France and football training
A/n: This work is part of the "be my valentine challenge" by @bemyvalentinechallenge for the day 12 prompt.
Summary: Sadie just changed High Schools any her first encounter with Josh, the american football player, is not the best…
Warnings: blood, curse words, not proof read
I hate new schools. Thankfully this was my first time going to a different school, but I´d never like it, that´s for sure.
Everyone, doesn´t matter in which class, is staring at you and the teachers want to hear you introduce yourself for the 5th time a day.
It was exhausting and humiliating.
And then, there were the students who asked stupid questions. "Why are you here?" "Do you like it here?" "You look younger than 15" "Do you have a boyfriend?". I was so sick of all of these question and people, so was very relieved when lunch time arrived and I had whole 40 minutes to spend some time alone.
So, I bought something to eat and immediately walked to the grandstand of the football field. At home, at my old high school, I always sat at that area during break and enjoyed the great view and the silence around me, apart from the few birds sitting on the trees.
Thankfully, I could do the same here. And there also was enough time to read in my new book I just bought two days ago.
I loved historical books ever since I had been a little child and my mom first told me about the french revolution. She read these stories to me over and over again, and now, I can read them myself.
So, I sat down on the highest bench on the grandstands and quietly enjoyed reading my Napoleon novel.
Peace, silence, book. That´s all I´ll ever need to be happy.
But suddenly, a big football hit my head and I fell against the hard, wodden headboard behind me.
"Owww!" I called out, slowly reaching to the back of my head and feeling warm blood on my hands. My blood.
I was bleeding.
I heard steps and suddenly a boy with curly, black hair sat next to me with a shocked look on his face.
"Oh. My. God. I´m literally so sorry. I didn´t see you sitting there. I just wanted to improve my throwings skills. Normally no one ever comes here." he took a look at the back of my head. "I´d better come with you to the principals office, you should get that checked in the hospital."
I saw his gaze focusing on my book, which I still held in my hands. "History, huh? Bet we could make some." The boy said to me with a cheeky grin on his face and quickly helped me stand up. "I´m Joshua by the way. Let me help you."
"I don´t need help." I said, not even bothering to tell him my name. Boys are stupid little creatures that nobody needs, I would never tell my name to any of them. I walked past him, already in the middle of the stairs when my books fell out of my hands and Joshua picked it up from the ground
"Alright France, let´s just hope you won´t faint from all that blood loss." He said, handing me my book. He seemed to be a rather smart one, since he immediately knew the words "Napoleon" and "war" are connected to France.
"I won´t. Thanks for worrying though. And be careful with that ball next time." And then I walked off.
------------------------------------------------------
"Hey France! Thought you didn´t want to be hit with a ball again."
This. Guy. I just wanted to enjoy my book and hoped he would not be there again. HE was the one who hit me last time and because of him, I had to go to the hospital. I thought he learned something.
"Well, you were the one hitting me, weren´t you?" I responded. I wouldn´t leave this place, I just wanted to read and have a good time with myself, alone.
"I can´t look out for you when I´m training. So you either leave, or I can´t garantee you are not gonna be hit again." He was getting on my nerves, really badly.
"I won´t leave. Better watch out, or I´m gonna tell the principal that there´s a strange guy hitting me with a ball." I hoped this would make him leave me alone, but he was too stubborn.
"You have absolutely no right to that. I was at this school at this place before. So, I´d say you better leave really fast."
I could fight with him any day. But I had enough now. So I stood up from my bench and left. It wasn´t fair.
---------------------------------------------------
"How about you leave today? I already left the other two times!" I said to Joshua. We are seriously having the same argument again and again. He still doesn´t know my name, and to be honest, I started to feel a little bad for him.
But he did not deserve any information about me.
"Oh come on, France! You did it two times, I bet you can do it a third time."
I sighed and stood up.
I swear, this was the last time.
-------------------------------------------------------
"Hey, you!" I rolled my eyes and didn´t even bother to look up from my book.
Him, again. Why couldn´t he just leave me alone."France? Can you hear me? Or do I have to hit you with my ball again?"
I sighed and finally looked up to give him my attention so he would stop shouting at me. I promised myself I wouldn´t be the one leaving today, he already won this argument 4 times, that´s enough times to get his stupid ego higher than it already is anyways.
"What do you want Joshua?" My tone sounded even harsher than I expected it to sound like. But, it felt really satisfying to use so much sarcasm in my words. He deserved it.
"I want to give you two options." I already knew what he was going to say.
"I won't leave today. Forget about it." I didn´t even let him finish.
"Woah. Just let me talk for once. What I wanted to say… Either you leave now and leave me alone." I wanted to stop him from talking but he didn´t let me. "OR you are going to go on a date with me." He suddenly said.
"WHAT? Are you out of your mind?"
"No, I´m not. So, your choice? Are you leaving this place once and for all or going on a date with me?" he asked, having a totally ridiculous grin on his face.
I didn´t want to give him the satisfaction of me actually agreeing to the date, but… I also didn´t want to be the loser again and leave. The voice of my mom suddenly appeared in my mind, telling me to say yes and go on a date with him. Maybe he wasn´t even that bad.
"Okay, which day are we choosing?" I said, really enjoying the surprised and happy look on his face. Looks like he didn´t expect that answer.
"How about tomorrow?"
-----------------------------------------------
I quickly made my way down to the football field where the players still stood. The date with me and Josh went very well, and well… I had my first kiss. We haven´t made it official yet, but he invited me to their first football game of the season and he told me to meet him and his team afterwards. He said: "I want you to see me really play and not only hitting you with the ball." and gave me the tickets for the game.
I hoped he had been as excited for this day as me. I had chosen my outfit very carefully even though I normally never cared about clothing at all (and my mom couldn´t stop laughing at my face when I asked her how to apply make up).
Thankfully they won the game and I could meet his teammates while they were all very happy about their successful game.
It was rather hard to spot him in such a big crowd, but then I saw his short, black hair and the blue tricot with the number "13" printed on it. I quickly ran over to him and he already saw me coming. "Sadie!" he shouted, waving to me. I had a big smile on my face when I reached him and wrapped my arms around his neck, which probably looked pretty hilarious because I was so much shorter than him.
"Good game!" I whispered in his ear and slowly let go of him. 10 pairs of eyes were staring at either me or Joshua and tried understanding this situation. It was the most funny thing I´ve ever seen in my life.
"Sadie, I want you to meet Jack, Hunter, Cole, Alex, Theo, Lewis, William, Christopher, Nate and Jamie." He pointed at each one of the guys and they all tried giving me a warm smile, but failed because their confusion took over, I had to try and hide my laugh. "Boys, this is Sadie… my girlfriend." …
Did he just-
oh my god!
He said girlfriend!
That means we´re officially a couple! I never felt that happy in my life, not even when my mom announced we´re gonna get a cat. Joshua looked at me with a rather terrified look on his face, as if he didn´t knew if I like that word. Silly boy, of course I did.
"Nice to meet you all, Josh told me a lot about y´all." That was a lie, on our date we only talked about history and the french revolution. Because, turns out, Josh is also very much interested in history.
"I have to go now, are we gonna talk later?" I asked Josh and when he gave me a nod, I walked off.
The moment I was leaving, I heard lots of questions thrown at Josh from the boys. "When did you meet?" "Why haven´t you told us?" "Who is she?" "Do you love her?" "Proud of you, bro!" Were only some of them.
Josh had been right all along, we did made some history already.
