（中央社倫敦2018年10月23日綜合外電報導）全球第一種加密貨幣比特幣（bitcoin）2008年10月31日問世後，10年來已成為一套複雜金融體系中的最顯著要角，市場和投資人均謹慎以對。

比特幣在金融海嘯期間首度出現時，就帶有政治性願景。當時有人以鮮為人知的化名「中本聰」（Satoshi Nakamoto）發表一篇論文，闡述比特幣的「抽象概念」，是「純粹個人對個人（peer-to-peer, P2P）版的電子貨幣，可讓線上支付直接從某一方匯給另一方，無須透過金融機構」。比特幣的初始價格幾乎��零，如今約為6400美元。

比特幣誕生10年來，持續透過被稱為區塊鏈（blockchain）的去中央化登錄系統進行交易。

美國投資銀行雷曼兄弟（Lehman Brothers）2008年9月破產，助長加密貨幣的發展。2011年創辦法國首家比特幣交易所的諾瓦札（Pierre Noizat）表示，雷曼兄弟破產，讓「一小群菁英銀行家…建立貨幣規則強加於所有人身上」的傳統體系受到質疑。

比特幣問世後，有長達數年的時間並未受到公眾關注，卻引起駭客和犯罪分子注意，尤其是不法分子將其視為洗錢管道。

2013年，比特幣價格首度突破1000美元，開始引起金融機構注意。歐洲中央銀行（European CentralBank）拿它和龐氏騙局（Ponzi scheme）相提並論，時任美國聯邦準備理事會（Fed）主席的柏南奇（BenBernanke）卻肯定其發展潛力。

比特幣2014年初面臨問世以來的最大危機，佔全球此種貨幣交易量80%的交易平台Mt. Gox遭駭客入侵，導致比特幣價格崩盤。有人因此預測，比特幣將會滅亡。

直到2017年初，比特幣價格才恢復Mt. Gox遭駭事件前的水準。

諾瓦札表示，這象徵比特幣的「轉捩點」到來。

彭博（Bloomberg）的資料顯示，2017年底前，此一充滿爭議的加密貨幣暴漲至逾1萬9500美元。專門統計加密貨幣市場資本的網站Coinmarketcap指出，這代表比特幣的總市值破3000億美元。

2018年1月，比特幣的總市值超過8000億美元，不過泡沫不久後就破裂。

加密貨幣分析師麥陶華（Bob McDowall）表示，拜比特幣之賜，數位貨幣概念的發展有長足進展，迄今共出現2000種競爭貨幣。
