Ayurvedic medicine 'Mulethi' is effective in treating corona virus
Tumblr media
New delhi date. Monday, June 8, 2020
Preparations are now underway to use Ayurvedic herbs on a large scale in the fight against Kovid-19. In this regard, a few days ago, the Drug Controller of India had approved the use of four ayurvedic herbs, including Ashwagandha, and an ayurvedic medicine called AYUSH-64.
This step has been taken on the initiative of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Ministry of AYUSH. Currently the ayurvedic herbs that have been approved for clinical trials, including Ashwagandha, include Yashtimadhu (Mulethi), Pipli and Galo (Giloy). So let us know the opinions of Rajiv Pundir, an Ayurvedic doctor from Delhi.
Why keep what is healthy healthy
Corona is a disease caused by a virus that invades a person's respiratory tract and puts the patient in a critical condition within a matter of days. According to the principles of Ayurveda, first of all we should think about 'Swasthya Swasthya Rakshan' i.e. how to maintain the health of those who are healthy.
Because of this, the Ministry of AYUSH and CSIR have developed a combination of four herbs to fight the disease and boost the immune system so that people develop the ability to fight the disease.
In it Ashwagandha keeps the nervous system healthy, Mulethi or Jethimadh and Pipli i.e. small pepper has a positive effect on the respiratory system of a person and throat is a famous antipyretic. The combination of all these herbs will boost the immune system of the patient which will be useful in preventing not only coronary heart disease but also other diseases.
It is advisable to experiment with this mixture by making decoction as described in Ayurveda. To make the extract, take equal quantity of all the four herbs (each herb 2.5 grams, total 10 grams) and boil a little sugar in four times water.
Then a quarter of the water is left to be filtered and consumed when it is warm. Taking it morning and evening for 15 consecutive days can boost the immune system and also prevent the effects of Covid-19.
Treatment of the patient after the disease has subsided
The next principle of Ayurveda is 'Atusya Vikar Prashamnam' i.e. treatment of the patient after the disease is over. Coronary infections invade the patient's respiratory tract and, depending on their severity, the disease can be treated with trigeminal neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, and trigeminal neuralgia.
Special herbs used in these diseases like Sitopaladi powder, Talisadi powder, Chandramrut juice, Kadaketu juice, Respiratory juice, Vasavaleh, Kankasav etc. can also prove to be effective but it should be used only under the supervision of experts.
Follow these rules
In the present times, it is necessary for everyone to pay special attention to diet. Fresh food including normal vegetables, bread, lentils, rice should be taken and milk, ghee and fresh curd should be consumed as much as possible. Stale food, sour foods, sour yogurt, imported foods, sour fruit juices, meat, alcohol and smoking should not be consumed by mistake.
Refrigerated cold water should be avoided and lukewarm water should be drunk to give special benefits to the respiratory system. Other than that going to crowded places should be avoided.

Rheumatoid Arthritis, Causes, Symptoms and Home Remedies
Medically reviewed by Dr. Shunmukha Priya, Ph.D. in Food Science and Nutrition
An inflammatory disease, rheumatoid arthritis occurs when your immune system mistakes your healthy cells to be invaders and starts destroying them. During this time, the affected part swells; Rheumatoid arthritis is believed to occur mainly in the joints.
What is Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder. This disease can affect more than just your joints. In some people, the condition can damage a wide variety of body systems, including the skin, eyes, lungs, heart and blood vessels.
An autoimmune disorder, rheumatoid arthritis occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks your own body’s tissues. This particular disease is not just limited to your joints, but it also affects mental and physical health.
The pain and dysfunction that comes with Rheumatoid arthritis can affect a person’s work, mental health and also family life. Depression and anxiety are common to deal with. Usual feelings of helplessness and low self-esteem occur regularly.
Physically Rheumatoid arthritis can lead to deformed, painful and swollen joints; Other symptoms or effects are loss of appetite, fatigue and fever. This particular change can affect your ability to do physical activities and hence leads to weight gain or obesity.[1]
According to a study,
The annual frequency of Rheumatoid arthritis is approximately 3 cases per 10,000 population globally. The prevalence rate of this disease is approximately 1%. This particular disease increases with age and generally between the ages of 35 and 50 years.[2]
Causes of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis occurs when the immune system attacks the synovium which is the lining of the membranes surrounding the body joints. The inflammation occurred during this attack thickens the synovium. and later destroys the cartilage and bone within the joints.
The joints are held together by the tendons and ligaments; this weakens and starts to stretch. With time, the alignment and the shape of the joints gets misplaced.
Exact cause for this sort of scenario in the body is not known, although a genetic component appears likely.
While your genes do not actually cause rheumatoid arthritis, they can make you more susceptible to environmental factors. Such as infection with certain viruses and bacteria that may trigger the disease.[3]
Signs and Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Signs and symptoms of Rheumatoid arthritis may vary among every individual in terms of severity and they may even come and go. Periods of increased disease activity, called flares, alternate with periods of relative remission when the swelling and pain fade or disappear.
Some of the common Rheumatoid arthritis symptoms are:
Tenderness, warmth in the swollen joints.
Stiffness in the joints. This is worse in the morning and if you are inactive for a longer period.
Loss of appetite, and sometimes fatigue and fever.
Over time, this disease causes joints to deform from origin and shift out of place. These flares are common or serious during cold and cloudy weather. Extra precautions have to be taken during this period to avoid serious health damages.[4]
Holistic Solution for Rheumatoid Arthritis
Some of the basic precautions has to be taken to avoid serious complications especially during cold and windy weather:
Get physically active by exercising more often to keep your joints active and mobile.
Consume lukewarm water regularly and do not ignore this particular remedy. Because maximum health solutions come with drinking water more often.
When you have rheumatoid arthritis, the digestive system might get compromised due to side effects of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory); Hence avoid intake of raw food, since raw food can aggravate the symptoms.
Rheumatoid arthritis patients are sensitive and more susceptible to other infections. Hence, gargling with lukewarm water with some salt and turmeric; warm water steam/inhalers protects from seasonal flu.
Rheumatoid arthritis patients are prone to joint degeneration and porosity. Therefore, regular supplementation of calcium and Vitamin D is important to the patients.[5]
Include anti-inflammatory foods and supplements in the diet. This is because the inflammatory process involved in Rheumatoid arthritis can result in complications of heart and lungs; That is to say it might result in hardened arteries, inflammation and scarring of lung tissue.
Rheumatoid Arthritis and Body weight
Obesity and being overweight are major risk factors for rheumatoid arthritis. Not only weight gain, sometimes you might as well lose weight and that is not good either.
Weight loss can come as a side effect of Rheumatoid arthritis medication. These medications cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea and ultimately weight loss.
A person with Rheumatoid arthritis might lose their appetite as a result of their symptoms; this can also cause unintentional weight loss.
According to the arthritis foundation, an estimated two-thirds of people with rheumatoid arthritis are overweight or have obesity. Rheumatoid arthritis restricts your everyday activities, exercises which leads to weight gain due to a sedentary lifestyle.
Steroids used in the Rx can cause weight gain.[6]
Few studies conducted with relation of RA and obesity:
The BMI distribution of a certain population in Germany was examined. A data source with a representative sample of the German population was used as a comparator. BMI categories of underweight (Less than 18.5 BMI), normal weight (between 18.5 and 25 BMI), overweight (between 25 to 30 BMI) and obese (above 30 BMI) were used.
The prevalence of obesity was higher among people with rheumatoid arthritis when compared to that of people without arthritis. The dominance of obesity in females and the different behaviour of disease activity markers in relation to the BMI in females indicate that additional parameters need to be considered when analysing the impact of obesity on inflammation in Rheumatoid Arthritis. [7][8]

With a variety of whole spices, ingredients and herbs easily found in an Indian household, the decoction is the most inexpensive home remedy to strengthen your immunity and fight infections.

Dr Ashutosh Gautam, Clinical Operations and Coordination Manager, Baidyanath, tells us, “Ayurveda goes back to five hundred years, and the practice of making and having kadha is almost that old. In fact, the decoction or the spice mixture is considered to be one of the oldest forms of medicine invented by humanity.” According to Panchvidh Kashyapam described in the Charak Samhita (ancient text on Ayurveda), there are five way to consume medicinal herbs and plants. These are as follows:
Swaras (juicing)
Kwath (decoction)
Kalka (in paste form)
Hima (an herb induced concoction, prepared and consumed like tea)
Phant (an herb-infused concoction where aromatic herbs are soaked in water. The valuable nutrients from the extract get dissolved in water which is then consumed).
“Kadha is basically prepared with ingredients that you can’t juice like dry spices and herbs such as giloy or guduchi. The best way to extract their benefits and medicinal qualities is to make a decoction along with other natural immunity boosters like ginger, honey and tulsi,” he adds.
A kadha can be made in many ways and it can be a combination of many ingredients. It is like an age-old granny’s remedy and therefore, every household may have their own recipe.
3 ways to make kadha at home to boost your immunity and battle monsoon woes.
Grind Tulsi leaves, black pepper and Ginger together and then boil them in water. To sweeten the concoction you can add some honey. This kadha works wonders for cold and cough.
Mix half teaspoon of cinnamon powder in a cup of water and bring it to boil. Add a teaspoon of honey and drink up for strength and energy.
Grind about half teaspoon of giloy guduchi (Indian Tinospora ), add it to a cup of water and boil. This decoction aids digestion, boosts your immunity and fights symptoms of flu.
Stay strong with these natural immunity boosters that act as precautionary measures and may help in faster recovery. However, if you’re suffering from a prolonged infection or one that keeps coming back, you must consult a doctor.
