Bonjour, it's Shy for sure!
Apologies for my late comment I had not been notified of that update earlier >:(
I gotta say you really like ripping out my heart huh?? Poor Dumbdog, left out in the cold like that...
Wonder when he noticed others were there, how much joy but also fear there must have been, especially because he must feel he can't approach them after what happened with his friends...
On that note, who were his friends? If that isn't too spoilery to ask of course!
Also, wouldn't they have sort of helped Yeti after he died, at least getting off the barb wire, even if they assume he is gonna revive? 🤔 Especially if they think that? Did they knew he wasn't going to? Were they afraid to touch the body?
Please tell me, they're gonna take Dumbdog with them this time. 🙏 Or at least get him some help so he can be rescued later, this poor wolf man deserves better!
You know, now that I think about it, why didn't he join their team? Fear of being ostracized? The thought that he can do more good if he stays hidden until they need him, sort of like an ace in the sleeve?
If all of them left and Yeti as the traitor was bad, does that mean there is one baddie and one baddie only in Zes group as well? We know Tay is safe, she's defector. She wouldn't have shot Chilled if she was evil, that would have been a very dumb move. Chilled isn't evil either, judging by him literally dying and reviving in front of Ze. Well, at least dying in front of him.
So we got potential for evil in Shubble, Cheesy, Platy, Toast and Aphex. I would love to take Shubble off the list but what if she's an evil medic? And Cheesy could be afraid of dying because his death is permanent!
I hope it isn't Platy, he was being so kind earlier and so supportive of the small wins. Which could be a play, of course. Same as Aphex's joy upon seeing Ze happier but tbh I feel like he's probably safe, unless he is going for the veryyyy long con. Which could be possible technically I guess, i don't know if Ze has seen Aphex die before.
I am side eying Toast very hard, not gonna lie, but we don't know enough about him to determine if he isn't innocent yet. I am keeping my eye on you, buddy.
Enough guessing, I know you probably can't answer all these questions because of spoilers anyway, but it is fun speculating! Especially to see what I thought in the end when everything is revealed!
Once again, I really vibe with the bromance combo, they're just so good, man. Chilled being lowkey scared is an interesting touch and I think it's sweet how he tries to not let it show as to not hurt Zes feelings. Or show a weakness to a person that's potentially dangerous, but I like to think it's the former.
Half-serious thought but if they turn into wolf-hybrids if they get killed by wolfs a lot, do they turn back if they're killed by humans a lot? 😳🤔
As an ace person, I really like the word Aceso but I am curious what it stands for. Is it a real thing?
Ze getting annoyed at being interrupted is so valid though, this group has a habit to do so, which is especially annoying if you try to get out vital information. I feel you, buddy.
Tay WAS right too! In a way at least. Don't know if it's the government yet, but still, they are curious and apparently ruthless as well.
Once again, you ended at a perfect cliffhanger which is honestly so mean T-T
Anyway, great chapter full of answers but also more questions, so I am excited for more!
Hope your day goes splendid!
Hi Shy!! Sorry for the more than late reply, had a bunch of life stuff going on :( Ty for reading and asking, I really appreciate it <3
I'm so sorry for hurting our boy ;-; I can’t imagine how scary that would be, like undeniable trauma and then fear when he sees other people. I wasn’t sure whether to write in names for his friend group, because I did actually watch a bunch of old DumbDog PW streams and it was lots of NLSS crew. Yeti never played with them but I know he likes the game and he’s played with Ze’s group before I believe. I think Skadj and the lots of NLSS members would be his friends, but I don’t have plans to write that!
I’m not sure how much of the blackout DLC you’ve seen but I wrote yeti to be a Whisperer traitor role essentially, although the game mechanic of having the job pass on to another once the first Whisp dies is… difficult to figure out in the written context. I didn’t write too much of the group’s attitude, but essentially they had become so dispassionate towards humans and their lives that they probably didn’t care for Yeti once they saw him dead. It might also be that they assumed he would revive regardless of their intervention, and escape his own way via his connections.
Dumbdog’s fate is in my hands and I want him to be happy, but I can’t make promises for his story <3 I can only imagine the distrust he might feel, even after meeting Ze, for a group that clearly has a traitor in it (which he heard from Ze, and also found him incapacitated with the bear trap)
Traitors not being able to revive after death might be a certain point of contention in future chapters, because as you said it does potentially rule certain members of the group out! Maybe a few of them have seen each other die before, or maybe they’re lying about it? I know I’ve focused on certain characters more than others, but betrayal in a friend group is sure to sting regardless. After Chilled, Aphex has known Ze the longest, but that might not mean much when it comes down to it.
I am an unquestionable bromance fan and love writing them. In recent streams I’ve noticed that evil or good, Chilled has a soft spot for Ze that he doesn’t for others, so I wanted to write that in for sure. He’s loud and paranoid and a sicko (affectionate) but I think he can be softer for Ze!
The effects of being killed by humans a lot is… an unknown, but I wrote a small addition in my initial post way back that maybe a certain someone would be interested in that idea and how it relates to retaining humanity :o
Aceso/Akeso was a goddess of wound cures :D I was shopping around for ideas for what a forum might be called relating to immortality and thought it sounded pretty! There’s probably more suitable names or more deeper meanings but honestly I just liked the idea :)
Ze gets interrupted and talked over so much and I relate so hard to his frustration! I love writing alongside things that have happened in real life and thought it was a nice detail.
Sometimes Tay has some really good intuition, I only hope it leads her to the right conclusions…
Sorry for the cliffhanger, I’m glad you enjoyed, and thank you so much for the ask <3 I hope you have a great day!!

GOT: The exhausting march towards the dramatic TWIST
I think I’m going to shock people with this statement but ... out of all the season 8 episodes we’ve seen so far, episode 4 is by far my favorite.
Now don’t get too excited by the seemingly warm tone ... what I mean by favorite is that I hated it less than episode 1 through 3, which is about as high a praise as I’m likely going to have for this debacle that is season 8.
General impressions:
There are two reasons why I felt this episode was better than the last 3:
1. It was more focused, with 3 clear storylines: D*ny’s war for the crown (story A), Jon’s and his family continuing to be dead inside (story B), Jaime’s return to his sister-lover (story C). This kind of focus and definite structure should be a given. However GOT decided to go all yolo on our asses this season and as we’ve already covered in my other reviews, it’s gotten to the point where I’m genuinely shocked to see an episode that doesn’t jump from plot point to plot point like an enraged orangutan on ecstasy.
2. It was centered around this woman:
Tumblr media
Look at that face... Holy Shit! She’s going to give me nightmares!
Now, normally an episodes focused on D*ny would be bad news for me because I don’t particularly care for her, as half of my list of metas can conclusively prove.
However, since she’s the only character whose POV isn’t hidden and her scenes aren’t cut short or drained of any and all possibility of actual human emotion, she’s become the only character that I can watch without feeling frustrated, confused or on the verge of an anxiety attack. I actually like to know what the hell is happening on screen and what the character wants in any given scene. Call it a pet peeve of mine.
Although even D*ny, as well rounded a character as she is, suffers from the Ds oscillating trend this season. Last episode, D*ny stood her ground against the NK, committed herself and her armies to the defense of the realm and saved Jon’s life. This episode, she’s back in full Mad King’s daughter mode, with a pinch of Viserys on the side.
But that’s a quibble, honestly and you can always argue that Jorah’s death really pushed D*ny into a dark place in which the crown of Westeros and her war against Cersei becomes more important than her own humanity.
However, what isn’t a quibble is that death seems to have become a shorthand device the Ds employ to signal D*ny’s eventual rise as Queen of the Ashes. She loses Jorah in episode 3 and by the end of episode 4, she loses both Rhaegal and Missandei as well, leaving her in a seeming cliffhanger over whether or not to put the Red Keep to the torch as revenge.
The problem is that D*ny had been chopping at the bit to burn down King’s Landing since season 7 when she had to be talked out of doing just that TWICE. This episode Tyrion once again has to put the breaks on D*ny’s fiery fantasies.
youtube
This scene right here is a treasure trove of Mad D*ny clues. But let’s focus on two of them. Firstly, the impetuous to burn KL is stil there:
D*ny: We will hit her hard. We will rip her out root and stem.
Tyrion: The objective here is to remove Cersei without destroying King’s Landing.
Tumblr media
That is not a happy face ...
As D*ny put’s it, they need the capital because otherwise Cersei can continue calling herself the queen of the 7 kingdoms.
That’s D*ny’s priority, folks: the acquiring of that stupid title.
And if she has to march her weakened army, her sick dragon/child for thousands of miles and burn thousands of innocent people to get that title, she’ll do it.
Considering this set-up, why exactly did we need Missandei and Rahegal to die? One day into Tyrion’s proposed blockade and D*ny would be roasting giant marshmallows in the Red Keep gardens.
In my opinion,  the reasons for killing Rhaegal and Missandei are not tied to the dark!dany arc at all. Instead, Rhaegal gets killed because they want to make the D*ny/Cersei conflict as even as possible so they’re eliminating one of D*ny’s weapons of mass destruction.
And Missandei ... poor Missandei gets killed in order to shock the audience. There is absolutely no reason to kill her in this way ... If she was to die, the time for that would have been in episode 3. They have to actually push the suspension of disbelief in order to convince the audience that somehow Euron got a hold of this girl from an armada of wrecked ships, instantly knew how important she was, dragged her back to the Red Keep and then brought her up on that wall expecting .... what??!
Euron and Cersei are far too smart to believe D*ny will give up her war for Missandei so why kill her so publicly? To intimidate D*ny? They didn’t need Missandei for that. They could have just as well beheaded all of the hostages they took from the ships.
They kill Missandei because that’s the easiest way for the Ds to surprise the audience and for them to garner some sort of sympathy for D*ny when she eventually does end up going all Pablo Escobar on a city filled with a million people.
The other glaring Mad D*ny moment in the scene and one that plays straight into political Jon, is this:
Sansa: The men we have left are exhausted. Many of them are wounded. They will fight better if they have time to rest and recuperate.
D*ny: How long do you suggest?
Sansa: Can’t say for certain. Not without talking to the officers.
D*ny: I came North to fight alongside you. At great cost to my armies and myself. And now that the time has come to reciprocate, you want to postpone?
Tumblr media
Jon: The Northern forces will honor their promises and their allegiance to the queen of the 7 kingdoms. What you command, we will obey.
I’ve seen a lot of people being angry at Jon for “taking D*ny’s side” in this conflict but in order to understand how this plays into political Jon, there are 2 things you need to keep in mind:
The first is exactly when Sansa intervenes in the conversation. She steps in directly after both Tyrion and Jon manage to convince D*ny not to burn down King’s Landing. D*ny reluctantly agrees to the blockade because that would mean having to wait to take the crown and as she puts it:
D*ny: The longer I leave my enemies alone, the stronger they become.
Now Sansa wants to delay her even further. This is not acceptable to D*ny.
In addition to that, I don’t think Sansa appreciates just how dangerous and volatile D*ny is. She doesn’t know about the men being fed to dragons, or the 163 crucified masters or how close she was to jumping on a dragon and burning down KL in the past.
Jon, however, does understand D*ny quite well by this point. I don’t buy his speech as him agreeing with D*ny at all in this scene and considering this is the face he puts on to silence Sansa:
Tumblr media
I’d say this is a guy desperately trying to keep a bomb from exploding directly in the face of someone he cares very deeply about.
Narratively, I believe this is supported by the Sansa/Tyrion scene later on when Sansa is surprised to realize that Tyrion is actually afraid of D*ny. She simply hadn’t considered that people are scared of what D*ny might do.
As interesting as D*ny’s descent into madness is (despite Missandei’s useless death), it’s counterbalanced by the shit show that continues to be Jon Snow.
Watching Jon’s arc this season, and by extension all the Starks, is like banging your head against a concrete wall over and over again, without making a dent. It’s pointless, exhausting and painful.
At this point I don’t care if he’s in love with D*ny or Sansa, if he’s pol!Jon or idiot!Jon, if he wants to be king or fuck off beyond the wall. I genuinely don’t care anymore. What I do care about is being given access to Jon’s story enough to figure out what the hell he wants and what he’s doing.
It’s one thing to keep a character’s POV hidden for an episode but we’re going on almost 2 seasons now. And Jon isn’t a secondary character like Littlefinger where you can get away with hiding the POV because he’s not as big a part of the plot as a main character is.
But Jon is a main character and this effort to keep him enigmatic and mysterious isn’t only wreaking havoc on his arc but it’s also affecting the rest of the Stark family. Case and point:
youtube
In case anyone is keeping score, this is actually the first and only scene all the Starks have together in 4 episodes, amounting to 5 hours of footage.
And just look where they decide to end this scene! Right when we’re going to see Arya and Sansa react to the parentage reveal and see what they and Jon discuss next. They gave us the mere bones of this scene and left us without the meat.
The important part of the scene, the emotional underbelly, the opportunity to see these people come together and support and embrace Jon as the Stark they still think he is, is taken away from us. Because that would chip away at the mystery surrounding Jon’s arc this season.
I’d argue depriving Jon and the Starks of the emotional bond they share is way too steep a price to pay for what is essentially a cheap thirll that becomes cheaper and cheaper by the minute considering they’re delaying whatever reveal they’re planning on making past the point of me giving a shit!
This episode did, however, give me the perfect visual way of describing Jon’s storyline right now. Jon is basically stuck between:
Tumblr media
and
Tumblr media
and he chooses neither.
He sends Ghost away (without patting him because having KH and the wolf in the same frame would be too costly for the overly expensive GOT) and refuses to ride Rhaegal because ... reasons.
So instead of seeing him choose between being a direwolf and a dragon, we’re seeing him do nothing, while looking overly enigmatically blank for 5 hours straight. I just .... I’m sooooo tired of this. Can this be over now?
PS: I’d discuss Jaime’s storyline this episode but I don’t want to say: I told you so ... Well ... ok, if you insist:
a little sour milk dribble on Tormund’s beard and a silly giant story isn’t going to make me forget that Jaime has arrived in Winterfell on the coat tails of a 20+ year toxic relationship with a woman who is not only his twin sister but is also currently pregnant with his baby.
Also:
Jaime: She (Cersei) has always been good at using the truth to tell lies. Don’t be too hard on yourself. She’s fooled me more than anybody.
Tyrion: She never fooled you. You always knew exactly what she was. And you loved her anyway.
Yeah …  Imagine entering a relationship with a guy exiting THAT. Dealing with sour milk beard is mild by comparison.

The “If you love me, you’ll erase yourself” scene:
youtube
There is something so deeply disturbing about this scene that I can’t help but be fascinated by it. The J0nereys relationship has always been toxic and this scene right here encapsulates just why:
In order to be with D*ny, Jon needs to give up everything that makes him who he is. In season 7, he was forced to bend the knee and suffer the ire of the entire North for it. Now D*ny is asking him not only to give up his claim but also lie about who he is and separate himself from his family in order to make sure that D*ny gets to be queen.
No one, not one person in this world, no matter how beautiful, rich, good in bed or seemingly in love with you, is worth you giving up who you are and removing yourself from your family (provided said family is not toxic, of course). And anyone that would ask you to do that, should be dumped on their asses pronto.
Jon can’t do that, unfortunately. Because he’s brought D*ny here to fight “his war” and pretended to be in love with her. And also because D*ny simply isn’t rational anymore. So he’s stuck apologizing for people liking him (just think about that!) and having to put up with her saying things like:
D*ny: It doesn’t matter what you want! You didn’t want to be king in the North! What happens when they demand you press your claim and TAKE WHAT IS MINE?
Except the crown isn’t D*ny’s. It never was. Logistically speaking, the crown belongs to Cersei right now. Legitimately, the crown is Jon’s. It’s D*ny that is actually taking what is his, not the other way around. Imagine making someone apologize for you doing that to them. That’s all kinds of messed up.
Speaking of which:
Jon: You are my queen! I don’t know what else I can say!
D*ny: You can say nothing! To anyone! Ever! Never tell them who you really are. Swear your brother and Samwell Tarly to secrecy and tell no one else!
You know what she sounds like? Like Tangled’s Mother Gothel convincing Rapunzel that she’s better off being her prisoner.
Tumblr media
Yikes! She’s genuinely terrifying!
Also:
D*ny: Sansa will want to see me gone and you on the Iron Throne.
Jon: She won’t.
D*ny: She’s not the girl you grew up with. Not after what she’s seen. Not after what they’ve done to her.
2 things:
1. I hope every D*ny stan in the universe either denounces D*ny for victim blaming or closes their mouths about feminism, misogyny and pitting women against women for the rest of time. If you support this woman and consider her a positive role model, you are not allowed to discuss these subjects in public ever again.
2. Can you really blame Jon for taking D*ny’s side against Sansa in the council meeting? He already knows just what D*ny thinks of Sansa and what she’d like to do to her if she is given the opportunity. Hurting Sansa’s feelings is preferable to her losing her life.
The “This better not be unrequited love, Ds!” scene:
youtube
This face right here ... this face:
Tumblr media
It’s heartbreaking. And what really angers me about this scene is that it could have been all the more meaningful had the parentage reveal been played in full. Actually seeing Sansa reacting, hearing Jon’s fears or his anguish, would make her fighting for his crown when he refuses to do so even more powerful and romantically charged.
Still, this scene comes in direct contrast to the Jon/D*ny scene. While D*ny wants to force Jon to live a lie for the rest of his life, to humble himself and make himself small so she can have all the power and the love of the people, Sansa not only shoots down the possibility of her being the only one in charge of the North and holding steadfast to the idea that Jon will stay in Winterfell. She goes as far as tell Tyrion Jon is the rightful heir when she realizes that despite his supposed loyalty to D*ny, Tyrion is actually afraid of her.
She sees an opening to ensure Jon’s freedom and she takes it without hesitation.
If, at the end of all of this, Jon ends up going beyond the wall instead of staying with a woman who loves and values him this much, then Westeros truly is a cruel and horrible place and I’ll be sorry I invested so many years of my life to it.
Episode MVPs
Euron “Best General in fucking Westeros” Greyjoy:
Tumblr media
Euron gets to be MVP this episode because in one fell swoop he destroyed D*ny’s fleet and brought down one of her dragons. What can I say ... Competency really turns me on.
Too bad Cersei doesn’t love him. If these two actually cared about each other, they could be the McBeths of Westeros. Nothing could stand in their way!
Lord “What an Icon!” Varys:
Tumblr media
What can one say about this glorious man? He is MVP for the second time in 4 reviews and somehow I think he’s not done yet.
Varys and Tyrion got down to some realpolitick this episode. But Varys had some truly outstanding lines, like:
Varys: How many others know?
Tyrion: Including us? Eight.
Varys: Well, then it’s not a secret anymore. It’s information. If a handful of people know now, hundreds will know soon.
It’s so rare to find a man that understands gossip so well!
Varys: I’ve served tyrants all my life. They all talk about destiny.
As a person born under a communist regime, I concur, Varys.
And my personal favorite:
Varys: You know where my loyalty stands. You know I will never betray the realm.
Tyrion: What is the realm? A vast continent, home to millions of people, most of whom don’t care who sits on the Iron Throne.
Varys: Millions of people, many of whom will die if the wrong person sits on that throne. We don’t know their names but they’re just as real as you and I. They deserve to live. They deserve food for their children. I will act in their interests, no matter the personal cost.
Tumblr media
If this show doesn’t end with a 7 foot, cockless statue of Varys presiding over the whole of Westeros as the ICON that he is, what was even the point?!?!?

if you want: boi this is some Grade A yaoi dom/sub shit > this is a review of both the 1992 and the 2012 versions
So upon seeing this anime in my PTW i was thoroughly confused. I like yaoi from time to time but I don’t actively look for it. Then I suddenly remembered; one of my friends in like 8th grade was bugging me constantly to watch this because it’s “so HOT NGHNGHGH”. Well Fruzsi it’s been like 7 years now but I finally watched it!
The story is set in some futuristic world in another planet. The society is ruled by machines and the Blondies that were created by them (I think, I actually read this part on wikipedia). There’s a district where men with no official government identifiaction live and they’re called “mongrels” and are considered the lowest of the low.
In this society the Blondies keep certain humans as pets and furnitures (basically sex slaves and worker slaves). Our main character Riki is a mongrel and has a run in with a Blondie. NSFW things happen and Riki becomes the Blondie’s (Iason’s) pet for 3 years after which he is allowed to go back to the Slums for a year.
So let me begin with the original 1992 version. The animation and art are as you would expect from anime from this time. The Slums are mostly dark with vivid colours giving the neon and futuristic feel. Tanagura (the “capital”) is mainly shades of white to give the feeling of purity and perfectionism. The characters are wonky however. Actually good character designs basically stop at the 3-4 main characters with secondary characters basically being indistinguishable.
Just like the colours, the music also plays a big role. The lack of background music can actually be distracting at times but the anime only uses tracks when it really wants to give another layer to the events happening on screen. Voice acting is decent but with more emotional scenes some of the performances were uhhh....unintentionally funny.
The pacing is off. The 1992 version consists of 2 almost 1 hour long episodes. In the first one we join in at the time when Riki is let back into the Slums by Iason and we follow him in the present. Then the second one is divided between flashbacks and advancing towards the ending. You’d think that Ai no Kusabi would be giving you steaming hot yaoi action but in reality there’s barely any NSFW content in the first episode; the majority of it is spent by fleshing out the world.
While quite a lot happens, the character development is lackluster. The anime feels more like just events happening after each other because the plot demands it and not because of a natural flow of the characters actions.
The 2012 version is an improvement in certain areas and a downgrade in others. The most glaring change is obviously the art and animation. It’s GORGEOUS. Not only is the animation fluid but the character designs of the secondary characters got a huge haul-over. They no longer look like clones of each other but like they have their own character. They went to extreme length with this; even the facial structure of characters were completely different.
Somewhat of a downgrade would be the music which is...fine. Just fine. The OST sounds like it came off of “free-copyright-music.net”.
The 2012 version consists of 4 25 minute episodes. It is much slower than the original version and goes much more in depth on the story. It also doesn’t have an ending....yep. As it turns out this was supposed to be 12 OVAs long but they discontinued it due to financial reasons (seems like creating HQ sex scenes dries up money fast).
It is dissapointing as I was just getting into the groove of it by episode 4 and then just bamm, it’s over. Oh and one thing to mention; in one of the episodes there’s just a random conversation in which Riki tells his age and he says that he is 15...UMMM??? SO i know that the Blondies don’t really have ages or whatever but this made me immENSELY uncomfortable so I’m just choosing to think that Riki has been like 18-20 when the story starts, alright? Alright.
SOOOOO...I don’t really know what else to say. You like yaoi and this dom/sub slave whatever fetish thing you’ll probably enjoy this? It is unfinished...but the episodes made are still great quality and there’s always the manga? [6/10] (x) [6/10] (x)

if you want: something really edgy that doesn’t have a purpose besides being edgy
Mahu Shoujo Site is godawful.
This “dark magical girls” trope is starting to get on my nerves. They usually have no point besides giving enjoyment to sick fucks who enjoy seeing little girls in horrible situations. Oh and also to the people who think “dark, depressing and gorey = d e ep”.
So, I obviously caught notice of this the first time I saw it as I’m always interested in magical girl stuff. And if you’ve read my previous reviews you know that this usually doesn’t go very well. Anyway, even from the summary I knew that this was going to be edgy but how much? Well I read the first review on MAL on it and lowkey scarred me into ignoring this anime. In the end, curiosity won out and I really wanted to see how much of a trainwreck MSS actually was.
I feel like a summary of the first episode would scare a lot of people away as it shows a lot of really cruel stuff that many people are sensitive to. Which would be: the apparent murder of a kitten to fuck with main character (not actually shown), the main character getting severely bullied and beaten at school by 3 of her classmates, her big brother tying her up and beating her (and punching her in the stomach) at home and at the very end some dude almost rapes her. Oh and the main character is like some 14yo little girl.
Whew. Ticks off all the “ew wtf” boxes, doesn’t it? Well rest assured the anime NEVER goes into this level of cruelty again. There are no animals in the anime after episode one. *Spoilers* happen to the bullies which also mostly takes them out of the picture after episode 2 and our main character is barely home or if she is then she is with friends which makes his brother unable to beat her.
All this was just used to show how “unfortunate” she is so that she will be made into a magical girl as in MSS only girls who have had to deal with a lot of pain are eligible to become magical girls. OOOO edgy.
Then they have their weapons which are stupidly all named “sticks” even though they can be whatever (gun, phone, yoyo, panties...). And speaking of sticks, using them eats up the girls’ life forces...OOOO edgy. Have I mentioned that whenever they “transform” they HAVE to bleed from somewhere? Like eyes, nose, head...OOOOOOOOO edgy!!!!
We’ve a main cast of characters who get some personality but then we’re introduced to a second set of characters who literally have one personality trait each, plus their powers which makes me give approximately 0 fucks about whether they live or die.
The animation is quite poor, the OST is unremarkable and they seem to use the same 3 tracks in every episode (the OP and ED songs are bangers however) and the voice acting also leaves much to be desired but the VA’s did as much with the script as they could.
The worst part is that the anime kinds of ends on a cliffhanger. Even from the opening I was expecting some grand battle but nope. There’s a plot twist which made me go “HMM” but that’s about it. So you sit through this shitfest and don’t even get a proper conclusion. Any enjoyment you could take away from this is seeing just how much bullshit they can put into these 12 episodes.
The characters you can grow to care for. Mostly because they’re SET UP to be pitied and babied, but my thought regarding them is “you didn’t deserve to be in this pile of garbage of an anime”. (x) [2/10]

Reactions to leaked SDCC clip
crosspoast from spacebattles
True but I’m under the impression Blue D would still loom over Pink’s palanquin even if standing side by side.
Like from what I see,  Blue would at least be almost twice Pink’s probable height.
And from what I can gather, it’d be a funny visual to have Yellow/Blue at their giant size try to fit in the Pink Palanquin.
Edit: oh, yeah also the distance between Blue and the palanquin doesn’t seem so vast as to change up my size estimates.
Em, I think the rule of thumb the Crewniverse use is, “ as long as certain characters are still smaller/taller then others then it’s fine”.
So as long as Garnet stands taller then Pearl, Pearl taller then Greg, etc. It'd  be fairly ok.
Ha consistant sizing in Steven Universe? oh you poor Sweet Summer child. No they don’t even keep a relative Heights consistent, something that you figure they would do if only in order to make sure they are conveying the proper impact of the characters influence. They really do just change things up scene-by-scene. they’re consistent within an episode, mostly, but sometimes between scenes it’ll really switch or even btwn shots. this is something that’s been mocked by some of the more eagle-eyed fans
As for trying to figure out the mystery of Steven Universe? Quite frankly I’m in the cylons had no plan territory period
As so long as they’re telling actual good stories that follow through on their setups thent I’m okay.  the problem is they repeatedly shy away from that or come up with excuses or some of their setups have undermined where the story is headed currently. so it’s going to have to really win me back. And honestly I am a little surprised about my emotions here.
I can actually point on places where I’m satisfied how things have gone. But I guess that’s it. Everything that I was dissatisfied with got corrected but it’s come to a rather conclusive end. there’s more happening but nothing else is going to seriously change. Whereas the stuff that they’re moving towards is the kind of stuff that I think I never quite liked and I know it’s going to piss me off if only for “Oh now we’re going to do this and treat it as if we’re going to do it seriously.”
I guess mainly I feel put off because I like the end of the third season with Steven confronting some of the difficult truths about his own mother and the Gem conflict.  However a lot of season 4 felt like a lot of circle walking because instead of actively exploring that, despite strong setup in order to get into character motivation, we spent a lot of time saying “we’re going to do stuff” but only starting to do stuff.
There’s this period of time in Avatar The Last Airbender where everyone’s really waiting on this character to come to this one emotional moment. but the character made a critical decision so we keep seeing them confront the results of this decision but they don’t actually work at through it.  Suddenly by the mid-season climax happens and the character succeeds in deciding to reverse their decision and they’re totally resolved to this and everything’s fine (everyone else fails for not preparing or realizing their flaws and needs this person to win). A key aspect of the character development was actually cut out and then put in a flashback at the end of the season.
When someone pointed out this was problem to me they analogized about how we were seeing a character effectively tread water only the Quantum Leap to a solution at the end. I then noticed that this happens a lot with dramatic and melodramatic storytelling. It’s very notorious in scifi and Cliffhanger shows.  They’ll do everything to act as if there’s going to be this complete crisis at the season finale but come next season almost everything will be reversed if not in that Season Premiere episode but possibly within the first three or four. Stargate Universe literally deus ex machina a lot of its first Seasons finale in the season 2 premiere. Supernatural had the season of The Deanmon last an amazing four episodes during which Dean beat up a bunch of douchebag humans, killed demons, and had sex with random women (but not lovestarved sexpredator Crowley). You know all the stuff that you do when you are high off the cosmic evil of the universe. Well I mean dean started to drink a lot some more which he already did
I think Steven Universe has gotten into this votex only in some ways it’s worse. One thing, it keeps on setting up these crises that should lead to Major character development. But then they do a swerve and we’re sort of back where we started. And some of these don’t say a lot of things good. Cuz I suppose things have changed but we’ve just started to become more aware of how bad things are. From the relationship of Greg and the gems to Steven’s mom to Stevens own psychology …it’s a lot of things
I just feel like so much is done in order to blatantly course-correct in certain places. And frankly I guess since I liked the season 3 finale so much and with characters saying that they’ll commit to truth but then not doing so and then we find out that Rose might not have killed pink diamond or some ridiculous complexity about it and you know what? I just feel as if the show is losing me.
They’ve done this whole “We’re going to set something up and pay off on it later” thing since episode 1. Well I’ve stuck with you for about five seasons now. I’ve got to be honest you miss a lot of opportunities and go in directions that I just really find obnoxious and disappointing. More importantly the direction that you’re hinting with this sdcc clip indicates that we could have gone in this direction better with more developed characters and a more careful pacing.
Overall I’m curious and kind of want the show to end on a good note but I kind of feel as if we’re going too fast and too weird of Direction. That weare going to get get another disappointing swerve or surprise. Whether it’s like bismuth we’re totally going to hint that she’s going to come back yo” Or it’s going to be practically every dropped Ronaldo plotline so that instead when he shows up he can be yet another scourging of nerd social foilbles
But that’s just stuff that I prefer. I think stuff you can objectively say that they’ve cheated on. Stuff like lapis or Peridot. Who defect and then join but don’t really join so that that way we can keep the same dynamic.
Too much of the show is set up just so that we have Mysteries and then they have an episode like Lion4 where it’s like, “no the Mysteries don’t matter it’s all about the Journey of being a human being we swear!”
And it just feels that I don’t know like they want to have their cake and eat it too.
