Birthday Special for Laur (one-shot)

A special little one-shot story for my special sister-friend, @iluvsexyvoltageguys(aka Laur). The story is set in Be My Princess universe (Otome game owned by Voltage Inc). As a disclaimer, I do not own anything...I mean...yeah...I don’t..except for...myself...lol. This is honestly the first time I made a story as a B-day gift for a friend so I hope this story is good enough for her n_n…..I mean I really hope I depicted her properly in this story. If not and she ends up being OOC…..forgive me my friend n_nU...I tried my best >_<. Happy (belated) Birthday Laur, my special, silly friend who I love and want to be possessive towards for laughs ;3.

Laura: “Oh my god! You actually made all this, Kittah!? How were you able to make such a shape!”

Kittah: “Psshh, girl you know I enjoy trying new things with my creations. Plus I wanted to be the first to make you something for your special day. No one, and I mean no one, should beat me in being the first afterall.~”

At present, both of us, for special reasons, are currently residing at Liberty Manse. It was the day before my birthday, February 16th. As usual, my friend, Kittah, always works hard to make various things for me for my birthday. Mainly on the lines of sweets. This year she made lion face cookies. It was a little sloppy but I could tell she put in a lot of effort for me. Though the oddest thing was that she normally gives me my gift first thing in the morning right when I wake up. But knowing her, if I ask she just brushes it off with her amused-cryptic expression. Learning from my time with her, the best thing to do is just to not bother asking. 

Laura: “Can I try one now?” Kittah: “Why ya asking me? Eat when you want. It’s yours.” 

Fair enough. Tasting one,...just oh my gosh! It's soft and not too sweet! She really got this flavor down!

Laura: “Kittah! You are a baking expert!!!” Kittah: “Nah. I ain’t. But seeing ya being all smiley smiley is good enough for me~.” Laura: “Awww! I love ya!! I really love this early birthday gift!”

Kittah: “Heheh. Yes yes I know girl. I know~” I couldn’t help but give her a really big hug. 

During this time, I wasn’t aware of being seen from afar by two people, one of whom had his pair of emerald green eyes stare sharply at the scene. 

------------------------------------------The next day--------------------------------------------

 How did I get myself into this?

I am currently sitting in a helicopter next to Prince Keith. It was dark outside like late evening. Neither Luke nor Kittah was with us. Part of me was confused since Keith hasn’t said anything, but at the same time I had little hope that if this has anything to do with my birthday. 

Thinking about the events from a few hours ago...it was quite something for a morning. 

It was only about 3 hours since I woke up. Of course, as per usual, Kittah wished me Happy Birthday again when I just woke up. And then few of the butlers and maids, as well as Cathy and Luke, wished me happy birthday with a few gifts. Heck, even the princes from the other kingdom, as well as Nobel Michel and Zain, gave me wishes. However, there was one who has yet to do so. I found out that Keith had some important businesses to take care of and would not be back until evening time. It was disheartening but I mean I understand since he’s the prince and all but still...I thought we got close enough for him to wish me early. Well, there’s still hope for the evening. 

Hours went by and I was being kept company by Cathy and Kittah for the majority of the day. We were all in the middle of having evening tea until my phone started ringing, which was off given the time. And when seeing who was calling, I answered immediately. 

Laura: “Hello?” Keith: “Be ready in 15 minutes. Wear something warm. Come to the main gates.” Laura: “Wait wha-?” Beep. Beep. Beep. Typical. I should be used to this already but still. Kittah: “Better hurry and get ready, Laur.” Laura: “Huh?”

Kittah: “You don’t want to keep Brat Boy waiting, now don't ya?”

Cathy: “Hehe, she’s right. Hurry and go get ready!” Both of them knew who was on the phone and gave me amused grins. I swear these two really can read me sometimes. Feeling touched by their thoughtful consideration, I immediately head back to my room to get ready into something warm as he stated. Not too long afterward, I was waiting outside wearing a simple long sleeve white blouse, denim jeans, and a sweater.

But where on earth is he? It’s already been 15 minutes like he said. 

Laura: “Really now. He’s the one who told me to come out here and yet he’s the one late.”

Just as I was about to consider giving him a text, suddenly a burst of wind followed by a loud sound coming from above was heard.

And I couldn’t even believe what I was seeing.

Laura: “What the he-“

???: “Took you long enough! Get up! We don’t have time!”

Well, how unsurprising. It was none other than Keith himself shouting down at me from above...in a helicopter….

Laura: “You gotta be kidding me…”

Ideally, I should be gobsmacked...but somehow I can’t help but be unsurprised by this extravagant entrance as the helicopter slowly descended. Knowing him, he’s gonna get annoyed if I delay any further, so just shrugged it off and got myself in the helicopter with his help.

And now here we are at present times. I still have no clue where he is taking me. He refused to budge and tell me. 

------------------------------------------30 minutes later------------------------------------------

Keith: “We’re here.” And where is here exactly? But of course, I naturally wouldn’t get my answer. Knowing that I was helped down from the helicopter...before I got...blindfolded!? Laura: “W-what the hell!?”

Keith: “Quiet. Just shut up and follow.” Not wasting any time, contrasting to the sound of his voice, he took my hand gently as he was leading me to who knows where. Keith: “We are almost there.” Laura: “Almost whe-” Suddenly I hear the sound of crashing salty-smelling water and crunching sound with each step I take. Are we at a beach..?

Keith: “Stay here. And don’t remove that blindfold until I tell you. Got it?” Placing me somewhere...who knows where...he said that before he walked off without even letting me say anything. Typical. But what the heck is going on?

A few moments later, I hear his footsteps approach me from behind with each crunching footsteps until he stood right behind me. 

Laura: “Hey. Can you please tell me what’s going on-” Keith: “Quiet.”

Immediately after saying that, the blindfold was removed...and at the same time...I heard loud booms in the sky...and it was a sight I didn’t expect. 

Fireworks, one by one and at the same time, rocketing into the sky and bursting into shimmers of colors and shapes...It was breath-taking.

Keith: “And now for the finale…” Laura: “Huh? What do you-..” Keith: “Don’t turn. Look.”

Having both sides of my head motioned back up in the sky...I could not believe what I saw. It was touching enough that I nearly got emotional. 

Afterall….the last sets of fireworks spelled out…             

                                    “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LAURA”

Laura: “Keith, this is..”

I turned around to be surprised again with a bouquet of roses held right out in front of me. There was so much, it practically covered my view of his face...but I swear I could see a small hint of red on his cheeks. 

Keith: “What are you waiting for?? Just take the damn roses already…...no….I mean...It’s your birthday and all...and well...You...like roses...walking on the beach and that kind of stuff...right?”

Laura: “How did you kno-” Keith: “Who do you think I am!? You think I wouldn’t know!? Just take the roses already.” He shoved the roses to me in my hands before looking away, with his ears red. Keith: “And...Happy Birthday…”

He said that before pulling me into a tight embrace.

I never felt happier than I am now. This is truly a birthday that I will never forget for my entire life.

CB Day 40:

didn’t sleep well last night, so i woke up feeling like i barely slept. woke up edgy, made a cup of lemongrass tea and wrote letters. then, did a revitalise class by psycle which was a good balancing flow. decided to stream into morning service for a change + i was waiting to break my fast - ps russel spoke about prayer, and we will be entering 2 weeks of prayer and fasting. i think one area that God has been challenging me this season, is also in the aspect of prayer life and also WHO DO I KNOW HIM AS. i always find it so hard to believe in the power of prayer, idk if i don’t trust in who God is, or do i not trust myself but again, it all boils down to how much i know God - is He someone who only answers certain prayers? or is He a God who answers our prayers, regardless of who we are. 

anyhow, i broke fast on the dot today HAHAHA and felt a bit less edgy after ingesting some CARBSSSSS HAHA mb its the lack of carbs making me angsty.......... and then i proceeded to have lunch + a bunch of snacks (this is why i will never lose weight), but okay ~period cravings~ HAHA i think bad sleep just makes me lose all form of self control. 

it is currently 14:23 and i have yet to do anything productive today, except maybe decide on a birthday gift for aunty yani - i took REAL long on that bc i don’t rly research on skincare much + trying to fit within a budget + having SO MANY options + my indecisiveness ._. it makes me feel like getting stuff for myself too HAHAHA but no, i do NOT need it. 

i plugged in my earpiece and am listening to piano tunes, just for some calming effect + cues to get into the mood to prepare for my interview. i’m trying to tell myself to just be myself, and to really think about what i want and who i am, instead of moulding myself into who i think the interviewers want me to be - i think this is sth that i need to learn, to be truest version of me - and if people are unable to accept, then it is probably not a good fit. also trying to keep in mind that it is He who opens doors and He who closes them - whatever it is, i know that it is for my good. 

going to have belated mothers’ day crab meal for dinner tonight so i guess, cheat day :D am just rly sluggish today but i think i’ll still do a workout later, and if i’m rly not feeling it, i can always do easier variations. 

okay, interview prep time (!!!) 

I ought to be asleep, but I just wanted to end off today!!!

So I did a workout in the end because, keeping the goal in mind. No regrets tho, I think the thing about working out is... the starting is always the hardest. Dinner was super yums, I ate so so so much but no regrets :-) hehe. Also, I shamelessly asked the bf if he could buy me flowers HAHAH Altho I’m not a flower person but I Guess... once awhile it’s nice🥺 and maybe bc life has been so mehhhh. but idk..... the money can probably be used for better things HAHA

Hmm sort of prepared for my interview, but also am a bundle of nervesssssss oh Lord I don’t want to want it more than You. And decided that I will fast from processed sugar and snacking for the next 14 days. Fasting is always such a thin line to tread for me personally bc Idw to use fasting as a cover for other things but this time!! I’ll rly check my heart and make sure that my intentions are right. I’ll also try to be more INTENTIONAL with spending time to prayyyyy.

A Wishy Washy Notes

Day 3: October 26, 2019

A very belated birthday to me. Hehe.

Oh, I wish I can get a bouquet of flowers on my birthday, but don’t mind, I’ll send to myself one. I’ll give myself gift and thank myself because I can stand until today after all of the storm on last year.

First, I’m gonna grateful this new age. Welcome to a quarter of century, I’ll facing my quarter life crisis or maybe it already started? All of my problems in my life until today, I thank God because I can passed.

Maybe this post will be a gratitude list, for the past year. And let me start with Bahasa Indonesia HAHAHAHA.

Tahun lalu, dimulai dengan sidang skripsi. Malam sebelumnya adalah malam cukup hectic, karna malam jam 8, dosen pembimbing gue telepon dan minta untuk daftar sidang gue ngga diundur, karna pada tanggal 26 Oktober 2018 lalu, itu adalah jadwal terakhir kalo gue mau ikut wisuda tahun itu. Padahal gue udah legowo ikut wisuda tahun ini aja, tapi dosen gue kekeuh untuk tetap ikut wisuda dan selesai tahun ini. Bersyukur banget punya dosen begitu, walaupun ngejalaninnya ampun sambil nangis, yang penting cepet selesai hehehe. Disaat yang sama, gue harus selesaiin skripsi, ngejar deadline kerjaan laporan klien dan belajar buat tes cpns. Nangis tiap malem, selama 8 jam di kantor kepala sering kenceng banget, gatau berapa banyak neuralgin dan ranitidine saat itu yang gue minum. Skripsi, beres. Laporan klien, beres. Tes cpns? Gagal hehe kurang dikit nilainya.

November, akhirnya bisa wisuda. Alhamdulillah seneng banget bisa wisuda lagi padahal awalnya mikir “udah pernah wisuda paling gitu-gitu aja”, ternyata nyenengin banget, karna……………..tempatnya nyaman dan mungkin ngga secapek waktu wisuda sebelumnya di mana kaki mau copot banget karna dua hari pake heels dan jalan ke sana ke mari. HAHAHA. Dikadoin baju buat wisuda, terus ada temen yang dateng kasih bunga. Simple but meaningful. Hari sebelumnya sahabat gue nikah, yang di mana dosen pembimbing gue adalah bapaknya. Jadi ketemu lagi deh. Senang. Sayang bapak. Dua hari berturut-turut make up, buat jadi bridesmaid dan wisuda esoknya. Baru ingat, sempet cerita ke temen kalo males wisuda. Kemudian teman bilang, “jangan males, harus dirayakan”. Akhirnya semangat lagi mau wisuda. Padahal lengkapin persyaratan wisuda cuma dapet waktu 2 minggu, termasuk revisi, hardcover, fitting toga, dll. Tapi alhamdulillah, tepat waktu. Dan tidak lupa, berterima kasih kepada nyokap gue, karna dialah yang bisa membawa gue sampai setinggi ini, semua atas kerja kerasnya. Gue mau nangis waktu liat rekap biaya kuliah sarjana ekstensi gue ini, sebanyak itu dan nyokap gue sendirian. I’m so proud of you, mom. I love you.

Bulan berikutnya memutuskan untuk resign, karna udah jenuh dengan dunia auditor, mau cari pengalaman lain. Karna hampir tiap hari gue stress karna kerjaan, padahal sebelumnya sempet stress karna kerjaan tapi ya bisa lewat, kali ini udah ga terbendung lagi, sempat sedih karna mungkin terbiasa di sana tapi akhirnya kekeuh memutuskan cabut. Dan ya welcome to rebahan, makan, rebahan, makan club. Selama 4 bulan menganggur, interview ke sana dan ke mari, akhirnya ketemu kerjaan dan kantor yang cocok (plus dekat dengan rumah). Alhamdulillah, selalu berdoa semoga dikasih kantor yang lebih baik dan ketemu hehehe. Yang paling penting, nyokap ikhlas dan ridho gue kerja di tempat ini. Walaupun ada yang kurang, tapi lingkungan dan suasana kerja nyaman banget dan lagi, gue bisa banyak belajar di sana. Ketemu hal-hal baru, menyenangkan. Dan gue menemukan keluarga di sini. Sebahagia itu.

Setelah itu ada kejadian paling ga enak dalam hidup gue. Gue orang yang jarang cerita hidup gue ke nyokap, tapi hati gue sakit banget saat itu dan akhirnya gue memutuskan untuk cerita ke nyokap. Temen-temen gue juga selalu ingetin gue untuk cerita hal ini ke nyokap. Karna ya, bisa jadi bahaya buat gue. Tadinya ga mau nangis, berusaha kuat. Tapi ga bisa ternyata hati gue terlalu sakit, yang paling sakit adalah tau nyokap gue juga nangis setelah tau cerita gue. Sekarang semuanya udah berlalu, kami berdua sudah kuat. Hidup kami kembali tenang, ya….kecuali pertengkaran-pertengkaran kami sih. I’ve moved on and found a peace. Alhamdulillah, my life is getting better.

Beberapa masalah datang, pergi, datang lagi dan semoga sudah bener-bener pergi. Kemudian tersadar, gue ga melewati semuanya sendirian. Gue bersyukur banget, masih banyak orang yang mendukung, membantu dan memberi kekuatan mereka untuk menguatkan gue. Gue bersyukur punya mereka. Gue tau gue banyak mengecewakan mereka, tapi di lain sisi mereka tetap mau berdiri di sisi gue karna mereka tau diri gue yang sebenernya. Gue sayang banget sama mereka. Mereka mungkin ga selalu ada, tapi mostly mereka selalu berusaha ada buat gue. Telepon kalo gue mau cerita, ketemu kalo mau cerita, mereka meluangkan waktu. Terima kasih semuanya. Gue masih inget ada temen yang bilang ke nyokap gue, “untung okky temennya banyak, tante”. No, bukan karna banyak temen, tapi karna gue punya temen-temen yang beneran sayang dan peduli sama gue. Quality over quantity, they said.

Hidup emang ga semulus paha nia ramadhani. Tapi ga selalu sekelam awan hitam. Mungkin ga terjadi sama hidup gue kali ya yang kelam banget gitu. Pas nonton joker gue sempet mikir “kasian banget hidupnya, ditempa, ditempa, ditempa mulu”. Kebahagian dia cuma ada dipikirannya aja, tidak di dunia nyata. Makanya gue bersyukur, walaupun pernah ada hal-hal yang kelam banget, bikin sakit rohani dan jasmani, semua ini tetep lewat dan gue berusaha lebih baik. Gue akui, di umur 24 tahun kemarin, dramanya luaaaaar biasa, stressnya luar biasaaaa dan pengalaman-pengalaman baik dan buruk yang ga pernah gue bayangin ada di dalam hidup gue bermunculan. Gila gue nulis gini terus inget apa-apa aja langsung sesak nafas.

Oke sampai di paragraf terakhir ya. Hehe. Gue berharap di umur gue yang baru; 25 tahun, gue bisa menjadi pribadi yang lebih baik, gue selalu diberikan kesehatan, mental yang kuat, less drama, less stress, good food, always surrounded by positive vibes people, keluarga dan temen-temen yang baik dan sayang sama gue, selalu diberikan hal-hal baik dan semoga gue tetap bisa jadi hal-hal baik buat orang lain. Kalo ada yang baca ini, boleh tolong doa-doa baik ya buat gue? Makasih hehe. Jangan lupa Al-Fatihah ya! (kalo muslim), yang selain muslim tolong doakan gue juga ya! Hehe. Oh satu lagi, gue kayaknya harus mulai ngurangin pegang hape huf, jadi susah tidur dan suckit kepala terus akhir-akhir ini, tapi ya karna kurang minum juga sikkkk.

This girl right here gave me a belated birthday surprise yesterday and also because our next roster will be total opposite, so she decide to spend the Sunday with me. But the first place to go is makan and she doesn't know where to eat. So, I had to decide the place and we settled with Bali Thai. Then we rushed to ArtScience Museum. And I was so high I was doing and saying stupid things. I'm sorry if I offended you in any ways ah @faey 😝took lots of snaps and I laugh at myself when looking through it. Hahaha then she brought me to Esplanade Theatre to watch DETENTION KATONG! I had a great laugh. I can laugh at simplest things. Hehe I swear I had lots of fun that I will cherish those moments 😍 oh! And not forgetting the gifts. She got me speak out like the one on Ellen! And also the pirate barrel and an eye mask. She told me I need to sleep more when in actual fact she's the one who needs to sleep more. Annoying not? 😒 thanks for spending so much on me and not for setting me up on a date.
