"It really is nice out tonight." @ mr beckett boyer
@draconisa | new year starters
“It is, ainnit?” He looks up at the sky and takes a deep breath, feels like he’s breathing in the whole wild world even though his body’s so small. Rarely does he ever leave the Shatterdome and when he does it’s to check on how things are going, not for fresh air or anything luxurious like that. And yet, here he is, a few minutes before midnight standing at the best spot on the ship deck with the best view of the vast ocean with a pretty girl just inches from him. He thinks there’s got to be a word to describe this feeling, but also how special it is that there may not be.
He leans his elbows on the railing and glances over at her, something meek about his exterior. “Almost makes you forget you’re fighting got-dam Kaijus.” He chuckles. Behind them, kids chase each other with sparklers. Lovers hold each other. Brothers in arms capture this moment for what it is. “Can’t believe Mako actually cleared for us to have a small light show. You’d figure she’d be the first one sayin’ no to it, scared it might wake up some sleepin’ Megalodon or somethin’ like that. But I think she feels the same way we do. Homesick.”

nate & beckett continued from here. @sweetsoftplentyrhythm
Half Nate's cash went to putting diesel in his gas-guzzler of a truck, and the other half went to beer, but on nights like this, he felt like all of that was money well spent. He'd gotten a bit lost - not on the back roads that he'd been driving his entire life, but rather in his own head - wondering if everything was all about to change, and not for the better. In a town that had been frozen for a lifetime, the thought was unsettling.
And Beckett's line of questioning gave him a sick sense that he was right to be worried. He leaned back in his seat, his only hand on the steering wheel gripping a little tighter than was necessary.
"Oh, I'm sure my mom'll be there, and she'll bring the girls." Of his two younger sisters, Emily Grace idolized Beck and Evie tolerated him better than she tolerated most people, but either way, it was a testament to the fact that no one could resist the charms of Beckett Boyer. Except maybe his little brother Cole, who seemed to hate everybody but the trees like some weird little Lorax. His mom had bene hounding him about the RSVP, too, but didn't want to give a headcount until she knew for sure who was going, and Nate kept pretending he hadn't received his work schedule yet.
He realized he hadn't fully answered Beck's question, but. He didn't know what to say. "Are you sure about all this? 'Cos I'm sure there's still time. Or.. or we could go to Canada or something. Plenty of people travel after graduation. They call it a gap year or some shit. They can't come after you if you go to Canada. I saw it on The Handmaid's Tale. Well, Evie did. She told me about it."

@inechoingsilence
When Betsy Kramer put in a non-emergency call for a possible trespasser in the old Miller home on Rutgers Street, Sheriff Beckett Boyer was the closest one to answer. He drove by the Kramers, waving nonchalantly at Mrs. Kramer, who looked ever-so-worried about her potential new neighbor, before turning his attention to the house across the street.
He furrowed his brows. There was an unfamiliar truck parked out front, but he remembered how a FOR SALE sign had also been propped out in the front yard last summer. Naturally, someone must have bought it, and Mrs. Kramer was likely just looking to stir trouble or be a brown-noser about who was new in the neighborhood. With a huff, he parked his car in front of the old Miller home and tipped his hat over at Mrs. Kramer, who continued to watch on. Beckett supposed this town gossip was better than having to deal with real danger.
Walking up the front porch steps of the old Miller home, Beckett couldn't help but notice how refreshed it looked. Some exterior paint was still chipped, yet it looked lived-in now; not abandoned like before. He knocked on the door. "Baldwin County PD," he called out to the newcomer.

˙ ˖ ✶ ana’s wanted [horror] plots.
these are just some [horror] ideas i’m spitballing and seeing what sticks! we can take tidbits of these and mix them all together, use some tidbits to inform something original. most of these are half-baked for the purpose of developing something together. if you have any questions or want to do any of these, im me!
these are always going to be under construction/updated.
last updated: 5.6.23
please keep in mind muses aren't limited to the plots i've quickly scribbled down for them. i'd love to explore more verses and horror-based fandoms! some of my favorite horror movies/franchises/genres include but are not limited to:
the conjuring/insidious/the nun
evil dead
saw
slasher - child's play, friday the 13th, halloween
nightmare on elm street
ready or not/you're next
the thing/alien/predator/annihilation
pearl/x
the witch
hereditary
giallo-type stuff/dario argento horror
Twyla Mooney:
From Rags to Retched: Twyla has made a deal with the devil and must do his bidding in exchange for fortune.
Wouldst Thou Like the Taste of Butter?: Twyla is a witch part of a man-eating coven.
Please, I'm A Star: Twyla's shortcomings culminate to a Pearl-like slasher episode where she wields the ax.
Nancy Martin:
In Space No One Can Hear You Scream: Would love to place Nancy in Dead Space, Alien, or The Thing-like situations where she's part of an old crew or must rescue a new crew. Space survival horror.
It's Copying Your Voice: AU based on Annihilation where Nancy is part of a crew that must enter an alien environment on Earth that is hyper-evolving everything inside it, creating monsters and dangerous spores.
Una Tempens:
Let's Go, Girls: Snake Eyes, the night club Una works at, is also the den of succubi women. Una is a maneater. Literally.
Soleil Smith:
Just One Bite: Soleil is a vampire alongside her brother, Ford. The pair live on a farm near the swamps where rumors of coyote attacks killing the farm animals are frequent.
You're Eating People. No, I'm Eating Boys: A la Jennifer Check in Jennifer's Body. Soleil was part of a ritual sacrifice where some selfish pricks murdered her and accidentally turned her into a man-eating succubus.
Lizzie Rojas:
From Rags to Retched: Lizzie has made a deal with the devil and must do his bidding in exchange for fortune.
Wouldst Thou Like the Taste of Butter?: Lizzie is a witch part of a man-eating coven.
Soap Shepard:
In Space No One Can Hear You Scream: Would love to place Soap in Dead Space, Alien, or The Thing-like situations where he's part of an old crew or must rescue a new crew. Space survival horror.
It's Copying Your Voice: AU based on Annihilation where Soap is part of a crew that must enter an alien environment on Earth that is hyper-evolving everything inside it, creating monsters and dangerous spores.
Jesse Mendoza:
Open for zombie apocalypse-like verses: I'd love if Jesse was still an inmate during the apocalypse. Think scrounging for resources in a prison and having a big concrete defense against skin-eaters, until a group decides to come in and jeopardize that.
Ford Smith:
Just One Bite: Ford is the local owner of a mysterious farm near the swamp. Every year, there are rumors of coyote and other small animal attacks that kill off some of the farm animals on the land. Unbeknownst to the nearby town is that Ford himself, a longtime vampire, is the killer.
Open for space thriller, sci-fi horror, and 65 film-esque plots
Eli King:
Those Mines Have Been Closed for Almost a Century: An Until Dawn/The Quarry-inspired plot where Eli is the lookout of a firewatch tower in a sleepy town whose mine has been the center of a few missing persons cases and possible murders for the last few decades. Rumors of cryptids and other creatures are rampant.
Open for The Walking Dead/The Last of Us/Resident Evil plots
Beckett Boyer:
That Boy is a Monster: Beckett is a werewolf who shifts and feeds every full moon.
Those Mines Have Been Closed for Almost a Century: An Until Dawn/The Quarry-inspired plot where Beckett is the local sheriff of a sleepy town whose mine has been the center of a few missing persons cases and possible murders for the last few decades. Rumors of cryptids and other creatures are rampant.
Open for The Walking Dead/The Last of Us/Resident Evil plots
Beacon Namara:
Deal with the Devil: Beacon has made a deal with the devil to open up his very own successful jazz club. Unbeknownst to him, his club has also become a breeding ground for possession and demons. Mystery looms when a demon hunter moves into town.

They didn't have that silly fake sound when he got hit
They are seriously calling esposito? (also what is the injury on his arm? Is it ever explained? No? Good. I like how he is allowed to have random injuries that have explanations even if they were not explained onscreen. Maybe he was cooking. He has a life outside of what we see.)
JE: Seriously? Who liked who first? JE: You do realize that I’m busy trying to save your life? JE: listens, but he doesn’t really care. KR: Who’re you talking to? He covers the microphone. JE: It’s Castle and Beckett. I think they’re starting to crack. Check it out. He flips his phone over to speaker. KR gives JE a look. They’ve lost interest. KR: Yeah, well, totally losing it. JE: Yep.

But what is the kid's NEW name? & what was his code BEFORE he got the name?
five digit code tho JE: What kind of mother’s gonna call her kid Willy unless she wants his ass kicked every day at the playground? could have been the kid's bday
Maybe DON'T step off yet just in case it only deactivated the timer...
Love how he slams the table once castle confirms she's off
Always <3
ngl when I first noticed the red car (in under the influence with the musician & the foster kid, the joey malone ep) I thought it was his personal vehicle but it has lights & stuff on it. & gates is in it huh THAT'S WHY HE TURNED ON THE SIREN, TO PREVENT THEM FROM KISSING IN FRONT OF GATES also becks needs some water & food sharing hugs but they didn't switch hugs, it was only especkett & rystle.

closed starter for @nverletmego.  plot: Beck and Stella are at a new year’s eve party, Beck has been deployed again and needs to leave soon.
The sun had long set when the party began. The friends were ready to ring in the new year with enthusiasm, and the pulsating beats of the music only fuelled that excitement the darker the night got. Though they’d all got together for Christmas just a few days, as was their childhood custom, the eagerness with which the young adults were partying spoke volumes about the sort of friendship they shared.
Always the social butterfly at such places, the brunette moved around chatting and mingling, just like old times. Yet, her eyes sought one particular face in the small crowd. He had shown up for the Christmas party, which had been a gift in itself for her. She really hoped he would come for this party too. She had dressed up especially for him. Nothing too fancy. Just a nice green sweater with a pleated black skirt, black stockings and Blahnik ankle boots.
“I’ll just go get some more wine,” she lied to one of her friends, being in a mood to get some air. Swinging by the table where the wine was kept, so as not to come across as a liar, she almost ran into someone. “Oh, I’m so sor— Oh! Hey!” Her face almost lit up at the sight of him.

Split-Toe Shoes: What’s the Deal?
There are like three types of dress shoe that get almost all the attention: brogues, loafers, and balmorals. Indeed my own shoe closet is filled with just those, aside from boots. Double monks enjoyed a resurgence ten years ago, and while they still have popular billing in the mainstream, they’ve fallen out of favor in the style-conscious menswear circles that made them popular.
However, there is a style of dress shoe that has maintained a consistent, low profile popularity, lurking just under the surface enough not to gain widespread fame, and therefore also avoiding major backlash like the double monk. I’m talking about the split toe shoe.
Often accompanied by the descriptor “Norwegian,” a split toe is a type of derby shoe with a seam running down the front of the toe. There is then an apron sewn on top that forms a ridge running along the top, sort of like a moccasin. Bespoke shoemaker Nicholas Templeman described that the purpose of a split toe was originally to achieve greater waterproof qualities in this Styleforum post.
The “Norwegian” moniker is separate from and unrelated to the split toe style, although because the names are so often put together they’re often synonymous (like Kleenex, Google, etc.). Norwegian is a method of attaching the soles of the shoes that is, naturally, more waterproof.
The next dress shoe I get will probably be a split toe. I tried on The Armoury’s Jubilee suede split toe when I was there a couple years ago, and loved it. It fit well, and has just the right low profile I’m looking for. Split toes can be either very rustic looking or quite sleek. I am attracted more to the sleek styles, which the Jubilee is.
Below are a few split toe shoes on the market. The king is the Edward Green Dover, but if that’s a bit too rich for your blood (like mine), fear not, there are others in a much more achievable price range. Honestly I like the Beckett Simonon dress shoe last so much that I’m very tempted to get their Clegg split toe in oak leather. Meermin also makes a split toe shoe in a dressier configuration that looks good.
Split toe shoe options
The king: Edward Green Dover (Sid Mashburn’s makeup looks outstanding)
The mid-range: Armoury Jubilee (my choice) | Crockett & Jones Hardwick | Carmina NST
The budget: Beckett Simonon Clegg | Meermin

Brian Dillon’s Suppose a Sentenceis a collection of 27 essays that each take a single sentence as their starting point. BECKETT ABEL BOYER
Tumblr media
His full name on blast, as if on a megaphone, makes him stop what he’s doing– slicing up some lemons– and tilt his head up with a little bit of a guilty expression, though he doesn’t have anything to be guilty for. His girlfriend’s voice is hollering from the other room, and he has to clutch his unlit cigarette with his teeth to mutter, “What is it, woman?” This could really be anything.

@sacredpyre // beckett x alena loosely based on this.
It is a humble offering—a gift that can span from generation to generation, and each time it's crafted, it's somehow filled with more love than before. Peach cobbler. But not just any peach cobbler. It's the Boyer family peach cobbler, famous for the extra bit of sugar the matriarch once put in it all those years ago that could send anybody in a rush.
Beckett remembered how much the other blonde loved it, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to cut the tartness with some creaminess. It was the first and only thing he could think of making for tonight's dinner, which was a celebration of reconnecting for the first time since they were 16. They had been under the same roof for about a week or so now, but with busy schedules, things were hard to plan. The wait was worth it, he thought.
He wasn't much of a cook, so the rest of the meal was provided by one of the southern comfort food restaurants in town, but he hoped setting the peach cobbler in a nice ceramic dish in the middle made up for the presentation of it all.
Beckett brushed his hands together and began untying his apron, flashing a warm smile at Alena. "Ready to eat?" he asked, intentionally not mentioning the peach cobbler, which he knew she'd love and be excited over. (Or, at least he hoped.)
"And don't worry, I got your vanilla ice cream in the fridge."

These Weekend Reading posts are a great way to get the juices flowing and find some inspiration. I know they’re not the same as a full written article, but they are definitely pushing me in the right direction.
Speaking of full…
