I got to see another production this spring and I was LIVING!!! Turned out one of my friends/coworkers was helping produce it & he gave me one of his saved tickets (show was free so it was just a guaranteed seat on the night I wanted). Super fun cast, absolutely stunning job (shout out to their Mitch who was pulling double duty as the music director!! holy shit I can’t imagine the practice that took to work out), and i did end up a guest speller again! I got out on gaslight… they literally gaslit me out 😔

..Ok I wasn't sure whether or not to send this to you buuuut since you're reading it, that means I did it! First of all, I want to say that I *adore* your work, I think half of all AUs I follow might be yours and everything you draw is just sssoooo soft and pretty and aaaaa. Second (and the thing I was anxious about sending)... I have a (vague) idea for a Sanders Sides AU I just came up with and already got attached to. Problem is, I'm.. not all that involved in the fandom nor do I have (1/2)

enough of a plot in mind to write it as a full-blown fanfic. The next thing that came to mind was an askblog, which would probably work best but I’m scared nobody will notice it/send in questions/I won’t be able to maintain it for longer than a week or so/I’ll get too caught up in trying to make art for it I’ll barely post anything. Main point of my question is.. Do you maybe have any advice to spare? Sorry this got so long and rambly ^^“ Thanks for reading this far! (2/2)

First things first, Congrats on being brave enough to send the message! (and glad you enojy my work!)

As for your askblog idea, I’ve certainly got some suggestions to spare! My first being, have fun with it! Explore your idea, know your limits, do your best and you’ll probably be ok!

I’d certainly suggest giving yourself a back-log of little one-shots/doodles/ect if you’re scared of not posting often or regularly. You can make it your safeguard.

Maintenance, is a bit more iffy, and really depends on what’s going on in your life, (I’m terrible at maintaining things) But, I’d say feel free to answer questions via text when you can/appropriate, take advantage of the queue, (I found out that you can press the alt/option key (on mac at least) on an ask and you can save it to the queue/drafts, which has become a lifesaver) and maybe keep to a simpler style for asks, especially if you get a lot.

For getting people to ask questions~

First, make your initial post. This can take a LOT of forms and shapes, but, the key point is that it needs to introduce your main characters, their current relationships, the setting, and your key plot motivator (ie: daydream au, I had Roman (initially just implied) running away, and subsequently meeting, and reacting to meeting, Patton, Logan, and Virgil (and them reacting to him in return)) With that:

A: don’t give them all the answers! (Should be obvious but I can’t believe how often I see people just giving away everything.) You should leave your readership with enough information that they know what’s going on, but just enough left out that they’re like, ‘hey! what about this!!!?’

B: give your askers a place in the story. Either literally or figuratively. You’ve gotta have your characters interact w/ the askers somehow, give them some staying power.

C: Give your askers information about the characters that they don’t know about each other/their situation! it’ll engage your readers and make them go ‘hey hey hey wait, we’ve gotta help them figure this out!!’

D: let your characters lie to the askers! Let them exaggerate! Let them disagree and interact! (just make sure that you portray it as them actually doing so. if a character isn’t prone to lying, make the character nervous about it. If a character IS prone to lying, and is good at it, make sure the reader knows it, and maybe have the characters who know better call them out.)

In the end, you should be guiding your askers to the key plot points, and your askers will guide you in return. And, if you’re stuck or don’t have many asks in the askbox, post a comic or fic or something to get the ball rolling again!

Now, for the whole noticing thing:

A: tagging, use the tags for everything that applies. The key ones for a sanders sides au would be: [au name: ie Daydream AU], Sanders Sides and/or Sanders Sides au, [Character(s) involved in post/ask: ie Patton Sanders], [particular character traits important to au/post/ask: ie Unicorn!Patton, Shapeshifter!Patton, ext (I… don’t think the ‘!’ is super important anymore, but it’s a habit for me)], TS Art and/or Sanders Sides Art, [type of au (if applicable): ie Fantasy AU], [your personal art tag: ie Fanart’s fanart], [trigger/squick warnings if applicable], [other story-specific tags: ie hurt/comfort, angst, fluff, ect.]

put your most important tags in the first 5-ish tags. Do Not tag Every character unless they’re all there. Also, if you’ve got Deceit as a character (even if he’s a minor character), there’s been a Sympathetic Deceit, Villain Deceit, and Manipulative Deceit tag set-up, so I suggest using those as well as applicable (and, tbh, I’d say use the villain/manipulative thing for any of them if you happen to have that)

Then, some people also have tags for the askers, (I personally just have a ‘answered asks’ tag ((that I often forget))

B: if you think you can maintain it, I suggest using a tag-list and/or a master-post ((the master-post got hard for me to maintain personally, but it was helpful in the begining)) The taglist will notify people when you update, and will keep them coming back! the master-post will help people navigate the story, and will introduce newbies pretty nicely. However!! you can also use a chronological link if you’re using a blog purely for the au! this is the set up:

Linking in bio just type in:Insert Link Here”> insert whatever you want the link to read as here .

into the description. (note, you MUST have the quotes around your link)

(you can’t copy-paste into descriptions (which is plain annoying), and spaces will have “%20″ instead of a space and if you put it as a link in your description it won’t work, which is something I learned the hard way.)

C: self-reblog. Reblog back to your main/most popular blog, do time-zone reblogs, do night/morning reblogs, whatever, just get yourself out there.

…. I also touched on this subject a while ago too (tho less in-depth cause I wasn’t on my computer), and that’d likely be tagged as ‘ask blog’ or ‘advice’ so idk, maybe look at that too, I might’ve missed something here that I touched on there.

BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN AAAAA I LOVE FICS WHERE I OR MY BLOG IS MENTIONED!! SO MUCH!!***Matthew was crying again. He'd been doing that on and off for the past week since everything fell to pieces, and nothing seemed to help him. His latest theory had once again turned him into the joke of the Internet, this time on an impossibly larger scale, and he was receiving constant abuse with almost every comment on his videos. To make matters worse, he was scheduled to make an appearance at a convention the very same week it happened, and several people thought it would be funny to start throwing food at him! A long bubble bath had done nothing to remove the stains now marring his self-confidence, and now here he was, crying in bed into his Peepachu toy, the last safe thing he had left in his life... He barely heard the knocking on the front door, and even when he did, it took all his strength to drag himself over to open it - but he was glad he managed it. His good friend Mark was standing there, looking extremely worried about him. "Oh, h-hey Mark. What's up?" Mat mumbled, trying not to sound as exhausted as he felt and failing miserably. "I saw what happened at the con today, and I wanted to see how you were doing, I had no idea it'd gotten this bad..." Mark didn't say much on the journey back, somehow understanding that Mat wasn't up to casual chit-chat right now. Mat spent not only the car ride there, but the next few days in forlorn silence, simply biting at his thumbnail to try and soothe himself - having his thumb up at his mouth was oddly comforting, but he didn't have the energy to think about why right now. The only thing he could bring himself to do was dig through the Internet and try to find something, anything, positive that had been said about him - a difficult and nearly fruitless search. How could so many people suddenly hate him all at once? He even resorted to digging through the more explicit fanart that he usually avoided, desperate to find anyone who had even a scrap of fondness left for him... That was how he stumbled upon the odd picture. He'd never tried to brave a kink blog before, but his online wanderings had brought him to one that day, and he was feeling so low that he didn't think it could get much worse. The blog had only mentioned him a few admittedly, that had felt nice. But he started to imagine himself in the picture, being small and cared for, having someone help him whenever things felt too hard. If he closed his eyes, he could picture himself perched on the soft plastic, knees tucked up to his chest, a voice that sounded just like Mark's telling him what a good boy he was... "Mat? What are you doing?" Wait, that WAS Mark's voice! Mat squeaked in shock and opened his eyes quickly, dropping his phone from the fright. Mark bent down to pick it up before Mat had the chance, and saw what he was looking at. "Oh boy, you found THAT blog..." He chuckled. "Yeah, I've seen it too, it's got some pretty unusual stuff..." "Do you... Think it's weird?" Mat whispered, heart suddenly pounding in fear. If Mark realised he liked one of the pictures and decided he was too weird... "Not really, I kinda like it - I'm not into everything, but the stuff about me taking care of some of my friends... It's kinda nice, I sorta like the idea of taking care of a little, I guess... Sorry, I know that's probably too much information. What about you?" Mark asked quickly, now blushing slightly. Mat found he suddenly didn't have words, so instead just showed Mark the 'potty picture' as he called it, once again lifting his thumb to his mouth. Mark looked confused for a moment, but then his eyes lit up in delight, and he smiled at Mat in a way he usually reserved for his younger fans. "Do you wanna try and use the potty, Matty?" Mark's voice was soft and playful, and a little more condescending than usual, as though he wasn't sure whether he should make this a joke or take it seriously. Personally, Matty wanted him to talk like that forever! Without thinking, he began to respond to the question with a shake of his head, but then Mark brushed a hand across his tummy and he realised he maybe possibly hadn't gone pee in quite a while, and he quickly switched to a nod. Mark smiled even bigger at that, and quickly pulled him to his feet, leading him into the bathroom then stopping at the door. "OK Matty, how do you wanna do this?" He asked carefully. Matty looked at him in confusion and opened his mouth to ask what he meant, but his eye suddenly caught the little training potty sitting on the floor next to the big potty, almost the same as the one in the potty picture! Mark was explaining something about a new skit video about childproofing his house, but Matty wasn't really listening

1. Are you self taught or are you taking classes?

Self taught so far! And soon if I manage to pass a contest, I’ll have classes! :D

2. How long have you been drawing?

That’s a tough one... I had a moment as a kid where I would draw a lot, then it vanished.... Until I went into gaming, giving me the will to draw some self-insert stuff when I was around 11- bad art ensued until today where it’s finally looking somewhat decent!

3. Do you consider yourself as a good artist?

I wouldn’t say a “good” artist since I had been self taught and I’m pretty sure I’m doing a lot of stuff in incorrect ways... Not to say I don’t master all the different material techniques (still need to work on watercolours before my contest!! aaaaa!).

But I’d say that I improved a lot, so far I’m mostly trying to move my ass to draw backgrounds, to get out of my confort zone and especially to get out of the “same face syndrom”... First of all by starting to draw men better!

4. What annoys you the most about being an artist?

Perfectionism. It’s a good motivation fuel, but it can fuck you up a lot, especially when your ability to criticize your art gets better than your ability to draw itself... Causing a lot of art blocks!

Aaand the fact we’re not taken seriously as artists sometimes. Not only in the way they are paid, but the general feeling we give... “Lol, art is easy, you just draw!” .... Very well, take a pencil, and draw me, I’ll wait, Da Vinci. :/

Oh, the typical “you can’t get a real job!!” bullshit too. That made me loose.... 6 years of my life going into something that wasn’t fitting me. Joy!

5. What do you draw the most?

Mostly fanart (*cough* villains *cough*) and OCs, but now I’m working also on commissions! Should work on personnal stuff when I get more inspired!

25 and still kicking! Only figuring my path as a student right now... Joy ‘|D

7. Has someone said you were bad?

Only because of what I was drawing (blame it on cringe culture, as a teen I loved to draw myself with my 3 fave villains and... It wasn’t taken quite well by some people oops), never got a comment concerning my art itself... But to be honest it was so bad and I bless my 15-18′s fucking innocence for posting what I was posting on the world wide web back then. c’:

8. Who inspired you?

A lot of friends, music and mostly videogames! Naming everything would take me forever... But if you know more and you draw it’s more likely I see you as an inspiration.. And every game/music I play are even more likely to inspire me, too!

But at first tbh the one who really got me back into drawing was @haruka-tavares to be honest...

9. What do you feel about ____’s work?

You didn’t specify anyone BUT honestly, as I said, art from my friends/other people inspire me A LOT and, honestly, art is so wide and diverse that you can’t really say there’s a unique way to draw.... Anyone I got related to as an artist has got fantastic artwork, or incredible universes/OCs! Keep it up everyone! :D

10. How did you came up with such a pen name like yours?

Clara Knight = Claire + Meta Knight (lmao)

Miss Tic Tac = the fact I like everything linked to time + nickname of my OC

Since you don’t seem to want a polite and civil exchange of opinions on this, and are actually being incredibly rude here (whether you meant for it or not, I don’t know) I hope you won’t mind me keeping this as short as I can. All Might worked in the beginning of the bnha manga as a textbook definition of a deus ex machina, came around, solved an otherwise unsolvable plot point out of the blue bending the laws that had just been established for that universe, and Deku literally (literally) didn’t have to go through any conscious trial, soul-search or any other self-aware journey with the intention of fixing his own problem. All he did was to be heroic and to be quirkless, which for him are circumstances since those are innate traits of his character. And the only singular thing he has is that he’s quirkless, his heroic personality is shared by all of UA (Mina acted in the exact same way in Kirishima’s backstory as he did to save Bakugou, didn’t get any cool op powers out of it)

All Might was supposed to give OfA to Mirio, the literal most heroic character in bnha, a boy who had been working his ass off to become a proper hero since he was a child, but instead he found a quirkless kid and decided that he deserved a chance to become a hero too. I’m not saying that’s not true, or that Deku didn’t deserve it. I’m saying that he didn’t actively or consciously do anything to gain that power. He simply acted in a way true to his self, and that was it.

I’m gonna have to make present to you that the next time I get an ask with that tone in my inbox I’m blocking you without answering. I’m not here to be called an idiot by the first random stranger I find online, if you want a conversation with me all I’m asking is for you to be polite, that’s not too much at all in my opinion.

Like, I really don't want to sound condescending, but I don't understand how you could come to this conclusion. Bakugou has an inferiority complex from hell and suffers constantly from his own inner turmoil, todoroki has an an abusive father with a horrid childhood, iida's brother/idol was paralyzed and almost killed, shigaraki unknowingly killed his parents as a child, toshinori may still be alive, but all might (the hero) is gone to the world forever,

eri was used and experimented on HER ENTIRE LIFE, believing she was a disease to the world and could only cause suffering. I could go on for pages about the suffering these characters have ALREADY gone through- but that is okay, because the story is better for it. Because we as an audience wouldn't have cared nearly as much for deku's gain of one-for-all, if it wasn't for the trials and turmoil he faced his whole life living as a quirkless child;

Bnha is a positive story, but it does not rely solely on positivity to get by. It is a story about determination; to push back against adversity, to go on even in the face of the unknown or impossible; even if fate itself is against you. It's about climbing your mountains and beyond that, dare I say, beyond plus ultra. It's is not trying to adhere to its genre, it's is trying to be everything the genre could be and more, and as succeeded thus far.

Which is why I can understand the disappointment from the last anon, because solving everything through friendship and "hand holding" has become a norm in this genre specifically- and bnha is anything but quick and easy ways out.

Sorry if this is long, and I really hope you don't take this as an attack against you or your opinion. If that is all bnha is to you, and if that is how you perceive the show, who am I to say you are wrong. But I hope you understand what I have said at least, because you still are a huge inspiration to me as an artist and in this community. Hope the rest of your day goes alright.

Alright, first off, if you don’t want to come off as condescending try and maybe don’t be condescending. I’m nearly sure you didn’t do this consciously, considering how you ended the rant, but going “are we even reading the same story” when you supposedly want a civil exchange of opinions is the worst thing you could do ever. You pretty much said “I don’t wanna disregard your opinion but here is a list of reason why you’re wrong and I’m right”, please next time you mean to keep it civil try and avoid that, because that sounds just as bad as you’d assume.

Second, I thank you for the recap of all the tragic backstories bnha gave us, but my answer was about conclusions to arcs, not beginnings. I literally never once said that bnha is a happy-go-lucky story from start to end, I only said it made an habit of reaching for the best possible conclusion it could ever go for by the end of every arc up until now.

“The story starts off with a weak, defenseless deku being beaten by his once best friend”, sure (aside from the “once best friend”, Deku and Bakugou were never friends to begin with, please do reread the second Kacchan vs Deku for Bakugou’s view on their relationship) that’s how the story starts, and it ends with Deku with the strongest quirk on the planet, mentored by his childhood hero, with a civil and friendly rivalry with his childhood bully, on his way to become the number one hero, happy and loved and respected. “”Bakugou has an inferiority complex from hell and suffers constantly from his own inner turmoil” again, sure, and he could have given in to it and become a villain or let his terrible personality just become worse and worse, every single bad thing happened to him could have made him closer to a bad guy or given him good reasons to go against the heroes, and instead he’s working to become better, is loved and cherished, has friends that will build him up and care for him and risk their lives for him, and is actually in a way healthier place than he was in the beginning. “Todoroki has an an abusive father with a horrid childhood” SURE and now he’s got his mother back, he’s learnt to be the bigger person and put distance between himself and his father to instead use him to reach his own goals, is happy and has friends and, again, he’s supported and loved and is in a way happier place than he was in the beginning. “Toshinori may still be alive, but all might (the hero) is gone to the world forever” yes, and in any other manga the reveal would have brought a whole damn lot of drama and people calling him a fraud and turning against him, but instead that scene is the most heartwarming one in the whole manga, the whole world supporting and loving him and yelling his name to cheer him on

I could go on, but I think I made it pretty clear? Every single arc, be it a character arc or a story arc, starts tragic to end up with the most positive outcome you can have for it. There isn’t one arc that has had a tragic conclusion yet. So is it really that weird for me to think it’s believable and not surprising at all that Eri’s story, for however tragic it might have started as, could also have a happy ending? That this manga never tried to present itself as one in which things can and will turn out for the worse?

I’m not even sure exactly what your incredibly long ask was about, man. What were you trying to prove to me? Which part of the answer I gave were you trying to disprove? You just went on about how sad everyone was at the beginning of the manga as if that proved somehow that Horikoshi isn’t actively working to give everyone the happiest future they could have. 

A recap of my answer is: “I personally don’t mind Eri having a fix-it quirk because it fits well in Nighteye’s plot and falls perfectly in line with how every other arc has turned out for the best up until now”

And you came at me with an eight asks long rant that can be summed up in “you’re wrong because people in the beginning of the story were sad”

Listen. I’m always open to conversations about different opinions and takes on a story. But, again, I’m gonna need you to be polite about it and open to an equal exchange. Simply going at the end “I hope you won’t feel attacked” and “have a nice day” isn’t enough if for the rest of the rant you talked to me as if you were assuming I’m an idiot. im glad bc i just wanna talk about oso san all the time so~~~1. Who is your favorite sextuplet?: I actually don’t know if I’ve ever said on here? Huh, i wonder if its obvious? Well, its Karamatsu :^)

2. Who is your favorite non-sextuplet character?: either totoko or chibita, its kinda too hard to pick between those two

3. Who is your least favorite character?: kara’s god damn flower fairy thing, she was barely even in it but her attitude just pissed me off 

4. Who is your least favorite sextuplet?: I honestly don’t have one, it used to be todomatsu but he really, really grew on me throughout the series and now i just love them all way too much

5. When did you start watching the series?: november 2015, the day jyushimatsu falls in love aired!! 6. Do you own any merch?: yeah i literally cant stop pre/ordering stuff i hate myself and so does my bank account and im running out of space in my bedroom lmao ;;

7. Do you play any of the apps?: hesowars and tabimatsu! though I only started hesowars like a month or two ago, for some reason

8. Have you seen osomatsu-kun?: a couple of episodes yeah! i wanna watch more but i cant ever find them ahaha

9. Which character do you relate to the most?: out of the sextuplets id say all of them are pretty relatable for me, oso and todo mostly though

10. When first watching the series, how long did it take for you to be able to tell the sextuplets apart?: I think by at least ep 5 i had them down but I can’t really remember ahahaha, but right away it was easy to know choro bc no ahoge, and ichi bc of his eyes :’)

11. List the sextuplets from favorite to least favorite: my order changes a lot but i guess its something like karamatsu ichimatsu, jyushimatsuosomatsu, todomatsu, choromatsubc i literally wouldnt be able to put any 6 of them actually last LOL

12. Why did you start watching the series?: because it seemed genuinely funny, i really liked the voice actors and the art style attracted me. i dont usually go for comedy anime so tbh becoming so invested was a shocker

13. Have you read any of the manga?: ive read all the ones that are translated as far as I’m aware? And I read a few raws too, I plan to buy them soon but I’m lowkey hoping for official translations someday14. What was your opinion of the season one ending?: I honestly really loved it, to me it was extremely obvious they werent going to end a parody anime on a sad note so I was expecting something really dumb, also i think it was one of the funniest eps to me

15. Which opening theme do you like more?: omg i dont know theyre both such bops

16. Which ending theme is your favorite?: the first one, but the version used for the last episode! bc its cute aaaaa

What is your favorite episode or segment?: omg i love so many i could never pick one, off the top of my head I really, really, REALLY enjoy choromatsu cant sleep, fappymatsu, todomatsu and the 5 demons, keresone, and ichimatsu incident... ichimatsus inner monologue of him just screaming is such perfection ahahhaha more ichimatsu internally yelling in s2 pls

19. Do you like F6?: ehhh idk. theyre okay? i forget they exist until somebody mentions them most of the time lmfao. there was that one scene with f6 kara drinking milk that was particularly great imo

Have you ever made any osomatsu-san fanart?: yeah!! lots!! but its been a while since i posted anything, plus these days i use twitter more, tbh its what made me want to draw more after I fell out of my last fandom, so i guess thats a good thing, but honestly I’m more a writer considering that was my first major hahaha21. Which episode or segment was your least favorite?: i dont know, I guess I just dont care about dekapan bc he creeps me out a little so I think probably the one with him and dayon driving? somewhere? I cant even remember 

22. What episode or segment did you laugh the hardest at?: omg idk so many literally had my crying bc i find them so stupidly hilarious, i guess the ones that take me by surprise at the ones that make me laugh the most, also when I rewatch I find I appreciate them even more every time so afjdsgs

23. Did you cry at any time while watching the series?: ive only ever cried laughing, which happened a lot, but of course ep24 and jyushi falls in love are pretty emotional lmao 24. If you could make your own osomatsu-san episode, what would it be about?: AAAAHHH i have so many ideas. but tbh i would just love a musical episode. somebody doesnt understand why everybody is singing and dancing. there are pom poms. we’re all in this together bitches. ALSO i would die if they animated some of the manga chapters, e.g. the fashion battle todo and kara have, and mc ichi and mc todo... and when oso and kara get lost in a mountain and when oso asks if kara has anything to burn for a fire hes like “no these are too important” and its just a fucking handful of candids sslkhdjisfhaifadand isnt there one about a knock off version of pokemon with choro as the trainer? please. pls. PLEASE.

25. How do you feel about multiple seasons of osomatsu-san?: i wish it could go on forever and ever and ever. but seriously I feel they could juice some good content for a fair few seasons, I obviously wouldnt ever want it to lose its charm but I genuinely don’t see why it couldn’t be long running... but for now I’m satisfied with what we get, and season 2 finally getting announced is incredible though and im super happy :))))
