That's what I told her! '😬' is damn right, I don't know why she thought that was a good idea. This is the same woman who didn't know geese flew until I explicitly pointed it out. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed, I guess. And also not the nicest; the things she says to me to wear me down are crazy. Anyway the Berczy, Toronto Park dog fountain is a large, commemorative fountain that has 27 statues of various breeds of dog, all looking at the topmost point of the fountain-- except for a singular cat statue situated on the fountain's ledge, watching a nearby statue of two birds. You get an extra fact for chatting with me :)

Toronto (pt. 4)

Normal sightseeing service was resumed today as my hip felt much better, but I started off slowly to be safe. My first stop was the (Ice) Hockey Hall of Fame, which was near the top of my list having developed a soft spot for the sport. Canadians have much more than a soft spot for ice hockey, and Ontario is considered by many to be its spiritual home, hence the HHOF’s residency in Toronto.

I spent nearly two hours meandering through the exhibits, which included countless jerseys from all over the world, a Stanley Cup (replica) and even a couple of interactive games. I tried my hand at the ‘Shutout’ game, where you don the oversized goalie gloves + stick to try and stop a handful of shots fired at you by players on a video screen. There are five puck-sized holes in the wall from which a rubber projectile can be fired, so you have to watch the advancing players to get an idea of which way to move. On a few occasions I felt the sync between shot and screen was a teensy bit off, as I reacted when the ‘swing’ was taken, but the puck came a fraction late/early. Nevertheless, I didn’t disgrace myself – I think I saved 4 out of 8 – on ‘easy’ mode…

After exiting through the merch store and resisting the urge to buy every brightly coloured hoodie in sight, I had a quick look at the TORONTO sign, passed by the dog ‘n bone fountain in Berczy Park, and had a mooch in St. Lawrence Market before walking along the waterfront at my own pace - which was growing ever quicker as my hip troubles became a distant memory. I stopped off for another FB burrito and avoided adding anything too explosive to it, before hopping on a water taxi to make the quick voyage across the harbour to Toronto Islands.

It’s a beautiful stretch of mini-islands sewn together by bridges, and I could conceivably have spent an entire day there, but I did the 1-hour version instead! I couldn’t stomach walking the entirety so opted to hire a bike, but as the rental place was due to shut in 45 minutes, this deadline was what prompted my whistle-stop tour. I raced from one end to the other, enjoying the exhilarating feeling of whizzing along on a bicycle, and dropped it back with time to spare.

I took a water taxi back across the bay (enjoying the sight of the city drawing ever closer) before making one final unexpected stop on my way home – cannabis is legal in Canada, and after seeing a few stores on yesterday’s tour bus ride, my interest was piqued and I resolved to try and ‘score’ some. I am not the least bit interested in smoking it (or anything else for that matter) but you can buy various edible versions, so I popped into a store and bought a few select morsels which are waiting for me as soon as I post this blog entry – I wanted to make sure it was a coherent weed – I mean, read!
