I got Berenilde ????
Make no mistake I love the character, but I'm nowhere as beautiful and elegant and badass as her (can't wait to provoke two people in duel and kill them! /jk)
Description above is not that inaccurate tho (the confidence and fearlessness are definitely conditional tho)
Do you like to take quizz ?
I made a quizz about the mirror visitor quartet. If you like those books you might enjoy this :) https://uquiz.com/c8qxAO
have a nice day <3

@anghraine tagged me on this shipping meme ages ago! But tonight I’m suddenly chatty and inspired, so here it goes 😁😁
I’m tagging everyone who reads this until the end :P go ahead! I wanna read abt ur guy’s ships!
1. First ship: Hiei/Mukuro from the anime Yuyu Hakusho when I was uuuh 9? Thinking back, it’s kind of a blueprint of my favorite ships? From the bonding through trauma to like, being the straight canon couple hated the most by shippers of the slash juggernaut (Hiei/Kurama, a ship I respect but do not and have never gotten the appeal of). Mukuro is peak female character, and Hiei even has a little sister he’s obsessed with! Amazing, I get nostalgic for them once in a blue moon.
2. First OTP: I think Sandor/Sansa from game of thrones in like, 2011? Or Arwen/Aragorn from LOTR in like 2002, which I got disproportionately attached to because of the Arwen hate I was exposed to when the movies were coming out :P
3. Current favorite ship: these past months, these three ships are orbiting around my brain like a Three Body System: Elwing/Earendil, Utena/Anthy, and Sam/Dean. Túrin/Nienor is a constant in the back of my mind though <3 my mothership if you will.
4. Your ship since the first minute: Syd/David from Legion because, for plot reasons, they had to establish that very strongly right away on the first episode - and they did, lol... by the end of S01E01 I was already all puppy dog eyes emoji 🥺 the actors have a lot of chemistry!
5. Ships you wish had been endgame: Honestly I tend to like messy break-ups as much as I like ships lol. Like I love Erendis and Aldarion, Anaire and Fingolfin, Andreth and Aegnor, etc. Celeborn and Galadriel’s separation at the end of their world that makes me ship them 1000000x more and with more passion. A break-up can be very sexy thing too ;)
6. Ship you wish was canon:  Elizabeth said: “I can’t think of any right now, I have a tendency to like canon ships, but also to like exploring non-canon ships without begrudging non-officiality,” and that’s basically my experience too...
There are books that leave me craving for in-page queer attraction/action, like Megan Abbot’s ‘Give me your hand’ (I KEPT WAITING FOR IT TO HAPPEN the two main characters were so potentially sexy) or Stephen Graham Jones “The last final girl” (Izzy and Crystal I’m...) (still holding out for Jade and Letha, Stephen!! Gibe), but they are not really like, fandoms, so...
7. Ship that most of the fandom hates but you love: Same as Elizabeth, it’s more the other way around, me hating ships the whole fandom loves. My impression is that my ships that are unpopular are usually so due to the most unaffected indifference, not to hate. I would say Cersei/Jaime, but I feel like the whole “Jaime is a Good Man and Cersei needs to die by his hand so he can be purified by Brienne’s love” and/or “Jaime is actually gay, Cersei Who? I Don’t Know Her” are not as pervasive canon stances as they look like on tumblr :P
8. You don’t even watch the show, but you ship it: I do have one, it’s Ysayle/Estinien from Final Fantasy!  @squirrelwrangler schooled me on that one (and gave me the gift that is the silm fusion, so I can actually appreciate it), it’s a class A ship :)
9. Ship you wish had a different storyline: Season 2 Syd/David from Legion. I don’t mind the break up and I thought they were very sexy at the beginning of S3, but S2 writing felt like such a mess. Too convoluted and for what? It wasn’t even hot, idk.
10. Favorite ship that’s endgame:  Really most of my ships, I tend to ship canon things just because I tend to a) only engage with canons I actually like, and b) the canon couples tend to be the ones that are the most developed in the canons I tend to like. It’s harder to think of a ship I like that was frustratingly NOT endgame, see #5.
And I’m making up some questions I think a shipping meme should have:
11. Ship you initially didn’t think you would get into: Honestly, Jonathan Harker/Mina Harker, just because I had absorbed the notion that the book was really about Mina/Dracula. In the end I don’t care overmuch about Mina/Dracula except in how it acts as a vehicle for the most perfect same-trauma Jonathan/Mina... Pure ID candy tbh.
12. Ship you lost interest in: Amanda/Nikita, just because the writing of the show made it hard to keep interested, and oh my god. For shame. Those two were REALLY hot. There’s barely any fanfic for it too because it precedes AO3 and it’s an f/f ship on the nasty side :’(

archibald for the ask thing!!! :-D
La Passe-Miroir/The Mirror Visitor ask game: give me a character's name and I will give you three headcanons + an AU! one for them
Archibald
1 - Contrary to popular belief, he doesn't drink that much alcohol, and prefers champagne/a good wine over liquor. drugs are his poison of choice
2 - I can't explain why, but imo he isn't straight (not a lot of characters in the LPM/TMV universe I headcanon as straight tbh)
3 - He is definitely somebody who cares a lot for the people he loves, but without showing how much he actually loves them (except Victoria) : When he was creating shortcuts between the Arks during the time skip, he always came back with something for the folks he loves (a plushie/toy for Victoria, booze/tobacco/other for Gail and Fox, jewellery/trinkets for Berenilde and his sisters)
AU! - This how he would dress if the books took place nowadays:

 LPM book 4 major spoilers
EDIT: IF YOU HAVEN’T READ BOOK 4 DON’T READ THIS, IT WON’T MAKE SENSE, IT DOESN’T TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT WHETHER THORN AND OPHELIE END TOGETHER OR NOT, IT’S ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY
abt Thorn and Victoire,
I think the point of that meeting is helping Thorn grow... not in terms of maturity, I think he’s mature, but if l’Envers is a place where you are stuck in your own trauma*** (my interpretation, like I explained in the other post), it is pretty clear Thorn’s trauma is abandonment. Specifically, this childhood trauma developed into a general wish to be “needed”, to be indispensable, irreplaceable (that’s canon ofc, he actually spells this out), unabandonable. Actually seeing Victoire, the current placeholder symbol where he projects his fears, works as a sort of wake-up call, because... He can see himself - not because he relates to her, but because they’re so essentially different. It becomes evident that there was never a competition. Loving is not losing, loving is not a zero sum game. Victorie’s existance in Berenilde’s life doesn’t mean his disappearance. I don’t think the encounter of these cousins is about Thorn’s ability to be kind or gentle, but - like the whole Envers - about facing his trauma. (And btw, I also think it is very significant that the only person Thorn ever hurts by accident is also a child).
That’s the essential thing: he’s an adult, VIctoire’s a child. In this book it becomes even more evident that Thorn wants Ophelie to completely fill his existance, and is disappointed that he cannot do the same for her. He’s longing for a type of love that simply does not exist, the viscerally symbolic, socially idealized love between a mother and a child, where one encompasses the whole world of the other. It’s no wonder Thorn hates the Father - be it Farouk or God or Eulalie-tyrant - and loves the Mother - Natasha, Berenilde or Ophélie (I’m not saying his hatred or love is misplaced, but his expectations for them are). And by the way, note that this is not terribly different from Farouk’s trauma either, he who hates Eulalie-God/father but at the same time loves Eulalie/mother, and who hates children because he thinks they compete with him. In Thorn’s specific case, however, this all-or-nothing complex harms literally no one but himself, because he is willing to go to great lenghts to attain that which is unattainble. In Book 2, he infantilizes Ophélie to protect her - in my opinion, he loves and protects Ophélie the way he wishes he had been loved and protected. In Book 3 and 4, he treats her as an equal, but he does so he places HERSELF as his rival for her own love (scream!!!). He eventually understands he will never be enough to fill Ophélie’s world: she doesn’t need him to find the truth, she doesn’t need him to do her dirty work anymore, even, as she says when she trashes Lazarus. And it’s sad because at first, in l’Envers, he seems even resigned to that? Because he thinks of Ophélie’s door as “the only one that is open for him” and, my god, that’s really fucking sad.
But the most important thing is that Ophélie is neither interested nor capable of being anybody’s god or mother, let alone Thorn. She doesn’t want to rule over him and she doesn’t want him or anybody to sacrifice themselves for her. Ophelia is the anti-god in every single narrative sense, more and more as the narrative progresses...
His meeting with Victoire is where this oedipical self-image shatters and he is finally able to fully love as an adult. He is Ophélie’s equal. Love as emancipation babey!!!!
