Io seppellisco i miei ricordi con gli mezzo necessario che ho per impedire che essi seppelliscano me; ma così sto perdendo anche se pur pochi i bei ricordi però bisogna scegliere il male minore.

I have this paranoia or anxiety over whether or not I've lied to someone and it becomes so intense that I try to recount every conversation we've ever had, or I feel the need to apologize often or completely cut them off.

I have trauma related to lying and I assume that's where it stems from, but it makes me feel like utter shit knowing I may have lied to someone in the past and I cant even remember it.

I only experience this self loathing when i am the one who lies or i suspect I'm the one who has lied. If someone comes forward and says they lied to me, depending on what it is, I honestly wouldn't care. I genuinely just don't even consider it an offense.

I notice I have that a lot though, gaps in my memory in relation to experiences I've had or connections. Is that normal or? My memory works fine when it comes to school and books but when it's with people I can never recall. My therapist and I agreed CPTSD is highly likely but i always just kind of disregarded memory loss as a symptom and now I'm not so sure:/

I'm sorry about what you've been through.

Gaps in memory can be normal, and they can be a sign of a problem. It can be normal to not remember everything, especially the farther back your memory goes, but the size of those gaps are important too. It's not necessarily normal to have gaps in your memory that span the course of years. It's common for people with trauma and CPTSD to experience amnesia wherein they have those large memory gaps or are repressing memories, including the before and after of traumatic events.

I know it's not that important to clarify, but I just want to say that people with CPTSD for example who experience gaps in their memory, it's normal to them. So when we say something is or isn't normal, it's important to ask ourselves who is really dictating that normalcy. I sometimes see people asking "am I mentally ill or am I normal?" when it's possible to be mentally ill and normal, you know?

Ultimately, I would recommend to keep working with your therapist on determining the extent of your memory gaps and whether or not they're indicative of a disorder such as CPTSD.
