Feeding: Cyphastrea will readily accept most meat based foods that it can grab with its tentacles. Lighting: Low light would be overstating the dim conditions cyphastrea is capable of thriving in. Some specimens may even be seen growing on the underside of rocks as they creep up toward the light. Waterflow: Cyphastrea may be grown under a wide range of flow conditions as long as there is enough to keep its flesh free of detritus and other debris. They are easy to care for, come in a huge range of color varieties and grow quickly under most conditions. Feeding: All species have the ability to capture prey, but that ability will vary from species to species. They can also capture nutrients directly from the water, so may prefer a slightly dirtier aquarium. Lighting (Level 2 to 8): Mushrooms and ricordia can adapt to almost any type of lighting though they are usually happier and have better color under lower light levels. They are usually very tolerant to most conditions, cheap and easily found. Feeding: Most of these corals have very well adapted feeder tentacles that can capture small particles. Many also have the ability to absorb nutrients directly from the water. Lighting (Level 2 to 8): Leather corals can be adapted to almost any lighting though faster growth will be seen under higher lighting conditions. Water flow: They will also adapt to almost any flow conditions, but moderate to high flow is best to keep the surface clean. Placement: Leathers have strong toxins that can be deadly to stony corals. It’s best to keep them in separate tanks, but keeping leathers downstream from stony coral may also be possible. Be sure to keep adequate amounts of carbon in the system when keeping both.
