Before Deluca -- modern travel

The train. We had ridden a few rickety things of steel and coal before, which Lucient despised but I found quite enjoyable. In a jiggle about and earn some bruises sort of way—we hadn’t visited an amusement park, as all we knew of were in places we were avoiding, but I would compare those trains to a roller coaster.

This was not that.

Constructs had made great strides over the last half century or so. No longer mere animal replacement pulling a carriage, they were the carriage. Or ‘auto’, as many became known. The train itself was animal too. A marvelous behemoth of molded brass, clockwork and magic. Gliding as a great whale over wave-shaped rails—a blue whale, if you are curious, there were other styles to come but that one was a majestic blue in style and trim.

Nathaly wasn't wrong about the rails, however. Silver and steel, carved with sigils as the train itself. It itched on approach, and burned as we waited for the mighty metal maw to peel back and welcome us inside.

Payment, yes. We had exchanged our currency over and over, keeping the bulk of our growing fortunes in banks spread about, but that thing took no money or asked no ticket. As we had learned all sigils took, the train devoured what rode it. What used it.

Bit by bit it supped energy, heat, life.

Which we had, of course. As Lucient frequently reminded in our early years; we were not dead, but unchanging in a way life was not meant to be. All our ship's sigils took from us as that train took from us—explaining, in hindsight, why our appetites grew with those added.

Insignificant the amount, nonlethal and unnoticed, but suspicious in its lack of cost. Suspicious to eyes more accustomed to the glow of magic. The nuance of its flux. Unrestrained, those sigils, not capped as modern ones are.

And decadence? They name is magic.

Every car was a stately manor. No one would want on that ride for all that could spoil was protected by sigils. All water poured from magic wells. Every single one supping deep and constant of its passengers as they do to this day, in lesser amounts for hard-won regulations—you're welcome.

yesterday right before we were going to leave i asked my boss if he wanted me to pull the charts for thursday and he said "no that will be my day off project" in the kind of tone that indicated he was subclinically annoyed at me for not getting literally everything (single coworker was out sick) done sooner and what i said was "ok" but what i was thinking was cool maybe your other day off project can be thinking about actually helping with things like the stupid complicated bills you made me do or writing clinic notes that i'm not confident doing. or generally doing things besides surgeries and sitting there scrolling facebook and craigslist.

the actual ceo of the whole damn site stalking a trans woman onto other platforms to continue to harass her and be transmisogynistic and then sharing her personal information without consent........... what the fuck is going on. ik there were some memes abt the car hammer thing but this is genuinely disturbing now knowing that if you have a disagreement with the ceo he thinks it's fine to just violate your privacy like that. and doing it to a transfem who has already been facing harassment from other sources as well........... does this dude have any sense of ethics. like at all. this kind of behaviour has gotta be breaking some kind of law. anyways my instagram page (same username as here) is basically my only other active social media and i may consider looking into some of the other sites around or making a neocities because i'm not sure if i wanna keep using this site after this. i probably will bc i have a lot of cool mutuals here but like...... just in case

‘Never really has opinions’?? Did you not follow his Twitter prior to him deactivating? 😂 He’s very opinionated especially when it comes to real world issues. Maybe you haven’t seen enough interviews of his but he certainly isn’t a guy who is indifferent to everything.

I have a question though, have you ever seen a movie of his? I remember you saying you haven’t seen a marvel movie and that you didn’t properly watch Red Sea Diving Resort so have you seen anything besides that?
