if daybreak wasn’t an adventurer, he would be a street-corner preacher.

that sounds like a joke but it is not.

35. Why is your character’s lowest stat their lowest (the in-character reason, not “because there’s no reason for a wizard to have 16 strength, duh”)?

i do not remember which stat is his lowest

uhhhh okay strength and int are both 10. well, strength because he’s an animate grouping of plant matter; since he’s made of mostly woody materials, he’s pretty sturdy (14 con) but not particularly strong in other regards. 

i don’t really have a good explanation for int– i suppose it’s that his origin as a spirit lends more weight to wisdom and charisma than to book learning, and his druid wasn’t focused on book learning for him either.

89. What is your character’s relationship with magic? Are they scared of it, wish to know more about it, indifferent to it?

magic in general? fine, a normal part of the world. there are many things about this world that he wants to know more about and magic is one of them.

his magic in particular, though, stems from a place and event that he 1. believes is pure evil and 2. was very traumatized by. but he thinks it was given to him so that he could eventually curb that evil; his magic has two sides, and he believes the one is a necessary evil in order to bring about the eventual triumph of the other.

99. Are there any social or political issues your character feels strongly about?

so, we’re currently in an underground city that mysteriously appeared from prooooobably a different planet or plane, right?

daybreak is 100% convinced that everyone who’s From here is evil and serving evil purposes. the only people from here who could be Not evil are underlings and menial workers who are being exploited/don’t know any better.

My latest character is a half-elf/half-tiefling cleric of the Raven Queen named Jeran! He was raised in a cult of the Raven Queen in a world where the gods lost contact with the Material Plane 500 years ago, and because he was more into the cycle of life and death than ~culty bullshit~ he was nominated as a SACRIFICE TO THE RAVEN QUEEN... and then promptly gained cleric powers and poofed off to another plane. And now he's on a quest from the Raven Queen to return the gods to the world!

Are you staying home from work/school? alas! i work at a health food store that sells slightly more food than vitamins so Unfortunately We Are A Grocery Store In The Eyes Of The Law.

If you’re staying home, who’s there [without] you? My parents, mostly. However my dad drives public transit and my mom does admin stuff for a drug store part time so...no one is isolating here. we r glad there is no more covid in our city.

Are you a homebody? I’ll say ‘a little bit’ to this, bc i tend to skip out on irl friend video calls. However sometimes the only thing that keeps me somewhat sane in the best of times is going for hour long walks listening to podcasts. I’m tired of fucking talking to ppl using my mouth tho

Are you staying home from work/school? I’ve been working from home for seven weeks. People are trying to open things up again though, so I don’t know how long it’s going to last.

If you’re staying home, who’s there [without] you? Just me and the cat. We’ve actually bonded a lot! And it’s obvious now that part of her being a little shit was because she was lonely. So it’s possible I’ll soon be staying at home with two cats! (Thinking of fostering before adopting.)

Are you a homebody? So much so. I’m definitely one of the people who had almost no change to their schedule outside of work. Also, right before this all started I moved from the middle of the city to way, way out in the burbs. There isn’t as much to do even if I wanted to.

What movies have you watched recently? What shows are you watching? I’ve binged so much reality tv holy shit. (Needed background noise/visuals while writing.) I’ve finished Hoarders, 90 Day Fiance, I Am a Killer. Rewatched Good Omens and all of FMA and the wrap-up film. Finally watched Bird Box. And this week I’ve been binging Bob’s Burgers. (Side note: I’d only ever seen talk of how great its queer rep is, so the transphobia early on blindsided me.)

An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled? Other people’s plans for my bday got cancelled. The real tragedy was that I’ve had tickets to the Anastasia musical for nine months and have wanted to see it since it was announced even though I know they’ve changed some of the best bits and it will piss me off lmao.

What are you doing for self care? And that’s the million dollar question from my therapist every week. Trying to do the less glamorous self care like eating better, having good sleep hygiene, keeping my space clean; however, I’m also trying to be gentle with myself when I can’t do those things. Maintaining my boundaries between work and personal time. Also, playing/cuddling with the cat, connecting with people here, and writing fic.
