3rd Person POV
October 31st, 1980
The wait in the hospital was complete agony. Remus sat in an uncomfortable hospital waiting room chair. The only position that feels remotely comfortable is resting my head on my hands. His mind races faster and faster, watching his husband, Sirius, pace back and forth in front of him. James sits silently in the chair to the right of Remus. He’s trying his best to calm the pair down, but his words fall on deaf ears in Sirius and Remus’s overanalyzing ones.
“Mates, you both need to calm down. Everything will be just fine.”
Sirius stops his pacing and stares at James, his eyes wide with lack of sleep. “Calm down? What if something goes wrong? Why is it taking so long in the first place? It’s cause I’m stubborn, so they’re being stubborn to punish me? Fuck, I knew we should’ve used Remus’s-”
“Siri, stop talking.” Remus’s voice and eyes were stern as he sat back in the chair to get a better look at Sirius. The topic of who was going to donate sperm has been a sensitive one from the moment a surrogate was mentioned. The risk of passing his lycanthropy onto their future children was enough for the werewolf to insist on using Sirius’s for the donor.
All Sirius does is roll his eyes and plop on the seat on the other side of Remus, head falling on Remus’s shoulder out of exhaustion and instinct. Remus’s hand slides into Sirius’s, their fingers intertwining.
“I mean it. Plus, our kids would have your hair and height. That’s a win in my book.” Sirius moves his eyes to look up at Remus, but his head stays stationary.
Remus brought their hands up to his lips and placed a gentle kiss on the back of his husband’s. “It’s a little late for that now, innit?”
The labor has been going on for 48 hours, but the couple’s anxieties have been going on since they found out the implantation was successful. It only intensified as the months went on, now at an all-time high. Both of them refusing to sleep in case the surrogate, Maud, started to push. They both wanted to be ready to run into the room and watch their daughters take their first breaths.
As much as James tried to calm them down and convince them to sleep just for a bit, Remus and Sirius were too stubborn and sleep-deprived to listen. James even called Lily, hoping she would talk sense into them, but with her stuck at home with a one-month-old Harry, her over-the-phone and sleep-deprived threats were far less intimidating.
“Sirius, labor takes time. Lily was in labor for 12 hours. And you have twins, so of course, it’s going to take longer.” James’s voice was empathetic, but this sentence has been said three times already. Every comforting thing James could think of has been said, causing the words to lose meaning to Sirius.
Although Remus was pretending to keep it together, he was a nervous wreck inside. He walked into the hospital as Remus Lupin: Wizard, Werewolf, Husband, but when he leaves, father will be added to that title.
The muggle hospital seemed odd to the three wizards. It was much more controlled and secretive than anything in the wizarding world. The wing they were in was decorated with blue, pink, and yellow, with a quiet lullaby playing every so often, signifying a new baby had been born. Every lullaby that goes off that isn’t to celebrate baby Lupin allows jealousy and anxiety to grow more and more.
“Sirius, Remus,” James takes a deep breath, “I know you don’t want to hear it, but maybe you should go home and get some sle-”
“Sirius and Remus Lupin?” A nurse in pink scrubs walks into the waiting room. Her eyes scan and spot the two men rising from their chairs. She smiles at them and pulls her mask down. “Your surrogate is pushing; we’ll have you wait outside the room until she’s done. Come with me.” She turns around, and then men are quick to follow.
James shouts a quick “Good luck!” but the fathers-to-be don’t even look back to respond.
The two husbands wait outside the delivery suite, their hands intertwined. They waited less than ten minutes, their minds going a million kilometers a second, but none of those thoughts mattered when they heard a faint cry behind the door followed by a quiet lullaby version of “Happy Birthday” playing over the speakers.
Remus’s eyes widen, the weight being lifted off his shoulders. Sirius’s smile widens immediately. It isn’t until they hear a second cry that the couple hug each other. Happy tears flow from Sirius’s eyes while he laughs out of relief. The soft lullaby plays again for the second baby girl, signaling everything is going well in the delivery room.
A soft knock coming from inside the room interrupts their celebration. A nurse in pink scrubs walks into the hallway and smiles at the couple. “Would you like to come in and meet your daughters?”
Sirius kisses Remus’s head as they enter the room. They’re given a bit of hand sanitizer before being given their little girls to hold. The two husbands thanked the surrogate a million times before being taken into a separate room to fill out paperwork as Maud recovered.
The twins were no longer ideas and possibilities; they were real and in their arms.
The two walk out into the waiting room with the babies swaddled in a soft pink blanket and pale yellow hats. Sirius’s tears started again when he saw the mass of people in the waiting room. It was no longer James, but everyone important in their lives was there to support the new parents. Lily was there with Harry, Regulus, Peter, Marlene and Dorcus, Mary, Alice, and Frank, who brought Neville. Even Andromeda showed up.
“Everyone,” Remus’s voice was still a whisper, yet loud enough for the whole crowd to hear. “I am happy to present to you for the first time ever Willow Lily Lupin. Born at 7 lbs and 2 ounces. 1st born by 3 minutes.” He raises his elbow a bit, letting people get a better look at the sleeping baby in his arms.
“And this is Selene Andromeda Lupin, who stands at 7 lbs and 5 ounces.” Sirius continues, smiling at the little bundle in his arms. His gaze couldn’t be broken even if he tried, and he didn’t want to.
Regulus smiled softly before speaking up. “W and S, Wolf and Star, I’m assuming?” His eyes were locked on his big brother, someone he’d seen in this caring and protective role before, but this time it seemed out of love instead of fear. Regulus also wanted to start crying happy tears, but he refused to be in front of a large group.
“I guess it is.” Sirius grinned and looked up at his brother before looking back down at the sleeping baby. “Hell, my Little Star.”
“So Willow is Little Wolf then?” James ran the back of his finger over Willow’s cheek, replicating something he often does to Harry when he sleeps.
“I guess she is.” Remus's smile grows more if that is even possible. “Our little Wolf.”
Sirius turns to his husband beaming. So much love and happiness filled his eyes. “Our girls.”
Remus met Sirius’s gaze with the same love and tenderness. “Our girls.”

He also likely enjoys snuggling up with them and just spending time in each other's company, talking about their day and sharing their secrets. Mammon can also be a bit of a flirt (when he's not on his Tsundere mood), and he might use this time to shower MC with compliments and affection, making them feel special and wanted.(you should also do it for him too. He loves hearing compliments.)

↬|Asmodeus|
When Asmodeus has some free time with MC, he tends to drag them around to various stores for shopping sprees and even more shopping sprees. Asmodeus is very into fashion and likes to make sure the two of them are always looking their best when out doing whatever they do.. which usually involves eating sweet treats together and hanging out. Other than that, you can find him in his bathroom trying to make some new (weird) face-masks for the both of you (and sometimes failing horribly in the process...) ┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Barbatos|
Barbatos, when he had free time with MC, would usually spend it on having a picnic outdoors. He'd hold MC's hands as he walked or as the two of them watched the sunset. Act 1 | Scene 1 - Pick Your Poison
Six regulars and dozens of other patrons were going to be tough to handle, but then you just had to get involved in their lives and wind up the unwilling babysitter of a bunch of surprisingly infuriating products of an inter-dimensional accident. Why bother shutting off the water when the cup was overflowing? It wasn't like you were overworking yourself, anyhow. Oh, wait.
Your bar was your baby. You’d worked damn hard to get the money for the deposit, you’d worked damn hard to refurbish it, you’d worked damn hard to get where you were today. Call it a sin, but you were understandably proud of the place you had grown to cherish.
The Astral. Your new bar. Well, not technically new – considering it was a café before being a bar and a government office before being a café, and it was already the second month of your running of it – but you still liked to call it new. Made it feel more special that way, and the furniture was new. The repainted walls were a deep crimson compared to the scratched beige they used to be, and the tables actually had legs to stand on instead of a propped-up broom handle. Admittedly, when you first visited the place, you were less than eager about your prospects. You should have realized something was wrong with it when the estate agent shoved the keys into your hand and booked it so fast that he left his car behind. Alas, by then, you had made your choice. You’d thrown all of your eggs into one basket, and you were going to have to reap the rewards if you wanted to survive.
The good news was that you had a plan. The bad news was that the plan would set you back $60,000. Your faith in your project was dwindling as fast as your bank account. But it wasn’t as though you could just not pay it – you didn’t have any other choice.
One thing led to another, more bills led to more expenses, and there you were, standing behind the counter of your very own bar, trying hard to not grin too much. You weren’t going to dwell on the past unnecessarily. You didn’t want your switching between smiling and grimacing to freak out the paying customers.
Of which there were nine.
Not that you were complaining. No, this was the best you’d had since you first opened. You would have preferred all of them be conscious, but, again, all your eggs in one basket, and you weren’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Luckily, they were also pretty quiet, letting you get to grips with your role and your atmosphere. The sound level was what you were aiming for. A lot of your money had been spent on painting a pebble yellow and calling it gold, and this speakeasy-esque aesthetic was the product of your labor. Ignoring the few spilled drinks and smoke billowing against the ceiling from one small group, you were happy to say you were getting there.
So, you watched the patrons sip at their drinks and talk, the light chatter interspersed with the gentle hum of music from your jukebox. Something classical fit the bill, and you often found yourself with waltzes and ballads comforting you when you had no other guests. Currently, with nothing else to attend to, you grabbed a semi-dirty glass and assumed the classic bartender stance with a pristine, white cloth. You silently joked to yourself that you hoped this wasn’t going to be the norm. The whole silent bartender schtick could only go so far, even with your black vest and cream shirt, with the attitude you so often towed around. According to your family, at least. Maybe you’d end up being exposition, that sounded better. You just needed to find a suitable small-town rumor to peddle…
A floorboard creaked in front of the door.
Sucker.
A flamboyant sucker, but a sucker, nonetheless.
The newcomer strolled up to the bar and quickly threw himself in one of the seats. Your smirk was getting harder to hide every second as he glanced around.
The only positive to the lack of a reputation, you’d discovered, was that nobody knew the little trick you had up your sleeve. Now, you weren’t a petty criminal looking to pick your patrons’ pockets while they had their backs turned. You were above that. Instead, you preferred a different tactic. Backhanded, but definitely legal, and that was the best kind of backhanded. You didn’t explain it immediately. The guy would find out when he got the bill, which would have an automatic ten percent of the cost added to the total of his drinks.
You loved your human behavior plank.
You forced your thoughts away from your business practices and turned them towards the man – sucker – sitting before you. It was in that moment that you really took in his outfit, his face and his, well, everything else.
It might have been an understatement to call him flamboyant; from head to toe, he was coated in a mass of garish colors that raged against the backdrop of your bar. You’d seen a manner of characters pass through, none of them quite the same, but all on the opposite side of the coin to the multi-colored suspenders and yellow shirt he sported. The moustache topped it all off, whether it was because it was bright pink or because it didn’t match his actual hair color. Either way, you couldn’t say you didn’t like it. Under the maroon lighting that lazily dragged itself over him, he wasn’t half bad to look at.
This sugar-coated prince smiled when you finally met his eyes, though that seemed to be his default reaction. He dropped one elbow onto the counter and placed his head in his hand, the other rhythmically tapping next to it.
“What can I get you, sir?” you began as you set the clean glass amongst the rest of them.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been called sir.” His laugh was strange. Not bad. In fact, it was lighthearted and genuine, if a little dramatic, but it seemed to echo through the bar as if there were no other sound. It ignored the classical music still streaming from the jukebox and the murmurs of the other patrons. As it slowly trailed off into the notes of a piano, he leaned closer. “Call me Wilford.”
You nodded hesitantly; nobody was considered a regular yet, but there were a few people who had been in there already, and you knew none of their names. Even though you had no doubt, Wilford was clearly a unique individual.
You restarted, “What can I get you, Wilford?”
The drumming of his fingers sped up for a second, before he stopped altogether and answered, “What do you think of a vodka martini?”
“I think it’s a good choice.”
Classic, quick, and easy. It was much better than the barely-adults who staggered in after looking up the hardest drink order possible, who asked for a Commonwealth like they were five years old again, who laughed uproariously to their pals when you told them you wouldn’t do it. A vodka martini. That, you could do.
“Do you want to start a tab?”
“Oh, no, that’s quite alright. I’m not one for cards.”
To each their own, you guessed. Into a mixing glass, you poured the vodka and dry vermouth, then topped it off with ice. Wilford watched as you worked, peering intently at your hands as they dashed to-and-fro, stirred the drink, retrieved a cocktail glass from the underside of the bar. You felt his eyes on you when you turned to get the olives for a garnish, and, while you expected him to at least look away then, when you turned back. Like he was expecting you to do something other than prepare his drink.
After pouring everything into the glass, you slid it directly in front of him, the clink against the counter finally drawing his attention away from you.
You couldn’t say exactly why you were so interested in his reaction. Hovering while he took the first sip, expectations rushed through your head. Martinis weren’t easy to mess up, but they also weren’t easy to make exciting. A lukewarm response was the best you could come up with.
You didn’t expect him to lean back in his stool, almost tipping himself to the ground, and make eye contact again.
“How long have you been open?”
Shit. Did you mess up? Was he some kind of secret judge for a television show? Were you being made a mockery of? Who was he reporting back to?
You batted away the torrent of terrifying thoughts that threatened to send you spiraling, and you took a second to recover. He didn’t look put-off, his happy-go-lucky expression didn’t change, so you answered, “Two months.” You were biting back the venom in your tone just as much as the impulse to call him sir. He had told you not to, right? What was there to worry about? Nothing. Nothing at all. The tendencies went hand in hand for you.
Reassuring yourself that this was no formal chauffer looking to cause you trouble had never been so difficult, despite all the evidence that suggested he was just a weird guy in flashy clothes.
“I’m surprised I’ve never been in here before,” Wilford hummed back, returning his head to one of his hands. The other absentmindedly twirled the cocktail glass.
“I haven’t had the chance to really advertise it yet.” You were going to have to be careful with your words. The paranoia was getting to you, you knew and recognised that, but it didn’t stop you from looking over your responses with a fine-tooth comb like a script.
Your eyes narrowed at the man’s glances around the bar. He clocked the entrance, the bathrooms, the kitchen, and the backroom, the latter being the one unlabeled door behind the bar. His gaze swept back to you. “You’re the owner.”
“Yes, s- Wilford, I am.”
“And you’re the only bartender?” He leaned in even closer than he had the first time.
Your heart quieted down, and your shoulders relaxed. You should have expected concerns over your business practices. Inwardly, you brushed your fears away entirely. This was fine. He was exactly who he said he was, which, while not much, you could rely on. If he had any other intentions, you were sure the back room would have piqued his interest instead.
Suspicion lifted from your tone, you answered, “You’re correct. I think with the attendance as low as it is right now, I’ll be fine to be the only one working.”
Wilford nodded in understanding, focus drifting back to the drink that had gone woefully unattended to.
In the time that it took for him to drain the glass, you served another two patrons while another closed their tab. Thankfully, it was the guy who’d finally decided to wake up and greet the night. You didn’t want to try kicking out a drowsy drunk, and he was too blinded by sleep that he didn’t notice the dollar and eighty cents missing from his change. You stowed the cash in a drawer beneath the bar for counting later that week.
Wilford waving you over caught your eye just as you grabbed one of the pints to clean.
“Can I get you another drink?” you asked, pulling forward the empty one.
“Of course—” his hand reached out to the base of the cocktail and stopped you from walking away with it, “—though, I’d ask you some more questions, if you don’t mind.”
Fully returned to a comfortable role, you copied, “Of course.”
A sly grin overturned his curious look, while you turned to place the glass by the sink and get out a new one. You repeated the process for the second martini, slightly faster now that you’d had a refresher, and then handed it back to Wilford, who threw it back without a second thought. You couldn’t help but think it was impressive, and that was before he caught the cocktail stick between his teeth. The prideful twitch of his moustache let you know that he thought it was impressive, too.
With a new dirty glass and cloth in hand, you nodded. “Go ahead.”
“That classical music,” he started, “is that the norm?”
Currently, Infinite Ways was streaming gently through the air. “I prefer it,” you replied, “it stops people staying too long if they’re just looking for a drink and a fight.”
“Does that happen often?”
“Not as often as most bars—” You wouldn’t mention that you hadn’t really been open long enough to have many, “—but we don’t have the reputation to stop it completely yet. I step in if gets out of hand.”
You thought he might ask you more about them, maybe quiz you on proper techniques considering his line of questioning so far. Instead, he nodded and fiddled with the olive’s toothpick.
“What are your hours?”
“I open at noon; I close at two.”
“Is this your first time owning a bar?”
“My first time owning a business, in fact. I’ve got the experience of working at one, but I’ve never gone in alone before.”
You placed your next clean glass where it came from, looking for something to break the monotony. You didn’t know how, but the dramatic stranger with a cotton-candy color scheme was managing to make the conversation a tad boring. If your suspicion from earlier had stayed with you, that would have been at the forefront of your mind, but now you only had confusion and tediousness to think about. It felt more like a job interview than a casual chat.
But you didn’t need to wait long for him to pick back up the flair again.
“When were you born?”
“If you’re asking whether I can legally sell alcohol, I can assure you that I am past the age limit.”
And that was that. His final question used on something that should have been obvious. Never mind the suspicion from earlier, you were getting a revised distrust of Wilford, as he looked you up and down, until you were blocked by the counter of the bar. He hummed.
Momentarily, you were pulled from the conversation by someone closing out their tab. It was getting fairly late, so you were likely to be hit with a wave of customers leaving soon. Hopefully, if nobody new walked in, you’d be able to have some time to yourself, even if it would be standing behind a counter.
When you returned to Wilford, who you’d seen poke himself with the stick out of the corner of your eye, you didn’t reach for anything to occupy your hands. The glasses went untampered with, in favor of staring the man straight in the eye.
“Now, can I ask you a question?”
He shrugged. “It’s only fair.”
“What are you fishing for?”
Immediately, he looked startled, shaken out of whatever thoughts he had and into the present. One of his eyebrows rose while he leaned closer to you over the counter.
“Pardon?”
And you matched the distance. “You’re looking for something.”
“Whatever do you mean?”
“Half of those questions you’d already figured out for yourself. You wanted confirmation. Why?”
You’d hit the nail on the head, it seemed. Wilford spluttered as he tried to answer for his behavior, while you watched. The tables had turned, and you took pride in seeing him flounder.
“Well,” he choked out, “well, I simply wanted to know—”
“How long I’ve been open, what music we play, how old I am?”
You were well aware some of the questions made sense. You wouldn’t say it out loud, but you knew. But Wilford shot himself in the foot by panicking; you wouldn’t have pressed it had he reacted differently.
“Yes, but—”
“You’re either casing the place and looking for a way in, which I highly advise against, or you’re accidentally coming off incredibly unnerving. Choose.”
Wilford might not have been who you had suspected he was, but he certainly wasn’t the average guy looking for a drink after a shift. Something was up with him, and you were determined to get to the bottom of it, the chance at a regular customer be damned. He could sneak around all he liked in somebody else’s bar, but you didn’t want your first time owning somewhere, after putting in blood, sweat and tears, to be a catastrophic failure because somebody decided to play with you.
In the midst of your monologue, Wilford managed to regain his sense of self, enough to realise he wasn’t getting out of it without explaining. Besides, it wasn’t as though it was a problem. For once in his life, he wanted to avoid making a big scene, even if it was only because someone asked him to.
So, sighing, he looked anywhere but you as he spoke, “I have a dear friend who has a terrible habit of shutting himself in his office, from dawn to dusk without a break. He’s not the type to go where I frequent, and this charming speakeasy has a similar aesthetic to him. I desperately need to get him out of that house, and this place seems like a good fit for a trail run.”
That was… not what you were expecting. Nosiness, boredom, any sort of criminal motive – but not wanting to find a place to bring a friend. After your blatant bull-headed challenge, you were surprised that he still appeared open to the idea.
Briefly, you wondered just who this friend was, that Wilford was willing to bring close a testy bartender in return for old music and a clean room. Whether he would end up showing with him was another question.
Turning around, you decided to take the risk. “Well, if that’s the case,” you muttered, as you grabbed the pad and pen from the corner of the wall before pushing them towards him. “Write down the details so you don’t forget. I’d hate to lose a potential customer.”
Wilford stared at you. You stared at Wilford.
A smile brought up his mustache from underneath, and you took the opportunity to serve some of the others milling about the bar. When you were attending a pair by the door, you noticed he was swinging his feet off the stool, just barely scraping the ground. You couldn’t help but grin lightly, which was bolstered when the undertone of his voice started humming underneath the music. Even if he was a little kooky, he was nice.
He was finished by the time you returned, the ripped-out sheet of notes sitting beside the pad and pen. You couldn’t read the handwriting, but the sketch of the bar was pleasant enough. You supposed you’d find out what he’d written if you ever saw him again.
Gently, he pushed both the pad and his empty glass towards you. “My thanks, dear Dionysus,” he drawled with a wink.
Dionysus, huh? Well, you weren’t going to be telling him your real name any time soon. Neither of your behaviors warranted it, and you doubted it would ever be used, given how, thinking about it, you were certain you’d screwed the interaction up with vague threats.
Nevertheless, you muttered, “Apt name,” and passed the glass over to the sink. “I hope to see both you and your friend in the future, Wilford.”
Getting up from his seat, the man fished an embroidered, leather wallet out of one of his pockets and threw down a twenty dollar note. He was supposed to have change, even with that human behavior charge, but he started waltzing away before you could reach for the drawer. Although, he very deliberately stepped over the plank on his way out, so you couldn’t guess that your shady practice went unnoticed.
“I’m sure you will!” he called out behind him. He tugged the door open and, with a final wave, escaped into the cold night. He disappeared from sight almost immediately, consumed by the darkness that welcomed in your own tiredness as you stared through the windows.
Only two more people left. You could close out their bills and be done before all the stars were out. You didn’t know if you would stay focused throughout it, however, as your thoughts drifted around your head like a haze of fog. It was weird to be as interested as you were in Wilford; nobody had caught your eye quite like him before, if only out of morbid curiosity. It wasn’t like you’d ever met someone like him before, though, so it was so be expected.
What a strange man.

"Climbing back into bed, onto your partner's body to wake them up" with ineffable husbands? (I would suggest a more exciting pairing, maybe Alec and someone, only I don't know any of Michael's other characters very well rip)
The ineffables are always welcomed to be written in prompts here, it doesn't always have to be a crossover haha.
This is the boys in the South Downs, in their little cottage, living their best lives.
On with the fic!
--
The sun wasn't even up yet, but Crowley knew he needed to get up to greet the day, even if it was just for a short period of time.
With a loud yawn and a few, bone popping stretches, the demon slipped from the bed. He glanced over at his husband, who was sleeping soundly. Aziraphale usually didn't bother with it, but sometimes he liked to indulge in Crowley's favorite human habit and doze off after a good book and a cuddle.
He smiled sleepily before grabbing his robe and slipping it on, leaving the room.
Crowley really didn't need to be up this early, with the light of the sun just barely rising over the horizon, but they had recently invested in the care of chickens, and it was time to feed them. It had been Crowley's idea, for their home, as something interesting to take care of along with the gardens, the duck pond, and Aziraphale bee project.
The four chickens were Crowley's new pride and joys, and he loved each and every one of them. Grabbing the feedbag and slipping on his favorite gardening boots (that were covered in little cartoon chickens and ducks), he slipped outside. In the fenced in area, he found two of them already up.
"Good mornin', Ariel, Beatrice." He yawned and shuffled the feedbag in his hands. This caught the girls' attention, and very quickly he heard the clucking of the other two as they left their hen house. "And to you as well, Juliet, Titania."
The chickens clucked at him as he tossed the feed to them, and their normal frenzy for breakfast happened. He tossed another handful to them before going to get the beekeeping equipment. Crowley had heard Aziraphale comment that his honey jar was empty last night after his final cup of tea for the day was prepared and the demon had made a note to get some fresh honey in the morning.
He was used to caring for the bees, taught by the angel himself, who had taken care of a number of hives over the ages. He went through the motions of carefully extracting a honeycomb and some of the honey, putting them in a new jar. He then repaired the hive where he broke it off from the slide he had removed, and then put it back in.
With the jar secured, the chickens fed, Crowley went inside and kicked off his boots. He set the jar by the canister holding Aziraphale's current tea of the month. He decided to get the tea prepared for Aziraphale, cup ready, the defuser filled with loose leaf tea, and the kettle now sat on the stove with water, waiting to be heated up.
With a stretch, and a crack from Crowley's back, he looked out the window. The sun was finally making itself more known and the demon smacked his lips, heading back to bed. Aziraphale was still sleeping soundly and Crowley removed the book from where it had been laying on the bed, forgotten when the angel had finally dozed off.
Then he flopped onto said angel, nuzzled up against his neck, wrapping his arms around him. He felt the gesture returned by a familiar pair of arms moving around his body.
"I fell asleep again, didn't I?" Aziraphale spoke, his voice heavy with sleep.
"Mmmhmm... the girlies 're fed, got ya some honey too..." Crowley mumbled. "Gonna sleep now..."
Aziraphale chuckled, making Crowley move a bit at the action. He felt a warm kiss against his forehead. "Thank you, dear. I'll wake you up in a few hours with breakfast. Want me to get the eggs?"
Crowley nodded and Aziraphale said some other things but he was already falling back into a blissful sleep.
--
I just really like the idea of this being a normal morning for them, even if Aziraphale doesn't always sleep through Crowley's dawn chores.

Gotta start somewhere, and your best bet is a book
Since 2020, I've jumped headfirst into the world of hiking and exploring nature with intention and reverence (more on that in a different blog post). I've realized that I have a solid sense of direction, and can navigate trail maps with relative ease. It's taken practice, of course, and a fair number of (low-stakes) missteps, but I can say with confidence that I can navigate my way along a decently marked trail with the support of a map.
All of that confidence goes out the window when there are no trails to follow. And the Ah-shi-sle-pah wilderness is just that-- a wilderness, backcountry with no human-constructed guidance.
So, I did what any nerd would do and bought a book to teach me how to actually navigate.
Even though it might not seem like it to some, this is a big goal for me, and I've learned that it's best to break up a big goal into many little steps. This is my first little step. As long as I take these little steps consistently, I'll reach my goal.
And when society inevitably collapses during my lifetime, navigation is going to be a very important skill to know!

Between the Lines
The three times that Liv left Astarion books, and the one time he gave her one. Or, what if I desperately tried to write a cute fluffy book exchange and then it became more about working through trauma? Astarion x tav, 2500 words.
Also on AO3.
___________________________________________________________
Astarion likes the quiet evenings at camp best. Sure, the ever looming threat of turning into a mind flayer hangs over them all, but otherwise, it’s quite peaceful. There are plenty of books about, and so he spends most of his evenings reading. It is…strange. To have the freedom to do whatever he would like, to a point, they are out in the middle of nowhere after all. But these small moments, small decisions, they’re his. How he wants to spend his time, what book he wants to read, if he wants to participate in conversation or not, they’re his. For the first time in two centuries, he has those small freedoms.
He can’t remember if he was much of a reader before Cazador turned him, but after, oh the only true solace he had was in books. He remembers when he first discovered the velocity of escape, the comfort of being someone else with other problems. It was so much easier to pass the long, bleak daylight hours stuck in Cazador’s palace when he had a book to read. It made everything easier. Each story was a place to retreat no matter how bad things became.
And retreat he did, often. He told himself stories while the lashes landed on his back. Told himself stories while trapped in the darkness alone. Retold tales of adventure and worlds and places he knew he would never see. He might never feel the sunlight on his skin again, but he could read about those who could. It was a pinprick of hope in the darkness.
At first, he kept the books a secret, smuggling them into forgotten corners and only reading them when he could ensure he was alone. The second that Cazador caught wind that Astarion might enjoy something, it was liable to be taken away. But as the years wore on, as he became more and more resigned to his fate, he stopped hiding the books. He read everything from poetry to histories to philosophy. At some point, he stopped reading stories. They stopped offering hope or comfort. It made him sick to read about a hero saving the day, about the world being saved when there was no hero coming for him, no world where he escaped Cazador’s grip on his throat.
Until now.
They find books everywhere. Astarion peruses the spines until he finds something interesting and slips it into his bag. Then he spends the night poring over its pages. It’s been years since he’s read anything fictional, anything fantastical, but something about the impending doom hanging over his head makes him care less than he used to. Maybe, a little hope here at the end of all things is okay.
Maybe this tadpole won’t turn him into just another type of monster. Maybe he can use it, maybe he can twist this all to his advantage, maybe he never has to be a puppet of Cazador’s whims again. He’s read enough stories to know that the power grabs belong to villains, but he’s long since stopped thinking himself a hero anyway. Heroes and villains die just the same as the next fool, and he’d rather survive.
It shouldn’t surprise him that he’s not the only bookworm in camp. Oh, he expected the two wizards to hoard books like dragons, but while Gale prefers arcane theory, Liv has a different collection. She seems to be like him, collecting stories instead. She has a neat little stack at her tent, and Astarion might have glanced at the spines, just to see what she might be reading. Not that he actually cares what she’s reading, this is about seduction, obviously. The better he knows his target the more success he’ll have.
It’s on one of those quiet nights at camp that she asks what he’s reading, the words soft, almost too quiet with the crackling fire between them.
He looks up from the well-worn pages. The other members of their group are elsewhere, sleeping or busy with their own distractions. It’s just the two of them at the fire now. He’s supposed to be seducing her, which means that this would be a good opportunity for him to move closer, to drop his voice just above a whisper so that she has to lean in to hear. It’s a dance he’s done a thousand times with a thousand different people; the music varies but the steps are the same. They work every time.
He’s not sure why he doesn’t move, then. Why he can’t seem to will himself through the pantomime tonight. He stays exactly where he’s at, reclined against a log. “Searching for Adze,” he replies without lowering the book.
“I’m not familiar with it. Is it any good?” she asks.
“Oh, it’s absolutely awful. The plot is basically nonsensical, but it went on enough about hammers I definitely believed it might have a bit more spice to make it worthwhile.” He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively. The flirtation is half-hearted, Liv tends to ignore most of these remarks anyway. It’s partly infuriating, the way she gracefully side-steps his most overt flirtations. But there are moments when her interest is clear, like when she drew his portrait or any time he drinks from her neck. It’s happened three times now; not that he’s counting.
Liv smiles. “I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you enjoy smutty books.”
Darling, everyone enjoys smutty books. Most books would be greatly improved with its inclusion. Including this one.”
“You should certainly pass that along to the authors of spell theory books. I’m sure they’d love the feedback.”
Liv’s humor is dry, a blink and you miss it sort of wit. He smiles. “And what are you reading?”
“Re-reading,” she corrects, “Tales from the Underground, an old favorite. With everything so uncertain, it’s nice to read something where I know the ending.”
Astarion understands that sentiment. When things were at their worst, when he was starving, or hardly able to think straight or clearly for the pain of suffering Cazador’s ire, a plot twist or a surprise ending felt crueler than a death sentence. He would instead take comfort in the stories he knew, in pages so well-worn he hardly needed to do more than skim the pages.
He’s familiar with her book, he enjoyed it, once. “I suppose there is a sort of comfort in knowing what happens next.”
Her green eyes are bright with the gratitude of being understood. “Yes. I…whenever life got difficult, I always found myself retreating back into a book. My problems usually look smaller than whatever world-ending thing is happening in a book.” She frowns. “It’s not working very well right now.”
Her admission rankles. He’s the most at peace he’s been in two hundred years. He wonders what could have ever been so bad in her little life of privilege that she’d need to retreat into a book. She hasn’t said much about her background, but he recognized her last name. She’s a noble, a diplomat’s daughter. Even without that information, he would have placed her accent as upper city anyway. But he’s never heard of her, which means she’s from places too bright and redolent with life for even Cazador to sully.
“Well, it’s not so bad; we’re not dead yet,” he stretches a bit, beginning to stand. He can tell she’s going to talk more, is going to share things about herself and her life, and he doesn’t want to know those things. He doesn’t want to care. He is here to survive, to do whatever it takes, take whatever moments he must. But there is no seduction here, staying means talking, bonding, it wouldn’t be in the service of his plan. And it’s precisely why he can’t stay.
If she’s bothered by his exit, she doesn’t say. Just like she hasn’t said a word about the page he stole from her sketchbook. He’s sure she’s noticed it, he’s seen her sketching at night too. He wishes she’d say something, anything, but everything is the same as it has always been with her. She’s infuriatingly even-keeled, even under present circumstances. When she breaks, and she will, no one is this stoic, it will likely be dramatic. It will probably be entertaining.
A few days later, the first book appears. He’s been out hunting; he’s content, a little blood drunk, but sated, calm. Until he notices the book on the stool, and every bit of warmth and peace turns to ice. He tells himself he’s being ridiculous, that evidence of someone being around his tent while he’s away isn’t necessarily a portent for something bad. And yet, it takes all his courage to reach for the book. He turns it over in his hands, searching for some sign or message. The book is just a book, there is no note. An unfamiliar title, but from the cover and art within the first few pages, it’s an adventure novel.
He mistrusts the gift immediately. Cazador used gifts as much as the lash. There was always a message embedded. A gift might mean something good in the moment, but those moments were all too fleeting. He got better at reading their inherent messages with time, but he still remembers far too well the lessons learned when he didn’t. What’s the agenda here? What does someone in this camp want from him? Are they doing this on purpose, just to see him squirm? For the night, he sets the book aside.
The next night another appears. A few days later, another. Only this time, it’s Tales from the Underground, and the mystery of his book deliverer is solved. Liv has been leaving him books. But what he cannot fathom is why.
He gets his answer two days later, when he witnesses Liv give Karlach a stuffed owlbear as a friend for her teddy bear, Clive. Karlach can’t even touch the gift herself, since it’ll catch fire if she even walks too close to it, but she’s overjoyed. And there is no agenda. Liv doesn’t expect anything in return. She’s just being nice.
It’s disgusting really.
Astarion doesn’t want Liv’s niceness, though he supposes it must mean that part of his plan is working. If she’s being nice to him, then she won’t turn on him. What’s more infuriating than her niceness is that now he seems to be looking for a book to give to her. It’s an unconscious thing, really. But he can grudgingly admit that she does have fine taste. The books she’s anonymously deposited at his tent have been exactly what he would have picked for himself.
Besides, participating in this little book exchange is sure to win him enough favor with her to buy him safety. So he doesn’t really know why it takes him so long to settle on a book. But finally, he does.
It’s another quiet night at camp; no devils have appeared to collect debts, and hells, Gale isn’t even eating magic boots. Liv and Shadowheart had spent some time at the fire, drinking wine for a while, but now Liv’s at her tent alone. She seems to be working on something, spellbook open and components scattered across a small table.
“It’s a lovely evening,” he says by way of greeting.
She glances up from her work, and seems surprised to see him standing there. He supposes that’s because she’s usually the one that comes to speak to him. “It is. Everything all right?”
There’s a small hint of suspicion in her eyes; she’s clearly trying to read him, his intentions. Fair enough. He’s not exactly innocent here. He holds up the book in his hand. “I brought you something.”
Her entire face brightens. “Really?” She seems genuinely surprised, and thrilled. For someone who likely grew up wanting for nothing, him bringing her a book surely couldn’t mean that much. Could it?
Well, if it does, all the better for him, obviously.
He purposefully steps closer, turning to the side rather than head on. She’s skittish, he’s learned, and this way, she doesn’t put distance between them. He offers her the book. “This one is one of my favorites. If you haven’t read it, I’d be happy to describe to you what happens. Everything that happens. In great detail.”
There’s actually nothing particularly smutty in this story, this is just a line he thought up while looking for a book for her. It has the desired effect. She blushes as she reads the spine. “Thank you, I haven’t read this one. I take it that means you didn’t dislike the books I left for you?” And there’s the sidestep, the distance, but she hasn’t moved away, not yet.
“Darling, I simply adore gifts.Your little books were a welcome surprise.” The lie slips prettily off his tongue, even though he knows that she won’t miss the slight insult, as if the books meant nothing, just another trinket among trinkets. He’s not sure why it’s always this way with her. She is soft, gentle. If Liv has a hard edge he’s yet to find it, but he can’t seem to avoid trying to cut her all the same.
She retreats away, pressing the tips of her fingers into the corners of the cloth-bound cover. “You hadn’t said anything, so I wasn’t sure.”
Her guard is up now, it’s best to drop his routine rather than press her too hard. Which means it’s time for him to go. But something inside him can’t help but ask. “How did you know what I’d like?” The question comes out harsher than intended, but it’s too late to take it back now.
It’s clearly not the question she’s expecting from the way uncertainty quickly moves across her face. Gone in a flash, banished with a smile. “It wasn’t too hard, I saw some of the books you grabbed for yourself. I simply added the ones I knew that I thought were similar.” She shrugs like it’s nothing.
Ugh, nice people are so boring.
He represses a sigh. He’s turned an interaction that was supposed to be seduction into something that feels accusatory, so he knows he has to dig himself out of this, so he offers her bit of niceness in return. “I liked them. I liked them all quite a lot. I just didn’t realize I was so transparent, is all.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone of your very embarrassing penchant for adventure stories.”
“What else do I have out here, but my sordid reputation?”
She laughs at that. “I have some other books too, if you want to look through them. I wasn’t sure what you had or hadn’t read.”
Staying breaks every internal rule he’s made for himself, but he does stay. They talk books for a pleasant half an hour. He tells himself that he’s got an ulterior motive here, and that this is all in service to his grand plan. But later, when he’s alone in his tent, he might admit to himself that he stayed because he wanted to.
And he wonders for the first time if this plan of his is truly necessary. He discards the thought as quickly as it comes. This isn’t a story, there’s no happy ending coming unless he reaches out and takes it for himself.

I’m not sure if you’ve already made a post about this (I’m sorry if you have) but would you mind telling us about your detective in Wayhaven?
-transsidestep
@transsidestep Thank you for the ask! I haven't, actually. I have one for each of UB, but Mason and Nate's are still being fleshed out and worked upon, so I'll tell you about the other two.
Julian Mendez:
Deduction and science-leaning with atrocious people skills and just enough self defense knowledge to get by
He's a very stoic and intimidating person upon first blush, and can be pretty hard to get to know due to quite a bit of trust issues. But once he sees you as part of his family, he'd move the earth and stars for you.
His and Rebecca's relationship is incredibly prickly. Julian values honesty pretty highly, which meant the secrets Rebecca keeps kept the rift between them pretty wide. As a child, he wanted for nothing materially, but he's never really forgiven her for not being there personally.
He fell for Felix pretty hard. It started off as attraction, something which he tried to ignore given that he knew UB's stay was only temporary, but they're both incredibly passionate individuals who see the world in unique ways. Their weirdness gels really well.
He's also chronically ill. SLE and a heart defect that devolved into needed a mechanical valve. He also has occasional bouts of over-stimulation and food aversion.
Instead of being a beat cop with Tina, he was actually a forensic pathologist with Verda. He calls him Sol.
He begrudgingly accepted the nickname "Jules" from Tina. Felix calls him that because he thinks it's cute and because Julian is a sucker for him. Nate accidentally picked it up, but Julian hasn't had the heart to tell him otherwise.
Grew up speaking both English and Spanish and so his accent is a little odd to most people in Wayhaven. Has a tendency to break into Spanish when really embarrassed or really upset.
Raine Callaghan:
The eldest of my detectives at the grand age of 39. The events of the books expedite his progress towards a silver fox.
His highest skills are combat and psychology and it really shows. He's a bit of a loveable rogue archetype, charming and a bit smarmy, prone to sarcasm. He hides his anxieties behind humor.
He and Rebecca used to have a decent relationship when he was younger (he's actually her stepson - Rook died when he was about 8 years old), but have drifted apart since Rook died and Eoin (Rebecca and Rook's son) got hospitalized. They might could fix their relationship if they could learn to talk to each other again.
Grew up in Belfast during the Troubles. He hides his accent after some nasty interactions upon Rebecca first moving him out to London. The more he hangs out with Unit Bravo, the more he falls back into it. It has a lot to do with trust and feeling safe.
He is the bane of Adam's job for a good while. They butt heads quite a bit early on, both finding the other to be an arrogant bastard, and only really become friends over the course of late Book One and throughout Book Two. They don't start falling for each other until Book Three. They are both find the other attractive early on, but shelf the attraction in lieu of their rivalry.
Comes across a little foolhardy and easygoing, but he's actually quite clever and exceptionally protective of his friends. One of the first things that wins Adam's respect is his willingness to stand up for the team as well as his drive when it comes down to brass tacks.
After the Bobby-plagiarism fiasco in college (which led to him dropping out), Raine decided if everyone was gonna see him as a troublemaker, he'd best start making trouble. He became quite the prolific con artist, with a heavy leaning into pickpocketing and some minor carjacking. It was join the force or go to jail - he reluctantly opted for the force.
His full name is actually Ciaran. Legally changed it in college for spiteful reasons. Kind of regrets it now. He tells it to Adam at the end of Book Two. Once they're on first name basis, Adam uses it when they're alone.
#Thanks for the ask#Not fhr#Wayhaven#Julian mendez#Raine Callaghan#Forgot to mention but Julian is somewhere between genderqueer and autigender#And raine is gay#These are also my tall Bois#With Julian being 6'3“ and Raine being 6'5”

sniper's loft bed headcanons pls 👁️👁️
omg.,., ehehe.,., i’m soo glad you asked this is something i am Not at All Insane About.,., ehee.,., and i actually think its probably for the best that i elaborate on this here since there really isn’t a graceful way to fit posts like this within a fic SKDFKSD so!! let’s get to it! starting off by saying i’ve been in and out of motorhomes, trucks with camper shells, vans, etc my entire life (though i would be doing it a lot more in my adult life if i could find ways to not have Every Bug On Earth eat me alive ;_; gwah!) so i guess i’m just a little biased for what i see In My Mind. i have yet to sketch out/floorplan out sniper’s van layout itself In My Mind but let’s just keep it vague enough to say it’s nothing flashy, but it’s cozy and Aged and… lived in! i’ve talked about it before in one of my Many headcanon posts but i think he was always taught that he doesn’t need material things and while i wouldn’t say he’s a hoarder by any means, i think he tries to convince himself everything in his home has a Practical Application just so he can justify hanging onto it! i think sniper is v sentimental and the stuff he chooses to keep might be a little “unconventional” by average standards (ie he doesn’t have lots of photos of his family, but kept his mum’s handmade quilts and his dad’s old knife and hunting rifle. also presses flowers and would keep the eggshell of when he and medic first ate breakfast in bed together, etc) but i could ALSO make a whole other post about just little knicknacks i think you’d find in sniper’s home at any given time HEHE… but i’m doing my best to stay on track so!!
i’m going to preface this with IM SORRY for the “pinterest looking ass” photos to describe what i’m talking about but just use this as a Basic Jumping Off Point. Not as the Literal Visual. work with me here… so i think sniper’s bed has LOTS of pillows and blankets. if you’ve ever slept in one of those loft bed camper van beds you’d know that those walls are cold and hard and don’t really hold heat in all that well! i think the blankets are a combination of furs he has (though he rolls up and stores them when its hot out), sherpa/wool, knit blankets and quilts, etc. all of different sizes and weights. whatever makes him comfortable! pillows are extremely worn in (as are the blankets; you could find lots of mends on them!) and comfortable just the way sniper likes them. i think he has so many layers because he sleeps naked and likes to be able to adjust what parts of his body are covered and what parts aren’t. he’s the king of sticking one of those loooong legs out of the covers, or having only his tummy covered and the rest of him exposed, etc! he likes being able to change things quickly to suit his needs. this is also great for draping something over his shoulders when he’s laying out on top of his van at night watching the stars or sitting in a lawn chair feeding hoots!
the space is small, so i think he’d also have a “nightstand” which really is just a “coffeetable book” (ie a big-ish hard cover book) of some subject he’s interested in that he’d keep pressed against the “long wall” of the camper that has just a battery-powered plastic lantern (for reading before bed ehe) on it, a worn-out old book of poetry or some kind of book he’s read a thousand times that he likes skimming before bed (this is not to be confused with the Utility Books he reads at others times about survivalism, gun cleaning, etc. this is a Wind Down Specific book), and aheh, when he starts really falling for medic, something else too… but i’ll discuss that later in my fics! ;-) if i’m being really self-indulgent i think he also has a stuffed animal from his childhood that he’s still hung onto all these years, but he keeps him stored away safely in a pillowcase because he doesn’t want it getting lost or damaged! :’( also he’s just a huge cuddlebug imo, so he likes having things he can Grab or fling his leg or arm over in his sleep (pillows, bunched up blankets, etc)! the space is small but he makes it very homey! HEHEHE
#WHEW#SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG TO ANSWER i was trying to find pictures that kind of described the Vibe i was going for and with no such luck -_-#this is as close as i could get and even then its not…. Exactly how i mean. grrr#asks#dutchiehcs#maximum-ride#TY FOR ASKING THOGUH EHEHEHEE I HAVE so many like. hyper-specific headcanons and i’m like errmmmm would anyone care what my thoguhts are#on this weird niche subject as a part of a study of this character?? KSDFKSDKF#dutchfoolery#if you can think of a Weird Niche concept to have a headcanon of chances are i have a headcanon of it LOL#and you DEFINITELY. DEFINITELY should NOT think about sniper and medic making love in his loft bed surrounded by/under lots of#cuddly blankets and a dim night light. you totally like. should not do that i think#or maybe you can crawl inside my mind and Do imagine it. maybe you are In my mind right now becuase yo’ure imagining it#:-)

Things Forgotten and Reforged Part 4
Suramar always was a feast for the senses, with its star-fall showers, archwine berry scents, and comfortable cool colors of deep violet blue and plum, contrasted by the silvery white spires of the crescent city. The marvels of the lost Empire of Kaldorei in living expressions of architecture and indescribably decadent Trade streets, bustling inns and lavish apartments that had been scrubbed for the most part of Legion influence, though in the rougher parts of the city you might spy a ruin or a black-green scorch mark, or hastily scraped away rune from a summoning circle. At worst there might be a demon that had managed to stow away for years living off scraps, or cons but they were few and far-between now… and for once it wasn’t the back alleys or common place spaces Trist was touring. Tonight he wandered the venue he had played… It had taken some truly out of the ordinary charm to be permitted in when there was a booking in the next week and it needed to be the absolute best it could be for those making use of the space, but he now wondered the empty dance hall hood down and in awe of the space again, smiling privately to himself as his steps automatically migrated to the raised stage he’d been placed at.
The truth of the matter was his booking had been a last moment decision by Harmony, he had merely been filling in for a different musician. The heartache was still too fresh and playing for a crowd of strangers, with no one beyond the Host he knew to speak to. Trist was reluctant but had never betrayed it, and through all the hurts Harmony had been there even if she did not know the depths of his wounds or what was still so new that it made all he played sound sour… like it’s technical beauty was unmatched, but the heart being played was bitter and guarded, like the soul he had sent down the strings of his art was shattered and nothing -ever- sounded right… Well except when he played the sad songs… the ones that whispered into the dark that he wanted to weep behind the smile… Except when -he- had heard it… Like he’d just -known- the truth behind each note the way no one else had. So Trist had played… or had begun to until he’d seen who -also- had been in attendance. He wanted to flee. He couldn’t be seen, lest he distress, upset, HURT someone by simply existing as himself again! Not again. Not here- And just as He’d gone to GiGi (Harmony) to escape, to tell her to find someone else, he couldn’t share a space with that one, it’d cause everyone distress… “Hello, Little Mouse…” Even alone in the open hall those words he FELT ripple through him like a wave of soothing balm against the burning sting of dread, just as it had that night… Leo had been in the tightest corset and all black bliss that made Trist’s even broken heart try and skip beats, and his stomach flip, his tongue tangle with the words he had thought of saying to excuse himself… and instead answer, “Lion poet…” He spoke it aloud to the air smiling with a sort of glaze eyed bliss that just consumed him… That night… there were dancers and fans, and beauties of all sorts… but After Leo had arrived… There was nothing… no one else… Trist had forgotten he was leaving and stepped back onto his stage… eyes Transfixed on the Dark elf who always seemed to be catching him alone in the crowds. Trist tried to excuse it… claim that it was just a coincidence… And Yet Leo’s eyes met his own the whole evening. Holding each other’s gazes over Hypernia the loot in Trist’s arms and the space between performer and audience. When he played that night… it hadn’t been for a crowd. It had shamelessly… been for the Lion of Midnight… the Poet who’s words were chosen with such care their impact became that much stronger. Leo watched him all night…
Trist grinned to himself as the flush of these welcome warm memories flooded him, WELCOMED the night that danced to his music the crowd faceless, all but for the one that now was the face he woke beside, and slept beside… all but for the intensely adoring gaze of his Mate… “It was like gravity…” Trist spoke to the empty room making his way up to the entrance hall, the overlook and statue balcony that he had walked his Lion to under the excuse of needing air… and an escape from the crowd. He’d convinced himself it was just to tease Leo to further their catch and chase… round the Mouse and the Lion about their roles… but that bloody kiss changed things… It was pure teasing, temptation, a game… then it wasn’t. For a moment he tasted starlight and darkness, blueberries and dark chocolate, bathed in Patchuli and soft grounded earth that was so rich it should have suffocated him. But instead Trist kissed his Lion long before he knew Leo was his until he was drowning in that magic… that gravitational pull that tugged him closer made him linger, made his lips tremble with the weight… the -gravity- of what had just occurred. That he’d played music and it hadn’t hurt his soul… that he’d kissed and not tasted ashes but instead longed for more… -so- much more from this Elf… this Muse made of Midnight and Mystery, and Magic. When he’d gotten ahold of his senses he saw to his shock and abject delight… that whatever effect the Lion had had upon Trist… It was a mirror on Leo’s face, that gazed at him in awe… It took everything in him in that moment to play off that moment of divine bliss as part of their game, Trist had even swaggered off claiming some nonsense of how it’d just be a little taste to wet the Lion’s appetite… only to slip behind a wall and twirl like a love struck teenager and crash face first into a pillar for all his suave exit. The Bard found himself running a hand on the tapestry that had been their backdrop and tugged gently at a thread that unraveled the edge… then the corner… until Trist had a spool’s worth of starlit thread he wound around a waiting needle…
So what if a single old flag went missing this time? The Venue could afford to replace it…

Top Tips for Cracking IIT JEE: Insights from Delhi's Coaching Experts
Delhi is celebrated as a hub for IIT JEE preparation, with a host of prestigious coaching institutes guiding students to success. Cracking IIT JEE is a blend of strategic preparation, perseverance, and expert guidance. Let’s dive into the top tips and strategies shared by Best IIT JEE Coaching in Delhi experts.
1. Master Time Management
Time management is one of the most critical skills for cracking IIT JEE. Here are actionable steps to master it:
Create a Study Plan: Develop a detailed timetable that breaks your preparation into daily, weekly, and monthly goals. Ensure you allocate time for all three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Prioritize Wisely: Identify high-weightage topics and focus more on areas where you need improvement. Strengthening weak areas can significantly boost your overall score.
Use Time Effectively: Dedicate uninterrupted blocks of time for deep study, and reserve lighter tasks like revision for when your energy levels are lower.
Pro Tip: Use tools like planners, to-do lists, or study apps to track your progress and ensure you stay organized.
2. Strengthen Your Basics
A strong foundation is essential for solving complex problems in IIT JEE. Here’s how you can build it:
Start with NCERT Books: NCERT textbooks are indispensable for understanding fundamental concepts, particularly in Chemistry. They form the base for advanced topics.
Focus on Concepts: Avoid rote learning. Dive deep into the "why" and "how" of every formula or principle. Conceptual clarity ensures you can tackle even unfamiliar questions.
Seek Clarity: If you encounter doubts, resolve them promptly. Leverage your coaching institute’s doubt-clearing sessions or online resources for guidance.
Remember: A well-laid foundation simplifies advanced problem-solving.
3. Practice, Practice, Practice
Practice is the backbone of IIT JEE preparation. Here’s how you can make it effective:
Solve Previous Years’ Papers: Analyze trends and familiarize yourself with the exam pattern by solving past question papers.
Take Mock Tests: Regular mock tests help you simulate real exam conditions. They build your speed, accuracy, and confidence.
Analyze Your Performance: After each test, review your mistakes. Understanding where you went wrong helps prevent similar errors in the future.
Consistent practice hones your problem-solving skills and ensures you’re exam-ready.
4. Stay Consistent and Disciplined
Consistency and discipline are key to sustaining your preparation over the long term:
Follow a Routine: Establish a daily schedule that includes study, revision, and relaxation. Sticking to a routine ensures steady progress.
Avoid Procrastination: Start small to overcome procrastination. Accomplishing even minor goals boosts your momentum.
Take Regular Breaks: Short breaks between study sessions refresh your mind and prevent burnout.
Consistency bridges the gap between your goals and accomplishments.
5. Learn from the Best
Delhi is home to some of the best coaching institutes for IIT JEE. Leverage their expertise to maximize your preparation:
Enroll in a Reputed Coaching Institute:
FIITJEE Delhi: Renowned for its rigorous test series and systematic approach.
Aakash Institute: Offers personalized mentorship and comprehensive study materials.

How to Balance Academics and Extracurricular Activities in CBSE Schools
Balancing academics and extracurricular activities is a key skill that students, especially in CBSE schools, must master. In places like Ahmedabad, where some of the best CBSE schools in Ahmedabad focus on both academic excellence and extracurricular growth, this balancing act becomes even more essential. Extracurricular activities, such as sports, music, and art, complement academic learning, helping students develop life skills and interests beyond textbooks. But how do students manage their time to excel in both?
Why is Balance Important?
In the top CBSE schools in Ahmedabad, extracurricular activities are just as important as academics. Focusing on one and neglecting the other can lead to stress or missed opportunities for personal growth. Studies show that engaging in activities outside academics gives the brain a break and makes students more focused when they return to their studies.
According to research by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), students who are involved in extracurricular activities often perform better academically. This is because they learn crucial skills such as time management, discipline, and teamwork.
1. Create a Schedule
One of the best ways to balance your studies and activities is by creating a schedule. A daily or weekly timetable can help you stay on track. Plan your study hours first, then allocate time for activities like sports or hobbies.
For example, if you spend two hours on homework, you can also set aside one hour for football practice or art classes. Remember, the key is consistency. Follow your schedule every day, and it will soon become a habit.
2. Prioritize Your Tasks
It's important to know what is most important and what can wait. Not all homework assignments or extracurricular activities are equally urgent. Sometimes, you might have a test coming up, so it’s essential to focus more on studying. Other times, you may need to practice for an upcoming competition or event.
Make a list of your tasks every day. Put the most important ones at the top and work through them in order. This helps reduce stress and ensures that you give equal importance to both academics and extracurriculars.
3. Avoid Procrastination
One of the biggest challenges students face is procrastination, which means delaying your tasks. It can lead to unnecessary stress and can make balancing your activities harder. If you get your homework or study done right away, you’ll have more time for your extracurriculars.
A good way to beat procrastination is by breaking tasks into smaller parts. For example, if you have a science project, you can work on it for 30 minutes every day rather than rushing at the last moment.
4. Set Realistic Goals
It’s important to set realistic goals for both your academics and extracurricular activities. If you set goals that are too difficult, you may feel overwhelmed. Start small, and as you achieve your goals, you can aim higher.
For example, aim to finish one chapter of your textbook before going for football practice. This way, you can manage your time without feeling stressed.
5. Learn to Say No
Sometimes, it’s okay to say no. If you have an important test coming up, it’s okay to skip an extracurricular activity for a day or two. On the other hand, if you have been studying for hours and need a break, give yourself permission to enjoy your extracurricular activity.
Learning to say no to certain activities helps you focus better and reduces unnecessary stress.
6. Stay Organized
Being organized is the key to balancing multiple responsibilities. Keep your study materials, books, and notes in order. This will save time when you need to study for exams or complete assignments. Similarly, keep your sports gear, art supplies, or musical instruments ready for your extracurricular activities.
A clutter-free space helps you think clearly and manage your tasks more efficiently.
7. Get Enough Sleep and Eat Healthily
Balancing studies and activities can take a lot of energy. So, it’s essential to take care of your body too. Get enough sleep so that you can focus well in school and perform your best in extracurricular activities.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, children aged 10-12 should sleep at least 9-10 hours a day for optimal performance. Along with sleep, eat a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. This will give you the energy to keep up with both your academics and activities.
8. Ask for Help When Needed
It’s okay to ask for help if you feel overwhelmed. Talk to your parents, teachers, or even friends. They might help you come up with a better schedule or give you tips on how to manage your time. You don’t have to do everything on your own.
If you're struggling with your studies, ask your teachers for extra help. Similarly, if your extracurricular activity is taking too much time, talk to your coach or instructor to adjust your schedule.
9. The Benefits of Extracurricular Activities
Participating in extracurricular activities has many benefits beyond just having fun. Activities like sports help you stay physically fit and improve teamwork skills. Arts and music enhance your creativity and give you a chance to express yourself.
In fact, studies from the American Psychological Association (APA) show that students involved in extracurricular activities tend to perform better academically because they develop better focus and discipline.
10. Find Activities You Love
The key to balancing studies and extracurricular activities is finding activities that you truly enjoy. Whether it's playing basketball, learning a new instrument, or joining a debate club, choose something that excites you.
When you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like a burden. This makes it easier to balance your studies and activities without feeling stressed or tired.
Conclusion
Balancing academics and extracurricular activities in CBSE schools may seem challenging, but it’s not impossible. With good planning, time management, and support from your parents and teachers, you can excel in both areas. Remember to set realistic goals, avoid procrastination, and always prioritize your well-being.
By managing your time wisely and choosing activities that make you happy, you’ll grow into a well-rounded individual ready for future challenges.
So, are you ready to take on the challenge of balancing both your studies and your favorite activities? With these tips, you can achieve success in both and enjoy every moment of your school life!

The Hero's Journey: Beneficial Ingredients
Hydration Heroes:
Humectants: Glycerin, hyaluronic acid - Attract and retain moisture, essential for dry hair.
Emollients: Shea butter, coconut oil - Smooth hair texture and add shine.
Strength & Shine Squad:
Keratin: Strengthens hair and reduces frizz.
Biotin: Promotes healthy hair growth.
Argan oil: Rich in antioxidants, nourishes and adds shine.
Cleansing Champions:
Sulfates (SLS/SLES): Effective cleansers, but can be harsh for dry or color-treated hair. Opt for gentler alternatives if needed.
Coconut-based cleansers: Provide a gentle cleansing experience.
The Villain's Lair: Ingredients to Avoid (or Use with Caution)
Alcohol (SD Alcohol, Ethanol): Can be drying and damaging, especially for dry or color-treated hair. Look for "alcohol-free" labels.
Silicones: Create a temporary smoothing effect but can build up on hair, making it appear limp. Consider water-soluble silicones for easier removal.
Heat Protectants (Beware!): Some heat protectants contain alcohol, which can negate their protective benefits. Look for silicone-based or oil-based heat protectants.
Knowing Your Hair Type: Choosing the Right Allies at Lyra Salon
At Lyra Salon, our experienced stylists can help you identify your hair type and recommend a personalized hair care routine with the perfect heroes for your needs. Here's a general breakdown:
Dry Hair: Focus on hydration heroes like humectants and emollients. Limit harsh sulfates and opt for gentle cleansing options available at Lyra Salon.
Oily Hair: Sulfates can be helpful for cleansing, but use them in moderation. Look for lightweight products and avoid heavy oils or butters. Our stylists can recommend the best options for you.
Color-Treated Hair: Use color-safe shampoos and conditioners readily available at Lyra Salon. Be cautious with harsh chemicals and opt for gentle cleansing and nourishing ingredients.
Curly Hair: Curly hair craves moisture, so embrace humectants and emollients. Consider products specifically formulated for curl definition and frizz control, which our stylists can help you choose.
Remember:
A healthy scalp is key to healthy hair! Look for ingredients that promote scalp health, like tea tree oil or rosemary extract, in products available at Lyra Salon.
Consult a stylist at Lyra Salon for personalized recommendations based on your unique hair type and needs. We're here to help you achieve your best hair yet!
