The atoz classes Review — “Transforming Math Anxiety into Achievement: Our Online Classroom Success Stories”
For many children, math is more than just a challenging subject — it’s a source of stress and anxiety. The fear of numbers, the pressure to keep up with peers, and the frustration of not understanding can make math seem like an impossible mountain to climb. At The AtoZ Classes, we’ve seen these struggles firsthand, but we’ve also witnessed something truly beautiful: the moment when a student’s fear turns into understanding, and anxiety turns into achievement. I’d like to share the stories of a few students whose lives have been touched by our approach.
Riya’s Story: Finding Her Voice Through Math
Riya, a 6th grader from Delhi, had always been a quiet, thoughtful child. But when it came to math, her quietness turned into withdrawal. She’d sit at the back of the class, hoping she wouldn’t be called on, and her once-bright eyes would dim with every math lesson. Her parents, concerned and heartbroken, reached out to us at The AtoZ Classes, hoping we could help their daughter rediscover her love for learning.
Aarav’s Journey: Rebuilding Confidence, One Step at a Time
Aarav, a 10th grader from Bengaluru, was a student with big dreams. He wanted to pursue engineering, but math felt like a giant roadblock standing in his way. Despite his best efforts, the complex equations and new concepts left him feeling defeated. Aarav’s parents knew he was capable, but they also knew he needed more than just tutoring; he needed someone who believed in him.
When Aarav joined The AtoZ Classes, I knew that rebuilding his confidence was just as important as teaching him the material. We started with the basics, ensuring that he had a strong foundation to build on. But we also took the time to listen to his frustrations and fears. I remember many late-night sessions where we’d talk through problems, not just math problems, but the doubts and worries that were holding him back. Slowly, Aarav began to see math not as an obstacle, but as a challenge he could overcome. His grades improved, but more importantly, he started to believe in himself again. When Aarav aced his final exams, the smile on his face said it all — he knew he was back on track to achieving his dreams.
Ananya’s Transformation: Learning to Love Math
Ananya, a sweet 3rd grader from Mumbai, was struggling to keep up with her math lessons at school. The fast pace and the pressure to keep up left her feeling lost and frustrated. Her parents, worried that she might fall behind, reached out to The AtoZ Classes, hoping that a different approach might help.
From the moment I met Ananya, I knew she needed patience, encouragement, and a lot of positive reinforcement. We took our time, revisiting lessons as often as she needed, using fun, interactive methods to keep her engaged. I’ll never forget the day Ananya solved her first problem all by herself — she looked up at me with wide eyes, a mix of surprise and pride, and whispered, “I did it!” That moment was the turning point. From then on, Ananya approached math with a newfound curiosity and eagerness. Her parents couldn’t believe the transformation — they saw their little girl go from dreading math to eagerly looking forward to her lessons. Today, Ananya is excelling in math, and the joy on her face every time she solves a problem is a reminder of why we do what we do.
The Heart of The AtoZ Classes
These stories of Riya, Aarav, and Ananya are just a few examples of the countless students who’ve found not just success, but joy in learning math through The AtoZ Classes. What sets us apart is our belief that every child can succeed in math, given the right support and encouragement. We don’t just teach math; we build confidence, nurture curiosity, and celebrate every step of progress, no matter how small.
At The AtoZ Classes, we’re more than just educators — we’re mentors, cheerleaders, and sometimes, a shoulder to lean on. We know that math can be challenging, but we also know that with patience, understanding, and a personalized approach, every student can overcome those challenges. Watching our students transform from anxious learners to confident achievers is the most rewarding part of our journey.
If your child is struggling with math or needs a little extra support, we’re here to help. At The AtoZ Classes, we’re committed to turning math anxiety into achievement, one student at a time more info visit our website theatozclasses.com

Day 6: 5+1 things [DESI LGBT+ FEST]
I just wanted to write something today so here you go! this idea came to me in the middle of class lol, i was really stumped for what to write for this prompt so luckily i came up with something in the end!
also new ocs!! anshika x padma, i plan to expand more on them (and my oc-verse in general) during more of the other prompts
tagging: @desi-lgbt-fest - hope you like it!
Anshika wondered when the class would end. Her gaze strayed to the teacher’s moustache as it wobbled up and down with each sentence he spoke. She smiled lazily and twirled her pen around again, staring blankly at the many doodles in her book. Again, the teacher’s outrageously thick moustache caught her eye.
Fifteen minutes till the end of class.
She imagined what it might feel like to touch it. Hairy and gross, probably. She shuddered at the thought.
God, I feel sorry for his wife.
She cracked a lopsided grin at the thought, thinking about how terrible it would be to have to be the teacher’s wife and suffer through a kiss with that bear-fur moustache in the way.
Twelve minutes till the end of class.
Just as she thought she might fall asleep where she sat, a piece of paper was flicked onto her desk. In the blink of an eye, her expression brightened as she dropped her pen, looking eagerly at her girlfriend’s back.
Padma turned around, and flashed her a flirty wink. Almost immediately, Anshika blushed, and ducked her head to look at her lap while opening the note.
The note was simple enough: Five reasons you love me?
Anshika picked up her pen, genuinely deep in thought. There were so many things she could write.
1) You’re a smooth talker.
“Hey, Anshu!” Padma leaned against the locker, looking Anshika up and down. It was the school’s annual Own Clothes Day, and Anshika had spent hours picking out the perfect outfit, denying to herself that it was because she wanted Padma to notice her. “Cute outfit. I like the jeans especially.”
Although she’d prepared for that moment for nearly an hour the night before, practising a smooth thanks as she opened her locker, Anshika fumbled and blushed as she had to look away.
“Thanks…” she whispered. “I like your jacket.”
Padma’s smile grew as she twirled around to showcase the outfit better. “Really? Thanks, girl. You have a good eye for fashion so I know I did good.”
The way she’d said it, coupled with her killer smile, still made Anshika want to hide her head in her hands until she was composed enough to look up.
The memory made her smile even as she wrote it down on the paper. To think she’d ended up with Padma still awed her every day. She didn’t know how she’d lucked out, to have a beautiful, kind, loving, amazing.
God, that list could go on forever.
She shook her head, tapping her pen against her chin. Her eyes brightened as an idea came to her.
2) You’re a good dancer
It was a monsoon evening – Indradev was clearly determined to let Bengaluru feel the full might of his power, rain splashing down relentlessly, flooding the streets with cool water. Anshika looked up from her homework as a shrill whistle sounded outside her window.
She gaped, mouth wide open, at the sight in front of her.
“Padma?” she was out of the door in a second, clutching an umbrella and staring at her girlfriend in utter disbelief. “PADMA, you idiot! What are you doing?”
She ran to shield her with the umbrella, unable to take her eyes off of her gorgeous kurta that stuck to her damp skin, chest heaving with the effort of dancing in the rain, slim waist emphasised by-
Woah, woah. Slow down. She thought.
Managing to tear her eyes off of her girlfriend, Anshika looked up to see a mischievous smirk playing on Padma’s face. Her brows furrowed in confusion. “Padma? What are you-”
In one swift movement, Padma knocked the umbrella out of Anshika’s hand and kissed her on the cheek. Rain drenched her in seconds, making her thin t-shirt and skirt cling to her figure.
The spot seemed to burn with a lively fire as Anshika brought her fingers to touch it.
“Come on, baby!” Padma was already raising her arms to the sky, throwing her head back in bliss. “Let’s dance!”
Anshika had been too embarrassed to admit that she couldn’t dance, but the free, flowing way that Padma was moving seemed so liberating.
Soon, they were both spinning in the rain, their homework long forgotten.
Anshika hid a secret smile at how silly they had been – newly dating, getting used to the idea of being close to each other as more than friends. Relishing in the experience that would come to them perhaps once-in-a-lifetime.
Nine minutes left of class.
She had better get a move on if she wanted Padma to read the note before the end. She racked her brains for an idea.
3) You make me feel pretty
“Wow, Anshika. Looks nice, but… have you considered losing some weight? All the modern, fashionable models weigh around…” Tanul looked Anshika up and down as she curled into herself. “…ten, fifteen kilos less than you?”
Anshika’s throat felt dry and parched. Everything she had wanted to say died on her tongue as, not for the first time, she looked down at her body and hated what she saw. All this ugly flab… her stomach wasn’t toned at all and her thighs seemed so fat when she sat down!
Of course, she had felt that way before, but this was the first time someone else had pointed it out.
Just then, a small laugh cut across the silence. “What do you mean, Tanul?” Padma, her saviour, leaned her elbows on the table casually as she offered her signature tilted-head smile. “I think Anshika’s figure is really nice! After all, a bit of definition in terms of body shape suits so many more clothing styles than tall and thin.”
Padma turned to her, looking her up and down just as Tanul had done barely seconds ago. “Hmm… oh yeah, some of my clothes would look so good on you. Plus, you always wear those nice tops with those loose jeans-”
Anshika knew the ones she was talking about, but was flustered that she remembered. They were her favourite pair.
“-and with that one jacket you always wear, it looks so good.” For a second, Padma looked almost envious. “Most of the clothes I buy hang off me as if I was a scarecrow.” She held up her thin wrist laughingly, and suddenly, Anshika felt a lot better.
Nowadays, what with Padma complimenting her nearly every day (and her attempting to do so back despite her shyness), god knows she felt so much more comfortable in her own body, not so pressured to conform to the unrealistic standards all over the place.
4) You call me cute names
“Ay, meri jaan.” Padma swung a hand around her shoulders easily as they walked through the corridors, flashing her a cheesy smile. Anshika had blushed, and then returned the hug. “Good to see you too, Padma.”
“Sweetiepie, I don’t think that’s how you do it.” Leaning over her maths book as she explained a problem to her.
“Of all the things, you call me ‘sweetie pie’?” Anshika had deadpanned, brushing her away teasingly. “You lovesick fool.”
“You’re so smart, babe.” Pouting as Anshika corrected her Hindi homework.
“What’s all this ‘babe’, ‘cutie’, ‘meri jaan’ stuff?” Anshika asked her one day, amused. “If you focused so much on schoolwork as you did on giving me nicknames, you would be top of the class.”
“I want to give you nicknames that are as cute as you!” she had beamed. Winking at her slyly, “what do you think, meri jaan?”
After that, Anshika couldn’t find it in her to refuse the nicknames.
What was the newest one? Oh yeah, bantu or something equally cutesy. She would never admit it to Padma, not in a million years, but she adored the effort she put into finding her new nicknames almost every day. It was a lot more than just liking the names. It was one of the biggest reasons she was falling more and more in love with her every single day.
5) You give nice hugs!
The number of times Padma kept hugging her was uncountable, and although Anshika had never really liked hugs – these hugs were different. Warm and comfortable, and something about them felt just like coming home.
Anshika looked at the sheet again. It didn’t feel like enough. She always wanted to give Padma more love, more and more so she really knew how much she was appreciated and loved.
5 + 1) You send me memes at 3am whenever I can’t sleep
After all, if that wasn’t the indicator of true love, then what was?
With three minutes left until the end of class, Anshika flicked the note back over to Padma. Sure, she felt cringe, but it was all worth it when a smile lit up her face, as bright as a thousand suns.
of course, for 5+1 i just had to put memes at 3am. would i even be a tumblr user if i didnt???
#gay#lesbian#desi lgbt+ fest#indian kahani#indian-kahani#avani writes#anshika x padma#anshika#padma#i actually kinda like this one#now that i've written it#time to go back to my cave#thanks for all the support#thanks for all the love#wlw in writing?#i hope i'm representing these well#trying my best to be respectful as possible

The Surprise
It was a cloudy day. Not too gloomy, the clouds were just the perfect shade of grey. I was getting ready to spend my day off laying on my couch, reading ‘Hold Still’ for the umpteenth time. It was Sunday, the beloved day for all to go hang out with their friends and family. But I had none, at least not where I lived.
I lived in Bengaluru then, working my new job. It was a great offer; so, even though I had to leave my family back in Odisha, I decided to take the job. The first few weeks were manageable; I was busy with shifting and putting things in order in my tiny new apartment. But after everything was settled, I started feeling the initial pangs of homesickness. I started missing my mom’s cooking, my sister’s annoying giggles, and even our street dogs’ unending howling. In short, I missed even the most annoying things about my hometown.
Work was good, though it was tiring. We had to work continuously for five hours before getting a one-hour break, and then again work for four long hours. The compensation we got wasn’t bad either; uninterrupted weekends at home, and a decent salary along with social benefits. The toil was worth the fruit.
I sat down with my breakfast tray, the T.V. remote in hand. I surfed channels until I reached the news channel. Just when I was about to take a bite out of the aloo paratha, I got a call. A smile spread on my lips as I saw the name on the screen, ‘Rashmi Aunty’. I picked up the call after pressing ‘Mute’ on the remote.
“Hello, Aunty! Namaskar!” “Yes, beti. Namaskar. How are you?” “I’m good, Aunty. How about you?” “Yes, dear. I’m all fit. By the way, I have a favour to ask.” “Sure, Aunty. What is it?” “Can you call Priyal to check where she’s reached? That brat isn’t picking up my call. She left home yesterday to give you a surprise visit.” “What- O-Okay, Aunty. I’ll call her right away. Bye!” “Bye, beti.”
Priyal is my best friend. We’ve been friends since kindergarten. And yes, she lived back in Odisha. I really had no idea that she was visiting. I was happy and, at the same time, was a bit disappointed that Aunty spoilt the surprise. I smiled and picked up my phone, hiding my excitement even though I lived alone. I turned my back to the T.V. as I walked into the kitchen, ignoring the news playing on the channel.
I scrolled through my contacts and pressed Priyal’s name. The call rang for a few moments, but it was unanswered. I tried her other number; that too was unanswered. “My girl is so dedicated to surprise me. Poor child! I’m just gonna act surprised,” I said aloud. “Ah, dumb me forgot to ask Aunty how she’s getting here,” I said with a facepalm. After another call with Rashmi Aunty, I got to know that Priyal had boarded a train to Bengaluru which was to arrive that day at 10.30 a.m. I looked at my watch, it read 9.55 a.m. I decided to go pick her up from the station myself, intending to surprise her instead.
I changed into a pair of denim jeans and a black oversized hoodie before hopping on my scooty and starting for the station. On reaching, I saw that the station entrance was unnaturally crowded. People were screaming, yelling, and rushing in and out of the station. There were multiple ambulances with sirens; the medical staff rushed into the station with stretchers. Many people were pouring out with bloodied clothes. I began panicking.
I parked my scooty hastily and ran over to an ambulance. I went up to a nurse and asked, “Sister, what is this situation?” The maiden, who had just finished writing something in a register, looked up at me with distressed eyes and replied, “There has been a severe train accident a few metres from the station, ma’am. There have been many casualties. Please move out of the way and make way for the patients!”
I stumbled aside as I saw a severely wounded person being brought on a stretcher into the ambulance. My mind went blank for a few moments. The only image that came to my mind was that of Priyal; she had boarded a train to visit me.
She had boarded a train to visit me.
I rushed into the station and started screaming out Priyal’s name like a mad woman. I collided with many people, some desperately searching for a loved one, some desperately wanting a loved one to find them. Everyone was in hysterics; the atmosphere was one of pure chaos. The air was heavy with dust and the pungent smell of blood. As I neared the edge of the platform, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. A great relief washed over me as I saw the name ‘Piyaaa’ flashing on the screen.
“Hello, Piya?! Are you fine? Where are you right now?” I yelled into the phone the moment I picked up the call. “Hello? Am I speaking to Miss Baanhi?” came an unfamiliar voice from the other side. “Yes? Who is this and where is Priyal?” I screamed into the phone, my voice cracking in the middle.
----------------------------------
I ran to the reception and asked for the whereabouts of Priyal. The receptionist gave me a room number and a floor number which I blindly jabbed into the elevator. My legs seemed to have a brain of their own as they carried me to a large crowded room. There were around 30 beds in that room. Each bed was occupied by a patient, maimed and still. And beside almost every bed was that loved one who was waiting for their surprise visit. I scanned the room for the face I was looking for; I found it in a corner. I rushed over to her side. A doctor had just finished examining Priyal and was moving on to the next patient with a disheartened look.
“Doctor, doctor! What is wrong with her? She will survive, right?” I asked desperately, grabbing the doctor’s arm. She held my hand gently and said, “I’m afraid, Miss. You don’t have much time together. We tried all we could. Her spine is badly damaged and 20 of her vertebrae have been crushed. I’m really sorry.”
These words fell on my ears like lightning bolts. I felt my phone vibrate in my hand. ‘Rashmi Aunty’ was the name on the screen. The phone slipped from my grip. I slowly walked up to Priyal’s bed. She had the same face twinkling with mischief, only it was covered with dried blood and hastily wrapped with bandages. Her whole body was bloodied; her arms and legs were covered with bandages too. Her purple tee was discoloured with blood and was torn in many places. The doctors had probably shifted her to this room after examining her condition, and ascertaining that there was no hope of saving her.
There was a drip attached to Priyal, but there was no oxygen mask. The doctors probably didn’t want to waste the precious gas on a lost cause. There was a heart monitor, however, with a feeble reading. I kneeled beside her and took her hand gently.
“Piya?” I called quietly. She slowly opened her eyes and stared at me blankly. After a few seconds, a light of recognition flashed in her eyes as she squeezed my hand. Tears started blurring my vision as I squeezed her hand back.
“Why… Why didn’t you wait for a few more days… Why you…?” I muttered in between sobs. Priyal’s pale lips curled into a weak smile. “Surprise, babe!” She whispered using all her strength. I could say nothing; all I could do was hold her hand and cry my heart out.
“Heiii! Now don’t send me off all messy like that,” I heard Priyal’s feeble voice again. I looked up at her. Her eyes were filled with the same innocence that she had when we were kids. I made a shaky attempt to wipe my tears. Putting on a smile as best as I could, I said, “Shut up, dummy. You’re getting back on your feet within days and we’re celebrating my birthday at my place. No excuses now!”
She chuckled, and I giggled. Tears spilt out of our eyes without us realising. She tightened her grip on my hand. “Baanhi yaar… Tell maa and baba that I’m sorry for not being able to see them for the last time,” Priyal said, sniffing while smiling. “Don’t talk rubbish, Piya! You’re walking out of this horrid place,” I said as if I was consoling myself.
She smiled wider as I felt her grip loosen. “I love you, Baanhi. I’m really happy to have you here with me now. I’m at rest and remember, I’ll be watching over you always…” said my best friend on her deathbed. “I love you more, Piya. I always will…” I muttered. Priyal’s smile never faltered, but the heart monitor did. It showed a flat line.
--------------------------------
It’s still a cloudy day, even after 10 years. The clouds are the perfect shade of grey, yet it feels too gloomy. It’s Sunday, and I’m on my couch reading ‘Hold Still’ for the umpteenth time. I’m still in Bengaluru, with no family or friends to visit me, except for the bright jolly girl in a purple tee who still watches over me.
My phone rings, and a smile spreads on my lips as I see the name on the screen, ‘Rashmi Aunty’.
“Hello, Aunty. Namaskar!” “Yes, beti. How are you?” “I’m good, Aunty. How about you?” “Yes, dear. I’m all fit… I have a favour to ask, by the way.” “Sure, Aunty. What is it?” “Please live well, my child, and be happy.” “I will, Aunty. I definitely will…”

Donations for Aaveer Datta
“Come, come, come here, my baby!” I exclaimed as I was recording my son trying to take his first steps. We never imagined our house would ever be filled with laughter and constant giggles.
But there he was, our little Aaveer who not only filled our life but also our house with love and joy. After all, it was after 4 years that we had our Aaveer. Life seemed perfect. Our entire phone memory was filled with his laughter and playful acts.
He was the most pampered one in the family too but things were never the same again.
After he turned 1 year old, he started falling a little weak. His joy and giggles were slowly fading away. That is when we took him to Sparsh Hospital. There we learned that our little Aaveer was dealing with a severe condition.
I heard my husband ask the doctors, “What do we do now sir? How do we ensure that our son gets better?”
The doctor said that our son had a chance to get better through urgent treatment.
That is when my husband and I decided, we would do whatever we could to make sure our little son was alright.
But to do that, we need your support. Our Aaveer is our first and only child. We want him to grow up, we have planned so many things in his life and we want him to fulfill them.
As parents, we request you to kindly ensure us in giving our son the best life! Allow him to get treated and be happy again” says Aaveer’s mother. -Excerpt from the donation site

GETTING MY FIRST JOB
The overwhelming excitement I am feeling right now is beyond words. It is a testament to the hard work I have invested and the unwavering support from my friends and family that has led me to this incredible opportunity. Although my new job as a mediator at Science Gallery Bengaluru may not directly align with my field of study, I have a strong intuition that this experience will be immensely enriching.
Discovering this internship was a stroke of luck, thanks to my friend's sibling who pointed me in the right direction. Initially, I applied in February, filled with hope, only to receive the disappointing news that I had not made it past the first round. Nonetheless, I celebrated my friend's success as she advanced to the interview stage. Little did I know that fate had something else in store for me.
In May, my friend informed me about another round of applications. Initially hesitant, I heeded my mother's advice and decided to give it another shot. With the help of my friend and her sister, my lackluster CV was transformed into a masterpiece. I am forever grateful for their talent and dedication, as my CV went from a 0 to a perfect 10.
Carefully answering the application questions, I sought guidance from my friend, who had successfully made it through. Even at the late hours of the night, she selflessly replied to my messages, and for that, I am deeply thankful. After meticulously reviewing, rechecking, and revising my application, I finally submitted it, hoping for the best.
A week later, the news arrived—I had been selected for an interview. Ecstatic doesn't even begin to describe the joy that consumed me. However, the interview coincided with my exams, leaving me with little time to prepare. I immersed myself in the handbook and watched two one-hour videos, dedicating an entire day to crafting my presentation. Despite my efforts, the interview itself turned out to be a disaster, leaving me disheartened and discouraged.
I decided to divert my focus towards my exams and temporarily forget about the outcome of the interview. It was during the celebrations of completing my first year, in a moment of pure impulse, that I checked my email, expecting a rejection letter. But to my astonishment, the email I received informed me that I had been selected! I was overwhelmed with happiness, unable to contain my smile.
Now, nearly 20 days later, I find myself holding the contract of my employment, which I eagerly signed. Throughout this journey, many individuals questioned the number of internships I was pursuing and wondered why I hadn't secured a job yet. I am proud that I did not allow these comments to affect me or my determination to succeed.
This blog post serves as a message to my future self, a reminder of my first major achievement as an 18-year-old. I want to remember the excitement, the persistence, and the belief in myself that propelled me forward. This is just the beginning, and I am excited to embark on this new chapter of growth and learning.

Window Seat
Sitting in the window seat of the airplane, like I usually do, I was on my way back home from college. I was tired because of the last few sleepless nights in college and then the physically demanding commute in Tamil Nadu’s local bus to Bengaluru’s Silk Board. And then the torturous pilgrimage to its distant mystical airport. Standing in the BMTC bus with my rucksack on my back and the suitcase at my side, my legs touching it just to make sure I haven’t lost it within the crowd of the bus. Amongst all this chaos all I could do was to pray to the traffic gods to be kind, for I couldn’t afford the economic and mental costs of losing this flight.
Tired from all of this, I found this window seat of the low-fare airline as comfortable as a bed made of clouds we were about to fly through. I always choose the window seat when I travel, whenever given an option. Now that I think about it, I am not really sure why I like the window seat. I mean as a kid I loved it for the view, the joy to look at the world, to fly through the clouds and look at the entire thing with a new perspective. To feel like a bird, free. To feel like a visitor, seeing everything for the first time. But, now things have changed, I barely look out of the window, when I do it is the endless gaze at the infinity and the nothingness between. You know the kind of staring you do when your eyes go out of focus, you seem to be looking at something random, where you are actually looking at nothing. It’s like closing your eyes but with them being wide open. It is when you are intensely thinking about nothing. Those moments seem like momentary stoppage of time and a trance that I get lost in. You stare for long and get lost, then slowly consciousness steals you away from this dream-like state. You resist a little, trying to continue, but you know the magic was over the moment consciousness grabbed your hand to take you away. Other than these escapades it is usually to look beneath when we are landing into the city, look at the civilization there, trying to understand how the city developed over time and how different the place is from the last time I came there. Even home looks like a new place I am visiting. Me being a tourist in my own city.
Now, I sleep through the entire flight. The excitement is lost, it’s the same thing again and again. Nothing new. The attendant with her face plastered with makeup, the fake smile, the dishonest greetings you aren’t sure to whether reciprocate with your own dishonesty and be a part of this meaningless game or to be the arrogant ass and ignore it in its entirety. The fight for the armrest, which more than the actual armrest is about the ego. The sound of the crying baby and other such thorns are what catch my attention in the garden of being. Now, the reason to choose the window seat is so that I get to share it with one more person and not two like the middle seat and to be undisturbed by the diabetics, pregnant ladies, and senior citizens who need to frequently use the toilet, which you face in the aisle seat. As tired as I am at any moment of the day any moment to sleep is used wisely. I don’t bother to wait for the flight to take off and then recline my seat to sleep comfortably. No, thank you! I rather go to sleep immediately, to be woken by turbulence or the bumpy landing of the plane.
This time, like usual I was in my uninclined seat in a deep sleep. Luck had it that this day the flight was facing turbulence. Having traveled frequently in planes and experienced most of the usual scenarios, this seemed to be a ride bumpier than usual. The first-timers were scared and confused, looking at others to gauge whether the situation was normal or there was something to worry about. Few others didn’t wait and immediately started to pray to their gods, were they expecting divine intervention, or were they just trying to soothe themselves, I don’t know. Among these prayers and shrieks of those who couldn’t control it even though they tried their best, there were few who continued their business as usual. A sudden jerk of the plane and the continued shaking woke me up from my deep sleep and had me gain a little consciousness. Still with my eyes closed, disoriented and in this weird mental state which blended dream and reality, I genuinely thought and felt that the plane was nosediving, going through violent vibrations and a crash was inevitable. I honestly believed for that whole second or two that I was going to die that day. No, I didn’t think this, I felt this. And unlike what they say that your life flashes in front of your eyes what flashed in front of me was something that didn’t even last the time it took me to take a gasp of air. It was visually a very short experience but the feeling it left remained, the aftertaste was strong. A feeling of urgency, ecstasy, and regret all mixed together to make this weird concoction you aren’t sure to either savor or just chug. In such moments I have realized there is no observer, it is the doer that exists. There is no mental bandwidth left for the observer in you to play his/her role. Therefore in such moments you just are there, experiencing. In this state of confusion and fear, I made an immediate decision to which I am not sure how to react to. At that very moment when I felt I was about to die in a plane crash, I decided to do nothing and go back to sleep. Was it an easy acceptance of the inevitable, a form of giving up too easily? A logical conclusion of the meaningless nature of my actions? My understanding that control is an illusion or was I too sleepy to bother? I am not sure, but as I gained consciousness and came back to reality, I realized what had just happened. All the adrenaline had made me lose my sleep. The observer in me was back in action and I started to stare out of the window.

Small Story 91.Friend's Miracle. Prasanna was completely disappointed after not receiving a reply from his old friend Ram, who had settled in the US. Ram and Prasanna had been good friends since school days. After completing his degree, Ramwent to the US for higher studies and eventually settled in New Jersey. Prasanna, on the other hand, studied in the UK and later settled in Bengaluru. Ram's parents had also moved to Bengaluru. His father, a retired IIM professor, and his mother, a retired bank manager, lived there. Ram was the eldest son, and his younger sister, Chandhini, worked in the IT sector. Prasanna had always wanted his younger brother, Chander, to marry Chandhini, and he had written to Ram about his wish. However, for more than ten days, he received no response, and Ram's phone was switched off. Ram's parents were also in the dark about Ram's whereabouts. One day, Prasanna received an assignment from his office in New Jersey, where Ram lived. On Monday,Prasanna departed for NewJersey and arrived there. His office arranged for him to stay in a hotel for 14 days. The next day, he visited Ram's area, where Ramhad bought a house. When Prasanba rang the bell, a Sikh man answered the door. "I am a friend of Prasanna Ram said, introducing himself. The Sikh man smiled and replied, "I am Satwinder, Ram's colleague. A few months ago, Ram fell down at the office, and I immediately took him to the hospital. He was diagnosed with lung cancer. I asked him to inform his parents, but he refused. He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago, and since he is not married, he asked me to stay at his house. The doctors are hopeful about his recovery, but only after further investigations. Would you like something to eat?" "No, thank you," Prasanna replied. "Can I see him? I need to find out what's happening." Satwinder nodded. "The doctors have advised not to disturb him, but I will take you to the hospital tomorrow." The next day, Satwinder took Prasanna to the hospital. When Prasanna saw Ram, he began shedding tears. Prasanna spoke with the doctors, who informed him that a new doctor, an expert in lung cancer, was due to join the hospital. Her name was Dr. Vasanthi, and she was coming from New Zealand. The following day, Dr. Vasanthi joined the hospital. When she saw Ram was surprised. " how is it that you are here?" she asked, looking at his reports. Ram toowas surprised, as he had not expected to meet Dr. Vasanthi in the US. After college, he thought she had married and settled in New Zealand. Dr. Vasanthi examined Ram and expressed hope that he could survive with the new treatment plan she had developed. Over the following days, her dedication and new methods of treatment helped Prasanna recover. In the meantime, Dr. Vasanthi shared her own story. She had recently lost her husband, Vishnu, to lung cancer. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't save him, and she had dedicated herself to finding ways to help others with similar conditions. Prasanna was grateful to Dr. Vasanthi for her help in saving his friend. Over time, a bond developed between them, and they began to grow closer. Dr. Vasanthi, moved by her feelings and her desire to make peace for her late husband, agreed to marry Ram knowing that he was a surviving cancer patient and an old friend from her college days. Meanwhile, Chander and Chandhini also got married with the blessings of their families.Ram now in a happy relationship with Dr. Vasanthi, was content, knowing that both his brother and his friend had found happiness K.Ragavan 28-11-24

[ad_1] Manvanth Kumar (PC: Maharaja Trophy) In the blur of a moment, disappointment can turn to jubilation. The Karnataka all-rounder, Manvanth Kumar, would have experienced something similar after being picked by Delhi Capitals in the 2025 IPL Auction. For a while, it felt as if his name wouldn’t even appear in the list. However, at the fag end of the two-day auction, it didn’t just crop up on the board, but DC also bagged his services for INR 30 lakh. So, what did Manvanth make about the rollercoaster ride of watching the auction? “I didn’t expect that Delhi Capitals would pick me, initially my name had got skipped,” he told RevSportz. “I thought to myself, ‘I have to work harder, there is always the next season’. Afterwards, they picked me (and that) made me feel very happy.” His family members seemed to have some kind of intuition that Manvanth would land up with an IPL contract. “My parents had plenty of hopes on me (smile),” he said. “They said, ‘we knew that you would get picked’. I had told them not to have such high hopes. They only called me and talked via a video. My brother said, ‘I thought Mumbai would pick you, but DC did in the end.’” Just a few weeks back, there was something else that was echoing in his mind. That was about how to turn his fortunes around in the CK Nayudu Trophy. It didn’t take long for the cheerful cricketer to lay down a marker with both the bat and ball, in a game against Odisha. He accumulated an eye-catching innings of 121 and also plucked nine wickets in the match. Soon, he was picked in the Karnataka squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. “That match mattered a lot to me,” said Manvanth. “After playing the first match, they didn’t play me in a couple of games. I thought, ‘I shouldn’t get dropped again’, I just grabbed the opportunity. I was visualising that kind of an innings as I hadn’t scored a hundred for a while. I was (shadow) batting near the pitch, or thinking about what areas to bowl while standing next to the wicket. It was a green top, I like bowling on a green top.” Due to the busy schedule of having to play CK Nayudu Trophy, he couldn’t attend a couple of trials of IPL franchises. But it looks like the head honchos of a particular team had seen enough of his potential and made up their minds on selecting him. “I could only attend the trials at Mumbai Indians, as I had to play matches in the CK Nayudu trophy,” he said. “I went to their trials three times. I was also called by CSK, RCB and DC. I couldn’t go for DC and RCB’s trials due to the matches. “I bowled well in the first trials. In the first over, I was hit around in the Powerplay, but bowled well in my second over. My batting was okay. In the second trial, it didn’t go as well as I thought.” Before the CK Nayudu tournament, Manvanth also made an impression in the Maharaja Trophy, picking up 15 scalps for Hubli Tigers. In the Bengaluru Blasters-Tigers game, his all-round abilities sparkled brightly. The tall all-rounder accrued a breezy 15-ball 28 for Tigers and then he bagged a four-for. If Shubang Hedge was done in by a delivery that bounced more than expected, then the experienced Mayank Agarwal was dismissed by a cracker – the ball angled in before leaving a stunned Mayank to catch the edge. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Manvanth Kumar in action in the Maharaja T20 Trophy (PC: Maharaja Trophy) If you wondered whether his heroics in that match were confined to those two deliveries, then you were wrong. The game needed as many as three Super Overs to break the deadlock and it was yet again Manvanth who rose to the occasion by cracking a couple of boundaries, including the winning shot, to steer his side to a spine-tingling victory. Incidentally, Manvanth had also taken 22 scalps in last year’s Maharaja Trophy, but he isn’t resting on his laurels. Manvanth seems to have that extra bit of motivation to learn new tricks of the trade in order to pursue excellence. He has tried to fine-tune the art of bowling the knuckle ball as well as nailing the yorkers.
His head was falling away a little bit to the left side and that has been rectified. During that time, he also worked with Mansur Ali Khan and Vinay Kumar, the coach and mentor of Tigers. “Vinay sir had called me over for the Mumbai Indians’ trials,” said Manvanth. “MAK sir also gives me advice. Previously, I wasn’t nailing the yorkers accurately. So, this year, I have improved on bowling the yorkers. Also, how to be mentally strong in different situations, how to make a comeback if you get hit, how to remain patient, all these things I have learnt.” His urge to improve by small percentages could be observed by his reply to a question on his initial thoughts of playing alongside the likes of KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc, T Natarajan and others at DC. “IPL is not a small thing at all,” he said. “Obviously, Mitchell Starc, he played in the IPL finals last season. How was the situation, how he handled the pressure, I will get more clarity on all that.” That is Manvanth’s professional career so far. But there is still a question to be answered. From where did he get the initiation to take up the game of willow and leather? How did it blossom? Here, Hemanth Kumar, his elder brother, ended up playing a pivotal role. “He was the reason why I came to this stage,” said Manvanth. “If he and my father had not made me join (the academy), I wouldn’t have made it till here. By watching him play, I got till here. I joined MUCSC – Mysore University Colleges Sports Council. Now, I am playing for RBNCC.” There is also a small twist in the tale. It turns out that batting was perhaps his main suit a few years ago. But a certain performance convinced Manvanth about his bowling skills. “In my first year in Under-19 Zonals, I had taken 7 wickets for 5 runs in nine overs, that gave me lots of confidence. The reason for me becoming more of a bowler than a batter was that spell.” Not just his brother, but Manvanth also draws inspiration from England captain and star all-rounder, Ben Stokes. “I like Stokes, the kind of role he plays for the team,” he said. “I like his mindset, how he keeps getting the breakthroughs when the team needs it the most. The one innings that I like about him is that knock in Leeds (versus Australia), how he won the game for England, how he rotated the strike, his aggression, playing reverse sweeps. It was too good.” There is one more quality that stands out about Manvanth. Whatever the question, he seems to wear a smile. Probably, he knows when to switch on and switch off. That trait of Manvanth could help him to survive the hard grind of playing in the IPL.
