Dragon Ball x Epic the Musical Cast

So I decided to combine two of my obsessions with Dragon Ball and Epic the Musical. For those who don't know, Epic is a musical version the Greek story, The Odyssey. You can listen to the playlist HERE.

What's your opinion on religious influences in Dragon Ball?

There is a lot of Judeo-Christian imagery (white dove, Upa scaring Devilman with a cross, Goku as a Moses-type figure, etc.) I don't like it when Seventh-Day Adventist fearmongers like Little Light Studios call Goku a Lucifer-type figure.

Beerus and Heles look like Egyptian gods

Dragon Ball is a mix of different religions †☪︎✡☯☸ૐ⛩️🀀𓋹⚛

I'm not gonna talk about Journey to the West since everyone knows that Dragon Ball was influenced by that story.

Ki comes from Eastern religions. A comparison to make is the Jewish concept of ruach tamah, described by rabbis as similar to ki and as the source as Samson's power

Judeo-Christian imagery. Super Saiyan is similar to the glowing state of Stephen (my interpretation, I'm Christian btw). Goku is a "SON UNDER THE SUN". Goku is also a Moses-type figure, like Superman. A white dove also appears aside of Android 16. That's the symbol of the Holy Spirit. Upa also scares Devilman with a cross. Magic users (with the exception of Baba) are all evil. Baphomet-like demons are always the villains. Goku's values are also Judeo-Christian/Islamic. Dragon Ball has a god hierarchy like Marvel, but Zalama who is above all, just like the One Above All in Marvel, has a similarity to Yahweh of Judaism and Christianity or more like Aether of the Hypsistarian cult.

The Kais relate to the Buddhist Heavenly Kings and Hindu deities. Beerus and Heles take inspiration from Egyptian paganism.

champa - not to get sappy but anything with a vados. banter, serious, silly, anything. they're my otp and i would never insist on shipping, but it would be nice to have a vados to interact with someday that actually stays around. i do get she's a challenge to write, though!

vados - her being demoted or losing her angelic abilites. or her training hit! i've always considered hit to be champa's #1 candidate.

pomme - meeting her uncle beerus. in her verse, champa is very big on not talking to or bringing up beerus (think encanto's we don't talk about bruno but WORSE because people get dusted). her sneaking out and making her way to find him. but she can't bring herself to tell him who she is out of fear of all the stories her "father" has put in her head. plus, uncle whis? the best uncle. she would also be starstruck by hit and how cool he is!

Imagine that several gods of destruction, led by Beerus, got angry at you, thinking that you did not stop Daishinkan and Zeno the Tournament and grumbled at you while the angels looked at them disapprovingly and tried to stop them.

You look at everyone with the gaze of a dead fish, tired of accusations, turn your gaze to Daishinkan and Zeno discussing something on their platform and hiss "a little more and the Tournament of Power will be the Hunger Games" and the angels to whom you once showed the movie giggle while Team 7 visibly shudders. The rest of the universes don't understand what you're talking about

Just threatening the universes in your own way but they don’t understand which slowly makes them dislike you. I feel like Heles would dislike you saying that you aren’t beautiful or something like that.

Bragi has some Fucking Opinions (TM) about his coworkers. Some are stronger than others.

U1

Anat: Bragi really looks up to Anat. He wants to BE Anat. He's so perfect and handsome and good at his job and he wants some of that to rub off on him so bad. The only downside is that he thinks the guy is extremely boring.

Iwan: He finds Iwan really hard to read, but he respects his work.

Awamo: He seems pretty respectable, but he's never gotten to really talk to him.

Pell: Loud old man. Bragi finds him incredibly annoying. He's even more annoying when he and Heles really get going.

Heles: He thinks she has good taste, and they'd probably actually get along fairly well if given the chance. He can only handle her in small doses though, especially with Pell.

Sour: Bragi finds him weirdly serious by comparison. He sort of wishes he'd reign the other two in a little more.

U3

Eyre: Bragi is too much of a normie by comparison to understand him. Finds him to be a bit of a little sanctimonious know-it-all. Pot, meet kettle.

Mule: Very big (as Mosco). Very unreadable. The idea of trying to talk to him stresses him out a bit.

Camparri: Bragi's not too sure what he's actually like, considering he spends most of the time translating for Mosco.

U4

The vibes are just off all around. Very shady. He hates that they're next to each other in the order and is both mentally and literally scooting away at any given opportunity.

U5 (He's from here!!!)

Ogma: Made a whole post about them here. He respects her quite a lot.

Arack: Definitely not someone he feels comfortable approaching too casually, but he thinks he's really smart and good at what he does.

Cukatail: He likes Cukatail well enough. Bragi was initially pretty intimidated by them at first, but isn't anymore. The two get along fairly well.

U6

Fuwa: Bragi's not sure what's worse, when Fuwa isn't fired up, or when he is. When he's not, he's annoyingly absent-minded, and when he is, he's annoyingly loud. Not a fan.

Champa: These two would get along so well if they weren't both so fussy. As it stands, Bragi finds him incredibly immature and annoying, even if he respects the man's taste in beverages.

Vados: Out of all the angels, he finds her to be the most terrifying. Having seen her interact with Champa, he knows she could playfully roast him into oblivion without batting an eye. He does not want to give her a reason.

U7

Shin: Any time Bragi finds something in U7 he doesn't like, he lowkey wants to shake Shin like "WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS EXIST," but he also understands that the guy is incompletely trained, and he's become a little more sympathetic to that.

Old Kai: EXPLODING HIM WITH HIS MIND

Kibito: Way too scary to approach. He's so BIG. And FROWNY. No way.

Beerus: Bragi does not respect this man. Fears him, certainly, but does not respect him. Lazy, arrogant, irresponsible. Not a fan.

Whis: Lowkey wants to go on a culinary adventure with him someday, but he knows that would mean bringing Beerus along. He'll just keep those dreams in his head for now.

U8

Iru: Respects his work, but finds him way too silly, in that sort of "grandpa pretends to believe you're still in kindergarten as a joke" kind of way. Being from a paired universe, Bragi's had the most interaction with him out of any of the other Kais outside his universe.

Liquiir: Not a bad guy! At the very least, he can appreciate how well he and Iru work together.

Korn: A bit too haughty for his liking, but he can't complain too much, given how well that Universe runs.

U9

Roh: Another loud old man. He hates him most out of all his fellow kais, but he plays nice when going to see his friend Veroa. (In a shitpost AU he's literally Bragi's dad, we joked that Roh's how he'd turn out if he never got his shit together lmao)

Sidra: Bragi pities this man. He'd be much better off as a Kai, probably. At the very least, not a God of Destruction. It's genuine pity though, not like, derogatory pity. Though maybe a little derogatory.

Mojito: Bragi pities him the most. He's clearly got his work cut out for him, and every time he sees him, he just mentally goes, "I sure am glad I'm not working there."

Gowasu: He feels bad for Gowasu. Bragi thinks he's a bit incompetent as a teacher, but seems like an otherwise decent person. They'd probably get along pretty well, actually, talking over GodTube and tea.

Zamasu: Used to absolutely idolize the guy. Zamasu did nothing wrong and all that. But now he thinks hating mortals is cringe. Stop being cringe, Zamasu. If he ever tried to redeem himself though, Bragi would be very sympathetic because oof he can relate lmao

Rumsshi: TOO LOUD. Too brash. Too obnoxious. Way too scared to ever tell him that. 0/10.

Cus: Seems fun! He definitely feels like she's way too cool to hang out with him, though.

U11

Khai: Thinks he's kind of mean and it makes him really uncomfortable. Khai feels like a Popular Mean Girl to him.

Belmod: Nope. Nope. Nope nope nope nope. Sure, the guy has very strong and respectable morals, but he carries an aura that Bragi finds highkey unsettling.

Marcarita: Not as intimidating as Vados. but he gets a similar feeling that she could tease him pretty intensely if she wanted.

Agu: Seems nice enough. He hasn't had to deal with him too much, but he clearly does good work.

Giin: Seems like a nice guy overall, Bragi respects his cleverness.

Martinu: Seems like she'd be fairly approachable, but he's not too sure because he hasn't had the opportunity.

Zeno: Absolutely fucking terrified beyond words. He's never actually gotten to see Zeno in person, though. He's generally not important enough for that. Were there not this huge power dynamic tho they'd probably get along well, kids like Bragi lmao

LORE Dump: Things that are canon in the “Bride of the Destroyer” AU that aren’t in the Dragon Ball series

Note: This is gonna be a long one! Also, this isn't going to be in order. It's written down from what I remember and what's in the actual story so far. Some of the things mentioned here haven't been put in the story just yet, so please keep in mind that some things may change in the future.

Beerus is married (the most obvious one) and has step kids with my oc, Brier.

Deities are capable of summoning creatures known as "daemons" as Familiars to help aide in their duties via a legally binding contract. The only known groups of deities who are known to practice this are the twelve Titan families from Brier's planet, Gardenia, hers included. This is typically done through a summoning ceremony.

Beerus has father-in-law issues with Arum, the Titan King, head of the Plantae family, and one of Brier's fathers. His relationship with Arum's husband and Brier's stepfather, Typhon II, is rather decent in comparison.

According to Whis, Beerus has once claimed that his wife Brier's beauty puts Heles, his fellow G.O.D., to shame.

Goku likes reading Spider-Man comics after his son Goten introduced them to him. Meanwhile, Vegeta enjoys the Invincible comics: Trunks was not the one to introduce him to it since he's a bit too young to read the comics and watch the show.

Vegeta secretly listens to Lady Gaga when working out.

Android #17 is married to Elena Corazón: an original character that is used for other fandoms such as the Spider-Verse trilogy and Delicious in Dungeon.

Vegeta's mother's name is Eschalot, which is what he wanted to name Bulla when she was born as a way to honor his mother: this obviously didn't go the way he planned, so he and Bulma compromised on making it their daughter's middle name.

Piccolo likes drinking fruit infused water that is served at parties.

Frieza is bisexual and/or polyamorous. He also starts a situationship with Montsechia (Monty), who is another antagonist for the Bride of the Destroyer AU.

Bulma made Vegeta, Goku, and Chi-Chi watch the Twilight films for a date night once: Goku and Chi-Chi thought the films were ok while Vegeta thought they were stupid.

Beerus has terrible and ineligible penmanship.

Vegeta often tells Goku about Saiyan culture after training.

The Grand Priest is married: his wife, Rosanna, is an OC that belongs to @aisururozu.

Whis is pansexual.

Cooler is part of this AU.

Kuriza will be part of the story in the near future.

Goku often brings Chi-Chi little souvenirs from his adventures: he once brought her a bouquet of rare flowers that she keeps in vase.

Piccolo will date Pan's teacher Janet in the future. He is also asexual and demiromantic.

According to Arum, he has a tattoo somewhere on his body. But whenever someone tries to ask him about it, he simply tells them that simply even knowing of the tattoo’s existence is more than enough for them to know.
