fame < infamy
< w. @besaea >
next gen’s over. done and gone-- which means half of his friends are released from mnet’s clutches so he can actually see them again. the catch is that some are going to be signed. which is a whole other type of dungeon that stevie knows will take up most, if not all of their time.
so naturally, the moment he can monopolize saea’s time, he does. as he rides up to the skatepark on board, he’s got one of those little party streamer horn things in his mouth, and once he rolls up close enough to saea, he blow it at her, the little think honking out annoyingly as he grins around it.
“congrats on your epic win.” he braces one foot on the ground as he comes to a stop, plucking the little party toy out of his mouth. “and you signing your life away.” he tacks on cheekily, reaching out to wrap an arm around her shoulders in a brief hug. he makes a sharp inhale, and then croaks out in a trembling, watery voice (that sounds more like laughter than anything else), “i’m gonna miss you~” he fake sobs. “remember me when you’re famous.”

a starter for @besaea !! ( all this effort to make it look effortless )
with the finale of next gen up, it becomes a waiting game. each morning is spent scanning over the familiar faces of her training group to see any new ones. she’s unnecessarily tense about it-- but change is happening and yuji has to be ready for it. even though she knows all of them, some way or another-- the appearance of them instills a sort of prickly feel in her that won’t go away until the wait is over.
and she doesn’t wait long at all. the new additions faces are some of the first she sees in the morning-- but she waits until long into the day to garner up the courage to approach. when her mind is more awake, her thoughts more in order; when there’s a bit of a moment to breathe between lessons. approaching sarang is easy enough, comfortable and familiar.
the girls are a little more difficult for her-- just in the nature of the training atmosphere and yuji’s overthinking mind of a potential debut on the rise. but in the end, yuji decides to go with saea first. comes up to her slowly in the lull of things and holds an extra water bottle out to her, reminiscent of the first time they met. “isn’t this a small world,” she muses, offering a small smile when their eyes meet. “hi. congrats on your contract.”

secretly a spy
perhaps during the prior mission noel had almost forgotten this was a survival show. there wasn’t anyone that had gotten kicked yet, and probably lucky for noel because he hadn’t managed to place above the bottom two. it was just for fun in the beginning, but slowly the male was beginning to take it more and more seriously. he hadn’t been dancing for long, and singing and rapping was something that he hadn’t even considered. he most likely managed to get in based on luck, and if he didn’t improve soon he would probably be eliminated very soon. this time around though, if he failed it didn’t just affect him, but now he had teammates too. it was all a bit stressing, the male who could barely dance having to learn a new dance so quickly.
and not all of his time could be spent on the dance for the next mission, because apparently they were performing my turn on mcountdown now. he’s staying late behind, having said goodbye to his teammates, he figured maybe he should practice my turn a bit more, after all, his last performance of my turn ranked him in the bottom two. saea ( @besaea ) is staying late behind too, so the two have ended up in the same practice room. he goes over some moves slowly, counting the steps, then he turns his head and looks at saea “so how is it going with your team during this mission?”.

growing pains | @besaea
cam feels a little breathless, not so much in anxiety but a need to get where he's going as soon as possible and can only focus on that. the episode had aired and it took a while for cam to get over his nerves to watch it, not wanting to see how much of a fool he'd made of himself and definitely not wanting to hear any backlash surrounding him getting back into being an idol again. if anyone insinuated he was taking a place of someone more deserving he would probably cry, in private.
he needs to find charlie. having to go through the first bits of training was hard enough, having to focus in order to process the song and choreo they would do when all he wanted to do was talk to his sister was painful. she had placed so high, his chest felt like it was going to burst from pride. it felt so silly like he was her dad or something, ew, but he'd witnessed her grow up and learn things and she'd always been such a pillar in his own life and journey through music that watching her on a tv show was a little insane.
cam's truly not expecting to catch her so early in the day, expecting to go grab some flowers and show up at her place and congratulate her, but luck is on his side for once and he catches a flash of her going into a studio room.
"miss charlotte charlie saea moon." he leans against the doorframe and pouts at her. "miss showstopper, dancewhiz, yoojung in the making" he continues the obscene pouting and blinks dramatically. "why did i find out you auditioned by seeing you on actual television?"

in the recent months, yuji’s been a lot more open to receiving criticism. in asking for help in areas that she feels that she’s been struggling in. it hurts to hear sometimes, and it only further adds to her overworking habit– but it helps out, in the end. any set of eyes helps– and after bugging her teammates and the trainers more than she feels is needed, she seeks out saea, who she knows has a talent for dance.
she steels herself up for the critique, knowing that it’ll narrow down to something she’s struggling at. and saea delivers– prompt and quickly. yuji’s eyes are sharp and intense, watchful of each motion of the other’s form in the mirror as she demonstrates. she sees the issue, a frown marring her face as her eyes direct back to her own reflection.
“okay,” she breathes; does a light count under her breath as she replicates the move again, keeping track of her count, mindful of saea’s advice. setting up for another repeat, she rewinds the song a bit to few verses before; and attempts it one more time. this time, feeling a lot less clunky to her. yuji still needs to work on timing, she feels, but she turns her head to stare at saea, catching her breath. “closer? should i go again?”
YUJI ✨
even better. yuji listens to only a handful, so that’s a fact she’ll store away from the future. she knows where she’ll go again into the future. she cracks a small smile at the joke, huffing out a tired laugh. “i came to the right person then.” yuji muses, placing her hands on her hips. she lucked out.
she lets out a relieved sigh when saea moves to sit. “thank you,” she yuji shoots the other a grateful expression, turning around quickly to prepare. “my timing is off. i’m not sure if i’m skipping over a move or i’m just– overcompensating speed for the beat? i don’t know.” yuji huffs. she opens the original song on her phone and plays it from it’s speakers, squatting so she can set it down and move into position.
she waits until the chorus, and then steps into the beat, eyes watching her reflection for any missteps, while trying not to think too much about saea analyzing her. once she’s finished the chorus part, she pauses for a moment, catching her breath. yuji’s eyes catch saea’s in the mirror, head cocking to the side. “was i on beat?”
she settles comfortably on the ground, or as comfortably as she can and she waits for yuji to set up everything to prepare to dance. she’s actually very impressed, if she’s honest, that the older girl came right up to her to ask for a second opinion. she’s not one to be super proud or anything, but she knows a lot of people who would rather die than ask someone else’s opinion on something. especially since she’s technically the newcomer in the whole training thing.
once the song starts, saea pays close attention to every move that yuji does. it’s a song she knows well and one that she actually does know the dance to and she watches carefully to see where something might be going wrong.
oh. she sees it.
once the older trainee stops moving, they make eye contact in the mirror and saea is quick to get on her feet afterwards. “okay so at this part,” she demonstrates the move, “you’ve kinda blended two moves together quickly so you’re like. uh. half a beat fast,” she says, moving to stand properly. “if you do it like this,” she shows the moves slowed down and separate, “it’ll be better.”

don’t close your eyes. don’t fall asleep. moon jinyoung performs tales of the unusual with @besaea, @bejoomi, & @behyejin for next gen finale
this is it. in front of a live audience, the fate of moon jinyoung’s oldest and most carefully defended dreams will be decided. there’s already cold sweat down his back, perspiration he desperately tries to replace as he gulps water backstage. makeup feels heavy on his face, the blood and gore mixed into this concept feeling too sticky, too thick, too much. or maybe it’s just that he’s extra sensitive right now. really, all jinyoung wishes is that he felt better prepared.
it’s not that he hasn’t practiced. no, he’s done nothing but practice over the last several weeks. but it was never right. it was never as perfect as he hoped it would be. desperation and distraction had been his enemies and basic self-care put on a back burner as he instead focused on perfecting every little mistake he made over and over and over. he’s still not certain he’s at the level of consistency he’d like to be at this point. but there’s nothing more he can do.
he glances at his teammates. are they feeling as desperate as he is? hyejin, saea, even joomi... jinyoung has the sense that it’s his responsibility not to let them down either. he’s used to failure, rejection. are they? as much as he wants this, he knows how to pick himself up and recover and try again another day. do they? joomi might be, he thinks distantly. saea and hyejin he genuinely doesn’t know.
maybe it’s strange to care about others at this point in the competition. there’s only one winner, but jinyoung doesn’t think he’d care whether he got to choose any company or only one wanted him. it’d still be a step in the right direction. but all that said... there’s still the chance of no one actually wanting him as a trainee right now. he’s a good dancer, he knows that much, but his muscles are sore and achey from weeks of relentless rehearsal. he’s learning to be a better singer, but is he good enough? he’s not so sure.
when their team is called up to the stage, he feels the anxiety take root in his gut. as much as he tries to swallow it down, breathe it out, it remains. silently, he reaches for the nearest hand next to him, not really paying attention to who it may be. he squeezes it, reassurance to himself, and tries to remember not to chew his lipstick off of his face with his nervous habits.
the stage, the lights... it’s everything he’s ever wanted. but this could very well be his last chance, his last performance on this scale. if that’s the case, then jinyoung needs to make it count.
but he really can’t remember what happened up there.
it’s like he went into autopilot, like his brian completely shut off to save him from the stress he puts on himself; the need to be better than perfect, so good that the audience can’t help but vote for him and the judges have to want him in their companies.
all he knows is that he made it through without injury and out of breath. he can feel in his throat that he was singing his hardest— but was it good? he can feel in his limbs that he pushed himself with each move, but were they done on-beat and correctly? the audience cheers around him, the sound deafening, and he manages to smile, still breathless, and wave to the mass of screams and glimmering lights. he presses a hand to his forehead, wiping the sweat from his brow. hopefully it was enough.

next gen ep 5 plotcall & tracker
back at it again! you know the drill, in this post i’ll keep track of everything i owe and also sum up how my muses are feeling and what they’ll be doing for plotting purposes! please like this post to plot! i also may or may not end up bugging people for sports day group chats so we can sort stuff out as a team too, we’ll see.
JOOMI
joomi is actually really happy. he got to show the One Thing he thinks he’s good at (songwriting) on this last episode and got so many compliments on it, and his team even won! joomi’s confidence is nearing an all time high, which granted, still isn’t that high because joomi tends to lack confidence, but still. he’s in good spirits, but is not looking forward to performing my turn again or sports day. he’ll do his best to have a good time but will likely be on the sidelines as much as possible. he is Not physically fit at all.
THREADS: @besaea (3/4) LETTER SOLO: complete! INTERVIEW SOLO: incomplete
NAYOUNG
nayoung, on the other hand, is the exact opposite of last episode. where she was first place and eliminations went exactly as she wanted last episode, this time she got singled out for essentially being too selfish when assigning parts. ran, at least in nayoung’s mind, told her she didn’t act like a good leader when it came time to stand on stage. she’s a little confused; after all, she was first place, shouldn’t it make sense for her to have the most parts? but she is Thinking about it and trying to take the criticism to heart and worry a little more about other people (in a kind sense) when it comes to team activities. she’ll probably have fun during their sports day, though. she’s a former figure skater, and while she took a long break from that (and dancing), so she’s a Bit out of shape, she will probably still be pretty good at everything...maybe...she’ll probably want to try everything, anyway; high jump and relay? count her in.
THREADS: @behaneul (3/4) LETTER SOLO: incomplete INTERVIEW SOLO: incomplete
#–– tracker#–– ooc#idk how many threads i'll take this time we'll have to see how much fun stuff we can come up with!

jokes on you.
< w. @besaea >
the sheer irony of being placed with saea after his humbling review and consequential editing. it feels like he’s being tricked, cheese under a conspicuous box that’s going to trap him. but stevie will not be tricked! he’s going to do better this time around-- for his dignity at the very least. and he’s doing pretty good, he thinks. he’s been holding back on the tomfoolery, keeping focus as much as he can with minimal breaks in between.
but it’s soo hard when he’s checking his phone to double check the choreography, and he has a message from saea. he doesn’t even have to open it to know what it is instantly. he groans loudly instead. “saeaaaaaa,” he whines, on top of typing STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 in response. “haven’t i went through enough?” he grumbles, exiting out of the messaging app with a huff to look at the choreography again.
“you’re so annoying...” he mumbles, frowning. “i went through emotional, psychic damage.” it felt like it at least. he still feels like he’s weighed down by that image. and it’s-- working, in a sense. stevie’s attempting to do better, and he’s maintained good focus this far. he’s not going to get tripped again.

♡ Next Gen - hyejin performs tales of the unusual with @bejoomi @bejinyoung & @besaea ♡
the song her team got for the finale just makes hyejin excited. it is a perfect way to end her time here and she’s ready to perform it. she had gone over the song and choreo many times now to the point she’s sure she could do it all in her sleep. she’s sure anyone could easily see how elated she is with the song and want to make sure she puts her all into the performance.
in between all her practicing of tales of the unusual, she makes sure to do practice my turn again. it had been a bit since the first episode and she didn’t want to be rusty for this final performance. she hopes she does my turn more justice than she did the first time though she blames that on the edits more for showing off her fumbling more than her whole performance. this was going to be so much better. she knows it.
while she doesn’t feel she got to know all of her team that well, she can say that she’s happy about who she gets to work alongside. each are talented in their own ways plus she knows they’ll make this finale the best possible as well as give a great impression.
deep down she knows she’ll miss this but she hopes she succeeds in some way. there was no way she was letting her mother get her way. even if she doesn’t get to be apart of a company, she hopes they think about her later. she doesn’t want to miss out on her dream again.
on the day of the finale, she is making sure she gets the contacts in before getting her makeup finished. the contacts alone give off that eerie and creepy vibe that fits with the song well. the outfits also fit with the concept and just makes her even more eager to perform. the makeup just adds even more to it all, feeding into what saea’s idea which she had eagerly agreed with. she can feel her emotions hitting her veins easily though hopefully that will translate well to the performance. she didn’t wanna bring herself or her team down at all.
once standing outside the stage, she can feel her heart racing in her chest. the slight nervousness always got her right before a performance so she just does some breathing exercises to calm down. she adds in a few vocal exercises as well to make sure her voice doesn’t cut out during any of her lines. she’d forever be embarrassed if that happened at all and knows she’d never live it down.
all that fades away as soon as she steps on the stage and gets into her starting position alongside her team. hearing the song start she makes sure to give her all, dancing and making sure her voice is clean with her lines. she wants to embody the song and give it the treatment it deserves.
she hopes that it isn’t too creepy for people watching. she doesn’t wanna go too far at all if she can help it.
as the song continues, she wonders if her face and body language while dancing are conveying how she wants everything to go. sure there might be little mess ups but she makes sure she recovers quickly. it’s one thing she knows that the seniors do if they ever have a slight mess up whenever performing. it’s just bound to happen, no one can be absolutely perfect all the time.
as soon as the song ends, she lets herself get into an ending position, keeping the vibe of the song even till the end even with her ending fairy. after that she lets her body finally relax, a sigh leaving her lips. looking at her team, she can’t help but smile. she knows they put in their all and knows no matter what they left some sort of impression. she hopes those nights of practicing all the time were shown and reflected well into the performance.
it would be up to the judges decision in the end though. all she could do is wait and see what they’d say.

a bit of a horror movie
@besaea
gikwang found himself stuck, a little unsure of what to do. who could blame him? for the most part, gikwang had been minding his business, paying no attention to what was happening around him. his earphones were in and he was planned on cutting through the park to take a little time off his trip to the gym. on the way, he had passed a girl, someone. just standing there. it was a little odd, it played in the back of his mind. enough that he couldn’t help but turn around and peek, she was still standing there.
and then, he was a little worried, back tracking a bit. he was a safe distance away. he wondered if he should get a little closer but at the same, this it was just a tad too scary at night. “hey!” he didn’t mind calling rather loudly, “are you okay? do you need help?” because no one would be that perfectly still right? he found himself inching closer, pulling his phone out to turn on the flashlight. “can you hear me?” and did he need to call the police. that was the biggest question.

a starter for @besaea !! ( i just wanna dance on my own )
the group that’s currently dancing is really good. really good; yuji’s a little impressed. dancing’s been a bit of a struggle to her, an activity that requires a lot more practice for her to be good at. seeing them perform it so smoothly, so intricately-- with details and teamwork that yuji can’t help but be floored by.
she watches a little of the performance before she wanders down to the convenience store a little away, purchasing enough cold drinks for the entire team of dancers; by the time she makes it back, they’re either taking a break or finishing up. the crowd has thinned a bit, though there are a few like her, dawdling about. adjusting the bag on her arm, she slowly makes her way towards one of the crew-- a small smile sliding on her face on instinct.
“hi. you guys dance really well.” shifting, yuji holds out the bag of drinks. “figured you all might need to cool down a bit-- it’s nothing too exciting. they’re just cold.” her smile widens a bit.

ground me | @besaea
the morning of the mcountdown performance shouldn't have sent cam into an internal nervous breakdown lite, and yet he found himself outside of lime ent's building during a break from rehearsals with his head between his knees. while he hadn't intentionally looked for a secluded area, his muscle memory knew what to do and knew to shield itself in privacy, as much as he could find outside. he just needed some air at first and it turned into not having enough despite the cool relief outside brought.
it was silly. it had been enough time for him to get over himself, to get over losing his dream the first time. the memories still seemed to dig their claws in. he knew how the stage for mcountdown looked like, had been on the sidelines so excited to finally have a chance to perform. his group had worked so hard for the chance and his smile had been unbreakable during that time. unbreakable; it was until the minutes and hours passed and they were told they'd been sidelined due to timing and that all first-pick groups had made their schedules-- they were no longer needed. he didn't expect to ever be back in that building at all, or, after joining next gen, at least any time soon. cam didn't know what it was about knowing he'd be actually performing again that threw him off but all he could think about was his failures. and that's what they were to him- he'd failed his group, maybe if he'd done better and tried harder they could've saved the company.
it was stupid to even entertain that way of thinking, he had been insignificant in the grand scheme of it all; he'd only been one guy.
the nerves were getting the best of him and he moved to press his earphones further in to block out any noise from the neighbourhood. he needed to focus and couldn't afford to be close to hyperventilation just because he was getting stage fright now. he wasn't a kid anymore, wasn't even a total newbie, what the hell was wrong with him.
