god i hate svu 2.0 sometimes. the first 5 minutes of 13x02 are so fucking alien (which look, i get. new showrunner, new cast) but mainly the interaction between cragen and liv where he tells her to let elliot "go" and to clean up his desk is very clear foreshadowing of the show's new energy. like this is not a new relationship and yet it feels like a major (and unecessary) dynamic shift

the look liv gives cragen is sooo poisonous and very unlike her but that's half due to her new look as well. super dark eyeliner, more obvious makeup like she's supposed to be a sullen teenager after a break up or something. like yes she's Going Through It™️ but it was shown to such a shallow surface level instead of the internalisation of big emotions we know both liv (and elliot for that matter) for, which are always more nuanced and real than anything we get in the aftermath of scorched earth. also cragen is lot sharper with liv than we have come to expect him to be. very much a mouthpiece for WL in those early episodes and idk it just reinforces what i see as an immature and counterproductive take on what was a very unique, interesting and loved relationship

Manip: Love at First Punch/ Checkmate

Sparks fly upon first sight (or rather first punch) between Jonathan Bishop who locks eyes with Eleanor "Nell" Brandon, at a party they don't want to be at- unaware that they're on a collision course...

On paper, they couldn't be more different- while Jonathan is the proverbial black sheep and middle child in a family consisting of his sisters and mother, Nell is the golden and only child in her family, en route to following in her parents' career paths and footsteps, with no room for contemplation or Plan B's. While he longs to follow his heart in becoming a mystery writer and out of the small town where he lives, she is content with where she "has" to go- her eyes are set on Harvard, her parents' alma mater. He embraces unpredictability, she downright rejects it. If there's one thing they do have theoretically in common- they both choose to be happily single and falling in love is NOT an option for either of them.

But they both have a hidden talent- while Jonathan can read people through body language without blinking an eye, Nell is overly and incredibly empathetic and can tell when something doesn't seem right in a situation...

So when a person they both care about is found murdered the following morning- they find a kindred spirit in each other's grief and decide to take matters into their own hands.

What happens when a night of passion, startling revelations and caveats as they go about their investigation, instigate something that neither one of them are prepared for- falling in love?

Can someone explain where eo/bensler 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 begin?

My guess right now is 2.0 is either when she comes back from Oregon or just Gitano; 3.0 is the development of how she actually felt about him in his absence; 4.0 is his return and them getting reacquainted (so like….now). Is that about right?

I do think we deserved a liiiittle more after waiting twelve seasons and having Chris Meloni leave the show for ten years. But I am truly so grateful that he decided to come back to continue Elliot and Olivia's story and that those in power seem to have decided to let them be together, further in the future though that may be. Right now, though, it's just kind of a feeling of . . . *sighs* Really? It's been twenty-two years. :(

haha I’m assuming you mean the SVU questions if not I’m so sorry for what I’m about to do

Objection: My least favorite ADA is… probably Jo Marlowe. I didn’t like the drama she brought, because all the other ADAs brought their drama but then turned it around, and Jo wasn’t there long enough for me to forgive her for her first few episodes.

Precinct: My favorite character is absolutely Stabler I love that man with all my heart. In the newer seasons Barba holds my heart, though.

Officer Down: My least favorite character is Amaro, and I know that people probably hate that, but I don’t like change and I like Stabler so I don’t need a season 13 knockoff.

Case File: I don’t really read SVU fanfic because I like keeping my heart intact.

Handcuffs: I’ve never gotten too involved in the fandom aspect of SVU to be honest, but Bensler and then whatever Rollins/Carisi is.

Captain: Crageeeeennnnnnn

Benson: Season 5 was her most iconic hairstyle

Shield: I literally had to google what 2.0 is but in spite of the fact that Barba is my true son, I have to say 1.0.

Arrest: OOH definitely the guy who raped those girls and then made his son take the fall for it and called his son weak I wish I remembered the episode title

Battery: Benson saying “I’d like your balls in a blender but ain’t life a bitch” to Andrew McCarthy that one time is iconic. Also I am obsessed with the cocaine in baby formula episode where Elliot goes undercover as Greg, like anything he says as Greg kills me.

Overruled: Munch was dapper as actual heck.

Suspect: Best guest star is super tough, but I have to admit I was a huge fan of Bradley Cooper as an attorney and wish he had more to do. Also Marlee Matlin as Amy Solwey was fantastic.

Undercover: Best Undercover Moment was that episode when Stabler went undercover to the pedophile therapy group to befriend the other pedophile and they kidnapped a girl together. Iconic.

IA: I don’t hate Tucker as a character, I think he’s well written and provides a fantastic foil to the detectives, but also keep him away from Olivia, yknow?

Feds: Tell me the person whose favorite fed isn’t Dr. Huang so I can beat them up.

Court: Most Awkward SVU Moment was a tie between that episode they tried to arrest the socialite and called in all their favors and then while she was in their custody another murder with the same MO occurred, or the episode where the teacher had the brain tumor and then tried to hook up with Stabler.

CSU: Favorite TARU tech is Ruben Morales because I love Joel de la Fuente.

#SVU Season 18 Opinions

High Points/Good Episodes:

Lots of Barba and Olivia scenes together, “Rape Interrupted” was a good episode this season, as were “Decline and Fall,” “Motherly Love,” “Great Expectations,” “Know It All,” “Net Worth,””The Newsroom,” and “Real Fake News.” I also liked that they finally made Fin Sergeant after killing off Mini Dodds last season, Chief Dodds finally apologized to Liv for what he said in the season premiere, lots of Rollins and Carisi scenes.

Low Points/Bad Episodes:

Episodes like: “Imposter,””No Surrender,” and “Genes,” I really didn’t like some of the concepts they came up with for those episodes in particular. The fact that there seems to be no substance anymore/continuation with storylines: they bring up things like Carisi interviewing with a Brooklyn ADA but drop it and never revisit it, same with saying how at the end of last season Fin was going to become a grandpa and NEVER BRINGING IT UP AGAIN THIS SEASON. How the fandom has outright hated each other because of differing opinions, specifically people who loved 1.0/Bensler hating on the people who like 2.0 and characters that have been created during that time such as Amaro, Rollins, Barba, Carisi (Even though I haven’t seen much hate as far as Barba or Carisi).

RANT:

 I’m probably one of the few people who likes both 1.0 and 2.0 and still longs for Elliot coming back as well as wanting Olivia to be with Barba. I still love SVU because of the OGs of Mariska Hargitay and Ice T for sticking around as long as they have and I liked that when Warren Leight first started in season 13. that he brought back two 1.0 characters most people love: Alex Cabot and Casey Novak, as well as having Melinda, Dr. Huang, Munch, and Cragen stick around for as long as they did. I know Season 18 has not been perfect, but we should still give the show a chance, hopefully a new showrunner can come and clean up the mess that Rick Eid made and we can all move on.
