Life is full of challenges, but it’s still our choices that define who we are and who we’ll become.

After Lehi had died, his sons and others chose different paths.

Laman, Lemuel and the sons of Ishmael let anger rule over them. They didn’t want to follow the admonitions of the Lord.

Nephi and his wife and others fled to safety and worked to build up their families.

They built grew crops, built homes, grew and even built a temple to honor God.

Despite their extraordinary efforts to survive and thrive, they were a happy people.

Why were they so happy though?

A better question is: How did they become so happy?

Nephi summed this up in one sentence:

“And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness” 2 Nephi 5:27). This manner meant living according to God.

Earlier in the chapter, Nephi said “My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness…He hath filled me with his love…, he hath heard my cry by day, and he hath given me knowledge by visions in the nighttime.”

Whether at home or in the wilderness, God is my strength. He is the light of my life and the comfort of my soul.

I know I didn’t go as good with the hands as intended ^^’ this was originally supposed to be for Easter, but I got behind on other things. I’ll do better in the future. Anyhow, I decided to do something simple with a very clear message from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Something I noticed as a older teen/young adult was the fact that although Christ was resurrected, he still had the marks on His hands and wrists. And it was then that I realized that He doesn’t want to forget us. He died for us. Each of us, individually. It really touched me and I really like this Isaiah scripture because it’s proof that Jesus has not forgotten us, and we should never forget Him for what he did all those 2,000+ years ago.
