The official Bernie 2020 Slack has been shut down. The campaign is over. I knew this was coming, but I didn't want to admit it. Where do we go from here? Mutual aid? General Strike? Rent Strike? Form a new party? Where do we go from here?

Bummer. We were pulling for Bernie. What could have been... Biden it is, I guess. These shots are from when Bernie came to visit us in our front yard with a few thousand friends in 2016. Not so much social distancing then. #bernie #bernie2020 #bernie2016 #berniesanders #democracy #primary #election #election2020 #socialdistancing (at Long Island City Waterfront Promenade) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-ujcHxBHl5/?igshid=qxg0ipdvpx7a

Could someone explain the Bernie Sanders thing to me? To be very up front, I was never a fan of his in 2016. I realize this time around I haven’t heard much from him. I was excited to learn more about him in the debate but wasn’t really impressed. He seemed to basically call for revolution without defining what that was. Even when asked about how he would make health care happen, he said people would have to oppose the health insurance companies. I guess I was surprised by how literally he seemed to be calling for a revolution by the people and I don’t completely understand his goals.
I guess my questions are: 1) does he want or expect a literal take to the streets revolution and if not what does he? And 2) what is his role in that revolution? How does him being the president fit into it? Is he president before, during, after the revolution and does he need to be at all?
I’m genuinely curious as a really big politics junky and I’m sorry if this comes off as rude

AN APPEAL TO REALNESS ---
Tulsi Gabbard isn’t getting the clout she deserves. In 2015 she communicated a level of authenticity that is all too rare within both political party ranks. Leading up to the primaries, Sen. Gabbard presided as the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, an “unbiased(?)” institution whose sole aim (in theory) is to secure democratic victories  - regardless of the candidate. An ethical flex ensued with Rep. Gabbard desert her post as vice chair in order to openly support the candidacy of Sen. Bernie Sanders. So, at the end of the day, Rep. Gabbard exhibited an authenticity that proved to be wildly lacking among the ranks of the DNC.
As the primary transpired, it became no secret the lengths at which the DNC went to ensure the election of one Hillary Clinton which became particularly damaging to the perception of the Democratic National Committee. Circle back to Rep. Gabbard: the one person who saw an ethical conflict of interest coming and ran in the opposite direction. A young, female representative left a sought-after position as Vice-Chair of the DNC to openly and ETHICALLY support Bernie Sanders.
This brings us to today, twenty months before yet another election. Much has happened, however not much has changed insofar as our political dynamics are concerned. An early crowd of Democratic hopefuls now echo Sen. Sander’s formerly fringe political stances. In some ways, this waters down his appeal to voters looking for new ideas. On the other hand, his re-emergence as the champion for these issues communicates a commitment and trust between him and voters - a trust that was painfully lacking between Hillary and voters.
I’ll be doing more research into the relationship dynamics between Sen. Sanders and Rep. Gabbard as they stand today. While they both find themselves vying for the Democratic nomination, a lot can and will change between now and then. My hope is that Both campaigns fortify their voting blocs and ultimately unite as one campaign. Tulsi, at 37 years old, should be considered the prodigy of progressive values. While I applaud her ambition to run for president, she could certainly contribute a lot to a Sanders administration. I can only hope that I am not the only one with this idea. Vice-President Gabbard and President Bernie Sanders.

Stephen M Robertson the Democratic Socalist candidate. Remember Obama and his oratory skills? You will get the same with Mr. Robertson, someone who is "for the people," just doesn't like to be "with the people." #feelthebern #bernie2016 #socialismiseverywhere #socialist (at Ray's Italian Bistro)
