I can depict them however tf I want and I couldn’t give a shit if you like it or not. I find it rather pathetic that the only way you feel seen is by people characterizing a fictional character and the moment it isn’t up to your standards, you go and bitch about it. You think we need your acceptance? We don’t even need your blog to keep enjoying what we love. You overestimate your value wayyy too much.

unless they specifically asked, you don’t get to tell a fanfic writer you think they mischaracterized the character by the way. because the second someone writes a fanfic about a character, that character becomes the writer’s own version of the character. canon is only a suggestion, but whether or not an author will follow it / how much of canon an author will take is entirely up to them. you don’t get to stick your nose in their world and tell them “hey this is not to my liking therefore I think you’re doing it wrong” when you can simply leave quietly and move on to something else you may enjoy

Someone should make an enemies to lovers book/movie where one or both characters go through different alternate dimensions/time travel in hopes of finding that one single timeline where they can be happily together.

The protagonist would go to AU2 and instead of their enemy being the cause of their demise, they have to be the one who holds that burden instead. Or AU3 where they were so close but their enemy was too unwilling to even accept the idea. "But maybe in the next life I’m ready"

This character would embark on a journey through trial and error, butterfly effect, and deja vu. Maybe they’re so doomed that even when they are finally together, they will both die by each other’s side from a force much greater than them. This story does have a happy ending, but it never said anything about a happily ever after. Yet to them it would have been worth it. Legends never truly die.

I thought the ship wasn’t canon?” bro we’re talking about fictional characters, who don’t actually exist in real life, from a media that focuses solely on fictional events that are not real either. so what if these two made-up characters didn’t kiss in their source material? they have lots of nasty gay sex on archive of our own and thousands of novel length slow burn enemies to lovers fics written about them. the fanon content at this point far exceeds the whole canonical franchise. the problem isn’t “it’s not canon” the problem is that you don’t allow yourself to let go of canon and enjoy the wonder of fan contents that are just as good / valid

no you have to contribute to your fandom if you don't want it to die. most fandoms die because people say 'it's so sad watching the fandom die when the hype dies' without doing anything about it. I'm not saying you have to push out 100k word slow-burn fic, I'm not saying you have to make fan art or gif sets or edits or anything. I'm just saying we as a community should contribute to our fandom if we don't want it to die, and by contributing, I'm talking about giving kudos, commenting on your favorite fics, reblogging your favorite art and just talking about your favorite characters. that's enough to keep a fandom alive. that's the most effective way to keep a fandom alive in my humble opinion.

fandoms die because people stop talking about it, fandoms die because people stop engaging with fan content once the hype is gone. what I'm saying is, mainstream media's hype may be gone, but our fandom can stay alive and thriving if us as a community don't let it die.
