Peter and Mary Jane Parker in: We Keep Giving Our Alt Universe Kids Really Stupid Names

- May “Mayday” Parker (MC2): Listen guys, I love Mayday, but her nickname is all kinds of dumb. It’s like something out of a 90s sitcom that felt it needed to give its characters tortured nicknames no one in the real world ever would go by (ok disgustingly 90s is actually most of MC2’s aesthetic…I still love it and it’s cheesy, dumb second person narration, okay?)

- Benjamin “Benjy” Parker (MC2): Peter. MJ. If you were going to name a kid after Ben Rilley and Uncle Ben, you could have at least done right by their coolness cred to not warp it into a goddamn dog’s name (or let May warp it into a goddamn dog’s name). Good job, his name may as well be Fido.

- April Parker (MC2): Okay, I get this child is a bundle of issues and named herself. That does not change the the fact that someone should have sat her down and just been like, no, the month theme naming thing is dumb. Get your passive aggressive revenge on May some other way. Also, we should probably get you a nice, superpowered X-People therapist before sending you to your first day of school. That would have cleared up like three plot lines of stuff. Side note: the X-People is a dumb name. This has nothing to do with April or really even the Parkers, but it should be noted. Because seriously.

- Reilly Tyne (MC2): So this is actually Kaine’s fault for not finding him and his mother, Ben’s girlfriend Elizabeth, earlier and stopping this before it could be put on a birth certificate. But the clones all share Peter’s brain on a fundamental level, so I’m blaming him too. The blueprint for which this stupid started, began with Peter. But anyways here’s the point: He’s Ben’s kid even if he never knew Ben. If he were to start going by his father’s name he’d be…Reilly Reilly. He’s fucking moon moon. Also, Kaine. Sweetheart. You are not a role model in which someone should look for when choosing a code name. You go by freaking Kaine because of your issues with your brothers for goodness sake (oh god you’re where April got it from, aren’t you? This whole family is not allowed to name people). Darkdevil just drips the 90s edge trying too hard. I don’t care if it makes sense with how he got his power and having daredevils soul, and yada yada. It is a dumb fucking 90s code name.

- Anna “Annie” May Parker (Renew Your Vows): Will we ever stop giving this poor, sweet, adorable child grief about how her dumb name sounds like Anime? Probably not. Again, the naming kids after people thing is sweet. If you just had her go by Anna and picked a better middle name we wouldn’t have had this problem. But nope, Peter, you had to be selfish and put your aunt in there too. You named your kid anime. This is your fault.

- Mary Parker (that one future at the end of Sensational #40). Look it’s actually not that bad, especially when compared with the rest of these. But as someone that would have been saddled with the shame of being a third generation Edward if I had been born a boy (I would have grown up with that name at the height of Twilight mania in middle school), I think that sometimes we must consider that family names are dumb. And just Peter sweetie, that while you’re clearly going for honoring Mary Parker I, let’s not forget momma MJ is also a Mary. And MJ, sweetheart, it just kind of sounds like you let Peter talk you in naming your kid after yourself. Sweetie it’s lame. Like really dorky and lame. But also the least awful name on here…so kudos?

Waukesha West builds 28-point lead, cruises over Waukesha South

WAUKESHA – Cam Palesse has been one of the top players in the Classic 8 Conference throughout 2019-20, and Tuesday night was no different.

The junior wing was stellar in all facets of Waukesha West’s 56-42 conference victory over Waukesha South, scoring 21 points, including 14 in the first half. The Wolverines (11-9, 9-6 Classic 8) effectively erased all doubt with a 17-3 run to begin the game and a 9-0 run to end the first half. West led by as many as 28 points before the Blackshirts (3-18, 0-15 Classic 8) gained some offensive momentum late in the second half.

“I think our start was amazing and that’s been a focus of ours this year,” Wolverines’ coach Don LaValle said. “When we start fast and we establish defensive intensity early on, it usually sets the tone for a really good game.”

“We didn’t come out with confidence,” South coach Bo Richter said. “We didn’t play hard to start the game in the first half. They took it to us. We didn’t have it in the first half.”

The Wolverines controlled the first half. Palesse scored eight points during the team’s opening rally. The road squad utilized its ability to penetrate the lane and score inside throughout the first half. Sophomore forward Cal Krohn also converted a 3-point play during the run.

“We weren’t ready to match his intensity,” said Richter of Palesse. “He’s averaging 25 a game and got 21 tonight. He’s good.”

“We talk about paint touches,” LaValle said. “Paint touches lead to scores, whether we’re getting it off the bounce or we’re getting it through the post. When we get a piece of the paint, good things happen.

South senior guard Jabril Rilley knocked down a 3-pointer to end the flurry and had the Blackshirts’ first six points. Palesse and senior guard Ben Hetzel had all eight points of an 8-2 run after that to push the Wolverines’ lead to 17.

“Ben Hetzel has been great all year at penetrating, getting to the lane, putting pressure on defenses,” LaValle said. “He’s very energetic and gives us a great spark out there.”

West went on its half-ending run following a jumper by South freshman guard Tyran Cook with five minutes to play. Junior guard Peter Skogman scored seven of the points, including the Wolverines’ only 3-pointer of the first half. Palesse finished the frame with a steal and fast-break layup to give West a 34-10 lead at the break.

“We have a lot of spacing because we have some really good shooters on the team,” Palesse said. “That opened up a lot of driving lanes. Our big focus was just to dominate the glass. We knew we had the height advantage.”

“When we come out and really commit to a strong pressure defense, it sets the tone and kind of gets our offense going,” LaValle said. “Defensively, we were amazing in that first half and that was a huge way to start this ballgame.”

Skogman, who finished second for the Wolverines with 12 points, scored four early in the second half to help give the road squad its largest lead just over a minute and a half into the frame.

South did not let the Wolverines increase their advantage beyond that the rest of the game and sustained some momentum in the last few minutes. The Blackshirts began connecting from 3-point range, with triples from senior forward Mason Henes, freshman guard Daniel Robinson and three from junior guard Roger Greengrass, who led South with 13 points. Henes also converted a 3-point play during the South rally.

“All these kids have been through a lot of adversity in their lives and I would expect that,” said Richter of his team’s continued effort. “The second half was better. We did some nice things and moved the ball a little better. We’ve got to play a full 36 minutes in order to win a game.”

“I wish we would have made a couple more shots like that in the first half,” said Richter of Greengrass’ 3-pointers. “If we do that the first half, it’s probably a different outcome. I’m really proud of his efforts and his confidence coming out, even though he didn’t play a ton of minutes. He’s a special young man and I’m proud of him.”

West will look to knock off Arrowhead on Friday, who remains undefeated in conference play. The Warhawks defeated the Wolverines, 93-69, on December 20.

“They are a beast,” said LaValle of Arrowhead. “They are playing so well right now. (Senior forward) Carter Gilmore is so good. It’s been fun to watch him have great success this year. We have to go in and hit shots. We’ve got to have a really, really good night. We’ve got to bring that defensive intensity.”

Gianluca Tagliazucchi ha partecipato a vari festival e rassegne tra cui Montreux, Lago Maggiore, La Spezia, Genova, Acqui in Jazz, Siena Jazz, Ferrara, Nuoro, Susa Open Music, MITO Settembre Musica, Altitude Jazz di Briançon. Ha collaborato con: Lee Konitz, Harold Land, Tom Harrell, Charlie Mariano, Bill Watrous, Paul Jeffrey, Sheila Jordan, Cameron Brown, George Roberts, Dusko Gojkovic, Sangoma Everett, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Gianni Basso, Tullio De Piscopo. Tagliazuchi è attivo sulla scena del jazz dal 1985, svolgendo attività concertistica, didattica e di arrangiatore per big band e combo jazz.

Aldo Zunino è una delle colonne portanti del jazz italiano, un contrabbassista stimato e acclamato in patria come all’estero con una carriera ultratrentennale. Musicista completo, dal fraseggio impeccabile, Zunino è da sempre distinguibile per il timbro meraviglioso del suo strumento, che ama suonare dovunque senza alcuna amplificazione. Le sue collaborazioni sono molteplici e blasonate: Benny Golson, Art Farmer, Jimmy Cobb, Tommy Flanagan, Joe Chambers, Gary Bartz, Harry Sweets Edison, Calrk Tery, Ben Rilley, Kenny Burrel, Lester Bowie, Cedar Walton, Tony Scott, Nat Adderley, solo per citarne alcune. Zunino affianca, alla incessante attività live, anche l’attività didattica con corsi e master class in tutta Italia oltre ad essere uno degli insegnanti che partecipano stabilmente al “Bobby Durham’s Jazz Camp” che si tiene ogni anno a Isola del Cantone (Genova).

Aprirà la serata il progetto “Airon’s Mood”, che vede protagonista il pianista Mattia Colombi. Progetto che affonda le sue origini nel jazz e nella musica elettronica, miscelando l’improvvisazione tipica del jazz con suoni e sequenze “prese in prestito” dalla musica elettronica. Il repertorio è anch’esso di ampio respiro, spaziando dai brani della tradizione jazz a brani originali passando per brani più “leggeri” quali canzoni e colonne sonore.
