Significance of Montessori Education in Early Childhood
What is exactly a Montessori Education?
Montessori Education is a child-centric educational approach that values the human essence and development of the children as a whole together with physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. A magnificent and revolutionary method of teaching and learning introduced by Maria Montessori, which has changed the face of education all across the world and is now in practice for more than a century. Montessori early education method cultivates children’s natural curiosity and emphasizes their independence, individuality and freedom.
Who is Maria Montessori?
Dr. Maria Montessori was a fierce Italian woman born on August 31, 1870, in Chiaravalle, Italy. She was a philosopher, educator and the first woman to graduate from the University of Rome Medical School. She had traveled the world and attracted many followers with her extensive writings about her approach to education. Following her medical training, she started developing her educational philosophy and methods in the year 1897 while attending pedagogy courses and learning education theories. Maria Montessori believes that a child’s development begins from birth and emphasizes the need for concrete objects to awaken the senses of a child. This practice can now be seen through mainstream educational philosophy and classroom practices.
What is the significance of Montessori Education in Early Childhood?
Montessori Education in early childhood plays a tremendous role in the social, mental and even physical build-up of a child. How? Here are some pointers that will comprehensively explain the significance of Montessori Education.
Dr. Maria Montessori wrote “The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement is being formed. But not only his intelligence; the full totality of his psychological powers… At no other age has the child a greater need of intelligent help, and any obstacle that impedes his creative work will lessen the chance he has of achieving perfection." This enables children to not only learn but develop a love for learning.

20 Playful and Creative Indoor Slide and Stairs Combination
Who says you cannot be playful inside your house? Of course, you can have fun with family and friends in different ways.
But how about adding a certain feature that will bring more fun to your home?
A gaming room would be nice where you can add a billiard table or a pool table. You can also allocate an area for computers.
But aside from that, there is an even more creative way to enjoy your home. Why not add a slide?
Most of the time, we can see slides in parks or in children’s play areas. Although they are meant for children, we can actually have one inside the house!
Can you picture how exciting it would be?
Yes, aside from being fun, it can also be used as another way to access the lower part of the house. In some homes, they add it right next to the stairs while others place it on other areas. Sounds fun, right?
Take a look at some homes that use a stair and slide combination”
1. Gibbes Street

Isn’t this beautiful? What you can see here is a curved wood staircase that has a slide built-in right next to it. This way, you are given an option for taking the stairs or the slide when you descend to the lower floor.

Aside from the wooden staircase, one can also use the metal slide to go down from the second floor of this apartment in Ukraine. It takes one down from the top floor right into the living room while passing through the kitchen on the way.

This may look like similar to your home’s staircase but what makes it extraordinary is the slide beside it. Also, the color names on the stairs and the red down arrow on the slide gives it another childish touch.
For sure these images made you feel excited about adding a slide into your home. They can be made out of plastic, wood or metal. Whatever they are made of, they will surely give you and your kids a fun way to go down from your home’s upper level! This will also bring out the inner child within us. Your guests will also be excited to visit your house because of your slides! This list will no doubt inspire you to add a slide in your home. But before you do that, see to it that it is okay to add one in your space. Don’t forget to consult the experts! Of course, you can add slides outdoor too! One of the most common places to add a slide is in your pool area.
