As for what kind of monsters they'd face,, I'm actually unsure- I haven't played either game and I don't know any of the lore or characters.. so I'm not sure what kinds of dangers the real cookie run pirates face.. :( But what I DO know is that Blue Beauty is their main form of protection.

She's not exactly threatening to a lot of creatures I'd imagine.. She is just a Mer-whale. No teeth or stingers to make her more intimidating.. But what she is, is huge. And incredibly strong. She's a real power house and uses tools and weapons the crew taught her how to use to defend herself. And I imagine with her thick blubber, it takes a really deep wound to actually hurt her. So she doesn't fear getting a couple scratches here and there.

When it comes to the other cookies, most everyone stands up and fights. Only a select few retreat to the lower decks to protect their goods or hide. Those likely being Ellie, she's too old for this crap- and Coco and Red, though don't be fooled! Coco can fight! She's just retreating with Red in order to protect him. Everyone else though is up there duking it out with who ever dares cross their ship! ⚔⚔

RFK Jr. Requests That SCOTUS Restore His Name On N.Y. Ballots

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has asked the U.S. Supreme Court for an emergency intervention in order to get his name back on New York’s presidential ballots. 

Lower courts excluded the former Independent candidate from the ballot after ruling that he falsely claimed residency in the Empire State due to his Katonah, New York, address not being his fixed and permanent residency. 

RFK Jr. currently lives in Los Angeles, California, with his actress wife, Cheryl Hines, who is best known for her role in the television show “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” He has lived there since 2014.

The Second Circuit upheld a lower court’s decision disqualifying the Independent candidate on September 18th.

Kennedy indicated in court filings that he has continuously rented a room in the home of a childhood friend, and that he had stayed overnight on one occasion. His attorneys highlighted that the lower courts “did not find that anyone was misled” in regards to that information.

In Kennedy’s emergency appeal to the Supreme Court, he argued that his supporters in the state “have a constitutional right to have Kennedy placed on the ballot — and to vote for him, whether he is campaigning for their vote or not.”

“The address on Kennedy’s petition was and is entirely immaterial — both to voters and to New York,” his attorneys wrote in their request. 

The request was brought by Kennedy’s campaign, “American Values 2024,” a super-PAC backing him and his political endeavors.

Meanwhile, the emergency request was sent to Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who handles emergency appeals in New York. As a result, she requested New York Attorney General Letitia James (D-N.Y.) and others involved in the case respond in writing by Wednesday afternoon. 

Since suspending his campaign and supporting former President Donald Trump, Kennedy has attempted to remove his name in key battleground states, while remaining on the ballot elsewhere. The move has prompted several series of legal challenges, and the battle in New York is now the first involving Kennedy to reach the Supreme Court. 

The former Independent candidate recently urged his supporters to vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming election. Kennedy seems to be trying to take votes away from Democrat candidate Kamala Harris in the blue state of New York, which has historically been controlled by Democrats and majority Democrat voters, with the exception of the mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001, Rudy Giuliani.

Recently, the high court also rejected a bid to put Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein on Nevada’s ballot.

Ludwig is the oldest of the Koopalings. The other Koopalings typically call Ludwig, Lud, or Luddy (Iggy will take it one step further and call him Luddy-Wig). Ludwig's favorite type of music is Classical (he will take some Jazz and Country music, he also likes Queen). Ludwig is the most introverted of his family. Ludwig has a very sharp memory, he remembers things from a few days after he has hatched (it might not be the best but he can still remember things from that point of time). Ludwig can be super protective over people he cares about but it us very hard to get into that soft spot in Ludwig's heart (Bowser would've probably been the first to actually get really close to Ludwig). Ludwig is a little bit of a tyrant (but better than Bowser) he did end up killing the king of CloudLand so he could take over that throne (probably out of boredom or not wanting to be around his siblings 24/7). Ludwig is the most magically experienced of the Koopalings and most powerful out of them magically, because of this he enjoys hanging out with Kamek more than the other Koopalings do. Ludwig is an insomniac (not as much as Iggy though) and does prefer night rather than day. Ludwig typically is calm but if he gets irritated he gets as mad as Bowser does when Mario saves Peach (which is pretty mad). He will do everything in his power to make his opinion the best one even if it's very wrong or a bad opinion (Ludwig has caused drama and fights in his family because of this [Iggy or Roy are usually the ones to disagree with Ludwig]).

This was an excellent show from the premier BritWres promotion, that featured great action up and down the card, a whole load of good, nothing bad, and the best match of the year so far.

Things kicked off with a fun, but unspectacular Scramble match, that had the surprise inclusions of Shigehiro Irie and AEW's Global champ, Orange Cassidy, who got a huge pop and put his belt on the line here. Which left the finish in no doubt really. This only went 8 minutes, and was essentially just a collection of high spots, and many of the guys didn't do much. I'm a fan of Big Shig, but honestly, he might as well not have been here as his contributions came to one spot. Same with Cassidy to be fair, he was AWOL most of this thing, selling a lowblow from Holliday, but it was still fun stuff. Orange pinned Holliday with the Orange Punch to retain. The RevPro Women's Title was on the line next. This was another good match, but I wasn't a massive fan of the finish, which brought it down slightly for me. Despite seemingly having the match won, Reed inexplicably went to use Dani's title belt, but payed for it as she ate an Elevated German into the ring and a Luna Landing for the champion to retain in 9:44. Alex Windsor Jumped Luna after the match and beat her down and dragged her around with a chain, which one would presume is leading to a dog collar match.

The NJPW Dojo graduates Yuto Nakashima and Oskar Leube took on heel duo Mark Trew and Kieron Lacey in a really good little traditional tag bout next. The heels worked over stocky babyface Yuto, before he made the hot tag to his Germanic Skyscraper of a tag partner, who ran wild and they bumped around like crazy for him. After taking Lacey out with a verion of Total Elimination, Leube caught a Trew crossbody attempt, and deadlifted him onto his shoulders, allowing Nakashima to come off the second rope with a jumping knee, and Oskar hit a massive multiple rotation F-5 for the win at 9:25. They announced a UK Fantasticamania show for May 19th before the next match, which was an excellent slugfest between Luke Jacobs and JJ Gale. This was grand hard-hitting violence, with both guys hitting forearms, kicks and suplexes. After Jacobs caught Gale's leg from a roundkick attempt, he captured his arm too and hit a sickening headbutt. JJ scored a nearfall with a flash small package, then got another super close nearfall with his Gale Force spinning Oscutter as the crowd went crazy. Gale missed a 450, before eating a serious of stiff Lariats from Jacobs, which lead to Luke scoring the win at 17:02 with a Steiner Screwdriver. Great stuff here, and I hope we see more from both guys at the top of the card in 2024. Jacobs vowed to win the Revolution Rumble in the post match.

Mustafa Ali took on Robbie X in a very good flippity spot fest next. This was all-action, with a non-stop stream of flying and springboard moves. The finish came when both guys fought in the top, Ali hit a Sunsetbomb off the top, then a match winning 450 Splash to win at the 13:08 mark. Ali looked super happy to be here, and put on a good showing, so I'm under no doubt that he'll do great in New Japan and the Indys, after years of being in wrestling purgatory. Shingo took on Trent Seven next in a match that was made less than 24 hours before they came through the curtain. Originally Takagi was to take on Gabe Kidd (which I would have been all in on as that sounds awesome), but Kidd suffered an undisclosed injurey in the insane Cage Match he was in in Osaka. If I were a betting man though, I'd say it was likely a concussion from that insanely stiff Henare slap he took near the end, not to mention the crazy chairshots. This was ultimately a very decent match, but at 21:58, it was way too long, and it was another of those matches where too much stuff was kicked out of. There was no need to work this like it was a Tokyo Dome main event; Shingo kicked out of a Pump Handle Emerald Flowsion, Trent kicked out of a sitout Burning Hammer, Takagi kicked out of a middle rope Emerald Flowsion, then a short piledriver, Shingo then escaped a Seven Star Lariat and hit a Last of The Dragon... but after a delayed cover Trent kicked out(!). Seven kicked at one from a Sliding Bomber, but ate a few more Pumping Bombers to finally allow Shingo to win. This would likely have been great if it was around 14 minutes, but it outstayed it's welcome a little and they just kicked out of way too much for no reason.

Next up, Anthony Ogogo defeated RKJ in what was by far the weakest match of the night. This was perfectly fine, nothing was bad, the crowd were respectably hot, and RKJ tried his damndest to have a good match, but this ultimately didn't click. Former Olympic Boxer Ogogo scored the win at 13:30 with two great looking punches. Which were the best looking things he'd done all match. What followed was an excellent technical wrestling match, as Zack Sabre Jr. took on Connor Mills, which was my second favourite of the night. This featured exemplary mat work, as both guys exchanged submission holds, with Mills aggressively working over the left leg, and Zack focussing on the left arm. After both failed to tap the other out, frustrations flared and this broke down into a nasty strike battle, with some seriously stiff slaps back and forth. In the end, after Mills kicked out of a Zack Driver, Sabre Jr. turned up the pace and put the younger wrestler away after a series of PK's at the 21:25 mark. Great, great stuff.

Then the Main Event, which was Will Ospreay's RevPro swan song before going fulltime with AEW, and was one of the best matches you'll ever see. I loved their match at High Stakes 2022, but this one was considerably better than that classic, with off the charts drama, heat, storytelling and big fight feel. This was outstanding. The stipulations were that there were no referee stoppages allowed, but if Amira threw in the towel (like she did in their last match), then Oku would lose the title, and Ospreay threw the bloody towel from the forst match at her to use. The crowd were white hot from the off, and neber cooled down once during this epic battle. There was way too much to reasonably recap here, but everything was great. Oku worked over Will's knee in preperation of the Half Crab, but came up bloody from going into the ringpost. Ospreay worked him over, taunting Amira to throw the towel, but she responded by spitting on him, which Ospreay responded by kicking her into the guardrail to loud boos. Oku went crazy with a fiery comeback that included hitting the old El Generico Tornado DDT through the ropes to the floor, which Ospreay juiced from, then locked on the most dramatic Figure Four since Muto/Takada, but Ospreay made the ropes. Will hot the Oscutter for a nearfall, and Oku hit a reverse rana which spiked Ospreay, but as he celebrated, Ospreay popped up and hit a Hidden Blade to the back of the head for the double down. Oku then turned a Storm Breaker attempt into a package tombstone, but missed a Frog Splash. He landed on his feet though and hit Ospreay with his own Hidden Blade. In a callback to their 2022 match, Oku started hitting numerous Hidden Blades, but pulled Ospreay up at two every pin attempt. He tried another but The Ariel Assassin countered with the real deal Hidden Blade. Ospreay hit the flip out of a clothesline into a powerbomb spot, then transitioned into a Styles Clash for a near fall. Amira is dragged into the ring and she pushes Oku out of the way of a Hidden Blade, taking the move herself, leading to Ospreay pushing her unconscious body out of the ring. Oku rolls through another Hidden Blade into the Half Crab, but as he leans back into the bridge, Ospreay pulls him out of it, flips him over and hits a devastating Tiger Driver 91, another Hidden Blade and finally the Storm Breaker, but Oku kicks out at 2.9999, which blows the roof off the National Sports Centre. Oku then turns a Tombstone attempt into a Sega Mega Driver, in tribute to Mad Kurt, finally hits the Frog Splash to the back, goes back up and hits a second to the front, but Ospreay kicks out at the last minute. As he does, Oku grabbed his leg and turned it into the Half Crab as the fans went crazy. Ospreay fought to the ropes, but a revived Amira flipped him off, Oku pulled him to the centre, bridges back, and Ospreay finally tapped at the 47:12 mark, giving Oku the biggest win of his career. This was all brilliant.

In the post match, Ospreay handed Oku the title, symbolically passing the torch, Oku offered the handshake, which was expected, and Ospreay cut an emotional promo to say goodbye to a scene he's invested so much into. He thanked New Japan and RevPro, as well as the fans, for all they've done for him, and he promised his best stuff was still to come. He then said teary fairwells, before nemsis Zack Sabre Jr. appeared at the curtain to give him a hug and a kiss. All in all, this was an excellent show that's well worth checking.

Best of the Super Jr. night 1 preview

This is the opening night of New Japan's annual junior heavyweight tournament. Twenty men will compete in two blocks of ten. Each participant will wrestle nine matches, against everyone else in his block. The goal is to finish the block with the best win-loss record. The top two in each block will advance to semifinal matches on June 3; the winners of those matches will meet on June 9 in the final. The tournament winner traditionally becomes the next challenger for the IWGP junior heavyweight championship.

A Block: Titan vs. El Desperado - Titan is the CMLL world welterweight champion, but titles aren't at stake during this tournament. This is sort of a battle of the bridesmaids; neither man has won the tournament, but Despe was the runner-up in 2020 and 2022, and Titan took second place last year.

Despe is a three-time IWGP junior champ, and for the past five years the title has largely been controlled by himself, Hiromu Takahashi, and Taiji Ishimori. On top of that, New Japan is helping him promote his own independent show on June 10. So you'd have to figure he's a heavy favorite to win the tournament. On the other hand, this is the main event of the opening night of the tournament, so you'd have to figure there's going to be a big upset. Something tells me this is going to be Titan's night to shine.

B Block: Hiromu Takahashi vs. KUSHIDA - Kushida wasn't originally announced for this tournament, but after YOH suffered a shoulder injury, he cleared his schedule. As a result, we get a match between two of the best in the modern NJPW junior division. Kushida won BOSJ in 2015 and 2017; Hiromu won it all in 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Hiromu rose to prominence in the junior division just as Kushida was starting to move on to other stuff. So in most of their singles encounters, Kushida was the old ace putting over the new ace--Hiromu leads the series 4-1. Now would be a good time for Kushida to get a win back, to help Hiromu look a little vulnerable before he racks up a bunch of wins. I wouldn't bet money on a Kushida win, but I'm leaning towards that outcome.

A Block: TJP vs. Kevin Knight - TJP appeared in the last two BOSJ tournaments, and finished 4-5 both times. Knight debuted last year with a 3-6 record, so there's practically nowhere to go but up. TJP's big thing now is that he's trying to be an openweight wrestler, and the "captain" of the United Empire. I doubt that'll play into this match much, but it stands to reason that he needs a good showing in the tournament to shore up his lofty ambitions. This isn't a safe match for him, but Knight is still booked pretty much like a young rookie, so a TJP win is pretty likely.

B Block: Taiji Ishimori vs. DOUKI - Ishimori was the runner-up in 2018's tournament, whereas Douki has never done better than 3-6.

Ishimori was injured near the end of last year's BOSJ, during a match with Hiromu Takahashi, and forced to withdraw. So aside from the usual goals of winning the tournament and chasing the junior title, he's no doubt looking for retribution against Hiromu.

Douki's big thing this year is his major victory over Hiromu on February 24. I'm glad he's finally getting wins like that, but that was almost three months ago and he hasn't really accomplished anything since then. He really needs to at least finish this year at 5-4, but I'm not counting on that. Ishimori is probably going to eat his lunch.

A Block: Blake Christian vs. Clark Connors - Christian is a stand-out in the US indy scene, and I'm surprised to find this is his first appearance in BOSJ. Although he's billed as representing Ring of Honor (where he does appear sporadically as a jobber), Christian is surely better known as the current GCW world champion. In fact, it was just last week that he retained the title in a controversial Dusty finish against Danhausen. I don't expect him to be protected at all in this tour, but it is pretty cool for GCW to have their champ here.

Connors is one of the IWGP junior heavyweight tag team champions. This is his third year in the tournament; in 2022 and 2023, he finished in the middle of the pack at 4-5. As one of Bullet Club's War Dogs, he's going to be more focused on bullying and hurting his opponents than seriously trying to win, and that's going to cost him many key matches. This feels like one of the matches he'll win to keep him out of last place.

B Block: SHO vs. Drilla Moloney - Sho is the IWGP junior heavyweight champion, so he isn't defending his title during this tour, but the tournament will decide his next challenger. (Unless he wins the whole thing himself, which probably won't happen.) Moloney holds the IWGP junior tag title with Clark Connors. Sho's personal best is 6-3; Moloney's is 4-5.

This is technically a Bullet Club vs. Bullet Club match, since House of Torture and the War Dogs are still officially subgroups within the same faction. Traditionally, when two Bullet Club guys face off in a tournament, they try to work out a deal where one lays down for the other, and it always backfires and turns into a vicious brawl, and then they make peace after the match. That probably won't work here, because nobody trusts House of Torture to live up to their agreements, and nobody expects the War Dogs to go easy on an ally. One way or another, though, I figure Sho will bring in enough interference to steal a win.

A Block: Kosei Fujita vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru - This is Fujita's first time in the tournament. Kanemaru's personal best in BOSJ was in 2017 when he finished 4-3, so he's never been a top contender.

Fujita has been a member of Zack Sabre's TMDK faction for over a year, but he's still little more than a Young Lion, so I expect him to finish at or near last place. If he's going to beat anybody in this block, however, it's probably Kanemaru. That alone makes this worth watching, but all the same I have to favor Nobu to pick up the win.

B Block: Ninja Mack vs. Robbie Eagles - Mack, who makes his BOSJ debut here, is the GHC hardcore champion at Pro Wrestling NOAH. Robbie is a mainstay of the tournament, but he's never done better than 5-4, which is a long way from clinching a semifinal spot. This match comes down to whether they want to give Mack a hot start, or if they want to big-league him by jobbing him to a middle-of-the-pack New Japan guy. I'm honestly not sure which way they'll go with that, so this is a pick-'em.

A Block: HAYATA vs. BUSHI - Hayata, another NOAH guy making his debut, is the GHC national champion. Bushi has been in twelve of these things; his personal best is 6-3, which is pretty good, but not always enough to make it out of the blocks. Of all the outside guys coming in this year, Hayata seems like the one they'd take most seriously, and Bushi jobs to pretty much anybody. I'll pick Hayata to win here, though he'll probably finish up around 4-5.

B Block: Francesco Akira vs. Dragon Dia - Dia, representing Dragongate, is a last-minute substitution for Ryusuke Taguchi. Akira, like his tag partner, TJP was in the 2022 and 2023 tournaments, and both times he finished 4-5. Dia strikes me as the kind of guy they'll book like he's just happy to be here, so it's okay to beat him a lot. If he's going to score any wins this year, it'd probably be against someone like Akira. But I think Akira will score the victory this time.

Orion and the Dark

What got my attention about this animated feature is that it is written by Charlie Kaufman. Yes - the writer of Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind wrote this! Premieres on Netflix on 2/2.

Lisa Frankenstein 

This horror comedy from director Zelda Williams (yes - the daughter of a legend) and writer Diablo Cody looks promising. Opens 2/9 (review to come).

Madame Web 

The newest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is also the next installment of the Spider-Man Universe as this gets into multiple Spider-Women and they filmed in Boston too. Color me curious! Opens 2/14.

Kiss the Future

During the Zoo TV Tour in 1993, U2 shined a light on the crisis in Sarajevo in an effort to support the besieged Sarajevans. This documentary about their efforts was produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. After playing festivals last year, it is being released exclusively by AMC Theaters on 2/19.

Drive-Away Dolls

I was a huge fan of the Coen brothers, but after The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, they began working solo. After Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, I’m excited to see Ethan Coen’s solo feature, an action comedy about inept criminals, which is his wheelhouse. I first was looking forward to this in September 2023 and I still am. Opening 2/23.

Paul McCartney & Wings Band on the Run 50th Anniversary Edition

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Paul McCartney's greatest non-Beatles album, a new special edition is being released. The timing happens to be a few weeks after the passing of Wings guitarist Denny Laine as well. Re-release drops on 2/2.

J. Mascis What Do We Do Now

In addition to Dinosaur Jr., J. Mascis has done some great solo work. His last solo album Elastic Days had some bangers and I was lucky enough to see him do a live solo show in 2019. Looking forward to his newest solo album, which drops 2/2.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 12 premiere

The 12th season of one of the most brilliant TV comedies of all time is going to be the final season (or so they say). Even though it's only at season 12, each season has been spaced out over the past 24 years. I named Season 11 my Best TV Show of 2021. Hopes are high for Larry David's social assassin going out on a high note! Season premiere on 2/4 on HBO.

Awards Season:

We're in the midst of awards season now! This month we have Grammy Awards (2/4), DGA Awards (2/10), SAG Awards (2/24), and Independent Spirit Awards (2/25). Not exactly an awards show, but the biggest competition of the year is the Super Bowl (2/11) as well.

Marvel en DC crossovers

In de VS verschijnen binnenkort 2 nieuwe omnibussen met daarin alle crossovers tussen Marvel en DC. Voor je je naar de winkel rept: de kans is groot dat je best wel wat van die verhalen al in je Nederlandstalige comic collectie hebt zitten 😉. Een overzicht 👉

De eerste crossovers

Midden jaren ‘70 hadden Marvel en DC voor de eerste keer samengewerkt om de filmspecial van ‘Wizard of Oz’ uit te geven. Dat zorgde ervoor dat beide concurrenten tijdelijk wat vriendelijker tegenover elkaar stonden en er nieuwe mogelijkheden ontstonden. Op die manier kwam de eerste ‘Superman versus The Amazing Spider-Man’ crossover tot stand. En goed nieuws, die verscheen in 1976 ook in het Nederlands als losse ‘Superman en Spinneman’ album bij Classics.

Enkele jaren later zou in de VS nog een ‘Batman verus Hulk’ verschijnen. Nog in de jaren ‘80 volgden dan plannen voor een Justice League/Avengers en een New Teen Titans/X-Men crossover. Die laatste verscheen toen inderdaad. Op de eerste bleek het door allerlei problemen uiteindelijk nog 20 jaar wachten. Helaas zijn deze nooit in België en Nederland verschenen. Al is er misschien nog hoop om deze uitgaven ooit in de DC Classics reeks van Dark Dragon Books te zien? 

Wat we in die periode wél nog kregen was de ontmoeting tussen Superman en Spiderman uit de ‘Marvel Treasury Edition featuring Superman and Spider-Man 1’. Deze fraaie strip door Jim Shooter, Marv Wolfman en John Buscema werd één van de allereerste uitgaven van Juniorpress. En alsof dat nog niet bijzonder genoeg was, verscheen dit album op een reuzegroot formaat. Helaas ook wel met een slappe kaft, waardoor het zeer moeilijk is om hier een exemplaar van te vinden dat nog in perfecte staat is. 🙈

De jaren ‘90

In de loop van de jaren ‘90 verschenen er nog een heleboel crossovers tussen Marvel en DC. Hier kregen we helaas geen ‘Darkseid/Galactus’, ‘Green Lantern/Silver Silver’, ‘Batman/Daredevil’ en ‘Batman/Captain America’. 

Gelukkig verschenen in de Batman Special serie van Baldakijn Boeken wél enkele fijne confrontaties:

In Batman Special 24 werden beide delen van de Batman/Punisher crossover opgenomen. Het eerste deel is best de moeite, met fraai tekenwerk van John Romita Jr. In het tweede deel zien we AzBats het opnemen tegen de Punisher. Net iets minder leuk vind ik zelf.

Amalgam

Het hoogtepunt van de Marvel/DC crossovers is natuurlijk de Amalgam periode. Wat begon als een ‘gewone’ crossover met ‘DC versus Marvel’ kwam tot een hoogtepunt met het ontstaan van een nieuw universum waarin helden van beide uitgevers samensmolten tot nieuwe personages. Wat dacht je van een kruising tussen Batman en Wolverine als Dark Claw? Of Superman en Captain America als Super Soldier? Je merkt het, deze uitgaven staan bol van de jaren ‘90 gekheid. Hey, good question!

Most of the games take place within just a few years. We know at least three years have passed since Mario’s arrival in the Mushroom Kingdom, as Princess Peach has had three separate on-screen birthdays in the games Mario Party, Mario Party 4 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

My estimate for the time encompassing a majority of the games where Mario is an adult is a span of 6 years. We know that Mario was 24 to 26 in Donkey Kong, according to Shigeru Miyamoto in multiple interviews:

“I didn't decide on anything except that he was about 24-25 years old.”

“To me, he's more like an older brother, like 24 or 26 years old.”

This would set him at around 30 nowadays, with plenty of room for Peach’s Birthdays and two Mario Kart tournaments per year. It also gives time for certain characters to be born and age (Goombario, Bowser Jr., Donkey Kong) while the main cast doesn’t noticeably get too much older.

There probably isn’t that long between each game, a few weeks or months at most, depending on when they’re set.

As for the span of years, Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart Tour take place around 2014-2015, as is confirmed by various sponsors.

Since these are some of the latest games in the timeline, every other game would be set in the years leading up to the mid 2010s!

Happy 25th anniversary to Animax!

For those who don't know: Animax is a Japanese animation satellite television network owned by Sony that was launched on May 20th, 1998, dedicated to broadcasting anime programming. The channel also dubbed other cartoons in Japanese language. (source: Wikipedia)

I also forgot to mention that Animax also has a sister channel: Kids Station, which was launched on April 12, 1993, making the channel 30 yrs old as I am writing this post. For those who don't know what it is, it's a Japanese children's television channel showing anime and other cartoon material. While children's programming is their primary demographic, they have also been known to air some teen and adult-oriented anime during the evening hours like Narutaru, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Mr. Osomatsu, Genshiken, Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, Kujibiki Unbalance, and Rosario + Vampire. It is broadcast 24 hours a day on cable and satellite TV. (source: Wikipedia)

Animax is more known for its Southeast Asia channel that was launched on January 11, 2004 (19 yrs old soon to be 20 next year). It's, according to Wikipedia, a pay television channel in Asia owned by KC Global Media Asia that broadcasts Japanese language anime and Simulcast them through English language feeds in Southeast Asia sans Brunei, South Asia and East Asia. It was also the first television channel in Asia dedicated to anime.

Overall, Animax is the best place for not just anime, but also everything else that is broadcasting in Japan. In fact, I was thinking of using this network as the basis for my new series; Animax is the main character, followed by Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. Kids Station, Cartoonito/Boomerang, Nick Jr/Noggin, and Disney Jr will be their sisters. Crunchyroll and Aniplex (both also owned by Sony) are Animax's childhood friends, and that's as far as the characters goes. I'll start working on the webcomic at the start of June, and the series would be scheduled for launch in October 2023. As for the animated series, I think I would push it forward by 2 years, since I'm still working on animation. The name of the series would be titled Rebineru - a portmanteau of the Japanese romanizations of television (テレビ lit. terebi) and channel (チャネル lit. chaneru). I'm thinking that the premise of the series would be something akin to the Hyperdimension Neptunia games - 4 nations guarded by our main characters who are able to transform into their super forms via "shares" and fight off the series' main antagonists. (I might try to rework that later on though). Though this "anniversary" post came off as longer than I thought, since it was also a "development" post regarding my series, I made this as a way to remind Western anime fans about this channel's existence and how they feel about. It's not really popular outside of Japan or SEA, and even if it is brought up it's mostly about their poor-quality "dubs". Animax is a very underrated channel and I want it to see it get the love it deserves. Thank you all for reading this.

tried playing with other groups in jr high and high school but didn't end up staying with them for various reasons, so thisis the first one he's really committed to

Kogure (~22)

majored in theater design, is working as a set designer with a theater company

by coincidence he and Mitsui went to the same high school, but didn't really interact with each other back then. However, one evening in high school when Kogure was out with his friends he runs into a then drunk Mitsui fighting with one of his band members on the street. After Mitsui gets knocked out from that fight and other people leave Kogure goes to help him up and get into a taxi home (since he recognized him as someone from his school). It just so happened that it was after this fight that Mitsui decides it's time to leave his band, but he doesn't remember Kogure helping him back then.

later when he goes with some university friends, this time to just go watch local bands, he sees Mitsui again with this new band, and through Yasu gets connected with Mitsui directly

He and Mitsui become good friends and get closer...and they're in "will-they-won't-they" situation for a couple years until Mitsui confesses to Kogure and they get together

Background (Sota and Ryota)

When he was a young guy (~1970s-1980s) Miyagi's father was really into the rock music scene going on in Okinawa and was a skilled, self-taught guitar player. Outside of his usual day job he played locally in different bands, and when he married and had kids he taught both his sons guitar when they both turned ~8 years old

Sota was especially talented at picking up guitar and playing well early on, but Ryota also learned pretty quickly as well

Their father passed away when Sota was ~14 and Ryota was ~11 (a little later than in canon)

The Miyagi family moved to Kanagawa about a year later (when Sota started high school)-but for other reasons not really having to do with their dad passing (although it did partially contribute to them moving)
