Yes there are people who think so because they will either interpret it as the person doing so to prevent a guilty conscience or that they aren’t paying attention to those who care about them by harming themselves which in specific situations CAN occur but more often than not it’s something that inflicts the most damage on the one sacrificed

“Self-sacrifice is self-love” I feel like people don’t understand how the prolonged use of disregarding your own feelings and worth causes so much internal suffering to the point of which you forget so many things about yourself. There really isn’t anything vain about it
