Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dating MILES was certainly not an.. easy feat. Not only was he constantly busy, but would mysteriously disappear in random times whether at school or just simple hangouts. "I'll be quick." He says, but the next time you see him is in 3 days and he's covered in bandages.
You learned from some schoolmates that before you, there seemed to be a girl named Gwanda that he was particularly hung over about after she left.
Of course, students will be students who crave any sort of drama will try and spark up rumors. You trusted Miles, and you were hoping that your trust wasn't misplaced. He didn't seem like the type of guy to lie to you, the exact opposite infact. The boy seemed to love you more than he loved the world, he just.. it didn't hurt to be cautious.
Miles is a friendly guy. Anyone would feel hurt over a friend leaving, that's it and there's nothing more to it.
You sigh softly as you leave your classroom, Miles already waiting for you because his ended early. "Hi babe." He'll smile, grabbing your hand and intertwining his fingers with yours. "Hi." You reply, your energy far different from his.
There's silence when you two walk, through the halls and out the schools main doors. Unlike Miles, you still lived with your parents unlike him who shared a dorm with Ganke.
"You hear about the stories going around us lately? Jeez, seems like people are more obsessed with our relationship than we are."
"Miles."
His smile disappears when he realizes you're upset or unamused.
"Are you really.. over her?"
You stop in your tracks, staring at Miles who was a few steps ahead of you. His head still turned away from you, but he feels your gaze burning into the back of his head.
He says nothing, so you continue further.
"Alam mo ba, I really tried, Miles."
You remember the sketches of a blonde haired girl in his notebook, features similar to the girl your classmates described.
He still refuses to to look at you.
"I wanted to fight for us, I really really did."
There's something about the way he talks to his parents about her,
"I miss her a lot, I hope she visits soon."
"You'll never believe who she hangs out with now..!-"
"She had the nicest smile I've ever seen."
It felt.. odd.
His head looks down to the floor, as if lost in thought.
"Pero ang hirap kapag di mo naman talaga gusto sakin."
You feel something akin to a stab to your gut when you catch a glimpse of his phone, your eyes widening slightly at the photo of Gwen and him. Of course you wouldn't have minded.. but you two were on a date, a date that happened because it was your first year of being together.
You look back at Miles, forcing a smile as if nothing had happened. As if what was supposed to be a day worth celebrating, wasn't the very same day your heart was shattered into a million pieces.
Miles finally turned to face you, his expression is mixed with sadness and confliction.
"I'm not her, Miles. I can't be her."
You wanted him to say something, anything. Anything to prove that there was a reason to keep trying in this relationship.
But there's silence, his hand slips away and you allow it.
You two stand there, suffocating in the air surrounding you. It felt so hard to even breathe with how hard you were holding in your urge to cry.
This was for the best, right? It was better for the both of you if you just.. left it there and now.
But you were just so scared that you'll regret everything and run back to him in a heartbeat, back to a boy who never truly loved you.
"You're right."
Those words cause more damage than you ever thought they could, he has no idea how two words can absolutely break a person, how hard it is to realize that a one year relationship was a lie after you gave your all for him.
"I see."
What did you expect? For him to tell you that he wasn't still inlove with a person who left him two years ago? That he didn't date you to absolutely distract himself from the fact he missed Gwen? That's absurd, impossible even.
You turn around and begin to walk away, mostly to hide the tears that were threatening to fall down your face.
It's over, right? No more overthinking, or wondering if you're not enough.
You know the truth, that's what you wanted.
But there's a lingering feeling, one that you can't quite shake off.
That there's the tiniest chance that he'll grab your hand, pull you in and tell you that it's all a misunderstanding.
And against your better judgement, you look back.
He's already walking away.

Pausa Indeterminada (Indefinite break)
Ana.
Hi, how are you? Well, I'm not doing so well.
I can't even remember the last time I wrote something I really liked. I thought writing short stories might help, although I've never liked them that much.
I'm here to tell you that I'm going on hiatus, probably for good. The problem isn't a lack of ideas, as I have three new plots every month, maybe even more. I seem to have lost the will to share these ideas with the world, or maybe it's the lack of energy to put them down on paper.
Honestly? I've always been more of a consumer than a content producer. I decided to come here for the few people who have always supported me. And to them, I apologize as sincerely as I can for disappointing them once again. But if I come back here in the distant future, it'll be because I'll have original stories (which people don't seem to be interested in here) or complete stories (which almost never happens to me).
The truth is that for the last two years I've been struggling with the urge to abandon everything, become a hermit and never be seen by anyone ever again. Or, of course, it could be the burnout that has finally burned out any desire to write.
I don't know what's going to happen in the future, and I have no interest in wondering about it. I've been in this fandom for 15 years and I don't regret it. I want to thank you for the time we've spent together and hope that one day I'll be passionate about these stories again. Until then, I wish us all the best.
See you soon. Ana.

ECU High - Tulsa's Badge
Tumblr media
Born with Creek heritage, Tulsa felt the need to live up to the family name. He used to hear his 90 year old grandmother tell him stories about her parents living on the reservation. He felt so moved by her stories that he would do everything he could to make their struggles worth it.
When he learned that his grandfather was a war hero during WWII and grew up with his father in the military, he decided to follow in their footsteps. As soon as he got the chance, Tulsa joined the JROTC.
One day, Tulsa wakes up exactly at 6 am. He immediately dresses in his uniform and goes downstairs for breakfast.
"Mother. Father. Mr. Reno wants me to arrive early today. I'm responsible for setting up the JROTC's recruiting booth. The school's going to have a club fair today so I want to make the final touches. May I be able to drive to school today?"
His parents look at each other and then his father, Rick McLean puts his hands on Tulsa's shoulders.
"I'm going to let you drive with me today, Tulsa. But first, I think you should eat breakfast. You're going to be very busy today, so I want you to have enough energy."
Tulsa smiles.
"Yes sir."
He goes to make his own breakfast when his mother, Dela clears her throat.
"I already made you breakfast son. I know you have a big day, so I made you a high protein meal."
He nods and then sits down.
"Thank you. I appreciate what you do, mother."
He dutifully eats his breakfast and prepares everything to get ready.
"Mother, I hope you have a wonderful day today. I hope to be home by 4 pm. If there's any delay, I'll make sure to contact you ahead of time."
She smiles and kisses Tulsa on the cheek. He confidently walks out to the car and spends almost 10 minutes making sure everything is in order. Mr. McLean feels the need to interject.
"Son, I'm sure everything is exactly as you left it the last time. I know it's important to check your mirrors, but it's also important to do these checks quickly."
Tulsa looks up.
"I understand you loud and clear, father. I'll follow everything you tell me."
His father checks his watch.
"Just follow the speed limits and make quick decisions when looking around you. Driving is something that requires rational yet timely decision making. Taking too long can also cause accidents."
Tulsa nods.
"Yes sir. That's good advice and I'll be sure to follow it."
Tulsa backs out of the driveway and goes exactly 25 mph until he reaches the main road where he speeds up to exactly 35 mph. Numerous cars honk and pass him, but Tulsa adamantly sticks to the speed limit.
"Ok Tulsa, just try to find a parking space and shut off the engine."
Tulsa nods as they enter the school's parking lot.
"I found the perfect spot. Now all I need to do is make sure I'm perfectly parked in between the lines."
He spends about 5 minutes going back and forth trying to park.
"Tulsa I know you want to park in between the lines properly, but I'm going to be late for work. I also don't want you being late for Mr. Reno. Can you please put the car in park?"
He parks the car for the final time.
"I understand father. I'm sorry to have wasted your time."
He grabs his backpack and departs inside the school. Rick gets into the driver's seat shaking his head.
"I need to tell Dela about this. That boy's going to give himself an ulcer if he keeps stressing over small details."
Tulsa makes his way to Mr. Reno (Clint's brother Vance's) office and salutes.
"Tulsa McLean at your service Mr. Reno, sir!"
Vance looks up from his paper work.
"At ease Tulsa, at ease. I know this is your first year as a recruiter. All you need to do is organize the forms and flags that will be at our table. I will do all of the talking while you sit next to me."
He pulls out a badge from his desk.
"This is your recruiting badge. As the senior member of the JROTC, I trust you to uphold our organization's values and to guide the freshmen to the best of your abilities."
Tulsa's eyes light up. He tightens his hall monitor's sash even more.
"Oh yes sir!"
He quickly gets everything ready as all of the students enter the boy's gym. He sits down next to Vance.
"I hope we get new members today, sir."
Vance looks through the crowd.
"I have my eye on one possible recruit in particular."
"You do sir?"
Vance looks at Tulsa.
"Yes, I have a younger brother who's a freshman. His name is Clinton. I know that he's very proud of my service and might want to be like me one day. Now I won't push this on him, but I certainly won't stop him from joining."
"Oh I hope he signs up sir. I would absolutely love to work with your brother. I think he would be a great member."
Vance sighs as he sees students walking by without even a glance. Some students stop to ask questions but after 2 hours, no one said they will sign up.
"Look sir, there's your brother now."
Vance looks up and sees Clint walking up to their booth with Pacer.
"How ya doin Vance? Ah jus had ta come over wit Pacer ta see ya."
Tulsa is a little shocked that Clint's so informal. He hold his tongue since Vance would know how to handle this.
"Ahem. Clint. Would you and your friend like to hear about the JROTC?"
Pacer looks like he'd rather be anywhere else.
"Ah'll see ya at the gardening club booth, Clint."
Clint watches him walk away then turns back to Vance.
"Sure Vance, Ah'll take a packet. Ah'm sorry if Pacer seemed all rude an all. Government and military types scare 'em."
Tulsa is absolutely shocked. The government and military are supposed to protect people. Pacer has darker skin sure, but unless he's a trouble maker, why would authority figures scare him so much? He shakes himself out of his thoughts and holds out the clipboard.
"Would you like to sign up for the JROTC, Clinton?"
Clint looks at Tulsa and then at Vance.
"Uh, no thanks. Ah don't wanna turn ya down, but Ah wanna see what other clubs there are. Ah gotta think bout it."
Clint walks away and Tulsa sits down. He looks a little disappointed.
"I don't understand it sir. I thought being a part of the JROTC is a source of pride. Doesn't everyone want to show their faith in their country?"
Vance looks at Tulsa and sighs.
"It isn't that, Tulsa. I think it's because a lot of students just want to focus on having fun. The JROTC is a serious organization that requires a lot of time and dedication. It's definitely not for everyone."
Tulsa looks at the clipboard.
"No one signed up. We had so many people say they might join, but no one ever said yes. I just don't understand it."
Suddenly a freshman boy wearing a Boy Scouts event shirt walks up to the booth.
"Excuse me, can you tell me more about the JROTC?"
Tulsa looks up and watches Vance explain what the organization values and what would be required of members.
"What's your name?"
The boy straightens up.
"My name's Josh Morgan sir."
Tulsa looks at his clipboard.
"Would you like to be a member of the JROTC, Josh?"
Josh looks at the packet again. Tulsa closes his eyes for a second, thinking he'll be disappointed again. He hears the pen scratching and opens his eyes to see Josh sign his name.
"I would love to join, sir."
Vance stands up.
"Welcome to the JROTC, Josh Morgan. We will have our first meeting in my office in exactly one week from today. I hope to see you there so you can become an official member."
Josh shakes Vance's hand and then looks at Tulsa's badge.
"Wow. You must be the oldest member of the JROTC. I hope I could get a badge like that one day."
Josh puts his hand out. Tulsa smiles softly while standing up to shake it.
"I'm glad that you want to join us. I hope that you will become a fine member of society one day."
Josh smiles an un-ironically salutes Tulsa.
"Yes sir."
He then walks to another booth.
Tulsa sits down smiling.
"Sir, I'm really proud of my badge. I always wanted to be a source of inspiration to others and help those in need. Josh signing up today is exactly what makes this all worth the hard work."
Vance smiles.
"I'm glad you feel that way, Tulsa."

Monday, January 1st, 2024!
10:29am We are alive mf's!!! We made it to the new year!
Currently having my semi-annual financial hoopla but things will work themselves out 😇
January goals: not spending money basically.
- don't get so drunk, it is not fun anymore!
- stop buying food/ drinks out! Too much $
- look for free activities
- free hobbies
- be mindful of what you're doing! And not doing!
- wake up earlier and go to bed earlier! (Gradual)
1:01pm I have already caved and have gotten PDQ 🤣 it's all good I'm straight chilling ❤️ Stay positive y'all. Watching A Historia Delas on Hulu, looks pretty good!
3:45pm Ok so PDQ has made me completely lethargic, the salt has made me totally bloated AF like I feel it in my belly and my feet and hands. I want to work on increasing my energy levels this year and omg this was not the right thing to do. I'm so bloated I'm too uncomfortable to nap even. This show is very good though thank god bc I'm clearly not doing much else today.
Also, one of my wall adjacent neighbors has been playing freaking dubstep or something for like 2 hrs straight and I just realized it's making my brain feel weird/ fuzzy but I couldn't identify why tf I felt that way before. There's so much damn noise in the world it's no wonder everyone is losing their mind/ irritable and slightly annoyed all the time.
8:04pm I did my nails! Also binge watching this show was a very good decision, the best I've made all day 🤣 Tried eating some cheese and it's too much!! My body is just rejecting all of this rich af holiday food and I should really clean out the fridge tomorrow and start fresh. I know it's a waste but idc I don't want to keep feeling like crap and I hate expired food. It's not my fault I went on vacation for like 10 days and all this was too much. I'm still not used to buying/ cooking food for one person. I need to stop buying gallons of milk ffs! It's way too much I had to have like 4 cups last night bc it was expiring today. This is just all part of being mindful, everything is a learning process! You are ok and you are doing great! ❤️
Also, learning more and more about how abusive my relationship is and I'm so glad the internet exists because it would have been so easy to just *not* be aware of this experience that i unfortunately share with many people!! Narcissistic abuse is real and I am ready to keep healing!! Can't fool me twice.
I loved talking to his grandmother though, she is so wise and sweet and I love that she really doesn't play his BS and can see through it, amen!!! I can't believe she said what I thought she would say.... She wants them to move out together so that they'll break up already!!!! That shit is crazy she really said that!!! I may be young but I am not stupid and I saw that shit coming from MILES away literally.
9:41pm He keeps randomly texting me and tbh at this point it's so crystal clear what he's doing and it's pathetic. Simply I have no admiration for him, no respect above human decency really, it's just pathetic is the only word for it. He clearly needs psychological help, and I'm not a psychologist! Also, don't you have a gf to text who literally hates me? Get it together, bro, you're not fooling anyone (except her?? Poor girl tbh she's really getting her payback/ karma in spades I'm sure) thanks universe :) love ya.
PS why does he keep bringing up the music thing?? Does he have no other lines I don't really get it. What tf am I supposed to do about that anyway. I listen to all of his music and my music just fine (oh wait it's because I took time to heal and didn't jump into another toxic relationship 7 days later!!) Get a grip, dude, you're not getting anyone's sympathy here.
Made a to do list for tomorrow so we'll see how that goes! Also I'm sleeping naked so we're trying lots of new things!

Magnolia closer to finals return, overcomes Rain or Shine in Game 5
Mark Barroca in action. PBA IMAGES MANILA, Philippines–Following back-to-back losses in the PBA Philippine Cup, coach Chito Victolero has yearned for nothing more than rest for Magnolia. He got that during the Lenten break and the Hotshots were never the same again. Victolero and his wards typified that and more in Magnolia’s gritty 82-74 victory over Rain or Shine on Tuesday night at Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay, stringing up three straight wins and breaking their tie in their race-to-four series in one fell swoop. “We just tried to be consistent. We tried to focus more on defense and limit their score under 90. Defensively I’m proud of what we’ve done,” Victolero told reporters. “That’s where we draw our strength—energy,” he added. “Fresh legs are very important to my system. I badly wanted to have my players rest since we’e been tired physically and mentally.” Mark Barroca and Jio Jalalon made up for Paul Lee’s unproductive night, scoring 14 each, while Rafi Reavis and Ian Sangalang tossed in nine and eight points, respectively, to help the Hotshots inch closer to a second-straight all-Filipino Finals appearance. The Elasto Painters leaned on its skipper and their quiet contributor in this series Gabe Norwood to keep their foes within striking range. But they had no answers for Magnolia, which aside from clamping them down to just 30% from the field, also managed to draw 54 points from its reinforcements. “We’re number one in points allowed in defense [in the past]. As long as our defense is in good shape, we do well,” Victolero said. Magnolia will try to close out the second-best team of the elimination round when they meet again on Friday at Ynares Center, where they enjoy an undefeated streak of sorts. “That’s great news,” Victolero said of playing in Antipolo. “We just need to find ways again when we play them again.” The scores: MAGNOLIA 82 – Barroca 14, Jalalon 14, Reavis 9, Brondial 9, Sangalang 8, Herndon 8, Dela Rosa 7, Ramos 7, Melton 6, Lee 0. RAIN OR SHINE 74 – Norwood 15, Yap 12, Borboran 11, Daquioag 9, Torres 8, Nambatac 6, Belga 5, Rosales 3, Mocon 3, Ahanmisi 2, Ponferada 0. Quarters: 16-10, 40-34, 58-57, 82-74. Climate Change Commission Philippines: Leading Resilience
Tumblr media
  A Call for Personal Accountability
The Climate Change Commission (CCC) issued a compelling call to Filipinos on Friday, urging them to actively participate in the government's mission to create a climate-resilient Philippines through responsible daily living. In a media forum held at the Cabel Restaurant in Manila, CCC Vice Chairperson and Executive Director, Robert E.A. Borje, underscored that while climate change necessitates a global response, the solutions must begin at the community and individual levels.   Embracing Sustainability Borje stated, "Itakwil natin ang ginagawa (Let us renounce the) culture of waste and irresponsibility, pagiging waldas, walang pakialam sa ating (squandering, unmindful of our) waste and responsibility."   He called for the adoption of mindful practices, including water and energy conservation and responsible living. He added, "Maging matipid tayo sa tubig, sa enerhiya, maging ayos tayo sa ating pamumuhay, maging responsable tayo (Let us conserve water, energy. Let us lead a good life, and be responsible)."
Youth and Inter-Faith Engagement
Recognizing the interconnected nature of climate change issues across different sectors, Borje stressed the importance of educating the youth, the leaders of the next generation, to understand climate change and take responsible actions. He also highlighted the crucial role of inter-faith organizations in addressing climate change, particularly during disasters and calamities, where faith-based groups often provide critical assistance.
Commitment to Climate Resilience
Notably, CCC Commissioner Albert dela Cruz pointed out that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has committed the Philippines to becoming climate change-resilient and a responsible international community member, fulfilling its obligations. Dela Cruz emphasized the need for a comprehensive societal approach, invoking the Filipino spirit of 'bayanihan' or cooperation in the face of climate change. He encouraged natural-based solutions and straightforward practices, saying, "Kung mainit, buksan ang mga bintana, patayin na ang aircon (If it's hot, open the windows, turn off the air conditioner)." He further clarified, "We are discussing all these in layman's terms so all of us will understand that all we're doing will make us 'bayani' (heroes). We do all of these, we'll have harvest, ani."
Climate Consciousness Week
In addition to raising public awareness, the Climate Consciousness Week, to be observed from November 19 to 25, aims to educate people about policies and best practices that empower local government units to become disaster-resilient and eco-friendly. Furthermore, the week seeks to explore avenues for private sector investment in policies that will render the country resilient in the face of climate change.   Sources: THX News & Philippine News Agency. After school, we often indulge in our shared interests and hobbies. One of our favorite activities is exploring the nearby park, where we can escape the pressures of school and simply be ourselves. We walk hand in hand, talking about everything and anything, enjoying the simple pleasure of each other's company. These moments help us grow closer, discovering new facets of our personalities and building a stronger connection.

Throughout my college year, I wasn't at my best not until I got to fit in to a perfect group that would have the same energy I have in things. They made me feel belong and they'd care for me like a family. Fitting in before wasn't my forte, I tend to walk out of the room and go home immediately, but not that I met these people.
During my breaks, I often gather with my group of friends. We enjoy chatting, sharing laughs, and exploring the campus. We often organize study sessions together, helping each other prepare for exams and assignments. I value these friendships as they provide support and companionship.
We have fun even we are at our stress peak, we still find time to have fun and not be stressful because it'll happen once only. I have no words to express but they definitely took the best out of me. During my  breaks, I often gather with my group of friends. We enjoy chatting, sharing laughs, and exploring the campus. We often organize study sessions together, helping each other prepare for exams and assignments. I value these friendships as they provide support and companionship.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day, the people I go to are my Family. They have shaped me to who I am today, it has been tough after loosing my mom to cancer, but it gave me courage and made me independent and made me stronger than I am before. After everything, they are the people who I go home to. I love my family to the fullest, because I was with them from the start until now.
Thank you.

I’ve waited my ENTIRE life for this moment, being able to share the brilliance of this @wearedelasoul song and Dave 🔌2️⃣🕊️and @plugwondelasoul 🔌1️⃣🔊 flawless verses! Plus the energy and vibes that @inmaseowetrust @djprincepaul brought on production and the horns by Maceo Parker, Pee Wee Ellis & Fred Wesley And the members of the native tongues lending their voices and vibes to it as well. I remember where I was when I first heard this song I walked into Stussy/Union store on LA Brea to visit the homies and this song was playing… (Study/Union store ALWAYS got advance copies of all the dope music.) I stopped in my tracks and it was the beginning of Dave’s verse and the Pos followed with his. I was in AWE! I made them rewind it and play it for me 3 more times. It was high ART by the only group that was capable of doing it (in my eyes in 1993) It to me is De La’s best song and I will die on this hill! Salute to the big bros and the whole De La Family! The masses FINALLY get to hear what a Supa MC really is. They’re the Co-fathers to so many styles in hip hop AND in music as a whole. They helped shape myself and my entire friend circle. I’m Not Jealous! (Spencer Reid x Reader)
Tumblr media
Description: {Request] Could you possibly do one of Reid getting jealous? Thank you!!
This case was a long one, taking everyone’s brains and energy it was completely draining. You and Spencer had spent the previous night working later than everyone else finally figuring out a geographical barrier that finally made sense, with the new information you hoped he unsub was right under your nose.
You sat in the main office of a police department in Florida talking to one of the officers who had a question about the case from the profile you had given out a few hours earlier, ‘’The geographical barrier shows that he hits within 15 mile radius of one specific area, we found that there are around 100 bars in that barrier which doesn’t give us a precise idea of where he’s going next, but we can cross off some of the places he’s already been and make a smaller geographical barrier off that maybe today,’’ You explain to him taking a sip of your coffee.
‘’Ah, I see.’’ The young officer says. You glance around seeing in the small office where you had set up that the rest of the team was inside, scared you were missing out on something of importance you quickly push yourself away from the officer’s desk trying to make your way back, ‘’So do you ever get a night off?’’ He asks you before you could scurry away. ‘’I mean you can’t spend all day here, right?’’ He says beaming a smile at you.
You politely throw a smile on your face not wanting to hurt his feelings, ‘’I’m pretty busy, don’t have much time when a serial killer is on the loose for a night off.’’ You say laughing uncomfortably.
‘‘Well I have some of my best officers out there looking for this guys, they take some of the heat off of you and do me a favor.’‘ He explains an amused smile on his face.
‘’What favor would that be?’’ You ask.
‘‘They take a shift, so I can take you out.’‘ He says and you let out a snort of a laugh.
‘‘Excuse me?’‘ You ask him. You glance back up to the room where everyone was noticing they were now staring at you confused by the situation, ‘‘Uh, I have to go.’‘ You quickly say throwing your cup in the trash and speed walking to the small room.
‘‘What was that about?’‘ Reid ask when you walk in.
‘‘Nothing, let’s just get back to the case.’‘ You say blowing it off. ‘‘Please,’‘ You insist.
‘’Y/N’s right, let’s get back to it.’’ Hotch orders. You glance up at him silently thanking him and he raises an eyebrow at you suspiciously. ‘’Reid, Y/N good work last night on the geographical profile, let’s try to narrow it down even smaller if we can. The police had statements from people from the last murder site let’s go over those and see if we can find anything.’’ He says sliding everyone a stack of papers.
Later that night you and Spencer again were the only one’s working, ‘’I can’t find anything,’’ You groan. ‘’Not a single thing connecting anyone, why is this impossible?’’ You ask Reid who was sitting across from you.
‘’We’ll find something eventually, we just have to look harder.’’ He explains.
You sigh tapping your pencil against the desk repeatedly and after a few seconds you notice him look up at you just quick enough to catch it then glance away, ‘’Sorry does that annoy you?’’ You ask him, ‘’Nervous habit’’ You explain.
Spencer laughs at your statement, ‘’I don’t think thats your nervous habit,’’ He says with a small laugh. You look at him as if you were questioning what he was saying, ‘’You fidget a lot that’s what you do when you need to move around, you’re nervous habit is sipping on coffee and hiding your hands with your shirt,’’ He gestures to your sleeves now which were rolled up to your elbow. ‘’You did the nervous one earlier after you came back in the room from talking with the cop,’’ He points out and you look at him amused dropping your pencil on the table laughing.
‘’Wow, stalker much?’’ You say laughing making him laugh. ‘’I’m kidding.’’ You say, ‘’Interesting though, you have a nervous habit yourself Dr. Reid.’’ You say smugly leaning back in your chair crossing your arms over your chest. ‘’You spit out random facts and sometimes even point out obvious ones and you sometimes avoid eye contact,’’ You say narrowing your eyes at him which he stares directly into yours making you both hold back a laugh.
‘‘Nervous habits are shown to help us reduce anxiety, we find comfort in doing them which makes some of the anxiousness go away,’’ He explains, you just stare at him in response.
‘‘Okay Spenc,’‘ You say laughing, you glance up at him realizing that you had never called him that before and now you felt insecure doing it. You had only joined the team a few months ago and automatically hit it off with everyone, Spencer seemed to be the one you talked to the least and you couldn’t help but wonder if it was him avoiding you or that you got nervous talking to him because you had a crush on him.
You glance up and give him a nervous smile but he doesn’t say anything just glances back down at the papers and continued reading some of the statements, you glance back up every once in a while but he still seemed too busy to look up. ‘’I’m gonna turn in for the night,’’ You announce to him a little while later, ‘’Goodnight Reid,’’ You say this time correcting yourself.
‘‘Night, Y/N,’‘ He says sounding a little bittersweet.
_____
The next day you were determined to start fresh, you were more than ready to nail this unsub who had been killing woman in bars all over town. Walking past the officers desk from the other day he stops you once again, ‘’Miss Y/L/N?’’ You heard his voice, turning around you stand at the edge of his desk. ‘’I’m sorry about the other day, I realize now it was really unprofessional of me to act the way I did.’’ He says and you give him a sympathetic smile.
‘‘Well I’m sorry as well I didn’t mean to come off so cold,’‘ You explain to him.
‘‘If I had realized you had a boyfriend I would’ve never-’‘ He begins to explain.
‘‘Boyfriend? I don’t have a boyfriend.’‘ You quickly correct him.
‘‘Really?’‘ He asks sounding surprised. ‘‘I mean I just assumed you and the other young man seemed like you were- I mean he’s been glaring at me for the past hour,’‘ He says laughing nervously looking past you across the room at Spencer talking with someone. ‘‘He watches you like you’re the only person in the room,’‘ He says rubbing the back of his neck with this hand, ‘‘Anyway I’m sorry it was unprofessional to ask.’‘ He says.
‘‘Not a problem Officer, I appreciate the apology, really.’‘ You tell him sincerely.
‘‘Again none of my business but you’re friend over there he seems a little jealous for you to not be dating,’‘ He says sheepishly.
‘’I don’t think he’s jealous-’’ You pause as soon as the words leave your mouth. ‘’Oh my god!’’ You yell out in front of the office. ‘’Jealous!’’ You yell out and the officer looks at you confused. You run over to the rest of the team and Spencer almost looked nervous, ‘’The unsub is trying to make someone jealous!’’ You point out and you see Spencer’s shoulders drop almost out of relief. ‘’Dela Freeman was at two of our last bars and in her statement she said she had just got out of a bad relationship- I can’t believe I just remembered that! What if our unsub is her ex and he’s trying to make her jealous going to the bars and picking up these woman and when she doesn’t come back to them he kills them?’’ You explain.
‘‘That would explain the overkill,’’ Emily points out, ‘‘He’s mad because the one he desires attention from isn’t giving it to him so he uses what he has the girls he’s trying to make her jealous with.’‘ She elaborates.
Spencer coughs clearing his throat, ‘’That would also explain why the Bars are so local if she goes to school around here those are popular places among the college campus.’’ Reid points out.
‘‘Let’s get Garcia on the phone and see what we can find,’‘ Hotch says, ‘‘Nice work Y/N,’‘ He says before taking off. You try to hide the satisfaction on your face as he praises you, it always felt good when your boss told you good job but there was still so much more work to do, first you had to find a name.
______
Three hours later you sat in the back of an ambulance with the latest almost victim, you had made it just in time to save her although emotionally she was having a rough time she didn’t sustain any injuries which she was thankful for. Dela Freeman’s Ex was the unsub, she broke up with him after he constantly accused her of cheating and not paying him enough attention which fueled his accusations against her and it caused him to kill woman to try and get her attention back.
‘‘You’re going to be alright okay? They’re going to take you to the hospital and check you out. We called your parents and they’re on the way to meet you.’‘ You say squeezing her hand.
‘‘Thank you,’‘ She cries out to you, ‘‘Thank you so much.’‘
You give her a gracious smile before stepping out the back of the ambulance closing the door. ‘’Good one today,’’ You hear Morgan’s voice from behind you. ‘’How’d you figure it out?’’ He asks curiously.
‘‘The cop-he kept asking me out and then thought Spencer was jealous and it just clicked, believe it or not.’‘ You say laughing.
Morgan raises an eyebrow at you, ‘’So pretty boy was right,’’ He says amused.
‘‘About what?’‘
‘‘He thought the cop was hitting on you, said you seemed nervous.’‘ He says laughing.
‘‘He can’t tell when I am nervous, he barely knows me.’‘ You point out.
‘‘The kid knows more about you than you think,’‘ He says mysteriously but with a hint of something in his voice, ‘‘Between you and me,’‘ He whispers, ‘‘Boy wonder over there seemed more nervous than you when he saw the guy talking with you,’‘ He says winking at you.
You look at him a little stunned, Spencer nervous that you were talking to a guy? That was new.
Hours later you were back at the station taking everything off the boards and putting it into a filing box for records. ‘’Hey,’’ You heard Spencer’s comforting voice come into the room.
‘‘Oh, hey!’‘ You reply back turning back to your bulletin board taking another tack off. ‘‘I’m happy we finally got that break, we needed it.’‘ You point out to him referring to last night.
‘‘All thanks to you,’‘ He points out shuffling some papers in his hands so they align against the round table. ‘‘What clicked?’‘ He asks, ‘‘Even with Dela Freeman’s statement she never mentioned a breakup in them just what she saw?’‘ He asks.
‘‘Her friends mentioned they were out to help their friend get over an ex, in their words to get over someone you have to get under someone else,’‘ You say looking back at him a smile at the stupidity of that saying. He laughs along with you continuing to shuffle the papers on the desk.
‘‘Where’s everyone else?’‘ You ask.
‘‘I’m not sure actually, I was hoping you’d know.’‘ He says.
‘‘Hey,’‘ You hear another voice and look to the door where the young officer who had hit on you was standing, ‘‘Wanted to thank you for all your help, we uh- really appreciate it.’‘ He says giving you a smile, he glances over at Spencer awkwardly still showing him a smile of appreciation as well. ‘’My offer still stands though,’’ He points out winking at you.
You hold up the papers stacked in your hands, ‘’Paperwork’s calling,’’ You say laughing.
‘‘Not even a day off?’‘ He asks and you nod your head with a laugh. He pats the door frame where his hand was rested, ‘‘It was nice meeting you all.’‘ He says looking from you to Spencer back to you. ‘‘Have a safe flight back,’‘ He says before disappearing out the doorway.
‘‘Nice guy,’‘ You hear Spencer mutter under his breath.
‘‘Huh?’‘ You ask. When you turn around Spencer shakes his head dismissing what you had heard him utter under his breath. ‘‘He said something about you earlier you know,’‘ You point out causing him to look up. ‘‘Said you seemed jealous? It’s what helped me figure out what the unsubs motive was.’‘ You point out going back to the bulletin board letting out a laugh.
He stays silent for a few minutes and the silence encases the room, ‘’I was,’’ He says a few minutes later breaking the silence, ‘’I was jealous I mean.’’ He says causing you to stop filing looking up at him, he was staring at you back a little more wide eyed than usual.
‘’You were?’’ You say a little to happily, ‘’I mean you were?’’ You cough trying to adjust your voice.
‘’I was, I’m not sure why.’’ He says furrowing his eyebrows as if he was confused by the emotion itself.
‘‘I think I know why.’‘ You say smiling softly biting your lower lip to keep yourself from breaking out into a full on grin. He glances up gesturing for you to finish what you were saying, ‘‘You Dr. Reid have a crush on me.’‘ You say trying to sound as confident as possible.
‘‘I-uh,’‘ He immediately stutters, ‘‘That would be unprofessional-’‘ He points out.
‘‘Ah, ah, ah, there you go with the stuttering and the pointing out the obvious. You’re nervous habit, are you nervous right now?’‘ You ask teasing him.
‘‘What? No?’‘ He says his voice sounding a little higher pitched than usual a tell that he was lying.
‘‘You’re lying!’‘ You point at him a finger straight at his face, ‘‘I make you nervous!’‘ You say aloud.
‘‘That’s not true!’‘ He says lying even more.
‘‘It’s okay if I do,’‘ You say laughing, ‘‘You make me nervous too.’‘ You tell him, ‘‘In a good way.’‘
‘‘I do?’‘ He immediately fires back.
‘‘You do,’‘ You admit to him. ‘‘You’re always the smartest person in the room easily, you pick up on my nervous habits which makes me nervous because obviously you’ve taken the time to notice them. You work harder than anyone on this team and you just have this overwhelming sense of empathy for people, even the bad ones.’‘ You tell him, ‘‘I’m nervous to be around a person as good as you.’‘ You tell him smiling at him and he stares up at you wide eyed. ‘’Sorry,’’ You say laughing shaking your head.
‘‘Any room you go into you seem to have this quality about you that just lifts the mood, when you get praised by anyone you do a tiny victory in you’re head which is really cute.’‘ He pauses looking up at you. ‘‘With this job we constantly see horrible things but working with you and being around you makes it a little more bearable, even on the most terrible of days.’’ He says to you.
You hold back your words for a second, unsure of how to reply to what he just said but when you do you realize your words were going to change the friendship for the better, ‘’I said no to the officer because I’ve been waiting for you to ask me out.’’ You tell him. He smiles to himself then looks back up at you still sitting in the chair across the room,  ‘’What?’’ You say looking at him, ‘’Do I have something on my face?’’ You ask him reaching up making him laugh more.
‘‘No, no, I just-,’‘ He pauses trying to gather his words, ‘‘Would you want to come over for dinner at my house? When we get back to Virginia at least.’‘ He asks.
You grin like an idiot not bothering to hide the smile on your face, ‘’I would love to Dr. Reid.’’ You say happily.
‘’I told you!’’ You hear Morgan yell, ‘’I told you he had it in him!’’ Morgan yells stepping into the room JJ following behind shaking her head laughing, ‘’My man!’’ He says and Spencer and you both shake your head in disbelief. ‘’Penelope owes me five bucks,’’ He says whipping out his cell phone ready to call her.
You laugh glancing up at Spencer who had a smile on his face staring back at you.
You couldn’t wait to get home.

Beefsteak
Bistek Tagalog is a traditional meat dish originating from the Philippines. It consists of thinly sliced beef that's marinated and braised in a combination of citrus juice (usually from lemon, lime, or calamansi fruit), onions, garlic, soy sauce, and pepper.
It is believed that the dish was derived after the Spanish bistec encebollado. When properly prepared, the flavors should be savory, salty, and tangy. It's important to use only the freshest beef and the most tender cuts such as top round and sirloin.
The dish is traditionally garnished with pan-fried onion rings on top and served with steamed rice on the side.

Chicken Curry
The Filipino chicken curry recipe definitely had originated from the famous Indian curry dish which can be seen from the spices used but the taste had evolved to specifically cater for the Filipino palate which means it’s not as strong as the original curry and the sauce is a bit thinner. It might have been brought by the Indian soldiers known as Sepoy’s who settled down in Philippines during the British Occupation of the Philippines during (1762-1764).

Ingredients
3 tbsp oil
1 kilogram chicken cut into bite-sized pieces
3 cloves garlic, minced

Health Benefits of Spaghetti
Pasta is the perfect foundation for a healthy, nutritious and satisfying meal. Why? For starters, pasta is the ideal partner for so many other foods, including fibre rich vegetables and beans, heart healthy fish, antioxidant rich tomato sauce and protein packed cheeses, poultry and lean meats.
Pasta also offers:
Sustained Energy: Carbohydrates like pasta provide glucose, the crucial fuel for your brain and muscles. And because pasta is an awesome source of complex carbohydrates (unlike those of the refined and processed variety – yuk), releasing energy at a slow and sustained level, you don’t get the energy spikes associated with simple sugars.
Low Sodium and Cholesterol free: If you’re watching your cholesterol levels, pasta is perfect for you, being very low in sodium and cholesterol free. Per cup, enriched varieties of pasta provide a good sources of several essential nutrients, including iron and B-vitamins.
Olic Acid: Enriched pasta is fortified with folic-acid – essential for women of child-bearing age. A serving of dry pasta supplies the equivalent of roughly 100 micrograms of folic acid, or 25% of the recommended daily intake.
Balanced Diet: Pasta is part of a well-balanced diet, with current Australian Government guidelines suggesting 35% of our daily calories intake should come from complex carbohydrates such as pasta. Combine pasta with lean protein and vegetables for a complete meal that puts you well on the path to hitting those dietary goals!

Chopsuey
Chop suey (/ˈtʃɒpˈsuːi/) is a dish in American Chinese cuisine and other forms of overseas Chinese cuisine, consisting of meat (usually chicken, pork, beef, shrimp or fish) and eggs, cooked quickly with vegetables such as bean sprouts, cabbage, and celery and bound in a starch-thickened sauce. It is typically served with rice but can become the Chinese-American form of chow mein with the substitution of stir-fried noodles for rice.

hiiiiieeee asking a couple of my mutuals who watch wwdits who do you think is each characters fav queens?? :-) I’m v curious hehe I just finished s3 and I’m officially obsessed <33 smooch
Ahahahahaah welcome into the fold of insanity that is the venerable What We Do In the Shadows!!!! Im ecstatic that more people are finally getting in on one of my fave shows.
Okay so, honestly this is a very hard question. I don’t know if any of them would have like one particular favourite queen?? I don’t know I thought about it and tried my best lmao
Colin obviously would only watch the Snatch Game and stand up/roast episodes, yet somehow has an encyclopedic knowledge of the entire franchise.
Nadja goes for the most capable ones. She’s like here for like Shea? Manila? Alaska? The obvious powerhouses. She likes to watch them crush the competition. She also LOVES Roxxxy, but like from Roxxxy in season five? She admires the psychological torture she pulled on Jinkx. Very #Girlboss
So Nandor would probably go for the comedy queens, I’m thinking? Because Nandor thinks he has Comedy Queen energy (bless him--he does not because he cannot think quick enough on his feet) But also Nandor’s actual favourite queen is Jackie Cox. Like, obviously, because #IranianRep
Guillermo watches Drag Race as stress relief. He’s not here for the fighting and the drama—that’s his daily shit. He’s way more here for the queens that keep their nose to the grindstone and succeed while trying to avoid the drama, like the Delas or the Alyssas or the Jaidas or the Nina Wests. He also has to explain like all the references to the vampires because they don’t understand the puns.
Laszlo, though? Oh bitch. Okay so Laszlo watches Drag Race and every queen he sees is just “Now she is a beauty—she reminds me of this nice ladyboy I slept with back in 1978….” To which Guillermo, long suffering, is like “Laszlo we talked about this, you can’t use that term anymore…” and then Laszlo starts like talking louder over him like “Now, you see here, if those ladyboys called themselves ladyboys then that’s what they wanted to be referred to as—“ and it just turns into a yelling argument? And now Nadja is involved because Laszlo swore he didn’t sleep with Patrice but now it’s come out that he did, and throughout all of that Nandor is like “Guillermo! Why did you have to say anything? Now we cannot even hear the judge’s critiques!”

Please Don't go Walking Out That Door
(title) After a heavy depressive episode with writing I have returned! \o/ (fuck u helen). Are we gonna mention my word count? Absolutely not.
Maeve x Lucas. Late nights, bloody days. 4.1k (don’t fuckin look at me)
TW (most of these are squicks): injuries, blood, scars, non sexual upper body nudity (briefly)
@dela-png
The night stretched on and she felt woozy.
Sometimes she wondered why she didn’t get help and why she was running this shitshow by herself. At least with extra hands she wouldn’t have to deal with her regulars alone.
The bell rang into the silence, she pressed a hand to her forehead.
Oh great.
“T-Thumbelina?”
Her head snapped up at the voice.
It was Lucas.
And he was carrying an injured woman.
Maeve could just barely see the knife sticking out of her back, and the blood leaking down. The woman was slurring her words, squeezing her eyes shut.
Maeve rubbed her temples, walking over to the two of them. Her heels clicked on the worn hardwood with her steps. She shut the clinic’s door behind them, closing the blinds around the windows.
“Good Goddess above, do you get everyone into trouble?” she muttered, taking the injured side arm of the woman. They shifted her to one of the nearest tables. She was complaining the entire time, shaking her arm to get it out of Maeve’s grip.
“Well...no. This one was all her fault.”
“And I can fucking take care of it myself,” she said as Maeve and Lucas shifted her up onto the table. Well those words sounded vaguely familiar.
“Her fault hm? Let me guess, picked a fight and didn’t realize they were sleazy?”
“...you got it.”
She chuckled, pulling her hair up. “Oh I’ve been there.” She yanked the ribbon closed around her hair, looking at the woman on her clinic table.
“I need to take your shirt off so I can get a good look at your wounds,” she said, shifting over to look for her pain medicines and needles. A knife in the back could hit a multitude of organs. Stomach, kidney, pancreas, an intestine.
Sometimes you learn things from experience as well as being taught.
Lucas looked at the woman as Maeve sterilized her scalpel. “Hey Amani, she’s gonna help you.”
Amani bit at his hand. He shifted away from her, muttering something in a bitter tone.
“I’m fine! I can fix myself up!” Her voice was a snarl.
Something about the notion of taking her shirt off was bothering her.
Maeve guessed it had to do with something on her back.
Like a scar.
She set her tools down on the table with a light thump. She was tired and could feel a headache coming on.
“If I show you the scars on my back, will you let me help you before you bleed out?” She rubbed her temples.
“I can fix myself.” There was an edge and some very creative swears following it as Maeve tapped the knife.
“A healing spell isn’t going to do much unless you have very flexible bones and can reach around your back to give yourself stitches. It’ll work wonders for some damage, but can you fix internal? What about stop the bleeding?”
The woman turned away.
“Amani please. I can’t help you,” Lucas whispered. “I’m useless.”
“You’re aren’t useless,” Amani muttered. “A fucking dumbass for bringing me here instead of helping me home, but not useless.”
“Sorry to say most of my medicine and herbs are locked up as well,” Maeve said, looking at the knife. She would need to get the woman’s shirt off her back to see the wound.
But maybe not take it of all the way...it was already torn up...and if she didn’t mind the loss Maeve would only need to tear it further instead of taking it off entirely. “You won’t be getting anything.”
She bent over to be eye to eye with Amani. “So you’re stuck with me helping you.”
“Sorry short stack, but the shirt stays on.”
“I will only need to tear it to see the wound.”
“On.”
Maeve huffed. “I will show you my back if you let me tear your shirt. But this is a timed offer as I do not want you to bleed out on me. Do you know how messy that would be? A pain to clean!”
Amani turned to look over at Lucas. He slapped a hand to his forehead. “So this is the Thumbelina you’ve been raving about? She’s a total bitch!”
She flicked her scalpel. “A bitch with a sharp object. Pick your battles wisely.” Her eyes darted down to the knife in Amani’s back. “If you can be wise at all.”
“Maeve!” Lucas wheezed.
Amani snorted. “Fiery.”
Maeve stood upright, resting a hand on her hip as she sighed. “I’m used to dealing with people like you. Now, the shirt is going to come off one way or another. Question is; do you want me to knock you out or are you going to comply?”
Amani mouthed the word ‘bitch’ at Lucas. He shot her a glare. “Amani, I love you, but please.”
“Yeah yeah. And you still brought me to the bitchy mean doctor.”
“For a knife lodged in your back!”
“That I can take care of!”
“It’s in your back!”
Amani huffed, turning back to Maeve. “So, if you help me, you’ll leave me alone? The both of you?”
“If you don’t decide to bite me first, yes. You’ll have to stay a little bit when the pain meds kick in since depending on the wound, they can be pretty powerful.”
Amani sighed. “Ugh.”
“This is no fun for me either.”
“So...you’ll show me your scars first, right?”
“We are on a time limit.”
“Your back first.”
She threw her hands in the air, Lucas backing away from the hand holding the scalpel. “Fine! Fine!” She set the scalpel down. “We are on a tight schedule but fine!”
She turned to Lucas, the heels of her shoes the only sound for a moment. “Help me with my dress please,” she said, moving her hair off one shoulder to reveal the laces down her back.
“You want me to what?”
She huffed, frustrated with the two of them. Her headache throbbed between her eyes. She wanted to rub her temples again. “Just...unlace me.”
“But-”
“Do you want her to bleed out?”
He shook his head, hands trembling a little as he untied the bow just under the collar of her dress. His touch was soft against her skin, moving quickly with the time crunch.
Even so, she couldn’t deny the hitch in her breath as he brushed her skin.
He grazed a jagged scar between her shoulder blades as he finished unlacing her.
“So what are you…”
“Showing her my scars as I’ve promised. Then I’ll pull that knife out and hopefully she’ll still be alive in time for me to give her stitches. But of course, she insists on this.”
Maeve rubbed her eyes, walking back to the woman on the table. She watched Lucas with an almost...amused glint in her eye.
Maeve shrugged the dress off her shoulders.
“Whoa hold on-”
She shot a glare at Lucas. Apparently even he caught on to the scene before him. “Oh relax, it’ll be quick. And I’m wearing something under this.”
“But…”
“Lucas, we don’t have time to ‘preserve my modesty.’ You may look away if you wish, but this sort of thing is nothing new to me. If she wants to see my scars to be more comfortable with me seeing hers, fine.”
“But you’re-”
“You are abnormally stubborn for someone in your position. It isn’t hard to catch on. If you do not wish to see me undress ever so slightly, then you may look away. But please remember she is bleeding out on my clinic table with a knife in her back. I do not believe we have the kind of time to discuss this.”
“Lucas just admit you like what you see and move on!” Amani called.
Maeve shot her a withering glare. “And you, you have no place to talk! Making me jump through hoops to take a knife out of your back.”
She held the bodice of her dress to her chest as she looked at Amani. “And here are my scars, are you happy?”
Amani stared at the mess of flesh on Maeve’s back. She knew it was a mess of old wounds. From axes. Arrows. Some burn scars. Bite marks. Knife and sword wounds. She was glad she was related to one of the best healers on her island.
“Damn.”
“Are we good now? Can I just tear your shirt a little to get the knife out?” Maeve huffed, pushing her dress back over her shoulders. She didn’t have time to lace it so she’d have to make due with showing a little bit of skin.
All she needed to do was just...heal, stitches, medicine, rest. Then she could get them out of her hair and pass out for a million moon cycles.
“You can tear it a little…” Amani muttered.
Maeve let out a tired sigh, picking up her scalpel and needles (with sutures already tied neatly, she anticipated someone coming in. But not this).
She tore Amani’s shirt, revealing a bit of marred skin. Gold paint was flaking off and onto the table. Amani twitched under her as she looked at the skin puckering around the knife.
“Fucking hell doc, your hands are so cold.”
“Oh yeah I know. Would you rather Giant manhandle you?”
“Gods he’d crush me!” “Hey!”
Maeve chuckled, giving the knife a good tug. Amani spewed curses as Maeve muttered something to herself. It was lodged in there pretty good. She suspected it hit an organ as well. She’d have to be quick with healing and stopping the blood.
“Well Miss. Amani, you might have another scar to add to your collection,” Maeve said, cleaning her hands on her apron. “And I do warn you, this might hurt a little.”
“Do your worst.”
“Oh I will.”
“Wait-”
She pulled on the knife. It came out with a spurt of blood. She was right about the organ thing, but thankfully it was only the small intestine. Any higher might’ve been stomach or even a lung.
Healing spells didn’t work with organs surrounded by bone.
Amani screamed, swearing in another language.
Maeve tossed the knife to the side, pressing her apron (her poor apron) to the wound. “Calma síos, ba é sin an chuid éasca,” she muttered, her native language a comfort to her. She breathed through her nose, gearing up for the healing spell.
There was a spark in her palms
And it faded.
Cursing, she fought for it back, but each attempt fell flat.
“Thumbelina?” Lucas asked.
“I don’t have enough fucking energy for this fucking goddamn spell. Shit.”
“Hey! Watch your fucking language in front of a patient!” Amani said.
“I shall do no such thing you fucking nitwit!” Maeve huffed, sweat dripping from her brow. Her hands were stained red.
“Can you...draw on energy from someone else?” Lucas asked.
“I could in theory, but I don’t know what it would do to the other person.”
“Could you use me?”
She turned to look at him, her dress fell off of one shoulder. “Could I what?”
“Use me. My energy.”
“He does have a lot of that- OW!” Maeve pressed the wound a little roughly to shut Amani up.
“I don’t know what it would do.”
“I know you can help.”
“Ugh,” Amani moaned. “Stop flirting and help me.”
“We aren’t flirting,” Maeve said firmly. “Lucas come here.”
He shuffled forward.
“Touch me.”
“Huh?”
“God- just...touch my back.”
He jolted, placing a hand on her bare skin. She sucked in a breath, his hand splayed along her scars. His hand was almost as big as her back was.
“N-Now,” she breathed. “Visualize.”
“Like what I do to channel my magic?”
He had magic? She wasn’t surprised he had it but surprised he’d use it.
Nonetheless it lent well.
“Yes. But channel it into me.”
“Are you sure...it gets kind of...powerful.”
“Just...do it. Giant, she is bleeding out as we speak.”
“Yeah! Help me, then flirt- HEY! Stop that!”
She pressed the wound again. “Save your breath, you will need it.”
Amani muttered something under said breath as Maeve counted down.
She was hit with a surge. She gritted her teeth, her hands going numb with the amount of energy.
Holy fuck.
“I cannot believe this is just...your magic,” she muttered as Amani writhed under her. Lucas was jumpy, flinching every time Amani slurred out a curse.
“I’m knitting the wound back together. It hurts like a son of a bitch, but I always stop before they black out. Not healthy to keep going otherwise.”
“Why does it hurt so much?” he asked, his breaths coming out in slight heaves.
“All magic has its price and drawbacks.”
She pulled back with a gasp. Lucas leaned against her. Amani stopped squirming.
“That fucking hurt,” she gasped.
“Well yeah. You got stabbed in the small intestine. And we still have stitches!” She massaged her temples. She smeared blood along her skin. Mm she’d have to bathe as well. Great.
“You okay there Thumbelina?”
“Mm fine. Just tired. Like you. I’ll be okay. Just gotta fix her up and get you guys some water.” Ugh she was woozy again. Her dress kept slipping down. She kept pushing it up. He watched her.
“You have tattoos on your back.”
“...I do indeed.”
“They’re lovely.”
She stiffened. “T-Thank you.” Amani rolled her eyes. His hand brushed one of her scars, making  her let out a tiny squeak.
“What’s this from?”
“A...brawl with my family.”
“A brawl?”
“Mmhmm. Hate to brag, but I won. I’m a bit of a feral fighter. I’m sure I can beat you.”
She started Amani’s stitches. Her bodice slipped down her arms. She cursed, pushing it back up.
“I’d like to see you try and beat me,” he said with a chuckle, holding her dress up and slowly lacing up the back. She went rigid at his touch. His hands were so much warmer than she expected.
She calmed her erratic breathing, focusing on her needlework. Amani was blessedly silent.
“I could and I would,” she said, tugging the wound closed.
“I’m like four times your size.”
“Yes but I’m fast. And I have military training. I don’t think you’ve ever seen me in action before.”
“Well no...but neither have you.”
“Ugh can you stop flirting!”
And then the silence was ended.
“It isn’t flirting, only a conversation while I help stitch you up.”
“Yeah but his hands are all over you.” His hands froze.
“He’s pulling up my dress.” She knotted the thread, snipping it with scissors she kept nearby. “A mer conversation about me whooping his ass is not flirting.”
“You whooping my ass?” he asked.
“Now this is flirting.” She turned to look at him. “I would, but I must say, it is a nice ass.”
He opened his mouth, closed it, opened it again, and then closed it.
He looked like a fish.
She giggled, turning back to Amani. She changed the conversation to ignore the heat in the tips of her ears. Even brazen flirting didn’t save her from the effects of the new found feelings she had for him.
“So I have some pain meds, but they’ll knock you out pretty good if you aren’t careful. I can also fetch you a new shirt if you’d like. This one is kind of a mess.”
She helped Amani to sit up. She ran her hands down the front of her shirt. “No thanks. Rather attached to this one.”
“Of course.”
“Damn, what’s with the way she speaks?” Amani looked at Lucas.
Like Maeve wasn’t right there.
This headache might turn into a migraine.
“It’s so proper!”
“Well she normally speaks...differently I suppose.”
“I only get very proper when I have a headache, and the two of you are the root issue,” Maeve groused, rubbing the bridge of her nose. “It was already a long day and now an even longer night.” She always fell back into her aunt's lessons when she was sick.
That or she lost her filter.
She preferred to sound like a lady. She hurt feelings when she didn’t have what little filter on.
“Ah so this is Maeve? She’s a treasure,” Amani snorted.
Maeve cracked an eye open. “Well a warning about you would’ve been nice as well.”
“He never mentioned me?” She looked at Lucas, jutting a finger at him. “You whore!”
“Amani!”
Maeve threw her hands into the air. “I’m going to get water both for myself and the two of you knuckleheads.”
“Hey!” they yelled at the same time as she walked away.
“What and you want to spend the night too?” she snapped, grabbing a few glasses and filling them with water from her bucket. She left bloody handprints but she couldn’t find it in her to care. “You need the water for the medicine anyways. I need it for my headache. And Lucas…”
“...we’ll just go with I’m thirsty.”
“Oh yeah you’re thirsty alright,” Amani huffed. “But not for the water.”
Lucas’ face flushed pink. “Amani!”
“Mmm I’m sure,” Maeve hummed, placing a glass in each of their hands. “And tell me, what on Earth would he be thirsty for?”
“...you know, sometimes I wonder if I can find someone as dense as Lucas and it appears that I have.”
Maeve chuckled. “Oh I’m fully aware of what your comment implies. I get enough of it from my little sister.”
...ah so that’s who Amani reminded her of.
No wonder she wanted to strangle her.
She just felt like her younger sister. Had the air of her.
Gods help her if they ever meet.
“But it’s more fun to watch him squirm.”
Amani’s eyes lit up. “Oh you. I’m starting to like you.”
“Mmm oh...wonderful,” she replied, moving over to look for the pain meds. “More people to bother me.”
“I thought you liked me!” Lucas protested, making her crack a smile. Her headache was slightly dulled by the water, but judging by how much her head throbbed not even sleep would help.
“On occasion,” she hummed, standing on her tiptoes to try and reach her lactucarium bottle. This tasted vile, but it was effective.
She swayed a little, being hit with a wave of dizziness. She stumbled backwards, hand coming down to rest on her forehead as she spat out curses. She most likely hadn’t been drinking water.
...now that she thought about it she didn’t even eat either. The meal Lucas brought sat untouched in her backroom.
He would kill her if he found that one out.
Speaking of…
She looked up at Lucas, who had caught her. She stumbled a little, trying to worm her way out of his arms. Amani was chuckling (and then yelping at the pull on her stitches).
“You okay there, Thumbelina?” The testing offense gone from his voice.
“Just a dizzy spell.”
“You’ve had a lot of those.”
“This time it’s from a headache. I’ll be okay once you two go home and I can sleep.”
He didn’t crack a smile like she hoped he would. Hers fell.
“Did you eat today?”
“Did you?” Amani called.
“Amani this isn’t about me-”
“Don’t make me come over there.”
“...fine. I didn’t eat. Maeve?”
She chewed her lower lip as he helped her upright. He reached over her to grab the lactucarium bottle. He handed it to her as she let go of her lip. “Well, no. I haven’t had the time and it...slipped my mind.”
“...like I said, you’re tiny enough as it is.”
“Like you can talk.”
“Tell him!”
“Shut up!” they both yelled.
All three of them stared at one another before laughing. The topic of eating all but forgotten.
“Okay Amani, this stuff is fucking nasty as hell, but it helps. I don’t have it in pill form so we’ll make due.” She poured a little of the lactucarium onto a spoon, and held it up to Amani.
“What you’re gonna feed it to- ACK!” She shoved the spoon in Amani’s mouth, watching her grumble and swallow the medicine.
Amani gagged. “Oh fucking shit yuck.”
“Oh yes. And the aftertaste is worse.” She set the spoon down, untying her bloodied apron and using it to pick up her bloody tools and the knife. She watched the woman guzzle down the water she brought with a chuckle. “See?”
“Lucas you chose to be friends with a sadist,” Amani moaned, pretending to swoon. “She’s gonna kill me!”
“Keep up the dramatics and I just might.”
“I really hope this means you two are getting along.”
“Hmm I dunno. Check in tomorrow.”
Amani snorted. “So maybe she isn’t as big of a bitch as I thought.”
“That’s sweet of you.” She dumped the bloodied tools onto a tray to be cleaned later. She folded the stick apron over one arm. She had blood on her cheek. Wonderful. “But I wouldn’t say that assessment was wrong.”
“You two are the worst,” Lucas groaned.
“Says the person who didn’t eat,” Amani replied.
“Neither did Maeve!”
“Well I’m not close enough to her to lecture her!”
He glared at Maeve who was looking very smug. “She’s not wrong Lucas dear. You also have a harder job than I do in terms of physical labor.”
“...you had to hold down Amani.”
“Who was being a pain.”
“Hey! I am right here!”
He snorted. “Okay that is fair. Is there anything I need to do with her stitches?”
“I’d give you aloe to put over it but a certain someone.” A man named Sam. One of her...infamous regulars. “Used up the rest of my fucking aloe.”
He shifted at her tone. “...and you...?”
“Well other than chasing him out of my clinic with a bone saw due to being a pain in my ass, using up the rest of the aloe plant I had. Which was a lot. And then taking candy I save for kids? Nothing.”
“...you chased him out with a bone saw?”
“Why yes I did.” She fluffed her ponytail. “So with Amani, you should keep her in bed for a little bit while she heals. Thanks to the healing spell it shouldn’t be too long. Reopening the stitches means coming back to me though and we certainly don’t want that.”
“Uh Doc.”
“...yes?”
“I think Lucas is still hung up on the fact you chased someone out with a saw.”
“Well he’d better bring his head back down to Earth or you two will be next. Do you have aloe, or can you get any?”
“Oh yeah! I grow it.”
“Oh wonderful! Just put that on your stitches to help with your skin. Honey is a wonderful antibiotic, to keep your wound from being infected. I’d say no heavy drinking or going out for at least a few days. Four at most.”
“Four days?”
“I’m sure you’ll survive.”
“...barely.”
“Come back here in a few days and if I give you the okay, go wild.”
“No more nasty pain medicine?”
“Unless the pain gets bad, no.” She looked at Lucas, who looked like he was trying to do a difficult math problem. It made her laugh. “You should take her home to get some sleep.”
He snapped out of his stupor. “And what about you?”
“Well currently, closed.”
“You should eat something.”
“I will.”
“Good.”
“...god that was so fucking awkward. Can I go home to die in peace?”
“You aren’t dying.”
“I dunno that stuff your little fairy, as you’ve called her, might just do me in.”
She felt her cheeks warm. He talked about her? She knew Amani mentioned it before but not it was really sinking in. “Oh don’t be dramatic. It was only pain medicine.”
She helped him get Amani up off the table, the woman muttering about how she was fine and that she could walk fine.
“Thank you, Maeve,” he whispered when they got to the door.
“It was no trouble.”
“Sorry we came so late.”
“I’m used to it.”
“You should get some sleep for that headache.”
“I think I can handle it,” she said with a smile. “You take care of Amani now. Oh and Lucas!” He turned around. “Eat something. Please. It’s not healthy to do the amount of labor you do on an empty stomach.”
“I...okay.”
“...bootlicker,” Amani muttered. He shoved her. “Hey! I’m injured!”
“When you’re better you can’t use that and then you’ll get it,” he muttered, making Maeve smile.
She waved them off, leaning against the clinic doorframe.
Lucas turned around to look at her, shooting her a small and a two fingered salute.
‘See you later, Thumbelina.’ he mouthed, making something...spark at her skin as she blushed.
Oh no.
