16 Beer Experts You Should Be Following on Instagram

With collaborations popping up throughout the pandemic, and exciting new beer trends always on the radar of beer experts, itâs safe to say that beer has maintained its relevance during the ongoing pandemic.

With Covid-19 constantly changing the world of craft beer and beyond, it often feels difficult to keep up with all that is new and noteworthy in beer. But not to fear: There is an ever-expanding network of beer lovers and educators online who are keeping their followers in the know. From brewers, to writers, to travelers and photographers, these beer experts are the ones to keep your eyes on. (And yes, as it turns out, several are VinePair contributors.)

Mandy Naglich

New York-based Mandy Naglich, otherwise known as @beerswithmandy, is a homebrewer, BJCP-certified taster, and certified Cicerone. She is also the brains behind VinePairâs homebrew column BIY â Brew It Yourself, in which she educates readers about everything from adding fruit infusions to beer, to homebrewing hard seltzer. On her Instagram feed, she shares some of her best new finds, homebrewing feats, and more.

London-based Lily Waite (@lilywaite_) is a beer writer and photographer whose work has appeared in Good Beer Hunting, Pellicle, and, of course, VinePair. She is also the founder of the Queer Brewing Project, a non-profit that raises money and awareness for LGBTQ+ philanthropies. The project has set up a variety of collaboration projects with breweries to raise awareness about queer issues in the beer industry. On its Instagram feed @queerbrewingproject, the non-profit showcases some of the aforementioned beers (adorned with fun labels) and more.

Scrubbing through some old photos from the summer and came across this tasty @cloudwaterbrew IPA. I was drinking these regularly during those seemingly endless days. They come in at less than 7%, which is okay in my book, more of that please. I miss those beers, but think I miss the sun more. I want to share some things with yâall, but first I want to remind you that DIVERSITY DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY ENCOMPASS INCLUSION AND EQUITY. (Sorry not sorry for yelling.)â â Diversity is the variations of different characteristics in a group of people- race, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender, religion, + more. It is not enough to have a diverse staff. It means nothing if your employees do not feel safe, welcome, equally respected, and heard. â â Recently a lot of consumers have become more interested in supporting diversely owned brands. On the other hand, people are starting to wonder which companies are *actually* inclusive. If you are truly curious about these things but donât know where to start, the first thing you can do is LISTEN. Do not promise to stop supporting a business or an individual, then make excuses when you are informed of inexcusable behavior. You are not an ally. â The next thing you can do is READ + PAY ATTENTION. Step outside of your bubble and be aware of whatâs going on around you. There are plenty of resources out there to keep yourself informed- make an effort to be informed.â â *Please keep in mind that in certain cases it may be the act of one or two bad employees. It is how the company confronts and handles the situation that is important to take note of. â We all fuck up. Personally, I believe itâs important to admit your mistake, genuinely apologize, and make a *real* effort to change the company culture and do BETTER.â â Check my stories for examples of how you can stay informed on the topics of DEI + breweries.

Cats who like a drink on Instagram

Instagram opens us up to whole new world beyond our own. And part of that world involves cats who like a tipple now and again.

We've rounded up 5 accounts that bring together everyone's favourite YouTube stars, aka Cats, and everyone's favourite thing to do while they watch said cats aka drinking.

1. @Cats.and.cocktails

This account really has it all in the name. It is dedicated to the cocktail making capers of Cinder and Calvin, the night sidekicks of mixologist Ryan Musselman. The account is predominantly made up of Cinder and Calvin with a foreground of ingredients to make some impressive cocktails. Each one is very exciting and will definitely have you turning into an amateur mixologist. This is definitely the perfect Instagram for anyone who loves cats and cocktails. Ryan even features guest cats every now and again so keep your eyes peeled!

Cats. Beer. What more could you ask for? This account explores the joys of both these things together. From cats who live in breweries to cats who just like the odd cold one now and again, this is a full and detailed exploration into the life of cats who like beer. There are also every different type of breed of cat, which to me simply means a ginger one, a grey one, a black one and the odd calico, other than that I am definitely no cat expert! This is definitely worth a look for the adorable-ness if nothing else.

3. @distillerycats

Ah the life of a distillery cat is a charmed one. And it is the life that most Whisky enthusiasts could only dream of. The chance to live in an actual distillery, spending your days lazily hanging around all the machinery and enjoy the odd dram (obviously for the cats this only happens when someone drops theirs). Distillery Cats brings together photos of these marvellous moggies and lets you see what they are all getting up to, cue maximum jealous and plenty of “awwwws” along the way.

As well as getting to follow an exciting craft distillery, following Corsairs on Instagram means you get to follow the various cats that hang around the distillery. These include Copper and Pizza Cat, who are so on point with theirInstagram game they will put all your selfies to shame. They literally look good in every photo. And they get to live in a distillery. Some cats just have it all! Corsairs itself is the brain child of Derek Bell and Andrew Webber and they make some interesting products, including Quinoa Whisky and Artisan Gin.
