KOTOKA TORAHIME ->

doctor immediately. she's not the best at taking care of people, so she figures she'll take you to the doctor before it gets any worse. koto will keep you company the whole time without fail, trying her best to keep you distracted and happy. she'll watch a movie with you on her phone while you wait for the doctor, and because i said so you're watching twilight. as soon as you're done at the doctor, she'll gently take your hand and get you in the car so she can take you home to rest. she'll likely call off her stream for that day so she can take better care of you too <3

MELOCO KYORAN ->

she'll likely keep you from getting too sick with her immaculate routines to keep healthy. but if you do happen to get sick, meloco will take the best care of you out of all of them methinks! she'll run hot bubble baths for you with soothing scents, have warm pajamas ready for you, wrap you up in bundles of blankets, have some of your favorite warm drinks ready, and she'll have made your favorite food. melo will gladly let you lay your head on her soft chest too while she ever so gently plays with your hair and whispers that she hopes you feel better soon...oh, you're already fast asleep, aren't you?

Queequeg: How I feel about this character Quee(r)queg is my absolute favorite Moby Dick character. He's just so incredibly cool and it's really interesting to me that Melville managed to write such a fundamentally good character while also being very deeply racist about him (Melville writing Queequeg is a constant seesaw between surprisingly not-racist and really racist but THAT'S A DISCUSSION FOR ANOTHER POST). Melville and 1851 notwithstanding he's my gay harpooneer blorbo of all time!

All the people I ship romantically with this character Ishmael OF COURSE. I have a very vivid memory of reading the first chapters of Moby Dick for the very first time and annotating all their interactions with "HUH? GAY???" I was expecting homoerotic tension but wow it really surprised me. They're married in canon and they're the best whaling husbands I know.

My non-romantic OTP for this character The harpooneer crew! Daggoo and Tashtego. They don't interact THAT much in canon (we're too focused on Ahab Happenings while at sea) but I've got some headcanons about them and how they're all besties.

My unpopular opinion about this character I don't know if it's really unpopular per se, but engaging more with Queequeg's fanon side is definitely more comfortable for me. Obviously Moby Dick and race have a fraught relationship and it's definitely worth discussing, especially in the context of fandom. I just think it's nice to take a break from the discourse and appreciate what we as modern readers can like about these very old characters, and add to them in ways Melville couldn't.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. Spoilers for a 173 year old book but uh. He dies. It would be very nice if he didn't die haha. I think Queequeg and Ishmael should have made it back to shore together and went on to live in a cozy cottage somewhere warm and dry, never to return to sea. Maybe they start a whale-themed publishing business after the explosive success of Ishmael's book.

Denethor: How I feel about this character As you know I am extremely supportive of your Denethorposting and blorbofication. I think the best Denethor media I've consumed was this one series of fics mostly focused on Faramir and Boromir growing up together, but it had some really wonderful characterizations (citing my source: The Tragicomedy of the Children of the Other Húrin by Hwestalas). It had some really lovely Denethor/Finduilas one-shots too! (I've seen some fic recs for that pairing on your blog that I REALLY need to get around to reading) So overall I think he's a really interesting character and I love when his relationship with Finduilas is explored.

All the people I ship romantically with this character As previously stated, Finduilas of Dol Amroth!

My non-romantic OTP for this character Not totally sure! His relationships with his sons are definitely the most important in canon, so I love different interpretations and angles of how he feels about them.

My unpopular opinion about this character Movie Denethor is much-reviled (feels like Faramir's character assassination dialed up to 11) and while I think that evil tomato man logically works as a narrative device in a time-constrained storytelling medium, I honestly think with a bit of tweaking he could have served a more better role. PJ didn't even give him a chance, smh.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. Kind of wish Finduilas had stuck around long enough to be an actual character and play off of Denethor's. LOTR has enough dead moms, methinks.

New volume! Thanks for keeping on! I took some notes for chapter 26!

Wukong (no more Wade Giles uwu) demands that Tripitaka receive his three meals and six teas every day. That's not bad for a mendicant ascetic! I'd quite like to be guaranteed that, hahaha! There's a typo calling him the Tank Monk later in the chapter, very funny.

It's funny how reading Pinyin, which is all anyone uses now, feels unusual, while individual trees having names like Long-life grass of reverted cinnabar seems normal. You can really get used to anything.

I was quite surprised that the immortals are described as youngish-looking! We usually imagine a Greek philosopher-looking sage here, but even Plato was a virile, hairy wrestler once, I suppose! They always carry around gourds with stuff in them; I've seen the like in movies, but were they ever made of gourds, do you think? Pumpkins weren't around in Tang times, at least I think not.

Is Eight Rules and Idiot the same character? The switching between in the same paragraph seems to go against best writing advice, but I daresay I'll not write anything that will survive 500 years! Incidentally, he quotes a saying "put on the cap to increase riches." Is that a real saying or did he misunderstand something comedically?

There are several beautiful poems about specific natural sites here, and I wondered where Chinese people would learn these. Would they have to read them? Are they carved into stones near these rivers and mountains? Is poetry a part of the curriculum? Accented Cinema on youtube said poetry is a large part of Chinese culture, and I'm jealous. 5. Poems are very important in all cultures I'd say, and of course also in China. People who got an education in the past not only had to learn how to write poems but also to learn them from memory. For the imperial exams you were examined on your poetry. I think normal people like you and me in China would have learnt them from memory when a passing singer said them and retained. People used to work their brains more in the past, methinks. If you cared for poetry and you were a peasant, you'd try to memorize it and say it to others so you weren't a base man, but an intelligent peasant, closer to heavens because poetry comes from heaven etc.

5. It's only normal that immortals have jade things :) Maybe they lack in other commodities, but would you rather have a precious jade cup or ten IKEA mugs? I am sure they didn't even buy it, but they just sprung out of thin air in their house when they became immortals.

Most things change, thank god for those that don’t

For 15th June 2024

As I drive to the airport to pick Arnav this afternoon, serendipitously, the song “Tu hi re”, from the movie “Bombay” played on the radio. This was Ketu’s favourite song and my mind, in a tizzy, just flashed back!

As I drove over the sea link whizzing past the collage of glass fronted, sea facing  skyscrapers,  I wondered, what would Ketu have thought of this new world, this new world with social media and all this virtual stuff, evolving ever so rapidly over the last 5 years, in particular. 

Bombay has been transformed beyond everyone’s imagination, with fancy SUVs zipping over the clover leaf exits going north and south,  one arm above the other, linking the coastal road at various points. The Metro, the subway, the works, incredible! 

It’s a whole new world and we are all trying to cope. 

Of course, being the forward thinker that Ketu was, he would have easily embraced the tech side. Being open minded even accepted the new, morphed, extremely fluid social order. 

But I’m not sure what he’d have thought about this new cricket format(T20) and the changed F1 rules. 

And I’m sure as a family we would have seen a Grand Prix for one of the birthdays. Monaco methinks. He would never settle for less. 

And he could spot winners from a mile. 

Infosys, which is a huge chunk of our portfolio, became his favourite company way back in 1995 when they had barely setup their Bangalore campus. 

AR Rahman, his favourite musician, when he had made his debut and his early films. 

Yesterday, Ketu would have turned 55. He would have stood taller- with his heart filled with pride seeing both his children shine. I see him fully supporting them to follow their dreams. 

Yesterday Arnav turned 26. (I kept thinking 25, but was promptly corrected- yikes- how did he become so old…and how old does that make me?)

Arnav is more like Ketu than I could ever imagine (in many many ways…!).  

With his business brain  and entrepreneurial spirit, sharp analytical mind and a flair for numbers. 

With his preference for printed shirts, and spending his birthday with his friends over his family and his passion for live music shows. 

His calm persona (from the outside) and the softie (sometimes fiery) from within. 

Arnav- who had now grown up so much that he has quit his second job and hopes to start up on his own and “Do a dhandha” he says, would have been seed funded by the risk loving father. 

As for Sanjana- I’m sure he would have enjoyed discussing world politics and all her radical ideas. He would have encouraged her to follow her heart, be brave, believe in herself and apply to the best universities in the world to study political science. 

Thank god for music and movies that never change, keeping our memories sacred.

Right so this week feels like the longest week this year so far, it just feels like it should be the weekend already no way it's only been FOUR days of it. I'm not a fan of this part of February at all, doesn't feel like the shortest month of the year. But we'll manage, we'll get to the end of it safely; and what awaits us there? Fucking MARCH!! Holy shit spring is so close I feel like I can just reach out and touch it. Even though technically it only truly begins once Aries season hits. We can still enjoy the symbolism of it all methinks. Anyway, a water pipe exploded at my office and we had to work from home this week. Kind of a bummer for me because I was SO excited to finally reunite with my work friend (and possibly meet our new coworker too who's not that new anymore and everyone hates her for various reasons apparently lol), but we might have a movie marathon this Sunday.

Also, this week I made a green pea stew with veggies and chicken, and it actually came out incredible. I was craving it and there are usually ready-made portions at the store, but I wasn't sure if I'd find any of this specific dish, and also I was kind of in the mood to cook something myself. Finding a thorough recipe that included all the ingredients I wanted was a fucking headache, but I managed to put everything together nicely and I had it for dinner for like 3 or 4 days (just finished it today actually). And I didn't even get tired of it cause, well, it's really fucking delicious what can I say. And it was easy to prepare too, so I'll probably remake it next week. I've been in a highly gourmand mood lately, specifically with these charcuterie boards I've been making this week in the evenings. And I'm planning on researching more funky recipes for the weekend. I'm kind of craving some pizza for tomorrow evening, I've been wanting a Crunchwrap Supreme for THEEE longest time, but I never find myself in the right mood to go all the way to the mall. And idk if Taco Bell even delivers, but I prefer to get my own food, even if I take it to go. So, idk tomorrow it might be pizza time, it might be adventure quest time. I just hope it's gonna be sunny and nice again. Today we finally have some decent sunlight in what feels like an eternity. I can't wait to go for a little walk, the sun no longer sets as soon as I finish work and I can get a decent half hour of sunny outdoor time.

My bf got fired from his not-job, the boss lady apparently came to the store one day and told him it'd be best if he didn't show up anymore, because he wasn't "good with the register". My bf was actually starting to get the hang of it, without any training whatsoever, plus he did like 4 days' worth of totally free labor. 🙄 And then he got another interview for a call center, and they made him call actual real-life customers to promote some event business they had. And mind you, these were randomly generated numbers from some shady database, idk it was overall so scammy. AND IT WAS FREE LABOR AGAIN for basically what was supposed to be A JOB INTERVEW after which he was rejected, ofc. Like how the fuck are these employers getting so bold nowadays, making applicants work for free only to then send them home. Fuuuuck off and don't ever say shit like "nobody wants to work" anymore.

The Next Animated Blockbuster Heavies, CONTINUED...

A little while ago, I made this post. A sort of culmination to my retrospective on Top 10 animated features at the box office over the years...

Three of the movies I listed and made predictions for, all 2023 movies, came out...

THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE unsurprisingly put up a hell of a fight, making $1.361 billion at the worldwide box office. This places it, currently, at #3. Behind THE LION KING (2019) and FROZEN II...

SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE opened pretty big, and had some solid legs from there, but that picture was definitely more frontloaded than MARIO was. Overseas, it did okay at best, not matching its domestic total. Still, $690m+, excellent.

WISH is not going to make all that much... Not the heavy it could've been, like director Chris Buck's two FROZEN movies...

So, 2023 is pretty much over, unless MIGRATION really surprises. But I don't see that happening. $500-600m maximum, methinks. Possibly SING numbers. A leggy Christmas season movie, but not among the biggest ever. Why would I expect that out of a modest duck picture?

Some delays happened, too, between back then (early 2023) and now.

KUNG FU PANDA 4, INSIDE OUT 2, and DESPICABLE ME 4 are next, as BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE was delayed indefinitely due to it being faaaar from ready for a 3/29/2024 release a little after the release of ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE. Like, it was very clear that the two movies were NOT in production in tandem.

My guess is that the third SPIDER-VERSE movie debuts sometime in 2025. At the earliest... 2026 seems likelier now, which is fair. We waited about 4 1/2 years between INTO and ACROSS, so...

The other 2024 movie that I thought had a shot at getting into the Top 10 is the sequel/prequel to the #1 movie itself, THE LION KING (2019). MUFASA: THE LION KING recently vacated the summer for the holidays, as it now opens December 20, 2024... While I don't really see this movie making anywhere near what the first one did, it's still possible? Maybe? I dunno, I think it performs similarly to ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS and MALEFICENT 2, a follow-up to a remake that I don't think too many folks were clamoring for.

That rounds out 2024... I think INSIDE OUT 2 is the likeliest candidate of those four movies to make the most moolah. Maybe not take home "highest earning animated movie" champion status, but the biggest of the year period... and DESPICABLE ME 4 has a very good shot at it considering how many years it had been since the last mainline movie, and how well MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU did. Heck, the long gap between KUNG FU PANDA 3 and 4 could really boost KUNG FU PANDA 4 as well. Characters/stories people love, long wait for the new one, the kids who loved them being nostalgic, etc.

Who knows, like I said in the earlier piece, maybe there will be some surprises along the way? Watch, THE GARFIELD MOVIE ends up breaking the Top 10... I mean, I don't see why not? Garfield is a god, a titan whose power we just cannot comprehend. This may be to the 2004 live-action/CG GARFIELD movie with Bill Murray what the SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE was to the 1993 SUPER MARIO BROS. film. Certainly having "The Movie" in the title and the picture being all-animated solidifies that! GARFIELD the comic strip debuted in 1978, 45 years ago. That predates Mario's first appearance as "Jumpman" in DONKEY KONG by three years... You could argue Garfield is older than that, even. Jim Davis debuted Garfield in JON, essentially an early version of GARFIELD that run from 1976 to early 1978 in a single Indiana newspaper. Okay, so I'm largely being facetious here, I don't think THE GARFIELD MOVIE cracks a billion... But who the heck knows! A movie like THE WILD ROBOT or the next WDAS movie could do it, haha.

However, I think a lot of the Q3 and Q4 animated films could be up in the air, release date-wise, should the animation strike happen when the Animation Guild contract is up.

2025 is a little spottier. A few movies have concrete release dates, none of them I feel really have a clear shot at the big billion and the Top 10. 2026 is just some dates without titles. Still too early in the game...

So, we do know that the likes of SHREK 5, ZOOTOPIA 2, FROZEN III, and TOY STORY 5 are on the horizon. Entries in beloved franchises, some of which whose movies are on the Top 10 or are very close to the Top 10. It's also obvious that a SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE sequel *will* happen, and possibly just obliterate the first one in sales.

THE LION KING (2019) is at #1, FROZEN II is #2, FROZEN is #4. The first MINIONS is #6, TOY STORY 4 is #7, TOY STORY 3 is #8, DESPICABLE ME 3 is #9, ZOOTOPIA is #11...

FINDING DORY is at #10, and there seem to be no plans for another one of those Pixar fish movies at the moment. Ditto THE INCREDIBLES, as INCREDIBLES 2 is #5... But you just know they'll happen, because Disney likes money, and if TOY STORY 5 can exist despite how both 3 & 4 ended... Yeah, there will be a FINDING Somebody 3 movie and an INCREDIBLES 3, and they're sure to tear up the box office.

But again, something that isn't a sequel to a beloved favorite could make a splash. After all, Walt Disney Animation Studios got the big billion out of FROZEN and ZOOTOPIA individually. Both movies were not expected to do anywhere near as well as they did. I remember, back in mid-to-late 2013, that the scuttlebutt was that FROZEN would be lucky to make TANGLED numbers... And that ZOOTOPIA looked like some "CHICKEN LITTLE/DreamWorks" thing.

Sometimes Pixar got close with a not-sequel. FINDING NEMO back in 2003 - without the aid of 3D/IMAX/premium formats and with much lower tickets prices compared to now and a smaller international market - nearly made $870m on its initial run. INSIDE OUT and COCO were big 800s, too. Most Pixar originals hover around $600-750m on a good day. The likes of THE INCREDIBLES, RATATOUILLE, and UP. You know.

Outside of Disney and Pixar, you've got Illumination, whose biggest original movie was THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS, which made over $800m worldwide. No original since got there, though SING did pretty great for itself. I'm not sure where MIGRATION can land, but who knows. Is the public gung-ho for funny ducks at the moment? You can never guess where the zeitgeist will be. Only when the movie comes out, you find out.

DreamWorks' highest-earning not-sequel movie is KUNG FU PANDA, which made over $630m worldwide back in 2008. No 3D, no IMAX, lower ticket prices, adjusts to something a lot bigger today I reckon. Behind that is THE CROODS, which made $580m+ in 2013, and then MADAGASCAR, which made $530m+ in 2005, and then THE BOSS BABY made $520m+ in 2017. Nothing after BOSS BABY did that kind of money: Not ABOMINABLE, and certainly not the post-Omicron BAD GUYS. Maybe THE WILD ROBOT, from Chris Sanders - who directed THE CROODS and HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON as you likely already know, becomes the studio's next big not-sequel smash hit.

Sony Animation's biggest not-sequel was THE SMURFS with $560m+. INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, for an all-animated film, is second at $380m+. No original movies are on their theatrical slate at the moment. FIXED is finished and rated by the MPA, but is without a release date nor any indication of where it'll play: Streaming or theaters? K-POP DEMON HUNTERS is to be a Netflix release. Everything else, like BUBBLE, TUT, TAO, etc.? Up in the air.

Paramount Animation, can't say. All of their not-sequels went belly-up or got re-routed to streaming/VOD: THE LITTLE PRINCE got offloaded to Netflix, WONDER PARK bombed hard in 2019, RUMBLE, UNDER THE BOARDWALK and THE TIGER'S APPRENTICE all skipped a wide theatrical release. No not-sequel movie has a release date, the only things close to that are still parts of franchises: TRANSFORMERS ONE, THE SMURF MOVIE, the untitled AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER movie, etc.

So, we gotta see where everything's at by the middle of next year... But I'll be curious to see how KUNG FU PANDA 4, THE GARFIELD MOVIE, INSIDE OUT 2, and DESPICABLE ME 4 - the movies that I think are guaranteed to meet their release dates - will do.

Prompt: One night at a first years’ hangout, Nobara “reveals” something about you in a game of Never Have I Ever. When Yuji begs you for details, you make a bargain to keep it hidden until graduation night. All was well until that night arrived…

As the sun set and the moon rose on a Friday evening, you and the first years all convened for your weekly tradition. One by one, each person had knocked on your door with a shareable dish in hand.

Two plain knocks, Megumi. He waited for you to open the door and brought a few bags of microwave popcorn, sitting adjacent to the window, on a bean-bag chair.

Five knocks, patterned, Nobara. She also waited for you to open the door. She made cupcakes and sat criss-crossed on your rug

Three knocks, “(Y/N).” Three more, “(Y/N).” and so on, Yuji. When you didn’t answer, he just let himself in. He brought pigs in a blanket, plus his favorite shitty movie, and flopped dramatically on your bed.

When all friends had convened, Itadori had showed you and the group what he had brought for everyone to watch on that night.

When he revealed the title, Nobara and Megumi audibly groaned.

“Yuji did you seriously bring Baywatch? Again?” Megumi asked with exasperation in his voice.

“What?! It’s a fantastic movie!” The pink haired boy barked in response.

“I’m seriously not watching Baywatch.” Nobara stated, matter-of-factly.

“See! Even Nobara agrees with me.” Megumi said with a groan.

“Fine!”

“Heyyyyy! Why don’t we play a game?!” You asked suddenly, with hopes of alleviating the tension.

When you brought up the idea, you had no idea that the four of you would agree to play Never Have I Ever. Currently, you had the most fingers up, and Nobara was not happy about that.

“Time to cut (Y/N) down a few levels. I know plenty about them.” She sing-songed.

The girl looked at you with a tinge of menace in her eyes. You glared daggers in response back at her, no way would she reveal your secrets that way!

“Never have I ever been in love with the same boy since my first year!” she chimed with a close-eyed smile.

“Nobara!” You hissed, slowly putting down your pointer finger down, “That’s totally cheating!”

“It’s so not cheating!” The brunette cooed, holding up her own hands once again. “Now it’s your turn!”

You rolled your eyes and prepared to ask Nobara another question. However, before you could open your mouth, a sudden mousy voice interrupted you.

“Uh… what did she mean by that?”

You swore that in that moment your brain physically stopped working. “I- uh-“. As your pink haired best friend stared at you with furrowed brows and a cocked head, you could only sputter with widened eyes. “It means- uh- it’s um-“

“Use your brain, dummy! I mean exactly what I said!” The quick-witted girl spat back.

You could’ve sworn that in that moment, Yuji had just had the biggest epiphany of his life. The pinkette’s eyes had begun to sparkle. His smile was bright and joyful. “Heeeeey! You should totally tell us!”

“NO! No way!” You whined in reply.

“Pleaaaaaase?”

You couldn’t exactly tell Yuji that he was the subject of his own excitement and curiosity.

“Aaaah! No!”

“Tell us, tell us, tell us, tell-“ he began chanting.

Your body moved faster than your brain. Whether it would completely screw you over, or bless you, was up to your own discretion. Regardless, before you even could internalize your action, you had slapped both of your hands over Yuji’s mouth.

The two of you locked eyes…

The sorcerer-in-training flushed a gorgeous shade of crimson, the corners of his lips upturning. He began to giggle nervously, eyes screwing shut out of awkwardness.

You also shared his embarrassment, face heating. Your eyes were once again wide as you suddenly squeaked. You couldn’t help but feel absolute mortification, giggling alongside him.

“I’ll make you a deal.”

Yuji stopped his laughter and opened his eyes, cocking an eyebrow at you. “Mhm.” He said from behind your hands.

“I’ll tell you on graduation night.” You said, feeling a weight lifting from your chest.

The sorcerer in training grew visibly excited. Well, you could only see the excitement in his eyes. That excitement faded after menace kindled in his irises. The pink haired boy decided to remove your hands by force, opening his mouth and licking a stripe up the hand covering his lips.

“YUJI!” You yelped, immediately retracting your hands.

As your best friend fell into boisterous laughter, hugging himself, you realized why you had fallen in love with him in the first place…

After wiping your tears away for the nth time, Nobara adjusted the cap that sat atop of your head. She stood parallel to you, smiling bittersweetly as she adjusted your gown.

“We did it, (N/N).” She managed to whisper, all previous attempts to hold back her tears being thwarted.

The edges of your lips upturned as you stared back at yourself in the mirror. “I’m not ready to leave.” you admitted, turning to her and chuckling through your tears.

“We aren’t really leaving.” She reminded you, pulling you into a hug, “We’ll still be in contact. Plus, I’m thinking about asking everyone to work together once we get on our feet.”

“I’d like that a lot.”

To ruin the sweet moment, three sudden knocks echoed upon your door “(Y/N).” Three more, “(Y/N).” Three more, “(Y/N).”

“Go away, Itadori!” Nobara growled in response, once again adjusting your cap and gown.

Yuji, however, did not go away. He opened the door and immediately covered his eyes, “I know, I know, I’m not supposed to see the nearlywed on their wedding day. I don’t want to give any of us bad luck, but I had to see you both.”

You let out a teary chuckle, fanning your eyes and trying to re-center yourself.

“Oh! (Y/N)!” Upon hearing your sniffles, the pink haired boy lowered his hands and rushed to your side, pulling you into a gentle embrace. “Please don’t cry. Everything’s going to be alright.”

Yuji held you as gently as possible, treating you as if you would break. He held your head close to his chest, resting his chin on the top of your head. “I promise, It’s okay, (N/N). This isn’t goodbye.”

You smiled and hugged him back, tears refusing to stop.

“Hey.” He whispered, bringing your head up to look at him. The sorcerer-in-training cupped both sides of your face, wiping your tears with his thumbs. “You know I hate seeing you cry, (Y/N).”

As soon as your tears had dried, you and your two friends held your hands as you entered the hall for graduation. There, you met with Megumi and took your seats.

After the ceremony, tears were shed, diplomas were given and you and your friends were finally ready…

“Third years, turn your tassels!”

You and your friends did just as Principal Yaga instructed, throwing your caps in the air shortly after. In the midst of the joy and celebration, you turned to Yuji and hugged him tightly.

“(Y/N)!” Nobara called to you with a little urgency, “Yuji, I’m stealing away our best friend real quick.”

You broke away from the hug, running up to your friend. When you arrived at her side, Nobara whispered two words to you: “Tell him.”

Your heart began to race. Whether from panic or excitement, you’d never know. But, Nobara was right, you had to do this. You inhaled and nodded to yourself, blowing the breath out to calm yourself down. What’s the worst that could happen? You won’t even see him that much anymore…

Returning to Yuji, you were met with him flashing you his signature beaming smile. Without hesitation, he wrapped you in his arms once again.

“Hey.” You said after a moment, escaping his hug and grabbing him by the shoulders.

He cocked an eyebrow, pupils meeting yours.

You felt your face warm up in embarrassment. Dropping your arms to your sides, you spoke up in a gentle voice. “So uh. Remember a few months ago. When we played that game? And I promised to tell you what Nobara meant on graduation night? ”

“Oh yeah!” He chimed.

You grabbed one of your wrists to keep yourself from fidgeting. “I um… so when she said the prompt for the round, do you remember what it was?”

“Not whatsoever.” He replied instantly.

“Let’s um… let’s sit down for this.”

You gestured toward the seats nearby, but Yuji simply plopped on the grass below him. He sat criss-crossed, resting his face on his hands. His cheeks were squished and he was smiling brightly.

“God you don’t make this easy.” You said with a nervous chuckle. “So, the prompt was ‘never have I ever been in love with the same boy ever since my first year’. And remember, I put my finger down?”

“Right.”

“So uh- I’m-“

“Go ahead, I won’t judge you.”

“It’s-“ you groaned and threw your head in your hands, “Damn it. It’s you, Yuji!”

The pink haired boy blinked and paused for a second.

“And I know this probably isn’t what you were expecting and-“

As you rambled on, he began to slowly crawl toward you.

“I’ve wanted to tell you for years and I was just so worried about the whole thing and-“

“(Y/N)-“ he sat on the backs of his calves, straight in front of your face.

“I didn’t want you to think I was weird or anything like that-“

“(Y-“

“If you don’t like me back it’s okay! I completely understand, I am used to reject-“

“(Y/N)!!” He gripped both of your frantically waving wrists to get your attention.

You re-entered reality and realized that Yuji was knelt right in front of you, staring at you with delight in his eyes. After releasing your hands, he tucked a piece of hair behind your ear and tilted your chin up to meet his eye.

Your breath caught in your lungs as you stared into his irises.

“Will you shut up for a second so I can kiss you?”

Before you could reply to him, the pink haired boy cupped both sides of your face and gently pressed your lips together in a sweet kiss. The movement was slow and passionate, as if he had waited years for it.

When the two of you finally broke apart, you stared at each other for a short moment.

Yuji took out his phone in an instant, opening up to his clock. He tapped a few icons, opening up to a stopwatch.

“Two years, fifty days, two hours, ten minutes and twelve seconds.”

“I- what..?”

“Two years, fifty days, two hours, ten minutes and twelve seconds.”

“Why are you-“

“That’s how long it took…” he replied, signature smile creeping upon his beautiful face, “That’s how long I’ve waited to kiss you. How long I’ve waited to… to tell you I love you.”

Taken aback, you blinked a few times. “Wait a minute, when did this all start?”

“The night of our first movie night, I told Megumi I was in love with you. He didn’t believe me at first, and to be honest I wasn’t sure either… But, as we got closer, I knew.”

“Yuji-“ the tears that arrived during the ceremony decided to make a second appearance.

“I’d steal the sun for you to keep you smiling, give you my own heart when yours breaks, do anything to keep you from crying… I love you, (Y/N). I love you with every cell in my body.”

With a teary smile, you inquired: “Did you really wait that long?”

“I really did.” Yuji cupped both side of your face once more, rubbing your cheeks with his thumbs.

“Then you better kiss me again.”

There was no need to tell him twice. As he once again kissed you with an innumerable amount of endearment and intimacy, he was glad that he had taken Megumi’s advice to tell you how he felt at graduation…

Hamlet @ the Stratford Festival

I had the chance to catch Hamlet at Stratford this year, and oh my God, Amaka Umeh is a force of fucking nature and probably the best Hamlet i’ll ever see in my life. It was overall a very good production despite some Stratford Festival-itis and directed by a man disease, mostly because Amaka Umeh...was on stage. 

oh no, tumblr user lesbianedmund! you cry. i don’t live in canada and/or i don’t have the money to see it!!. fear not. i took copious notes. also it’ll probably be online w/ stratfest @ home, so eventually it may be dispersed to the masses. and you can watch Amaka Umeh do to be or not to be in 2020. it’s amazing. all the details are beneath the cut and there are many.

first off. Amaka Umeh (she/they/he) is the most amazing Hamlet I have ever seen. They are the definitive Hamlet. Why are we still making Hamlets when their Hamlet exists. She delivered monologues in ways I never thought of. She was so alive as Hamlet it was insane. For real I think they’re the best actor I’ve ever seen. Adjoa Andoh type of compelling. I don’t think I can really exaggerate how fantastic he is.

before you ask: no Fortinbras. Gertrude could not see the ghost. Gertrude knew the wine was poisoned. Hamlet’s madness was not really fake. Ophelia did not hear to be or not to be.

overarching thoughts: so much Stratford Festival syndrome acting in this. ie boring as fuck acting. like they’re saying words. they’re even saying the words really well. but jesus christ it’s so boring. it feels so dead and i can’t put my finger on why. hate it

Hamlet was beyond amazing. Horatio was good, Laertes was good, loved the players scene (SOOOO amateur theatre it was perfect down to the ukulele), r&g were good, Polonius i warmed up to, Claudius, Gertrude*, and Ophelia were just so boring, ghost was too standard ghost-y & i hated that. also, I think it didn’t do its women very well

* I saw a Gertrude understudy, and not Maev Beaty, so my Gertrude thoughts might be different than someone who saw the main cast Gertrude

there was really annoying underscoring at some parts, especially the ending. fuck underscoring in theatre i didn’t come to see a movie i came to see a PLAY

before the play started there was a glass rectangular coffin on stage with the dead Hamlet Sr in it. the set had two levels and it’s a thrust kind of stage. on the top level there was two-way glass making a little box kind of deal which could be mirrors or another part of the stage very cool

the second scene opened with the coffin of Hamlet’s father being covered with a tablecloth and Hamlet was standing at the end of it (back to centre audience) and was very upset

everyone gathered around to clink their glasses but Hamlet just leant back in his chair and drank the whole glass. Laertes was wearing a shirt with butterflies on it under his suit? fashion icon

just the way ‘a little more than kin and less than kind’ was delivered was my first clue that this was going to be something absurdly fantastic. Hamlet did the whole thing very obviously grief-stricken. half his lines sounded like he was about to burst into tears and it was just. so. good.

the ‘o’ in o that this too too sullied flesh was so raw. that’s how you do the shakespeare guttural ‘o’ sound. yeah. also the o god! god! was delivered almost like protesting the fixing canon gainst self slaughter part. so good.

Laertes and Hamlet had a secret handshake which was hilarious

Ophelia and Hamlet made out with ophelia sitting on the coffin table which is. something i mean we know that hamlet thinks that’s his dad’s coffin so.

when Hamlet says ‘methinks i see my father’ to horatio, he whips the tablecloth off the table and

IT’S JUST A NORMAL TABLE. NO DEAD FATHER. IT DID NOT MOVE. GOD I LOVE THEATRE AND PRACTICAL EFFECTS.

and then the ‘in my mind’s eye’ was very rushed and Hamlet was clearly stunned by the fact that it wasn’t the coffin.

the ghost was really boring however the super low fog rolling across the steps of the stage looked fantastic. also the ghost of Hamlet Sr. saw Gertrude and Claudius like. making out in the two way glass cube

the Polonius and Reynaldo scene was actually kind of funny! however I think Polonius losing his train of thought should maybe have been sprinkled a little more through the play because my aunt thought the actor just corpsed lmao

to overhear Hamlet, Polonius called Claudius and put his phone in his pocket and Claudius and Gertrude went out in the hall. Polonius stood under the top layer of the stage, and then

enter Hamlet above doing to be or not to be. they moved it! wild. 

i reallllllly wish they did more with this. like how worried is Gertrude now? give me more. but super interesting in concept? however ‘Hamlet is a suicide text, it’s time to teach it like one’ has given me strong opinions about ophelia having to be there for the monologue

and then Hamlet went into his fake madness and messed around with Polonius. all of Polonius’ asides were done to the phone in his pocket.

Rosencrantz hit his juul like 8 times during this scene. also r&g and Hamlet had a secret handshake too.

the players were fun. the one guy started doing all the world’s a stage before hamlet got him doing the right monologue

they put this weird little like mic pack on Ophelia’s thigh and then she had a little thing around her neck or ear? so they could listen in?

going to be honest i don’t know why they did this. did you just want ophelia to untie her wrap dress. this is what i mean about directed by a man disease

Hamlet was just so confused about everything and then lashed out it was. ow. dude i don’t think this is a joke anymore ahahah

also when Hamlet said as a crab move backwards he took a selfie with Polonius. that whole bit was so fuckign funny

Horatio filmed Claudius on a phone during the mousetrap

Polonius pretended to be stabbed when he was reenacting being Julius Caesar it was funny he did et tu brute and Hamlet pretended to cut his throat

also the band played that ushering in music they play outside of the theatre (bc stratfest is like that) before the play for the mousetrap except now they have Danish flags on their instruments instead of stratfest ones

the play opened with four of the players on stage one of them playing the ukulele and singing a goofy song it was SO amateur theatre

when Claudius shouted for the lights to come up the house lights came up and it was intermission

Claudius’ ‘my offence is rank’ monologue was done TO Polonius!! he confessed to Polonius! and Hamlet didn’t hear it at all.Cclaudius was clearly kind of torn up about what he did and feeling guilt but he was still boring. lol

Polonius was shot through a curtain and Lo And Behold he was shot in the place where Hamlet pretended to stab him while he was pretending to be caesar

Gertrude also could not see the ghost and hamlet was so distraught

Hamlet was almost apprehended by some guards while he was walking around waving a gun after killing Polonius and he set it on the ground then went BLEH!!! and ran off

in the two way glass box we saw Ophelia discover the dead body of Polonius and she screamed but instead of noise it was like this cool discordant trumpet sound?

Ophelia was so boring. like it was just not. also she was wearing a medical gown and…an ankle monitor?

when Laertes came back he was wearing a puffer jacket and a black bucket hat.

i think he and fanny pack Tybalt from the 2021 r+j would be friends

the first gravedigger had his worksuit unzipped and he had a skull tattoo also the other gravedigger was actually the priest. he was smoking

at the ‘a tanner will last you nine year’ Hamlet and the gravedigger (who are both dark-skinned and playing on the word tanner as in darker not like profession) fist-bumped

alas poor Yorick was delivered kind of sadly at the start? was very very very good

when Hamlet realized the funeral was Ophelia’s he just hugged Horatio for a very long time :((

you know Amaka Umeh is a great actor bc they managed to deliver ‘would eat a crocodile’? as frightening. not a SINGLE PERSON laughed in the whole ass festival theatre.

when the duel was proposed to Hamlet, Horatio kept gesturing ‘no’ and shaking his head

at some point hamlet kissed Horatio on the cheek but i don’t remember where

Laertes accepted Hamlet’s apology and they did their handshake again

also, at the start Hamlet was in all black and now he’s in all white: Laertes was in red, then white and black, and now all black.

Gertrude realized the drink was poisoned and stopped hamlet from drinking, and the i will my lord was super interesting.

also Claudius kind of willingly drank the poison

the final monologues from Hamlet are something i WISH i could just revisit again and again they were so well done. so complex. not just one note i’m dying but fear and wonder and amazement and collapsing and oh god it was AMAZING. Horatio held Hamlet and the final ‘the rest is silence. O!’ was done almost with euphoria? like it was just so beautiful and interesting

it ended with ‘flights of angels’, lights went down for a moment then picked back up in a strobe thing and we saw the shadow of king hamlet and Horatio goes “who’s there?”

what the fuck. what the fuckkkkkk. cyclical nature of tragedy *starts bawling*

This is quite long, but I still hope it’s entertaining!

1. describe how you first started writing and when you first posted: I’ve always wanted to write. I know that I only began publishing this year (January 2020) but years back, I always would open up a blank document and just... write. Lack of confidence and language barriers (I wanted to write in English, but it isn’t my first language and I only became fluent three years ago) have made it so that I would never finish a story. I think we all had our wattpad moment but even on there I would never really publish because the platform just wasn’t right. But then I discovered ao3, where I’d read fics and also improve my English. Then I found out about fests, and I decided to participate in one last year (2019 BLFF) and my first fic then came out! 

And ever since, I’ve been able to write and finish what I start. It’s as if the lock that had been put to block my creativity had been destroyed; posting my first completed fic has acted as a turning point. I was extremely nervous when I first posted, still am, but now I have this need to write and I love sharing what I write and ever since I became a writer, my life’s been a lot better!

2. which of your characters do you typically resonate most closely with? do you base any characters off of yourself?: I switch between Louis’ POV, or Harry’s POV depending on the story; I tend to sprinkle a bit of myself in the characters I write, but then again they’re also completely different from me! I’ve never based a character completely on myself, which I find quite boring (haha); sometime unconsciously, I’d write a character based on someone I knew. I think some examples on how my characters can look a bit like me, is Hamlet in a sea of mist which has gotten his clear-headedness from me; or in my Murder Mystery fic, the way I describe Louis’ fear is heavily based on how I feel whenever I’m faced with something that makes me uncomfortable.

3. where do you often find inspiration?: art (paintings, music), books, quotes, poems and movies!

4. has quarantine helped or hindered your writing process?: having so much free time on my hands has definitely helped; I would seek refuge within my stories, to spice up quarantine!

5. do you listen to music/noise while you write or do you prefer silence? I love love love playing classical music (Chopin, Saint-Saens, Debussy, Yiruma, Einaudi, Faulkner, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Mozart to name a few) while writing. I can’t write when it’s anything else. But I can also write when there’s nothing; hearing the rhythmic clicking sound of the keyboard as I press over its keys can be relaxing to me.

6. what is your biggest writing pet peeve in your writing or in general?: hm in my writing I guess I tend to write very long sentences, and also I still do grammar mistakes. I hope to work on those points. I also find the way I space my fics very annoying (which is why I’ve begun making outlines!).

7. describe your ideal writing setup: in a couch or a bed with several pillows piled up behind my back, classical music in my ears and a steaming cup of tea next to me.

8. favorite time of day to write?: I love writing when it’s very early, usually after I’ve woken up and freshened up. I don’t like writing when it’s too late because I’m not a night owl; rather an early bird. I especially love when I write and it’s still dark outside, then slowly dawn breaks in and the sky becomes tainted in warm hues of orange, yellow and sometimes even purple and pink.

9. favorite genre to write + one you’d like to try writing in the future?: I love writing fantasy, horror, suspense, action, thrillers. Especially angst and hurt/comfort, as well as slow burn. I’d like in the future to explore sci-fi and magical realism!

10. do you struggle with writer’s block? how do you typically overcome it? I haven’t suffered from writer block so far, which I’m glad!!

11. what is the easiest part of your writing process and the most difficult? writing is the easiest, but outlining (as in, coming up with plot ideas) is quite difficult for me. Also dialogues can be a bit of a problem to me.

12. how do you come up with original characters? (if applicable): I just make them up in my mind, and create them when they’re necessary to the story, giving them personality traits that will help the story develop.

13. what is your favorite and least favorite word? it’s hard to choose cause I have several but favourite: petrichor and least favourite: big

14. what is one thing about your writing that you’re really proud of and one thing you hope to continue working at?: I am proud of the way I describe, which allows me to really settle the story in its verse. I love describing, giving importance to the ordinary. Also feelings; I love describing them and exploring how I can translate them into words, so that the reader can feel them. But I have to work on my dialogues methinks.

15. what work of yours has your favorite ‘verse/world building? how did you come up with it?: those who from the Pit of Hell, roam to seek their prey on earth. I’ve always wanted to begin writing thrillers/Murder mystery fics and with that one I think I managed to? I had read an article on forensic medicine back in the 19th century and it sparked this fic’s plot!

16. what font and size do you write in? single spaced or double?: Arial, 11pt, single spaced

17. what is a typo(s) you find yourself making consistently?: I don’t know if this can be considered as a typo but I tend to repeat, within a paragraph, A LOT my character’s name instead of using pronouns. This is because I’m afraid of confusion when another character arrives in the scene.

18. (if applicable) do you separate fic writing from fandom?: I don’t know if I understood the question properly, but yes? When I use Louis or Harry in my fics, they’re completely different from real-Louis or real-Harry; they’re my characters, they only have the same names, but their personality reflects in nothing real-life Harry and Louis. 

I think to answer this better: I do separate fic writing from fandom, but I still think that fanfics are important to a fandom; I haven’t heard of a fandom without fanfics! Fanfics spice up fandoms, I reckon, they’re important to bring people together.

19. what emotion is your favorite to write? which is the most difficult?: Angst is my favourite thing to write, as well as fear. And I struggle with writing humour, I’m not a funny person to be honest

20. what is one thing you hope readers always take away from your works?: I always hope they like my writing and the plot, also the way I portray my characters. I want my readers to feel the writing, and the story in general. I just want my readers to truly enjoy what they read from me <3

21. what is the best and worst writing advice you’ve ever received?: I was told to always write very specifically and to fit my writing into a mould — don’t write ‘he’s’ but ‘he is’, or write shorter sentences, or stop describing so much. But in the end, there isn’t one way of writing — write the way you want.

22. which one of your works would you most want to see turned into a film/television show?: only one? ahhh this is hard! But I’d love to see those who from the Pit of Hell, roam to seek their prey on earth be turned into a movie. There are also a couple of wips that I could see on-screen but I’ll stick to that!

23. do you write scenes chronologically or out of order?: chronologically. Haven’t explored anachronies (analepsis/prolepsis) at all, but I might soon!

24. how do you handle criticism?: really well!! As long as they’re constructive and not mean, I love hearing what people think. Criticism is the best way for me, a person whose first person is not English, to improve!

25. what is the advice you would give to someone who is looking to start writing?: DO IT!! Honestly, don’t tell yourself, ‘I’m not good enough’. Just do it. Open a blank document and write your heart away, even if it’s not a story; just begin it. Explore your writing style, then maybe try to mould it into a plot. Writing is not limited to a certain category of people; it’s not just for those who can write. Writing is for everyone, and like most things, one must begin before improving (practice makes perfect!!) <3

26. what kind of feedback on your work always makes your day?: anything!!! Just the fact someone clicked on my story, read it, and took time to leave a comment — just that is enough to make my heart bursts with joy. I am so so grateful to every single person who’s ever read something from me.

27. which fic ‘verse of your own would you most like to exist in? which fic’s characters would you most like to befriend?: The verse I’m talking about is still a wip, but the siren/mermaid one that I’m currently building! I’d love to live in it.

28. what do you always enjoy getting asks about/wish people would ask about more?: Anything, really, my inbox is open to anyone and for everything! I love discussing books, movies and poetry as well as quotes, and maybe I wish people would come forth to ask me more about my fics or my wips, if they have any inquiries! Or I’d love to write drabbles! 

29. what has writing added to your life? how has it changed you?: It has made my life so, so much better. Writing has stitched up a gaping hole in my chest. It’s permitted me to improve in English, has made me more confident and has allowed my creativity to flow. I just... I love writing so much. It has also allowed me to meet some incredible people on tumblr, which I’m very grateful for!!

30. why do you write?: for many reasons; to spice up my life, to help me develop my creativity, and because I love it. I’ve always wanted to be a writer.

This is hard. But I’ll go with one from in a sea of mist cause the way Louis answers Harry... I love it:

“I feel like you want to kill me,” he pants out, using his right arm to hold himself up while his other hand comes up to rub at his burning cheek and nose, where Louis had hit him with the sole of his shoe.

“Before our date? No, never,” Louis blinks sweetly, chuckling and climbing up as Harry smiles to himself.

4a. share the best first and last lines from your work(s): I will do only those that are already published:

best first lines are from the hope that warbles in my fluttering breast: There, against the window, was stuck millions of snowflakes, their see-through quality no more as they huddled together, pushed against hard surfaces by the merciless wind. 

best last lines are from in a sea of mist: It takes a while for Harry to go to sleep, elation pumping through his veins so fast that the previous tiredness he felt has flown out of the window. But when he finally focuses on Louis’ heavened out breathing, and when he breathes in Louis’ natural perfume that always acts as an ambrosia over him, he manages to close his eyes, and for the first time in a while, he dreams of a future that’s devoid of any darkness.

omg mar thank you for enabling me all day today 😭🥺🧡 thenks bestie ily :,)) and thank you too anon ! i should preface that T-T i have not read any other theories or analyses so these are just my opinions / impressions but i hope it’s entertaining to read about haha :p ! (feel free @ anyone to add on or share your thoughts too ! :,))

HYUNJAE - okay so audio cues... if you listen to the beginning there’s a sound of a bomb going off before the music starts ? and that ties into the dystopian / cyborg aesthetics that jump out at me of course, but what i immediately thought of was their no air perfo ? like we know hyunjae in the no air mv got that shot where he’s laying in the bathtub filled with water but also their kingdom performance with it also had those underwater shots ! so i think it ties into that... i feel like we saw in gen z, he’s a very straightforward person he says things on his mind which can come off as blunt but he thinks it’s better than not saying it ? which is interesting bc i think that speaks to his self- determined personality, he’s much more inclined to do whatever it takes to get something done, which i think falls perfectly in line with the “make your own air” phrase that he gets, if it’s something he needs he makes it himself, in a situational sense methinks u.u 

 JUYEON - JUYEON’S DJSKHDG i’m waiting for dri’s essay but in essence we see the gen z “juyeon is not such a good boy” shot and these text bubbles that pop up that say “sexy” “you so hot” “such a bad boy” and tbh i like this ‘concept’ ? for him better than his gen z one ? it’s not bc of the concept itself but i like the idea that he can “make your own character” as in he has the capability and power to be whoever he wants to ! you see him throwing white paint at the gen z canvas and i think ?! that’s symbolic of like a fresh canvas ! of remaking himself to whatever he wants bc the canvas is now blank again thanks to the white paint and flowers usually indicate spring ? so renewal and stuff like that ! i really like his, it’s also fun word play on “character” which has been juyeon’s intro in tbz (bc his name sounds like main character in korean) but yea :o ! i really love his the idea he can just repaint / paint over a literal image of him gives it the possibility of becoming smth new and that’s so so cool

CHANGMIN - SCREEEEECH okie um oh boy um *windows shutting down noises* this was so so so very different from his gen z stuff but i actually think BOTH are equally perfect for him ? the way that he set up the sparklers and neon lights on this very obviously trashy and kind of rundown rooftop with the cityline behind him is so ?!?!? LITERALLY making his own stage as his tagline goes, sort of like how the physical stage itself does not matter but rather it’s changmin himself that makes the stage special ! i talked about this in gabi’s set that i rbed ;-;/ but changmin puts a lot A LOT of stake in his position as a dancer it means almost everything to him as a form of expression from what i can see ? so he’s always trying his best to put forward the best performance possible and seeing this segment makes me feel like he’s doing just that ! pouring himself into it to make his stage pls i care him 

HAKNYEON - god i’m a jusadan but just u.u rest in peace me, i’ll ... T_T be kind of honest this one confuses me a little ? i have assumptions and i feel like i know ... quite a bit about haknyeon (LMAO) my best guess is it has smth to do with self assurance ...? the way he’s framed and the fact that he’s sitting on a bed in the middle of a church surrounded by candles gives me christ figure symbolism (where my ap english takers at :/) and the light that perfectly frames him in a halo gives me angel vibes too, but the tagline of “make your own romance” paired with him kissing his reflection makes me think it’s about self love ;;;; from what i can tell haknyeon has always been someone who really likes feeling validated and praised for the stuff he does well, which he does for himself a lot of the times too ! but sometimes i think the self assurances he compliments himself with is more for reassuring himself rather than bragging (which i think people misinterpret) so it’s more about becoming the person he wants to fully love and being happie with himself which *tears* i might be reading too much into who knows i just love him ok ... U.U 

KEBINNN - i know !!! dri mentioned this in my gifset tags but ! kev on kpop daebak (? was it) or smth mentioned how he strives to keep a childlike wonderment for the world around him, which is a reason why i think he loves drawing and sound / music production, he talked in a fancafe post once about an artist who turned mediocre everyday objects into art and he said he really loves that sense of wonderment so peter pan who “never grows up” is actually perfect for his worldview ahhhh T^T also kev really likes disney lmao, the way he’s doing this outside in this “neverland” garden on a balcony which is a part of this very typical apartment backed by a typical city bg also i believe ties into this turning a mediocre everyday thing into smth wonderful through his sense of childlike wonderment and his tagline of “make your own fantasy” (i also care him a lot this concept >>>>>>) and keeps to his referencing movie plotlines like he did in gen z jddkfj

SUNWOO - i also mentioned this in my tags on sunu’s set but this gives me 100 degrees vibes which i still to this day think is one of the most “sunwoo” vibe things ever, it’s a lot of him having fun and doing his own thing, and mixes both more mature and youthful aspects together in a way that i’d only ever describe as sunwoo vibes LMAO like the roller skating around and all the soap bubbles ! cute and youthful ! the crop top and celine wasitband (don’t laugh at me we all noticed) more mature and a callback to his gen z look methinks U.u, think sunwoo has always been a more go-with-the-flow or do whatever he feels like doing sort of person and so “make your own vibe” fits well with him in that sense to me 

SANGYEON - .... *silence* *more windows shutting down noises* *jess.exe has stopped working* OKAY i feel like ! sangyeon’s is also more self explanatory :p i love the juxtaposition of boxing AND the arcade type fighter games ?? like both require very different sets of skills i feel like one is more physical the other is more mental ? but both require adapting to changes whether in the game or the boxing ring which as leader sangyeon would know a lot about, esp being flexible and quick to respond to different situations, and the “make your own glory” i feel is maybe more on the nose, but tbz are this man’s pride and joy you can see it literally anywhere and for him, as leader, to have made it this far with tbz, winning rtk and building their popularity through their hard work and efforts really is building his own glory and i just HHHHHHHHHH

YES EYYSFDHSHF CHANHEE YES - i said it in the tags of my srb before deleting it so i’ll just repeat it here but CHOI CHANHEE !!!!! this detail i didn’t quite process first watch was the continuous flashing of lights in all his scenes, like ... from the shots and the set it looks REALLY empty ?? but the flashing seems to indicate cameras and photos being taken of him despite there being no people we can really see in any of the shots ? WHICH IS SO COOL i think the implication is like “all eyes on him” type which SO TRU i love that idea, like i said the walking past the wedding dresses ? v heavily implies fashion designer which i think you mentioned mar :o ! and i see it in the sense of his tagline “make your own stereotype” bc white wedding dresses are the very traditional / typical choice and obviously feminine in stereotypes, whereas chanhee is wearing a SUIT which is all black in a very clean b/w set with no color which i feel is very stereotypically MASCULINE and the glasses too, it’s such an interesting contrast of his “stereotypically feminine” features (in my view) with very masculine symbols, like glasses we usually associate with more soft hearted / meek stereotypes ? but the geometric shape of the windows and again his suit seems to indicate the very opposite ? it’s a mixing of stereotypes which i think is the point, by putting those together he quite literally makes his own stereotype and puts on the crown while the cameras continue flashing while pointed at him AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

YOUNGHOON - okie might have less to say about this one :o i feel like both hak’s and younghoon’s i don’t see the connections quite as readily but ! i think it’s interesting that his tagline is “make your own classic” but then in the scenes itself he has a flip phone ??? with an antenna (okay boomer /j JDHFKFG JK PLS) and a teddy bear while in PERIOD stylized clothing and setting where those two things are more modern / contemporary in origin (but also not modern enough bc ,,, it’s a flip phone LOL) like 90s kid vibes ? you know but as an emperor in the joseon era haha :p while eating shrimp chips and reading a (comic ?) book, like idk too much of what it means but it’s a cool dichotomy LOL, think it might also tie into actor ! hoon bc it’s make your own classic and i think acting has become a very important aspect to him :o after seeing what he’s capable of in love revolution and his atbz video so it’s interesting u.u (need help w/ this one)

JACOB - think my explanation in han’s set’s tags didn’t really make sense so lemme ... reexplain LOL,,, so ! similar to his gen z video ? like he’s talked about how difficult it is to open up about his own feelings etc. and he said it’s less bc he realizes he needs to but rather just to make other people feel more comfortable when it comes to understanding him, and like the whole breaking the mirror with his reflection in the wanna be angry jacob, it’s about freeing himself to the point he can express the emotions he wants to ! in gen z it was about being able to be angry when he felt that way instead of being tied by his image of being just nice ? and in the video with his pilot uniform not only does he control the ride but he also rides on it himself ! quite literally making his own freedom (symbolically), a sort of realizing he can free himself ? from what’s been tying him down and i think the really big smile he has while riding it just comes to show how he wants to feel :,))) (jacob bae i care you) 

ERIC - last one :p AHHH this is one of my favs too, the quite literal “make your own pride” I LOVE IT ! sooo i think the biggest takeaway i got was that of course in this video his “pride” is symbolized by the hot pink car (that he’s going to pick up his christmassy date in of course u.u if he has a license which he does n- his driver’s license in this was literally his aaa / boy version of reveal photo which in no dmv anywhere would a license picture be allowed to look that good-) and LITERALLY when he finished and takes it for a joy ride while sitting on the roof he’s STILL covered in the dirt and grime stains ! from working on it ! which i think is so symbolic ! it’s my favorite detail actually, he literally put sweat into this car which is his pride and now that he’s finally riding around in it, it feels accomplishing ! his pride ! love that, also when he’s grabbing a stub from that flyer i noticed he chose “youth” over the others (which was like .... ca$h, beauty, ice cream, hamburger...) which i think also just indicates that despite all this hard work he put in he still cherishes his youth and still lets that be a huge part of who he is (i mean pink car so of course) so idk i think it’s very neat go bestie mwah

i was reading your series (bloom) again and as i finished the first part i read the notes at the very end. i always wondered who howard roark was and when i read where he was from i looked him up. i had a question for you....you mentioned that you loved the way he was created (my guess is in the book)....did you like the film as well, if you have watched it? btw bloom is one of the best series i’ve read

I particularly love this line: "I have no pride left to stop me. I love you without dignity, without regret...You're everything I've always wanted, and that's why I hoped I'd never meet anyone like you." Like YAAAASSSSSS! 😅

I guess you can say I do like it (although I was a bit disappointed that certain parts I like in the book were cut, particularly those more profound parts between him and Dominique Francon) cause after all Ayn Rand was the one who created the screenplay and if you've read about her she doesn't want her stuff tampered with and is very insistent she gets her way or there will be no movie at all. So, if she sees it fit, then who am I to say otherwise?

I believe Gary Cooper portrayed him just fine and I do appreciate and love old movies like that, the style, the acting. It's good, but you are right to assume that I love the character in the book more, not just Howard but everyone else. I guess there are just things in literature form that readers, myself included, understand better than when being given a visual representation of how things happen and how real people portray them. There's something in the book that's a lot richer than what was shown in the movie, so much more layer in terms of setting, imagery and character.

I had an idea of how he is in my head and when I watched the movie, I kinda regretted it 😂

Anyway, Bloom!Sukuna isn't in any way based on him cause there is such a stark difference between their characters (and I don't think I am capable enough to even think of it 😁😢). The resemblance stops with them being both architects and I just portrayed my love for Ayn Rand's character in Y/N. It's something which I added as a layer to her character being a literature major and how she sees Howard as a "breath of fresh air" in relation to the "spring" theme of Bloom and how she sees Sukuna loml. That's how it felt for me anyway.

If you read the book, Howard is actually pretty nasty, not really likable and is mostly an acquired taste (cause methinks he is lowkey the writer hahaha sorry, Ayn Rand, don't haunt me) but he was created so well in that he is consistent and unwavering that it gets frustrating. Plus the way the other characters were made to interact with him is just 😌👌 I'm a sucker for those kinds of characterization and that shone more in the book than it ever did in the movie.

In conclusion, 🤣 yeah, I don't hate the movie version but I love the book version of Howard waaaay more.

I say too much lol but yeah, I appreciate that you like Bloom. I loved every second of writing it, so THANK YOU 💗🥰 I'm happy.
