Geralt's doing his best to not let it show how deeply shaken he is but then he turns to Jaskier who's crying in a way that Geralt's never seen him cry: it's not him drunk and weepy, not heartbroken over his latest romantic woes - he's just full on devastated, scared and stunned are so palpably anguished, opening his arms towards Geralt like he needs a hug or he'll completely fall apart

but then he holds Geralt like he's afraid Geralt's about to dissolve into mist in his arms, like if he just manages to hold him tight enough he can ground him on this plane, and Geralt can't help but clutch at him with just as much desperation
