I'm kinda curious: what did you think of the "Alien X-Tinction" special and the appearances by the older versions of Ben? I really liked how they put an emphasis on Alien Force's version of Ben, personally, since that's my favorite version of the character.

I actually wrote a review/analysis of Alien X-Tinction back when it first aired, but I will repeat that one of my favorite things about the writing was that they remained faithful to the original writing of the character throughout those parts of the series. AF and UA Ben were particularly apparent to me in the slight differences in the way they wrote his personality.

Anyway I loved the appearances of the older versions of Ben and this was probably my fave scene <3 how can you not love the return of this attitude

In a world where Alien X-tinction had a much bigger budget and the alternative Bens (and Gwen) had an extra alien each, I’d have them use:

OS Ben: OG Heatblast and Wildmutt

Seeing that this special was used to show off aliens that didn’t get to appear otherwise, Wildmutt makes the most sense to reappear. At first I thought Cannonbolt, but I’d rather not have both of OS Ben’s aliens overlap with Reboot Ben’s.

AF Ben: Chromastone, Big Chill, and Echo Echo

I’m actually satisfied with the two aliens AF Ben uses, but I think letting him use Echo Echo for a moment would be the perfect set up for him to be outdone by…

UA Ben: AmpFibian and Ultimate Echo Echo

I absolutely get not using an Ultimate form do to potential complications. However you can’t really separate the Ultimate gimmick from Ultimate Alien. Plus I like the potential interactions that showing off the evolution function could bring. And personally Ultimate Echo Echo is my favorite Ultimate Form.

OV Ben: Bloxx and Feedback

While I could also see someone like Gravattack or Astrodactyl, I simply think Feedback is the best alien to represent Omniverse.

Gwen 10: Ripjaws and Diamondhead

Diamondhead is the only transformation to appear in both the Original Series episode and the Gwen 10 we see in Omniverse. Making it her most iconic alien in my opinion.

Side note: evil Celestialsapien is a cool idea, and I like that this one is taking a "hands on" approach. It's about the thrill of the hunt :) And loving making people suffer

It's a small thing and it only lasts a second, but in the Classic continuity, Ben only cried on screen TWICE, both when he was 10. Letting an aged man hurt like this without making a joke about it is good to see <3

Hm. I kinda like this angle with Ben's frustration. He feels like he's not living up to his full potential as a hero because he always has Gwen and Max helping him. It's different from when Ben would get cocky in the OG, and I think it's an interesting point, too :p This blatantly isn't about being a hero, it's about the thrill, which is something that ten-year-old Ben consistently struggled with

Still hate reboot Heatblast, but whatever

I definitely don't like how the fights are animated? It feels... slow. And I get part of that is to build up suspense/show of Alien X's abilities, since this show is aimed at a younger audience who wouldn't be familiar with the Classic continuity, but still :/ I don't like the flat camera angles and the hits don't have a lot of weight to them

Love that Alien X is killing off Ben's, though — something Eon was always too pussy to do

I love villains who are obsessed with Ben Killing him, hunting him down, whatever. Watching villains shove aside whatever or whoever gets in their way to pursue Ben with single-minded fervor always hits good.

This fight between Ben and Alien X, up until he loses the Omnitrix, is probably my favorite fight in the special. Alien X was at his coolest and Ben really gave it his all, no matter how badly he got beat in return.

Okay, just finished it. Final thoughts? It was really cute. Is it good enough to get me to watch the rest of the reboot? No. It's definitely not as hype as some of UAF/OV's high points, probably in part because I still can't get into the art style and also because the fight scenes just aren't as good.

It had pretty good pacing! I was surprised by that, I thought 45 minutes was gonna be too short, but it ended up feeling right. (Also, I'm upset to say that Max's voice grew on me. Gwen is on thin ice.)

You can tell that this was made with a lot of love, both for the characters and for Ben 10 as a whole. It really does feel like a love letter to the fandom, and for that, it was a good watch :)

Final score: 7/10, not NEARLY as bad as I was expecting, worth a rewatch <3

And at first I was like "well, that looks funny, some different stories, but that's funny"

I watched first season somewhat normally, but I skipped a lot of episodes, cause I wanted some plot

I just watched Ben 10 reboot: Alien X-tinction. It was really good! It's a great example of how to do good fanservice while having a entertaining story.

I really like watching the Bens from other dimensions interact and talk to each other. It was also nice they added Gwen 10 from the original Ben 10.

The story from Alternative Max was tragic fo what i'm used to see in the series: He lost Ben when he tried going alone against Alien X. This motivated him to save Ben from dying in other universes and preventing Alien X from stealing more Omnitrixs.

It was interesting how in the end Alien X turned out to be an adult Ben from a universe in which he lost Grampa Max and Gwen. This made him break his own omnitrix and transform into Alien X. Then he tried to become one of the most powerful being in the omniverse by talking other Ben's omnitrixes to prove he was strong enough. It's.. a unique twist from i usually expect from the series.

The special has some very good animation and fluid battle scenes. It was really entertaing to watch all the Bens joining forces to stop Ben Alien x.

Overall, i think it was a solid double length episode. It had a few dark moments without losing the humor. It's not perfect but it's definely one the best things that came out of this reboot.

The Gwen 10 Omnitrix in OV is different from the canon one because it's from an alternate reality. It's not an art style issue, as young Ben in OV has an Omnitrix that looks just like it does in the OS.

Also, the upside-down Ultimatrix isn't the only reason why he's not Ben Prime. All of the Ben's in the special aren't consistent with Ben Prime and the plot of the episode wouldn't make sense for any of them to be Ben Prime aside from MAYBE the OV one, which is unlikely given how he doesn't seem to recognise Alien X at all.

Even though I wouldn’t exactly call myself a fan of the Ben 10 reboot (there are some aspects I do like, it’s just the art style and the way some characters are handled that I’m not crazy about), I was watching the Ben 10 Alien X-tinction crossover special for the heck of it, and this popped into my head.

I kinda wish there was a scene where the Bens all compared and contrasted their aliens.

Imagine how AF, UA, and OV Ben would’ve reacted if they found out Reboot Ben already had Rath, Humongousaur and Jetray.
