“You ready to find our family?”

The question lights her nerves on fire, adrenaline and dread and hope and fear all making a home in her chest. And here, on the edge of a cliff where they’ve almost died, here, where she’s spent all of her lost hours with the man who has refused to give up on her, and here, on a planet she can’t leave without telling him.

“Bellamy, wait—” She catches his arm, and when he turns to her, all scruff and dirt and snow and heavy furs, it consumes her, what he means to her, what she feels for him. This is the kind of emotion that brings her to her knees. She can lead a battle and she can survive a death wave, but looking at him, admitting it out loud terrifies her more than any of those things. But she can’t leave this cold, treacherous, miserable planet without saying it. “No, Bellamy, if something happens, if we don’t make it, and I… Please, you have to know—”

There’s a flash of something heated in his dark eyes, and then a too soft smile crosses his lips, and it gets caught, the words he needs to hear, the words she has to say. She’s fighting every painful instinct she has to run from this, and he watches her like she’s something gentle, takes her hands in his like they’re not shaking in fear.

“Hey,” he starts, somehow serious and amused all at once. “We have fought wars, we have had our homes stolen from us, we have taken on AI and crazy primes and too many apocalypse to count, but if you think I’m going to let this universe take you away from me, then you’re out of your damn mind.” As his words grow, so does the emotion welling in her chest, her body shaking with it, her eyes glassy even as he pulls one clothed hand up to brush the hair at her temple, just like in that cave with Roan, just like Becca’s lab, just like he does whenever she’s faced with their impossible decisions, telling her she’s not alone. “Now, we are going to jump off this damn mountain, we are going to find and save our family, and then after that, I am going to spend eons with you, Clarke Griffin.”

CANON DIVERGENCE: The anomaly sends both Clarke and Bellamy to Etherea, and the universe waits with baited breath as they scale an unknown planet to find each other. And when they do, they vow to never leave each other’s side again. But as days turn into weeks as they fight to make their way back to their family, they must face another terrifying hurdle — All the things unsaid between them.

Summary:

Bellamy Blake just wants to be a part of history. So he spends his life authenticating artifacts while searching for lost treasure and hidden pieces of history around the world.
