"Kiwi Car Hire: Experience the Best of New Zealand on Four Wheels"
Car rental services in New Zealand provide travelers with the flexibility and convenience to explore the country's stunning landscapes and attractions at their own pace. Here are some different details about car rental in New Zealand:
Rental Car Agencies: New Zealand has numerous rental car agencies operating at major airports, cities, and popular tourist destinations. International rental car companies and local providers are available, offering a wide range of vehicles to suit various preferences and budgets.
Vehicle Options: Rental car options in New Zealand typically include compact cars, sedans, SUVs, vans, and sometimes motorhomes or campervans. The availability of specific vehicle models may vary, and it's advisable to book in advance, especially during peak travel seasons.
Rental Requirements: To rent a car in New Zealand, you generally need a valid driver's license from your home country or an International Driving Permit (IDP). Some rental car agencies may have a minimum age requirement for renting, typically around 21 or 25 years old.
Booking and Rates: It's recommended to book your rental car in advance to secure the best rates and availability. Rates can vary based on factors such as the type of vehicle, rental duration, and additional services or insurance coverage chosen. Comparing prices and reading customer reviews can help you find the best deal.
Driving in New Zealand: In New Zealand, driving is on the left-hand side of the road, and the road rules adhere to international standards. Familiarize yourself with local road signs, speed limits, and give way rules. New Zealand's diverse terrain includes winding roads, so exercise caution and drive according to the conditions.
Insurance and Additional Services: Rental car agencies in New Zealand typically offer insurance options, including collision damage waiver (CDW) and third-party liability coverage. You may also have the option to add extras like GPS navigation, child seats, or snow chains depending on your needs.
One-way Rentals and Inter-Island Travel: Some rental car agencies in New Zealand allow one-way rentals, enabling you to pick up a vehicle in one location and drop it off at another. It's also possible to travel between the North and South Islands using the inter-island ferry services, taking your rental car with you for further exploration.
Roadside Assistance: Most rental car agencies in New Zealand provide 24/7 roadside assistance for any mechanical issues or emergencies during your rental period. Keep their contact information handy in case you need assistance.
Before renting a car in New Zealand, carefully read and understand the rental agreement, including terms, conditions, and any restrictions on driving areas or off-road usage. Take note of fuel requirements, return policies, and any additional fees that may apply.

stewart island (5)
New Zealand: Stewart Island from/to InvercargillThis strait is considered to be particularly stormy and rough. "There ahead", she calls and admonishes the forefinger on her mouth to rest "this is the Stewart Island Robin, my favourite bird". As soon as she has discovered him, she begins a quiet conversation, like two old acquaintances who have a lot to say to each other.
Tumblr media
Since the car cannot be taken to the island, park it for a fee of about I had no luck, while I wanted to spend the time on Stewart Island, bad weather was part of the program and I had to cancel many activities from the program. This didn't stop me from enjoying the island, but I have to admit that it doesn't have much to offer outside of outdoor activities. The place is very green and many birds live there. There are supposedly kiwis there, but I haven't seen them.

During my one year Working Holiday stay in New Zealand I didn't want to miss a visit to Stewart Island. Stewart Island is New Zealand's third largest and most unspoiled island and is connected to the South Island to the south. Cookies are used by us and our trusted partners to enhance, analyse and personalise your experience on Booking.com. On Stewart Island you will find untouched nature and solitude. This small island is located about 30 km from the mainland and is a paradise for hikers and bird lovers, which has hardly changed in thousands of years. The ferry crosses twice a day in just under an hour from Bluff to the small village of Oban. But in the reports of that time, there is still no name for the island. In August of that year, the ship drove from the Australian Port Jackson alongside the south coast of the then uninhabited Stewart Island, this time under Captain S. Chace. On board was also the first mate William Stewart, after whom the island was later named. He mapped parts of the south coast, especially South Port, today's Pegasus Port, and gave the map to the editor of the Oriental Navigator. Stewart Island is 1746 km² large and hardly inhabited. The hosts will pick up and take the guests to the ferry, otherwise you can also use the hosts' chauffeur service. Simple but very pleasant hostel with a good atmosphere and the best value for money on Stewart Island. Immediately the waiting minibus rolls onto the runway and takes the new guests on board.

7 days safari adventure from/to Maun
Most of us were taken to the airport the next morning and started the return flight, too bad we would have liked to stay a little longer. Past Huka Falls to a geothermal park in TeWhakarewarewatangaoteopetauaawahiao where we saw steaming springs, bubbling mud holes and our first living kiwi bird.

I have travelled New Zealand twice in detail and spent a total of 14 months there. In most of the accommodations you can expect a fantastic view of the mountains or the region. The Terrace Restaurant impresses with a breathtaking view of Mount Tongariro and Mount Ngauruhoe.
In addition to the impressive experience of the Mask Festival, you will see theatres of war, original markets, friendly villages, islands and the sea and hot springs of volcanic origin.
Lake Manapouri, Lake Te Anau and the small Mirror Lakes, which get their name from the reflecting surface.

...we wanted to give you a big hand and say thank you. It was a very successful and well planned trip. You could say, from beginning to end, thumbs up. With the Maori it is known as "MotuKokako", until now only few people have ever dared to climb this densely overgrown rocky peak. My journey leads me further to Northland. As the name already suggests, Northland stretches from the outermost tip of the North Island downwards and includes the Bay of Islands, the Kauri Coast and Whangarei. Yet Auckland is much more than just a big city, as the region offers a lot of activities and sights.

New Zealand Tips & Info for your New Zealand holiday
Not really a surprise, as the Australian and Pacific tectonic plates collide directly under the South and North Island, at a speed of 4 cm per year. As protection against tsunami waves, a pre-warning system has been set up along the coast and on offshore islands. The wild landscape has not yet been tamed in every respect, dangerous places are, for example, rarely fenced off and marked as in other countries. This closeness to nature is a privilege that must be enjoyed with responsibility, as it entails certain risks and dangers.
What luck we had, we found out the next morning after a stormy night accompanied by power failures. While we stayed overnight in a hotel with a functioning emergency power supply, a coach with 40 passengers had to spend the night on the then actually closed road. Like nowhere else in the world you can find a huge variety of different landscapes in New Zealand on a relatively compact area.

Food was stored in extra houses or caves dug into the rock. Down by the river the canoes were built and stored. A particularly beautiful large specimen can be admired there. As clothing the Maori wore flax woven skirts and capes. The fibres were dyed black at intervals to create beautiful patterns. A long, well fortified path leads out to the cape to the 10 m high lighthouse which is 165 m high above the sea. It was built in 1941 and replaced the 1879 lighthouse of nearby Cape Maria Van Diemen.

lake tekapo neuseeland (8)
Restaurants and markets * Tekapo itself is the only place on the lake of the same name. Although Tekapo has officially only a few hundred inhabitants, there is a lot going on in the centre during the high season. Tekapo is supposed to become more and more popular and we can also confirm this (compared to our trip in 2013). Lake Tekapo gets its intense milky-turquoise colour from fine rock dust that is ground up by glacier movements and kept in suspension by the lake's water. The hostel is located right on the lake, so you can look out over the lake from the kitchen and living room. We had a double room where the bed just fit in, the bathroom was a shared bathroom that was a bit outdated.

"This tricky work requires patience and is not everyone's cup of tea", Jane admits.
The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit Triology are as much a part of New Zealand as volcanoes, the sea and sandy beaches - but it's likely that the first two of these are now attracting almost more tourists to the country. Already during our arrival at Wellington airport there was no doubt that the New Zealanders had made friends with the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. "Middle of Middle-Earth" can already be read from the plane, only much later we discover a small, almost inconspicuous Wellington sign. The entrance hall of the airport is shared by Gandalf riding on a "Gwaihir" and a huge Gollum hanging under the ceiling. For Peter Jackson the local sheep were too modern. For this reason he had animals of another breed flown in from England, which was more in line with his ideas.

When we emigrated in 2011 we went straight to Auckland and at the beginning we really liked it there.
