The good news is that aprons are, by and large, remarkably easy to sew - and you can hand sew an apron (even with limited sewing skills) pretty quickly. I really hate when experienced sewists advise people who have never used a sewing machine and clearly don't have friends/family who sew to buy a used machine because older machines are better made and cheaper. It can be true! It can be very true! But like, if you don't even know the basics of using a sewing machine you are not going to be able to judge whether a used machine at the thrift store or on facebook market place is a good deal or even if its properly functional.

Yes modern machines are not as long lasting but someone who is a complete novice at sewing is going to have a better time with a machine that is 100% complete, comes with all required accessories and doesn't need to be serviced. Yes a decent beginner sewing machine costs somewhere between $100 and $150 but if that beginner actually uses it regularly it's a better deal than a $50 machine that sits in your house unused because it's missing some small component or has shitty tension and the new sewer doesn't realize the problem is the machine and not them.

It just doesn't look good... like I wanted it to. I know where I could go from here, but, I'm still figuring it out.

It wasn't perfect. I didn't know how to end it until I was doing the panties. I did the bra first. Learning how the ribbons had to be moved and placed to have the right position was great. And it helped me get over my fears of going too small.

But, the ribbon ended up flaring out at the ends. Buts started coming off at the panties. I understand the shaping and the curves better now. And I know what makes a bra feel supportive! This'll be super helpful for whatever project comes next! 🤩

But, it also got very old, very fast. Informative, but I did want to throw it at a wall at many times. Stopping it now so I don't get to that. But I'm glad I did it! This endeavour was worth it.

Don't know where I'll go next? Maybe I'll make a moodboard, and look for more inspiration. I could do with learning some more sewing tips. Watching people make and draw custom dolls is inspiring, and I haven't even touched my sketch pad yet. I need to sort out our storage more...
