Next up: Ice Ice baby!! The brother/twin(?) of Fire. They have complimentary color schemes to a degree (brown and orange and then grey and blue) and I really think it makes them look very interesting next to eachother. Cool beans indeed.

I really like his hair, and the fact that their bangs are somewhat similar. I also love that he wears these little heeled boots, and I hc that it’s because he wants to be taller than his sister to spite her.

His design in definitely a lot more formal compared to Fire’s, and I’m still trying to decide whether or not they have similar/complementary talents. My current theory is that while she is some sort of fighter, like a boxer etc, he works more on the money side of that, like a manager or something like that.

The way that he’s turned away from Fire makes me think that they don’t particularly like eachother, or at least Ice doesn’t like Fire. I think this makes sense, with their complementary color schemes and the juxtaposition between their outfits. I also feel like Ice is the younger sibling of the two of them. Idk. He just gives those vibes.

Wow, she’s attractive! Wait, is that— Is that Whit’s mom??

I feel like my big contribution to the altdrdt stuff is that (i think) I was the first person to pose the ‘this is Whit’s mom’ theory. But like. It makes sense! They have the came color of blonde hair, and she is exactly as he described her to be. Cool, elegant, pretty. She is certainly all of those things, and probably a lot more.

Her cape. I’m insane for her cape. Having a cape instantly makes anyone 10x cooler, I don’t care what Edna Mode says. The royal purple cape, along with the sunglasses and crown clip? Oh yeah, she’s a diva. Or at least, wants to appear as one.

In terms of what her talent could be, I’m honestly a little lost. Of course, the obvious choice would be something like a model or actress or something, but I honestly think her appearance is a cop out and her talent is something totally different, like the Ultimate Banker or something like that (I don’t think she’s actually the Ultimate Banker, that was just an example).

In her eyes is a sort of sparkly design, but when I saw it I immediately thought of some high brand fashion logo or something like that. I definitely think she’s going to end up being a ruthlessly fascinating character, and I’m pretty excited for it.

I just wanted to end by expressing my utmost appreciation for DRDTDev, and everything they’ve done and accomplished. Truly. If you’re reading this, DRDTDev, I just want to let you know how insanely proud of you I am for developing this story that is so captivating and interesting even only 2 chapters in. I think DRDT has officially taken over SDRA2 as my absolute favorite fangan, which is crazy considering it’s not even finished yet. It’s one of very few fangans (or media in general, honestly) that has captivated me this much and made every. single. character full of personality and mystery and interest. I don’t think anyone else could have written this story.

Sorry bout that, got a little emotional! But truly, I meant every word, and I know that I’ll be following DRDT every step of the way, and past that. Now, thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed.

my first impressions of the characters from the leak (?) twitter post thing (?) that DRDTDev made. First off: I love all of them, and half the cast gives me gender envy. I am continually impressed at DRDTDev’s character designing ability, especially in making them interesting, non-boring designs that still communicate their personality and aren’t too complex or over designed. ugh. love them for it (/platonically and/or parasocially)

Just take a few seconds to admire them.

Ok! I’ll be going over some theories that relate to all of the characters, and then character by character, and then at the end a little general reflection.

So, one of the main theories that have been posed is that this killing game takes place before the events of DRDT, which I am like 87% sure of (up 7% from my last post, woo). It makes sense, especially in the context of the other theories regarding the characters. As well as this, it just makes sense timeline-wise.

There is also a theory that every character is somehow connected to someone in the current killing game, which I am still a little unsure of. I can definitely see it for some characters, but we know so little about each of them that it’s really hard to say whether or not that’s true. I will be going over who I think could be connected to who, just in case it does end up being true. However, I think a more likely theory is that a couple of the people involved in this killing game (likely the survivors) are connected to the current one, and exactly how much is up for us to discover.

Ok, on to the characters!

First off!

(I don’t know why, but she’s the only one who’s photo is cropped. oh well)

Pretty!! For the sake of this post, I’ll be calling her Spiral (I will be using the names that @xmicrophonyx came up with!).

My first thought when I saw her (besides the obligatory screeching) was that she gave me teacher vibes? That might be since I already had the context of this story being “about a person who wants to become the perfect teacher”. But outside of that, she definitely looks shy, with her hunched over posture and expression. I do adore her color palette, and the pops of teal add a lot.

In terms of a possible talent/role, I still think she gives teacher-y vibes, whatever that means, although outside of that I would think her talent is something a little more professional, considering her attire being formal (the coat, top, and scarf most of all). So other possibilities could be a secretary, librarian, buisness woman, etc.

Spiral could also be some kind of fancy art critic, or someone who works with the Spurling Foundation, if we need to connect her to the current killing game somehow.

Next up!

The boy!!!!

I’m going to be honest with you. I think he’s my favorite. His demeanor, the neon green jacket, the fingerless gloves, the cap, the khaki capri pants, the aura of a 14 year old shoujo protagonist—he is the moment. The fan name for him is Soundwave.

I think he likely deals with music, since the pattern on his shirt reminds me of sound recordings. Specifically, he probably is into the more technical side of music, such as EDM or techno or something like that (I know pretty much nothing about music, so take my word with a grain of salt).

Because of this, I think Soundwave would be connected to J. J also is in a similar sort of technical profession, so I think that maybe he could be someone who ends up working with J in the future/has worked with J or something like that.

There’s one thing with Soundwave that also is present in 2 of the other characters—he looks quite a bit younger than most of the cast. He’s shorter, yes, but his proportions also make him seem younger. However, the DRDTDev specifies that all of the characters present are 18 or above, so it likely doesn’t mean anything. People can just look young, after all.

I think that’s all, but I’m really excited to learn more about this character because he just seems so fun :)

Oh boy, let’s talk about them…

Hello there, XF. I will also be trying my best to use all of his pronouns! (Those being he/she/they). I am so happy to have yet another gender-non-conforming character in the general DRDT universe, and it is amazing to see such a wide array of diversity and representation in this cast, as well as the cast of the current killing game. Genuinely, I am just… blown away.

She is also the character which we have the strongest connection to the current killing game/a character from the current killing game, that being Min. Min mentions in her bonus episode that an organization called XF-Ture Tech were the ones to sponsor her for the test to become the Ultimate Student. On XF’s coat is an XF-Ture Logo. As well as this, they have the exact same tie clip that Min has.

PLUS, on top of this, he has the same purple/pink eyes that Min has. That last detail almost made me think they were related, but I don’t necessarily believe so. I mean, they might be, but I’m more inclined to believe that XF is just affiliated with/the leader of XF-Ture. There are A LOT of theories for her (along with a lot of simping ahem), but I won’t be mentioning all of them.

If they are the founder of XF-Ture Tech, I imagine their talent would be something like Ultimate Founder, Ultimate Inventor, Ultimate CEO, or something in that vein. He may not be the founder, however, and instead may just work for XF-Ture Tech. I’m not entirely sure, but I am inclined to believe that she is the founder because of the pink eyes. I have a theory that Min actually wears contacts, and that’s why her eyes look the same as XF’s. I may be totally wrong about this, and I thought that DRDTDev already said they weren’t, but I looked through the QnAs and I couldn’t find anything saying that. Unless it is confirmed somewhere, or it gets confirmed, that’s my theory for now!

As well as this, in the chapter 2 part 1 QnA, DRDTDev mentions that Min’s least favorite color(s) are pink and white together, because it’s “annoying”. Since that is a part of XF’s color palette, that draws an obvious connection between the two of them. If Min has had a lot of interaction with XF, and perceives them as annoying, this could be the reason for that connection. It definitely furthers the theory that Min and XF are connected. I’m pretty sure I barely scratched the surface in terms of what has been theorized about them, so I recommend you check out @accirax @googledetective and the posts they made, as well as any of the posts that are bound to be made by the rest of the DRDT theorists.

Him!!!!!!!

For all of you who don’t know, this character uses he/him pronouns and I absolutely love him for that :,) I am truly just… flabbergasted at how amazing DRDTDev continues to be in adding representation to their stories, and not only that, but doing such a good job of it.

Anyways! I will be calling him Dandelion after the dandelion in his hair.

As far as what we can deduce based on his outfit and demeanor: obviously this is a character who messes around with gender presentation (we stan) and doesn’t fall into the rigid categories that many cultures try to enforce. He also looks somewhat naive, and young (though all of these characters are ~18, of course). I also definitely don’t think his talent is something physically demanding, since he seems pretty skinny, and his clothes don’t look like they would be good for running around in.

However, this character has a few things that might key us in to what his talent might be. The first of which is his clothing, since my first thought on seeing it was that it looked trendy, or like something an influencer would wear. In a way that kind of juxtaposes their outfit, however, he has a dandelion in his hair, through the band keeping it up. It is very different from the rest of his color palette, and dandelions are usually considered ‘weeds’, which makes me think that Dandelion’s talent is instead something plant-based.

Since that dandelion is just so different from the rest of his outfit, I believe the latter is true, and that his talent is something like the Ultimate Botanist.

In terms of characters he might be connected to, my first thought was Levi. They both are fashionable, and if my previous thought of Bunny being an influencer or something of the like, it makes sense for Levi to know them somehow. Still, it’s a shaky theory.

I love asymmetrical designs, and the green/blue hair strand balances out his hair really well. I do also really like the strap on his leg, it gives him a slightly edgier look. I will be calling him “Scale” for convenience (I had names for each of these characters before someone came up with better ones, but @pastelclownkitty and I actually had the same idea for this guy!).

So, firsts things first: I do not think he is Elliot Cuevas. I saw this theory, considered it, and have come to the conclusion it doesn’t make sense (at least to me. if this is one of your theories that’s totally fine!). Elliot is described, by DRDTDev in the chapter 2 part 1 QnA, as having looked “shockingly similar” to how Charles looks now. I think the comparison is vague at best, not shocking. They do both have purple hair and dark skin, but both shades of those things are darker for Scale.

In terms of talent, the pattern of his shirt has been pointed out, and I agree that it probably relates to his talent. In fact, Scale somewhat reminds me of an anglerfish, with that bright green in his eyes and that strand of hair. I don’t know, I think I’m just saying things at this point.

Due to the mentioned factors above, I believe his talent is related to fishing or swimming, something like the Ultimate Angler. I can’t discern his build from under his clothing, but he looks a little skinny to be the Ultimate Swimming Pro or anything like that.

Ok. I’m sorry, but he looks a little… Fishy (don’t mind the pun). Maybe it’s how calm he is, or his mouth, but he reminds me of Rantaro somewhat. I love his design, though, and I think his color palette is supremely cool. I also like how his hair highlight is very faintly rainbow. It reminds me of how when you look at water a certain way, it shows a rainbow.

Our protag!! Or, well, Teacher.

Now, I’m pretty sure almost everyone agrees that this character is the Ultimate Teacher, or something of the like. He also has an ID card which says:

This ID card is the property of Hope’s Peak Academy. Use of this ID card by any person other than the rightful holder is prohibited. Report lost or stolen ID cards by contacted 555-483-7367.

Now, numbers starting with 555 are used for fictional phone numbers, specifically in North America, which is how we’re able to tell that this killing game’s participants probably come from the same Hope’s Peak that the participants of the current killing game are from. Other than that, it doesn’t really tell us much, other than our Protag has an ID card for Hope’s Peak. This leads us to believe that he may be staff, however DRDTDev confirms that these are 11 students.

One thing, though, that I think may be something…

What if Teacher is, instead of just a student, a student teacher? Basically, what if he is someone who comes in to help the actual teachers with the class load and such, but isn’t a classmate of the rest of the Ultimates. Either that, or he’s just a student who carries around his ID card from a lanyard. Like a weirdo (/j).

Now: The Mai thing. Many people think that Teacher may be a relative of Mai, or connected to her in some way, due to the red in his hair, on his shoes, and on the inside of his coat. However, the red used with his colors is very different from Mai’s red. Another theory to why he might be related to Mai is because his eyes are always closed in all the art we’ve seen of him, so maybe he’s related to one of the cast and DRDTDev is keeping his eyes closed to not spoil who. I do believe this part, just not with Mai.

Okay well, here my theory goes:

Teacher is the older brother of Teruko. Teruko mentions in chapter 1 episode 4 that she has an older brother, but they were separated when she was 5. She likely doesn’t remember much about him at all (and I suspect that he was the one who Teruko says she “couldn’t remember the face” of as well). Although they don’t have the same hair color, they do have a very similar skin color, and the closed-eye thing could be just as true with Teruko as with Mai. As well as this, most characters in all of DRDT have a gradient on their eyelashes. 3 characters who don’t? Mai, Teruko, and now Teacher.

Imma be honest, it’s a bit of a crack theory, but I kinda like it, and think it’s interesting. I’m pretty sure I’m going to be the only one to believe this haha

Oh wait! I almost forgot! The whole thing on him being the “Teacher” referenced in secret text. I don’t have much to say on that except that yeah, that’s probably true. Maybe. Who knows.

Sigh, I love men.

I’ll be calling this dude Mint, which I know is separate from the names that @xmicrophonyx came up with, but… I think it’s cute, so. First off, his design is great, yada yada, and I love his little cropped jacket. Very cute.

I definitely think his design is pretty sporty, especially with the layers of the undershirt, over shirt, and jacket, along with the coat around his waist. My first thought for him is that he does some kind of racing, either with cars or motorcycles, because that’s what his jacket reminds me of. Race car drivers do wear gloves, so this would make sense for that. I imagine this isn’t his actual racing clothes, instead just casual clothes, but there are still elements of his racing clothes in there. Along with this, it makes sense that he’d have his hair tied back so then he could fit it under his helmet and it wouldn’t get in his face too much (although I suspect his ponytail is too high to fit under a helmet. Oh well, he might wear it lower on race days).

His personality seems like it would fit that sort of thing as well, since he looks serious and somewhat aggressive. He also has those little marks under his eyes. I’m not entirely sure what they’re for, but I’m sure I could connect it back somehow if I wasn’t working on this post for like 3 hours and had any energy whatsoever to do research into it (I just got home from a very long car ride, so keep in mind I am still somewhat delirious). Idk. Maybe he just wanted to look pretty/intimidating/whatever so he put markings under his eyes.

A Child?!? Well, no, probably not, but she does look very, very young. Perhaps it’s the fact she’s right next to Teacher, who I’m pretty sure is the tallest out of the cast? Maybe it’s also the fact that the color that dominates her design is pink, and her complimentary color is baby blue.

So, her design is pretty clearly inspired by sheep/rams, since her pupil is the same shape as them, her braids are coiled up similarly to ram horns, and the bottom of her coat/dress looks like sheep wool. The bell on her bow also looks like the pupil of a sheep, too. I actually had a phase of drawing people with that type of pupil, too, because I thought it looked so interesting and unique. I still think characters with those kind of eyes are pretty cool.

Since her design looks so much like a sheep/ram, you would think that was involved in her talent, however in her eye you can see a little needle. That makes me think she’s a tailor or seamstress or something like that. Perhaps, since wool is a big material used for fabric, she cares for sheep and then makes fabric out of their wool, or something in that vein.

She seems pretty peppy and happy, so I assume she would take on an Eden-esque role in this killing game (Though, I assume, she is actually far different, and likely more naive than Eden is).

Our girl Fire! She is hot, amiright? (Cue the applause). I don’t know what came over me, with that pun. Maybe the spirit of Whit or something.

But no, seriously, she is certainly a… very attractive woman. The snakebite piercings, eyebrow piercings, nose piercings, and bellybutton piercing? Oh my. A win for the girlkissers. A win indeed.

She certainly gives aggressive energy, like she would fight you (and win, obviously. It wouldn’t even be a competition). She looks like she could take Xander. Also!! I really like her teeth, because one of my teeth stick out like that too. I’m pretty sure it’s the one in the exact same spot as her, just mirrored. I’ve always kind of liked it.

Now, her outfit is definitely very sporty, though I’m unsure of which sport exactly. Her abs and chunky gloves give the vibe of something like a boxer or weightlifter, but she also has chaps on. I’m truly unsure if the chaps are just decorative or if she actually does ride horses (I want to say they’re just decorative because white chaps? Not a good idea. No white clothes are really a good idea when you ride horses a lot. Especially if the horses are unruly lol). Plus, she has a lot of skin exposed, and I can say from experience that flies and bugs are a bitch, and there are a lot when horses are involved.

I also just wanted to point out that Fire and Ice (her brother, who I’ll be talking about next) have eyes that are half brown and half grey, and they each have a color palette of either brown or grey and another color (the extra colors are also complimentary). I personally believe this is because the siblings/twins are very different, and likely don’t get along too well, but that’s just a theory. A DRDT theory. I’m mentally unwell, I think.

AN: Thanks for sending this in!! I’m not very good with history, so please forgive any mistakes as I have pretty much just skimmed a few different websites trying to find whatever info I could pick up ;u; This isn’t a traditional headcanon set, but rather an overall ‘18th century Devildom’ headcanon. I hope that’s alright!!

It is occurring to me as I write that this probably isn’t what you want at all because this ask says ‘historical drama’. Sorry ;u; I kind of just ran with whatever came to my head.

I make some references to things that happen later on in the game, around Lesson 15/16. I don’t mention anything outright, but there are definitely hints at some spoilers, so please don’t read this if you haven’t gotten that far ^^

Obey Me - 18th Century AU

The brothers are less put-together than they are in the actual game, with a few hundred years less development under their belt. It shouldn’t make much of a difference as they’re all at least a few thousand years old, but because of some issues between the brothers that have been dragged into the Human Realm, the Devildom is a disaster.

Issues like... Satan and Beelzebub have been having an ongoing argument, contributing to the many wars and famines across the globe. In his free time, Satan has been travelling to the human realm and assisting global leaders from the sidelines, to relieve stress and to cause chaos for his own amusement. Beelzebub’s anger causes food to spoil easily in the Human Realm. Belphegor watches it all from the sidelines, enjoying watching the Human Realm crumble under the demons’ grasps. He doesn’t like seeing Beel upset, and encourages him to take it out on the humans. Beel himself is reluctant to do so, and most of the damage he does is accidental. He feels guilty for it, but is confused because it seems to make Belphie a lot happier than he has been.

Diavolo decides to put a stop to it, and settles on an exchange program of sorts. He puts it into action immediately, banning the brothers from travelling to the human realm and pulling a few humans into the Devildom. The first exchange goes... poorly. There isn’t any way for the news to really spread in the Human Realm, so the disappearance of a few humans is easily covered up. The next time, the MC is pulled into the Devildom and put into the care of Mammon, who is less hostile than his other brothers.

Mammon believes he can personally benefit from a stronger bond between humans and demons - he’s already in contact with witches, and it would help him gain their trust. At the same time, he’s also willing to follow Lucifer’s lead irregardless of how reluctant he may seem. Because of this, he puts effort into actually protecting his human this time; last time, things hadn’t gone well, and he really hadn’t enjoyed the cleanup. He hadn’t been attached to the humans then, and now that he feels a pull to the MC he’s going to be by their side constantly so they don’t meet the same fate.

Asmo loves the clothing, and is one of the first to bond with the MC. The secrecy of it all! What do you really look like? Why do you insist on covering up so much? He treats the MC like a forbidden treat, but genuinely loves the outfits they wear and, with a few adaptations, starts trying to get similar clothing trending in the Devildom, with some genuine success. His forward and suggestive nature is somewhere between disturbing and almost refreshing - its nice to be around someone so open once you get used to it.

Levi is the same as ever, but without all of his technology. The Devildom is still more advanced than the Human Realm, but I can see him with a typewriter writing out poetry and such. Perhaps he and Satan are closer during this time, Levi not being quite so much of a shut-in, and the two read and write together at times. Levi also helps contribute when Satan travels to the human realm to cause chaos - he doesn’t really care all that much, but its fun to lead any navy, even if its a pathetic human navy, and it helps him to de-stress and gives him some inspiration for his writing.

This changes when the MC arrives. He meets them on that first day when Mammon runs away, and they still go through with the pact plan. He’s a little less awkward, but still talks down to the human until they break their seemingly quiet and controlled nature and snap at him. It creates an interest for him, because he’s never seen humans up so close when he’s not fighting them, and he’d only paid attention to the fictional humans in his books. He ends up watching the MC and spending time with them when Mammon isn’t, one of the more controlled brothers who doesn’t really feel like hurting them because there isn’t some big game to play on a watery battlefield.

Lucifer is... busy. RAD isn’t what it is yet in the game - its tough trying to wrangle the demons in and to get them to adapt and better themselves. He’s determined to help Lord Diavolo however he can, but between getting everything set up and dealing with his brothers’ outbursts, he’s rarely able to see the MC.

When he does, he’s a bit of a mess, jumping between being proud and acting like a nobleman, to teasing them because before they’ve adapted to Asmo’s nature, their reactions to everything are entertaining. He’ll flirt and be downright inappropriate at times to get a reaction out of them, using it to help him stay calm amidst all the chaos. Because he usually ends up feeling calm or excited around them, he takes a liking to them quickly enough and ends up quite defensive.

He has quieter moments with them, too, if they know how to play the pianoforte. He invites them to play duets together, and likes to listen to them sing or work their way through the sheet music he has laying about. One day they quietly make their way through an old, old song he last heard hundreds of years ago, and he stands silently in the doorway before walking off to spend some time with his brothers, the memories of easier times fresh in his head.

Satan is also a mess but for different reasons. He’s suddenly lost his main output, and now there’s a human here that he’s not supposed to mess with? He might be a little manipulative at first, but one day he walks into the library and the MC is curled up reading one of the many books, or has discovered some of his writings and is smiling to themself as they read it before carefully and gently setting it back where it was. He changes after that, becomes quieter and tends to watch them a lot when the two are in the same room together. Were all humans like this when they weren’t fighting with each other? When they didn’t immediately rise to his words? It’s not that he feels guilty for the things he’s done, because he doesn’t feel he has done much other than offer advice to people already wanting to fight and conquer. But a soft spot develops for the quieter moments in human lives, where they create - through embroidery, drawing, painting, singing, etc. He finds a new output through them.

Beel tends to avoid the human, not wanting them to realise that he’s potentially been a catalyst for some of their struggles in the Human Realm. However, he begins to feel left out as his brothers are all one-by-one getting attached and spending more and more time with the human. They remind him of something, some old memories he’d long since pushed down, and now he isn’t sure whether he wants to remember or forget about them. They become easier, softer, to hold onto with this human around, and so he stays by their side whenever he can. They seem almost enchanted by him too, Beel being different from how most humans present themselves at the time. A common curiosity is what holds the two together, really.

Belphegor stays the same as he is in game. When the two eventually do bond, its because of Beel, and because all of his brothers are already so attached to the MC. He wanders around silently for the first few days he’s able to, watching them read with Satan or sneak into Levi’s room to write letters together, listening to them laugh with Mammon and Beel, and play piano with Lucifer - it’d been so long since he’d heard that song, since he’d heard Lucifer sing like that. Its hard not to get attached, and he realises that there’s no ill will in their heart at all despite everything the demons had done. One day he’s in the planetarium, laying on the floor with his eyes closed, taking a break from watching the stars. The MC walks in and freezes when they see him there, and they lay a blanket over him before leaving, and it settles everything into place for him. He could trust them.

Diavolo throws a lot of balls / parties for everyone to get acquainted, and because he heard it was common in the Human Realm. He has the MC and other humans help to teach the brothers some dances, and in return the brothers and himself teach them dances common in the Devildom. This sparks a jealousy between the brothers, who have all in one way or another, started to become attached to the MC. It becomes a silent battle of who can ask them to dance first, who gets to spend the most time with them, and so on.

Diavolo himself joins in if only to see the brothers reactions, and to see how well his plans have all worked out. The human seems content, seems to feel safe, and they smile calmly up at him and he feels guilty because he himself has accidentally caused harm to their kind before. How can they look up at him as if they’re safe in his arms, how can they laugh as the two dance together, practicing and developing a new dance that combines human and demon tradition together to form something new, to begin a new era? He relaxes over time, especially with Barbatos’ guidance and input. The plans are working and the MC is happy, and he feels like both are equal accomplishments.

Barbatos himself is happy to watch it all from the sidelines. He trusts that Diavolo will lead things where they need to go, and if anything happens, he knows he himself is capable of taking care of it. He finds himself curious about the human, who has settled into a life so different from what it had been. He doesn’t get too involved, but regularly brings them treats and, if he passes them at RAD, asks about how they’re doing. He mainly keeps Diavolo updated on anything he notices.

The angels aren’t brought into the picture yet, but a second exchange program is held shortly after that involves the Celestial Realm as well, and both Simeon and Luke quickly grow attached to the MC. They’ve helped so much with settling the Devildom and helping peace grow between the realms. Luke clings to them and asks about how they can cope around so many demons, and enjoys participating when they bake or draw or paint. Simeon’s interest is quieter, and he mostly enjoys watching how they interact with Lucifer, and seeing what traditions they have kept from the human world. Like Satan and Levi, he finds them to be an inspiration, and asks if he can write a story based on them.

okay first of all Yes i do and ill get into it in a few but if u want more matt/dan content u can follow my most lovely friend @chaosofbattle bc they've posted abt this a lot before and are really into matt n dan both as a couple and as individual characters :]

starting with matt!!! it's not necessarily a behavioral / personality headcanon but moreso a rant on how i hate that people forget matt is canonically alternative (punk!) and pretty open about it too. i feel like people often can't seem to imagine a character so majorly hced as black as more than one thing and push him into steorotypes a lot as if black alt people don't exist, and it's truly a pity because black and brown people litetally created most of what we consider alternative today! that being said. it's time for a MATT FASHION MOODBOARD 🗣🗣🗣‼‼

i think matt would fall into the intersection between camp and post-punk where it's just (gender) fuckery enough that you can't tell whether these people are unironically dressing like this or just fucking with bypassers. following that hc i think it's very in character to say that matt cares a lot about how he looks and presents himself, but he's long past the age of caring about what other people think of him, so i believe he goes buckwild with gender fuckery as much and as often as he can. for fun. to see who gets uncomfortable

the post-punk scene is very inherently androgynous and that combined by how much black men (especially in hiphop!) have contributed to ending toxic masculinity in fashion, i think it's safe to say matt is by far one of the most visibly alternative foxes, which i LOVE. nothing better than walking on campus at 8am and seeing a 6'4 man in full punk attire and dark ass heavy makeup :) feels just like home

i also really like the idea of matt and dan being visually contrasting!!!!!!!!! if matt is leaning towards a heavy alternative look, dan is a lot more on the casual / athletic side. i think especially for team events and things as such dan would not bother to throw on more than baggy sweatpants and a shirt, so when she goes out with matt people obviously stare because he's all dressed up and dan looks like she just got out of bed 😭 they never look like they're going to the same event and it's an ongoing inside joke with the upperclassmen

a lot of what they match in is actually hair!!!!!! while dan is definitely not as invested in her appearance as matt is, i really like the idea of her being very careful and tender not just with her hair but also matt's (& her other friends as well). she'll have him on a chair in the middle of the dorm, very clearly fighting to stay awake, as she oils his scalp and helps him with a protective hairstyle for his curls :^) dan is always clumsy with tenderness, a lot more than matt is, but the way she is so careful and methodic taking care of people makes her love very clear and explicit

the only time dan dresses up is for Important exy events and...... yeah. she goes to allison. it is ALWAYS a shitshow but only because allison is so unapologetic and so funny and so willing to spend a shitton of money in pretty dresses and shit for dan even if she knows dan won't wear them. dan doesn't like being pampered and she will always be difficult about allison trying to buy her things, but when it's just the two of them it feels so nice to just Be for some time. no obligations nor strong facades to put up just allison and her loud ass witchy cackle

WISTCRIA’S GUIDE TO PLOTTING.

I was joking when I made a post asking if anyone needed a guide to plotting, but the response was surprisingly positive, so here I go! I’ve never really written a writing guide before, so bare with me as I do my best! QUICK DISCLAIMER: this is just my advice from experience and personal opinion! 

Plotting is a pretty universal thing, regardless of whether you’re a 1x1 rper, a group roleplayer, or writing on indie. However, this guide will be more geared towards indie and group roleplayers, as 1x1 roleplayers automatically get a lot of plotting done when coming up with their plot. 

Without further ado, here’s my guide to plotting! 

01. JUMPING INTO IT: I wish there was a better way to describe and explain this but there’s no better way to plot than simply approaching someone and doing one of two things: a) offering up some base ideas you had or b) asking if there’s ever been any plot for their muse(s) they’ve always wanted to do that your own character(s) can fulfill. This is easiest when you find either a commonality between muses, or a key difference. Plots and threads move best when there is action or tension in a thread. This can be literal, as in an argument based on this difference, or prompted by a shared interest. For example, were I writing Ariel and trying to plot with an Aladdin, I might mention that they both are outcasts in a sense and perhaps that can be something we develop together. Alternatively, I might mention that because Ariel is a mermaid and Aladdin lives on land, maybe their cultural differences inspire misunderstandings! 

( A quick note on reciprocation: I’m going to touch on this later but roleplay is a two way street. I’ve seen many people complain about not having plots when I know for a fact they don’t reach out to others. Always try to reflect on the last time you approached someone for a plot: if you’re noticing that your friends are always approaching you, then there’s something to consider there. ) 

02. BACK AND FORTH HCS. This is the quickest and easiest way to get into the groove with a new writing partner. In a lot of ways, plotting is a form of improv, and nothing helps it more than the yes, and rule. When your partner proposes something, try to always build on it! If it’s out of character, always make note of that and let them know, but provide an alternative course of action so that the conversation is always generating something you can build on in your threads. Your goal here is to develop rich character dynamics, interpersonal development and learn more about your muse! Back and forth headcanoning can look something like this:

RPER 1: omg imagine them just comparing stories together?  RPER 2: YES! Talking about both feeling outcasted? RPER 1: yess and like, ariel would just feel so seen and I could see her also just being so shook over all that sand everywhere like if they went into the dessert or flied on the carpet? RPER 2: ngl I don’t think aladdin would fly the carpet with someone other than jasmine, but they can definitely go riding in the dessert! RPER 1: nice!! i can’t wait to write this :D 

And there you’ve developed a neat idea for a first thread without having to deal with all the awkward first meeting niceties. 

03. GATHERING INSPO. One of the things that helps most is finding external inspiration and using it as a source for a plot, for character motivations or behavior. For example, if I was writing Ariel against Aladdin, I might send them gifsets to spur conversation, which often leads into effortless back and forth headcanoning. If you’re lacking inspiration think of your favorite shows, songs, movies, books... think of all the worlds you wish you lived in and apply them to your character. If you’re really stuck, try a random plot generator / scene generator. Pick a random word from the dictionary and try to build a scenario around it! 

04. A FEW TIPS ON WHAT TO AVOID. Nothing kills the mood faster than an unresponsive partner. Having been there myself, it feels terrible when you’re the only one who seems to be putting in the effort. Don’t expect your partner to be the only one with ideas. Even if it’s something silly, don’t be shy! A silly idea can grow into something really cool and unique if you give it a shot, and even if it’s silly, those are often the most fun threads! Also, try not to respond with “filler responses” such as “oh bet” and “it be like that” and Good God please not, “haha yes”. Like, I know we say these words a lot, but they don’t contribute anything to the conversation, and from experience I can say they’re very disheartening and can often make your partner feel like they’re pulling all the work. 

05. AN ADDITIONAL NOTE. Sometimes there will come a day where the people you plot with won’t be all that responsive. It happens! If you come across the dreaded deadpan responses, don’t take it to heart. There can be a number of reasons why. And sometimes people are bad responders: try to be patient and in the mean time, focus your energy on plotting with other people who are more readily available! 

FINALLY, all I can say is treat plotting a little like making a new friend. Approach the situation wanting to learn more about your partner’s characters. Roleplay is a two way street, and what you give out will usually be returned back at you. Every person is different and will have a different plotting style, but hopefully with these few things in mind, plotting with others will be just a teenier bit easier.
