Domenico Zindato was born in 1966 in southern Italy. He was in Rome studying law, a common profession in his family, but soon escaped into theater and cinema studies, then left the university to travel. He spent several years in Berlin performing a Dada-esque cabaret act, and lived in Bombay, but eventually settled in Mexico City about ten years ago.
He now lives further south in Mexico and concentrates on drawing wherever his travels take him.The artist initially produced small drawings of figures in surrealistic settings in inks with a spidery line. By the late 1990s, he was producing work in his mature, all-over style. These pieces have grown from 6 x 8 inches to as large as 40 x 30 inches without losing any of their punch.

Note
He went from thanking his fans on twitter and blowing kisses from stage during TGM premier in Berlin to blocking everyone, why ? He left twitter completely now
Because his skin is thinner than tissue paper.
At the merest whiff of criticism or dissension he runs to hide and lick his wounds until a moment he perceives as being conducive to sticking his head out again.
I think right now he's just strategically staying underground until he has to be seen in the ASP zoom and at C2E2.

Thanks @alintheshitposter for tagging me 💕
Share your wallpaper: this picture, because Flint 🥰 (also the added benefit of Silver, Billy AND Joji being in the background)
Last song you listened to: Just put on ASP’s “Requiem” because it makes for surprisingly good studying music and that’s what I should actually be doing at the moment.
Currently reading: still Ursula Le Guin’s The Dispossessed, also James Oswald’s Natural Causes and on and off sneaking in a few pages of V for Vendetta
Last movie you watched: uuuuh I think it was The Best Days of Our Lives for class.
Craving: chili con carne. And also someone to just [redacted].
What are you wearing right now: blue jeans, black long sleeve, nothing interesting sadly
How tall are you: 1,72m? 1,73m? somewhere around there
Piercings: two in each ear, have been dying to get an industrial for literal years, might finally get around to it this year, because more hours at work=more money I can actually spend?
Tattoos: a simplified version of ASP’s black butterfly logo on my back
Glasses? Contacts? Glasses. Used to wear contacts almost exclusively for work a couple years back but too much hassle honestly
Last drink: coffee.
Last thing I ate: off-brand oreos
Last show: ...Tatort.
Favourite colour: black, but also dark green/blue/purple/red
Current obsession: Tatort Berlin (Karow specifically), unfortunately
Unrelated obsession: I think at this point DDF has stopped being an obsession and become a character trait
Any pets: nope.
Do you have a crush on anyone: do fictional characters count?
Favourite fictional characters: right now? Cotta and Karow, but Milo Sturgis, Sebastian Moran, Marcus Keane, and James Flint are also always somewhere at the top of the list
The last place you travelled: some Kuhkaff in Sachsen-Anhalt over easter because my mum decided we had to have a family vacation (it was... nice. but also very firmly just “nice”.)
i’m tagging @bistdueinbaum, @auxiliarydetective, @takealookintheback & @autumncalls (as always, only if you want!)
#i was tagged#thanks again!#uh yeah i'm craving a lot of things right now very few of them are sfw#most would involve karow or like. the next best repalcement i'm not too picky tbh.#which also answers the question which fictional character(s) i currently have a crush on#how did fucking tatort of all things hit me so bad?#anyway#thanks again for tagging me this was fun#i will now not go study but instead go grocery shopping.

Thanks for tagging me!
Last song: Flickenpuppe by ASP, because I finally got my hands on the new album today! Soooo many neat little horror stories 😍 (he did not lie about the Flickenpuppe video being heavy tho; trigger warning for gore & body horror including major close up eye trauma, plus Frankenstein-esque "medical" situations)
Last show/movie: started watching Tatort Berlin Wir-Ihr-Sie again yesterday evening because I needed some comfort Karow and I just love how cocky and unhinged he is in that episode <3
Currently watching: nothing, really, may continue Wir-Ihr-Sie in a minute or may not.
Currently reading: The New Negro (edited by Alain Locke) and Thomas Ziebula's Der rote Judas, also started re-reading/reading along to Asp's Der Fluch because there's a reading of it on the bonus discs on the new album 😍 (finally! it's not like I've been waiting for that for like ten years or anything.) And I'm about to start yet another book about shoah writing/autofiction/shoah testimonies for my paper later today or tomorrow.
Current obsession: eeeh. DDF has become a personality trait at this point, and there's not much else going on here right now.
No pressure tags: @lalalenii, @schreckensbleiches-nervenbuendel, @justablix and @geomorphologischendlos
Nine people you'd like to know better
I was tagged by @cody-helix02 - thanks!
Last song: Voulez-Vous by ABBA at the time of starting the post, Kindergarten by chloe moriondo at the time of finishing it
Last show/movie: One Piece live action - go watch it, it's great!
Currently watching: Technically, also One Piece live action, though mainly for fic purposes
Currently reading: A book on the Odyssey
Current obsession: If it wasn't already clear, it's live action One Piece. Occasionally, Good Omens and LXG take over though
Now, for some tags - no pressure! @starlit-epiphany @daughterofhecata @bravelittleflower @come-along-pond @waddlesworth @wheresmybloodynauglamir @the-amazing-karnak and anyone else who'd like to participate :)
#actively tagging some people i don't know (well)#i was tagged#not tagging 9 people tho because i don't know that many people#not without defaulting to the usual suspects at least xD#again thanks for tagging me! always love these!#also yes the asp album came out on saturday but i was still on vacation and the neighbours who took the package weren't home yesterday#but for once he isn't starting the tour literally the day after the album release so it wasn't too bad having to wait

Sehr cooles ask game! Gimme 1, 5, 8, 13, 19!
[music asks]
Finde ich auch!
1.an album you can’t stop listening to lately
Machine Gun Kelly's "Bloom". Next to "tickets to my downfall" probably my favourite album of his. It has "Rehab", and "Habits", and "27", and "Bad Things", and "Golden God", and "The Gunner" which is trashy as fuck but I love it anyway. Currently almost always playing this album at work during clean-up. (But also Halsey's "Badlands". Idk I don't even listen to her much, but I just love "Badlands".)
5. name an album you feel is perfect
ASP's "Verfallen #1: Astoria". Love everything about it - the omnious start with "Himmel und Hölle (Kreuzweg)", the anticipation of the protagonist leaving Berlin, heading for Leipzig, and immediately seeing the Astoria, falling in love with her, then the slow descend into both the hotel and the unhealthy relationship, half aware of it ("doch insgesamt, spüre ich, geht es bergab"), the last resistance against her wishes, the breaking of that resistance and the murder of poor Loreley, and the closing track, that's both teasing the continuation and just reference after reference to ASP's other work... Apparently I have a lot more feelings about that than I thought xD
8. name an artist/band that isn’t touring at the moment who you’d really like to see in concert
In Extremo aren't touring right now I think, and I really want to see them live again! And also Vogelfrey, who are definitely not touring atm.
13. if you could talk to any musician, who would it be? what would you want to say?
Asp. No discussion. I want to thank him for his music (not sure I'd still be alive without him), especially for "Leviathan" and the logbook entry for it, and also I'd love to just get to chat with him, because his mind is amazing.
19. who is your favorite member of your favorite band?
It's Asp. He is ASP, and he's responsible for everything that makes ASP ASP, so of course it's him. (But Micha/Das letzte Einhorn from In Extremo is also someone I love very much.)
#thanks for playing!#yes this is mostly asp again i apologize#but it is my favourite band for a reason#'leviathan' is pretty obviously about depression btw and the logbook entry starts with 'for diesem moment habe ich mich gefürchtet'#because it's obviously personal for him and i just love him so much for talking about it anyway#ask#lensinski#music

Exploring Philosopher Carl Hempel's Connection to Chinese Philosophy
This post was written by Simone Mohite, a recipient of an Archival Scholar Research Award for the 2021 Spring Semester.
2020 has proved to be anything but ordinary. With the sudden onset of the coronavirus, millions of people comprising a non-scientific jury tried to determine the rules of survival. To wear a mask or not to wear a mask? Are vaccines safe or is the data weird? Is this science, or is it pseudo-science?
Although dismissive statements about science and questionable “scientific” claims in the public sphere are routine, the coronavirus epidemic has shown us that it is even more difficult to know who and what to trust when the doctors and scientists offer conflicting guidance. We all want to know the truth that science can tell us—in this case, to keep us safe—but what classifies something as science in the first place? To answer this question, I turned to philosopher Carl Gustav Hempel’s work on logical empiricism. I examined a manuscript from 1981 in which to understand how Hempel developed his ideas before they were ‘fixed’ into print and disseminated.
The manuscript I chose was titled “Logical empiricism: Its problems and changes.” It is the revised text of a lecture delivered by Hempel in China in 1981. On the very first page, there is a note that says, “Revised and Submitted to Hung.” I was curious to know why Hempel was in China giving this lecture on the recent history of Western philosophy. As it was towards the end of his career, I wanted to know if Hempel had taken an interest in Chinese Philosophy, or if philosophers in China had taken an interest in him.
(Above) Title with inscription “Revised, Submitted to Hung, 6/9/81,” Logical Empiricism: It’s Problems and It’s Changes by Carl G. Hempel, Box 57, Folder 7, Carl Gustav Hempel Papers, 1903-1997, ASP.1999.01, Archives of Scientific Philosophy, Archives & Special Collections, University of Pittsburgh Library System.
Before assessing the content, I began by examining the document itself. The first half of the manuscript is mainly typewritten. In the second half of this document are what appear to be Hempel’s notes for the lecture, mainly made using a black ink pen; however, visible changes and edits were made with a pencil. It looks as if the document were written in a journal notebook, from both the size of the writing and comparing it to the typewritten pages. His handwriting on these notes is significantly more legible than other notes available at the archive under Hempel’s name, which made me think someone else was probably supposed to read this – possibly for more edits.
(Above) Page 1, typed, Logical Empiricism: It’s Problems and It’s Changes by Carl G. Hempel, Box 57, Folder 7, Carl Gustav Hempel Papers, 1903-1997, ASP.1999.01, Archives of Scientific Philosophy, Archives & Special Collections, University of Pittsburgh Library System.
(Above) Page 2, notes. Logical Empiricism: It’s Problems and It’s Changes by Carl G. Hempel, Box 57, Folder 7, Carl Gustav Hempel Papers, 1903-1997, ASP.1999.01, Archives of Scientific Philosophy, Archives & Special Collections, University of Pittsburgh Library System.
Another thing I found interesting was Hempel’s remarks on the second page in the handwritten journal. They stated, “I remember my teachers with great respect and gratitude, but in the course of time, I have found certain difficulties in their ideas” (Hempel, 1981). Hempel then omits this from the revised text. I plan to delve deeper into Hempel’s correspondence to see which teachers he may be referring to and how he came to disagree with their ideas. I noticed other omissions between the two versions of the text, but they seem generic, as if he was refining his language for publishing this text.
(Above) Page 22, notes. Examples of generic corrections in the lecture. Logical Empiricism: It’s Problems and It’s Changes by Carl G. Hempel, Box 57, Folder 7, Carl Gustav Hempel Papers, 1903-1997, ASP.1999.01, Archives of Scientific Philosophy, Archives & Special Collections, University of Pittsburgh Library System.
I then turned my attention to the content of these versions of Hempel’s texts. My brief analysis helped me develop two insights, and additional research helped me begin to answer my questions about Hempel’s relation to China and Chinese philosophy. First, this manuscript helped me figure out what the Logical Empiricists and members of the Vienna Circle characterized ‘pseudoscience’. To my surprise, figuring out what separated scientific truth from metaphysics was an issue that logical empiricists, like Hempel, were thinking about back in the 1930s! They were concerned with verifications and considered any metaphysical statement meaningless.
Second, this manuscript provides evidence of who had influenced Hempel’s philosophy and who he may have had corresponded with. In Hempel’s lecture he mentioned a few recurring references to philosophers in Berlin and the Vienna Circle, such as Otto Neurath, Hans Reichenbach and Rudolph Carnap. However, the one that particularly interested me was “Professor Hung” – likely the same Hung from the first page!
As it turns out, I soon discovered that ‘Professor Hung’ was Tscha Hung, a Chinese Philosopher who was curious about logical empiricism and the foundations of truth (Cohen, 1996). This evidence provided an answer to my initial question: it seems Hempel was invited to China because Hung had an interest in Logical Empiricism and Western philosophy. Cohen (1996) mentions that he had heard of Hung while having a conversation with Marie Neurath Reading Hempel’s notes in the second half of this manuscript, I found Hempel’s account of meeting Professor Hung in Vienna. Apparently, Hung also attended the Vienna Circle meetings or one of the classes taught by either Moritz Schlick or Carnap. Hempel also mentions that the next encounter he had with Professor Hung was when he was giving a lecture in China 50 years later! Comparing the handwritten lecture and the revised version, I saw that Hempel had omitted this story about meeting Hung, which was surprising to me, considering that he was delivering this lecture in person, with Professor Hung in attendance. However, the final typewritten version might be an article he wrote, based on said lecture, so that may have led him to cut out all the informal sentences spoken at this lecture.
