"Nasir Mansoor has spent 40 years fighting for Pakistan’s workers. Whether demanding compensation on behalf of the hundreds of people who died in a devastating 2012 factory fire in Karachi or demonstrating against Pakistani suppliers to global fashion brands violating minimum wage rules, he’s battled many of the country’s widespread labor injustices.
Yet so far, little has improved, said Mansoor, who heads Pakistan’s National Trade Union Federation in Karachi... Regulations and trade protocols look good on paper, but they rarely trickle down to the factory level. “Nobody cares,” Mansoor said. “Not the government who makes commitments, not the brands, and not the suppliers. The workers are suffering.”
Change on the Horizon
But change might finally be on the horizon after Germany’s new Supply Chain Act came into force last year. As Europe’s largest economy and importer of clothing, Germany now requires certain companies to put risk-management systems in place to prevent, minimize, and eliminate human rights violations for workers across their entire global value chains. Signed into law by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in January 2023, the law covers issues such as forced labor, union-busting, and inadequate wages, for the first time giving legal power to protections that were previously based on voluntary commitments. Companies that violate the rules face fines of up to 8 million euros ($8.7 million)...
...As governments come to realize that a purely voluntary regimen produces limited results, there is now a growing global movement to ensure that companies are legally required to protect the people working at all stages of their supply chains.
The German law is just the latest example of these new due diligence rules—and it’s the one with the highest impact, given the size of the country’s market. A number of other Western countries have also adopted similar legislation in recent years, including France and Norway. A landmark European Union law that would mandate all member states to implement similar regulation is in the final stages of being greenlighted.
Although the United States has legislation to prevent forced labor in its global supply chains, such as the 2021 Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, there are no federal laws that protect workers in other countries from abuses that fall short of forced labor. That said, a proposed New York state bill, the Fashion Act, would legally require most major U.S. and international brands to identify, prevent, and remediate human rights violations in their supply chain if passed, with noncompliance subject to fines. Since major fashion brands could hardly avoid selling their products in New York, the law would effectively put the United States on a similar legal level as Germany and France...
The Results So Far
As of January, Germany’s new law applies to any company with at least 1,000 employees in the country, which covers many of the world’s best-known fast fashion retailers, such as Zara and Primark. Since last January [Jan 2023], German authorities say they have received 71 complaints or notices of violations and conducted 650 of their own assessments, including evaluating companies’ risk management.
In Pakistan, the very existence of the German law was enough to spark action. Last year, Mansoor and other union representatives reached out to fashion brands that sourced some of their clothing in Pakistan to raise concerns about severe labor violations in garment factories. Just four months later, he and his colleagues found themselves in face-to-face meetings with several of those brands—a first in his 40-year career. “This is a big achievement,” he said. “Otherwise, [the brands] never sit with us. Even when the workers died in the factory fire, the brand never sat with us.” ...
-via The Fuller Project, April 2, 2024. Article headers added by me.
Article continues below, with more action-based results, including one factory that "complied, agreeing to respect minimum wages and provide contract letters, training on labor laws, and—for the first time—worker bonuses"
With the help of Mansoor and Zehra Khan, the general secretary of the Home-Based Women Workers Federation, interviews with more than 350 garment workers revealed the severity of long-known issues.
Nearly all workers interviewed were paid less than a living wage, which was 67,200 Pakistan rupees (roughly $243) per month in 2022, according to the Asia Floor Wage Alliance. Nearly 30 percent were even paid below the legal minimum wage of 25,000 Pakistani rupees per month (roughly $90) for unskilled workers. Almost 100 percent had not been given a written employment contract, while more than three-quarters were either not registered with the social security system—a legal requirement—or didn’t know if they were.
When Mansoor, Khan, and some of the organizations raised the violations with seven global fashion brands implicated, they were pleasantly surprised. One German retailer reacted swiftly, asking its supplier where the violations had occurred to sign a 14-point memorandum of understanding to address the issues. (We’re unable to name the companies involved because negotiations are ongoing.) The factory complied, agreeing to respect minimum wages and provide contract letters, training on labor laws, and—for the first time—worker bonuses.
In February [2024], the factory registered an additional 400 workers with the social security system (up from roughly 100) and will continue to enroll more, according to Khan. “That is a huge number for us,” she said.
It’s had a knock-on effect, too. Four of the German brand’s other Pakistani suppliers are also willing to sign the memorandum, Khan noted, which could impact another 2,000 workers or so. “The law is opening up space for [the unions] to negotiate, to be heard, and to be taken seriously,” said Miriam Saage-Maass, the legal director at ECCHR.
Looking Forward with the EU
...Last month [in March 2024], EU member states finally approved a due diligence directive after long delays, during which the original draft was watered down. As it moves to the next stage—a vote in the European Parliament—before taking effect, critics argue that the rules are now too diluted and cover too few companies to be truly effective. Still, the fact that the EU is acting at all has been described as an important moment, and unionists such as Mansoor and Khan wait thousands of miles away with bated breath for the final outcome.
Solidarity from Europe is important, Khan said, and could change the lives of Pakistan’s workers. “The eyes and the ears of the people are looking to [the brands],” Mansoor said. “And they are being made accountable for their mistakes.”"

“Hands down the best piece of clothing Prince William has ever worn was that traditional Pakistani Green Sherwani in 2019. All eyes were on his fashionable choice and not on Kate's for the first time 😂 he looked so regal! I remember all the royal reporters were trying to find info about his outfit. William should rewear that sherwani again & this time with a beard! He would totally rock this look 💚” - Submitted by Anonymous

“Meri jaan, you’re spilling it.”
You turned at the familiar voice, just barely managing to balance a paper plate in your hands with an absurd amount of dahi papadi chaat piled onto it.
“You’re late,” You noted, biting the inside of your cheek to stop yourself from smiling like a lovestruck idiot as Pavitr approached you, flashing that dazzling, slightly crooked grin that had your heart stumbling and falling over your mind trying to make sense of it all. You dropped your gaze to the floor, trying your best to cross your arms without dropping the food on the plate.
“I know. And I’m sorry, I really am. But you know that juggling my… duties and timings are hard,” He dipped his head slightly to make you look at him, brushing a small piece of papdi off your kurta. God, he was so annoying sometimes. His eyes were so soft and irresistible and he knew it.
“Come on, look at me,” He said teasingly, stepping forward slightly and grinning as you glanced up at him, then immediately frowned at your lack of willpower when it came to him. “There she is.”
You felt a smile break through so you set down the paper plate on a nearby ledge, leaning forward to wrap him in a hug and bury your face in his clothes. “Arre, you’re insufferable,” You mumbled, to which he let out a small chuckle and effortlessly picked you up to spin you around despite your little yelp of surprise.
“Oh, yeah, definitely. I’m sure that’s why you came out here on a date with me to have street food, right? Let’s go, meri dhoop. No use of you being all sad right now, naa? Look, there’s even pani puri a few stalls down.”
You almost got whiplash from how fast you turned your head to look, your eyes widening in excitement as all previous thoughts were forgotten. “You should’ve mentioned that earlier!”
Pavitr laughed, the easy chuckle - as cliché as it sounded - practically music to your ears as you grabbed his hand and took off, leading him to the pani puri vendor. “I knew that’d cheer you up.”
One shared paper plate of (admittedly quite messy) pani puri and a whole skewer of seekh kebab later, you leaned against a ledge overlooking the Mumbattan bridge right next to a whole row of new vendors. Pavitr wrapped an arm a little too tightly around your shoulders, nervously measuring the distance you would fall if you tripped.
“Pavi, relax, I won’t fall,” You gave him a reassuring smile, and he breathed out slowly before giving you a slightly strained smile in return. “Yeah, sorry. Spider-Man stuff. Lots of, uh… bad things happen. Usually near large drops.”
Your eyes flicked to his hand, gripping the railing so hard his knuckles were starting to lose circulation. Sensing his discomfort, you moved away from the railing back into the middle of the cobblestones.
“I’m going to braid your hair,” You declared suddenly to ease the tension in the air, examining the smooth waves that framed his face, pushed back slightly with his blue headband. His eyes widened in horror at your statement. “Wait, what? No! I said I was sorry for coming late! I’ll do my absolute best to come on time, I promise!”
“I’m not that rough,” You protested, scrunching your eyebrows as he cupped his warm hands over your cheeks. “Of course not, meri jaan. You’re so gentle, my hair definitely doesn’t feel like it’s being sent to an early grave.”
“Aap drama baghair kisi wajah ke bana rahay hain.” (You are making drama for no reason) You frowned at him and he chuckled softly, shaking his head.
“Kabhi nahin! Mei achcha vajeh se drama karta hoon. …Uff, thik hai, tum mere baalon ko tod sakte hain. Lekin… pehle ise kha leh.” (Never! I do drama for good reasons. ..Okay, fine, you can tear my hair out. But first… eat this.)
He held up a plate of vada pav, his smile growing as your eyes lit up again, the familiar scent bringing back memories of sitting in your grandparents’ house and watching them cook, masala-infused aromas wafting through the kitchen from the large utensils.
“What did I do to deserve you?” You wondered aloud as you started stuffing your face with the nostalgic dish. Your tone was lighthearted and playful, but it had a few traces of the underlying truth. You were so, so lucky to have him, and you knew it.
You could see it every time he dramatically presented you with some knickknack or the other that he picked up along the way, handing it to you with a bashful ‘it made me think of you.’ You could see it every time he adjusted your dupatta, every time you caught him staring at you with round, loving, awestruck eyes as if you were the very centre of the cosmos itself.
And when he smiled at everyone it was usually genuine, sure, but you had a special kind of smile reserved for your eyes alone. One that made the small dimples at the corners of his mouth even more noticeable, one that made him scrunch his nose subconsciously with how wide he was smiling.
The kind of smile he was using right now. And oh, good grief, you were so far gone for him. He was so effortlessly gorgeous it actually hurt - wavy hair swept to one side behind his headband, brown eyes turning gold in the sun, the light dappling his face and flicking tiny spots of shadow onto his skin.
“Tum bohat khobsorat ho,” (You’re so beautiful) You whispered, completely spellbound. Pavitr blinked in surprise, his smile turning slightly shy. “Arrey, tum mujhe bahut zyaada phlait karte ho.” (You flatter me too much)
“No, really!” You insisted, tapping the tip of his nose with your pinky and laughing when he scrunched it instinctively. “You’re very pretty, you know that? Mera khobsorat ladka. Pretty, pretty boy.” (My beautiful boy)
“Aap adhik sundar hai.” (You’re more beautiful) Without warning, he gently grabbed your torso and pulled you into his arms, burying his face in your hair. You looped your arms around to meet behind his shoulder blades, resting your chin in the crook of his neck.
You were scared to move, to disturb the silent peacefulness of it all, but you wanted to tell him something that would hopefully put his worries to rest.
“You know I won’t leave you, right? I won’t be your… what is it, canon event? Whatever that is.”
At the words ‘canon event’, Pavitr flinched as if he had been burned, his eyes wide and searching as he looked at you. “What? Where did that come from? And how-”
“Okay, listen, so it’s kinda my fault,” You began, choosing your words so as to not agitate him any further. “But you know how you said I could read your journal, because basically every embarrassing thing you’ve written is you being lovesick for me?”
“I didn’t think you’d actually do it!” He covered his face with his hands in embarrassment, messing up his hair in the process.
“Anyway, uh… you left it open on your drawer and I maybe kind of accidentally looked through the last entry. But only because I was worried. You’d been acting stressed out the whole day, remember? I’m sorry!”
“I don’t… hmm, actually, that’s pretty sweet that you were worried. I appreciate it.” He lifted his head to meet your eyes, almost smiling before his face crumpled again. “Hang on, what else did you see? Oh, god, did you see the whole page of poems I wrote? No, wait, hear me out! In my defence, I was absolutely whipped for you. I still am, but-”
“Pavi?”
“Yeah?”
“Ai, meri mohabbat. Chup ho jao. Mujhe lagta hai ke yeh dilkash hai,” (My love. Shush. I think it’s adorable) You reassured him, leaning forward to kiss the tip of his nose before moving in to press a soft kiss to his lips, an attempt at putting his worries and ramblings to rest.
That shut him up pretty well.

A kurta is a loose, collarless type of shirt worn by people in South Asia. It usually extends up to or just past the knee.
A dupatta is a length of material worn arranged in two folds over the chest and thrown back around the shoulders, typically with a salwar kameez or a kurta, by women from South Asia.
Papdi chaat (or papri chaat) is crispy fried-dough wafers served with typical chaat ingredients such as chickpeas, boiled potatoes, yogurt sauce, and tamarind and coriander chutneys; it may also contain pomegranate seeds. Dahi papdi chaat is the same thing, but more yoghurt is used (dahi means yoghurt/curd).
Pani puri is a popular Indian snack consisting of fried puff-pastry balls filled with spiced mashed potato (the puri), spiced water, and tamarind juice (the pani).
Seekh kebab is a type of kebab made with Indian spices, spiced, minced or ground meat, usually lamb or chicken, formed into cylinders on skewers and grilled.

so this must be a weird request, but i was thinking about myriah martell (daeron ii's wife) and her relationship with the targaryen court. i figured that, as naerys wasn't such a strong figure at court nor the most fashionable, during aegon iv's rule myriah would be the closest to a fashion icon/inspiration for daeron's faction, however, as a martell in a deeply anti-dorne with a racist father-by-law/king, her influence would probably be quite limited at the time of his reign, both in fashion and in politics. hopefully, if martin doesn't kill her in f&b2, how do you think her queenship would influence the fashion in court? if you have any ideas of how as princess of dragonstone she and her supporters would dress, i'd love to hear about them too! (sorry for the bad english, i am brazilian and am writing this at 3am during research for fanfic, so it's not my most cohesive moment)
I am so sorry this is so late dear I just noticed this while I’m clearing out my ask box
Okay side note so I’ve never been able to decide on one main inspiration for Dorne, and I really don’t want that to read as orientalist conglomeration of multiple middle eastern cultures. I just can’t decide which real-world culture works the best, so please let me know if anything I say comes off as orientalist bc I really don’t want to do that!

Okay all that being said: I feel like Pakistani and Indian fashions are the biggest inspos for this time period in particular. Unfortunately we don’t know much about Myriah’s personality, but she seemed to mesh well with Daeron, so I take that as her being a more moderate, calm personality. Dressing in clothes that were fitting for her station as a princess of Dorne with gold stitched silks etc. but still have some degree of modesty at the same time. Her and her ladies always wore a few layers over their gowns, and always had some sort of shawl or scarf with them. Despite their compliance to the standards of Kings Landing, Dornish fashions never caught on completely, though over the years the Dornish fashion began to change a bit, with fuller skirts and more fitted bodices, while the prominent women of the city began to wear layered gowns and have the edges of their clothing embroidered in gold
#asoiaf#asoiaf hair and clothing#it’s such a shame George just threw together like 10 vaguely similar middle eastern/south Asian cultures and called it dorne#bc I really can’t nail down any one real world inspiration

How to learn Indian fashion I'm from India, but I don't know anything about passion, whom to follow, or what to search for. Sorry, I really don't know anything about this, nor do I have style. I just wear casual kurtas with jeans, idk.
I only use Pinterest for inspo. I don’t really keep up with any designer for that matter, but I do like certain ones like Anita Dongre, Tarun, Rahul Mishra, Raw Mango, Mulmul, Ogaan. go over their websites and check their style out. for heavier, more traditional clothing for big events like weddings, look at Pakistani designers on Pinterest. Just search for “pakistani salwar/ saree/ suit”
For everyday Indian pieces, I use Nykaa fashion. I buy from Soch, house of Jamoti, vintage look, smriti gupta, saaya the label, likha…. There’s lots of good options.
the best way to start working on your style is figuring out your body type (you can use Kibbe), figuring out your colour palette (look for colour season analysis online), then start building a Pinterest board with clothes that align with your body type + colours, explore the brands that you like, look at influencers who have similar taste as you.

meet my OCS!
i figured i would compile all the background info on my OCs here so i can refer back to it whenever i post about them, and a few people expressed interest in them, so here goes!
first up,
the setting:
the story is set in the UK, with the idea being that a tiny percentage of the population are witches or otherwise magical creatures, such as dryads, werewolves, and selkies. the fae exist but rarely interact with the outside world. most people with magic live ordinary lives, keeping their magic a secret, but there are occasional communities where people live more openly.
most of the story takes place in one such community, a small (fictional) village called Colwich (i previously called this place Stonehaven, so if you see that in old posts, just know i changed the name) nestled in a valley somewhere in the north of England. some parts also take place in Manchester and Edinburgh.
the main characters:
all the main characters are in their early twenties.
Roman Foster
our introductory character is Roman. he's recently lost his dad to cancer, and his mum died when he was a baby. at the beginning of the story, he is cleaning out the attic of his family's farmhouse when he finds boxes of his mum's things, books on witchcraft, a necklace she always wore in photos, and a staff covered in lush, living ivy and topped with a chunk of raw crystal. next, he finds photo albums which suggest that she actually died several months later than he was told.
overwhelmed with grief and confusion, when he touches the staff, it's like a bomb goes off, and he wakes up days later in the hospital, having also lost his job... and his left eye. nevertheless, he is determined to find out the truth of his family's past and what happened to him.
Roman is short, biracial (half black, half white) with shoulder length, wavy brown hair. he had one brown and one green eye, but after the accident, only the green is left. he is a trans man, and doesn't label his sexuality. he usually wears loose, dark clothes.
Tobias Joshi
Tobias is Roman's best friend. luckily for Roman, Tobias grew up in Colwich, though he moved to Manchester for university. he knows about magic and recognises it in Roman. having just gotten out of a toxic relationship and getting a job where he can work remote, he decides to move back home after five years, and take Roman with him to learn more about this new side of him.
Tobias's family life is strained. his family are powerful healers/necromancers, but through a fluke, his twin brother Zeke absorbed his magic in the womb, leaving him with none while his brother is a prodigy. his parents had little time for him, busy teaching Zeke how to master his powers, and so Tobias was often left in the care of the village's de-facto matriarch, Lavinia (more on her later), growing up alongside her daughters but always feeling a little apart from the rest of his magical community.
after five years away, the friends he left behind and lost contact with are distrustful and resentful of him, and he is nervous in turn, but determined to win back their friendship. however, things worsen when Roman discovers his family's power, and is distraught that he didn't tell him when he lost his father, and the two fall out.
Tobias is Pakistani, with hazel eyes and curly hair he dyes pink. he mostly wears bright colours, patterned shirts, and fun earrings. he is asexual and biromantic.
Aeden Kelley
Aeden's mother was a witch, their father a faerie. fae blood is a powerful but highly addictive magic enhancer, and so with their father absent, their controlling and abusive mother would regularly take their blood to increase her own power. she schooled them in magic until they had mastered it, but her methods were deeply traumatic. then, when Aeden was sixteen, she suddenly disappeared, and they were placed in Lavinia's care, where they gradually managed to make some friends despite their isolated childhood.
at eighteen they inherited the house they had lived in with their mother, a three storey building with a bookstore on the first floor, and living spaces on the second and third.
they have regular bad mental health days, and resent using magic due to the memory of their mother's abusive teaching methods. they believe that with modern technology, magic is mostly obsolete. they also suppress their fae abilities such as name magic- being able to order people to do things by invoking their names, which causes frequent migraines. when they have a really bad day, their magic goes haywire. they lose control of their name magic, and food spoils around them, even in the houses further down the street on a particularly bad day.
when Roman moves in to their spare rooms, the pair are in for an oblivious idiots to lovers arc, with a lot of healing to do along the way, but things may unravel when Aeden's mother unexpectedly returns.
Aeden is white, with long black hair they sometimes wear in a bun, grey eyes, and pointed ears with several piercings. they wear glasses and contacts interchangeably, and mostly wear cozy knitted jumpers. they're non-binary, demisexual and panromantic.
February Redfern
February is a dryad, the daughter of the mother tree of the forest that surrounds Colwich. as a child she took on a human form and was fostered by Lavinia. she can project her consciousness to the tree tied to her life force and communicate with the rest of the forest. she studies mycology ("it's not cheating, mushrooms and trees aren't even the same kingdom!") and during the story she is working on her thesis.
February and Tobias were especially close growing up, and she had an unrequited crush on him, but when he left they lost contact, and she pushed away her feelings for him. when he reappears, she's conflicted- cold and distant to protect herself from further heartbreak, but nevertheless longing to rekindle their friendship. eventually, she decides to give him another chance, and though she is initially distracted worrying after her sister, that soon falls to the wayside as it becomes clear that this time, Tobias returns her feelings, and she has decide if she will let him back into her heart.
February is tall, with long brown hair she dyes moss green, and green eyes. she is white but her skin has a green undertone to it in the spring and summer. she has entirely symmetrical features and pointed ears. she likes to wear bright or pastel clothes in feminine styles. though she uses feminine pronouns and presents as such, she doesn't have much attachment to gender or sexuality, though she is asexual and sex favourable.
Willow Redfern
while all the other characters are in a romcom, Willow is in a cosmic horror, and it is her story that pulls everyone together towards the climax.
Willow is Lavinia's adopted daughter, and thus February's adopted sister. she was left on Lavinia's doorstep as a newborn, and as she grew it became apparent that she wasn't a normal human. trouble was, nobody could figure out what she was. at the onset of puberty, she began to suffer headaches, and it soon became apparent that this was only the first stage in the process of developing antlers similar to those of a red deer, which grow in every summer and fall off every subsequent spring.
she also discovered she could tap into February's tree consciousness through touching her. she has had nightly dreams of wandering lost in a forest (which she thinks may be the one which surrounds Colwich) since she was a child. sometimes they're unsettling, but other times she feels a strange sense of comfort. most nights, she finds her way to a clearing containing a huge carved stone of some sort, at which point she wakes up.
curious about her origins, she sets about trying to finding her birth parents, and eventually is able to track down her birth mother, a woman named Mollie, who seems enthusiastic to meet. she takes Willow on trips and tells her that her father was a magical creature of unknown origins who died during her pregnancy, and she gave her up because she was young, broke and unsure how to raise a magical child, but always hoped they would reunite. Willow finally feels seen and appreciated, growing attached to Mollie quickly, eager to please, but pulling away from Lavinia and February.
once she is isolated, however, Mollie begins to speak of how humans are killing the planet, and how this ties to Willow- her power and destiny. it soon becomes evident that she has her own agenda, and there is much more to Willow's genealogy than she has let on...
Willow is white, short and chubby, with short blonde hair, blue eyes, and of course, antlers. she wears mostly black, and is red-green colour blind. she is an aromantic lesbian. she is also intersex.
side characters:
Lavinia Redfern
The matriarch of Colwich, Lavinia's great grandparents first settled in the area and established the village as a place welcome to all those magical or accepting of magic. she is a powerful and knowledgable witch.
Lavinia is a trans woman, and somewhere in her early seventies. she has fostered and taught several magical children during her lifetime, including Roman's mother, not to mention Willow and February, so she agrees to teach Roman to harness his magic.
Mollie Byrne
Willow's birth mother. she is secretive, but from what she does give away, it looks like she has a fairly lonely and empty life. she believes that humans put too much strain on the natural world and the earth is running headlong into it's own destruction.
Marwa and Annie Lang
a married couple in their late twenties who run the local cafe, they're good friends with Aeden, though somewhat mother-hen like towards them. they have a six month old baby, Ewan. Annie is a werewolf, while Marwa and Ewan are selkies.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7a5906a3e2fa46b08cf3b2aec1fcf927/2b529b8a1302e922-43/s540x810/822326866dc9763e2164f32ae4032c574311bca0.jpg)
(picrew link)
Ezekiel Joshi
Tobias's identical twin brother. Zeke and Tobias do not get along, Zeke sees him as a failure due to his lack of power and feels superior to him. he runs the family's funeral home business, and can use his powers of necromancy to commune with the dead, a huge aid in planning funerals the deceased would love and giving families closure.
Edith Kelley
Aeden's mother. A powerful witch, but after a lifetime of drinking fae blood- first from her husband, then later her son- to enhance her powers, she has become dependant on it and suffers severe withdrawal effects. She taught Aeden everything she knows, but did so in such a damaging way, they rarely use it.
Phoebe
February's mother, an ancient oak tree. every oak tree in the forest is her child, and together they shield Colwich from outsiders. she can take human form, but rarely does so.

so there's no hindi version of phoenix wright but it absolutely SHOULD exist because it would be so good listen-
(i am fully "localising" this because if the english and french versions of the game were allowed to then so am i, dammit)
it would take place in some big city in india, probably mumbai so that the steel samurai stuff can be connected to bollywood
the last time i was in mumbai i literally saw a japanese temple like down the road from my grandparents' building so the japanese influences aren't even that out of place. it's a big city okay, it could totally work
kurain village can be a "gaon" (village) somewhere in the maharastrian countryside. the fey manor even feels a lot like the big family houses you get out in gaon, though with a lot more japanese influence of course
the thought of pearl calling maya "maya didi" is melting my heart omg ("didi" means "big sister" but you can also use it on people who aren't literally your sister)
maya can still be called maya, it's a common name in india
and morgan would get so mad whenever phoenix doesn't call maya "maya-ji" ("ji" is a respectful suffix like "-sama" in japanese). he'd be like SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND, WHY TF WOULD I CALL HER "MAYA-JI"
edgeworth and gumshoe would have THE jai dixit and ali bhai dynamic from dhoom. without the motorbikes, of course. gumshoe would call people "yaar" instead of "pal" (it means the same thing).
larry is circuit. i don't know how else to put that. if you understand then you understand and if you don't, you don't.
speaking of, furio tigre would ABSOLUTELY refer to himself with the pronoun "apun" (a first-person pronoun often used by mafia-type characters) and call people "mamu" ("sucker")
OH AND WOCKY WOULD TOO. wocky would speak in the most munnabhai slang you ever heard. he would also mix english, hindi, marathi, gujarati, punjabi and bengali all in the same sentence. nigh incomprehensible.
lotta hart... while it makes sense to make her from south india, i feel like they get negatively stereotyped enough as is and they deserve better. so you know what? she can be gujju. lotta is from surat now and she talks like it. she's got that "hurati" accent. morgan fey hears her with her પાણી instead of पानी and ગોળી instead of गोली and is immediately like "get out >:("
wendy oldbag being one of those desi grannies is absolutely brilliant lmao
sister bikini being a desi auntie is even better
me and my brother have been calling hindi manfred von karma "manoj karma" for funsies so i've decided to keep it (the word "karma" is of indian origin so it works perfectly)
i haven't come up with pun names for people yet but phoenix, apollo and athena can keep their english first names. seriously, in mumbai you see places with those names all the time. especially apollo. it is inescapable.
^see? i was DYING. anyways
MAYA'S TRADEMARK FAVOURITE FOOD SHOULD BE PANI PURI ("gol guppa" for you dehli peeps), NO I AM NOT TAKING CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM
khura'in, being likely in the himalayas somewhere near bhutan (based on their climate and culture), would still be a few hours' plane journey from mumbai so it still works. a lot of the khura'inese characters can keep their same names too, eg "nahyuta sahdmadhi" already sounds very very sanskrit to my ears (sanskrit is the south asian equivalent of what latin is in europe). and also have you seen how he dresses because it's clearly a sherwani (indian/pakistani formal clothing) and amara's idle animation is clearly inspired by art of hindu deities and rafya's middle name is literally padma and oh my god there is so much shared cultural influence they are CLEARLY countries that border each other
(the "kh" sound strongly present in the khura'inese language is also giving me south asian vibes...)
me and my brother already joke about how shah rukh khan would totally make a great mr reus/roger retinz. LISTEN okay he absolutely would. he's got that villain swag.
you don't even need to change the other guy's real name ("manov mistree") because that already sounds like an indian name. do you know how common the surname "mistry" is in some parts?? do you know how many gazillions of people i personally know who have names that sound exactly like that??? and roger retinz is the ratings rajah. RAJAH (king). i've already been headcanoning him as desi since the first time i played aa6. anyway shah rukh khan character vibes
(but then again amir khan has literally played an evil magician in a bollywood movie before, so he could pull it off too i think...)
hindi has informal ("tu"), medium ("tum") and formal ("aap") second-person pronouns. you could have SO MUCH FUN with those. franziska would call literally everyone "tu" to assert dominance while edgeworth would call literally everyone "aap" to keep them distant. siblings amirite
franziska referring to miles as "mera chhota bhai" is actually killing me oh my god. that's her chhota bhai you guys skjdhkjfhldjssdrgse
feenie calling dahlia "dollie" works really well because i have like seven relatives with the nickname "dollie" so i'm presuming it must be common
oh yes, and mumbai does occasionally get earthquakes so the DL-6 incident still makes sense
india also has an active space programme so the UR-1 incident does too
and there's a monsoon season with storms so the SL-9 incident does as well ahahhahahhaa this is sO GOOD (okay in all fairness the monsoon season is not in february, when the case takes place... whatever whatever it's FINE i can make it work somehow)
you can use three scripts for the one translation -- english romanisation (for NRIs like me who suck at hindi...), the devanagari script commonly used to write hindi, and the urdu script so that urdu speakers can play too (for the most part the languages are mutually intelligible, you wouldn't need to change the dialogue at all, only the writing system)
if anyone out there is better at hindi than i am and wants to make a fan translation please do, it would be so iconic
#since my grandparents have been here i've been thinking about this a lot#ace attorney#long post#random stuff#i'd try translating it myself but like i said‚ i suck at hindi#i can understand movies and stuff i just can't speak it#i'm way better at gujarati bc that's what we speak at home#uhh i think there were a few spoilers in here hang on-#aa6 spoilers#there we go

I'm very good at it and proud My fashion style outside is cute baggy clothing or smth, but if we are in a relationship for long enough and at HOME, its very revealing clothing (smallest shorts ever and a skintightttt t-shirt) I listen to metal, rap, electric
I'm an extremely cuddly lover, but I know how to take things slow if they aren't comfortable with it (projecting) (but im touch starved what the freak)
<333
🤔I'll pair you with...
Keegan P. Russ ☠
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2946f39293ddcbf2fc19d23a9c06a68f/577426e23f11cf01-6b/s540x810/812180becf2af75909a7c107ab3d2a67d501a6f2.jpg)
I think Keegan would be your match
You two would be different sides of the same coin
More times than not Keegan is quiet
However, if you try to start a conversation first he will talk
And if you keep talking, finding things to talk about, he'll never want to stop
I feel like you two would become best friends
And then one night, you had a dream about him
It was innocent, though
Just hanging out like normal
But in the dream, you two were soooo close
Holding hands
You ignored it until you dreamed of Keegan kissing you
You had developed a crush on him but didn't want to ruin what you both had
Keegan was observant
He noticed how you were acting
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"...nothing"
"You don't need to lie. I know something's bothering you."
"Nothings bothering me, I'm just... thinking"
"About what?"
Should you tell him?
Would you risk telling him how you felt for him?
You thought about the times when you fell asleep beside him watching a movie, how he comforted you with hugs when you've had a bad day
He's been there by your side
He was a good friend, a best friend
And you really wanted to be more than that
You couldn't stop thinking and daydreaming about him
It was driving you crazy
"I... uhm, it's just..."
You was getting tongue twisted
You tried again
"I like you, a lot, Keegan."
You gave a pause
"And I understand if you don't feel the same. I just didn't want to regret not saying anything."
You didn't look at him as you said all of this
After a short moment of silence you looked over to Keegan
A smile formed on his lips
"Took you long enough"
You were confused
"Huh?"
He told you that one of the Ghosts noticed the way you looked at him, blushing whenever he would look your way
"If you waited any longer, I was going to tell you myself"
Needless to say you two are now dating
