I’m only at chapter 20 so this could easily change if the end game sucks. But for now? I honest to god think Engage is one of the best Fire Emblem games, ever. I’d say the only games that really challenge it are Radiant Dawn and Path of Radiance, for me at least.
It’s flaws, in my opinion, are pretty negligible considering it’s easily the best gameplay the series has ever had. The main thing holding it back is it’s story, and even then it’s not a case of “this is a horrible awful story with no redeeming qualities” (surprised by how many people are saying this tbh) and more of “this is a safe, campy story that’s fun and has a lot of likable characters but doesn’t push the envelope basically at all.
I play FE for the gameplay first and foremost though, and when it came to making a genuinely fun video game they knocked it out of the damn park with this one. They seriously set a high standard for future games with this one, and I honestly couldn’t be happier.
#fire emblem#fe17#fire emblem engage#fe engage#also the story is safe and tropey and stuff ofc#but there are some characters in this game i’m really loving#like the brodia bros??#seadall?#my beloved fogado??#even alear honestly kinda slaps as a protag#i was worried that all the supports would suck cuz of the early game C supports being bad#but they’ve surpassed my expectations#i highly doubt the whole cast is as strong as 3h#but it’s at the very least better than fates and awakening#which is an unpopular opinion i think?? but it shouldn’t be#anyway banger game

i wonder if the reason au diamant is so pathetic is because he’s finally cracked under the pressure
#rex rambles#fire emblem#diamant#i mean think about it: he already know he's insecure about his role in being a good prince and son and being worthy and all that#and he also has that fear of fire too#if the divine dragon dies and the world is plunged into war- morion probably dies similarly or even more tragically#and without a divine dragon to be a beacon of hope diamant kinda Has to go back to brodia and contend with elusia#brodia being plunged into chaos after the loss of their king...#no wonder he's more outwardly a nervous wreck#even worse if jade and amber are dead (since eve chloe and louis are confirmed dead in today's exerpt released on twt)

It's funny cause for the most part of the game, I didn't really care about people's criticisms of Engage's writing and thought they were just mad the story was straightforward and didn't try to be overly complex... But now that I'm (finally) reaching the endgame, there's a loooot of weird plotholes that 3H would be jealous of lol.
#i think that what bothers me the most is the fact that we don't know how elyos really works#because with a few exceptions the supports don't really go into it#and the paralogues focusing on the emblems and fanservice references to the older games is a huuuuuge missed opportunity#my experience has still been overall positive but the cracks are definitely showing lmao#thinking thoughts#to be fair i do love how unlike 3h we do actually get to see the four nations have their own identity and explore them after a battle#because BOY was 3H lacking in that aspect just because they wanted to sell you a red herring#but there's telling and not showing. and there's showing and not telling. and one isn't necessarily better than the other#i need a bit of both you know#3h doesn't wanna delve too much into the intricacies of each country because the second it would do so#the whole ''da church controls errything'' red herring would fall apart and the devs really don't want that#so we gotta stay in the monastery at all times and since the monastery is in the very small chunk of land the church DOES control#it helps to keep you in the dark about how things really work#even though the storytelling makes it clear the central church barely controls anything and only intervenes when ASKED#meanwhile elyos really really shows you each kingdom with detail when it comes to aesthetics and culture. which is neat!#but we know little to nothing else even though they keep hinting that the kingdoms each work differently#and we know even LESS about lythos which bothers me the most!#and none of this would bother me at all if we didn't have stuff like the brodia/elusia conflicts in the background#or the existence of a fell dragon religion. or fucking gradlon. or the many dragon races. or kagetsu being a prince#or lumera suddenly having a child and everyone going along with it etc

ADOPTION! (With Force).
Based on an idea me and @moe-broey had
Bernie's part of the Brodian family now, sorry we don't make the rules
#fire emblem#HONESTLY... SO REAL. bernie would benefit so much from being morion's daughter.#like even beyond her own dad being a piece of shit. morion is just one of the funniest dads in fe i think#like you look at alcryst and all the context clues about brodia and you're like okay so your dad is a piece of shit right?#and in some respects. he is shitty. like he does fuck over elusia. a lot. but as far as parenting goes#he's one of the BEST he is his sons' BIGGEST hypeman ESP alcryst's and not only is that funny as hell but it's so refreshing to see!!!!#bernie deserves this treatment also.#morion#diamant#alcryst#fe bernadetta#other's art

I love the message about Brodians being able to thrive in a world of peace, as shown through the actions of Amber and Jade. But I would argue that they aren't the only supports where Diamant can let go of his stress, either.
Kagetsu, for one? Nothing about Brodia's legacy comes up in that support. Just two men connecting over an interest in swordsmanship, and learning about each other and the world through it.
And while the other anon did NOT say this, I was reminded of a narrative I have seen about Diamant... that he can only be "himself" with Amber and Jade, or that he "loses his personality" with anyone else, and I'd argue that, no, that's not the case at all.
His joyful side isn't some hidden part of his that he's afraid to show because of Brodian society - have you seen how openly silly Morion is, as king? - it's an important part of him, but not all of him. Not his "real" self.
What he hides about himself is perceived weakness.
With Alear, he's able to be vulnerable in a way he isn't with many others, not even his retainers. Still burdened by the anxiety of rule, but finding a sense of calm in finally having another person to relate with on those same issues. With Ivy, he's also able to voice these concerns with her, who is in the most similar position to him, and they both find confidence and hope for the future through their developing understanding of each other.
His support with Alcryst isn't about the sins of Brodia's past, but more about Diamant opening up about his own fears (with fire, something he tells no one else but Emblems), and how he and his brother find new understanding in each other by realizing that neither of them are perfect, and that it's okay not to be, as long as they keep pushing forward and do their best for Brodia.
Timerra and Veyle open him up to a new way of connecting with his people, outside of combat. Alfred teaches him the importance of optimism and trust.
Amber and Jade are a safe space where he can be unfettered and joyful, and it does help that they are people very disconnected from his stresses and anxieties. But that joy isn't the only thing he needs. It's the concepts of hope, friendship, family, community. There are elements in Diamant's other relationships that are important for his peace of mind too.
The ability to be vulnerable when society has told him not to be, to open himself up to a world not ruled by combat, to trust in others...
He has a wonderful range of supports that informs all aspects of his character, and so many of them are underrated. There are a lot of layers going on with this guy that makes his character so appealing, and I don't think many tend to appreciate it!

Have you ever noticed that Alear and the Four Royals acts as a Five Man Band? The story may not show that well, but their gameplay, nations and represented Emblems demonstrate that they are this trope perfectly. Veyle acts as the Sixth Ranger (actually 11th Hour Ranger). They best represent this trope as well because Alear, the Royals and Veyle are the only playable characters that can’t die on Classic Mode (oh and Vander too, but he’s just a mentor kind of guy).
The Five Man Band is among one my favorite tropes in media. Why? IDK why, it just is. I used to be a Power Rangers fan, five is usually among the highest these teams get to. In which case it becomes a Three plus two scenario where a Power Trio becomes a Five Man Band (Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, and Jungle Fury come to mind).
I bring up this trope to talk about Fire Emblem Engage specifically, Alear, and the Four Primary Royals fit this trope. And it’s not just in team composition, IMO, the Emblems they are best known for (specifically in the Prologue cutscene) best give idea on why they fit the role in the team.
Alear the The Hero/Leader of the team; because obviously they are the Fire Emblem Lord, they are the Divine Dragon: the only one who can summon the Emblems who can save the world from the Fell Dragon. And just like any other Fire Emblem Lord in the franchise, if they are defeated, it’s a game over. Pretty typical Fire Emblem knowledge.
Alear’s most common Emblem is Marth. Marth is the first ever Fire Emblem Lord in the franchise, the idealistic leader that his loved ones trust and follows. Marth is the first of many sword wielding heroes in the franchise. Swords are a very common weapon type for heroes (Micaiah is the only Emblem in the main game that canonically never uses swords).
Alfred is the Lancer. Who usually acts a foil to the Hero/Leader, usually is their first/best friend/companion, and/or is the first to question any decision the leader/hero makes. Not every character of the archetype has to be a rival or a jerk (or in most cases both), Alfred is one of those examples. Alfred is the first Royal to join. Firene has the closest ties with Lumera, and Alfred appears in more cutscenes than any other Royal in the game. (Double points for having Lances as his primary weapon type).
The Emblem he uses in the Prologue is Lucina. Lucina is the not the central protagonist of Awakening, Chrom is. Even still, Lucina is a character who acts as an emotional foil to Chrom. More importantly, Lucina is the descendant of Marth, who happens to be Alear’s most associated Emblem.
Diamant is the big guy/muscle of Alear’s team. Brodia is the Kingdom of Might after all. Diamant is the most physically imposing with his main stats being his HP, Strength and Defense. Diamant is also the tallest and oldest member of the team (age being 25, Alfred is 21, Ivy is 20, Timerra is 18 and Alear is physically 17).
Diamant’s national Emblem is Roy, who gives Sword Power as an inheritance skill that allows Diamant to hit harder with a sword, but at the cost of avoid. Rise Above (Emblem Roy’s Engage skill) increases his level and stats along with them. Ironically, Roy was 15 years old in his games, Diamant is the oldest Royal, yet Roy is one of the younger FE lords next to Leif.
Next is Ivy, befitting of Elusia’s title of the Kingdom of Knowledge, she is the smart girl. Ivy has gone to school and was at the top of her class. (Studying is also one of her hobbies and likes items regarding them) Ivy is the most level headed of the Royals. Ivy is the only member of this main team that uses magic, and her ability to fly and heal is invaluable in a Fire Emblem game.
Ivy is associated with two Emblems rather than one. Lyn (the Emblem entrusted to Elusia) has the ability to summon doubles that can be used to distract the enemy. While Leif is an Emblem that switches between your current weapons it best suit the situation (often for the worst, unfortunately). It’s also worth noting that Soren is the DLC Emblem entrusted to Alt. Elusia. Soren is the Tactician of the Greil Mercenaries.
Finally, Timerra acts the emotional core to the team as the heart. Despite being far more politically savvy than what her peppy personality might suggest, she still is a genuine mood-maker in her supports where she attempts to get Ivy to open up and give perspective to Diamant on their ways of leading their countries. Her Queendom represents Freedom and is a very accepting person.
Her Emblem is Ike, and even if people mainly see him as a snarky guy, Ike is a very compassionate person. I mean, Ike would have to be a nice guy if he is the only person Soren is unfailingly kind to and is devoted to above everyone else. Ike’s Resolve (pun intended) is the thing that keeps the Greil Mercenaries from falling apart after his father’s death. Gameplay wise, Timerra with Ike act as a Critical Hit fighter with Wrath and Sandstorm. It takes a lot of effort and a bit of luck to make the most of her.
And finally, Veyle rounds out the team as the Sixth Ranger (doubles as 11th Hour Ranger, she is the last recruit in the main game). Sixth Rangers often comes joining in the team after a rivalry dispute and or brainwashing (Tommy Oliver (trope namer) and Zuko from Avatar comes to mind), Veyle is no exception. Veyle is the only other Non DLC Dragon units in the game. Most Sixth Rangers often (like the Red Ranger) have a power no other Ranger does.
Veyle doesn’t have a designated Emblem outside of Marth (who her evil self used, and she has boss dialogue with Emblem Marth in his Paralogue), but I consider Emblem Alear to be the closest thing Veyle will get to a designated Emblem. Her evil self also wears Alear’s Ring in the bad ending.
The major difference between Alear’s team, and the Four Hounds led by EVeyle is that the Hounds were already formed long before the story began. Alear and the Four Royals don’t officially form until more than halfway through Engage’s main story chapters. And yet these guys became a real team where the Hounds failed.

In general tho: I like muses with whom I can explore aspects of human personality I wouldn't necessarily venture into on my own. (certain brands of conflict, responsibility, etc)
Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? idk i think if i really wanted to write a kind of char i probably. would. but i guess the 'much more like Actually Super Intelligent than i can realistically pretend at' would be it i suppose

A Hector near the end of his schooling arc might be neat (he's learned what he's came here for, he's ready to return to Ostia and do Uther and his people proud, and more competently than many mightve imagined at that) but. When that day comes he might really be actually going home soon lol.
Favorite TOA-related memories? lock and key jailbreak. bunker dead by daylight. unscripted both as a mod and as a player like. all of it. the first toa zine. the memes in all the discord pins (aka the laughs). really there's so much

Celebrating TOA and the people who contribute to make our group what it is.
Repost, don't reblog. Only fill in what you feel comfortable sharing!
Happy anniversary, TOA! Here's to many more years spent together.
Name: Dewa/Dewba
Pronouns: She/Her
Birthday (no year): October 2nd, same as Rua!
Where are you from? What is your time zone? France, CEST
How long is your roleplay experience? I always say 10+ because I sincerely have no idea anymore just A Long Time
How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? My Little Pony OC roleplay with my DeviantArt friends in Join.me art streams
How were you introduced to TOA? An ex-member kept talking about it to me until one day I decided to give it a go!
Do you have any pets? Two cockatiels!
What is your favorite time of year and why? (Season, holiday, general period) Winter...I love winter. I love snow.
What is your IRL occupation? I'm a design + marketing master student with focus on the luxury industry! I'm also a freelance artist.
Some interests and things you like/enjoy? Sports, building scale models, drawing
What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? Pokemon, Metal Gear, Megaman
Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: Flying type. I love Cutiefly.
Tell us some funfacts and trivia about yourself! (Optional bonus challenge: if you filled this out last year, try not to repeat what you said back then!) My work was personally acknowledged by Hideo Kojima, and I was an advanced-level figure skater for 6 years doing public skating shows.
How did you get into Fire Emblem? Marth and Ike in Super Smash Bros Brawl was my first exposition to FE 😔 THO what got me into FE was 3H
What Fire Emblem games have you played? :) FE Warriors: Three Hopes and FEH EZGNFXGN
First & Favorite Fire Emblem games: Just 3H for all options
List your 5 favorite Fire Emblem characters across the series! Dimitri, Constance, Dedue, Idunn, Lambert
Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! Ingrid, actually! She was the first character in 3H who actually caught my eye, both because I find her design very pretty and because I liked the serious knight girl + pegasus rider combo.
Any Fire Emblem crushes? 😳 Mycen. I won't elaborate.
If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? Three Houses Hopes: Ingrid
Favorite Fire Emblem class? Pegasus Knight!
If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class and stats? Would you be playable? After a bizarre chat with some friends I realized that my full IRL name's meaning literally translates to "cavalier messenger angel of the fortress" so I guess I'm your good ol' Pegasus Knight recruit who's a light magic user
If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation? (Black Eagles, Blue Lions, Golden Deer, Church of Seiros, Those Who Slither in the Dark, unaffiliated civilian, other - for example Almyran) What I want? Blue Lions. Realistically? Church of Seiros, considering my track record with being under religious learning institutions.
If you were an Officers Academy student, what would be your boons, banes and potential budding talent? Boon: Flying, Authority Budding talent: Faith Banes: Gauntlets, Heavy Armor
If you were an Engage character, which nation would you originate from? (Firene, the Kingdom of Abundance; Brodia, the Kingdom of Might; Elusia, the Kingdom of Knowledge; Solm, the Queendom of Freedom; Lythos, the holy land of the Divine Dragon; Gradlon, the desolate land of the Fell Dragon) What I want? Brodia. Realistically? I am brazilian. So I would be the brazilian equivalent of Elyos, aka Solm. Come to Solm.
How do you pronounce TOA? 🤔(separate letters, to-ah, other?) Toe
Current TOA muses: Lambert and Sylvain!
Past TOA muses? Dimitri, Seteth, Hapi, Idunn, M!Byleth, Percy
Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? Dimitri! Honestly, right now nope! Not only he'd clash with the fact I'm already playing Lambert, but he's also receiving much well deserved love from another mun right now. I'm happy like this!
Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) Anything that's from Fódlan, good people who have gone through hell and haven't even begun their road to recovery, lil weirdos.
Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? Smart characters. Because I'm not smart. Also characters who are canonly very verbose and have very flowery language, I don't have the vocabulary to make it seem natural.
What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I have no idea honestly....whatever brings joy at the moment.
Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? Lambert in his full kingly glory (softsmile), Sylvain showcasing his true, raw self to someone.
Favorite TOA-related memories? Byleth losing HP while fighting a fish with Arden's Frederick in order to impress fishermen, breaking his hand on a table, and then getting kicked in the nuts. All in the same event.
Present or past tense? I don't really keep track of this at all actually oops- past I suppose?
Normal size text, small text, no preference? I default to normal size.
Got any potential muse delusions to share? 😉 Mila. And every time I open 3Hopes I get Annette flashbangs. But mostly Mila.

Hi! Do you think you could do Diamant x reader headcanons? Maybe what being married to the crown Prince is like? Thank you for your time!
Of course! Thank you for your request! Hope I did him justice!
Spoilers for chapter 10 of Fire Emblem Engage.
CW: Mentions of character death
Word Count: 859 (Approx)
His Queen
-Diamant is a proud ruler, and even though he’s married to you now, he has trouble allowing you to take on some of the burdens of his kingdom.
-You know he works so hard to keep Brodia thriving. He wants to make his father proud, and make Brodia an even better kingdom than his father left it, but doing so can take quite a toll on him.
-From board meetings, to peace councils, its all a lot for one King, but he refuses to let you lift a pretty finger in any share of the work, less you get hurt.
-“It’s a feast, not a battle field I’ll be fine. This kingdom is my responsibility now too, Diamant. Otherwise I wouldn’t be the Queen. I just think you’re overworking yourself as of late. Maybe it’s time for a break.” You would say. Diamant would sigh and look into your eyes. Finally relenting that maybe you’re right, and that you’re more capable to pick up some more work around the kingdom.
-Following that discussion he would allow you to take on more responsibilities around Brodia . Only a little at a time though, he still doesn’t want to burden you with his job no matter how much you insist on it being alright.
-Diamant is a really sweet and loving husband, all things considered. He despises not being able to be around you every second of the day, and makes sure to send you lots of flowers, jewelry, and other small trinkets to remind you he’s always thinking of you even when he’s not there.
-When he’s feeling especially sentimental (Or bored at certain kingly affairs) He’ll often quietly slip the ring you gave him out of his concealed pocket, absently fidgeting with the precious band as his thoughts drift to those of you. Your smell, your laugh, your eyes. He really cant get enough.
-When you first started courting, he began to train even harder in order to be able to protect you better, and that worry only expanded when you got married. Often you’ll have to turn away security guards Diamant has sent to protect you when he’s not around. While this habit of his is slightly annoying, you know it comes from a place of love and try not to let it bother you too much.
-Nights with Diamant can be wondrous yet also difficult. After long days of not being able to see each other he loves to hold onto you and simply be in your presence as you recount the events of your day. He loves listening to the sound of your voice and claims it’s the only thing that can get him to sleep.
-Speaking of sleep, it is not uncommon for Diamant to have restless nights. You’ll often awake to an empty bed only to find Diamant on the balcony. Silent tears rolling down his face.
-Trying to get him to speak on his feelings would prove difficult. He’ll assure you that he’s fine, even though you can still see the traces of his tears on his otherwise flawless features. With enough coaxing and ensuring that it’s okay to not be okay, he’ll finally open up to you.
-He’ll express his worry for his brother, who had to kill their father all because Diamant couldn’t muster up the courage. His guilt for not being strong enough when the time came to be. He worries about how it affected Alcryst. As well as fearing he’s not cut out for running a kingdom when his own little brother had to take charge because of his hesitation. He worries the same will happen to you, and he won’t be able to save you. He says that he’s a coward not fit to rule.
-You immediately take to hugging your distressed husband, previous annoyances with his overprotective habits dissipating as you realize he was just scared. Tears of your own roll down your cheeks, as you console and reassure your husband that he’s an incredible ruler, and an even better husband. You say that fear isn’t a bad thing, and that its a normal thing everyone experiences. You acknowledge that Alcryst was the one to step up when things got bad, but that doesn’t make Diamant weak, having to kill a parent is a task no one wants to do. You say if it continues to bother him, he should speak with Alcryst himself. You’re sure that Alcryst would appreciate it since he looks up to Diamant so much.
-You explain to Diamant that he is a great ruler, and his subjects love him as well as you. Diamant thanks you for your kind words and embraces you. He apologizes for causing you distress, but you make him shut up those self-deprecating comments with a kiss, and say he never has to apologize for having emotions.
-Coaxing Diamant back into bed, he has one of the most peaceful nights sleep in a long time with his queen by his side.

World building and theories of Engage
The Grey of King Hyacinth
We actually don't get to know very much about the real King Hyacinth in the game because he spends most of it under Sombron's influence. The true personality of Hyacinth is mostly learnt about through secondary education vidence, for example the comments made by his daughters. On the positive sides of his personality, we learn from both Ivy and Hortensia that their father was a kind man who cared for his family and his kingdom. His wisdom earned him the name ‘The Sage King'. In Chapter 17: Serenity in Ruin, King Hyacinth's wisdom is confirmed by Hortensia when she tells the Corrupted version of her father that;
‘I want to live up to my father, the wise king of Elusia.’
Both of his daughters remark how their father changed after Sombron is awakened.
‘Ever since Lord Sombron has been released. Father has been acting weird. He used to be so kind to me.’ (Chapter 10, The Fell Dragon Dungeon - Hortensia)
‘Father stopped being king as soon as the Fell Dragon awoke. Since then true power has rested with Sombron, his daughter and the four hounds. If you want back now, you would become an instrument of their designs, just as father was.’ (Chapter 14, The Battle for Solm - Ivy)
Which of his actions and personality traits are truly him? One thing we know for certain was that he planned and worked to awaken Sombron? Does this make him underhanded, scheming, cunning, desperate or a mixture of these qualities? It is difficult to say. Personally I wouldn't call it underhanded or dirty, rather I would say that Elusia calling upon their deity for aid is a rational response. Brodia can call upon the Divine Dragon and the forces of Lythos to aid them if necessary. Brodia was created with the blessing of the Divine Dragon after all. Elusia awakening Sombron could be seen as levelling the playing field. Was it a cunning scheme? With hindsight it is easy to argue that Hyacinth was shortsighted. He aimed to use Sombron's power to protect Elusia from attacks by Brodia and in the end it was his undoing. I would suggest that while awakening Sombron was rational, it was not cunning. It is strange that a kingdom that values knowledge failed to fully research the potential consequences of awakening Sombron, that is why I believe that awakening Sombron was a decision made out of desperation. Hyacinth is not a warrior, he is primarily a healer and the Manga shows him feeble in body. He cannot protect his kingdom on his own. People are dying and the potential to reap the resources near the border is limited; it is understandable that Hyacinth would seek extra power in these circumstances.
Is Hyacinth cowardly? Could this cowardice be another reason why he desperately sought more power to defend from Brodia's attacks? The two times he shows cowardice are in situations where his life is threatened. Fear is not an unreasonable response to death and pain. I would not necessarily call someone fearing death cowardly. Hyacinth also displays his ‘cowardly reactions after Sombron woke, when his personality had changed. How much of his reactions are influenced by his ‘personality change?’ I suspect that he would display a fearful reaction even without the personality change. I believe his ‘cowardice’ is meant to be compared to King Morion charging fearlessly into the battlefield and bravely, some might say foolishly, accepting that death is a possibility. I still think that calling someone a coward for panicking when a large Dragon is about to eat them is rather unfair.
The strategy employed by King Hyacinth to capture King Morion is designed to be a contrast to King Morion depending upon his might and skills as a warrior. King Morion wants to use his might and only his might to defeat Hyacinth. It is that pride that results with him being killed. Hyacinth is not too proud to accept the power of the Fell Dragon or the emblem rings. The only way he could defeat King Morion one on one is with cunning and assistance. He knows about Brodia's sense of pride and that serves as the bait to capture King Morion. Their battle is brain vs brawn, in the end neither ends up willing.
At the time of the attacks on Brofia, Hyacinth is under the influence of the Fell Dragon, it is unclear whether he would have employed such a strategy without that influence or would have employed his daughters in the same way. I doubt a normal Hyacinth would have treated Ivy as disposable, not would a supposedly kind king taunt the Brodian royal with their corrupted father.I believe that there are still traces of him, as demonstrated by him continuing to give Hortensia emblem rings and his fear of death but the majority of his personality has changed.
One trait we are made aware of us that Hyacinth had mistresses and his court was toxic. He was not under the influence of Sombron when he acquired more women. This could be a demonstration of his feeble mind:
he was unable to resist the temptation of beautiful women and had many mistresses along with a wife,
he was unable to manage the competitive situation in his court which resulted in a toxic atmosphere for his children to grow up in,
he failed to protect his daughters from that atmosphere
he failed to manage the jealousy of his wife and was the cause of it,
Is King Hyacinth bad?
No, awakening Sombron could be viewed as a defensive response to Brodia's warmongering. He was naive about what would result from awakening the Fell Dragon, perhaps even arrogant for believing he could manage that power. I would argue that he is not a great father. The damage caused by his promiscuity is evidence that he puts his needs and desires before that of his children. As a father he is responsible for Ivy's lack of trust and Hortensia's obsession with her appearance. Hyacinth sits in that grey middle ground where his actions are not evil but they are seriously misguided, in his personal life he is definitely not very loyal and selfish.

Can I request Day 6 Augtickletober2023 (chase) with ler!Diamant and Lee!Alcryst please? Luv the brother bois ❤️💙
To Chase the Gloom Away
Author’s note: *Runs up and tackles you with a big hug into a pile of pillows!* Anon!!! Thank you for requesting Engage content and the Brodian bois on top of it! I hope you enjoy Day 6 of Tickletober: Chase! (From August’s Tickletober 2023 list)!
Series: Fire Emblem Engage
Characters: Diamant and Alcryst
Word count: 700
Summary: Alcryst thinks that his presence is negatively affecting animals, so Diamant chases his brother down with a plan to help change that.
—
Alcryst needs to run.
The younger prince knows that look on his brother’s face anywhere when Diamant can earn a silly reaction out of Alcryst due to a poke to his side. Before the poke, Alcryst was worried that the animals they were taking care of in the farmyard together could feel his negative energy emanating from his presence. This resulted in Diamant taking it upon himself to remedy that, hence the poke.
And now, instead of just thinking about running, Alcryst needs to actually run.
Diamant reaches out to grab him, but Alcryst bolts before he can get the chance. Alcryst didn’t expect that he would be involved in a chase today, let alone running like a rabbit for safety from a big brother wolf hunting him down.
The younger prince books it out of the farmyard and onto the Somniel’s trail. He races past the records hall. Diamant begins closing the gap, quickly, like a speeding bull.
Alcryst looks over his shoulder and sees Diamant closing in. He takes a sharp right towards the front of the stables, his boots skidding through the dirt as he tries to escape, but…
“GAH!” Alcryst screams as Diamant throws his arms around him, completely stopping him in his tracks. The momentum happens so suddenly that Alcryst’s legs are lifted off the floor before they land back on the dirt. Alcryst frantically squirms, trying to free his arms trapped at his sides and his body currently squeezed in a bear hug.
“D-Diamant! Wait!” Alcryst pleads over his shoulder.
“Sorry baby brother,” Diamant says with a grin. With that, Diamant scribbles his fingers into Alcryst’s sides. The younger prince immediately jolts with laughter, wildly squirms, and tries tugging himself away in an attempt to escape Diamant’s hug.
“Dihihiamahahant! Quhihihit it!” Alcryst bends forward. With another tug, the younger prince collapses into the dirt. He rolls over onto his back, unfortunately allowing his big brother to leap at him from above and ambush his sides.
Alcryst sputters out another yelp, followed by a rush of giggles. Alcryst curls himself into a ball and teeters from one side to the other as he tries to shake Diamant’s fingers from reaching his ticklish spots, but Diamant gives another squeeze to Alcryst’s unguarded sides, making his younger brother squeak like a baby bird.
“See, I knew this would work,” Diamant smiles and wrestles his flailing brother down to worm his fingers into his underarms. “You’re happier already!”
The horses in the stables beside them neigh with sounds of delight as they are spectators of the scene, almost like they’re laughing along with Alcryst. Diamant notices this, then glances down at his giggling brother. “Hear that, Alcryst? The horses are happy too. Proof that your presence isn’t bringing them down.”
“Buhuhuhut that’s because you’re tihhihickling mehehehe!” Alcryst argues through his giddy laughter.
Diamant chuckles. “First of all, I think the animals would enjoy being around you whether I was tickling you or not. Secondly, can you blame me?” Diamant smirks as if his own smile will add on to Alcryst’s cheer up process, “I have to encourage my baby brother to stay positive one way or another!” The crown prince of Brodia then drills his fingers back into Alcryst’s sides, trapping his brother’s torso in a tickly pincer attack.
“AHA!” Alcryst squeals and wriggles onto his side, “Diamahahant! Nohoho mohohohore! Plehehease!!!”
Diamant smiles and releases his brother. Alcryst flops limp on ground. He takes in any missing air as he maneuvers his limbs out of their curled, armadillo-like state. Diamant grabs Alcryst’s arm and helps him up to his feet. The older Brodian prince dusts the dirt off the shoulders of Alcryst’s jacket, then wraps an arm around his little brother.
“Come on,” Diamant tilts his head towards the farmyard, “let’s go finish caring for the animals.” He pats Alcryst on the back as they move forward. Alcryst jumps for a moment from the taps to his back, but he then relaxes into his brother’s hold of safety over his shoulder. As a matter of fact, Alcryst doesn’t feel a thundercloud of negativity over his chest like he did earlier. The tickles must have chased the gloom away.

Fire Emblem Engage Cross-Swap AU
Omigosh, it's happening.
So, Cross-Swap. Also known as "we swapped Firene and Elusia, and Brodia and Solm, among other things".
Let's start with the introductions: the Royals! Here they are all together:
(order: same as intro song, so Firene - Brodia - Solm - Elusia)
And now, for more individual details under the cut:
Ivy: "Calming Rose"
A reserved, soft-spoken princess of Firene than can often be found in the gardens, a cup of tea in one hand and a novel in the other. Losing her mother the day that her sister was born left her battling anxiety and the fear of abandonment for a large portion of her childhood. However, through trips to visit the sleeping Divine Dragon in Lythos, she could find solace in a friend that would listen to her fears, never judge her, and remain ever by her side. While still plagued by ghosts of the past, time and therapy have allowed her to tame some of her fears, and she endeavors to grow into the image of the unshakeable, ever-benevolent ruler that her people see in her.
As for her retainers, I imagine Zelkov could have been an assassin before going into medicine (friendly reminder that we have Jean in base game from Firene), and Kagetsu... honestly it's still in development, but he could come from the islands where the Divine Paralogues happen.
Hortensia: "Budding Charm"
The second princess of Firene, and while cheerful and sociable at times, she can also appear oddly demure and analytical depending on the situation. While she never had the chance to know her mother personally, many people take every chance to remind her just how much she resembles her. Even with her father stepping up to fight constant battles of comparisons throughout her life, she still finds herself torn between her enjoyment of cute and artsy things and her desire to be recognized as her own person, and struggles with self-acceptance and finding who she is or should be. Dislikes conflicts and arguments, and always doing her best to encourage others to pursue their passions and cheer them up like she tried to do for her sister for so many years.
Goldmary is going to have a FIELD DAY in Firene (she loves chores, for context). Probably Rosado as well (all those beautiful flowers to paint...) Now as for how they met... to be determined.
Timerra: "Humbling Force"
The crown princess of the Queendom of Bordia and an advocate for diplomacy and change in a stubborn, unchanging country. Used to skip training when she was young to roam the streets and look for people to help, only to be faced with closed doors and a home that consistently found her to be too weak for their liking. Though naturally very strong, she cannot escape the impression left by her "irresponsibility", and remains in the constant loop of trying to prove herself and still never being enough for the court. Hardened and unerringly dutiful on the surface, but she still adores singing, shopping, and exploring the mountainscape on horseback, sometimes sneaking out on fishing and camping trips with her brother and proceeding to scare away the fish with their constant laughter.
Merrin could be a noble who got her way into knighthood by escaping her duties and meeting Timerra one day. Panette definitely won the tournament to become her retainer. She did so by busting her way out of the streets despite her... parents... for her and her brother's sake.
Fogado: "Magnetic Militant"
The silver tongued, strategic minded prince of Brodia that believes in his sister's ideals more than anyone. Through constant, covert endeavors to train his body, sharpen his tongue, and support his sister, the court was often pleased by his prowess and began to favor him over his sister and flooded the two with constant comparisons. And now, caught between trying to shake off their disappointment in her and keep his hold on the court, he feels lost and can't find where to turn, though getting him to drop his act and admit it is a game all on its own. Still, their bond remains unbreakable, if not growing stronger, with both knowing just how hard the other works and laughing off as much of their troubles as they can manage.
Bunet became a retainer in the same tournament as Panette (yes, he lost against her), as the Sibbies are extremely close age-wise. Perhaps as a way to help his family after his village was raided by bandits? Would make a nice parallel to Saphir. Pandreo was found and got out of his terrible situation via Panette and the Sibbies. He's grateful for all of them, while his horrendous strength is not helping him in the court.
Alfred: "Snowy Hope"
Elusia's bubbly and ever-optimistic crown prince, and the kingdom's beloved "beacon of light". Chronic illness forced him to spend most of his childhood indoors and away from the harsh weather of the land, leaving him with a weak constitution, but ample time to study and perfect his magic. With his sister's research, a magical "medicine" could be used to improve his quality of life, but never quite curing his illness. Because of this, his family still proposes the Fell Dragon's "miracle" to permanently extend his life, and pushing against this, he chooses to secretly worship the Divine and make the most of the life he has. Dedicated to his country and pure of heart to a fault, one may consistently find him soaring the skies on his pegasus, visiting his people, captivating children with his magic tricks, and rescuing any and all who need help despite the toll it takes on him.
He'd be a Pegasus Mage Knight of sorts, being able to use Lances, Tomes, and Staves upon promotion. Glass Cannon type, keep him far away from archers.
Etie could be a member of the Elusian court! Appointed to Alfred instead of Céline like in base game, but now she can throw hands. And break archers for her liege's sake while at it. Boucheron... perhaps there could be something like the Village of the Fair Folk, but for hunky people? Either way, snow and forests are not helping if his sense of direction is still horrendous.
Céline: "Icy Guardian"
Described by others as calculating and almost cruel, but rather sentimental and compassionate underneath her icey façade. Though only the half-sister to the crown prince, she lives with the expectation of taking the throne for herself one day and does everything in her power to see that it will never happen. Balancing political ambition, magical research, and physical training with her wyvern has left her with many sleepless nights and contending with far more nightmares. Though she fears the potential outcomes of war, and perhaps developed a slight vendetta against archers, she believes that the Fell Dragon can help her land and family where the Divine could not. Enjoys art and painting, capturing the fleeting moments of the world's beauty and the memories of her brother and friends before they might dull and fade.
I imagine she could work well in a similar class from Zelestia, as in a wyvern rider with access to Swords and Tomes.
Don't have much on Chloé and Louis, while they could have met at the Academy like Hortensia with Rosado and Goldmary in base game. Mintavia and I joked that Chloé is responsible for 99% of the trinkets in Alfred's hidden Divine shrine. She just picked stuff she found interesting during her flights with the siblings, and he gladly took them.
Diamant: "Sand's Scion"
Solm's steadfast and amicable crown prince and regarded by his people as practically perfect. Incredibly versed in negotiating and diplomacy, which may or may not stem from growing up too quickly and being forced to calm a few heated arguments between his father and the neighboring king of Firene. Though he adores traveling and the stories and banter with his friends that come with it, his father's impulsive travels to fix their bandit issues have left him as the main person to take care of politics and the "King of Solm'' in every way except in title. Still, when he is able to leave, folks say that his laughter can be heard from all across the desert, described by some as the "Racket of Solm".
He met Jade in one of his rare travels, then Amber in another. Jade is still mostly a writer, but also a keeper of precious things (she has been tasked with safekeeping the Emblem Ring once or twice). Amber loves camels now. He's still as interested in legends, and as clumsy and able to get into trouble as ever, though.
Alcryst: "Desert Shade"
A perceptive, unbelievably friendly young man that, while highly regarded, often has to hide his identity as the second prince of Solm. A comforting presence in the harsh desert, he's always willing to lend an ear to other's issues, but attempting to do the same for him and his own feelings will leave one entirely empty-handed. However, any bandit that has had the misfortune of crossing his path can attest to how quickly that friendly face can drop when danger threatens those around him, especially his family. Constantly roaming the desert with his retainers to both lend a hand to those in need and gathering valuable intel about the entire continent, keeping his homeland safe and preventing threats from setting foot inside their borders. And with his reports come many, many stories and a solid excuse to return home every once in a while and visit with his brother.
Bow Wolf Knight? Bow Wolf Knight. With Daggers, of course.
Citrinne is still his cousin, and nothing in the world could separate them. She doubles as his confidant, and is the most attuned to how he really is under the surface. Lapis was met after a bandit raid on a village near her home, as she helped with the reconstruction efforts with her strength and ability to make stuff out of scraps. Perhaps one day she will discover more about her liege.
Naturally, more could come as Mint, Luna and I decide on the classes of the Royals that still need to be determined, get more details on the retainers that still need exploring, and as we explore another important swap in the AU. Stay tuned!

Fire Emblem Engage Paired Endings
A few concepts for paired endings from Fire Emblem Engage based on supports I wound up with in my playthrough. May do more of these if I have time, lol.
Rising Power Diamant & Snow Queen Ivy After the war, Diamant and Ivy began efforts to end the tension between Brodia and Elusia. These diplomatic meetings grew in frequency, until one day it was announced that they would be uniting the kingdoms under one banner. Their newfound love was so strong, even the most cynical could not deny it, and the country enjoyed many years of peace under their combined rule.
Affable Prince Fogado & Calm Steward Clanne Fogado traveled aimlessly, even after Timerra's coronation. When he eventually landed in Lythos, he was reunited with Clanne, who had grown in strength and maturity over the years since the war, and invited him to join his travels. The two's skills complemented one another perfectly, and tales of their adventures would be passed down in stories and songs for centuries.
Affable Prince Fogado & Hidden Mask Yunaka With Fogado's guidance, Yunaka continued her efforts to let down her guard and learn to trust people. When she eventually made her grand public debut, it was with Fogado as his new bride. It is said that the happy couple's parties would last for weeks at a time, and their lives were filled with joy and laughter.
Affable Prince Fogado & Mighty Flower Lapis After the war, Fogado began regular visits to Lapis's home village. At first, he traveled only to learn more about their bear-scaring efforts, but soon all pretense was dropped and an earnest courtship began. When Fogado asked Lapis's parents permission to marry her, they were shocked to learn he was the prince of Solm.
Little Charmer Hortensia & Calm Steward Clanne
After Hortensia graduated from Elusia's academy, she wrote to Clanne in Lythos. With the Divine Dragon Monarch's blessing, Clanne joined her in Elusia, and they were soon wed. Some Elusian nobles hesitated to accept a former steward of the Divine Dragon, but none could deny Hortensia the support of her biggest fan.
Hidden Mask Yunaka & Mystic Dancer Seadall Seadall and Yunaka started their own theatre troupe shortly after the war ended. They continued to perform well into their old age, eventually being joined onstage by their children, then grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. Their descendants continued to spread the performing arts around the continent for centuries.
Mighty Flower Lapis & Elegant Talent Goldmary Lapis and Goldmary remained in touch through letters after the war. Lapis brought her family to visit Goldmary's parents' inn, and Goldmary brought her family to Brodia to taste Lapis's parents' yams. The two families became close friends, and their bond was seen as a symbol of the newfound peace between Brodia and Elusia.

I hope this letter finds you well | Fogacryst Fic
Fandom: Fire Emblem Engage
Ship: Fogado/Alcryst
Rating: G (unfinished fic - this will probably change later)
Words: 1.827 (ongoing)
Tags: Letters, Post-War, Feelings Realization, Pre-Relationship, Long-Distance Relationship, Suppressed Feelings, Emotionally Repressed, POV Alternating, Rating May Change, Other Additional Tags to Be Added
Summary: Even after the war, Fogado and Alcryst do not find much time to rest. For them, as princes of their home countries, there seems to be no end to their tasks and so the only way to stay in touch is through letters. But as life goes on relentlessly around them, they realize that there are certain things - feelings, fears, desires - that cannot be addressed so easily in a simple exchange of letters.
Preview:
Dear Prince Fogado,
I hope this letter finds you well - and I really cannot believe that it has already been a whole year since the war ended and we had to bid each other farewell!
How have you been doing?
Here in Brodia it felt like time was just flying. The war has caused so much damage to the people. The fields here have never been too fertile, and now that so many young men have fallen, there is a serious shortage of those who can even work them. I have accompanied Diamant on some of his trips across the villages - and you wouldn't believe just how much the sight made my heart ache! The poor widows with their hungry children, the orphans who have nobody left - the war may be over, but times are still dire and there is so much to do. I sincerely wished that I could be more helpful, but you know me. I'm doing my best, but I fear that it won't make a big change.
Luckily, Brodia does not have to rely on somebody like me alone. Diamant is doing such a great job as the new king, I really wish you could see him! He listens to everybody's concerns and does his best to end all the conflicts - I am really proud and grateful to have such a kind, strong and capable big brother!
But here I am, just talking about myself. Please forgive me, dear Fogado, for being insufferable. How is the situation in Solm? How are your lovely mother and your dear sister doing? Are Pandreo and Bunet fine, too? Please tell me everything!
Since I do not wish to take more of your precious time and bore you with my insignificant stories, I am going to finish this letter now. If you find the time to write me a reply, I would be extremely happy. However, I would also absolutely understand if you didn't.
I'm sending you all the best wishes and kindest regards.
Alcryst
***
Fogado carefully placed the letter on the small table next to him while chuckling to himself. It was a bright summer day in Solm and he had just been spending the hot time around noon in his room when the messenger with the letter had arrived. He had recognized the handwriting immediately.
The way Alcryst wrote seemed to be a mirror of his personality. The words were written carefully, in a beautiful handwriting, the letters all small and thin and unobtrusive, making them look just as beautiful and humble as their writer.
And the content of the letter was just as typical, too. It was Brodia here and Diamant there - but what about Alcryst? Had Fogado not been in contact with their other companions from the Divine Dragon’s army, he would have been forced to believe that nothing had been happening in Alcryst’s own life! Not a single word did he write about the research he did on new agricultural methods to improve the food supply situation! Not to mention his trips to the village close to the castle of Brodia where he helped with educating the children! Obviously, nothing had changed about his dear friend's much too humble character.
Anyway, Alcryst was Alcryst, and Fogado was happy to hear that he was fine, as well as proud of the hard work he did. A letter was only a small replacement for meeting his friend in person, but unfortunately, it seemed as if a reunion like this would still have to wait a little longer.

Brodia/Elusia
So Im unhinged and obsessed with Diamant / Ivy from Fire Emblem being together.
These characters are OVERLY designed. Had a seizure and abandoned ship half way. Props and respect to all artist and fanart. Especially o.g. Mika Pikazo.
