Boat Airdopes 141 Vs Noise Buds Vs103
Today again we are here with the comparison article this is boAt Airdopes 141 Vs Noise Buds vs103. Many people want the comparison article of these two earbuds, so today we will do a detailed review on these earbuds.
Noise as well as boAt both are very good manufacturers and are established brands so, you can trust both the brands but today I will share my reviews about these earbuds.
If you are in search of the best headphones under 1500 then you should check our previous article, which is boAt Rockerz 510 review. In that article we have mentioned all the details about the headphone, so you should check that one also.
Now let’s come back to today’s topic.
Insta Wake N Pair technology
boAt Airdopes 141 earbuds come with the Insta Wake N’ Pair technology. Now the question arises what is ‘Insta Wake N’ Pair’. It means as soon as you open the lid it powers on the earbud and connects successfully to the Bluetooth device.
But the condition is if you have never connected that earbud to your device before then that Insta Wake N’ Pair will not work; it works only when you have connected your device with that earbud once.
The same technology has been included in the Noise Buds VS103 earbud, but the company has named it Hyper Sync Technology.
Noise Buds VS103 earbud will also connect to your paired device instantly.
The work of both is the same but the name has been changed.
Battery Life
boAt Airdopes 141 earbuds are equipped with a fast-charging feature that offers 75 minutes of playtime in just 5 minutes of charge. The earbud has 42 hours of playback time with 6 hours of non-stop music.
On the other hand Noise Buds VS103 comes with 18 hours of playtime out of which the earbuds offer you 4.5 hours of playtime on a single charge. The remaining 13.5 hours of charging will be fulfilled by the charging case.
Water And Sweat Resistant
The boAt Airdopes 141 earbuds come with an IPX4 rating, it protects your earbuds from water splashes from any direction.
On the other side, Noise Buds VS103 earbuds come with an IPX5 rating, this can protect the pressure water from entering into the earbud.
Bluetooth
boAt Airdopes 141 earbuds are equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 technology.
On the other side, the Noise Buds VS103 earbud is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 technology.
Our first comparison article was on Realme Buds Air 2 Vs OnePlus Buds Z, it became very popular. If you had not read that article you can check that from here.
Conclusion
So now it’s time to conclude today’s discussion, in short Noise Buds VS103 is the best earbud for you. As it provides you better connectivity, HyperSync Technology, decent looking, and design. The main reason to choose the Noise buds VS103 earbud is the audio quality. If you listen to the song in a very loud voice, then you will get a decent sound, not so much prick as the boat Airdopes 141 prick.
Both the earbuds have good connectivity, boAt Airdopes 141 earbud has Insta Wake N’ Pair technology and on the other side Noise Buds VS103 earbud has Hyper Sync Technology.
So, it’s totally up to you which one you have to choose. We have given you the full and detailed specifications of both buds.

Kinktober Day 24: Office Sex + Sub-Levi
Tumblr media
“office sex with sub levi (pegging, spanking, begging) plsss :))”
“she comes into his office. Sits on his desk. Spreads her legs onto either side of his office chair, “make me cum.” His demanding little doll orders him, pulling his hair down to her underwear-less wet jewel . He’s so hard that he literally has to touch himself while eating her out.”
Word count: 1500
Tags: levi x reader, smut, cunnilingus, pegging, spanking, canonverse, sub!levi, femdom!reader
Remember! Levi hates art theft.
Tumblr media
Documents littered his desk. Their messages hard to read. Their letters hard to decipher. Too long without you, it always messed with his head: incapacitated in his job, barely able to function otherwise. Never mind the coil wound in his middle and the longing tucked under his waistband. Levi propped an elbow on the pile, his head perched atop his hand. Staring off into space, gaze wandered to the door, wondering when he would see you again, praying that it would be soon.
You were the one thing on his mind.
Things within the regiment had been chaotic, but that was nothing new. What was new was your recent promotion. No longer trying to keep yourself alive, but a sizable bundle of soldiers as well. You felt totally in charge, but for the dom you were, that was nothing new. What was new was that you were no longer in control of one scout, but overseeing a few dozens. In doing so, you felt you had neglected the one you held most dear, the one who you gave that special treatment. And that just wouldn’t do. Heading to his office, you smirked to yourself.
He was the one thing on your mind.
// // //
Levi always did his best work in the midnight hours. The same was true for you - but a different kind of work. Still, it somehow managed to catch him off guard: how every time he was knee-deep in paperwork, those were the particular times you decided to waltz right into his space. A swipe of your arm pushed everything to the floor, clearing the way for you and you alone, only seconds before you took your rightful seat on his desk top and anchored your heels onto the arms of his leather chair.
“Make me cum.”
Not even a hi, how are you? I missed you so much. Ironically, it was why you two were such a perfect match. No nonsense. No bullshit. Straight to the fucking point. Desperation in the puppy-dog eyes of your servant, you met him with a look of command and complete control - what was the point in delaying for even one more second? Not just in your glance, but in your actions. Hand thrown roughly into his hair, squeezing a fist with his locks, shamelessly yanking his face to your most shameful space.
Chin propped on the cloth of your pant, silver eyes rose to meet your attention. On their way, they could not help themselves, drinking up the sight of you. Hips spread wide, your breast full, their buds peaked, and god how incredible they looked from this angle.
A scene you two had played out many times before - his body remembered everything. Levi felt his hands start to sweat where he held you, his tongue start to salivate as he recalled your immaculate taste. Before he could indulge, though, he had to follow the rules.
Batting his eyelashes, trembling already, “May I undress you?”
You knit your brows, sparking an instant jump in his chest. Fingers tightened at his scalp, “What was that?”
Levi shivered beneath you. It really had been too long, how else could he have forgotten? “Please?”
But perhaps it had been too long for you, too. An urge to say that’s my good boy had to be thwarted: remember, he has to earn it.
Earning your praise. Maybe it would get him demoted, but if the captain was asked about his greatest motivation, the source of his strength, he could have said the standard - to save humanity, to avenge the fallen - but that would have been a lie. Threading your button through its loop, gently pulling your zipper down, and tugging your cotton to your ankles, every inch that he saw of you only reaffirmed: you were his greatest priority.
Demonstrated to you as well. Kisses on your inner thigh, careful not to leave bruises. Teeth grazed along your tendons, avoiding the potential of bites. That was your job. Levi offered his everything to you: letting you pull him this way and that way, wherever you wanted him, whatever you wanted from him - you led, he followed.
Past grit teeth, “More tongue, Levi.”
A sinister coo, “Suck my clit, baby, don’t be shy.”
Delightfully breathless, “Your hands too, you think I can’t take it?”
Five fingers inside you. The other set wrapped around his own cock. He knew he was not supposed to touch himself without permission, especially in the midst of serving you. But it was a trade-off of this long separation. Maybe you would not have crumbled so easily. Maybe your eyes would have stayed open much longer. Maybe you would have had the tenacity to stop him.
But maybe not. So parched for the taste of you, it had nearly driven him insane. Loud and frenzied slurps. Pussy-drunk sighs. Gulping you down like you were the last thing on earth. Tongue diving between all of your folds, leaving no space unclean. Chapped lips matched the smooth ring of your vulva, keeping you pried open for him. Fingers reached the places that were too far for his tongue. Fingertips curled to find and tap that one particular spot. Inadvertently or by convincing coincidence, it was the little things that started to tip you over the edge. How his bangs brushed against your skin, tickling. The satisfied moans that landed upon your middle, vibrating. The alternation of his gaze from squeezed shut in focus to checking up on you.
Lips parted, head tilted back, your hand in his hair started to falter. All the telltale signs you had trained him to memorize, “L’Levi, Levi, I…!”
It was his cue. Digits propelled further. Tongue danced faster. Burying his face in your sex, the arc of his brow hard against your pillowy front, angled nose rubbed your pearl just right. Dirty words spilled out his mouth, muffled in your cunt, music to your ears, yet drowned out by your own cries.
Waves that started in your core, but had been brewing long before you took a seat on his desk. Perhaps you did not speak it often, but your body said it for you: just how long you missed him. A warm wax that dripped throughout your bloodstream before morphing into a cascading downpour.
“Oh, Levi…” you sighed, coming off of your climax, “you’ve been such a good boy.” Patting his head like the darling pet he was. “I’d say you’ve earned yourself a little reward.” Index finger and thumb pinched his chin, perching his gaze to yours. Lips as close as could be, your words slithered between his teeth, “What do you say, hm?”
He felt he had no right to demand anything from you - despite how easily you did from him. But fuck… how badly he wanted to snatch your offer. Tucking his lip under his teeth, biting back his eagerness, he composed himself as best as he could - knowing the demeanor it took to be granted what he so desperately needed. Levi donned your favorite look: face at your lap, pathetic eyes looked up through sullen bangs. Begging, he spoke your favorite sentence: “Please.”
// // //
He had to earn it.
It was what was running through both your minds now. Each vicious slam of that strap-on. Every spank that painted his ass red. Each rattle of the desk and overstimulated cry that followed. Your praise and his pleasure perpetually at the forefront.
Bare naked he was, meanwhile, you stayed dressed down to your corset and panties. You had Levi bent over his own desk as you towered above him: having kicked his chair away and standing in its place - giving you the space to pound into him the way he deserved. In the reflection of his shiny desk, the one he kept so tidy all other nights, he saw himself: bangs slicked to his forehead in sweat, a bright pink blush on his cheeks, veins in his neck protruding, tongue flopped out - his mouth impossible to control - whines, groans, and screams bouncing off his four walls. Levi stared at his expression, you stared at his raw backside - no question about the menacing dom you were and the whiny little sub he was.
Humanity’s strongest soldier, you were the only one to ever bear witness to his unraveling. You wanted to keep it that way.
His ears on alarm as they picked up the harsh current of wind: you whipping your hand back again. His throat choked up as he felt your length draw all the way out only to slam even further back in. Rapid panting, heavy breathing, the coherence in his speech disintegrating. H’ah! Fuck! O’Oh! eventually the only phrases you could discern.
His ass tightened around your toy. Involuntary rocks of his hips. His torso rising and falling with each labored breath.
He had to earn it.
A smile he could not see, but heard, admiring: “You’re so cute, Levi…”
Thank you, mistress. That was what he had to say, and he knew it. Despite all the times he had managed it before, despite how many times the sentence ran through his mind now, he just could not get his body to cooperate.
“T-Th…” Levi writhed against the hardwood - his member grinding against the pressure, he only made it harder for himself. “Th-Tha… n’ngh…!”
Muscles rippled beneath your touch. White-knuckle grip on the edge of his desk. Matching was the passion that stained his cherrywood and stuck to his own abdomen. Cumming all over himself, couldn’t even help it, pathetic little thing.
He had climaxed without permission. You had let it slide just this once. For surviving that time apart, both of you had turned the other cheek, he believed you would spare him, you believed he deserved one free pass.
Post-coital smiles shared: I missed you. Sparks within your gazes: But next time will be harder.

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat in under 1500 words
Here's my under-1500-word summary of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, a book about the skill of cooking by Samin Nosrat.
There are four basic factors that determine how good your food will taste: salt, which enhances flavor; fat, which amplifies flavor and makes appealing textures possible; acid, which brightens and balances; and heat, which ultimately determines the texture of food.
Salt
Salt amplifies other flavors, except bitterness; it reduces bitterness.
Fine salts can be up to twice as dense as course salts, so measure salt by weight, rather than by volume. Better yet, measure by taste.
It's usually best for food to be salted from within, rather than sprinkled with salt at the end.
In many cases, salt is best added before cooking so it has time to diffuse through the food. For meat (but not fish), salt hours (or days) before cooking. For vegetables (but not mushrooms), salt 15 minutes before cooking.
Taste often while cooking, and add more salt if needed.
Fat
Fat plays three distinct roles in cooking: as a main ingredient (e.g. butter in a pastry or olive oil in pesto), as a cooking medium (butter to sauté vegetables), and as a seasoning (e.g. sour cream in soup, mayonnaise in a sandwich). Knowing which role fat will play will guide you to choose which fat to use for your purpose.
Fat carries flavor. It coats the tongue, allowing aromatic compounds to stay in contact with taste buds for longer periods of time. Take advantage of this by adding aromatics (e.g. garlic) directly into the cooking fat. When baking, add vanilla extract and other flavorings directly into the butter or egg yolks for the same result.
Fat also enhances flavor another way. Cooking fats can withstand temperatures well above the boiling point of water (212°), so they can do what water can't: facilitate browning (which begins around 230°). Browning can introduce entirely new flavors.
An important factor, when choosing a fat, is to match it with the culture of the food you're creating, otherwise it won't taste right. e.g. don't use olive oil in Vietnamese food, or smoky bacon fat in Indian food.
Which fats we use primarily affect flavor, but how we use them determines texture. Depending on how we use fats, we can achieve one of five textures: Crisp (e.g. fried food), Creamy (e.g. chocolate, ice cream), Flaky (pastries), Tender (shortbread), and Light (whipped cream).
Foods that are too dry, or need just a bump of richness, can be corrected with a little olive oil (or other oil), or another creamy ingredient such as sour cream, crème, fraîche, egg yolk, or goat cheese. Use vinaigrette, mayonnaise, a spreadable cheese, or creamy avocado to balance out dryness in a sandwich or atop thick, crusty bread.
Acid
Like salt, acid heightens other flavors. But while the salt threshold is absolute, acid balance is relative. If you add too much salt to a broth, it's unsalvageable, except through dilution. But if you add too much acid to something, you can add sugar, salt, fat, bitterness or starch to change it from unpalatably sour to pleasant. (For example, if you make lemonade from lemon juice, water, and sugar, try tasting it before and after you add sugar, and what was unpleasantly sour becomes good.)
Let geographic tradition guide your choice of acid to use: wine vinegars in Italian, French, Germany, and Spanish cuisine; rice vinegars in Asian cuisine; apple cider vinegar for British and southern American food; lemon and tomatoes in Mediterranean food, lime in tropical climates like Mexico, Cuba, India, Vietnam, and Thailand; dairy can fit in most cuisines.
Acid dulls vibrant greens, so wait until the last possible moment to dress salads or squeeze lemon on cooked green vegetables.
Acid keeps reds and purples vivid, so add acid before cooking purple cabbage, red chard stems, and beets.
Raw fruits and vegetables vulnerable to oxidation, like apples, avocados, and bananas, will retain their natural color if coated with acid or kept in water mixed with a few drops of lemon juice.
Acid keeps vegetables and legumes tougher, longer. Anything containing cellulose or pectin will cook much more slowly in the presence of acid. Fifteen minutes of simmering in water can soften carrots to baby food, but they'll still be somewhat firm after an hour stewing in red wine. If you've ever cooked something with onions and been perplexed at the onions not cooking, it could be that an acidic ingredient - perhaps tomatoes, wine, or vinegar - is interfering.
As in general with cooking, the best way to optimize acidity is to taste during cooking and adjust.
Heat
To determine whether the heat level is correct, the best cooks look at the *food*, not the the heat source. They listen for the changing sounds of a sizzling sausage, watch the way a simmer becomes a boil, and taste a noodle to determine whether it's al dente. Is the food browning, firming, shrinking, crisping, burning, falling apart, swelling, or cooking unevenly?
Food is primarily made up of: water, fat, carbohydrates, and protein.
Water can be a medium in which we cook other foods. At low temperatures, water is particularly gentle. Simmering, braising and poaching provide foods with the sustained low heat they need to develop tenderness. Heat water to 212° at sea level and it boils, giving us one of the quickest and most efficient ways to cook food.
Beyond 212°, water transforms to steam, a valuable visual cue: as long as food is wet and giving off steam, its surface temperature probably isn't hot enough to allow browning to begin. Caramelization and the Maillard reaction don't begin until food reaches higher temperatures.
Make decisions in relationship to steam. Encourage steam to escape if you want temperatures to rise and food to brown. Contain steam with a lid to allow food to cook in a moist environment if you want to prevent or delay browning.
Food piled in a pan can affect steam levels by acting like a makeshift lid; both entrap steam. Trapped steam condenses and drips back down, keeping food moist and maintaining a temperature around 212°.
Control steam in the oven when roasting or toasting food similarly. Spread out zucchini and peppers so steam escapes and browning begins sooner. Protect denser vegetables that take longer to cook, like artichokes, from browning too much before they can cook through by packing them tightly to entrap steam.
At high temperatures, sugar melts. At very high temperatures (340°), sugar darkens and caramelizes, producing hundreds of new compounds with abundant new flavors: acidic, bitter, fruity, caramel, nutty, sherry, and butterscotch.
Cooking fruits, vegetables, dairy, and some grains releases their sugars. As heat penetrates a boiling carrot, for example, its starches break down into simple sugars, and the cell walls enclosing the sugars disintegrate, making a cooked carrot taste sweeter than a raw one.
Heat proteins in the presence of carbohydrates, and the Maillard reaction occurs, heat's most significant contribution to flavor, with notes like floral, onion, meaty, vegetal, chocolatey, starchy, and earthy. It's often accompanied by dehydration and crispness, so the texture is also often improved.
Browning begins around 230°. The temperatures required to achieve this tasty browning will dry out proteins, so beware. Use intense heat to brown the surface of meats and quickly cook tender cuts through. After browning a tougher cut such as brisket, on the other hand, use gentle heat to keep its interior from drying out. Or cook it through with gentle heat first, and brown the surface at the end.
Brown with care; it's easy to burn.
Cooking sometimes continues after removing the food from the heat source, as the residual heat continues cooking. Proteins in particular are susceptible to carryover.
The primary decision is whether to cook slowly over gentle heat, or quickly over intense heat. For some foods, the goal is *creating* tenderness; for others, it's *preserving* tenderness. In general, foods that are already tender (some meats, eggs, delicate vegetables) should be cooked as little as possible to maintain their tenderness. Foods that start out tough or dry and need to be hydrated or transformed to become tender (grains and starches, tough meats, dense vegetables) will benefit from longer, more gentle cooking. Browning, whether for tender or tough foods, will often involve intense heat, so you'll combine cooking methods. For example, brown and then simmer meats in a stew, or simmer and then brown potatoes for hash to ensure browning *and* tenderness in both cases.
Gentle cooking methods (for creating or preserving tenderness)
Simmering, Coddling, and Poaching
Steaming
Stewing and Braising
Confit (poaching in fat)
Sweating
Bain-marie
Low-heat Baking and Dehydrating
Slow-roasting, Grilling, and Smoking
Intense cooking Methods (often for browning)
Blanching, Boiling, and Reducing (an exception to this list - these, of course, don't brown foods)
Sautéing, Pan-frying, and Shallow and Deep-frying
Searing
Grilling and Broiling
High-heat Baking
Toasting
Roasting

Lilacs and Pink Camellias
Part of my Floriography Series
Pairing: Agent Whiskey x F!Reader Words: 1500 Warnings: mentions of death, angst, visiting a grave Synopsis: You reminisce over your most treasured memories of Jack.
Tumblr media
Lilacs: a reminder of an old love. Pink Camellias: longing for you.
💐
It was customary to bring flowers to a grave, but seeing as the grave itself was a flowerbed with a vast array of purple buds and pink petals, you didn’t think it necessary.
The mound of earth stood in a private fenced off area on a small part of land that was technically yours now, it was written in the will after all. A little under hundred feet away was the house that was also left to you, a one storey building with all the basics, nothing fancy, it was perfect for what you and Jack needed.
Jack Daniels Loving Husband Gone Too Soon
You read over the words on the grey stone slab. Simple, to the point, just like the man. It reminded you of the first time you’d met him, the way he’d been so forward yet charming in only the way Jack could get away with.
“I need these files sorted before- why hello there, you must be new because I would have noticed someone as beautiful as you if you’d been here before.”
You stared at the man, who had thrown down multiple files on your desk, like a deer in headlights. He was wearing the most outrageous whiskey bottle shaped belt buckle you’d ever seen, and on top his head sat an oversized stetson with small studs along the brim. He looked like he’d jumped straight out of a wild west cartoon but here he was, in the flesh, waiting for a response.
“I started today,” you breathed out, earning a smirk from the man and a wink.
“Agent Whiskey, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” he took your hand off the desk and left a lingering kiss on the smooth skin, “I hope I’m not being too forward, but how about I show you round this place, give you the grand tour, maybe get lunch along the way, what d’ya say?”
You chuckled to yourself and could almost hear his Southern drawl in your ear. It had hypnotised you from day one, rendered you incapable of ever saying no to him. Lunches became dinners, which became late nights rolling into early mornings.
Your shoulders hunched up at the sound of thunder in the distance and you looked up to notice greying clouds in the sky that hadn’t been there when you first arrived. It would rain soon, and the overgrown grass would grow higher and then you’d have to find the energy to cut it soon. It would be for the first time, the grave only a couple of weeks old.
You felt a shudder run through your body at the thought of the upkeep, keeping the weeds trimmed, the flowers watered in the dry summers, the gravestone clean. Would you have to do this forever? Would there come a day where you would stop? Was that socially acceptable?
You didn’t know how to keep flowers growing, had never had a garden to call your own until Jack came along, but you somehow needed to keep the lilacs and the camellias around the grave growing. They had been in the bouquet at your wedding and in the vases on the tables at the reception. Everyone had commented on how pretty they looked, including Jack.
“How’re you doing, darling?” Jack spun you around effortlessly before pulling you back into his chest to continue dancing. This was the first time you had had the chance to speak to him, the rest of the reception having been taken up by playing host, making your way around the guests, ensuring everyone was happy with the music choice and the buffet food.
“I’m happy, tired, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” you smiled genuinely, mesmerised by the look of love in Jack’s eyes as he swayed you to the slow song playing in the background. The lights of the dance floor had been lowered, twinkling fairy lights along the wooden beams of the barn the only source of light, meaning everybody but Jack was in darkness.
“I told you to enjoy yourself, stop trying to please everyone,” Jack pressed a chaste kiss to the corner of your mouth and pulled you closer to rest his temple against yours. His chastising was in jest, he knew you’d be like this, you always thought of others before yourself, and he wouldn’t want you any other way.
“I am enjoying myself,” and you were, you couldn’t believe how well everything had turned out, “because everyone is happy.”Jack snorted, pulling back to give you a disbelieving look.
“My wife.”
You grinned, a chuckle escaping your lips as you prepared to say the words for the first time.
“My husband.”
Those flowers would remind you of the most important day of your life so they had to stay.
You felt the first droplets of rain fall on your head. You wrapped your cardigan around you tighter and turned in the direction of your home, hurrying for shelter.
You reached the wrap around porch that allowed you to look out over your garden. The vegetable patch to the left was created when you moved in shortly after your wedding day. Jack helped you plant winter vegetables, squash, carrots, you even tried pumpkins for Halloween but that hadn’t worked out, much to your amusement.
Straight ahead was the path to Jack’s grave, in your direct line of sight when you opened the front door every morning to collect your mail. It would be a reminder of how fragile life was, how quickly it could change and to never take anything for granted, especially love.
You sat on the porch swing, watching the pitter patter of rain turn to fat droplets that hit the porch roof with loud smacks. It was raining like this when you got the phone call telling you about Jack’s mission gone wrong. You’d never forget that day.
Ginger ran through the door of your office like her life depended on it, short hair askew and a cell phone in her hand. You were lounging on the loveseat, shoes kicked off and feet up, lunchbox resting on your lap as you ate a sandwich and counted down the minutes until you’d have to be back behind your desk.
You nearly laughed, your lips were starting to curve upwards but you froze at the look on Ginger’s face. It was pity, and sadness and horror all rolled into one. You didn’t understand something was terribly wrong until she opened her mouth to speak.
“Whiskey, he’s… oh god, I’m so sorry.”
The words, the delivery of them. Your heart dropped, you swear you felt it happening, it was pushing against your ribs, trying to rip through your chest, that’s how much it hurt. You were choking on your own throat, or was it the sandwich you hadn’t quite managed to swallow?
Ginger was waiting for a reaction, prepared for a barrage of tears or a complete breakdown but she witnessed neither. Instead you put your hand out for the phone in her hand, silently demanding you hear the news from the scene.
Taking the phone, you held it up to your ear and heard heavy breathing on the other end.
“Jack?” Your voice broke as you awaited the news.
“No, it’s Tequila. Whiskey’s gone. There’s nothing we could do.”
It was obvious to say it, but rain made you think of tears, which made you think of heartbreak, which in turn made you think of that day. You think it always will.
The storm was getting worse, darkening the sky so much you could barely see over the porch railings but you still managed to spot the headlights of a car heading towards you. It drove through your gate, onto your land and parked up near the steps leading to your home.
The man that stepped out of the car held a bag of takeout in one hand and a bottle of champagne in the other. He kicked the car door shut and ran up the steps, pausing in surprise to see you sat out in the cold.
“Darlin’ you best get inside before you catch your death,” he grinned and took a seat on the swing beside you, “I wouldn’t be a good husband if I let that happen now, would I?”
You chuckled and saw a glint of mischief in Jack’s eyes, those eyes that always looked at you with love and adoration.
“I was at the grave before it started raining.”
“Ah, and how was I?”
“Still dead.”
“Good, and that’s exactly how I want to stay. If it means spending the rest of my life with you.”
You sighed in relief. No Statesman to bother you, no criminals to catch, no more putting your lives on the line to save the world. Just you, Jack and your little plot of land, until the end of your days.

Designing Men
An ikevamp Leonardo story, approx. 1500 words of pure fluffy goodness.
First: That First Night
Previous: Three Words
Leonardo was up early. He hadn’t been able to sleep well after his ‘nap’ in the library. All he could think of was the touch of cara’s lips on his own and the sound of her muffled sobs as she cried herself to sleep. Leo wanted to make it up to her - it being the distance he put between them. He needed to make her happy, even if that joy was only fleeting.
The kitchen was empty when he got there. He set about making a pot of coffee. He sat down on a stool beside the counter and stared at the kettle, waiting for it to boil.
“A watched pot never boils, old friend.” Comte spoke from the doorway, one hand on the frame.
“That so? I’m pretty sure it heats at the same rate.” Leo grinned. “Anyway, what are you doing up at this hour?”
Le Comte shrugged. “I have business to attend to in town. The appointment is quite early.”
Leonardo’s eyebrows rose.
“Nothing you’d be interested in. Just visiting some clothiers.”
“Because you need another closet full of clothes?” Leo chuckled. The kettle began to hiss, and he took a moment to pull it off the heat and pour it over the coffee grounds. The rich scent filled the room, a heady good morning for a man that loved to sleep.
Comte waited for him to pour the coffee before answering. “It isn’t for me. But if you’ll remember, there’s a lovely young lady under our roof with a fancy party to attend. I plan to get her the most expensive gown in Paris, with jewelry to match. A little token of my affection.”
Leonardo took a moment to process this. “My cara mia? You’re buying her dress?” He blinked. “But I’m her date.”
“Yes, and it was very kind of you to agree to escort her. I’m sure seeing the two of you out together will quiet your -”
“Comte. I should be buying her dress.” Leonardo’s golden eyes met his old friend’s amber ones. The silence between them was thick.
Le Comte was the first to turn away, looking to the side as he took a cautious sip of coffee. “Normally, yes, of course. But you’ve no interest in this beyond the practical benefit - right? It’s not as if you care what the girl wears.”
Which was generally true. Leonardo cared little about fashion or high society. But for his cara . . . that was different. He wanted her to have a gown that was as special as she was. “I care if I’m the escort.” He gave his old friend a half-smile. “But I think you knew that. More of your meddling?”
“If you want to call it that.” Comte set his coffee down. “I leave in fifteen minutes. Should I assume you’ll be accompanying me?”
“Make it ten.” Leonardo rushed upstairs to change his shirt and find his good shoes. There was one thing he knew about shopping with le Comte. It would be an all day affair.
The two men arrived in town. The coach let them off near the Champs Elysees, where all the modern, fashionable shops did business. Most were still closed at this hour, but one had their light on. The sign read House of Worth in bold, gold letters. An old man stood by the door, waiting. When he spotted them, he waved.
“Monsieur le Comte, welcome. Welcome. And I see you’ve brought an assistant?” The man had a distinct British accent and something about him looked familiar to Leonardo, though he couldn’t place it.
“Yes, thank you Charles. This is my dear friend, Leonard. Leo, this is our clothier - Monsieur Charles Worth.” Comte introduced them as they were led inside.
The dressmaker shook Leo’s hand. “Please, call me Charles. Any friend of le Comte is a friend of mine.” He was practically wagging his tail with excitement.
Leonardo had the distinct feeling Comte must have made many purchases from this shop to be on such terms with the man. He couldn’t help but wonder how many times his old friend needed to buy a lady a fancy dress. Probably best not to ask.
Charles led them to a comfortably appointed back room. He’d already hung several racks with swaths of fabric. There was a deep blue dangerously close to blue de France, a pale golden yellow, wavering dip-dyed red, and a green that was the same shade as a flower bud in spring.
“You know, normally the lady in question is present to match the tone of the dye to her skin, hair, and eyes. Is it possible to -”
Comte shook his head, interrupting. “No, Charles. This is meant to be a surprise. I’m afraid you’ll have to trust us on the color.”
“Yes, of course, but I don’t see how I’m to determine the cut and measurements and -”
This time it was Leonardo that spoke over the clothier. “I’m an artist and a designer myself. And I know all her measurements. Let’s get on with it.”
“Oh? Indeed, sirs.” Charles’ eyebrows went up as he said it but his tone was still obsequious. Had it not been for his vampiric hearing, Leo would have missed the muttered “Know-it-all-amatuer artists” the clothier added under his breath.
Predictably, Comte went for the red material first. He was always drawn to scarlet and ruby tones. Leonardo ignored his friend’s chatter with the dressmaker, focusing instead on how the colors would look against his cara’s skin. Warm tones would look better, he decided. Something less the color of gore and more the color of caramel or chocolate. Sweet as she was.
“‘Scuse,” he interrupted. “The lady would look better in -” He let his eyes travel around the room, settling on a deep cocoa colored silk. “That.”
“Monsieur, with all due respect, that color is an accent at best. This year’s fashion tends toward light and bright and -” Charles’ hands danced through the air, outlining the dress silhouettes he was imagining.
Leo grinned. “Sure. But this lady needs that fabric.”
Charles looked to le Comte.
“I am afraid I must yield to my friend. Leonard will be her escort and knows her tastes better than I.”
Leonardo and Charles went through an entire shipment of various chocolate and cinnamon tones, each just slightly different than the one before. With dye chosen, there was fabric finish and weight, weave and thread count. Comte sat himself down with a small, satisfied smile.
Two hours later, the three men were hunched over a desk, exchanging charcoal sketches on thin sheets of paper. Leonardo proffered three designs for his cara while Charles had one he had labored over for some time.
“I swear to you, monsieur, this one is in fashion this season. Your lady friend will be the toast of the event with this hemline and cold shoulder. Like a goddess.” Charles pushed the sketch to le Comte hopefully.
Leo snagged it, studying the lines of the gown. “It’s actually not bad,” he admitted. “But perhaps some adjustment - she’s delicate. This much fabric will drown her.”
The clothier sniffed. “I don’t know why you asked me to offer anything. I am the premier couturiere in Paris and you hate all my designs.”
“I don’t hate ‘em,” Leo awkwardly patted the offended man’s shoulder. “I just know her better than you.” This seemed to mollify Charles a bit and he bent forward to see what changes were being suggested.
“I rather like this one,” Comte pushed one of Leo’s designs in front of the two men. “You could adopt the cold shoulder Charles loves and the lower hem - yes? And the other gown - “ he pointed to the sketch Leo was re-working, “We could order that in a deep carmine. For some other occasion, of course.”
Charles was nodding at this. “Yes, I like that idea. Two dresses for the lucky lady. A girl can never have too much finery.”
Comte gave a wry laugh. “You are not wrong, friend.”
It took a bit longer to wrangle the embroidery and other finishings for both gowns. Leonardo’s selections were more subdued than le Comte, but then, they’d always had different tastes. Leo was still looking over the last bits when le Comte finished and stepped out for some air.
“You know, monsieur,” Charles said, his voice pitched for Leo’s ear only. “You have an eye for design. A bit rough and in need of my guidance but still. If you are ever looking for work, my team would be happy to bring you on.”
Leonardo couldn’t hold in a laugh, which earned him an offended look from the clothier. “Ah Charles, I don’t mean to make light of your offer. I’m just no clothing designer. This is my one time effort for a girl I - a girl that’s special to me.”
Charles nodded after a moment. “I see, monsieur. Nevertheless, you have an eye. My offer stands.”
“I appreciate the compliment.” Leonardo shook the clothier’s hand. “I’ll be back in a few days to check on progress.”
Comte met Leo out front. He wore the most insufferable smug smile. “So. That was fun. Want to come with me to pick out the jewelry?”
“I’d better or you’ll have her dressed in nothing but rubies and diamonds,” Leonardo replied.
“There are worse outcomes,” Comte said speculatively. “I for one, would not mind seeing her in nothing but jewelry . . .”
Leo shot him a hot glare.
Comte just laughed.
Next: Not Alone
**sidenote** Charles Frederick Worth was a real person, and considered the father of modern day haute couture. I just imagine Comte would be one of his special clients, entitled to a private session with the famous designer.**

Sunbeams came streaming into the younger van Gogh’s room. The man groaned as he rolled over to shield his eyes from the morning sunlight illuminating the room. He let out a tired groan as his eyes cracked open to see a scrap of paper containing a neatly written note laying wait on his bedside table.
Sitting up slightly, he reached over and squinted his eyes, trying his best to quickly scan over the contents of the page through blurred vision. He let out a tired scoff as he crumpled up the paper and let it fall to the floor.
He laid back down, and he rubbed his temples letting go of yet another irritated scoff, as memories of his previous night out, had come flooding back to him.
He and Arthur were out together, to their usual pub, drinking and venting about the events that had unfolded throughout the day. All was going well when suddenly Arthur decided to be a little shit and propose a bet. He wore a mischievous grin as he declared for all to hear, “whomever passes out first, loses and has to do whatever the winner says for an entire day.”
Theo eyed Arthur with caution as he contemplated his odds at beating the mystery author. The last thing the man needed was to lose a bet to the flirt. Not even to mention the fact that he has been so busy with work recently, that he hasn’t even spent any time with his dearest pet.
Shooting Arthur a devilish smirk, he confidently spoke up, “you have yourself a deal, you four-eyed pervert.”
The night progressed, and the drinks flowed between the two friends, however, little did Theo know that Arthur had a rather naughty trick up his sleeve to ensure success. Arthur had never lost a bet in his life, and he most definitely wasn’t planning on giving up his winning streak now.
Theodorus sat up in his bed and groaned as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. He looked over to see his dearest companion peacefully sleeping at the foot of his bed. His expression softened upon seeing the cute way the retriever’s legs twitched as he slept. Reaching over, he gave the pup a clumsy pat, all while wearing a tender smile. “Looks like you will have to help me make good on a deal, King.”
Upon hearing his name roll off the tongue of his beloved owner, King shot up and tacked Theo back down onto the bed, showing his face with loving kisses. It was in these rare moments that Theo truly allowed his tough exterior to melt away and reveal his true self. He laughed as he pushed the retriever’s face away from his own, trying to catch his breath. King nuzzled his nose into the palm of Theo’s hand, trying to push past and shower his face with even more kissing licks.
Suddenly the retriever’s attention was stolen by the slither of crumpled paper laying on the bedroom floor. With lightning speed, he hopped off of the bed and started playfully attacking the piece of paper, tearing it up, to make a scattered mess. Theo couldn’t help but affectionately smile down at King as he pulled his finger through his hair, contemplating just how the lightweight shit bag friend of his, might have been able to out drink him.
He clenched his jaw and rolled his eyes as he finally got up to prepare for his fate, as loser of the wager. “Curse that rotten good for nothing thot for scamming me.”
After a long drawn out sigh, Theo slithered onto the floor and reached over to the trunk situated beside his desk, to pull out a soft-bristled brush. The second the playful pup spotted his favourite red brush he was sprawled across Theo’s lap, belly exposed, ready for some attention, “You really are an attention whore, aren’t you.”
King's tail happily swished back and forth as Theo bushed his soft golden fur and showered the lovable creature with attention. Despite not having spent much time with his dear companion, he made a point of it, to at least brush the retrievers silky fur once a day in the mornings. Knowing from experience that the pup would seek attention otherwise from the man, in far more destructive ways. Something his chewed-up leather shoes could attest to.
Theo walked along the Boulevard with King excitingly strutting beside him. King’s long, fluffy tail swished in the air as he excitedly looked around the new environment. Soon the pup’s tail started wagging profusely as they neared the local dog park. Despite having walked around half of Paris with King, it was the first time the pair had visited this particular dog park.
Catching the whiff and sight, of all the new interesting sights and smells in the unknown environment, the retriever’s excitement only grew tenfold. At this point, the pup was so ecstatic to play with the other animals, that he was practically walking Theo instead of the other way around.
King pulled at his owner to quicken his pace, “oi King, slow down, you are going to pull my arm from it’s socket.” The pup never relented once, continuing to push forward with Theo in tow.
Once inside the park, Theo leaned down to release the leash and allow King to run free and expend all his energy. “Try not to cause too much mischief today, buddy.” He ruffled the pup’s fur as he unclasped the leash. The second King was freed, he leapt into the air running off to some unknown direction
Theo could only scoff at his pet’s impatience, although, after watching his beloved companion for a few moments, he couldn’t help but let go of a hearty chuckle. The sight of the retriever bouncing around the park exploring its every corner was simply too cute.
Soon the slight smile that was resting on Theo’s face morphed into his set point scowl, as he spotted the woman he was supposed to meet, on this blind date.
Cursing Arthur once more under his breath, he approached the woman. Out of all the things to be asked of the man for losing the bet, this was by far the worst.
As he neared the woman to introduce himself, King came sprinting back to Theodorus, to show him a cool new stick he had found.
The retriever ran at full speed bounding into the air to slam straight into Theo’s back, causing the man to fall forward. There was no way to stop gravity once in motion, and Theo found himself tumbling straight into the woman’s arms, sending the pair of them falling back onto the soft grass.
Theo stared down at the woman mortified, while his beloved companion decided to ease his master’s anger by showering both his owner’s- and the face of the new stranger with small kisses. Theo narrowed his eyes at the dog, who playfully nipped and licked at the poor woman’s face, while letting go of a little whine in apology.
Before Theo could scold the impertinent pooch, both his and King’s attention was suddenly stolen by the woman trapped beneath the young art dealer.
She seemed to be in a fit of laughter at the whole experience, trying her best to free herself from King’s loving face kisses.
Thankful for the distraction King bounded off into a new direction while Theo was left blushing from the embarrassment. He clumsily got up and muttered a slight apology as he offered the woman a hand.
She smiled a bright sunny smile and shrugged as she continued to chuckle nervously. She gestured for the two of them to sit down on a nearby park bench to which Theo simply nodded, as he tried his best to regain composure.
He was surprised at the spunk of the woman who sat beside him, chatting away without a care in the world. He had tried his best to deter her with his sharp tongue and scowling attitude. Yet she continued to smile and engage with him, meeting his savage words and comments with a charming wit of her own.
By the time the sun had started set, Theo was almost sad to leave the company of this mysterious woman. He leisurely walked beside the her as they decided to do one more slow lap around the park together, before saying their goodbyes.
Suddenly the woman breathed an “oh no” and used Theo as a human shield, upon spotting two excited pups sprinting their way towards the two owners at full speed. Without warning, the Retriever and Labrador duo shook out their sopping wet fur right beside the owners to shower them in an inevitable rain of muddy pond water.
The pair burst into laughter, as both of them were now soaked to the bone, and left to smell like wet dog and dirty river water.
After parting ways with the woman and her pet, Theo couldn’t keep that shit-eating grin off his face. Even King was wearing a broad smile of his own, having finally met a pup who could keep up with his high energy curiosity.
“What do you say bud, should we meet up with those two again sometime?” Seemingly as if understanding his master’s words, King’s tail whipped through the air as he let out an excited bark in response. “Oké dan staat het vast.”
Since then, whenever Theo and King would visit the dog park, they would each in their own way, excitingly approach the gates in anticipation of the fun day that lays ahead.

Note
it doesn't have to be long or super elaborate but maybe a drabble with Little Cato seeing how stressful and tiring the idea of fatherhood is to Gary, how scared he is to screw up and comforting him? Bonus points for Gary opening about his childhood to Cato a bit.
minnie I think we both knew that I was never just gonna write a drabble for this. honestly I think I’m incapable of writing anything less than 1500 words. but this prompt? killed me. I love it!!!
Little Cato and Gary rush behind a group of barrels, gun fire following closely after. Little Cato pants, his fingers tightening around his gun as Gary takes his larger gun off of the strap on his back.
"This isn't good, at all," Gary says frantically.
Little Cato nods in agreement, peeking a look around the barrel behind him to see the enemy growing closer and closer. He glances at the man next to him who's focus is flitting around the warehouse room, probably looking for any close exits.
They really need a good plan.
The Ventrexian notices a clear and hidden path that would lead him right behind the men advancing on them. Okay, so he has a plan now.
"I'm gonna sneak behind and distract them, cover me," Little Cato says, immediately running off to enact his plan.
He barely even registers Gary's panicked, "Little Cato, don't you dare," as he launches himself over a crate and lands without a sound behind the men.
"Hey!" the kid yells, instantly drawing attention to himself. He takes this opportunity to shoot at two of the guys, and he's about to get another when he suddenly sees a dark shadow fall over him, then—
Snap!
Little Cato screams in agony, tears bursting from his eyes as searing hot and sharp pain courses through his arm. A large and strong hand squeezes his broken arm, and he cries out again as he's lifted off of the ground. He hears and feels something crunch, so he can barely register Gary's distant yelling from the white noise filling his ears.
He forces his eyes open, his vision blurry from his tears, to see Gary standing tall, his blaster at the ready in front of him. Words are being said, but Little Cato can't tell by who because of the pure agony he's in from so much pressure being put on his very broken arm.
Little Cato tries to take in deep breaths, but all he can do is pant. And then all of a sudden someone shouts, shots are fired, and the grip holding him up disappears, sending him hard onto the cement ground. He curls around his arm, more tears slipping down his face.
"Little Cato! Hey, buddy, what hurts?" Gary demands, frantic yet gentle all in one.
"Arm," he whimpers.
Gary curses under his breath and cards a hand through Little Cato's hair. "It's gonna be okay, bud. Just hold on. Nightfall, we need...."
Little Cato feels Gary wipe away a few of his tears as everything fades away, and then he passes out.
----
Gary's angry. Little Cato notices it within seconds of getting out of the medpod. Actually, cross out mad; pissed is more like it. He's just standing there, his arms crossed as Nightfall puts his arm into a splint so that it can continue to heal properly.
She can sense the tension between them, but once she finishes with his injuries, she leaves the room. So he won't get any help from her in stopping Gary from yelling at him. Great.
His dad isn't wearing his leather jacket, his hair is even more disheveled than usual, and he just looks tired. But more importantly pissed, which is not going to go well for Little Cato.
"How are you feeling?" Gary asks, stepping away from the counter he had been leaning on.
"Better," the kid responds. "The advanced healing and painkillers probably help, too."
Gary nods, and the silence that follows is very awkward, for the both of them. Little Cato decides to break it.
"I know what you're gonna say."
The blond raises an eyebrow. "And it is...?"
"That I shouldn't have done that."
"Yeah, you're right," Gary huffs. "But you don't believe that, do you?"
"It was a good plan," he mumbles.
"No, it wasn't! Why would you do something so stupid and reckless? You could have gotten killed!" Gary yells, throwing his arms out in exasperation.
"I had it under control!" Little Cato defends, his tail bristling.
Gary rubs his hands down his face. "Oh, so you meant to break your arm? They would've killed you if you couldn't be used as leverage against me."
Little Cato doesn't have a response to that, so he just holds his splinted arm against his stomach and stays quiet. His dad is obviously waiting for him to say something, but after a few moments of silence, he sighs.
"You're grounded. Go get some rest," Gary says, some anger still left in his voice.
Little Cato splutters, "But I–!"
Gary sends him a stern look. "I'm not arguing about this, bud. Go get rest so your arm can heal."
Little Cato hops down from the exam table with a huff and stalks past Gary, straight to his room. He slams his door shut, sliding down it until he's seated in an angry ball in the floor. Okay, yeah he got injured, but it's okay! He's still alive and kicking, just like he should be. And it was a good plan, even if it backfired.
The kid sits there angrily for at least a few hours, wondering why grounding was really necessary, until someone knocks on his door. He stands and opens it, thankfully seeing Nightfall instead of Gary.
"Um, hey," Little Cato says.
"He's upset, you know." Damn, Nightfall did not waste any time in getting to the point.
The boy shrugs. "Well, he's the one who grounded me and got mad," he mutters.
"You think he's mad? He's worried about you, Little Cato. He's been pacing the bridge this whole time. He won't let anyone in there," Nightfall says.
"He's worried? But my arm is healing." Little Cato is so confused right now.
Nightfall sighs deeply. "He thinks that he isn't raising you right. He blames himself for you getting hurt."
"Oh."
She hums. "Yeah. Oh."
Now that Little Cato is looking back on it, what he thought was anger was just very intense worry. And Gary looked so tired and worn out.... Oh shit, he messed up.
"Oh noooo," Little Cato moans, covering his face with his unbroken arm. "I'm an idiot."
Nightfall pats him on the back. "You're not an idiot, you both are just new to this."
"I'm gonna go apologize," he says.
Little Cato immediately runs towards the bridge as fast as he can without jostling his arm too much, slipping around corners in his haste to make things right. He can see the doorway just ahead, so he sprints faster and then abruptly stops in the middle of the entryway.
His dad is sitting in the pilot's chair, hunched over, his head in his hands. Little Cato can't see his face, but he knows that Gary is absolutely miserable right now. Oh, he really messed up this time.
The kid quietly approaches Gary, but stops next to him. Cautiously, he places his good hand on the man's shoulder, which causes his dad to lift his head and panic when he sees who it is.
"Spidercat, hey," Gary says nervously. "What are you doing?"
Little Cato frowns when he sees how Gary's eyes are red, the dark circles under them just making it even worse.
"Scoot over," he demands.
Gary gives him a confused look but moves over anyways. The kid squeezes himself into the small spot, and it's more than a tight fit. But he doesn't care because that's not important right now, but it does make wrapping his one good arm around his dad in a hug much easier.
The man stiffens at the contact, but Little Cato came here with a plan and will not stray from it. "I'm sorry about earlier, Gary."
"It's, uh, it's okay."
"No, I was being a butt. You were just worried about me," he urges.
Gary sighs. "Nightfall talked to you, didn't she?"
The kid nods.
"I'm fine, don't worry about what she said," Gary says enthusiastically, but now that Little Cato knows him better, he can tell it's a lie from how his smile doesn't reach his eyes. Also, even more telling than that, is how he still hasn't hugged Little Cato back.
"I don't know what's banging around in your head, but you're doing a good job. Like, dad-wise. Well, at least I think so, and I think I've got some authority to give my opinion on that," Little Cato encourages nervously.
He smiles up at Gary, who has an unreadable expression on his face. Little Cato wonders what it is until Gary just lets out a stuttering sigh and rubs at his face, his hands shaking slightly.
Oh, he's concerned now. "Are you okay?
"Oh, geez," Gary says as he pinches his eyes. "I'm just overwhelmed lately, kiddo. God, you are the last person I should be talking to about this."
Gary laughs sardonically as he tries to recollect himself. Little Cato just sits and waits for him to speak because if Gary is gonna be there for him, he has to do the same.
"After my dad died, I had no one. It was just us my entire life, and I didn't even meet my mom until the funeral. I was too young to be looking out for parenting tips, so I have no idea what I'm doing. And today? You really could've gotten hurt worse than you did, and that would have all been on me. I don't want my mistakes to hurt you.
"I've messed up everything in my life so far, and I can't let you be the next thing."
Gary makes eye contact with Little Cato, and the kid can see every single worry he has bottled up on the verge of bursting out.
"I don't care if you've messed up before, I think all you can do is try your best," Little Cato reasons.
The blond sighs. "That's the thing. I have to be better than my best for this, and I'm doing a horrible job."
"I mean, I think you're pretty great, Dad," he says, passionately quiet. He feels Gary shudder from where he's holding him, and two arms wrap him up in a tight hug. Gary buries his face into the top of his head, allowing Little Cato to feel some tears fall. So he hugs harder.
"If you're gonna be too busy taking care of everyone else to take care of yourself, I'm just gonna have to do it for you," the kid promises.
His dad laughs wetly, smiling at Little Cato's smug expression. "Oh yeah? Thank you, my dear old dad," Gary jokes.
Little Cato nods seriously. "You're welcome, my son."
They both laugh, and Gary takes this opportunity to wipe away his tears. Gary nestles his hand on top of his boy's head as they both turn their attention towards the endless space before them. They don't know what's going to happen in the future, but Little Cato knows that Gary will realize how great of a dad he is soon.
"You're still grounded, by the way."
"Yeah. That's fair."

Running Epilogue
Colt x MC
Previous Part: Part 3
Bonus: Interlude,  Ficta
Author’s Note: A short epilogue to Running! AKA my big chance to write Colt as a daddy.
Word Count: ~1500
Tumblr media
“CT, come here.” Colt beckons, standing at the fence behind the dugout.
Colt Teppei Kaneko tries to ignore his father, drawing patterns in the dirt with his bat. Colt is left looking at the ‘Kaneko 3’ emblazoned on the back of his son’s red jersey as he refuses to turn around.
Colt’s jaw clenches, not appreciating being ignored. If this is what CT is like at only 7 (although he’s almost 8), he can only imagine the attitude he’s going to give him as a teenager. “Colt Teppei Kaneko, come here.” Colt repeats.
CT reluctantly stands, the use of his full name letting him know that his dad means business. He leaves his teammates to approach the fence. “What Dad? I’m up to bat soon, so make it quick.” He demands with the slight southern drawl that he’s picked up from his classmates.
Colt quirks a brow at the attitude in the statement, so CT amends his response. “I meant, what did you want to talk about?” After a few moments, he adds “Sir?” for good measure.
“Don’t be afraid of the ball. You’ve got this. Do it just like we practiced, okay?” Colt coaches.
CT nods. “Got it. Can I go now?”
Colt frowns but nods anyway. CT runs back to his teammates, joining them on the dugout bench as he awaits his turn at bat.
Colt returns to the spectator stands, taking a seat beside his wife and toddler daughter. Ellie adjusts Bailey in her lap, scooting over a little to give Colt more room on the bleachers. Bailey claps excitedly as her big brother heads up to home base to bat. “Go CT!!!” She cheers adorably, in that way only an adorable almost-3-year-old can.
The first pitch is thrown, and CT doesn’t swing. “Strike one!” The umpire calls.
Colt’s jaw clenches. He should have swung at that one. The pitcher throws again, and it’s clearly a ball but CT swings anyway, getting his second strike.
“Unbelievable.” Colt mutters under his breath, and Ellie gives him a dark look.
“This is supposed to be fun for him Colt.” Ellie admonishes.
The pitcher throws again, a perfect pitch. CT swings early, and the ball soars past him into the catcher’s mitt. “Strike three! You’re out!” The umpire calls, a little too joyfully for Colt’s taste.
“All those hours at the batting cages, and in the backyard, wasted.” Colt mutters, slouching in the bleachers as CT heads back to the dugout, looking dejected.
“It’s just a game.” Ellie reminds him.
“But I know he’s better than that. He’s great at home. He has stage fright or something. That’s a serious issue we need to nip in the bud before it follows him his whole life.” Colt explains his irritation. “CT!” He yells out, “Get out of your head!”
CT flushes, looking embarrassed as he continues to the dugout.
“You’re so embarrassing.” Ellie insults, but there’s fondness in her tone.
“You’re one to talk. You practically fought that mom at Bailey’s tap recital.” Colt retorts.
“She was a bit-“ Ellie cuts herself off, remembering that her toddler soaks up curse words like a sponge. “B-I-T-C-H” She spells out.
“Who’s a bitch? Hope you’re not talking about me!” Raya, Colt’s mother, announces as she approaches the family.
“Bitch bitch bitch.” Bailey predictably parrots. Ellie shoots a somewhat annoyed gaze at her mother-in-law, but Raya doesn’t notice as she gets situated.
“Hey ma.” Colt greets, letting his mom plant a kiss to his cheek as she squeezes between him and Ellie.
Raya plants a kiss to Bailey’s dark hair, and then gives Ellie a one-armed hug. “How’s he doing?” She gestures to CT with a tilt of her head as she searches through her bag for snacks.
“Just struck out.” Colt reveals, taking the cold water his mom offers him. It’s another hot day in North Carolina, and although they’re in the shade there’s no escaping the humidity. He always misses LA in the summer.
“Coltie baby, it’s okay! You’ll get them next time sugarplum!” Raya yells out.
CT grimaces as his teammates chuckle. “God Grandma, don’t call me sugarplum in public!” He bites back.
Raya gives CT an apologetic look, making a motion to zip her lips. “I guess I’m embarrassing now. I thought I had a few more years until my grandbaby got too big for nicknames.”
“CT is 7 going on 17.” Ellie jokes, resting a reassuring hand on Raya’s knee.
“Well, give me my baby. You’re not embarrassed by me, are you sweetie?” Raya asks, taking Bailey from Ellie and pulling her into a hug.
“I’m not a baby gramma. I’m going to be this big!” Bailey exclaims, raising three fingers when she pulls away.
Raya smiles fondly. “My my, what a big girl!” She praises, handing Bailey a popsicle from her bag. She turns to Colt. “What are the plans for the b-i-r-t-h-d-a-y  p-a-r-t-y tomorrow?” She asks.
Colt rolls his eyes. “It’s not a surprise party mom. Bay knows she’s having a party tomorrow. It starts at noon at Chuck-E-Cheese. Try not to be late like usual.”
“I’m fashionably late.” Raya insists, turning her attention back to the game as CT’s team gets their third out and switches to the outfield.
CT catches the first hit by the other team, throwing it to first base in time to get the other player out.
“Great catch CT!” Colt calls out, beaming with pride. CT grins back before exchanging high fives with the first baseman. Colt’s phone starts to vibrate in the pocket of his basketball shorts. He checks the caller ID and sees it’s his property manager.
“Hey Jim, what’s up?” Colt answers. He listens to Jim’s concerns about the new trailer park Colt has just acquired. They’re major money makers, with the land rent he gets to collect. “That’s not the price he quoted last week.” Colt complains, attention still half focused on the baseball game. Jim continues, but Colt gently cuts him off. “Jim, I’m at my son’s baseball game. I’ll call you back in an hour. Yeah, okay, thanks.” Colt ends the call.
Ellie looks at him curiously. “Problem?” She asks. Ellie got her real estate license while pregnant with Bailey, and now sells houses. Her contacts come in very handy in Colt’s line of work.
“It’s nothing.” Colt assures.
“Bailey, you’re getting popsicle all over my skirt.” Raya complains, handing Colt his now sticky daughter, melting popsicle getting everywhere.
“I could have told you not to give her that.” Colt informs his mother, pulling a packet of wet wipes from his pocket. He takes the mostly finished popsicle from Bailey, popping the rest of it into his own mouth before tossing the stick into the trash. He cleans off Bailey’s sticky hands, and wipes at her face despite her squirming.
Raya heads off to the bathroom to try to get the stains out of her clothes.
Colt uses the wet wipe on the ends of Bailey’s hair, where she’s somehow managed to get popsicle. He pulls a hair tie from his wrist (ever since his daughter’s hair started getting long, he’s found that he always has a hair tie around somewhere) and gathers Bailey’s dark hair into a messy bun.
Bailey reaches into her grandmother’s bag, looking for more snacks. She triumphantly pulls out some animal crackers.
CT’s team gets a third player out, and heads back to the dugout for their turn at bat.
Colt starts to hand Bailey to Ellie. “And where do you think you’re going?” Ellie asks, not reaching out to take Bailey.
“He’s getting another pep talk.” Colt informs her.
“He doesn’t want one.” Ellie insists.
“Well, he’s getting one anyway.”
Ellie rolls her eyes but doesn’t try to stop him. “Take your daughter, I think you’ll be better behaved with her there.” Ellie demands.
Colt places Bailey on his shoulders, and she grasps at his hair with one hand. Good thing her hands are no longer sticky. “No crumbs in my hair this time, okay Bay?”
“Otay Daddy.” Bailey promises.
Colt smiles fondly, resting his hands on his daughter’s legs to steady her. “Otay.” He parrots.
Colt approaches the chain link fence behind the dugout once again. “CT.” He calls, and this time his son comes without further prompting. “Great job in the outfield. Carry that momentum with you to the plate. You’re beating yourself out there, you just need to be confident.” Colt assures him.
“Go CT!” Bailey adds, continuing to munch on the last few animal crackers in the packet.
“Bailey is getting crumbs in your hair.” CT informs his father.
“Of course she is.” Colt acknowledges, quickly returning to the task at hand. “Play your best. I know you can do it.”
“I’ll try.” CT promises.
“That’s all I ask of you.” Colt responds, giving his son a fond smile before heading back to the bleachers.
Bailey finishes the animal crackers and starts to pick the crumbs out of her father’s hair, eating those as well.
“Bailey Grace Kaneko!” Colt admonishes. “You are not a monkey, don’t eat crumbs out of my hair!”
Bailey laughs and starts making monkey noises as she continues to do as she pleases, munching on the crumbs. Colt takes her off his shoulders when they reach Ellie, handing the toddler over to her mother.
“Your daughter is out of control.” Colt tells her.
“When she’s being bad, she’s your daughter.” Ellie retorts before placing a kiss to Colt’s lips.

Archaeologists have struggled to explain the rapid rise and fall of Cahokia—the mysterious Mississippian mound-building culture that sprang up about a thousand years ago in the fertile southern Illinois bottom lands just across the river from modern-day St. Louis.
Scholars have painted the civilization as a hierarchical, highly centralized society where ruling elites demanded tribute from lowly peasant farmers who toiled in a culture spiritually obsessed with and highly dependent upon the cultivation of corn.
While there's little doubt that farming was the civilization's lifeblood, a new book by a paleoethnobiologist at Washington University in St. Louis offers a compelling case for a much different understanding of the Cahokian culture.
The book also offers a road map for the rediscovery and possible recultivation of an array of highly nutritious wild food sources, including a North American cousin of quinoa, that were once a staple part of the early American diet.
"The real story of Cahokia is about much more than maize and decisions made by a small group of elites," said Gayle Fritz, professor emerita of anthropology in Arts & Sciences and author of "Feeding Cahokia: Early Agriculture in the North American Homeland" (2019 University of Alabama Press).
"It's clear that the vast majority of Cahokia's farmers were women and it's likely that their critical knowledge of domesticated crops and wild food plants would have earned them positions of power and respect at every level of the society," she said.

Cahokia's rise and fall
Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Cahokia Mounds complex was the site of North America's largest and most populous city prior to European exploration.
Reaching its apex in the early years of the first millennium (1050 to 1200 A.D.), the city and immediately surrounding region boasted a population in the tens of thousands and exerted influence over other native settlements scattered across a wide swath of the American Midwest.
Then, for yet unexplained reasons, the civilization began to fade. By 1300 A.D., populations living in and near the Cahokia city center were plummeting. By the early 1500s, when European explorers first visited southeastern North America, the great city of Cahokia lay abandoned.
Some scholars suggest the demise was due to periods of heavy flooding or severe drought, or even a massive earthquake, and the impact these calamities may have had on an agricultural system that had grown increasingly dependent on maize.

Fritz is not convinced
She questions the evidence for these disasters at Cahokia, as well as the notion that such severe weather events could have crippled the city's ability to feed itself. Her research shows that the city's food production network was extremely well diversified, stable, sophisticated and situated in some of the world's most fertile farmland. While natural disasters may have sparked de-stabilizing social or religious unrest, the women who controlled the society's farming complex were more than capable of weathering severe climatic disturbances, she argues.
Fritz documents early uses of what may have been America's first domesticated crop, a strain of bottle gourd that first floated to these shores—genetic evidence suggests—from Africa. She explores the origins of other early food crops, such as a native squash, sunflower, erect knotweed and chenopod, which were domesticated in the midcontinent and grown by generations of farmers before, during and after Cahokia's heyday.
Cultivating nature's bounty
Fritz details how these and other ancient food sources were gradually incorporated into field cultivation systems, with some eventually showing signs of genetic changes related to domestication. She backs up her assertions with clear overviews of the best available archaeological evidence, including her own early work on ancient stashes of native seeds in protected bluff shelters of the Ozark Plateau.
She also explains how early Americans learned to maximize harvests of wild nut crops, such as hickory and acorns, by giving the best mast-producing trees a competitive edge—girdling inferior trees and routinely burning off underbrush to gradually create stands that European explorers later described as "nut orchards."

As her book makes clear, the evolving consensus on Cahokia's food culture is a function of rapidly improving scientific techniques and field work practices that are unlocking evidence often overlooked in earlier archaeological investigations.
Science still unlocking Cahokia's secrets
Recent studies have employed isotopic analysis of human bones from Cahokia to show that a surprisingly large percentage (perhaps 20-30 percent) of the residents arrived there from other locations in eastern North America.
A key breakthrough, she argues, is the now routine use of water flotation techniques to separate seeds and other organic particles from excavation dirt, allowing these fragments to be identified and further analyzed in the laboratory.
Early proponents of flotation studies, such as Patty Jo Watson of Washington University, used the technique to study samples collected along the Green River in Kentucky near the Salts and Mammoth caves. Their research showed that American hunter gatherers began adding cultivated crops to their diets as early as 2,500 B.C., resulting in heavy reliance on plants such as sunflower, marshelder, chenopod, erect knotweed and maygrass.

Seeing the cornucopia beyond the corn
In the past, researchers may have underestimated the importance of small grains in the diets of ancient civilizations because researchers sifted excavation dirt through larger screening devices designed to uncover pottery sherds, tool pieces and other larger-scale artifacts.
Traces of corn, with its large kernels and cobs, were easier to document than tiny wild grains the size of quinoa.
Dozens of large archaeological projects at Cahokia and surrounding sites have generated flotation-derived data showing that the native seed crops were produced in copious quantities during the centuries before and after Cahokia's rapid rise.
"The most unexpected finding was that pre-maize crops did not decline after corn was embraced at A.D. 900. Instead, all available crops—old and new—increased in abundance, giving urban Cahokia a biologically diverse food base, quite different from the corn-dominated cuisine sometimes described," Fritz said.

Cahokia's women found power in the fields
But larger artifacts also figure into Fritz' theories about the role of women in Cahokian society. She builds her case for a farming system dominated by women and their daughters in part on a reassessment of small, flint-clay ceramic statues of women that have been unearthed at Cahokia and other Mississippian sites.
The figurines, which other researchers have described as corn goddesses, often depict an older woman kneeling with outstretched arms. The statues are embellished with intricately carved snakes, plant stalks and vines, and flower heads that some scholars have been quick to characterize as symbols of corn and fertility. Moreover, the statues have been interpreted as serving the goals of an elite-controlled priestly cult.
Fritz argues that many of the carvings more accurately represent sunflower seed heads and squashes, and that the tendency for other scholars to see corn is a function of zeacentric bias—an exaggerated fixation on the culture's perceived ideological elevation of maize.
Her explanation draws heavily on the work of Carol Diaz-Granados, a research associate at Washington University, and other scholars who have studied the imagery behind Native American art and rock drawings. This context suggests the Cahokia figurines represent a character known as "the old woman who never dies" or "grandmother" who is central to the beliefs of modern Siouan speaking tribes, such as the Mandan and the Hidatsa.
Women in these tribes who belonged to organizations called "Goose Societies" played a dominant roles in tribal farming and spiritual life, with younger women moving up through the ranks by virtue of their industriousness and the skills manifested by themselves and their kin groups in the farm fields.
"Long before corns, beans and squash became such a staple part of Native American diets across the midcontinent, it's likely that the women farmers of Cahokia were appealing to a similar Earth Mother to guide their cultivation and harvest of native grains, such as maygrass, sunflower and chenopods," Fritz said. "This alternative scenario situates the women—the farmers themselves—as key players rather than placing them under the control of an elite-centered priesthood."

Overview
With regards to LED grow lights, you take a gander at 3 things: light infiltration, range, and inclusion at the correct tallness. The King Plus 1500W LED Grow Light is most likely best appropriate for grow rooms or grow tents under 4.5′ x 4.5′. What isolates it from other lower-valued LED Grow Lights is the way that it utilizes 10 watt chips, which take into consideration a more splendid, increasingly proficient light when it comes down to the overhang and the gather – more entrance, more buds.
Burrowing somewhat more profound, these lights are in excess of a moderate value extend. Thinking about the splendor and the cost of this unit, we trust that this one is an easy decision.
Still not persuaded? All things considered, keep perusing. The following is a definite examination of this astonishing LED grow light.
A total examination of the King Plus 1500W Double Chips LED Grow Light
In the course of recent years, the LED grow light innovation has been jumping like crazy. An incredible case of the innovation jumping forward is an astounding King Plus 1500W Double Chips LED Grow Light.
An astounding 10W twofold chip LEDs can yield up to 1500 watts of vitality towards your plant. The 10W chips are really made of 2 5W chips spread out in a matrix design. These are twice as brilliant as should be expected LEDs.
The twofold chip LEDs give a uniform light and PAR estimation of 660 legitimately underneath the unit. The future of the unit is 50,000 hours and it has a "Zender defender" that ensures the unit will keep on working regardless of whether a portion of the LEDs bite the dust.
A standout amongst the best things about LED grow boards is the manner in which they can work with different light ranges without a moment's delay. This is cultivated by embeddings various toned LEDs and furthermore IR and UV contributes with the a general blend of installed LEDs.
Full range LED grow lights are laid out especially to make the right wavelengths of light that are used by your cannabis plants. The grow light releases a purplish shading as a result of the various toned chips that are being used in the meantime.
The correct light range contains a blend of red, blue, yellow and white lights. Over those tints, infrared and bright are in like manner included. All of these reaches together has up the effects of summer day daylight.
Inclusion and Light Height
This King Plus LED Grow Light has strong inclusion in the veg phase of generally 5′ x 5′. When you change to blooming, I would not surpass a 4.5′ x 4.5′ grow zone. This effectively gives light to up to 10 plants. I figure you could bloom effectively up to 5×5 on the off chance that you raised the light a couple of inches.
Suspending the King Plus Double Chip LED Grow Light is easy to do. With the included free hanging catches, you can relate each clasp to the metal eyelets arranged on the top side of the board.
Transforming them is basic since they secure into position and can be gone up or down effectively. Regardless, comprehending the stature that you need to suspend the board over your plant's covering can take a bit of experimentation.

Cooling
This is the place I feel there can be some improvement. In addition to the fact that it appeared that each fan was turning at an alternate speed, yet after just 17-18 days into veg, one fan started to make clamor and fizzled a couple of days after the fact. Fortunately, these LEDs do run genuinely cool, anyway they need cooling for inside segments which worried me a bit. Having an ordinary oscilating fan in the tent dealt with any extra warmth that could have been problematic, however the rest of the 2 fans carried out the responsibility and kept the light cool enough to overcome the whole cycle.
Wrapping Up
With a future of 50,000 hours, the King Plus 1500W Double Chips LED Grow Light is made to keep going for some seasons. The 10W twofold chip LEDs are incredible and outfitted with zender defenders. The majority of this reveals to us that a ton of diligent work has been put into these.
The unit is exceptionally proficient and the quality is more than great and shockingly, the cost is very low.
The organization is very certain about the quality as well. They offer an astonishing 3-year guarantee to ensure an enduring proficiency of their item. We likewise need to make reference to that their client administration is astounding. Very responsive – they answer to messages inside the following 24 hours.
By and large, we are satisfied with this unit and we would prescribe it to both fledgling and expert indoor producers.
