Becca: Oh no, you made a mess, sir. Hold on, I brought a napkin from home, you may use it.

Mica: What the FUCK?

Brennan: You brought a cloth napkin from home? Everyone make fun of Becca!

(Tables laughs, Freddie claps)

Becca: No. No no no no no.

Aabria: Why do you have a full-ass cloth-ass napkin here?

Brennan: Yeah, yeah, put it on Becca! Put it on Becca!

Freddie: Yeah, explain that- explain that real quick.

Becca: I’m not embarrassed. I bring a cloth napkin-

Nancy: Listen, I’m not a violent person. I shouldn’t have hit her.

Siobhan: It hardly matters. It’s about respect.

Siobhan: You have the means to be the most powerful woman in the world. Your family runs a multi million dollar company. Your name is on every recognizable building across the globe. Girls like Becca will dream of the day they can write you a check so she can raise her brood of rowdy children in one of your flawlessly designed properties.

Siobhan: You’re a star, Nancy. It’s time you show everyone what it means to be a Landgraab. You can start by becoming a Theta.

Siobhan: By the way, your mother just arrived!

Nancy: Hello Mother.

Queenie: So you’ve made friends with the daughter of an adulterer. Is that what you thought would impress me? Well, at least she’s proactive. Your lack of involvement in any clubs or organizations shows just how lazy you are. It’s almost as if we’ve sent you to university to piss away our money yet again. When will you prove to me that you’re worth half the trouble you put your father and me through? And for the love of God, stop biting your nails! It’s disgusting.

Professor Munch: -right, Nancy?

Nancy: I’m sorry, what was that?

Professor Munch: This model is absolutely stunning! Marvelous, even.

Nancy: R-really? Thank you, Professor.

Professor Munch: Ah! No wonder! Your drawings are very compelling. The way you blend functionality with aesthetics is brillant! A true prodigy!

Professor Munch: I am very proud of you, Nancy. Keep it up.

Nancy: Hi Professor. I know I’m a little early for office hours, but I really wanted your thoughts on my blueprints.

Professor Munch: Nancy! Are you kidding! Anything for my star pupil. Take a seat.

Professor Munch: If I’m being honest, I don’t have much critique.

Nancy: Staying on top of my grades is really important to me. My GPA is 3.7 but I know I can do more to improve. I can do better-

Professor Munch: [huffs affectionately] Nancy! You are my brightest and best student! I’d say it’s in your blood. I haven’t seen such vision and passion in my student’s work since I taught your brother.

Nancy: Nathan was your student?

Professor Munch: Oh, Nathan was my star! In the short time I spent with him, he has shown me what true artistry looks like. That kid had an eye for detail. He always spoke so fondly of his little baby sister, Nan; he’d call you. [sighs] I miss him dearly.

Professor Munch: I thought of quitting and getting back into the field after he passed. I was devastated when I found out about the accident. My partner pushed me to continue teaching. She knew there was nothing I loved more than handing the tools to brillant kids like you and Nathan to shape our future.

Nancy: Partner? [frowns] Your...partner?

Professor Munch: Monica. We were roommates in college and have been stuck to each other like glue since!

Nancy: So, she’s your best friend?

Professor Munch: Oh certainly. My best friend, my muse, my partner.

Nancy: What about your husband?

Professor Munch: Husband?

Nancy: I- sorry. Nevermind.

Professor Munch: Talk to me, dear. What’s on your mind?

Nancy: I guess I don’t understand. You’re wearing a ring but you have no photos of your husband. You seem...close with her, in the photo.

Professor Munch: I was married once. We have three children together. Sweetest man alive. We’re still friends to this day. We both realized that we had our hearts in different places. In the end, I had my Monica. My soulmate.

Nancy: [sobs quietly]

Professor Munch: Oh, no. Nancy? Dear, are you alright?

Professor Munch: [softly] Oh, sweet darling. You’re hurting, aren’t you? Can I hold you? Is that ok?

Nancy: [nods once]

Professor Munch: You let it all out, you hear me? Just let it all out. I got you.

Nancy Narrates: [I wondered what kind of person I’d be had my mother held me like this]

Professor Munch: There’s a small club that I support that meets every Friday in the commons. I think you should stop by.

Nancy: Thank you Professor but, I think I’ve already decided to join a sorority.

Professor Munch: I’ll tell you what, it’s not something you have to join or commit to, but I think there’s something to gain by coming. Plus, there’s someone I’d like you to meet. You two have a lot in common.

02 January '44 Dear Mister Stark I apologize beforehand in case all of this will be unreadable to you. My teachers more than once told me that my handwriting might not be up to—well probably any standard. I assume that sketch of yours was brilliant, but I also think that someone decided that it wasn't entirely something I should see. But I am sure that no matter what, it'll work just fine. Whatever you might have heard might be wrong. And a lot of it got blacked[?] (and I got asked to not share too much where the enemy could easily find it so maybe you should try to be a good boy for once. I, at least, don't need to try—I am always good.

Page 2:

We haven't reached our original goal. Got some other orders, or Steve did, so off we go. Still Italy, but not as intended. I do hope you had a nice Christmas, Mister Stark. We even got extra rations and the family they put us up with made sure that we felt very welcome. Even a nice dance got organized, which reminded me of the dance we had both talked about. Who knows, maybe if we'll get out of here you'll have the time to take me—introduce me to your friends as the brash hero and all that is apparently being told by news back home. Or at least by Becca, so who knows if it's true. I truly hope you got to spend the days with people you like or at least with news from home. And if not, maybe there's a chance to celebrate something else with me and the other Howlies.

As nice as it is here, we already got told that the day after tomorrow we will west[?] again. The Colonel mentioned that you might be there too, so you can show me the sketches in person. Regarding Steve, he is doing great. Big hit with the ladies now, enjoying being able to do stuff. It's just still a bit strange, him being big now. Good, but definitely strange. Causing me to come running out of my room and question what she was watching. I’m super stoked to have had any opportunity to be involved in fandom this much and I’m excited to see where it continues to take me!

I’ve been watching Stranger Things since the beginning. I loved how creative and nostalgia-driven the show is. The death (maybe, hopefully not, let me be delulu a little longer) of Eddie Munson is what drove me to read my first fanfiction ever. I hadn’t resonated with a character that much in a long time and having his ending be so unsatisfying on the show led me to want a world where that’s fixed or never happens (shout out to AUs). Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall

“If there are rules, there’s a way things ought to be”.

I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but everything about this book fits right into my alley. I mean, look at the title alone. What an intriguing title. The cover was also stunning. It had all of the trademarks of a good horror book - ghosts, folktales, and monsters. Ultimately, ​​Rules for Vanishing intertwined looking for a long lost sister, a deadly ghost story and teenage angst into a riveting book.

It genuinely terrified me. I suppose I shouldn’t have been reading so late into the night but I really couldn't put it down. Marshall combines exquisite prose with a documentary-style narrative that included police reports, transcriptions of interviews, text messages. The multi-media format complemented each other because the narration was built to be unreliable to an extent. It helped to build up the creepy atmosphere of the book. The suspense and dread is apparent early on with the mention of the road, Lucy Gallows and the game. Marshall truly excelled in delivering such an evocative environment where it was so easy to picture in my head. She did the same thing with the horror e;lements of the book - the monsters were terrifying and there was always a sense of dread in the atmosphere.

However, what didn’t match was the almost laissez-faire attitude by the characters. They were all teenagers and honestly, most of them were distinct enough. But they weren’t all remarkable. I think the setting and the plot allowed this book to truly excel. I did find some of the characters a little lacklustre but Sara and her sister Becca’s bond was sweet. Additionally, while I appreciated the creepy atmosphere, there was a lot going on sometimes where I wasn’t sure what was even happening. Overall, this was a great read and I would read it again!

I kind of skimmed it - and I wonder is there something specific that's got you thinking?

I can't tell tone from a transcript - but it sounds like the whole experience was bittersweet for her?

Her experience post-Glee sounds like what a lot of actors go through after being on a hit show. Where you get type-cast and have trouble breaking out of the mold that Hollywood wants to put you in. She also kind of brings up something that is frustrating in the industry -- that I've heard from all of the women on these rewatch podcasts that I listen to...

Hollywood thinks it needs two type of women - women in their early 20s and the older women for the older parts. There isn't much space for women in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. It's like women stop at 25. Though 'old' woman is usually 50 and that's just ridiculous. The part about her talking about not being able to get a role as a mother when she's 38 and a mother - I did feel that.

I also found the talk about everyone struggling post-Glee interesting, but when they started to get into it, found that actually people are more successful than you might think. I think a lot of the cast is doing really well -- just maybe in different ways. Like Chris has his book career (and as someone who works in books - he is incredibly prolific and popular for a children's author). Darren and Amber have both been successful on the stage. As they said, Harry and Melissa have both spun out into different directions.

Interestingly (?) it seems like Kevin and Jenna are probably working the least (which is probably why they are doing the podcast).

I also understand why she doesn't want to go back and watch the show. It is awkward. And it can be a sad thing. I think the Newbies were treated horribly (said from someone who didn't think that particular decision was a great way to take the show).

That's what I've got, Nonny. I'm not entirely sure what nugget you wanted commentary on, though. Like I said -- I think it's an unfortunate thing to happen in post-successful things when actors struggle to move on beyond what they're known for. Let me know if there's something I missed!

Morgan: It’s cool, I get mistaken for all the other freaky witchy chicks that go here. [smirks] That’s a joke, by the way. I’m the only one. I’m Morgan Fyres. Interested in tarot card reading?

Nancy: Fyres? Is your father the owner of the hotel chains? Dominic Fyres?

Morgan: STEP father, actually.

Siobhan: If you’re looking for real Fyres royalty, then look no further. Siobhan. No need to introduce yourself; I know exactly who you are, Nancy Landgraab.

Morgan: [grumbles] Annnnd cue the cameras.

Siobhan: I’m the president of Theta Omega Pi, the same sorority Queenie Landgraab pledged to. She proudly hangs in our hall of fame, so it would be a privilege to welcome a true legacy into our sisterhood.

Becca: Hey! I found her first!

Morgan: How about you two back off? You’re bringing bad vibes to my stand.

Siobhan: Relax, creature of the night. I was going to discuss Nancy’s future with Theta.

Morgan: Maybe she wants to start tarot reading? This isn’t some business opp, fake Barbie wannabe.
