Couch
Steve x reader x Thor
Sorry about the short hiatus. Comment or inbox me if you like this pairing so I can continue making them.
Sleep Series
The three of you had been together for years. You knew exactly who they were, and they knew who you were. The three of you had been very honest with each other about who you were and everything that made you who you were.
Steve and Thor had introduced you to their team very early into the relationship and they loved you. The team had told you multiple times you were perfect for the God and the super solider. You made them feel normal, you made them feel happy, it made the team happy to see them happy.
You were fine with them being Avengers. It was something they enjoyed, something they wanted to do. There was only one reason you weren’t okay with their jobs was the missions that went on for weeks to months at a time.
They made you worry, made you panic about their safety and if they would be coming home. When they were able to send word about when they would be coming home, you finally felt like you could breath again.
You would begin to do anything to distract yourself. By the time the boys would return home, the apartment would be sparkling, plates and trays of baked goods would be littered around the kitchen and you would be asleep on the couch.
The first time the two were away for weeks was about five months into your relationship. They were doing a recon mission in Australia and hadn’t been home in five weeks. They’d told you the day before they left it was very likely they wouldn’t be allowed to contact you at all.
“I don’t care if I don’t hear from you at all, just come back alive. Okay?” You’d asked the night before they’d left as you all cuddled together in bed.
“My love, do not doubt us.” Thor said loudly, pulling you closer into his chest. ”We are the earth’s mightiest heroes.” He proclaimed, grabbing Steve’s hand on your other side.
“It’s a simple mission, doll.” Steve added, curling into your back. “We’ll be in no danger.”
You woke up alone the next day and knew it was going to be a long time until the came back.
For the next five weeks you had to try to continue as if everything was normal. You had to go to work and interact with people as if you weren’t in a constant state of panic or worry over your two men. It was Thursday of their fifth week away when you got the call.
“Hello?” You asked, picking up the phone without looking at the caller id. You were busy working on a new cake recipe for the café you owned, so you weren’t exactly paying attention to the phone.
“Hi there, doll.” Steve greeted. At the sound of one of your lover’s voices, you almost dropped the phone in shock.
“Steve. Holy shit. How are you? How’s Thor?” You questioned, turning the stove off so you could focus on the call. “Are you two okay? Are you injured?”
“Doll, calm down.” Steve chuckled. “Everything’s okay. Both Thor and I are safe, alive and well. I just called to say we’ll be home tomorrow.”
“Is that our love?” Thor’s booming voice came through the phone. “I wish to speak to her.”
“Of course, Thor.” Steve said before Thor’s loud voice came through the line.
“My love!” He exclaimed. “Did you hear the news? We shall return by nightfall tomorrow!”
“I did hear. It’s wonderful news, honey.” You said with a large grin. “I can’t wait to see the two of you. I’ve missed my boys.”
“We’ve missed you too, my love.” Thor told you. “I must go, Steven says we cannot talk any longer.” He added, sounding dismayed.
“Alright, I’ll see you two tomorrow. I love you two.” You told him.
“We love you too, Y/N.” Thor said, before he hung up you could hear him asking Steve how to end the call causing you to smile.
They were safe. Your boys were alive and safe. You quickly finished off what you were doing before and made your way to bed. You had things to do tomorrow.
The next day you made a call to one of your employees. Telling them you felt unwell today and wouldn’t be able to come in today, she readily agreed to watch the store for you.
Hanging up, you began to start on your plan. Your men would need, you’d decided. A proper meal and comfort food. It took majority of the day to finish, but it was worth it, it calmed you and it would be good for your boys to get something proper to eat.
By the end of your endeavour, it was nearing seven and your boys still weren’t home, but you were tired. Placing a note on the table, you curled up on the couch intent on waiting up for the two when you started to drift. It wasn’t long until you were asleep.
Non-reader POV
It was nine by the time Thor and Steve arrived at the apartment. The two shared a smile at the sight of their girl curled up asleep on the couch. Steve shut the door and the door shed their gear before Thor, quietly, made his way over to Y/N and picked her up.
He walked her into the shared bedroom while Steve walked into the kitchen. He smiled at the note Y/N left and piled an assortment of foods onto a plate for himself and his boyfriend.
“Welcome home gift.” He explained, sitting on the bed with his partners. Thor smiled and kissed Y/N on the forehead before taking a crepe off the plate.
The two had finished the plateful of food when the woman in between them began to wake up.
“You’re home.” Y/N stated, looking at the two with bleary eyes. “You should’ve woken me.”
“Didn’t want to disturb you.” Steve said, leaning down to kiss the woman. “Thank you for the food.”
“It was delicious, my love.” Thor said, repeating Steve’s actions.
“It’s what I do.” Y/N murmured, curling into their arms. “I’m glad you’re back. I love you two.” She added, beginning to doze again.
“We love you too, doll.” Steve said as Thor had already drifted off. The three of you laid curled together, bellies full and enjoying the safety you all felt in that moment. From then on when the boys went on long missions, they would be welcomed home with a large meal and the sight of Y/N asleep on the couch.
Reader POV
“Doll, please just sit down. You’ve been cooking all day and you’re going to wear a hole in the carpet.” Steve begged, grabbing you by the arms and attempting to get you to sit.
“Sorry Stevie. Thor said he would be home today.” You said, yawning as you curled into Steve. “You know how panicky I get.”
“I know, that’s why you’ve been up since five.” He said, shaking his head. “Go to sleep, doll.” He added, pulling you closer into his chest. He hadn’t even finished his sentence when you’d drifted off.
Thor arrived home an hour later to the sight of both his partners asleep on the couch, plates of still warm food on the table in front of them. He sat next to you both, ate a plateful of food before falling asleep next to you both.
Non-reader POV
“How long has she been asleep?” Steve whispered as he opened the apartment door. Y/N was sleeping against Thor’s chest, fast asleep, and Thor had a plate of food next to him.
“An hour.” Thor supplied. Steve leaned down and kissed the God and then his girl. “She was awake cooking most of the night.” He added as Steve sat beside him.
“She goes to too much trouble.” He sighed, taking a plate from the coffee table. “But the result is delicious.”
Reader POV
The two had been gone for two months. They’d gone over to Australia to deal with a new HYDRA base. They weren’t sure when they were going to be home because they needed to scout the area, find routines, changes in the regime, anything to help them get into the base.
You’d been stuck on the couch for a week. A co-worker had given you the flu and though you were mostly over it, you still felt incredibly tired. It was about three in the afternoon when you were awoken by a loud bang. You were in such a daze you didn’t register what was happening, and that was all they needed.
Three, rough, sets of hands hauled you off the couch. You attempted to struggle but you were still out of it and your attackers used that to their advantage. They stabbed a sedative in your neck and that was it for you.
Non-reader POV
“Capsicle, Point Break, you two might want to see this.” Tony’s voice came over the coms. Thor and Steve shared a look across the field before running into the building.
It had been five months. Five long months without being able to contact their Y/N. Five months of shitty food, and even shitter motel rooms, and five long months of camping out in the Australian heat getting info on this place. But, finally, the day had come.
Today was the perfect day to attack, and they had. Bruce and Tony had gone inside to check the computers and any files they could find while the rest of the team fought off HYDRA agents.
“I’d hurry up you two.” Bruce stressed causing the two men to pick up speed. The two skidded into the room, where Bruce was sitting, a large file in front of him.
“What’s going on, Bruce? Where’s Tony?” Steve questioned, staring at the doctor intently.
“Tony found something and ran off. But this is what you need to see.” Bruce said, handing the super soldier the thick file.
With Thor looking over his shoulder, Steve opened the file and he began to fill with dread.
It was on Y/N. It was everything. Where she was born, where her store was, every cheque she sent off to an employee and her current address. Halfway through the file was a post stick note, “Extract her.” With a date from three months ago.
“Where is she?” Thor snarled, glaring at the file.
“Read the rest.” Bruce sighed, gesturing at the paperwork. Swallowing harshly, Steve turned to the next page.
These pages detailed mental and physical health, attempts at running away, punishments and her responses.
“They took her.” Steve growled, throwing the file on the desk. “Where is she, Bruce?”
“Relax, Capsicle.” Tony’s voice came in. “I found her.” He told them.
“Where?” Steve demanded. Bruce watched the two in concern. Both stood rigid, ready to attack. Gods knew these two would move the stars for their girl. There would be no mercy for anyone found near their girl.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y. will lead you.” Tony said before the Irish accented A.I. began to direct them. The two thundered through the building, any agent they came across was ended quickly by Mjolnir or Steve’s shield.
“It’s okay, Sweet Cheeks. You’re safe now.” They heard Tony’s voice. Turning a corner, they both let out a sigh of relief.
Tony was holding their girl close. Her clothes were tattered and dirty, her hair matted, and her form was frail, obviously malnourished, and weak. She was clinging onto Tony’s neck tightly.
“Y/N.” They both sighed in relief. Y/’N’s head snapped towards them and they were running again.
Reader POV
“Y/N.” You almost sobbed at the sound of their voices.
Time had escaped you in this windowless hell. You’d clung onto your memories of Steve and Thor; they were the only things that helped you through the endless pain you’d endured here.
You’d heard the shouts and gunshots before Tony burst into the room.at seeing the familiar man in red and gold, you’d almost burst into tears.
“Hey there, Sweet Cheeks.” Tony said, slowly moving into the room. He didn’t get very far before you’d rushed over, as fast as your frail form could, and threw your arms around his neck.
“It’s good to see you, Tin Man.” You whispered, hugging him tightly. Tony wrapped his arms around you and moved you both into the hallway.
“It’s okay, Sweet Cheeks. You’re safe now.” He assured.
“Y/N.” Snapping your head to the side you saw the two men you’d been praying to see again.
“Steve. Thor.” You breathed in relief. As quickly as you could, you limped over to the two men. They began running over and met you half-way.
Both boys pulled you into their arms and hugged you so tightly, you thought your ribs would break.
“We should have been there. We shouldn’t have let them take you. Are you okay? Are you hurt?” the two sounded like a pair of broken records. While one was smothering you, the other was murmuring sweet assurances into your ear.
“I’m okay.” You said, pulling back slightly. “I am. I’m okay.” You told them, attempting to assure them as well as yourself.
“We know, Sweetheart.” Steve said, holding your face in his hands as he kissed you soundly. “You’re so strong.”
“So very strong.” Thor agreed, kissing you with as much force as Steve. “And we love you so much.”
“So much.” Tony cleared his throat, disturbing the moment.
“I hate to disturb this, but we need to get out of here.” He said, looking around the hallway. “We need to get her back to the tower.” He added. Your men nodded before Steve lifted you into his arms.
“When we get back to the tower, you’re not leaving our sight.” Steve said as you all ran through the hall. “We’re going to set up in bed and order in whatever you want.” He promised.
“That sounds perfect.” You sighed, leaning into his chest. You fell asleep in his arms and when you woke up next, you were in the boys bed in the tower. The two were protectively curled around you, making you smile. You were safe.
“Doll wake up.” Steve whispered, shaking your shoulder. Smiling sleepily at the two you sat up on the couch. It had been three years since the incident with HYDRA and the three of you had come out stronger as a throuple.
For your safety you’d had to move into the tower, but you didn’t mind. It made you feel safe, and made your boys feel comforted knowing you were safe.
“Hi boys.” You said, stretching out. “How was the mission?” You asked, looking at up at the two.
“Boring.” Thor sighed, sitting on the couch and pulling you into his lap. “There was no action.”
“That’s a good thing.” Steve said, grabbing a plate of cookies off the table. “We’re supposed to want no action.”
“But it was boring. No thrill of crushing our enemies and the like.” Thor said excitedly.
“Have a cookie, honey, and tell me all about your boring mission.” You told the man who grinned largely. Steve sat on your other side and the two of you listened in amusement as Thor recounted the dull mission.
The three of you stayed on that couch, until the baked goods were gone and long after you woke up the next morning.

As we head back towards the beginning, we hit up a few more favorite stores.  Katachi has some funko pops and a few anime figures and blind boxes.  They also have shirts and weapons.  Moritaya is next door and is a bit more on the anime. Keychains and knickknacks but they tend to be a little pricey. If you can’t  find it anywhere else, it‘s worth to get it there.  Also, fun to look through.  One of the Amiko boutiques was closed.  Normally, it has purses, figurines and a few other fun things to look at. Then we have a little game store that I have never been in.  Also, 2 wonderful food vendors.  The Crepes place is delicious and the Coffee Shop has Taiyaki for cheap but only take cash for it. I did find out they serve breakfast but have never been. Also, the other Amiko store is on this side.  It has plushies, blind boxes, purses, TokiDoki and tons of other fun stuff to look at.  One of our favorite spots for sure.  Not shown is a another Beauty store full of face masks and a little water feature that I missed.

Ozaukee County - March 2022
When we initially entered into “adulthood” at the age of 18 we walked 5 minutes across campus to make plans. At the age of 21, we hollered from our bedrooms or walked the 10 steps it took to get to the other's door frame. Now in our late twenties, further into adulthood we plan months in advance to see one another for a visit. Even though scheduling can be challenging, it sure is worth the wait.
Saturday, March 19, 2022
I drove up to Grafton, WI after class on Saturday for a short weekend visit to Tiffany. After getting settled we decided on dinner at the tried and true Stilt House as some of the items are leaving the menu. I ordered a bloody mary to drink and we shared the pull apart bread with truffle butter as an appetizer. I would order both of these again! Each of us ordered the Cuban - el jefe with avocado as it sadly will be leaving the menu after this month. It was well worth the entire meal. On top of that we split the sweet potato fries with maple bacon aioli. Once we filled our bellies we were onto our next adventure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We traveled into Mequon, WI where we attended college with limited exploration, and explored the Ruby Tap Wine Bar. It was a great experience trying different wines. I look forward to going again and trying out some of their charcuterie options as well.

Our final destination for the evening was a Board & Brush event. As two perfectionists it is hard for us to demonstrate our artistic abilities so it was a good challenge to push us both outside of our comfort zones. Tiffany selected a Wisconsin decorative tray to create, while I worked on a coat rack. I had a blast staining the wood, working out the stencil and painting to end up with a forever treasure to hang in our homes. I would be open to doing another one in the future for some holiday decorations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once we finished and left we debated going out or going home. In our late twenties we both agreed that we would prefer to go home and watch some Netflix. On our way we picked up potentially needed snacks at Meijer and ended up stopping at Crumbl in Grafton before heading home. It was a first time experience for me inside Crumbl and I am obsessed!

Sunday, March 20, 2022
We got around to attend Sunday brunch at Foxtown Brewing in Mequon. I ordered the berry Belgian waffle, which was great. I do believe there could be a step up on their maple syrup game but let’s be honest I may be a maple syrup snob. Tiffany had the spicy chorizo hash with a white bronco as the beverage. After spending the morning chatting we decided to head into Cedarburg to run my traditional errands when I am in the area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once parking in Cedarburg we realized it was the perfect day to enjoy being outside for a walk. We headed down to the Oil Sprig where I picked up the traditional balsamic and Tiffany purchased a chipotle olive oil. Next, we traveled into Cedar Creek Settlement checking out the new Apothecary shop. Cream & Crepe Café was still located there which makes me pleased for my future visits as I think it’s truly amazing. We headed down into the winery where I purchased Pearadise and Belle Blue, two wines I have never tried before but sounded perfect for this coming summer weather. After leaving the settlement we headed back down the street discussing the food we would like to try in the future from this area. Our final destination was Amy’s Apple, where I stop each time I am in the area. If you haven’t tried a caramel apple from Amy’s you’re missing out and must make a stop when nearby! I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the caramel apples available here. As we headed home we started making a list of places we would like to go on a future visit. Can’t wait for more adventures to come!

Player: Antoine Roussel
Prompt:
Tumblr media
Thank you so much! Im glad you enjoy my writing! 💕
Mentions: None.
Warnings: Anxiety & Birth Issues
Preview: Antoine chuckled at your statement but you were already overthinking about it. Your usually overactive little French fry was being quite still today. You hoped it was just because you had yet to eat something. Maybe after you ate he would perk up, you thought.
Characters:. 2060 words.
Masterlist is right here.
Tumblr media
You felt as if you were the size of a small whale. You were almost 30 weeks pregnant with your first child. You and Antoine were ecstatic when you found out. The Frenchman couldn’t wait to be a father and he boasted it about it whenever someone was in earshot.
You, on the other hand, were a wreck. You couldn’t be happier but your never-ending worries were at an all-time high. You were currently standing in the mirror trying to pull one of Antoine’s shirt over your bump. You were still struggling when you heard a chuckle behind you.
“Is that my shirt?” he questioned coming up behind you and wrapping his arms as far as he could reach. That didn’t help the situation.
“It’s the only thing that fits.” You snapped with a huff. You sat down on the bed to try and somehow figure out how to put on your shoes. Antoine chuckled once more watching you try to maneuver your legs at such an angle so you could tie your sneakers.
He leaned down and began to tie your shoes as you pouted. “It’s hard to tie your shoes when you can’t really see your feet you know.” You tried to defend.
“You can’t see your feet because our little French fry is growing to be big and strong like his papa.”
You just shook your head at his statement. “Well if he keeps up beating me up in there, he’s going straight into the sin bin when he’s born, just like his papa.”
Antoine chuckled at your statement but you were already overthinking about it. Your usually overactive little French fry was being quite still today. You hoped it was just because you had yet to eat something. Maybe after you ate he would perk up, you thought.
“Breakfast awaits my charite,” Antoine says pulling you up off the bed and out of your thoughts.
Antoine had the day off and you both decided to walk to a small crepe café a few blocks down. Antoine loved to steal away to the café whenever he could. It was a genuine little French bakery and he liked to think of it as a little piece of home here in Dallas.
You both walked down the street hand in hand, Antoine going back and forth between speaking to you and your belly. You reached the café slower than usual due to your waddling. Antoine gave you a look with a smirk. You dared him to make the mistake of quacking at you, he once made with Tyler and Jamie. The couch wasn’t a comfortable place to sleep.
You sat down outside and the waitress didn’t even ask your order before bringing you your normal drinks.
You waited for your food and kept up with Antoine’s small talk. You were still consumed with your thoughts. You were mentally pleading with your unborn child to just give you some type of movement.
Antoine realized you were lost in thought and grabbed your hand. “Y/N, everything okay?”
“Something’s wrong.” You finally blurted out.
“What? Babe, I’m sure it’s all fine.” He responded grabbing your hand tighter.
“I haven’t felt him move since last night.”
“Y/N, the doctor said…”
“I don’t care what the damn doctor said. He’s in my stomach, and I think something is wrong. I want to go to the hospital.” You snap and Antoine is taken aback. He stands slowly and goes to pay.
You wait with your arm crossed, you felt bad for snapping at Antoine. But you were worried and that triumphed your husband at the moment. Antoine called for a cab and you were off to the hospital.
The ride was silent, Antoine rubbing your back to try and reassure you that everything would be fine.
Once you reached the hospital, you were whisked away connected to wires and IVs. Antoine never left your side. He was used to your worries now. It wasn’t that he wasn’t worried himself, he was. He was so frightened to become a father but he wanted to be your rock. He knew you need someone to hold your hand as you go off on tangents about some crazy rare genetic issue or rant about the hard corners of your coffee table.
The doctor came into the room. Antoine looked up from his running mind as you grasped his hand a little tighter.
The doctor offered you a reassuring smile. “Everything is looking good Mrs. Roussel. Baby is doing fine. We are a little concerned about his heart rate, it’s a little low but we aren’t worried just yet.”
“What does that mean?” you questioned.
“It means that I am having you be put on bedrest. No more working, No more traveling, and trying to stay calm during your husband’s hockey games.” He chuckled gesturing towards Antoine.
He smiles as he finishes the paperwork and discharges you.
You steal a quick smile to your husband as he helps you up from the bed.
“I’m sorry I snapped at you earlier.” You look at him guiltily
“There is no worries love, I find your protective mama bear side quite sexy.” He wiggles his eyebrows at you.
“Bedrest Roussel” you remind him
“My thoughts involve bed but not rest” he chuckles as you take a cab home.
A few days later you sigh as you watch Antoine packing his bags for another Dallas road trip.
“You sure you’re okay? I could call Coach and tell him I can’t come.” He asks worriedly.
“And keep you here to annoy me? I’m supposed to be relaxing babe.” You laugh as he throws a pillow at you gently.
“I will keep the little French fry in here cooking, I promise.” You smile resting your hands on your large belly.
“You better!” he quips putting the last of his things in his duffle.
“Don’t you trust me?”
He placed a kiss to your temple as he hoisted the bag on his shoulder.
“Je t'aime”
“Je t'aime aussi
“I’ll call you when we land, call me after your doctor’s appointment.” He quips, waving as he walks out the bedroom door.
Katie swung by your house to pick you up for your doctor’s appointment. She promised Antoine that she would keep an eye on you.
You smiled as you got into the car.
“How’s my favorite baby mama?” she asked pulling out of your driveway.
“I’m feeling good” you smile nodding.
You reach the doctor’s appointment and are called in quickly. For once you are sitting on the familiar examine table without a worry. The last few days have felt good. That feeling was short-lived. The nurse taking you and the babies vitals turned white, ignoring your questions as she set off to find the doctor.
Katie could see your frown growing and quickly grabs your hand rubbing your arm.
The doctor filed in quickly looking over your charts. “Mrs. Roussel, I want to admit you into the hospital.”
“What” you choke out your world suddenly crashing.
“The baby’s heart rate is rather low and so is your blood pressure. I’m not saying you are going into labor but I want to monitor you and the baby’s levels.”
“Oh…okay.” You nod trying to process what has been said to you.
Soon you are being led upstairs, Katie following close behind. Everything is a blur, your worries consuming you.
You are laying in the hospital bed watching as a nurse places an IV in when you hear Katie groan.
“What’s wrong?” you ask quietly.
She looks at you apologetically. “It’s just… that I can’t get a hold of anyone.”
“You what?” you ask, the tears already forming in your eyes.
Katie rushes to your side. “Hey, Hey. Remember what the doctor said, this doesn’t mean you’re going into labor. It is just a precaution”
You just nod as she plays with your hair to relax you.
“Now I am going to run to your house quickly and get you some comfy clothes because as much as I love you, this hospital gown is not cute.”
You chuckle wiping away the stray tears.
“And while I am doing that, I am going to track down the entire Dallas Stars Association and figure out who I have to murder.” She rubs your hair one last time and then turns to leave.
You sigh and hope to just get some rest, closing your eyes for a moment. You don’t know how long you sat there until you hear a loud screech of beeping. You open your eyes to see your room filling with doctors and nurses. You keep asking what’s going and it’s like they can’t hear you, causing your fear to grow.
Finally, the doctor turns to you. “Y/N, the baby’s heart rate has fallen to low, we need to go in and do an emergency C-section.”
“But it’s too early, I haven’t come to term. I thought this was just a precaution.” You plead.
“It started off that way but looking at your levels, this is you and your child’s best chance. Not only is the baby in distress but so is your blood pressure. It is important…”
You knew you should be listening but you were being suffocated by thoughts of your own. What were you going you do? Had Katie gotten in contact with Antoine? All you wanted in this moment was Antoine telling you it was somehow going to be okay. You hadn’t even picked out a name. The nursery wasn’t ready...
“Y/N? Mrs. Roussel?” The doctor pulled you from your thoughts
“We need your consent, Mrs. Roussel.”
“Fine. Yes. Okay.”
You were suddenly being frantically prepped and pushed towards another room. All you could do was the stare at the bright light shining down on you. You focused on the light until suddenly your world went black.
You were still staring into the darkness when your hearing returned. You were unsure and disoriented. You heard an uneven breathing and then a steady beeping. You opened your eyes to see Antoine sitting in a chair next to your bed his head in his hands. You could hear him talking to himself in French
“Antoine?” you try, your mouth dry and your voice coming out raspy.
Antoine’s head jerks up and he rushes to your side.
“Y/N. Oh, thank goodness. I was so worried. The plane ride here was torture.” He states peppering kisses to your face.
“Where is he?”
“He’s in the NICU, he’s so beautiful my love. He is so little, but he’s doing good. We can go see him if you feel up to it.”
You simply nod and Antoine goes to get a nurse. They both help you into a wheelchair. The pain is strong but not seeing your son for a moment longer is unbearable.
The silence radiates as Antoine pushes you through the sterile hallways.
“I’m sorry I didn’t keep my promise.” You say softly.
“Promise?”
“I promised that I would keep the little French fry cooking and I didn’t.”
“Love, you are excused from promises you are unable to keep.” He places a kiss to your temple and turns a corner.
No one has to tell you which baby is yours, you know the moment you enter the room. The small baby in the incubator takes your breath away. Antoine helps you stand. You stagger a bit from the pain but he steadies you.
“We make handsome babies Roussel.”
“We make strong babies Roussel.” He answers.
You nod leaning into the crook of his neck.
“He needs a name.”
“I like Olivier” Antoine pipes in quickly.
“I like the ring of that, Olivier Roussel.”
Antoine smiles down and you both just take in the marvel that is your newborn. You knew you had a long road ahead of you and many more years of worries but one look at Olivier and it was all worth it. How did Antoine choose you? How did you wind up so lucky?

Velo’s coffee game is strong (they even serve it up in bowls!), but for an alternate pick-me-up, try their healing organic teas. You’ll find a shaded kids’ area out the back with enough toys and cubbies to keep them busy while you sip.
Where: 19 Careela St, Mooloolaba. Open: Breakfast and lunch daily 7am-3pm. Hot tip: Add the Fraser Island spanner crab side for a next-level breakfast.
Guru Life, Rosemount
Head west from Maroochydore and swap the beach for lush gardens, a pond and ducks at Guru Life. The setting is perfect for little explorers and the menu is full of colourful, healthy options.
Start your day under the umbrellas with a wet coconut brekkie bowl (fruit salad with coconut yoghurt for kiddies) or if you’re visiting for lunch, follow the hypnotic smell of their vegan burger with eggplant parmi, cashew cheese, pickled veggies and relish; while the kids can make tracks for crispy calamari or battered fish with chips.
Where: 522 Petrie Creek Road, Rosemount. Open: Breakfast and lunch daily 6am-3pm. Hot tip: This is a good spot for bird-chasing kids to play a feathery version of Where’s Wally so you can finish your coffee while it’s still hot.
CK Coffee Bar, Mooloolaba
It’ll be hard to get your kids to leave the cute indoor play area with books, toys and a play kitchen that entertains while the food and drinks are prepared.
The CK Coffee Bar team have also crafted a kid-friendly menu (based on learnings from their own fussy eaters) with short stack banana pancakes with coconut ice-cream for breakfast or mini Angus beef burger with sweet potato fries for lunch.
Parents, get ready to make the tough choice between a sweet or savoury breakfast with banana and cinnamon waffles with coconut yoghurt or truffle scrambled eggs with herb roasted mushrooms and marinated feta.
Where: 17 Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba. Open: Breakfast and lunch daily 7am-2pm. Hot tip: Lactose-free milk is up for grabs for those with sensitive tums.
Cafe Doonan, Doonan
An adorable rustic café set amongst the trees on a country road outside of Noosa, you’ll spot toys and books indoors or you can head down to the big garden area complete with sandpit and toy boxes.
Breakfast options start with the classics: muesli and zesty smashed avocado. But you can also get adventurous with Café Doonan’s quinoa apple waffles, or halloumi stack loaded with grilled vegetables and topped with a poached free-range egg and housemade pesto.
From the drinks menu, kids can choose from the milkshake range or stick with a babyccino to go with their beans on toast or toasted wraps.
Where: 777 Eumundi-Noosa Road, Doonan. Open: Breakfast and lunch Monday to Thursday 6:30am-4pm; breakfast, lunch and dinner Friday and Saturday 6:30am-8:30pm; and breakfast Sunday 6:30am-12pm. Hot tip: Friday and Saturday dinners have an ever-changing blackboard menu. Go à la carte or put your trust in the chef’s three-course set menu, which is usually themed (and always delish).
Izba Espresso, Birtinya
Breakfast doesn’t come handier than a brekky wrap – and the Izba interpretation is top notch (bacon, egg, cheese and Spanish onion drizzled with homemade tomato relish on a wholemeal wrap). Go for the fig and walnut loaf if you’re looking for something lighter or, if you’re up for a serious challenge, take the triple stack pancakes for a run.
Kids can also pick pancakes (just two, though), Humpty Dumpty eggs or the kids’ mini breakfast (two free-range boiled eggs with thick buttery toast) from the all-day brekky menu.
The lunch menu is crammed with burgers and wraps for adults and cheeseburgers and toasties for the little ones. Whatever meal you choose, enjoy some ‘me’ time while they make good use of the playground area suitable for kids aged four and up.
Where: Corner of Lake Kawana Blvd and Birtinya Blvd, Birtinya. Open: Breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday 6:30am-5pm, Saturday and Sunday 7am-5pm. Hot tip: Check out the jaffle bar at one of Izba Espresso’s other Sunshine Coast branches at Bells Reach.
Boathouse at Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club, Mooloolaba
Surf Clubs are the go-to venue for many a family get-together and this one is no exception. Located in the hub of Mooloolaba, it’s the spot to refuel after a morning at the beach.
Boathouse’s all-day dining menu begins with breakfast staples like bacon and eggs and toasted muesli; while seafood a-plenty and a roast station is sure to fill bellies later on.
On the ‘Nippers Only’ menu you’ll find old faithfuls like fish and chips, penne Napoli, cheeseburger and chips or chicken schnitzel. The best part (for them) is the free ice-cream cone included. Once it’s demolished, they can escape to the kids corner for arcade games.
Where: The Esplanade, Mooloolaba. Open: Breakfast daily 8am-10am, lunch and dinner daily from 11:30am-late. Hot tip: On the first Sunday of each month, your kids can meet and pat pooches as part of the Surf Club’s support of Smart Pups, a local charity that provides Assistance Dogs for children with special needs.
Kelly’s of Peregian, Peregian
Just across the road from one of the locals’ fave beaches you’ll find Kelly’s of Peregian, where you can grab a bite to eat after a morning of sandcastle constructing or an afternoon of salty splashing.
The Kelly’s chefs often get high fives for their halloumi and zucchini fritters, which make an appearance on both the breakfast and lunch menus. They do a baby benedict for your little ones, or they can satisfy their hunger pains by chowing down on a kid-friendly portion of steak and chips.
They can then run amok outside on the village green, perfect their sand-building skills in the sandpit or make the most of the fully enclosed indoor play area with toys and cubby.
Where: 2/6 Kingfisher Drive, Peregian Beach. Open: Breakfast daily 7am-12pm, lunch Monday to Thursday 12pm-3pm, lunch Friday and Saturday 12pm-5pm. Hot tip: If you’re looking for a hearty iron injection to round out the week, head to Kelly’s on Friday or Saturday for their $20 steak night special.
Nouveau Restaurant, Novotel Twin Waters, Twin Waters
If your crew likes to feast on an array of food, try the family-friendly themed dinner buffet at  Nouveau Restaurant.
Sit outside and watch Marco Polo action unfold in the hotel pool or stay close to the foodie action inside where the whole fam will be going back for seconds of tasty Mexican, Asian delights, roast goodness or seafood delicacies depending on what day of the week you drop by.
Where: 270 Ocean Drive, Twin Waters. Open: Dinner daily 6pm-9pm. Hot tip: They also put on a delicious daily breakfast buffet with hot and cold options.
View Restaurant, Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas, Noosa
View Restaurant is the foodie heart of Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas but is open to anyone (not just the lucky resort guests).
Their lunch menu will get your mouth watering with dishes like slow-roasted lamb shoulder with grilled Mediterranean veggies, smoked olives and pesto or spaghettini with barramundi, tomato, capers, garlic and parsley. And you won’t need to bribe the kids to get through their dinner as they’ve got seven meal options that all come with a drink, dessert and Peppers kids pack.
Where: Little Hastings Street, Noosa Heads. Open: Breakfast daily 7am-11am, lunch daily 12pm-2:30pm, dinner daily 5:30pm-late. Hot tip: Kids eat dinner for free if you’re a Mantra+ member, which you can sign up for while dining.
Noosa Boathouse, Noosaville
Wander along the jetty from Noosaville’s main drag where sitting pretty on the Noosa River is Noosa Boathouse with three-levels of foodie fun.
Boathouse’s seafood is pretty special. Parents can share baked scallops, freshly shucked oysters and chilled Mooloolaba king prawns, or go all in with the seafood experience for two which has everything a seafood lover needs from calamari and bugs to crab and fish.
Little foodies can pick battered dory and chips, bangers and mash, or pasta from their own menu.
Where: 194 Gympie Terrace, Noosaville. Open: Lunch daily from 11:30am, dinner daily from 5pm. Hot tip: For the ultimate picnic, grab a family pack from the fish and chips takeaway window and find a spot on the sandy bank of the river.
Coffee Cat on Kings, Caloundra
Place your order inside and snag a table outside with views of Kings Beach at Caloundra.
Go for healthy AM options like the Cocowhip breakfast bowl and quinoa Nasi Goreng, or dial up the heftiness with the Beach Jaffle filled with savoury mince and cheese. Juniors can choose between a bunch of toast-related options with hash brown, salmon or halloumi extras.
Lunches are all about burgers, wraps and salads, with the usual suspects like mini grilled chicken burger and Hawaiian pizza for kids combo options.
Where: Shop 4, 8 Levuka Avenue, Kings Beach, Caloundra. Open: Breakfast daily 6am-11:15am, lunch daily 11:30am-2:30pm. Hot tip: Stick around for the live music and fun vibes on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
The Ginger Cafe, Ginger Factory, Yandina
Your taste buds can celebrate all things ginger at this café inside at thee Ginger Factory.
Sweet treats like ginger scones and ginger ice-cream are served up, while the savoury dishes are just as unique – think beef burger with ginger onion jam or Vietnamese ginger chicken salad.
When you’ve had your fill of gingery goodness, let the kids loose in the fenced playground.
Where: 50 Pioneer Road, Yandina. Open: Breakfast and lunch daily 9am-2:30pm. Hot tip: Make a day of it and check out the tours and fun at the rest of the Ginger Factory.
The Pub at Aussie World, Palmview

The Pub dishes up classic grub like chicken schnitzel, steak sandwich and pizza through to crispy skinned barramundi and lemon myrtle calamari. Kids under 12 can take their pick of the battered fish, cheeseburger or crumbed chicken tenderloins – all served with chips or vegetables plus ice-cream.
While you’re in the area, work off the food with a few rides and slides next door.
Where: 73 Frizzo Road, Palmview. Open: Lunch and dinner Sunday to Thursday 11:30am-7:30pm, Friday and Saturday 11:30am-8pm. Hot tip: Adults score entry into Aussie World at kids prices.

Best Restaurants in Chennai: Top 5 You Must Visit
If you think there's not much more than dosa and filter coffee to the dining scene in Chennai, you, my friend, are wrong. While idli-dosa can never go out of style in the capital of the southern-most state of India, Chennai has a multi-cultural food palette that has something to offer to everyone. Are you a glutton and love to gorge on different cuisines? Then, go ahead and read about the top 5 best restaurants in Chennai that you must visit during your next outing.
GoGo Ramen
Fitness has almost become a lifestyle trend and the healthy yet tasty Japanese cuisine has become its biggest supplement. So, all fitness freaks in Chennai must visit GoGo Ramen, the only Ramen bar in India. If you visit this authentic Japanese restaurant, do order their signature pork ramen (grilled chicken and vegetarian versions of the same are also available), the Gua Bao (Taiwanese braised pork belly buns), the Gyoza (pot sticker) wrappers, and then have their cold barley tea to wash it all down.
Ciclo Café
There are certain restaurants that will win your heart with the stunning interiors and cool ambience the moment you step foot. Ciclo Café, with its offbeat cycling theme, is certainly one of them. The two-storey café has a cycle spa and a retail zone for high-end cycle brands. There are chandeliers made from cycle chains, table legs made of cycle parts and various other décor items, all made from some part or the other of a cycle. Sip on the excellent coffee and gorge on the delicious quiches at this uniquely designed café.
Winter Palace
This fine-dining Russian Restaurant, with its Italian baroque architecture in soothing whites and blues, looks straight out of a postcard. This restaurant is versatile enough for enjoying both working lunches and family luncheons. When here, make sure you devour the delicious Piroshki (little meat pies), the trademark Russian Blinis (crepe-like pockets oozing with honey, sour cream or ice-cream), various Russian dumplings and some of the best salted fish.
Shiraz Art Café
The Shiraz Art Café, at Neelankarai beach, offers some of the best Irani fare ever. The Ghalieeh Mahi Fish and the Bademjan, two of the most popular dishes here, are simply lip-smacking. And if you are one who's never satisfied with having a little bit of good food, then there is Shiraz's Sunday brunch, a massive buffet of home-style Irani cooking.
Annalakshmi
This is one of the best restaurants in Chennai to satisfy your urge for the traditional vegetarian fare of Tamil Nadu. The vegetarian thali is one of the most frequently ordered item here. Annalakshmi also offers a diverse a la carte menu.

Chef Den Lim Takes Over Flavors Restaurant at Holiday Inn Makati
One of Pampanga’s most popular and in-demand chefs is bringing his sumptuous repertoire to Manila. Chef Dennis Lim of Den Lim’s Kitchen is taking over Flavors Restaurant at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati from October 10-19, 2017. Diners will find his signature specialties all over the buffet spread for lunch and dinner, including this Pugon-roasted liempo that is now the talk of the town.
Born and raised in San Fernando, Pampanga to the family that runs the famous LA Bakery, Chef Dennis Lim has carved out his own name in local gastronomy with his rustic, reservation-only private dining restaurant. Did you know that Den Lim’s Kitchen is already fully booked until March 2018? That is for weekdays, because if you want a weekend reservation, then you will have to wait over a year until October 2018! Thankfully, Holiday Inn Makati is doing us all a big favor and bringing the magic of Den Lim’s Kitchen to the city. This is the first time that Chef Den Lim will be cooking publicly outside Pampanga and doing this type of collaboration, so this is definitely an opportunity that diners should not miss.
Flavors Restaurant is the all-day dining cafe of Holiday Inn & Suites Makati, the first purpose-built Holiday Inn property in the Philippines which opened in 2013. The vibrant, all-day dining restaurant is run by all-Filipino talent, the only international chain with a Filipino executive chef, and Chef Den Lim truly fits the cafe’s casual and friendly personality.
Flavors is located on the hotel’s Lobby floor and it is a bright and spacious gallery with elegant but casual interiors that are suited for quick business lunches or cozy family dinners. The restaurant takes pride in having one of the best buffet selections in Makati City, bringing the best of Filipino, South East Asian, and Western dishes to the table.
The Hungry Kat was invited to be one of the first to enjoy this foodie partnership during its opening day last October 10 and this is definitely better than waiting for over a year and going all the way to Pampanga. Chef Dennis Lim, who did not get formal training and learned everything on his own, was all smiles as he also enjoyed working with the other chefs of Holiday Inn Makati.
It’s time to attack the buffet tables so let’s start with some of Chef Den Lim’s special dishes.
The Kilayin Capampangan is Pampanga’s meaty version of the kilawin with diced pork, liver and heart marinated and cooked in vinegar and spices. It is quite different from the usual kilawin and is more similar to the bopis, but with more flavors and spices. This is usually sold on the streets of Pampanga, but you can find it just here in Makati at Flavors Restaurant.
One looks at the Caveman Beef Shank and you know you are in for a carnivorous affair. This tender, smoked beef shank is braised for 5-6 hours and smothered with mushroom gravy plus some corn on the cob on the side.
The Roasted Chicken is a more familiar and simple dish, but it also packs a lot of flavors especially with its golden brown skin glazed with a soya-based marinade.
My eyes were on the the luxuriously creamy and savory Crab Marlen, a crab dish sautéed with basil and 30 salted egg yolks! If the crab roe wasn’t indulgent enough, then I’m sure the salted egg yolk will be. Chef Den Lim names some of his dishes using relatives and loved ones, and he said that Marlen is a favorite ninang who believes in his cooking. She is obviously correct.
These cute crab crackers were also present on the buffet table to make it easier for the guests. Those crabs are huge and they really put up a good and delicious fight.
Chef Den Lim also brought out his Old Fashioned Beef Mechado with its very tender cuts of beef simmered in a lovely tomato-based stew. This classic dish simply reminds me of home and that is also what Holiday Inn wants their guests to feel.
The pasta station also included one of Den Lim’s specialties, the Pasta Corrito which was named after his wife. This is a rich seafood pasta with shrimp, mussels and squid cooked with seafood brine, lemon, capers, and extra virgin olive oil.
But of course, the star of the show is none other than the Pugon Liempo Wrap which you can find on the carving station. This is Chef Den Lim’s signature dish that has his Pampanga kitchen booked solid for months, and we were so lucky to have it all for ourselves.
The succulent roasted pork belly is cooked inside a pugon, or wood-fire brick oven which gives its skin such crispiness. I was so amazed with how juicy the meat was and how the skin simply cracks with every yummy bite. It’s like having the best parts of a lechon without having to bother with the bones.
The liempo is really good enough to eat on its own, but Chef Den Lim gives it a special touch with his housemade pork Buro. This is a popular dipping sauce of locals from Pampanga made from fermented pork and seafood. It balances the indulgent flavors from the liempo and give a different taste combination.
To complete this unique dining experience, wrap the pugon liempo inside some lettuce with buro, tomatoes and arugula. Since I’m eating the lechon with vegetables, it makes this a “healthy” dish, right? That means I can go back for more!
Chef Den Lim also introduced to us his Tamarind mocktail beverage which was a refreshing local drink. Holiday Inn Makati will soon be including this as a cocktail on their bar menu, so I will surely watch out for that.
While Chef Den Lim takes over Flavors Restaurant this week, the other international buffet station will still continue to offer their specialties as well. Diners can get sushi at the Japanese Station or the Spicy Chcken Curry Massala at the Indian station. Noodles and grilled barbecues are also available. Kids don’t have to worry because their favorites will still be there at the Kids Station.
The desserts at Flavors Restaurant are one of my favorites in the city, with its colorful cakes, pastries, and halo halo station.
The heavenly Ube Cheesecake is always a popular item, as well as the Classic  Crepe Samurai from the former Café Jeepney of InterContinental Hotel Manila.
Congratulations to Chef Dennis Lim and Holiday Inn Makati for such a wonderful collaboration that proudly introduces the bold and rich flavors of Den Lim’s Kitchen to a new audience in Manila. I’m so happy to have discovered these delicacies and I now count myself as one of his new fans. Lunch and dinner buffet at Flavors Restaurant are priced at P1,818 nett per person and that is a great deal for this fantastic and elusive dining experience.

A First-Class Weekend on the Lake
Saturday 2 July 2016
Today, Barbara, Zoe and I decided to have a productive morning at a coffee shop just around the corner from our apartment called Coffee Lab. We all had assignments due on the last day of the course, and we wanted to knock out as much of the work this morning as we could. We were perfectly positioned in the corner of the shop. I really liked this shop because 1) the coffee was affordable and 2) they spoke English very well and took pity on my French. 3) Not only did we have the best seat in the room, but there was a band of three people set up in the shop playing songs in English and Portuguese and even played Wagon Wheel of all songs to make me feel right back at home. It was such a pleasant surprise! What better work-day music than a live band?! As we listed to them, and heard them talking to one another in between songs, we realized that one guy was from the US, the other guy from Ireland, and the girl singing was from Brazil – and here we all are, the American, the Brazilian, and the Scotsman sitting with disbelief that our musical matches were in the same shop as us. As lunched rolled around, we went back to our apartment to grab a bite. It wasn’t cold by any means, but it was one of the cooler days with overcast, so we figured it was the perfect day to be Genevan tourist and find world class hot chocolate in the Old City. After a small hiccup trying to search an ancient city for a public printing service, we finally made it to the Old City. The wall of the city has a tribute to Calvin that we stopped to look at, then we marched up the hill to enter the Old City and explore. When you come up the hill, there’s a beautiful view of Mont Saleve. We walked the cobblestone streets just taking in the scene. We eventually settled ourselves at an outdoor café to indulge in the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. As we sat among a diversity of people, at our own table we had a conversation going in English and another in Portuguese between Barbara and Paloma, but all around us the air was filled with French, Italian, and German conversations, not to mention the other languages I couldn’t name. What I love the most about Geneva is how normal this is for everyone here to be completely immersed in cultural diversity. I wanted to embrace every second of it. That’s not the atmosphere you find here in Mississippi that’s for sure. After we had our fix of divine hot chocolate we walked around a bit longer then finally decided that while it was out of season, we had to have a bite of fondue since we were in Switzerland. So we did what every good tourist does in Geneva… We ordered an afternoon snack of fondue. And I don’t care what season it was, it still tasted incredible.
Sunday 3 July 2016
Ah the day we’d all been waiting or arrived – our trip to Lausanne and our boat tour to Montroux!! We made the morning train to Lausanne so we could catch our 9am boat that circled the north of the lake from Lausanne to Montroux and back again. The roundtrip lasted 3 hours. As we eagerly boarded the boat we immediately rushed to the best seats on the ship only to find out 20 minutes later that they were the best seats because we were sitting in first class. Hehehe. So once relocating downstairs to our proper place, we sat inside and ordered some coffee to warm us up. The view of the rest of the trip speaks for itself.
Once we were back on shore in Lausanne, we spent lunch at a little pizza shop next to the lake where we learned the incorrect way to order tap water in French, but the food was just what we needed to calm our very hungry bellies. After we finished eating we spent the rest of the afternoon causally near the lakes edge to soak up the sun and take in the view around us. We treated ourselves to some delicious ice cream as the day heated up. Lausanne is quite a busy place on Sunday afternoons. Many locals and travelers from abroad come to see the city and walk the paths by the lake. The Olympic Museum is also a very popular attraction. The weather was too beautiful to spend inside a museum but we passed by it as we walked around. Slowly, the day ended and we made our way back to the train station. On our walk back home, we stopped by the jazz festival just around the corner from our apartment. It was a very family friendly environment with everyone sitting on blankets enjoying a variety of foods. Zoe went for the Somalian meal while Barbara joined me in fulfilling my 3-year long quest for a Nutella Crepe that began in Paris, France in 2013. It was one of those stories where you really “had to be there” to understand, but in short, I spend the last 5 hours of a 3-day weekender to Paris searching for just one more Nutella crepe. I had the best one of my life the first night we spend in Paris from a small street-side vendor around midnight as we walked back to our apartment from the Eiffel Tower. I knew I couldn’t top that one but my craving was too strong not to try just one more crepe before we went back to England. Well, after some time constraints and a serious language barrier, I ended up with some ham and vegetable crepe that my friend Jenni had to eat for me because I was so mad it wasn’t Nutella that I thought I was going to cry. Ever since then, my longing for a Nutella crepe has not waivered and was finally fulfilled in a park, three years later, with soft jazz playing in the background. I was one happy girl with one very yummy crepe. This brought our day to a close, and we went back to our apartment to unwind before the start of our last week.

My Second Date
For once I was actually on time for something. Well, as much as I try to be, its not always intentional to be late. I swear I try.
"I'm in the Grand Hall at Union" He texted.
"I'm on the TTC side, I'll walk to ward you" I replied.
As I walked up the stairs to his direction, I can feel my heart flutter with every step. But with every step also came some anxiety. I was nervous. Do I hug? do I kiss his cheek or on the lips?
As I walked toward him I smiled and was still even deciding what to do. But before I knew it, he was right in front of me and greeted each other with a peck by lips.
I thought to myself... "Ok, that's a good sign I hope. I'm not terribly ugly looking today, so that's a start" lol
We started walking to the Sushi place Miku by harbourfront and I've never been there before. But when we arrived, I thought, "shieeeeet, this is gonna be expensive!" *clenches wallet* NUTS! I say.
We ordered some brussel sprouts with pork belly bacon, spicy edamame, sushi rolls, and what not. IT was all good, surprisingly, especially the brussel sprouts.
Each taste and flavour was so satisfying, even the torched sushi melted in my mouth. It was worth the price I suppose. But in the end, let's face it, she was still hungry. I happily agreed with him, "Oh I'm open to ordering more if you want to. otherwise, I'm fine!" GASP! my first lie, well kinda. I could still have eaten more but I figure, drink more water! don't be bloated! Don't look like a fatass!
Alas, dinner was a success and I was so worried that I had food stuck in my teeth like I always do. Thankfully there was none. It wasn't until we got up from our table after paying did he point out "Oh your foot is dragging the table napkin with you". and I laughed embarrassingly OMG.
*stomps* DAMMIT! I thought I had it going for me. Embarrassment #1 of the night. There may be a few more as the night goes on. But man that was the first, I could not believe I did that. Better the table napkin than toilet paper I suppose!
We walked from the Harbourfront going north through the insides of office buildings towards union station and beyond. Little did I realize how quiet it was through these areas, like people deserted it and just left these unchartered roads for us. There was even a cute view when he showed his office building and the CN tower. I kinda wondered if this was a romantic moment or should I just ruin it and pull a joke of sorts.... I chose the latter lol. I can't remember what I said exactly, was it a pun? was it innuendo? was it reference of sorts to something earlier? Dammit I wish I knew, if he sticks around I'll ask him again and see. Perhaps his memory is better than mine.
Anywho, we kept walking and we ended up at MArche for dessert. He got his Apple strudel with chocolate sauce on it, where I had a crème brule. It was quite the tough choice between a crepe and waffle, but I saw the price of them both and I thought, HEYYYYYYLLL no. lol. HARD PASS.
We sat in the back of Marche which was coincidentally where he wanted to take me to but on the café side, which was closed. Either way, we sat in front of two of these cute photos of L'Arc de Triumph and La Basilique du Sacre Coeur in Mont Martre in Paris, literally one of my favourite spots in that city. How fitting to have a crème brule, I thought.
We talked, ate, talked and just got to know each other more. Though my contacts were drying out and I literally had a hard time trying to keep them moist. On top of that, my allergies were not that cute but I mean it could've been worse.
once we left marche I said I could walk him towards Queen at least so we can hang out somemore and we can catch our streetcars/subways from there to go home. but suddenly, one would think of it as a curse than a blessing, but for some reason I couldn't help but be happy that it started raining.
Rain is obviously not cute, but my attitude towards the rain has changed, mostly in part due to my new bright yellow umbrella. This umbrella signifies more than just the HIMYM reference, but that my personality and uniqueness and attitude should shine and be as bright even in stormy /rainy weather. That, and so many romantic associations can be made with an umbrella in the rain.
I suggested we just share the umbrella even thought he hated the rain. I sacrificed myside more just because of that but I didn't mind, I do honestly take up a lot more fat space. lol.
Instead of walking towards queen we decided King would be best to end our night. Though as romantic as I would've preferred, the homeless lady didn't help and kinda scared us a bit if she was to get hit by a car. But we went back to our romantic mood eventually and said our good byes.
Just when we were leaving we drew closer into each other's eyes and kissed under the umbrella as the rain poured down. Though I didn't feel the rain as much, its almost like the rain stopped for that brief moment as our lips softly met. Each kiss was sweet and sincere, I didn't want that to end.
I walked him down the stairs into the subway so he wouldn't get wet, kissed each other good night. and that's when my streetcar conveniently arrived.
I got home, only to receive a message from him saying he got home too. For once, I didn't have to send the first text back! YAY!
I'm honestly a bit smitten but I cant help it. I love and loathe this feeling. I don't wanna get my hopes up but should I just enjoy this moment while it lasts?
I want to say hi and text and talk every day, but what's the procedures like now? Wouldn't he be the one who wants to text too? I want to take this as slow and steady as possible. I think it could be something great. How do I not jump the gun on this one?
Either way, I haven't had a feeling like this in a while, and I like it. I miss it.
