Hi C,
I am visiting Delhi soon. I so want your recommendations on some things please. Any bookstores(i know Fakir Chand), places to shop for jewellery or stationery shops. I would love to know anything particular you'd think is wonderful to check out in Delhi.
Thank you🌻
Hello! That's so exciting, is this your first time?
I'm going to leave the monuments-y stuff out, because I'm sure you've heard that enough and you'll figure that out just fine on your own. Outside of that, here's all I love doing (with map locations):
I don't actually care for Fakir Chand all that much, it's not the best store browsing-wise. I do love The Bookshop, Midland, May Day and Bahrisons (I've linked their oldest store, but they have multiple locations). You should also find stationery in Khan Market or Connaught Place -- I didn't have specific stores I went to, honestly. Please get your jewellery from the Janpath market
Also, a bunch of food places/cafes: Rude Chef for Northeast Indian/Southeast Asian food, Devan's for coffee, the restaurant at New Sikkim House, The Piano Man Jazz Club, Ama, Triveni, Cafe Lota.
If you have the time and if you like ceramics, you should go to the Hauz Rani market in Malviya Nagar which sells ceramic crockery and stuff, and it's fairly cheap. And Dilli Haat for general handicrafts stuff.
While you're there, you can also check what plays are running at all the theatres at Mandi House! They'd all be on Bookmyshow, or on the theatre's social media.
Have the nicest time!

Characters I headcanon as Pakistani because I am Pakistani.
Jason and Thalia Grace.
Beryl was on popular Pakistani Dramas in her hay day and made sure both her kids were fluent in Urdu.
Jason ended up forgetting it when he was taken by Lupa who spoke to him in Latin. And then Camp Jupiter demanded he speak English.
But then he lost his memories and could only speak his mother tongue. And only Thalia, Annabeth and Grover could understand him. Urdu was Thalia’s first language too. She knows enough English to get by and can’t be arsed learning any more.
Annabeth because she demanded Thalia teach her and began doing her own learning. And Grover because he’s Indian in the to series and I head canon speaks Hindi, which is very similar to Urdu.
Steve Harrington.
Parents tried to assimilate and outside the home just try and hide their heritage. His grandparents spoke to him in Urdu as a child but he didn’t retain much of it. Definitely had a “wish I was white” phase (and probably had fair and lovely pushed on him as child.)
As he began to grow and accept himself, he desperately tried to reach his roots. Got in touch with his grandparents again and began to heal.
Ain’t no Farah Fawcett here we be oiling that hair. Cooks recipes his grandmother used to make him (which the kids demand more of once they get a taste.) Re-learning Urdu with his grandparents and Robin.
He’s done the kurta over jeans look.
(Probably very much watched over by Lucas’s parents after they find out because he’s one of the only other people of colour in this white ass town.)
2012 Casey Jones.
Grew up in New York with an American father and Pakistani mother. Even after her mysterious death he’s still beloved by his family and goes to all the events.
He’s the cool cousin.
He’s always had a deep love for his culture and his city. And always been unapologetically himself no matter what. He has won over Splinter with karak (desi) tea. Has also definitely worn a kurta over jeans and trainers.
Bought mithai as an apology gift after bringing a footbot to the turtles lair and became Mikey’s best friend.
Blake Belladonna
Loved her culture, her home still ran off with a white man Blake tried to leave it all behind and assimilate to life in Vale. But she never felt like she belonged, but also believed she’d changed too much to belong back home.
But as she grew to accept herself and all that made her Blake Belladonna, that feeling begin to lessen. It’s still there, but maybe she can exist in two worlds instead of one. She shares stories with her friends, practices and teaches them (particularly Weiss) her mother tongue and traditions.
And they embrace her just like they always will.
Ozma
He assimilates to each new life but he’s still him under it all. It’s under lock and key, who he was but in the quiet moments he shares those little things. He’s not a fan off tea, he drinks only coffee and yet there’s a certain pink tea that he will always accept.
He and Salem smh ran off with a white woman had a grand wedding, there were no attendants but they more than made up for it. His girls all had bangles around their wrists and there was a once a time where wrapping them in his mother’s dupatta was the most magical thing of them all.
He’d leave a plate off apple slices in their rooms and smile as they happily ate them. The old men at the market would gently pat him on the head when they meet. Some of them still do, as if they know and maybe they do.
Things from the past hurt so much now, and yet he loves them.

Smart Shopping Strategies: Electric Kettle and OTG Price Check for Savvy Consumers
In this era where electronic commerce prevails, procuring optimal pricing for domestic appliances such as electric kettles and portable ovens necessitates certain cunning as a consumer. Since quoted figures differ substantially from vendor to vendor, whether online or within traditional retail establishments, making an informed comparison before selecting a product is vital. The author provides suggestions to guide shoppers in exercising astuteness when seeking these popular kitchen tools commonly utilized in Indian households. Adopting such an approach may aid one in acting prudently as a purchaser.
Check Electric Kettle Prices from Multiple Stores
Electric kettles have become a staple in Indian household kitchens for quickly boiling water for tea, coffee, instant noodles and more. Basic electric kettle price with 1-1.5 litre capacity starts from around Rs. 800 and goes up to Rs. 2000 or more for models with temperature control features, keep warm functions, etc.
Instead of buying the first model you see, wise consumers should check prices across major online sites. as well as local appliance stores. Don’t just compare MRPs; look at the best-discounted price offered. This small effort can save you several hundred rupees on the same kettle model.
Consider Functionality Along with the Price
While electric kettles under Rs. 1000 may seem tempting, they often compromise on safety mechanisms like auto shut-off and overheating protection. Spend a little more for better reliability and energy efficiency. Higher-priced electric kettles also usually come with keep-warm features that keep the water hot for up to 30 minutes. This can be handy when making several cups of beverage.
Evaluate Online Vs Offline Deals
In general, online prices tend to be lower due to lower overheads. However, watch for occasional sales at local stores that may match or even beat online offers. Consider other factors like convenience, the ability to check products physically before buying, payment modes, delivery charges, etc., impact the overall cost.
Look at OTG Options Carefully
Unlike electric kettles with fairly standard functionality, OTGs can come in many sizes, designs, and feature variants. A basic 12-15 litre OTG price can be between Rs. 3000-4000. Higher capacity 25-30 litre models typically cost Rs. 6000 upwards but are ideal for larger households or those who bake frequently.
When comparing different OTG models and prices, consider aspects like heating elements (coil vs sheet), temperature range, additional modes like grills, stainless steel cavities, timer functions, etc. All these add functionality that may be worth extra spending over basic models. Leading brands for OTGs include Morphy Richards, Bajaj and Prestige.
Hunt for OTG Deals Online
Buying an OTG online allows consumers to easily compare models, prices, and reviews, ensuring they find the perfect appliance for their baking, toasting, and grilling needs with minimal effort. As a relatively new entrant in many Indian homes, OTGs are a product category on which online sites frequently offer discounts and coupons, often with 20-30% off or more. Watch for OTG combo deals, too, e.g., OTG + bakeware kit. Again, check prices across sites to find the best bargain. Offline discounts may be limited for OTGs as they are not a mass market yet.
Read Reviews Before Deciding
With so many appliance models in the market, customer reviews provide valuable insights that can guide buying decisions. Check reviews on online shopping sites and independent consumer forums to identify recurring issues related to product performance, after-sales service, etc. This can help you zero in on the best-value products.
Avail of Payment & Delivery Incentives
Many e-commerce platforms offer incentives linked to payment methods or delivery selections to attract online shoppers. Using a certain credit card may get a 10% instant discount, while opting for slower delivery over standard delivery may qualify you for cashback. See if you can utilize such offers to maximize savings on buying an electric kettle online or making an OTG purchase.
Keep an Eye Out for Sales & Promotions
Shopping festivals are a great time to score attractive deals on kitchen appliances. Brand-specific sales also offer price drops and bundled promotions. Subscribe to online store newsletters so you are updated on upcoming sales events.
To obtain optimal pricing on domestic appliances such as electric kettles and OTG ovens, one must diligently investigate and compare alternatives. Although the most inexpensive option may appear superficially appealing, it proves prudent to make purchases judiciously, factoring in one’s particular usage requirements and financial situation when taking the long view. Allocating additional time to explore product offerings through both online and traditional retail channels can ultimately translate to considerable reductions in expenditure.

Van Gogh and Me.
In his lifetime, Van Gogh managed to sell a single painting, having died in poverty. Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, one of the most important precursors of modern painting. The son of a Protestant pastor, he was born in 1853, in Groot-Zundert, and his career was permanently marked by great changes. Initially (1869-1876), Van Gogh worked in several branches of the Goupil Gallery, interrupting this activity to study Theology in Amsterdam. Soon, however, he abandoned his studies and decided to make a career as a secular preacher, which took him to Belgium, where he worked for two years, then changing his profession. In 1881, he attended the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts for a few months. Two years followed in Paris, during which he learned the basic techniques of watercolor and oil painting. Between 1886 and 1887, Van Gogh lived in Paris with his brother Theo, who supported him financially.
The decisive change in his life came in February 1888, when he moved to the south of France, where he lived and worked with Paul Gauguin. Many of his best-known paintings (Coffee at Night, The Bridge of Langlois, The Bridge of Arles and Cornfield with Cypresses) are the result of his work from that year. Self-Portrait with a Severed Ear (1889) indicates the latent tragedy that would later completely ruin his life.
Art and commerce dominated the jubilee year of the talented painter, who for much of his life struggled with enormous financial difficulties.
Van Gogh's works reach very high prices on the art market: An indian ink drawing by the Dutch painter was sold at auction for around 1,230,000. During his lifetime, however, this type of recognition was completely denied him. On July 27, 1890, he shot himself with a revolver; The resulting injuries were so severe that they caused his death two days later.

Why Does the Education System Need to Change?
There’s a lot of pressure in today’s education system: the stress of covering the entire syllabus. There is also pressure on parents for the education of their children and pressure on teachers to transfer all the information and knowledge onto their students. Today we are here in 2023, where everyone is stressed, and to get relief from that stress & pressure, what we need is a better education system.
India is a top-ranking nation that is renowned for its science and technology, and this is due to the practical learning that goes into everything. When India used to be the world’s wealthiest nation and the centre of knowledge, students used to learn in open spaces under trees from their gurus. But now, the objective is to transfer knowledge from instructors to students, regardless of whether they understand the content.
That shows how much our country needs to change its education system. This article will share some of the best reasons why we need to change our education system. Grab a cup of coffee and sit comfortably to dig into it deep; let’s go:
Reasons why education needs a makeover:
Untrained teacher
We all know only rote learning techniques as this is our method for completing the entire syllabus rather than using any practical way of learning. Even our teachers taught us only the written book syllabus and covered it for the whole year. We need to finish the entire written syllabus in books without getting prepared for the real world we will face.
Unhealthy competitive nature
We all have experienced that. Yes! You are reading it right. From childhood, our teacher and parents always compared our school grades to others instead of seeing the uniqueness of every single student. We all are told to prepare for competition against each other rather than supporting each other or finding our unique skills or personality. Our education system only prepares students for a rat race to be engineers, doctors, CAs, or MBAs.
Outdated curriculum
In today’s fast-paced technological world, rather than providing any information or practical understanding of using technologies, students still use rote learning methods and cover their entire book syllabus to prepare themselves for exams.
Heavy curriculum
Today, only a tiny percentage of people have got real practical knowledge. Otherwise, we all had to read the complete book like a cram parrot before exams and then be left in the real world to deal with everything without having any knowledge of practical things.
Irrelevant information to the job market
The pupils’ knowledge now might need to be more helpful for the jobs they hold tomorrow. The traditional fields of engineering and medicine continue to receive priority in the Indian educational system. Because of the ongoing advancement of technology, the work sector has undergone a significant transformation. Yet, our existing curriculum does not equip our students with the necessary skills to find employment after graduation to promote entrepreneurship from a young age.
Insufficient focus on originality and innovation
The traditional gurukul system fostered innovation, experimentation, hands-on learning, and creativity. The current educational system in India cannot encourage kids to be imaginative or creative enough to master these crucial abilities.
Only if all students are encouraged to participate in discussions, develop unique solutions, or innovate.
To Sum Up:
Overall, there are various reasons why our education system needs to be changed. Students get pressured to study subjects they don’t want to study and have bad mental health because of high expectations from their parents. Also, our educational system fails to recognize or reward deserving students. These students’ futures are somewhere that also lies in the hands of untrained teachers. It is essential that students are taught the meaning of real life and how to handle it.

5 Reasons Why You Should Buy a Fully Automatic Coffee Machine
People in India who really love coffee truly understand how hard it can be to brew the perfect cup. If you are someone who still prepares coffee using a traditional stovetop, you might want to consider buying a fully automatic coffee machine. With these amazing inventions, whether at work or at home, you are able to enjoy good coffee without the hassle. Here are five good reasons why one should invest in a fully automatic coffee machine if they want to step up their coffee game.
1. The Ultimate Comfort
You can say goodbye to the long process of grinding coffee beans, getting the right amount of coffee, and pouring and brewing it by hand because automatic machines come power packed with the features to do this all for you. Just add coffee and simply press a button and the machine will do the rest for you.
Keeping in mind how busy a majority of people are in today’s era, these automatic machines have become lifesavers. Whether you want coffee before work or after, the fully automatic coffee machine will have it ready for you in seconds or minutes. You won’t have to struggle with coffee making ever again! Now if you are someone looking for these machines in the Indian market, there are so many out there.
2. Maintenance of Quality During Service
Sustaining quality is one of the great problems in manual methods of coffee brewing which a fully automatic machine provides a solution. The automatic machine has a set measuring equipment maintaining specific portions at every brewing meaning the great taste that came out last time will come out the very same way.
Whether the customer wishes for an espresso, cappuccino or an Americano, these espresso machines will ensure that the required temperature and pressure is maintained. Reliability and good performance is what a DeLonghi coffee machines and even the premium coffee machines provide.
3. Users’ Coffee Adjusting Features
In addition to saving time, it’s a fun way to brew coffee to say the least, but a fully automatic coffee machine is not about this alone. Most of the coffee makers for home use which are fully automatic have many settings and therefore, allow you to brew your coffee in a specific preset manner. Increase or decrease the milk froth, strength, or even the grind size depending on how you want it.
This feature is especially good for households or offices with many members who like different styles of coffee. Once you have a fully automatic machine then you will have all the members covered easily. Those looking for the best coffee machines for office will appreciate the automatic machines but need the adjustable ones.
4. Cost Efficient in the Long Run Although it may appear that one has to invest a huge amount of money upfront to purchase a fully automatic coffee machine, the savings that one will make over the years should also be taken into account. How much do you usually spend on drinking coffee in coffee shops? If you brew your coffee electrically at home, then you can save a lot of such expenses. Furthermore, brands such as DeLonghi coffee machines and professional coffee machines are an investment worth spending on because they are quite sturdy. If such machines are well taken care of and used carefully, it is very much possible for them to last for years, which is very ideal for coffee enthusiasts.
5. Improved Coffee Experience One of the best feelings in the world is the scent of freshly brewed coffee wafting around the household or workplace environment. Fully automatized coffee machines are integrated with grinders which ensures that one dose of coffee made uses freshly grounded beans. So that means, the coffee is bound to taste good as a cup of coffee made this way is a hundred steps better than instant coffee or even pre ground coffee. Whether entertaining guests or having a quiet moment alone, drinking coffee brewed from a good coffee machine takes the experience to another level.

India's coffee landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past century, evolving from traditional filter coffee to a burgeoning café culture that attracts international brands. This journey reflects the nation's changing social dynamics, economic growth, and the visionary efforts of individuals like V.G. Siddhartha, the founder of Café Coffee Day (CCD). Traditional Indian Filter Coffee: A Rich Heritage Indian filter coffee, particularly popular in South India, is renowned for its strong, aromatic flavor. The preparation involves brewing finely ground coffee beans with chicory in a traditional metal filter, resulting in a concentrated decoction mixed with hot milk and sugar. This method yields a beverage that is both robust and smooth, deeply embedded in the daily routines of many Indians. Notably, Indian filter coffee has garnered international acclaim, ranking second in TasteAtlas's list of the 'Top 38 Coffees in the World'. Tata Coffee: A Legacy of Excellence Tata Coffee, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, boasts a legacy that dates back to 1922. With over a century of experience in coffee cultivation, Tata Coffee has established itself as a significant player in the global coffee industry. The company operates extensive coffee plantations in regions like Coorg and Chikmagalur, producing high-quality Arabica and Robusta beans. Tata Coffee has been recognized for its excellence, having been awarded the 'Best Coffee in the World' at the Specialty Coffee Association of America's Coffee of the Year awards. The Rise of Café Coffee Day In the mid-1990s, V.G. Siddhartha, hailing from a family with deep roots in coffee cultivation, envisioned a new way for Indians to experience coffee. Recognizing the potential for a café culture in urban India, he founded Café Coffee Day in 1996. CCD revolutionized the Indian coffee scene by introducing a café experience that combined quality coffee with a social ambiance, appealing to the youth and urban professionals. By 2019, CCD had expanded to over 1,700 outlets across the country, becoming a household name. The Influx of International Coffee Brands The success of CCD and the growing urban middle class attracted international coffee chains to India. Brands like Starbucks and Costa Coffee entered the Indian market, offering a variety of coffee beverages and a global café experience. Their presence introduced new coffee consumption patterns, emphasizing convenience and international flavors. However, these brands have had to adapt to local preferences, incorporating Indian flavors and catering to diverse taste profiles. The Convergence of Tradition and Modernity The Indian coffee market now reflects a blend of traditional practices and modern influences. While international brands have introduced new coffee experiences, traditional filter coffee remains a cherished part of Indian culture. The success of homegrown brands like CCD and Tata Coffee underscores the potential of combining quality with cultural relevance. This convergence has led to a dynamic coffee culture that honors its heritage while embracing global trends. India's coffee journey from traditional filter coffee to a vibrant café culture exemplifies the nation's evolving social and economic landscape. The contributions of pioneers like V.G. Siddhartha and established entities like Tata Coffee have been instrumental in shaping this transformation. As the coffee industry continues to grow, it reflects India's unique ability to blend tradition with innovation, creating a coffee culture that is both rich in history and forward-looking.
