I don't know if you guys remember but. There was a certain period where su crits would go after ANY show that had even a single su member working on it but they would quickly abandon it because they didn't get any traction from it like they did with su because they were just harmless kids shows. But for a bit we had stuff like "ok ko is the spawn of Satan because the female characters look like that" (debatable, to each their own) and "craig of the creek is racist because Bernard has a white girlfriend" (what)

March Fiction

March isn't over yet but I've ticked off so many things from my project list!

I finally finished a project I shelved in 2023. It's now a respectable 81K words, and ready for another revision round, before it will go to betas. BEST FRIENDS BURY BODIES is a contemporary murder mystery/second chance why choose romance, with protags in their late 40s, a missing 90s music star, a skeleton under a standing stone that isn't as ancient as it should be, and ride-or-die old friends covering up a murder and an affair. There's alcoholism, village drama, and an angry 13yo smashing her guitar. Think Midsomer Murders meets A Forty Year Kiss (but with 48yo protags). If anyone wants to beta this, I'll provide full CWs and info!

Ok look. Fine. I had a moment back in 2021 and I wrote a novel that took Carrie and Ricky out of The Crows and put them into a contemporary rom-com/dark(ish) romantic thriller situation. I kept their names the same and the basic mundane premise of The Crows but stripped it of all the magic and eldritch horror. The result of this thought experiment was a totally different novel that is 78K words and basically the comedy-drama series Brassic meets queer, working class asexual romance, where the lead guy doesn't understand what romance even is (he just gets super intense about people he likes, and that's mainly the ADHD), is a self-employed builder/jack-of-most-trades, master of fuck all, lives in a one bed flat on a council estate with his elderly St Bernard, gets hammered a lot and calls his love interest at 3am to drunkenly tell her how much he loves his dog before he throws up and passes out somewhere. Does he change by the end? No. Not really. You sign up for what you sign up for. I don't know. I don't know what to tell you. But it's got a HEA despite Carrie's stalker ex and Ricky's very unorthodox and not at all legal ways of getting shot of him. Also, Carrie is bi, and the house character is now a human trans femme nonbinary Goth called Raven, Ricky's on/off ex, through whom Ricky and Carrie meet. If any of that, and Ricky-the-very-human's HEA with an also very human Carrie is what you're after, then that book has a limited print release (Amazon only), and a limited eBook release (Itch and Ko-Fi only). I dusted off a short story I wrote during lockdown to submit to places and betas are looking at it right now! This was a personal goal to submit stuff more. I'm hopeful this will find a home. It's a 1.2K post-apocalyptic horrormance short about a decaying revenant dragging itself along some train tracks in a desert, hoping to find the person they were in a long-distance online relationship with at the end of them. A very early version of this went out in a 2021 newsletter, I think, but it has changed a lot since then and I've re-written it for submission.

I have started work on my alchemical fever-dream, As Below, So Above, an m/m Rapunzel meets Phantom of the Opera. It is not a romance. It is set in the same world as Yelen and Yelena, my Gothic Dark Fantasy with bisexual aromantic protags who have a lot of monster sex. I'm really excited about my magic system.

Work, I promise, is continuing on Feed, Book 4 in the Pagham-on-Sea series. I'm really liking where the characters now are on their journeys, and how they've developed over time. I am trying to make this an entry point to the series as well as a continuation, so this is going to be really tricky to get right. It will need a lot of percolating, I think.

any particular OK KO headcanons you have? I love your art, btw!!

Thank you!!!💞💞 I actually had alot of headcanons (most of them are about boxmore of course🤭) so here's a lil' list of the ones I can remember :

•the reason why we barely see mikayla is because she's very lazy and spends most of her time sleeping :3 she falls asleep in the most random places in the factory so the others always have to watch their steps bc if you wake her up you WILL regret it

•also her hobbies include watching anime and chasing random ppl on the street

•fink doesn't call veonmous her dad because she was scared that he doesn't see her as his "real" kid, that's also why she hates KO so much

•after darrell saw a pic of young boxlad in his sailor uniform he begged his father to buy him one so he could dress like boxman

•darrell and fink both love halloween for different reasons. Darrell loves the costumes and fink loves scary things (she always makes the bots watch horror movies)

•jethro, shannon, raymond & darrell love karaoke

•compared from ernesto and darrell, the robots dont really do alot of work in the factory

•darrell got a harmonica for christmas but he's terrible at playing it so the others always try to get rid of it but he somehow always find it

•after sibling rivalry raymond & shannon started bonding bc they realized they have alot in common. This actually made darrell jealous bc he's used to being the one who hangs out with shannon the most

•darrell can't swim!! if you take his floatie away he'll sink like a rock

•venomous enjoys talking with ernesto the most because he's much more calm and mature than his siblings

•fink called boxman "boxdad" by accident, he cried

•fink and darrell are still sharing a room

•foxtail is like an aunt to KO, she often comes to the plaza just to see him and she tells him stories about his mother's hero days at P.O.I.N.T

•shannon dyed KO's hair blond once (he looked even more like carol than usual)•darrell kept the bodega vest (that's one more costume for his collection!)

•shannon secretly has a deep love and appreciation for darrell (THIS ONE IS CANON I JUST WANTED TO POINT IT OUT!!!)

•the "oldest" to "youngest" robots according to me based on vibes : mr.logic > ernesto > raymond > darrell(barely) > shannon > mikayla > jethro > boxman jr

•rad's parents & enid's parents are literally bestfriends. They hang out together, they always call each other, and they always show baby pictures of their kids to each other.

•Ofrang & theodosia often babysit boris and icky

•bernard's a house-husband

•enid & rad play a shit ton of dance dance revolution

•boxman & mr.gar used to be childhood bestfriends who had a falling out and became sworn enemies (ok this one is based on nothing i just thought it would be a fun and interesting concept (also I wanted an excuse to draw gar and boxman as kids)

•darrell was a surprisingly great employee at the bodega (especially for someone who spent every day of his life trying to destroy it)

•he actually doesn't hate the plaza, he doesn't even dislike it he's just attacking it to make boxman happy

•boxman & venomous rebuilt boxman junior

•all their kids actually really like jr except fink and darrell who absolutely hate him. They often conspire to get rid of him.

•Junior hates KO more than anything in the world

•The boxbots wanted a pet so boxman built them double beat so they'd stop annoying him, he actually became the one who loves her the most and he spoils her alot

•drupe and raymond became besties after season 3

•the first time shannon worked at mr.logic hair salon she tried to cut a customer's hair with her buzz-saw

The only exceptions I’ll take to this are the dad wolf from ghoul school, and the dad wolf from OK, KO 

Enid's parents were so silly, I love them -- I think his name was Bernard? Something like that

And yeah fair tbh, "just a buff hairy guy" is low on my list simply bc there's s o m u c h else you can do with werewolves
