Tell Me Everything
⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚✧ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚*
Summary: After a successful first date with Loki, you spill all the details to Wanda and Natasha
Rating: 17+
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol, kissing, insecure Loki and reader
Word Count: 1.6k
a/n: got this idea from a random dialogue generator, had tons of fun writing this one, Loki holds a special place in my heart, love that mans
⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚✧ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚*
"Goodbye, darling," he says; you can't deny this gravitational pull between you and Loki; you tiptoe and delicately kiss him. Loki rests his hands on your waist, drawing gentle circles into the fabric of your dress; when you pull back, you're met with a soft smile.
"Goodnight, Loki," you say happily; you close the door softly; you're on cloud 9; you sigh happily and flop onto your bed, excitedly kicking your legs about; happiness bursts out of you, reminiscing on tonight's events. You stand to change into something more comfortable when you're interrupted by a light knocking on your door.
"Who is that? It's almost 2 am," you ponder, dodging the articles of clothing scattered on the floor; you barely get the door open when Wanda and Natasha barge into the room, throwing a million questions at you before you've even had a chance to say hello.
"How did it go?" Wanda shrieks, dragging you to your bed. She and Natasha sit directly across from you; you feel you're about to be interrogated.
"So well," you practically swoon, a smile creeping across your face; Wanda squeals excitedly, gripping your hands tightly. She and Natasha have been with you throughout this journey, through the mutual pining, the denial, the awkward stage, everything; they know how much this date meant to you and are happy to see you happy, to be with someone who will finally treat you right.
"Tell me everything; I want to know it all," Natasha says excitedly; you laugh; you've never seen them so excited; you cross your legs together and get comfortable, ready for the long night ahead of you.
"Okay, well, he picked me up at 9, and he was wearing this well-fitted black suit, with accents of gold, oh and his hair was slicked back, and I wore this spaghetti strap dark green floor-length corset dress with a high slit, I picked the color on purpose," you giggled wholeheartedly.
You're dressed in a dark green dress with a column silhouette and spaghetti strap neckline, with a corset detail in the midsection, accompanied by a high slit that stops at your hip bone; to compliment the dress, you went with gold earrings and beige block heels tying the whole outfit together perfectly, opting to part your hair directly down the middle; Loki donned a fitted black suit, with a black and gold tie, with a complex pattern, following with a black and gold handkerchief, hair slicked back smoothly, his long hair cascading past his shoulders.
"Where did you guys go?" Wanda questioned, leaning forward, anticipating your response.
"He took us to this lovely restaurant with a live pianist and a beautiful chandelier, and the food was excellent; I got this fantastic tomato basil pasta, and he ordered a steak covered with a mushroom wine sauce."
Hand wrapped around Loki's, you walk into an ethereal interior that could bring a grown man to tears; beautiful white columns line the walls with intricate crown molding of vines and swirls, the whole room white, with flicks of gold everywhere, tables adorned with white clothes, and greenery on every table, complimenting the white and gold perfectly and a gorgeous white and gold crystal chandelier illuminating the entire room, soft piano music filled your ears, completing the whole experience.
"What did you guys talk about?" Natashed pressed, scooting closer, eagerly awaiting your response.
"Well, at first, it was kinda awkward; we talked about how nice the restaurant was," you laughed nervously, scratching your head quizzically, "then we started talking about the moment when we began to develop feelings for each other.”
"I knew when I came down for a glass of water in the middle of the night, and you were helping Sam get back to his room safely after he had drunk too much; I'll admit, I was a little jealous. I wanted you to hold me the way you were holding Sam; I knew that I needed someone who always saw the best in people, a person who could remind me I'm not a terrible person, regardless of how I feel, someone like that deserves to be cherished and worshipped every day of their life " Loki said, looking deeply into your eyes, blush inched from your cheeks to the tips of your ears.
"I knew when I saw you were playing with Morgan and Cassie; I knew that everyone had you all wrong; you weren't the monster everyone made you out to be; I never once believed it for a second; I knew the person you were underneath, a kind, benevolent god, I was and still am determined to help you see it for yourself," you said, gently caressing Loki's hand, running your thumb over his knuckles.
"What did you guys do afterward?" Wanda inquired, eyes flicking between you and Natasha eagerly.
"We went to the beach, watched the waves, and talked about moments when we thought we couldn’t contain how we felt.”
With the cool summer air blowing through your hair, you walked near the shoreline, feeling each grain of sand between your toes and gasping slightly whenever the cold ocean water pricks your skin, small gentle waves kissed the sandy beach, the rhythmic sound of the waves creating a soft hum, heels in one hand, the other hanging onto Loki; luckily, Loki came prepared with a basket of pillows and a blanket to lay on, you both picked a secluded spot and spread the blanket, making yourselves comfortable, you started off laying separately but eventually gave in and embraced into each other, resting your head on Loki’s chest, drawing patterns haphazardly. At the same time, he played with your hair absentmindedly; you sighed contently, watching the gentle waves form soft, undulating hills on the ocean’s surface. “Was there ever a moment when you wanted to confess how you felt about me?” You asked whimsically, resting your chin on his chest, watching him closely.
“A few times, but one in particular sticks out for me: when you came to comfort me when reporters asked offensive questions in an attempt to get a rise out of me, you came and sat with me and told me how the reporters were wrong for asking such questions, and you told me how you could see who I truly was,” Loki reached for your hand, and brought it up to his mouth and kissed it delicately, playing with your fingers. “Then you grabbed my hand and looked at me so lovingly. You have no idea how badly I wanted to kiss you then. It took all my strength not to; I desperately wanted to tell you how I felt, but I had convinced myself that someone as unique as you could never love someone like me,” your eyes slowly filled with tears. You sat up, trying to hide them, Loki caressed your cheek, wiping away your tears, “oh darling, I didn’t mean to upset you; please don’t cry my love,” he said compassionately, you sniffled and nodded slightly “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to cry it’s just, Loki you truly are amazing I hope one day you’ll see yourself as I see you,” you said grabbing his hands and interlacing your fingers tightly.
“I almost told you after the Christmas dinner party, the day was so perfect; I was with everyone that I cared about, and I had a few glasses of wine in me, and you were helping me back to my room; you were holding me so carefully, you were so cautious of where your hands were, most men would’ve taken advantage of the situation but you, you went out of your way to make me feel safe and comfortable, and then when you brought me to my room you made sure I drank plenty of water, you were so caring and concerned for my well being, but the moment I almost caved was when I had finally laid down and was slowly dozing off, you were caressing my hair and humming a lullaby to me, I opened my eyes to look at you one last time and the look in your eyes, took my breath away, I was going to express how I felt, but I had accidentally dozed off before I could say anything,” you smiled to yourself, ruminating in how you felt then.
“Did you guys kiss?” Wanda and Natasha asked simultaneously, laughing at the situation; they smiled at each other.
"Yeah, I kissed him, actually; he walked me to my room and wished me goodnight; there was this alluring look in his eyes that you can't help but fall in love with," your cheeks turning deep, rosy pink.
"Goodnight, darling," Loki whispered, eyes flicking down to your lips and then back to your eyes; you subconsciously lick your lips, Loki's hands resting on your waist, drawing small circles into the fabric of your dress. You wrap your arms around his neck and bury your hands in his hair; he sighs tranquilly, closing his eyes, losing himself. He's putty in your hands, and you don't even know it, your eyes dancing between his eyes and his lips; you both dance around what you want, waiting for someone to move first; you can't wait any longer, nearly a year of pining after each other has lead up to this moment, you pull him down and kiss him tenderly, his lips fitting against yours perfectly, like he was made just for you, he eagerly returns the kiss, pulling you against him tightly, his hands exploring the expanse of your back, memorizing every bump and ridge, you both pull away for air, staring at each other, panting, with smiles painting your faces, Loki glides his hands down your arms, holding your hands softly, you break away, stepping into your room, you close your door, giving Loki one last smile before shutting it completely.
"Ah, so cute! We're so happy for you, Y/N! I'm glad it went so well." Wanda shrieks, yanking you and Natasha into a tight hug; you giggle with them, feeling on top of the world.

Luxe Living Kitchen + Family Room
Tumblr media
Hello friends! At long last, I am ready to publish two playscenes from my Petz 5 makeover project. The Luxe Kitchen and Luxe Living playscenes are now available for download. Be sure to check out my blog post below for a behind-the-scenes look at my creation process.
OVERALL AESTHETIC
In making these overhauls, I was going for a luxury living aesthetic featuring gold accents, neutral beiges, and a touch of rococo. Understandably, this may not be everyone's aesthetic! I have ideas for future themes such as cottage core/witch core, dark academia, Barbie, etc. Now that I have done the ground work of making a reusable PSD template of this playscene, making future variations will be much easier because I can quickly swap out the wallpaper, flooring, rug, etc.
Tumblr media
KITCHEN
I don't have a lot of notes on the kitchen remodel as it was a relatively straight forward recolor. The window backyard backdrop was replaced with my remodeled version. I added a tile backsplash for a touch of realism. Various components like the sink and its handles were recolored to gold to go with the luxury living theme. The ugly curtains, orange floor, wallpaper, and yellow fridge are all replaced with a more toned-down, neutral look.
Tumblr media
I spent the most amount of time cleaning up the curtain and the window sprites as these were poorly done in the original. If you look closely, you can see several pixel defects that never got cleaned up.
BEFORE / AFTER
Tumblr media
FAMILY ROOM
Making over the family room was quite the project as it involved editing several animation sprites. Here are my notes on the different parts of the room.
Tumblr media
RUG
I know that the rug's perspective is not 100% correct but when I tried to adjust it to better match the perspective of the room, the results were actually worse. Somehow, the "correct" perspective ruined the "cozy, intimate" ambience of the room. It's a little hard to explain but I hope this design choice isn't too immersion-breaking for most people.
FIREPLACE
The boring old red brick was replaced with something a bit more contemporary. Where the brick texture meets the golden grate, I had to edit the edge so that there is a mortar gap. I also edited the fireplace sprites to remove some ugly pixel halos that the original assets had.
MOUSE HOLES
I replaced the default mousehole covers with golden doors to match the Luxury Living theme because I thought our little mice friends deserved an upgrade too! Tremendous thanks to Reflet from the Petz Hacking and Modding discord for helping me figure out how to do this. If you're making a non-overwrite hexed family room, then changing the mouse holes requires an extra step in a hex editor - it isn't enough to just swap out the sprites in Tinker. If you would like to learn how to do this yourself for your own playscene creations, Reflet's solution is posted in the Petz Hacking and Modding discord.
Tumblr media
WINDOW + WEATHER EFFECTS
Oh my glob this was a whole project in itself. I swapped out the outdated backyard backdrop with my remodeled versions. But this presented a problem. Replacing the window backdrop meant that I couldn't use the animated rain and snow sprites that came with the original family room. These weather effects were pre-rendered against the old backdrop, making them incompatible with my replacement backdrop. So this meant that I had to craft my own rain and snow effects from scratch, frame by frame. *eye twitch* But if we're being honest, the original weather effects weren't that great looking anyway. The rain is so faint and barely visible and the snow animation left much to be desired.
Tumblr media
Moreover, it always bugged me to no end that the original weather animations do not extend to the bottom of the window. Whenever the window is open, there is a noticeable gap where the rain or snow animation abruptly ends. I'm baffled on how this passed quality control testing (or if was there any).
Tumblr media
I corrected this in my version of the weather animation by adjusting the size of the animation to extend to the bottom of the window and then fixing the X and Y positioning coordinates of all the frames in Tinker so that the animation was seated in the right spot. (I used the selection tool in photoshop to measure that the window sprite needed to be seated 858 pixels along the X axis from the left, and 56 pixels down the y axis from the top). Additionally, the original window has this odd 2-3 pixel gap at the top of the window which I fixed in my version so that the window properly extends up to the curtain rod.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I had to remove the window shine from my window frame recolors. For some reason when you import the images into Tinker, Tinker recolors partial transparency to black and ruins it. If anyone discovers a solution to this problem, please do let me know!
I managed to create the rain animation by using an old video effects software called Particle Illusion. I tweaked a pre-existing rain preset and then recorded my screen using Screen-to-Gif to capture the animation, making sure that the screen capture matched the exact pixel dimensions of the window.
Tumblr media
I extracted the exact number of frames I needed, made it transparent, and created a layer mask on the left side of the canvas to account for curtain, which clips into the window slightly.
Tumblr media
Then I exported these frames as individual pngs and then imported them into Tinker. Thank goodness for photoshop actions and batch editing for performing repeated actions, or else I would have lost my mind.
The snow animation was much more challenging because I couldn't find a good video effect animation I liked - and even if I did, making the animation loop flawlessly would have been nearly impossible. So I hand-made my own using an old school 2D animation technique known as "parallax scrolling". Basically how it works is that I created 3 "conveyor belt" layers of snowflakes, each with a seamless repeating pattern. These three conveyor belt layers would each move independently of each other at a different pace. Conveyor belt 1 would move down slowly at a pace of 1 pixel per frame. Conveyor belt 2 would move down a little faster at a pace of 2 pixels per frame, and conveyor belt 3 would move down the fastest at a rate of 5 pixels per frame. The multiple layers of snowflakes give off the illusion of depth, making it look like some snowflakes are farther away.
Tumblr media
In order for this animation to loop seamlessly, I had to calculate (yes, super serious complex petz math) the dimensions of these conveyor belt layers to correspond with the pace at which they would be falling. If conveyor belt 1 was falling at a rate of 1 pixel per frame, my repeating snowflake pattern needed to be about 30 pixels tall because there were 30 frames. The fastest conveyor belt, conveyor belt 3, had to be a pattern that was 150 pixels tall because it would be moving at a pace of 5 pixels per frame over the course of 30 frames so 30 x 5 = 150 pixels.
Tumblr media
Once I made these three separate patterns I copied and pasted them downward to make the "conveyor belts" that would move down the window over the lifespan of the animation.
Tumblr media
To animate this, I would make a new frame and then I would move layer 1 down 1 pixels, layer 2 down 2 pixels and layer 3 down 5 pixels. Then I created another frame and repeated this again and again until I hit 30 frames. If I messed up anywhere (which I did), I would have to redo the entire animation. It took some experimenting to finally get it all looking correct and looping properly.
Tumblr media
I decided to enhance the snow animation further by addressing a longstanding issue with Petz 5's weather effects. It always bothered me that it could be snowing in the game, yet the scenery remained unchanged to reflect the seasons. To improve this, I overlaid my completed snow animation onto the winter version of my backyard backdrop. Now, whenever it snows in the window, the scenery actually shifts to a wintery backdrop. I mean that would just make sense right? It speaks to the sloppy/rushed development for Petz 5 that they didn't make it this way from the get go. If a solo amateur like myself could do it in one weekend, I don't know why a team of developers couldn't. (If I am allowed to humbly toot my own horn for a moment and say so.)

BEFORE / AFTER
Tumblr media
If you've made it this far, thank you for reading this! I hope this journal proves to be useful and inspiring for future petz content creators who may want to get into custom content creation and retro game modding. It's been such a therapeutic pet project and I'm looking forward to making more playscenes in the future. The next playscenes on the release radar will hopefully be my 4 seasons backyards. I am still finalizing those and hope to release those as soon as life allows. Thank you for patiently waiting, real life is hectic!

I thought of writing this today, as a supposed memory Makishima has after Choe dies. Sorry it's short, I'm not good at writing when I do it on the same day.
PS: it's Shakespeare's sonnet 66.
*****
Tir'd with all these, for restful death I cry,
As, to behold desert a beggar born,
And needy nothing trimm'd in jollity,
And purest faith unhappily forsworn,
And gilded honour shamefully misplac'd,
And maiden virtue rudely strumpeted,
And right perfection wrongfully disgrac'd,
And strength by limping sway disabled,
And art made tongue-tied by authority,
And folly, doctor-like, controlling skill,
And simple truth miscall'd simplicity,
And captive good attending captain ill.
Tir'd with all these, from these would I be gone,
Save that, to die, I leave my love alone.
With one leg crossed over the other, Makishima Shougo closed the book on his slim thigh, covered by a pristine beige suit. He sighed and momentarily raised his eyebrows as he looked out toward the horizon. The wind played with his long white hair, which fell in soft waves over his shoulders, and the last rays of sunlight merged with the gold of his narrowed eyes.
The waves crashed against the stones and walls of the pier as he watched the gentle movement of boats and ships between the floating walkways. The sunlight reflected off the water, creating golden glimmers that danced on the surface. A faint smile crossed his face at the thought of sailing out to sea, but it faded as he remembered his inability to handle boats. He frowned and lifted his head a few centimeters, lamenting not having learned earlier.
In particular, he remembered one morning when he had sailed south without a set destination. The feeling of reaching land never surpassed the desire to venture further into the unknown. The sky was then completely blue, not cloudy as it was now. Standing with his forearms resting on the railing of a small yacht, his slim and pale torso exposed to the sun, Makishima gazed at the line dividing the sky from the sea. His gaze descended to the figure lying on his back in a floating hammock, his slightly tanned skin and short, wet brown hair falling backward.
For hours, he lay in the sun, speaking little. Makishima had long forgotten the words they had exchanged; their shared serenity was their means of communication in the tranquil silence of the sea.
That day, they had both gone for a swim, and Makishima had been the first to emerge, wearing only a pair of shorts, his slender body dripping with water. For a moment, the idea of starting the engine to depart gave him a sense of pleasure and power, making him smile and squint. However, that sensation faded as he realized that nothing and no one could compel him to exert that power. He acknowledged his impotence in the presence of a man whose presence seemed to surpass even the machine that drove the boat.
“You’re killing yourself, Choe,” he said, as the man lifted his round sunglasses to look at him and placed them on his forehead. “For days you’ve been glued to a screen without leaving the room, and here you are, lounging like an undeserving millionaire. How does it feel to do the hardest thing for you, to rest?”
“I’m not fleeing from my work, if that’s what surprises you. I know when to quit, but I don’t do it until I’m finished. I acknowledge I’ve been wasting time lately and doing my job poorly.”
“Have you ever done your job poorly?” Makishima raised an eyebrow for a moment.
“Probably more often than others. The only difference is that my failures end up in the trash.”
“This is what I wanted. To drag you with me and give you everything imaginable, except a computer. No codes, algorithms, or systems. I want to teach you how to eat, sleep, and live like a man who only knows how to laze around.”
“I’d like to try. But you didn’t drag me into anything, nor could you ever, even if you like to think otherwise,” Choe replied, pausing. “It’s not too late for you to learn about boats.”
“That won’t be necessary. I have you.”
Makishima closed his eyes, allowing the sounds of the pier and the sea to envelop him. The sun was slowly sinking into the horizon, painting the sky a deep red. Choe’s presence felt tangible in his mind, as if his shadow were beside him. For a moment, he could almost imagine Choe approaching from a walkway, calling his name and guiding him toward a boat.
He considered the possibility of setting sail once more. A simple snap of his fingers would make someone start the engine for him. But that idea soon faded; he no longer felt the same urge. He reflected on the essence of companionship and solitude. It wasn’t about seeking to be guided or finding a captain in others. He had always rejected that need and would eradicate any attempts at imposition. True friendship does not seek to control or guide.
The boats and the sea, which once offered him solace, now only accentuated his boredom. He understood that the solitude and peace he sought did not reside in the places he traveled to but in something deeper and personal he had left behind. He knew he would give his life to experience that feeling again, though he understood he could never return to it. It was like the world seen only once in childhood, when everything is new and wonderful, and the rest is just an echo of memories. The scent of cherry blossoms is yearned for, but it no longer satisfies like it did the previous summer.
