I'm curled up in bed with Le Covid and feeling pretty out of it, so obviously it's time for some Random Daredevil (Netflix) Opinions:
> Brett Mahoney is a great character and I wish we got to see more of him. Him and Foggy, him and Matt, him and Bess, just - gimme. Maybe some scenes from his POV, giving us a closer look at his thoughts on Daredevil, vigilantism, the state of Hell's Kitchen, the state of the NYPD, having so many of his colleagues turn out to be working for Fisk, etc.
> A flashback scene to the Incident, from the perspective of Hell's Kitchen residents, would have been cool. Wouldn't necessarily even have to include the main characters - just give us a sense of how it was for them. It was such a defining event for the neighborhood, you know?
> I don't believe the Netflix shows had to be referencing the greater MCU all the time, and I know it wouldn't have been part of the plot, but it would have been interesting to see Matt or Foggy or both talk some about the Sokovia Accords in the first episode or two of the Defenders (since that takes place not long after). Matt has to have so many thoughts and feelings on it as an Enhanced vigilante and a lawyer, same as Foggy as someone who keeps company with multiple Enhanced vigilantes and is a lawyer who specifically deals in their defense. Or maybe Foggy does - I haven't seen Luke Cage or Iron Fist, or S3 of Jessica Jones, so I don't know if it came up in those with him specifically discussing it. But either way, I'd really love Matt's take. The mega rant would be just *chef's kiss*
> Actually, it would have been cool to see the same from Karen. You just know she has some heated things to say on the subject, and it'd be cool to see her and Matt going off about it together, or maybe even work it in as part of a scene where Ellison gives her shit for 'that Accords op ed you wrote'
> Some kind of flashback scene to young Matt where we get to see him feeling connected to his neighborhood would also have been nice. His love of it and need to defend it is such a huge part of his character, but I feel like we don't get much in the way of seeing where that comes from.
> I headcanon that Claire shot Matt up with all kinds of heavy-duty antibiotics after the Fisk fight because dude fell into the Hudson with a bunch of wide-open wounds. The Hudson. Blech.

Ficlet: Bess Mahoney, Two Months Later(Daredevil)
Since her son and his friend went up in the dustcloud, Bess Mahoney has seen a lot more of the latter’s friends then she did when they were alive. To be fair, it started with them wanting to make sure she was okay, and Matt and Karen, and later Leo and Zach, have played a large role in helping her get through the hardest time in her life.
But now they’ve got her keeping three fugitives in her living room, including Jessica Jones, and the only reason there aren’t four is because Colleen Wing has insisted she can’t leave for at least another month or so. And now it turns out Matt has superpowers too, and he’s supposed to come back with the famous Inhuman Bess is still intrigued to see, in spite of everything.
But instead he arrives with only small cardboard box. “Agent Johnson’s been spotted in Hoboken. They’re sending in-I don’t even know, but it’s bad. Mr. Harrington’s two students understood the instructions and they put the nanotechnology together, but I don’t think she can get here without us all getting caught.”
“If we could get that to her,” says one of the refugees, “she could knock their stuff out without knocking out her own and fly off with everyone, right?”
“Yeah” says Jessica, “but we’ve got to go ourselves now, and I still think you should come with us, Matt. Karen and your kids could be on the road after us by six…”
“I told you, I’m not leaving when they still don’t know who I am. And Captain Knight’s really going to need me now, next time they try to classify her as superpowered. But…” He shakes his head. “She’s made clear to me she doesn’t want me spotted as Matt Murdock anywhere near any situations involved superpowers…”
“Would it be a problem if I was?” Bess hears herself asking, a moment before she realizes she has that thought.
It’s a crazy idea. There’s no way she can get there before the cops did if they were lucky or the army did if they weren’t. She has no idea how to smuggle things even in normal situations, let alone that one. She waits for someone to tell her that.
But Jessica’s just standing there. And then Matt, who’s had his eyes closed and is clearly listen to something, says, “If you went now and took the PATH trains, you could probably get to Hoboken Terminal before they stop the trains. I can still hear some police communications right now, and they’re not being efficient about this.” It’s still kind of unnerving, to actually witness him doing this.
He spends another moment or so silent again, before saying, “I can get to Stark Tower. They’ll allow me to send Agent Johnson a message telling her to expect you there, and they’ll crash out the security cameras. But don’t try to leave the station. Believe me, Mrs. Mahoney, if it wasn’t for how many refugees Agent Johnson has with her, I’d tell you not to do this at all.”
After that there’s little time for goodbyes. Bess puts the box in her bag, puts her shoes on, and hurries out. Getting an idea when she steps outside and sees a small piece of slate on the pavement, she grabs it and puts it in the box.
She gets to the train station without any trouble. But there’s no trace of Daisy Johnson on the platforms, and near the entrance, she instead finds cops setting up a barricade-not enough of them to keep their eyes on everything, though.
The first two people she asks questions of have no idea what’s going on. The third believes “that bitch Quake” busted out the terminal’s cameras. When she asks in response, “Is she in here or outside?” two different people give her both answers.
Most of the people now stuck in the waiting area are gathered as close to the barricade as the cops will allow. But all else aside, Bess is too old a woman who’s taken too long a trip to remain standing. Instead she seats herself at the other end of the fancy wooden seats, listening to the announcement that all trains in the area have been stopped. She already supposed she’d get stuck here for a while, but she’s holding out hope she’ll at least get home by the evening.
In the end, the all she gets to actually see of Daisy Johnson is a look at her eyes and brow, peering out from a closed ticket window. It’s a good thing she spent so much of the trip staring at a photo on her phone; she never would’ve recognized her otherwise. But she can also tell she’s looking at her.
When she takes the box out, after a quick glance confirms noone else is paying attention to her right now, Bess risks holding it up, in her clear sight, before placing it on the floor. Then she gets up and starts walking, craning her head as if she’s trying to get a glimpse of the barricades. When she’s on the other side of the waiting area she deliberately slips and falls, yelling as she hits the floor.
Three different people are immediately offering help, and a lot more are distracted. There’s nothing broken-she made sure not to land on her hip-but she’s genuinely grateful for the aid getting up. She makes sure to chatter as she rises, vague reassurances and thanks. She tries not to look too closely at the young man who reminds her of Brett.
She only gets one glimpse of the box, when she’s nearly up. By then it’s shuffling itself to the far wall, obviously being pulled by the piece of slate she put in it. She hopes Agent Johnson gets herself and it out of the station before she does whatever she’s going to do.
She dawdles just a touch, just to buy a little more time, before she sits back down, and waits.

Crossing the Styx (32806 words) by titC, PixelByPixel Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Daredevil (TV) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Matt Murdock/Elektra Natchios Characters: Elektra Natchios, Matt Murdock, Stick (Marvel), Sister Maggie, Brett Mahoney, Franklin "Foggy" Nelson Additional Tags: check end notes for spoilery warnings, Temporary Amnesia, Ninjas - Freeform, Fluff, Angst, meaningful tense changes, finding peace (or not), redemption (or not), family feelings (or not), working title: amnestick

Matt regretted fighting Brett, sometimes. Sure, if he’d been unmasked back then it would have been disastrous, but Brett was a good guy, a good cop. There weren’t that many in the Kitchen. It was better than it used to be, but he was one of the good ones and there were never enough of those. Still, he’d tried to apologize, sort of, when he’d asked Brett to claim Frank’s arrest. It had been the least he could do.
And Foggy’s Fake Feud with Brett never failed to make Matt smile, too. They bickered, they complained, they mocked, but they were very Romeo and Juliet, deep down: one cop, one lawyer; destined to be forever at odds, and yet… Well. At least there was no serenading. Foggy was a terrible, terrible singer.
Brett though, Brett was decent. Take him far enough away from Bess’s eagle eyes, pour a couple of beers down his throat, and then – then he could sing. And with a bit of luck, he’d also let slip some interesting precinct tidbits that may or may not be of interest to lawyers trying to make a living helping the innocent.
That night, however, Brett had an almost Halloweenesque tale to tell.
“I swear,” he said to his beer. Matt could hear it echo on the glass, just a little. “I saw it myself; the autopsy saw was right there, a little Zombie John Doe blood on it but not a drop that belonged to him anywhere else in the morgue.” Brett shuddered and drank some more beer. “The rest was all Cole’s.”

Good Evening City of Clans,
As we discussed on Discord, due to inactivity, we have decided to end the Starter Prompt early. On Friday, February 19th at 9 am CST we will be ending the Starter Prompt and dropping threads. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause muns and muses. Our dash has threads that have been open and ongoing since December. These threads are beginning to overlap. A mass thread drop will be refreshing and show the effects of the Starter Prompt.
To aid in making this transition smooth, we’ve attached a recap of the Starter Prompt and a few major events that have taken course since December. Below the ‘Keeping Reading’ will be every Original Character who has joined Chicago that might not be on written bios; Upcoming plots and major plots that are now set in motion; Full recap of the 10 Starter Prompts; and new main RPG links to check out.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions and/or concerns. Also, be on the lookout for our Favorites Prompt coming out on Saturday.
New Arrivals Update
The following people have arrived in Chicago since December.
Inez Sparks: Inez is a newly written human shifter that has been established in Chicago for decades. She might not have connections to prewritten bios but she has connections to the local human shifters. Please refer to her bios for these connections.
Gendry Kingsley: Gendry is a witch who is over a millennia-old. He has returned to Chicago after being gone for about a decade. He might not have connections to prewritten bios but he has connections to the local supernatural community. Please refer to his bios for these connections.
Siobhan Cooke: Siobhan is a newly written Kodiak Bear shifter who has lived in Chicago and been a part of Clan Heavy for her entire life. She might not have connections to prewritten bios but she has connections to Clan Heavy. Please refer to her bio for these connections.
Ella Greene: Ella is a newly written hyena that was born and raised outside of Chicago. She was recently bitten and turned into a hyena. She might not have connections to prewritten bios but she has connections to local Hyena Clan. Please refer to her bio for these connections.
Tiggy Krieger: Tiggy was scouted out by a local seeker, Emmett Wilhelm, to join the Chicago supernatural population. She is a warlock with the power of disintegration and is now mentoring under Garrett Cleirigh.
Luke Corvinus: Luke’s pack was killed senselessly by hunters. He is a coywolf who came to Chicago in search of Anton and has joined the Nimble Clan. He is debating joining the local Wolf Clan but refuses to do so without Anton.
Dante Parisi: Dante is a grizzly bear and a member of Michael Johnansen’s old pack. Dante alone with 36 moose, 20 assorted bears, 8 mountain goats, multiple families of bison, reindeers, and rams moved to Chicago and joined Clan Heavy after they had trouble adjusting in Wyoming.
Natasha Mahoney: Natasha is a human shifter that moved to Chicago from Nashville. She moved along with her sister to be closer with her long-distance boyfriend, Sirius Cobic, and to work as a supernatural lawyer.
General Plot Updates
Clan Rat has found out about the Underground being truly poisoned and the Vampire Seethe Master is asking for retribution from the entire clan for the damage and heartache they’ve caused.
The local Human Shifters have confessed that a handful of human cops, detectives, judges, and internal affairs (law enforcement) know about the Supernatural. While the immortal three could care less, a majority of the Animal Shifter Council is furious and are in the works of planning a Council meeting to discuss possible consequences.
The Lasiter Mark has officially been added to the Codex. Updates on the main are soon to follow.
Gretchen Sims has finally officially taken the head position of Clan Hyena. Nada Rajui has returned to his position as 2nd and Liaison.
Scorpius Getta has told the supernatural community about plans for Hotel Winona and asked for Witches and Warlocks to lend a hand.
Garrett Cleirigh has campaigned for the open warlock seat on the council and has been granted the seat.
Starter Prompt Recap
Below is a recap of what happened during the unfinished Starter Prompt.
Bess
Bess found out about vampires. Dan killed a Comic book store owner and Bess caught him in the act. Dan eventually convinced her to help him clean up the mess. He promised her they would see again before running from the freshly cleaned-up scene.
Bess has possibly found out about magic users. She found Lyra on the scene of a deadly B&E (breaking and entering). Lyra followed a spirit that was begging for help when Bess showed up. Lyra explained to Bess that she thought she heard someone in the backroom calling out for help before eventually teleporting away.
Bess found out about the supernatural. Inez was trying to cover up a hyena attack when Bess showed up on the scene. The owner of a Comic Book store was bitten and in the process of changing as Inez tried to come up with a cover story for Bess. During this Bess was attacked by a shifted hyena whom Inez shot dead as a result. Bess was bleeding from the head when Inez reported that there was an officer down and that they needed an ambulance. Inez stayed on the scene to explain things to the responding human shifter cop.
Ainsley
Rhiannon found Ainsley as a fox and took her home to heal her. She believed her to be a real fox and was simply wanting to help out an injured animal. Ainsley shifted back to her human form once Rhiannon had her healed and Rhiannon offered her a change of clothes and a ride back to her home.
Patch found a fox being attacked by a wild coyote and saved her. He brought her home and cared for her thinking she was a real fox. He eventually called on Judson to help him and it was an awkward moment when he found out his new pet, Maid Marian, was actually Ainsley from Clan Nimble. Judson volunteered to take Ainsley home as Patch wrapped his head around having bathe a grown woman in her shifted form.
Peter saved Ainsley from a coyote attack. He caught the color of her white eyes earlier on and knew she was a nimble shifter. He talked her into shifting back to her human form but Ainsley soon passed out after. Giving her his jacket, Peter took her to the hospital and contacted Clan Nimble. He stayed long enough to give a police report and retell the story to Percy before leaving.
Conrad
Lyra was found by Ben’s ghost and led to where Conrad was laying. She decided to help him out of the Underground, and this led to Conrad finding out that Lyra could speak and see Ben, who had died over a year ago. Lyra explained that her powers allowed her to see and speak with the spirits of the dead.
Conrad was found unconscious and naked by Kris, who ran to Jaxson and Sam, who were visiting the Underground, for help. Jaxson took charge of the situation and ordered an evacuation of the Underground. Jaxson and Sam started to feel symptoms of whatever poison that was still lingering around Conrad as they carried him out of the Underground. Kris was waiting for them when they got out and drove them to one of the safehouses.
Getta, Petra, and Sadie found Conrad unconscious and naked Underground. Getta ordered one of their magical healers to heal Conrad. They explained to Conrad what happened to him and the poisonous gas that plagues the Underground. Geta got in contact with the Human Shifter to escort Conrad out of the Underground, after having Conrad sign a waiver, acknowledging that he was not attacked by anyone Underground.
Winnie found Conrad naked and unconscious in the Underground. She woke him up with her powers and after the two realized one another were Supernaturals he trusted her enough to get him out. Conrad shifted and Winnie carried him out in her pocket. He had her drop him off not far from a safe house. After she left he scurried in and passed out again.
Kudzai found Conrad naked and unconscious in the Underground. She teleported him to her home and began healing him. After he regained consciousness, Kudzai contacted Nick who came to pick him up.
Monty
Emmett got Monty to help with his search for a dangerous witch he was searching for. She was arrested and punished by the Council. Patch and Monty are tasked with coming up with a cover-up story for the Nimbles News report and their own police and autopsy reports.
Duke was taken to Isaac. Monty did not believe that Duke had a twin brother that was the culprit. Isaac explained that Duke indeed had a twin brother and asked for the charges for the destruction of property to be dropped.
Asa was taken to Clara. Clara’s reaction wasn’t the best, therefore, Monty didn’t stick around for long and made sure to erase all evidence.
Ebony was taken to Alexus who happened to be with Grant at the moment. Monty told them of what happened that there will possibly be charges rung up against her if the animal shifter wanted.
Kudzai
Asa was injured due to Ebony but got away. He was found on the side of the road where he had fallen and was taken to the ER where Kudzai worked. She performed surgery on him and he is mending.
Zack was injured in a clan dispute. Kudzai healed Zack’s minor injuries enough to wake him up and ask a few questions before preparing him for surgery. Zack asked for his wife, Sarah, to be called and waited for her to arrive before proceeding with the procedure. Zack had a bruised liver and had to have an exploratory laparoscopic procedure to examine the extent of the damage. Kudzai surgically and magically fixed Zack’s severe blood loss, a forming infection, and a slight problem forming in his bile ducts. The procedure was successful but Zack remained in the hospital under Kudzai care for a few days. Since Zack refused to age, Kudzai, with the help of Rhiannon had to slowly heal him and make it look like he was aging to trick the on-duty human nurses.
Peter was injured in an attack by fellow wolves who were attempting to take his position. He allowed Kudzai to begin to heal him and asked that she contact Garrett Cleirigh. Who quickly teleported there and teleported Peter away. There was no discharge order and no patient, so Kudzai had to come up with a cover story, causing more tension between the two council members.
Cassandra was unconscious when she arrived. Kudzai made quick work of healing her and contacted her emergency contact Helenus. Kudzai has asked that Cassandra return for a checkup since the reasoning behind her unconsciousness was inconclusive.
Ebony
Helo was setting up new surveillance for CAMO when Ebony came out in full gear and began running after him. He eventually played it off like he was human, and swore not to tell anyone she chased him if she let him go. He is unsure if she bought the ruse or not. Ebony doesn’t fully buy Helo’s story and plans on getting security surveillance up soon. She has also reached out to her neighbors about a suspicious kid around the neighborhood that she thinks might break in; knowing they will more than likely call the cops if he shows his face around there again.
Ebony has made it aware that she wants to take over the family and went on a hunt to prove her intentions. Sam saw Ebony prowling around the younger Jackal shifters she was watching and decided to lead her off of them. This led to a chase in the park where the two women fought. Sam was able to change into her rat form and slip away from the hunter. She sustained mild injuries but declined to admit how she got them to others in her pack out of embarrassment that a hunter got some hits in. Ebony is trying to figure out what kind of supernatural the girl was. One moment she was there and another moment she had vanished. She is hoping to trail the girl in the future and find out more.
Ebony was chasing Asa on a hunch that he was an animal shifter. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it but she was guessing that he was something big and powerful by the way he moved through the trees. Ebony eventually caught up with Asa and held his attention with a crossbow pointed at his heart. She was able to do a brief interrogation before Asa attacked then gave her the slip. Asa made it to the ER with a crossbow injury and a few other cuts and bruises.
Lyra
Neaera got a recording of Lyra performing a ritual in the woods. While Lyra was able to bind the spirit but she didn’t finish her ritual due. Neaera played dumb and ran from the scene. She replayed what she got to Ray and Louis. GOLD plans on returning to the scene of the ritual to see if they can gather more information and they also plan on putting an expert group on Lyra.
Talia walked in on Lyra performing a ritual by chance. The disruption was enough for one of the spirits to escape. Talia and Lyra spent the entire night recapturing the escaped spirit. Lyra finished her ritual but it was under the close watch of Talia and Roman; whom Talia talked Lyra into calling.
Averill watched Lyra work from the darkness of the woods, randomly, but a scream from somewhere else distracted the both of them. They would later find out it was a scream from a hunter hunting down an animal shifter. Lyra had asked that Averill help her catch the elemental spirits that escaped during the short distraction for her ritual. The two formed a somewhat awkward bond while hunting down and summoning the last two spirits needed for the ritual.
Ken
Ken managed to get out of the Underground without too many consequences thanks to Arthur. He called Judson once out of the Underground and Judson teleported to his aid. Once Judson saw that it was Arthur that had helped Ken, Ken learned that Arthur was a good friend of Roman’s, who had made Ken’s work life a living nightmare.
Isabetta was unaffected by Ken’s powers. She easily picked him out of the crowd as the possible culprit which Ken confessed to and had no power over what was happening. Offering to help him out and into a Lyft or Uber, Isabetta and Ken made their way out of the underground while avoiding people who were obviously affected by his power. Ken may have given Isabetta his number and address as a thank you gesture. He also offered to get her a wine bottle filled with the blood of an aged witch or warlock with the power of her choice.
Rachel was working on her homework Underground when she noticed all of the non-vampires were acting strange. She was ready to bold, not wanting anyone to think she had anything to do with it when she nearly tripped over Ken. They met before and striking up a conversation wasn’t hard. Rachel found out that it was Ken causing all of the commotions and that his powers don't work on her. With the help of Fiona and Aleksander, Rachel was able to help Ken from the Underground and contact Simon who took Ken home.
Skylar
Skylar accidentally pulled water out of Kate’s water bottle. She witnessed the water act almost animatedly and when Skylar ran into the nearest store, Kate followed. There she was met with the sight of her long-term crush, Ryan Cleirigh. He sent Skylar away to Judson and then invited Kate up to his apartment to explain what she saw.
Skylar lost control of her powers when she found out she was locked out of her apartment building. Minsky tried to help her calm down but Skylar’s magic had the best of her. She saw Minsky as a threat and the key her magic was forming eventually turned into a knife. Minsky managed to talk her down and Skylar apologized before making a run for Judson’s shop. She explained what happened to Judson, who gave her Minsky’s number, and Skylar personally called him to apologize again.
Fenrin saved Skylar from exposing herself when she accidentally used her magic in public. He triggered a fire hydrant to go off and made his escape with Skylar. Both had heard of each other from mutual contacts caused Skylar to be more relaxed than she would have with anyone else. Fenrin offered to buy her a coffee to calm her nerves as she waited for Audo, Ryan, or Judson to return home. Fenrin and Skylar talked about their shared powers and got to know each other.
Kudzai witnessed Skylar’s accidental magic. Being older and a Council member, Kudzai was able to send a spell causing the water to evaporate. She and Skylar walked around the block before Kudzai offered to teleport inside of Skylar’s apartment. While they were walking, Kudzai was able to calm Skylar’s nerves and assure her that things like that happened all the time. Skylar has never thought about joining the medical field but they had exchanged numbers and Kudzai told Skylar to contact her if she ever wanted to talk about it.
Skylar’s magic had a mind of its own and unknowingly pulled coffee from two Starbucks cups Lyra was holding to form a key for her apartment. Lyra’s soothing and calming tone helped Skylar calm down enough to stop her oncoming panic attack. With instructions from Lyra, Skylar was able to place the coffee back into the coffee cups but insisted on buying Lyra new ones.
Michael
Asa heard about what was happening at the zoo and went to help Michael with crowd control. Michael and Asa lost sight of each other when the human shifters finally stepped in after someone tried to climb over a gated area. However, when Michael returned to the Hotel, and sought out Asa and thanked him for his help.
Clara saw Michael’s speech and the outcome on social media. She went to help but somehow the two got into a heated dispute. A few choice words were said and Michael has been avoiding Clara like a plague.
Hailey lost track of where she was and ended up in a rioting crowd that Michael was trying to talk the crowd down and keep the peace. Michael explained what was happening to her but was quickly pulled away from her by someone else.
Ebony was tracking someone to the zoo when she ran into the big crowd. Michael tried to explain what was happening to her but she clearly wasn’t buying what he was selling. Michael doesn’t know she’s a hunter but wrote down his Twitter information on a flyer he gave her. He would like to continue to pick her brain but it is only if she follows him or reaches out to him.

Could I bother you for any sad or cute foggy/Matt headcannons for any of your verses? I just love them so much ❤️
Hi anon!
You’ve really done it now lol. I don’t have headcanons rn, but I do have some scraps from a couple of different fics that haven’t made the cut for you.
I’ll pick one from each category, I think? It’s gonna be a long post friends! Sorry mobile users ❤
Inimitable: Foggy is homesick.
It was a busy night. A fun night. And when everyone had gone back home, the house felt so quiet and empty that Foggy almost wanted them back.
He pressed the bridge of his nose into Matt’s warm back and breathed through the heartache. Matt caught his hands and squeezed them and then rolled over so that Foggy was pressing his face against the center of his chest.
“I miss home,” Foggy admitted to that chest. Right to Matt’s heart. Where home had always been hiding.
“Me too,” Matt said.
“I miss our families.”
“Me too.”
“I’m not ready to go back yet. I don’t want to lose you again. I always lose you to the city.”
Matt’s chest expanded as he breathed in, and he cupped hand behind Foggy’s head. Pulled him in closer. Impossibly close.
“You are my home,” he said. “And you can’t lose me to the city anymore, ‘cause I have better things to protect than the concrete and glass in ten fucking blocks.”
Foggy was gonna cry.
“I wanna go home,” he hiccuped.
“Two years,” Matt said out of nowhere. “Why don’t we try for two more years? And if we still want to go home, we’ll go home.”
Two years.
“I love you,” he sniffed into Matt’s sternum. “I love you so much. Thank you.”
Matt squirmed down to that he could press his scratchy cheek into Foggy’s. So that they could share some tears.
“Don’t thank me for being selfish,” he said. “This benefits me, after all. Dave’s doing a shit job out there, bless him.”
Foggy laughed.
“You just said—”
“I ain’t promised shit. Just because I got better things to protect don’t mean I got the sense to.”
He couldn’t stop laughing.
This fucking guy.
“Gonna give me an aneurysm.”
“Ehn. I’ll dig out the helmet.”
“Oh god, not the helmet. I thought we moved past the horns.”
“Oh, but they’re so cute. You called them cute—are you telling me you’re a liar, Mr. Nelson?”
“Yeah, 100%.”
“Wow. Hey.”
“Yeah?”
“What do you think—”
“We do not need another puppy, Matthew. For fuck’s sake. Alright, moment over. You’ve ruined it. Go to sleep, you fucking asshole.”
Matt’s laugh would fill that hole in his heart for now.
Earth-65: Murderdock used to self-harm
Matt had scars across his ribs and back in patterns which looked like palm fronds laid over each other. These, Foggy was not allowed to touch.
He was allowed to snake his fingers up Matt’s hips. To skirt them across the mostly smooth skin that stretched from the peak of his hip to the bottom of his ribcage. He was allowed to sink his thumbs into that skin and to press and pull and knead.
He was not allowed to nip or bite any of that expanse.
Teeth were allowed in the juncture of Matt’s thigh and pelvis. They were allowed to graze his collarbones and shoulders. They were most welcome up at the top of his throat, where they could elicit both soft sighs and harsh breathing.
But they and all fingers were to steer clear of the palm fronds.
Foggy asked once where the fronds came from and got nothing.
He asked where the lines across Matt’s belly came from and was given an image in the form of a knife. He asked about the gnarled knot just right of Matt’s navel and learned the caliber of the gun which had fired a bullet into that place. He asked about the row of lines that crawled up Matt’s knee and learned of a fight gone south and a man twice Matt’s size dropping his weight on that twisted kneecap.
He asked of some fronds on Matt’s thighs and his face was brought up, up, up all the way for a kiss.
Matt didn’t say, but he kissed and told.
Those textured gills left a special ache in Foggy’s throat.
Electric Sheep: Clint thinks Matt’s name is Foggy because that’s all he ever seems to say or want when his processor is compromised.
Foggy wanted his suit and the earpiece back. He did his weird half-breathing thing when Clint put them in a box while on the phone.
He shushed the bot and gave him his hand to hold instead.
This brought on curiosity.
“Foggy?” Foggy asked the hand.
“No, that’s you,” Clint told him, willing Barnes to pick up his damn phone already. “I’m Clint, remember?”
“Pilot.”
“No, Clint.”
“Pilot.”
“No, no. Clint. Can you say ‘lint?’”
“Affirmative.”
“Okay, so say ‘lint.’ But put a ‘c’ on the front of it.”
“Affirmative.”
“No, buddy. Say it.”
“It.”
“Oh my god,” Clint breathed as deeply as he could.
“Not quite,” a voice said in his ear.
“Oh, thank god,” Clint amended. “JB, I fucked up. I need your help.”
In Technicolor: Foggy’s going behind Matt’s back to make friends with Sister Maggie
“Franklin, I’m disappointed in you,” Mom lectured with hands on her hips for the second time in one day.
Foggy gave Brett a look which promised pain and mass embarrassment at the next possible moment.
“You,” he said, “Are a snitch. That’s why the night crew won’t tell you shit, Mahoney.”
“Foggy!”
“Yes, ma’am,” Foggy said to Mom. “Sorry, Bess. It’s cool, me and Sister Maggie are building bridges. We’re like this.”
He showed Mom twisted fingers.
“Does Matthew know you’re talking to her?” Mom demanded.
Foggy scowled.
“Franklin.”
“Yes and no,” Foggy admitted. “But he’s chill with Karen and her talking, so what’s the big deal if it’s me instead of Karen, huh?”
Mom stared his optimism into the dirt.
“It is one thing for women to discuss these things, Franklin, it is another for a man to insert himself into the conversation,” she said.
Foggy scowled harder.
“Okay, so first of all, gender is a construct, so jot that down, and second of all—”
Brett was ending this interaction before Fogs lost all of his dignity in one fell swoop.
“He’s gonna fess up and apologize, Ma,” he said over Foggy’s noise-making. “Aren’t you?” He stared pointedly at the guy.
Foggy grumbled.
“I don’t see why—”
“Aren’t you, Foggy?”
Foggy grumbled harder, then pouted.
“I guess,” he groaned.
And one last one for now. This is actually a tiny piece of an AU I started where Foggy is a grim reaper and Matt becomes one of the spirits he’s supposed to shepherd. Unfortunately, Matt is bad at being shepherded. I dropped it, but I’m kind of charmed by it still, so here, have a preview:
“Hello?” he said.
“Hi,” Foggy responded. “Matt Murdock?”
Matt tipped his head around, searching for the source of the sound.
“That’s me,” he said.
“Glad to hear it. My name’s Franklin Nelson, I’m your reaper. Can you confirm your address for me?” Foggy said.
Matt cocked his head the other way.
“Beg your pardon?” he said.
Foggy berated himself for assuming that Matt would remember anything prior to his ordeal.
“Nelson,” he repeated. “Franklin Nelson. You’ve switched sides, my man. Welcome to the other side of humanity; I’m your reaper—think of me as your case worker. I keep track of you until you’re ready to pass on for good.”
Matt stared past him and blinked.
“I’m not fucking dead,” he decided was the appropriate response to that explanation.
“I noticed,” Foggy said. “Also noticed that I didn’t say ‘dead,’ I said ‘turned.’ We got a different division for reapers for dead folks. You gotta have a certain presence for it, which I have been told I am lacking.”
Matt’s forehead creased as he processed that. Then he finally, finally seemed to hear the insults. He started moving his head all around as though following the echoes.
“Is that Dad?” he asked.
Mmmmmmm.
“We were hoping that you could tell us that,” Brett said. “I’ve got a report here from—”
“Are you a cop?” Matt asked.
Brett took a moment.
“Detective,” he said. “But—”
“There are reaper-cops?” Matt asked Foggy’s way.
“There are reapers of every kind you can imagine,” Foggy said. “It’s far less glamourous than you think.”
Matt furrowed his brow at that and went back to following his father’s voice bouncing around the room. Brett looked pointedly at Foggy in a ‘that’s your client’ type of way.
Foggy sighed.
“Mr. Murdock,” he said. “Your father has been possessed by—”
“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Matt interrupted.
Foggy felt like his tongue was glued to the top of his mouth.
“You know?” he said.
“That’s not my dad,” Matt sighed. He patted at his chest and made a sound of disgust at the clothes he was wearing.
“Where—do you know where your dad is then?” Foggy asked.
Matt tsked.
“He should be trying to deal with our devil,” he said.
There was a pregnant pause.
“I got bad news for you, bud,” Foggy said.
Matt sent a boiling face just past him.
“That’s not our devil,” he said. “It’s a devil. Not a demon. They’re different. Ours has been in the family for ages. I know it and I know Dad. That’s how I know that thing’s not either of them.”
That’s it for now friend! I hope this brings you pain/joy whatever it is you’re looking for!

17 and 20 for the fic recs meme!
17. ✨ A fic you wish you could read again for the first time
Bess Will Outlive (and Outsmart) Us All by Mytay
It's Bess Mahoney POV and she's in a matchmaking mood! What more could you want?
20. 💖 A drabble that made you want 100K more words
A Striking Resemblance by avocado-at-love (domesticaffliction)
From my bookmarks: "darkfic (dark!Foggy) soulmate AU featuring some excellent trope subversion"
I'm not sure I need 100K more words of this because it's perfect as the 722-word nugget that it is and the impact of its subversion of soulmate AU tropes wouldn't be as straight to the point and impactful, HOWEVER I do think it would certainly be interesting to see some of the events that led up to Foggy going dark like this and some of what comes after, too.
