Got my alt Yukios and alt Malo BT2s!
Just need to get a playset of the 4 cards in BT16, Arukenimon, Mummymon, Arukenimon & Mummymon and MaloMyotismon.
Hopefully I'll be able to get some alts of the new Malo, and then eventually get alts of the Ace.

Watching Marcus Damon take out all these types of Myotismon in Hunters makes me imagine how convenient he would have been if he could have appeared in the Adventure universe.
Just taking the end of 02 as an example;
Myotismon gets his new form in the dream world and starts terrorizing everyone.
All of a sudden this weird portal opens up and out comes Marcus.
One punch later Myotismon lies dying; cursing this cosmic joke of an outcome after years of work.
The kids are frozen in shock and awe.
Oikawa and Arukenimon have even less of an idea as to what the f is even happening anymore.
The only sound is Mummymon clapping and cheering for this random dude that just saved his love interest.
I'd pay to watch that!

Observations on BelialVamdemon
I want to note that the rest of the fight with BelialVamdemon is actually pretty good. The kids realizing that they're fighting him in a hyperbolic space where there aren't really any rules and then using that to simultaneously evolve their Digimon into a separate copy of every form at once? Reminds me of the first Bill Cipher fight from Gravity Falls.
But it's the confrontation in the Digital World that gets really good, because this is where the show pulls the trigger on a major theme that's been steadily building in the background of its plot coupons.
Adventure 02 is about having the freedom to be whoever you want to be, regardless of what society may think of it. You don't have to be rich. You don't have to be successful. You can be a weird little gremlin if that's what makes you happy.
This was most directly discussed in BlackWarGreymon's arc, where he and Agumon literally discuss it out loud with words. BWG spends his arc searching for a purpose, a meaning to his existence. He's looking for someone to tell him who he's supposed to be. And Agumon is the one person asking, "Well, who do you want to be?"
But we also see it with the Dark Spores plotline, especially in Ken. The Dark Spores make kids who bear them exceptional in athletics and academics. It makes them very good at doing the things that society says they're supposed to be doing. It takes away their personal ambitions and instead makes them into exemplary cogs in the societal machine. And they are miserable.
The Digimon Kaiser? He was miserable. Lashing out on sadistic whims looking for a way to feel good about himself. But he sure was very good at sports, and I guess that makes him valuable?
This gets personified in BelialVamdemon, who is literally powered by the misery of Dark Spore children. He's wearing the theme on his nose here. Once the kids realize it's okay to be a weird little gremlin instead of a star soccer player who gets A+ grades, their positivity erases Belial faster than you can say Magic of Friendship.
And then they all get Digimon. Because they wanted to be Chosen Children, and you can be whatever you want to be. It's sweet.

What would happen is the adventure and 02 kids met survive Myotismon and vice versa
I feel like on the Adventure kids' end it would just be like...really funny. Cuz they'd all be freaked out like DIDN'T WE KILL YOU THREE TIMES ALREADY HOW ARE YOU HERE meanwhile Survive Myotismon is just,,,he is just standing there. Once they clear up the misunderstanding it would be cute for them to all just hang out though. HE TALKS ABOUT HIS PARTNER LIKE A MOM SHOWING OFF HER KIDS AND THE ADVENTURE KIDS ARE JUST VERY PERPLEXED BY THIS SWEET SWILLY GUY WHO LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE CREEP THAT TRIED TO ERADICATE THEM.
Tbh it'd be an interesting lesson in not judging a mon by its cover XD
Meanwhile Survive kids meeting the Adventure Myotismon would be...well potentially also funny. Dracmon being like "Watch out, Kaito. Myotismon is an evil and dangerous monster," and Kaito being like "I DON'T WANNA HEAR THAT FROM YOU"
Miu would absolutely be like "of course YOUR partner would share a form with a villain" (mostly jokingly) @ Kaito
Would Adventure Myotismon stay in like the normal form or would the Survive kids have to throw down with MaloMyotismon. Bc if it's the latter I think it would be comically similar to certain moral route shenanigans and they'd totally breeze through it lol
Vampire on Vampire violence
...hey Vampire Violence would be a cool band name. The merch would be like VV but with a curvy line connected them so it looks like a smile with fangs.
That had nothing to do with what you asked I just had an epiphany and felt the need to share it.
#digimon survive#digimon adventure#digimon adventure 02#myotismon#also unrelated can we all talk about how vamdemon is a way cooler name than myotismon#like it's literally vampire demon#why did they feel the need to change that#and belialvamdemon slaps so much harder than malomyotismon#unrelated to ALL of that can we talk about how malomyotismon is actually the most annoying mfer in rumble arena 2#like what kinda op ability is scrambling everyone's controls#madness i'm tellin ya#who let me answer my asks at 2am

CainVamdemon
Nível Perfeito/ Kanzentai/ Ultimate
Atributo Virus
Tipo Fera Demoníaca
Campo Soldados do Pesadelo (NSo)/ Área Negra (DA)
Filho da Meia-noite (Midnight Son) Emite uma Sombra Amaldiçoada que avança tão veloz que transpassa o inimigo corrompendo toda sua programação no processo;
Perpétua Lua de Sangue (Eternal Blood Moon) Abrindo suas enormes asas Draculia, absorve a energia da Lua Vermelha do Mundo Digital Rebuilt e converte em uma chama maligna com cor escarlate que dispara pela boca;
Maldição do Éden (Eden's Curse) Emana uma densa névoa que causa paranóia e loucura ao entrar em contato com inimigo, além de causar dores excruciantes levando a morte;
Pecado Mortal (Second Sin) Empala o inimigo com a cruz de prata Sin na ponta de sua cauda;

Digimon Rumble Arena 2 - Final Thoughts
Omg, I think this is my favorite of the fighting games yet! There was just something so satisfying about it. They found a good sweet spot in terms of difficulty level and simplicity in the gameplay. Also, I'm so happy to get to the PS2 era and that PS2 games WORK on my PC! I've never had a PC that could run PS2 games until now so this feels huge 🥹
Notes:
It's probably because it's on the PS2 instead of PS1, but this game felt a lot sleeker and more "serious" than the first installment. There was no goofy Guilmon voice saying "DIGIMON RUMBLE ARENA" and no Culumon going "which digimon are you gonna play as, huh?" instead we got intense techno music. Although those goofy aspects of the first game were charming in their own way, this one kinda feels like it's for the cool older kids in comparison lol.
I played through single player and did feel motivated enough to unlock all of the digimon this time. I think it's because the criteria for unlocking digimon were way more straightforward. (Also, I was just having fun).
The janky sports mini games from the first game are gone which is probably for the best. In their place we get "secret stages" that are set in the same arenas as normal fights but have different rules. I liked that idea and feel it added a lot to the replayability factor.
I did play through using "normal" digimon twice (Flamemon and Guilmon) but then I just had fun demolishing everyone as boss digimon. Playing as the boss characters definitely feels like cheating, but oh well. Maybe someday I'll challenge myself and do hard mode with Neemon or something. Or maybe not
I found both the controls and the UI to be pretty intuitive which I often find are big barriers to fighting games. It was a nice touch to add instructions to the load screens. Doing each character's "ultimate" attack was fun.
I really enjoyed the digivolution feature. It was easy to understand how you were supposed to achieve it and when you digivolved it actually lasted a decent amount of time. In some digimon games the digivolution is more like a quick summon that doesn't last very long. Here you get enough time with the higher level forms that it feels worth it.
Loved all the dub voice lines. It was pretty funny how your digimon would go "I win!" or "I lost..." basically repeating what the narrator had just said. Hearing the attack names scratched the itch I had from Battle Spirit 2. Some of the "taking damage" sounds were pretty distinct, especially Biyomon's ("owie!")
Winning as BelialVamdemon felt wrong lol. Just a massacre.
I thought the variety and creativity in the stages was good, but some of them were pretty annoying. Steam Town and the Great Waterfall were my least favorites because there was so little surface area to actually fight on. I thought the ones with moving platforms and the Toy Town one that was a sidescroller were really fun. It was satisfying seeing my opponents get KO'd by the scenery mwahaha
In some stages the camera would zoom so far out that I would lose track of my digimon and die as a result.
I enjoyed some of the silly little touches they added via items like "Sleepy time" (makes all of your opponents fall asleep) and "Piñata party" (turns you into a piñata).
Neemon being a boss was funny and unexpected.
I really enjoyed the boss stage because it was over quick, kinda like a wild west showdown. My fave move was cornering the boss, knocking him over, and then throwing him off the ledge >:) Come to think of it the boss in the first game was way harder because it was very difficult to dodge his attacks sometimes and there was less room to move around.
The Black versions of Agumon, Gabumon and Guilmon were interesting. I did feel like this game was a little too Adventure heavy though. We only got one digimon each from Tamers, Adventure 2, and Frontier (not counting bosses). I don't like the obsession this franchise has for Adventure in general...
There's only one more Digimon fighting game for me to play! That's wild to me. Looking forward to it.

Digimon Adventure 02 Countdown Day 7: 02 Gang as a Unit
Among the places in Digital World, Village of Beginnings is one of the unvisited location for them (excluding Takeru, Hikari, and Ken for obvious reasons). 02 kids propose an idea to visit the said village someday.
And here they are, at Village of Beginnings. While Daisuke, Miyako, and Iori are having fun with the digitamas and newborn digimon babies, Takeru and Hikari reminisce about their past experiences in this place (mainly from Adventure era). Ken and Wormmon spend their time together in silence. Afterwards, the group engage in group photo (Hikari holding a digitama is a parallel of her younger self holding the said egg in Adventure Episode 54).
This happens a week after the final battle against BelialVamdemon and Digital World has been restored to original state (in most part).
Dedicated to @digimon02countdown

All of Digimon’s lore is weird and needlessly vague (love it though) but 02 especially is. Intriguing. In case you haven’t heard Ken’s backstory is tied up heavily in the Japanese Wonderswan games… and at least in my opinion, there’s a whole unseen enemy pulling the strings in 02 (Milleniumon) but he fails at the end of the Kaiser arc. Long story short, the point of infecting Ken with the dark seed was probably to get him to recreate Chimeramon so Milleniumon could be revived, but of course Oikawa/BelialVamdemon/02’s 20 other onscreen baddies also found a way to make its effects useful. Of course none of this is ever explained or even explicitly referenced in the actual series but it’s A Thing.
Oh that's fascinating thank you for your insight!
I am very much unaware of content outside of the main series. The vagueness of Digimon can be a challenge for someone like me who wants to write fanfic but doesn't have a grasp on everything. So I'm glad to have people telling me about this stuff, whether it be fact, unseen lore, or opinion.

Speaking of Kakudou, he recently replied to a tweet of mine (out of nowhere lol?) And confirmed that 02 ends in January 1st, 2003 since it is dawn after they defeat BelialVamdemon. I don't know how relevant this is but I just thought it was an interesting moment?? He seems to be paying attention to Adventure discussion sometimes. I was talking about how the 02TB teaser year countdown doesn't actually stop at 1997 if you pause at the right time and may actually go to 1995 as theorized. The whole "doubling each year" rule and such. He seems to have actually read the thread despite no one tagging him. It's just so cool to see him actually get involved like this, he really cares.
Oh, that's interesting to know! Good to memo, thank you for letting me know! (I've been so out of it due to work lately...)
I think Adventure and 02 really were his baby (so to speak), so it's hard to not be emotionally attached to it. The way he talks about it, it's basically the one time he bucketlisted making a tribute to everything he loved and was influenced by, so you can kind of see it as something where he got everything out of his system.
He also seems to be the kind of person who spent a lot of time planning out that lore in absurd detail, and (looks at my old fanfic drafts) yeah, I can respect that one.

Thank you for reading my story Dark Spores are Horcrux makers! Got a question to pick a readers brain. BelialVamdemon/MaloMyotismon. A staple of writing about Zero Two and Ghost Game.
Running on captured living souls to fuel his attacks. Reasonable? Or too abstract.
Digimon is wack, so this is quite within the realm of reason really.

I tracked the card down!
The card has a lovely holographic effect of purple smoke swirling around. It's so shiny and the art is lovely!
Here are pictures of the full set for those interested:
Each card has its own unique holographic effect!
Each of the kids with their digimon, plus Ken in his emporer phase.
The Oikawa gang, BlackWarGreymon, the three jogress/DNA evolutions and, king of the sadists himself, MaloMyotismon/BelialVamdemon... I'll be moving the Oikawa gang away from that one.

Observations on BelialVamdemon's Vision Trap
The start of the confrontation with BelialVamdemon/MaloMyotismon is less than fantastic. As soon as he reveals himself, his sheer presence makes the entire cast (except Daisuke) so utterly terrified that they refuse to fight and embrace death instead. This feels remarkably OOC, especially for Hikari and Takeru.
Since all of his companions are suddenly useless, Daisuke has to face BelialVamdemon alone, with only the Adult-stage XVmon to fight with. Against all reason, XVmon actually manages to drive back Belial and force him to switch gears to a new strategy.
Belial imprisons everyone in a fantasy sequence of their own greatest desires. It lasts like five seconds before they each break out of it of their own accord, making the whole thing kinda pointless.
It does serve to show us what each of them truly wants most. But. Like. That's not really anything new for half of them. Takeru wishes his family wasn't divorced. Iori wants to visit the Digital World with his deceased father, who always wanted to visit the Digital World. That makes sense.
For the other two? It kinda just serves to draw attention to the disproportionate amount of focus paid to certain characters' home lives. Did you know that Miyako resents having a lot of siblings, and longs to have things in her life that are just her own? Did you know that Hikari's greatest ambition is to unify the Digital and Human Worlds, such that every human has a Digimon partner? No? Well, that's probably because this is the first time it's ever come up.
We've talked about Takeru's home life and personal struggles. We've talked about Iori's home life and personal struggles. We've talked about Daisuke's home life and personal struggles. We've talked about Ken's home life and personal struggles a lot. But Hikari and Miyako's home lives and personal struggles haven't gotten that same level of attention.
Well, that isn't entirely true. It's not like they've been devoid of character exploration episodes. It's just. Not this. Hikari's focus episodes were about the Dark Ocean, a completely supernatural threat that has no bearing on her actual character, wants, or ambitions.
Hikari's kinda just been a static support beam for everyone else to lean on throughout the series. Which is probably why her illusion is the shallowest of them all. "Hikari enjoys seeing people get along with Digimon." This character is so paper-thin that this was seriously the best they could come up with.
Miyako has gotten more attention, but not regarding her siblings and home life. In fact, her episodes tend to focus on her being a Disaster Bisexual. She falls head-over-heels in love with the other boys and girls around her at the drop of a hat. Ken, Mimi, and Mimi's friend Michael have all been recipients of this, off the top of my head.
But for some reason, her illusion focuses on an element of her life that the show hasn't really explored at all. We know that her parents run a convenience store and she has a lot of siblings, but we've never really gotten to know her family and home life beyond that.
And now it's supposed to be an important plot point on par with Takeru's broken family drama, Ken's remorse over the Digimon Kaiser, and Iori's longing for a father he never got to know. And it's just. It's not. The time has not been spent to make it so.
But then again, how important a plot point it actually is? That's debatable, because this amounts to a very quick temptation scene that everyone immediately gets over in like five seconds. I don't like it.
(Honestly, they probably should have let Daisuke get taken by the illusion and had Hikari be the one to come free everyone. We all know what Daisuke's illusion would be. It'd be Hikari reciprocating his affections. He has a well-defined personal ambition, and making Hikari the savior character would avoid drawing attention to the fact that she doesn't. Plus, like, being the light in the darkness is literally her job.
Or, alternately, they could have spent time to properly develop these two characters to the same extent that the boys got. But I digress.)
