Car seat
GB Pockit Plus is a remarkable lightweight surrey for huge kid and appreciation to increasingly broad seat (when stood out from increasingly prepared model), taller and progressively settled youths may feel continuously great in it. GB Pockit Plus has various updates that watchmen were keeping things under control for, yet it remained nearly nothing and conservative. While the carriage is 3.5 lbs heavier than the past adjustment, it is still light and easy to pass on (only 13 lbs).
Cover size has changed only a pinch (around one inch in each estimation), so notwithstanding all that it consumes a little room and is definitely not hard to store. Hold it under the table in bistro, put behind the seat in little vehicle – it's beginning and end predictable. best car seat for 3 year old
Having such an insignificant carriage is amazingly great, in light of the fact that when your 4 or 5-year-old is revived and arranged to walk again, you can hurl crumbled GB Pockit Plus into your handbag.
What I like about this new model is the covering which was completely overhauled. Directly it's more noteworthy and balanced and truly does the duty – it disguises the newborn child from the sun. It's up 'til now not particularly long, in this manner it works best in most upstanding position.
Another supportive component that maker has added to the new GB Pockit Plus is the reclining backrest. Infant and preschooler get destroyed as well and to a great extent they like to lie back and rest or even rest. Right now is advantageous to have a reclining seat, especially on longer walks or day trips to Disneyland, etc.
Little deals amassing receptacle are still there – these part haven't been changed. GB Pockit Plus is commonly suitable for smooth surfaces and you can even push it with one hand on level black-top or indoor surfaces (like at the strip mall or air terminal). Moreover, it's so minor, it will easily fit and direct through limited store ways and swarmed air terminal or display lobby.
This surrey can suit kid up to 55 lbs. It weighs simply 9.5 lbs which makes it the most lightweight carriage for enormous kids. Moreover, it features most unobtrusive cover in the World! It folds into a little group which can without a lot of a stretch fit into hand stuff compartment on plane or it might be passed on in a pack.
GB Pockit is impeccable travel carriage for increasingly settled adolescents. It is plan for urban watchmen who are on the run with their kid. It's nearly nothing and light, yet especially solid and made of strong materials, so it can serve watchmen for couple of years.
Right when my daughter was multi year old (33lbs and 38in) in any case she had a great deal of room right now. I read many review of GB Pockit and various gatekeepers us it for 4 or 5-year-old youths. For me it's the best surrey for progressively prepared child.
This is logically exorbitant lightweight carriage anyway I decided to recall it for my situating, since it's made of top-nature of materials and can without quite a bit of a stretch hold 3 and 4-year-old youth.

The high-scope method is based on a series of key development indicators to design an encouraging classroom. This method has been used for around more than 50 years. In this approach, teachers choose activities and projects according to the age of every student. KPIs help teachers to understand the needs of young students and guide them accordingly.
In the High scope method, teachers act more as partners and fewer teachers to the students. They encourage development, conflict-resolution skills, problem - solving skills with the help of hands-on projects. This method allows children to plan how to complete a task, complete the job, and analyze the results. This is the plan-do-review sequence.

Mega Update!
It’s been nearly 2 years since I last posted on little old tumblr and my god has a lot happened since then. I am so so sorry for neglecting you all, I haven’t had a laptop to blog on and I hated the app until it was updated recently.
I won’t be posting as often as I used to but I will try my best to a few times a week if anyone would be interested in that?
Where do I even start? When I stopped posting, I think Harry was around 4/5 months old and Scarlett was 2. Well they’re now 5 and 3! All grown up and running circles around me, Scarlett started school last September and is absolutely loving it! I can’t believe she’s going to be six this year! To think I started this blog whilst I was pregnant with her 6 years ago around this time, time well and truly flies by when you’re having fun. Harry started preschool not so long ago and is loving it so much, he’s such a cheeky, loving little monkey and I can’t believe he starts school with his big sister next September!
I have a big announcement for people who don’t follow me on Instagram or have me on Facebook..
In the time I haven’t been on here, we were blessed with another little baby! So I am now a mamma of 3! We were blessed with another baby girl who was born on 15th January this year named Maddison she was born by emergency cesarean section as she flipped breech whilst I was in labour, and weighed 6lbs 15oz (for old followers you know how massive my other two were so that was quite a shock!) She’s now 10 weeks old and has completed our family in so many ways.
We also recently (December 17) moved from the southwest of England to the southeast of England! So we’re all settling into Surrey life, Damien and I are still engaged and eventually we’ll get married but we’re not in any rush. We’ve been together 5 year this coming July and are pretty much like an old married couple now 😂
If anyone’s interested I can post a pregnancy/labour and delivery post of Maddison later on in the week but for now that’s all the major updates! Missed you all lots! Thea x

As an Optometrist I want to understand that I am supplying a great eye test for all of my patients. But most people have no idea what constitutes a fantastic eye test and so settle for a poor test before being aware of it! To the typical consumer, one eye exam is pretty much the same as another, but as a practitioner I can guarantee you there's a radical distinction between what some practitioners do and a comprehensive eye exam and eyesight evaluation.
The Basic Social Network for Abasa Optical Eye Exam
Most eye care professionals may adequately supply a simple eye exam. This requires the dimension of your eyesight, which we predicted visual acuity, an evaluation of your eye health (eye and retina pressures) in addition to the prescription for your glasses. This can be done fairly fast if necessary, so Optometrists in commercial situations, whose earnings is directly dependent on the number of eye exams they perform in a day, often stop at this point since they just do not have the time to go farther.
For me personally as a practitioner, this represents the bottom rung on the eye care ladder, and the minimal requirement that any professional can offer.
Eye Health Checks in the Eye Exam
It should also be pointed out that not all of eye health checks will be the exact same either! A 10 second appearance at each retina using an Ophthalmoscope and a quick puff tonometry is all some eye practitioners offer, but I believe that so as to take care of our eyes and visual systems effectively for several years to develop, we will need to have more than that!
In our practice we not only inspect the retinae, but we also picture the patient's retinae and optic disks, occasionally in 3D. We check the front part of the eye (lids, cornea, lens and iris), analyzing structures and angles to make sure that everything is wholesome. We could also measure macular pigment density for macular degeneration, as well as eye pressure for glaucoma and visual areas, to make certain eyesight isn't being compromised in any area.
Many people don't realise that most eyes disorder stays completely unnoticed by the individual until it is too see page late, so it's important that we run careful and comprehensive eye exams on each patient be they young or old.
The Missing Element of the Eye Exam
1 part of an eye test frequently overlooked by patients entails the Optometrist interpreting The figures and measurements taken to supply the best visual approaches and solutions going forward. It isn't enough to simply churn out what your instruments have measured, because each person's visual requirements are exceptional and need to be thoroughly researched.
By way of example, a truck driver might need multifocals to drive and fill out forms, but these will be different than the multifocals demanded by a teacher who spends the majority of their day looking at novels. A surgeon may need a specific design of multifocal, different to what a housewife and mother needs. A pupil who is not long or short sighted may necessitate reading lenses to help them sustain their focus and eye coordination for long hours of study.
The oftentimes missing element of their eye exam is the optometrist talking to the individual, discovering exactly what they use their eyes for in their day, and tailoring the specific lenses to match their purposes. Abasa Optical It takes a little more time on the professional's part, but I think that this practice yields great fruit in many thousands of happy patients obtaining the very best out of their eyes and eyesight.
Even in the event that you've never had an eye examination (and if you haven't, you definitely should rush into your nearest ophthalmologist), you probably know a few of the processes - reading a chart of increasingly smaller alphabets stored at a distance, the eye doctor plugging in different powered lenses into a big, menacing looking device. As a child, an eye exam stuffed me with a specific feeling of dread and I don't think I've ever been over that.
So just what is an eye test?
It is essentially a series of tests done by an ophthalmologist, designed to determine an individual's ocular health condition. These evaluations may range from deciding the strength and health of eye sight (i.e. if you can see clearly without having glasses), determining the ability of your eyes (should you want glasses), testing for any frequent eye ailments, and checking for ailments like color blindness, irregular curvature of the lens, etc.).
An eye exam should be done only by a trained ophthalmologist. An optometrist can also conduct donate eyeglasses surrey bc an eye exam, but that could be limited to determining the power of your attention.
Routine eye examinations are recommended by all physicians as most eye disorders are curable. Further, many serious ailments like diabetes, hypertension, etc. may manifest themselves as ocular defects. Hence, they may assist in diagnosing other serious ailments early, paving the trail for easier treatment.
An eye evaluation typically begins with an examination of the outside characteristics of the eyes, like the eyelids, the cornea, sclera (the white region of the eye), etc.. Following that, the exam moves into a visual acuity test (i.e. a test of the eye's ability and ability to focus on close and far objects - the evaluation you're probably most familiar with).
The next test is a Pupil function evaluation to ascertain the health of the pupil and detect any damage (physical, neurological etc.). After this, an eye test may include a evaluation of ocular motility (i.e. testing the eye's why not check here ability to follow quickly moving objects, usually carried out once patients complain of double vision), and a evaluation of the visual field. There might be several different tests based on your very own ocular health.
Eye examination costs may vary from state to state and city to city. Typically, an eye exam may cost anything from $50 to $300 depending on the selection of tests done. Prices may be even higher if a patient is found to be suffering from some serious ocular condition that needs extensive testing.
A lot of men and women tend to ignore routine eye tests, despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle and getting regular complete body check-ups. As I've mentioned earlier in this guide, these may often reveal the existence of far more serious health conditions, therefore it is imperative for the sake of your own eyes in addition to your own body to get undergo regular eye examinations.

Too Many Children Taking Melatonin Dr. Mercola By Dr. Mercola Melatonin is an important hormone produced by your body's pineal gland. One of its primary roles is regulating your body's circadian rhythm. When it gets dark, your brain starts secreting melatonin (typically around 9 or 10 p.m.), which makes you sleepy. Levels typically stay elevated for about 12 hours, then, as the sun rises, your pineal gland reduces your production, and the levels in your blood decrease until they're hardly measurable at all. When your circadian rhythms are disrupted, such as from shift work, jet lag or nighttime light exposure, your body produces less melatonin. It's these instances when supplementing with small amounts of melatonin can be most useful, as it may help to reset your internal clock.1 However, a growing number of children are reportedly now taking the supplement to help them sleep, which could be associated with long-term risks. Melatonin May Help Children With Certain Sleep Disorders If your child has a unique medical need that makes nighttime sleep difficult, melatonin may be helpful and is likely safer than prescription sleep aids. One example would be children with autism, for whom sleep disorders are common and may intensify autistic symptoms. Melatonin has been found to help synchronize circadian rhythms and improve sleep quality and behavior in individuals with autism.2 Among children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and chronic sleep onset insomnia, melatonin was also found to be an effective therapy in 88 percent of cases even when used long-term, with no serious adverse events reported.3 Further, behavior and mood also improved in 71 percent and 61 percent of the cases, respectively. Most Children Should Be Able to Get a Sound Night's Sleep Without Melatonin For children who are otherwise healthy but struggle with bedtime on occasion, however, melatonin should be used with caution, if at all. "Most pediatricians know little about sleep or melatonin. For non-autistic children it is a fashionable treatment for parents wanting 'perfect' children," Dr. Neil Stanley, former director of sleep research at the University of Surrey, told The Guardian.4 While melatonin is thought to be relatively safe when used for short or even medium periods (up to 18 months), some children are taking the supplement for six or seven years. The long-term effects of melatonin on children are largely unknown, but there is some research that suggests it could interfere with the production of hormones related to puberty. According to one study, caution is warranted even in children with ADHD and chronic insomnia:5 "Very little systematic research has been done into the possible impact of melatonin intake on puberty and the endocrine system. Therefore, treatment with melatonin in children with ADHD and (C)SOI [chronic sleep-onset insomnia] is best reserved for children with persistent insomnia which is having a severe impact on daily functioning, particularly in cases where [there] is an obvious phase-shift of the endogenous circadian rhythm." There are, however, those who support its use, even among healthy children — 25 percent of whom are said to suffer from insomnia (this rises to 75 percent in children with neurodevelopmental or psychiatric conditions).6 According to a review published in the journal Canadian Family Physician, "For children with otherwise undiagnosed insomnia and healthy sleep hygiene, melatonin use should be considered. While melatonin seems to be safe, there is a lack of evidence for its routine use among healthy children."7 Proper Sleep Hygiene Should Be Addressed First There are concerns that a synthetic form of melatonin is being overprescribed to children who could improve their sleep using other methods, like adopting a regular bedtime routine. This may be as simple as pulling down your window shades, putting your child in pajamas, reading a story and turning on some white noise, followed by a hug and kiss.8 Behavioral modifications and attention to proper sleep hygiene should always be the first line of treatment if your child is having trouble sleeping, even before trying a natural supplement like melatonin. In particular, Canadian Family Physician suggested: 9 ✓ Napping during the day should be avoided ✓ Dinnertime should be at least two hours before bedtime ✓ Screen time (watching television, playing computer or video games) should be discontinued at least one hour before bedtime ✓ Regular bedtime routine including routine sleep and wake-up times should be maintained ✓ Children should sleep in their own beds ✓ Sleep environment should be dark and quiet; room should not be too hot ✓ Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol should be avoided Attention to light and darkness, at the appropriate times of day, is also important. Your body requires exposure to bright daylight, especially in the early morning, to produce healthy amounts of melatonin each night. Getting sunlight in the morning is one way to help reset your circadian clock daily. Ten to 15 minutes of morning sunlight sends a strong message that it's time to rise and shine. In this way, your body is less likely to be confused by weaker light signals later in the day. My rule of thumb is, if there is enough light in your bedroom at night to see your hand in front of your face, then there is too much light. Your body requires light during the day to produce healthy amounts of melatonin, but at night light inhibits production. So, it's difficult to get too much light during the day and easy to get too much at night. In addition to installing blackout drapes in your child's bedroom, avoid exposure to blue light at night and have your child wear blue-light blocking glasses after the sun sets. At What Age Should Your Children Sleep in Their Own Room? In 2016, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released their newest sleep guidelines for infants, intended to reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep-related infant deaths. In addition to putting babies to sleep on their back until 1 year of age, they also recommend both a firm sleep surface with no other bedding or soft objects and breast-feeding. In addition, AAP recommends that infants sleep in their parents' room, close to the parents' bed (such as in a bedside portable crib) for at least the first six months and ideally for the first year.10 In contrast, a study published in Pediatrics in June 2017 found that room-sharing at ages 4 months and 9 months was associated with worse sleep outcomes.11 Instead, babies who slept in their own rooms at prior to 4 months of age slept 40 minutes more a night than babies still room-sharing at 9 months.12 There's much controversy in this area, however, and how long your infant stays in your bedroom may depend on practical matters and personal preferences as well. Further, while health officials typically advise against bed-sharing with infants, some experts believe the practice of bed-sharing, when done safely and with a breast-feeding mother, may actually reduce the risk of SIDS and provide a safe sleeping environment.13 In case you're wondering how much sleep your child actually needs, here are the latest guidelines from the National Sleep Foundation (NSF): ✓ Newborns (0-3 months): 14 to 17 hours ✓ Infants (4-11 months): 12 to 15 hours ✓ Toddlers (1-2 years): 11 to 14 hours ✓ Preschoolers (3-5 years): 10 to 13 hours ✓ School age children (6-13 years): 9 to 11 hours ✓ Teenagers (14-17 years): 8 to 10 hours Sleep Tips From Fellow Parents Sometimes fellow parents have insightful tips to help children get to sleep. In an article posted on Growing Slower, one mom shared what finally helped her toddler get a good night's sleep, and it involved a long process of trial-and-error to find the right combination of "tricks" that worked for their family. Among them:14 ✓ Organic cotton sleepwear in lieu of synthetic and possibly irritating fabrics ✓ Immune-system support in the form of vitamin D, vitamins and omega-3 fats ✓ A teaspoon of coconut oil before bed, to curb hunger pains during the night ✓ Epsom salt baths prior to bed ✓ Magnesium oil, massaged onto the belly before bedtime ✓ A breast-feeding elimination diet as well as addressing food allergies and sensitivities in the child ✓ White noise (in the form of a fan) ✓ A predictable bedtime routine It's important to remember, too, that children sleep better when parents take an active role in creating a positive sleep environment. According to NSF, "When parents set and enforce sleep rules, children sleep longer."15 For instance, setting and enforcing a set bedtime and limit on how late your child can watch TV or use the computer may boost sleep by more than one hour a night. Being a good role model is also important, including limiting your own exposure to electronic devices and blue light at night and wrapping up your work prior to bedtime. Even doing homework too late at night may make it difficult for your child to fall asleep. "Make sleep a healthy priority in your family's busy schedule," NSF states. "Set appropriate and consistent bedtimes for yourself and your children and stick to them, and talk to your child about the importance of sleep for health and well-being."16 Boost Your Child's Natural Melatonin Before considering melatonin supplementation for your child, it makes sense to engage in habits that will increase your child's natural melatonin production and improve overall health. The tips that follow apply to both children and adults. ✓ Sunshine during the morning Melatonin is affected by your exposure to light and dark. When it is light, production of melatonin naturally drops. Getting at least 15 minutes of sunlight in the morning hours helps to regulate the production of melatonin, dropping it to normal daytime levels, so you feel awake during the day and sleep better at night. ✓ Sleep in the dark Your body produces and secretes melatonin in the dark, helping you to go to sleep and stay asleep. Sleeping in a completely darkened room, without lights from alarm clocks, televisions or other sources will improve your sleep quality. If you get up during the night to use the bathroom, it's important to keep the lights off so you don't shut off your production of melatonin. Also, wear blue-light blocking glasses after sunset to avoid blue-light exposure. ✓ Turn off your computer and hand-held electronics Although these are light sources, they deserve special mention as the type of light source from digital equipment may also reduce your body's production of melatonin in the evening when you need it most. Brightness and exposure to light in the blue and white wavelengths appear to affect the production of melatonin, exactly the wavelengths of light emitted from tablets, laptops and computers.17 To protect your sleep, put your computers and digital equipment away at least one hour before bed. ✓ Reduce your caffeine intake Caffeine, found in coffee, dark chocolate, cola and other drinks, has a half-life of five hours. This means 25 percent remains in your system 10 hours later. For a better night's sleep, cut out your caffeinated foods and drinks after lunch. ✓ Lower your stress level and your cortisol level The release of melatonin is dependent on the release of another hormone, norepinephrine. Excess stress, and the resulting release of cortisol, will inhibit the release of norepinephrine and therefore the release of melatonin.18 Stress-reducing strategies you may find helpful before bed include yoga, stretching, meditation and prayer. ✓ Increase foods high in magnesium Magnesium plays a role in reducing brain activity at night, helping you to relax and fall asleep more easily. It works in tandem with melatonin. Foods containing higher levels of magnesium include almonds, avocados, pumpkin seeds and green leafy vegetables.19
