Amber Turd’s lawyers are a dumpster fire. Specifically, her female lawyer.
I know it has to be hard to come up with a defense for someone who is in my opinion so obviously guilty, but dang this is hard to watch.
I feel like her lawyers are actually helping Johnny’s case. Everything they brought up has been more harmful to her than him.

Another Sexual-Assault Acquittal Reaffirms the Need to #BelieveEvidence
Article here. Excerpt:
'Yesterday a Texas jury found former Baylor football player Shawn Oakman not guilty of sexual assault. As my Tennessee neighbor Clay Travis notes, the charges against Oakman were heavily publicized, and carried serious repercussions for the Baylor football program: ... At this point, how many more court cases do we need before we return to sanity and reason in the battle over campus sexual assault? As I wrote last month, judges across the country (including, most notably, California judges) are rebuking colleges and universities for establishing campus kangaroo courts designed to secure more punishments for young men. And now we’re seeing real courts demonstrate once again the power of due process. ... For example, in one of the key studies used to proclaim that women rarely lie about rape, the researchers found that 5.9 percent of claims were false and that a whopping 44.9 percent were classified as “case did not proceed.” And what was a prime reason why those cases did not proceed? Lack of evidence.'

Concerning #believevictims
Recently something has caught my attention and got me thinking. That thing is #believevictims, a hashtag used to show solidarity with alleged rape victims, whose alleged rapist was not convicted. Although I understand why someone would feel inclined to promote this idea, especially if someone they knew was raped and the rapist has gone free, I think it is a dangerous and flawed precedent. You may have noticed that earlier I added the word ‘alleged’ in front of rape victim and rapist. The reason I did so was for the simple concept of innocent until proven guilty. This is the cornerstone of our justice system, and an important part of western liberal ideology, and is direct opposition to #believevictims.
An quote I heard somewhere (somewhere being a place I can’t remember) is ‘It is better that ten guilty men should go free than a single innocent man be condemned’. This quote encapsulates the belief of innocent until proven guilty, and in areas concerning justice, must be upheld. To be believe otherwise would be to throw away liberal principles for tyranny.
Now how this pertains to my opposing view of #believevictims, is that under our judicial system no victim should be believed or disbelieved until adequate evidence is supplied. This also means that the innocence or guilt of an accused person is only decided once it is empirically proven. In essence you shouldn’t believe victims, but believe the evidence. If instead we throw away evidence for belief in whatever a person says the entire justice system would deteriorate into kangaroo courts, with convictions based off of the best victim stories. If you can’t see why that is a problem, then in my personal opinion, you are beyond help and have no place in civilized society.
Continuing on with the #believevictims. In the case of a convicting a rapist two things need to be empirically proven, 1) that sex did occur, and 2) said sex was non-consensual. Now if an alleged victim comes forth early enough a rape kit can be used to determine the first point. Now despite the name ‘rape’ kit, a rape kit doesn’t prove that a rape occurred it only proves that sex occurred. The real problem in convicting a rapist comes with the second point. How to prove that said sex was non-consensual. If we go by the #believevictims, then anyone accused of rape and then proven to have had sex could be convicted. Although this undoubtedly would convict a lot more rapists it doesn’t conform to the standard of guilty until proven innocent, for the simple reason that an alleged victim could lie.
This one possibility is essentially the bane of the #believevictims. Although you may be inclined to believe someone who says they have been raped (especially if they are a friend), it should not be the foundation for any judicial system. The fact of the matter is, that a person’s word is not empirical evidence and should not be considered so by any court of law. To do so would only create rapists where there are none. You don’t have to be disbelieve victims but neither should you believe them. Keep an unbiased opinion until all the evidence is shown. If all the evidence is shown and it seems like there probably was a rape, but there is still even a tiny shed of doubt, under the standard of innocent until proven guilty, the accused is, in the eyes of the law, not guilty. This might be a hard pill to swallow for some but it must be the case, after all, it is better that ten guilty men should go free than a single innocent man be condemned.
Although I think #believevictims, is a terrible idea, it isn’t because I disbelieve victims, it’s because I believe in innocent until proven guilt. If you really want to support a victim may I suggest something like, #sympathizewithvictims. Anyways that’s just my two cents.
