Yui's mother Yukina
Her personality
Yui's personality is very similar to her mother's and
She's the type if you hit me once we're done
But unlike her daughter her mother isn't as forgiving and does hold grudges and isn't a submissive
Her past
She was raised in a house of vampire Hunters and she was a vampire hunter herself as a young child although her parents were quite neglectful and harsh and only paid attention to her when they were training her to be a vampire hunter
but when she got pregnant as a teenager she found out how extreme
her parents were as they were extremely Catholic and
when they found out she was pregnant they kicked her out in the snow and her lover
Maku let her move in with him
as they got married and and he was there during the pregnancy
and tried his best to take care of her despite his busy schedule and he was ready to be a
father but work was getting more and more demanding as a hunter
so he left her the house and hundreds of dollars to keep her stable throughout the pregnancy and he left left he didn't want to leave her but there was a possibility that
she will get hurt as he knew he had bounty on his head which he could easily get rid of but he didn't want to take any chances
But when he left without saying a word it really hurt her because she thought he just abandoned her and just threw money in her face to keep her
quiet and out of his hair she hated him for that
but she still used the money as she really needed it since she couldn't work as a vampire Hunter and be pregnant at the same time so she did use the money and after 9 months went by
she gave birth to her daughter but she came to a terrible realization and that was her baby was born dead and desperately needed a heart transplant if the baby was to live and that's when she handed her baby to the doctor which she
didn't realize was a vampire named Richter and he was the one who helped perform the surgery and the reason cordelia's heart was implanted in
Yui and her mother realized she couldn't raise her little girl properly as she will go back to being a vampire in a couple of months so she took her
baby after being discharged from the hospital and bring her to the church that was taking in children it was a tough and painful process for her but she wanted her child to be looked after and to be cared and loved for which..... unfortunately those prayers were never answered

So like. Thoughts on the yyh live action (spoilers but like. That's obvious)
Tbh. The pacing was kinda rushed and I didn't like the wigs. But aside from that, it was a very enjoyable experience
Would I recommend it to someone who hasn't seen the original? Lmao absolutely not. I feel like this was an adaptation made for the people who were already fans. Certain characters (one of whom was simultaneously my bisexual awakening and my transgender awakening) were less focused on, which would make their impactful moments less,,,, impactful for a new viewer
I feel the biggest issue is that there are so few episodes that they couldn't get a whole series' worth of familiarity with the characters. Kurama's and hiei's big powerups happened in season two, and that's what made those moments so cool. By that point, we were already familiar with the characters (and thousands of filipino youth, myself included, had become bisexual because of dennis), so we got excited when these characters we already loved got cool powerups
All that said, the way they chose to compress the story was very cool. I really don't have much to say, aside from that. It was just really fun to watch all these familiar elements get put together in a new and exciting way. Even as someone who's been a fan since I was young, I was still caught off-guard by the changes and still found myself on the edge of my seat
And on that topic, the emotional moments really hit hard, and are really good at showing the depth of the characters, even within 5 episodes. When yusuke bad to fight his schoolmate, he was trying to get the demon insects out of him until the very end. When kuwabara finally broke the rock, it was because he wanted to be able to defend the people he cares about. The way yusuke and kurama had that common theme of dying and leaving their mothers to grieve (and it never gets brought up again!!! But we appreciate it nevertheless đ). Parallel of yusuke and toguro had me tearing up tbh
And let me just say, I SCREAMED when hiei showed yukina his necklace. I've been waiting for this moment since I was GRADE THREE GODDAMNIT
And also, as much as I hated the wigs, I really liked what they did with yusuke's and kurama's costumes. The change to yusuke's costume was small -- they really just had him wear his uniform top open, rather than closed -- but it gave him a more 'casual' appearance. He really did look the part of a highschool delinquent, someone who doesn't care about rules or customs (like wearing your uniform properly). And as for kurama's costume, I loved that they used a fabric with a flower brocade for (what seems to be) his designated outfit for demon business. They really went for the flower motif, and I 100% support. However I would have appreciated if they spent a little bit more of the costuming budget on getting my boy a good wig
I also liked what they did with keiko's character. In the original she was just kinda a love interest, which. I mean. Fuck me for expecting a personality from a woman in a 90s anime. But here, there's some rough edges to her that made me think, right, she's yusuke's childhood friend
Another thing I liked is how they did the fight scenes. Here's the thing, a good chunk of the cast are teenagers. And they have to face off against various yokai. Yokai who happen to be much stronger than them. Even considering their shooty slashy boom boom magic, they have to really strategize how they're gonna attack. I really love how they had the characters really make use of their surroundings. Vehicles!! Metal doors!! It was so cool!!
Finally. Effects pretty đ there were some gay moments which I super appreciated đ but they should've brought a child in to play koenma
#tbh i understand the criticisms#they definitely didn't use a lot of the characters to their full potential#but like. that's just what happens when they only had 5 episodes to work within#yu yu hakusho

Feeling Things (I Don't Want To)
Usagi has always been the girl that the boys run away from. The one who never gets a Valentine because they think she's weird. Voted "Most Likely to Be a Crazy Ex-girlfriend". But did Awase care? No.
Or: Awase has a crush Usagi and she can't handle it.
The license exam was Usagi's least favorite part of being in hero school. Not only would she have to work in a group, something someone like her dreaded doing, but there were also too many people she would have to interact with. She always hated that when it came to school.
But, she was with her friends Bofuu and Yukina so maybe this wasn't too bad.
"How much longer do we have to do this?" Usagi folded her arms as the other Shiketsu students got off the bus.
"Just for one more year. The seniors don't take these exams," Bofuu replied while stretching. As soon as Inasa stepped off the bus, she ran over and hugged him tightly.
"So," Yukina cocked her eyebrow. "When are you getting a boyfriend?"
"Please." Usagi rolled her eyes. They were about to take the most difficult and defining exam of the year and all Yukina could think about was when she was getting a boyfriend. "We know every boy would much rather eat glass than be my boyfriend. Bofuu will tell you that I was the only one who never had a secret admirer or got Valentine's presents."
Not having a boyfriend benefited her a lot; it allowed Usagi to retain her standards, which were fairly high (even for her) as well as her confidence. She was so sure that there was not a man in the world who would ever want to date her, not even for a joke.
"So what about that headband guy?"
"What headband guy?"
"The one with the welding Quirk from U.A. that you keep running into. Yesterday you told us that you ran into him at the mall."
Usagi scoffed. "He's too busy liking that Yaoyorozu girl to be with me. I don't even think he knows my name or what I look like anymore."
When Awase first told his friends that he was in love with Usagi Mahojo from Shiketsu, at first they were concerned. How could he have gone from crushing on Yaomomo to...her?
"Isn't she that pink girl who's always at war with herself?" Hiryu asked. "She's kinda scary if you ask me."
"She's really...intense." Tsuburaba shuddered as her voice rang in his head-- and that was from when they were first years.
"I know, but she's so...so beautiful." Awase remembered the complete awe he was in when he first saw Usagi. Her long, pastel pink hair that faded to blonde trailing down her sides, her cornflower blue eyes, and tanned skin. And don't even get him started on when she was in action. "I definitely think she deserves a chance. We keep running into each other all the time."
"That's true." Hiryu scratched his chin. "You did see her at the mall the other day, and before that you saw her at that boba shop."
"Well if that's what you think, then we support you." Kaibara patted his shoulder. "Just be ready for some type of conflict."
A year later and Awase was ready to make his feelings known. Now older and wiser, he figured that he'd cut out the middleman and tell her straight up.
In his hands was an envelope with a pink heart sticker as a seal, intended for her. Perfect too, as his eyes landed on his crush standing across the way from him.
You got this, Yosetsu!
Taking a deep breath, he made his way over to the woman. Once at a decent distance from her, he exhaled and let it all out.
"Mahojo Usagi!"
Usagi's face paled when she looked at the man standing in front of her. As if in some twisted form of fate, the headband guy from U.A. with the welding Quirk was right in front of her.
"Oh my," Bofuu whispered. "Usagi looks like she's seen a ghost."
Yukina smiled to herself and pulled out her phone. She was adamant on recording this. "No, Bofuu, this is history in the making."
"Ever since we saw each other at the exam last year, I couldn't help but be in awe of your beauty. Now I don't know you that well and you with me, but we keep running into each other too much for it to be a coincidence," Awase began as he took her hand in his own. "I guess what I'm trying to say is...I have a crush on you."
Usagi stood there for a few minutes before bursting out laughing. "Oh my- oh my goodness, haha!" She wiped a forming tear in her eye as she tried to calm herself down. "This was a great joke and I'll be sure to put it in the yearbook as one of my favorites."
"It's not a joke, is it?" Bofuu asked.
"Nope." Yukina continued recording.
Awase stared at her intently even as she laughed. While she may have thought it was a joke, he was being completely serious. After a few more minutes of silence, it began to dawn on her.
"W-wait, you are joking, right? S-surely this isn't real..."
"I'm not. I'm very serious about this," Awase replied. "I've had you on my mind ever since that day and I wanna make my feelings for you known."
Usagi's body became weak as she felt her world shatter. There was no way! This had to be fake! "W-who's paying you to say this?!"
"No one."
"What TV show are you on?!"
"None."
The more conclusions she tried to draw to this situation, the more wrong they were. Her reputation for being unattractive was about to go down the drain with everyone watching.
"I...I..."
"Here, have this." Awase handed her the envelope before running back to his class. Usagi looked down at the envelope as her body shook.
To: Usagi Mahojo
From: Yosetsu Awase
"This can't..." Usagi gasped as she fainted from the pure shock, Bofuu rushing to catch her before she hit the ground. Everything was about to change for better or worse.
Was it really time for her to face the fact that someone was crushing on her?

I love how genuinely kind and selfless hiei is, despite the shit he went through his entire life. How he cares and loves his sister even though he himself never received any love or affection and was hated for his existence, how he doesn't hate or envy his sister for being more fortunate than him, never curse or hate anyone for his misfortune. Seriously people don't really see the kindness within hiei because of his personality traits and antics. Whenever we talk about kind characters in yyh usually kurama or kuwabara names pop up but definitely not hiei's.
I think it's more like Hiei's kindness is more subtle in that involves larger more meaningful actions where he's dependable and will be there when he feels like he's needed. Like general interaction and to your face he could be kind of rude and kind of a douche, but he's like that about things that ultimately don't matter and he scales how much of that he is depending on the person. Like generally he is more nice to Yukina, but when she implied that he should go murder their hometown, he told her she should do it herself instead of asking others. It's kind of a rude way to reject her proposal, but also is a kindness to say that that line of thinking is kind of a waste of time.
While he wasn't raised really with affection though, the bandits that took him in even though it can't be said they really cared for him or anything, they at least gave him food and unwrapped him from the bandages and I assume gave him some kind of clothes so there wouldn't be a naked baby running around camp. It's not "care", but like that's basic decency. The way he talked about his hiruiseki too I think even though he didn't really interact with his mom (dead in the manga, separated from him in the anime) it's kind of implied that he felt some kind of attachment and affection from his mother's tear gem. So he had some sense and like Rui, even though she cast him away, also showed remorse for what she was doing and Yukina wanted to find him, so it's kind of hard to be completely merciless in the face of seeing people genuinely show some amount of caring even though ultimately they couldn't do anything. So it's like...I think kind of different because he had knowledge of people caring growing up, which is in stark contrast to Mukuro who legitimately had nothing. For Hiei though, he further had opportunity to let the caring and affection he had deep within him come out because he had friends like Yusuke and company around him so he'd just be in social situations with them that provided opportunity to think about other people.

The distance didn't escape Koun's notice, and a part of him wanted to laugh. He really did do nothing but fuck upâŚno wonder Fate hated him so much. But he didn't laugh. What he did do was shift himself slightly, to where his leg was brushing up against Sora's in their position.
Sora thought he was angry, thought he might hate the otherâŚ.and Koun didn't even realize this, but the simple action of offering touch proved that wrong.
"âŚ.we're supposed to beâŚimpartial." it had taken him some time to start talking again, not trusting his own voice for a moment. His words started as if he'd tried to force some life into themâŚbut it fizzled out quickly, as if he just didn't have the drive to continue a facade. "We don't have souls because of that. This allows us to proceed with our job without becomingâŚintertwined. Without taking sides. Able to give punishment and blessings without preconception notions."
He leaned back, turning his attention to the ceiling of the little apartment. His eyes were scrunched, as if he were having a hard time focusing on one thing. In truth, he'd rejected much of the energy that the line of belief between the two of them had suppliedâŚ.In an effort to further his eventual fall. But now he was starting to second guess himself again.
He assumed it was some part of him that was still focused on survival and self preservation. He'd been doing so well at keeping it back the past few daysâŚ.
"âŚ..Gods know I was never good at it." he muttered finally. "I was always shunned from gatherings because I was deemed defective with how I threw myself into the well being of my village, while my neighboring village's God, Yukina, was always congratulated on being a perfect example." A dry chuckle left him, and he held up a hand; a hazy and wavering illusion of a ethereal beauty dressed in a furred kimono appeared in front of them. "âŚ.should you ever run into her, turn the other wayâŚ..sheâŚ.has a bad habit of freezing trespassers solid. I was born a kitsune, but she was born a Yuki-Oona. Funny how we were neighborsâŚ."
The flickering illusion (so strange for his illusions to be faulty) vanished, and Koun's hand fell to his side as he let out a sigh. He turned his head slightly towards Sora, as if acknowledging the other's wordsâŚbut there was a frown on his face.
"Important? AhâŚ.You still aren't listening, huh?" the question could have been condescendingâŚ.but Koun's voice was soft, as if in understanding. "I told you beforeâŚ.I'm cursed. It's clear that I'm bleeding misfortune now instead of fortune, which means Fate has finally caught up with me and got her hands on me. It'sâŚ.no longer safe for people to be around me." A pause, and the last thing he said had wavered. He didn'tâŚ.truly believe that. And the idea of what he was going to do had made his core run cold. Fear. Fear was making itself known again. "âŚ..I'm afraid it's notâŚsomething that can just be stopped because you feel like it, Sora. I will fall. Perhaps not todayâŚperhaps not tomorrowâŚ..but soon. I told you I was dieingâŚ..And you shouldn'tâŚ.you shouldn't be forced to go through that. You've already been through so much, forced to go through too much. IâŚ.."
Koun's fists balled at his side, and he suddenly drew away from Sora, pushing himself up into a wavery stand.
"âŚâŚI can't do that to you. I can't."
If Sora thought Koun didn't care about him, didn't feel something for the keyblade wielderâŚ..this sentence alone might change that. If he didn't, he wouldn't be so torn up over thisâŚ.but he was. His face was twisted in grief, grief of the very thought of putting Sora through another traumatic experience. He was going to die, and he should die alone. He should put as much distance as he could between him and anything he was attached too, so that when he did fall to dormancy, he wouldn't hurt someone else. He couldn't bring himself to hurt Sora in that way.
⺠HE FROZE IN PLACE after Koun pushed him away. There it was again , that anger & if he dared say it , hate. The fox had a point though , he wasn't really listening , he was just being selfish. Communication was hard since he hadn't been around people for years. His social skills weren't the best nowadays it seemed. Yet , despite this , he made his way over to the other & crouched down in front of him.
Being told one thing when you were created only to find out it had been a lie all along would leave anyone questioning everything , but perhaps there had been a reason why Koun had been told such things. He often heard stories , tales that a God & a mortal were oh so forbidden to fall in love. Things like that. Could that have been the reason why he had been told such things? Who knew , who cared.
â You shouldn't feel anything they said. Yet here you are feeling things. I'm sorry. It must all be so confusing & you're probably questioning a lot of things. I don't know why they told you such things. Maybe there was a reason , maybe not. Forgive me for being selfish & only thinking of myself & my own feelings. All of this must be frightening for you as well. â
Nothing else was said as he silently moved over to sit next to Koun ( albeit with some distance between them. ) Truth was , he didn't want to lock away what he felt for the fox. These feelings were wonderful & it had been far too long since he had felt such things that he wanted to keep them safe. Wanted to bask in them & the happiness they brought.
A few beats of silence before he spoke up , voice soft & barely above a whisper. â Stupid. Like I'd ever let you fall. Even if you did , I'll be there to smack you across the face & pull you back up. You're too important to lose. Stupid. Dummy. Stinky fox. â
#bishonenprince#v; {forgotten and abandoned by fate} forgotten god#{because THEY ARE IDIOTS THATS WHY}

A study on one Yokozawa Takafumi
Okay, buckle up guys cause Iâve been wanting to do this for MONTHS and now is the time and itâs gonna be a long post. Itâs time to talk about my sweet baby angel Yokozawa.
As some of you may have figured out already, Yokozawa is my favorite character in the SiH/JR universe. Tbh, heâs my favorite character PERIOD. I mean, look at him :
Heâs gorgeous. I could look at him all day long. So what follows is a bunch of observations and theories (that are obviously 100% totally true, as they are mine) that revolve around the character of Yokozawa Takafumi.
We donât really know much about Yokozawaâs personal life before his first appearance in SiH. We know of his relationship with Takano and their time together in college, but we know nothing of his past that DOESNâT involve Takano. We do have glimpses of informations, like the fact that his parents worked late when he was a child and so he had to learn how to cook and take care of himself and that they might be bugging him about getting married, but itâs always given out in 1 short sentence in the novels with absolutely no details, which makes this statements difficult to fully understand. (for example, it isnât explicited if he has siblings, tho he probably doesnât, or when exactly did his parents talk to him about getting married, which means that he COULD have siblings and that his last interaction with his parents COULD be from a couple of weeks to several months before we hear of it, maybe even more than a year). We also learn in an EXTRA (like you gave him 6 novels but you put THAT in an EXTRA, NAKAMURA?!?) that his scowl comes from waaaaaayyyyyyy back into his childhood since heâs been scowling in pictures since he was a child, something that he didnât realize himself until he saw said-pictures again as an adult.
From his first appearance, what we understand about him is that heâs cold, aggressive, loud and work-focused. In fact, it is implied that itâs what many of his coworkers see in him since they nicknamed him the âWild Bearâ of Sales. His personnality and reputation are so bad at the start of SiH that most of them fear him, and the only coworkers with whom he seems to get along with, outside of Takano, are Henmi (which is honetsly only due to Henmi being a cinnamon roll), Hatori (but itâs more about mutual respect than friendship) and Yukina (whoâs not even working at Marukawa and whom he only sees from time to time). He does have cordial relationships with other people, but itâs mostly people who donât interact much with him or who are unrelated to his own work.Â
To summarize, heâs a grumpy asshole with no friends (except Takano but we all know itâs basically like having no friends at all) (sorry Takano kinnies, i love him too but you know Iâm right) And we, readers, are expected to hate him with all our heart.
Then, this happens:
And from then on, Yokozawa is revealed to be so much more than what we thought we knew. The next time we see him in SiH, heâs âback to normalâ and tells Ritsu that at the first occasion, heâll steal Takano back. Thanks to the Yokozawa Takafumi no Baii novels (or YTnB), we understand that he doesnât really think what heâs saying as he has finally fully realized that he could never have Takano. What he said then was a way for himself to not lose face in front of the man who beat him, who won Takano even though heâs done nothing for it, unlike Yokozawa who had been trying to get Takano for several years. Itâs self-preservation, and in the end, it may be more of an act for himself than against Ritsu. In other words, heâs officially giving up but without admitting his defeat, at least out loud. The worst part is probably that he had known for a long time he could never have Takano, but just couldnât let go. It doesnât really work for him tho, because he still feels all the sadness, sourness and disappointment that comes with being rejected for someone else. And of course, since he is very prideful, you can add shame to the mix. Then, the final strike: thereâs no one for him at this moment. Takano is more or less his only friend, and in this situation thereâs no way he can seek comfort from him. His family? Well, assuming he doesnât have any sibling, itâs only his parents, and from how much we hear about them (NEVER LMAOOOOO, theyâre mentionned 2-3 times in total thoughout the 6 novels and have 0 influence on the plot at any time. Compared to that, Hiyoriâs grandparents from her motherâs side are like main characters lmao), he doesnât seem particularly close with them, so theyâre out.
By the way, thereâs something really bothering me that I want to share. In the 4th novel, Yokozawa reveals to the Kirishimas that his birthday was actually 2 days after Kirishimaâs but that he FORGOT about it until way after it had passed. He also says that it doesnât really matter because itâs not important and he usually doesnât celebrate it anyway. The problem is: as a parent, wouldnât you, at least, call your child to wish them a happy birthday? Because, if Yokozawa forgot his birthday until AFTER it had passed, it means that NO ONE wished him a happy birthday, or he would have remembered. Therefore, his parents didnât even call to wish him a happy birthday. His own parents to whom he is -supposedly- an only child. From that, we can extrapolate. If they donât call him for his birthday, they probably donât call much at all, right? Now, add to that information that Takano, his only real friend, never calls him by his given name, and that of course no one else does since theyâre not close with Yokozawa. The only people who might call him by his given name are his family. His parents. Do you see my point?
This man has very probably not been called by his given name in months. Your given name gives you individuality. Your family name is something you share with other people but your given name identifies you as an individual among your family. Iâm telling you, my boy has been called âYokozawaâ for so long that itâs basically how he identifies himself. (hell, I bet he refers to himself as âYokozawaâ instead of âTakafumiâ) And I think that this theory is supported by the fact that he doesnât like being called âTakafumiâ by Kirishima, even after months of dating. Itâs like heâs not a person anymore. He doesnât have anything heâs passionae about, heâs an entity that fulfils a role. Takanoâs best friend. The Wild Bear of Sales. Ritsuâs rival. Heâs never allowed to be just âTakafumiâ. And when he âlosesâ the only person he was actually close to, his world collapses, because he doesnât have anything else in his private life, which is why he turns to work and focuses on that afterwards. Yokozawa is an incredibly lonely character. He feels alone but his pride and self-deprecative tendencies (letâs remember that he expressed multiple times that he doesnât understand how Kirishima can be attracted to him and keeps questioning his place in the Kirishimasâ household) donât allow him to realize it. He doesnât have anybody, he knows it, he ignores it. But it doesnât take the pain away, and so he falls into a spiral of self-hate and depression.
It could have ended like that, but then Kirishima forced his way into the picture. That night in the bar, Kirishima is faced with something he (and probably nobody else, honestly) has never seen before: Yokozawa giving out fully to his true feelings. When Takano confronted him, Yokozawa lashed out but he maintained some control over himself, enough to not let Takano see how deeply crushed Yokozawa really was. But with all the despair and alcohol inside him, Yokozawa showed everything he usually never showed to anyone else: his desperation, his love, his tears... And itâs basically the moment Kirishima decided âyep, Iâm gonna take care of this guyâ, because he SAW, at that moment, Yokozawaâs true heart, his naivete when it comes to love, how deeply he can love and how far he would go for the people he holds dear. Kirishima was facing the guy half Marukawa thinks is an absolute asshole, and realized there was so much more to him than anything he could have imagine. So of course, he started to wonder what other sides of Yokozawa he could discover. And thanks to him, we, the reader, got to see those sides too.
Yokozawa is actually very sweet and sincere. Heâs grumpy, yes, and he clearly doesnât know how to handle his emotions (as if no one ever teached him how to, mmmmmmmmhhhhh, I WONDER), but itâs just the hard exterior that he put up for so long that it basically became his natural state. The truth is revealed about the former n°1 enemy of the fandom: heâs good with animals and kids (because, surprise, heâs actually a big softie with heart of gold), he likes to cook, he enjoys reading when he has time, he actually really appreciates Henmi despite scolding him all the time, heâs shy when it comes to intimacy, etc... We discover a man who is stubborn and irritable because heâs very dedicated to everything he has responsability over (like the parent race at Hiyori school, my boy TRAINED for WEEKS so he would do his best for a little girl he had known for a couple of months at best, god); he acts clingy at times because he when he loves, he loves hard and fully; heâs bad at sharing his feelings because he has a lot of insecurities and self-doubt (like, every novel heâs ready to leave the Kirishimas the moment they want him out of their lives, even though he acknowledges to himself that it would probably destroy him. like, baby, wtf?). And despite all that, he always does his best to do the right thing. He doesnât sulk and indulge into his flawed behaviour. When he fucks up, he apologizes and does his best to make up for it (except with Onodera but nobodyâs perfect lmao), and even though heâs unsure about his future with the Kirishimas, he gives them everything he has. And for the first time (again, sorry Takano kinnies), heâs given back just as much.
Hiyori is obviously perfect, sheâs the best, I love her. But his relationship with Kirishima is what really allows Yokozawa to reveal everything he has in him. - I said Iâd accept you unconditionallyâyou donât have to change one bit. â That statement is, in my opinion, the exact thing that makes their relationship work and the proof that Kirishima is the ideal partner for Yokozawa. Kirishima acknowledges Yokozawaâs flaws later in the scene, making it clear that heâs not blind of them and that he knows what heâs getting himself into by being Yokozawaâs lover. And saying loud and clear that he knows about them and is willing to accept Yokozawa, not despite those flaws, but WITH them, heâs basically giving Yokozawa exactly what he needs. Yokozawa is aware of his flaws and that he pushes other people away with his shitty behaviour, but no one ever gave him the opportunity to grow and change in order for him to become a better person. Deep down, heâs an amazing guy, but no one before has ever been willing to wait long enough to see it. When Kirishima says this sentence, I donât think heâs refering to Yokozawaâs behaviour towards himself because of course that he wants Yokozawa to act differently with him after they become lovers, like being lovey-dovey and more laid-back around him. I think heâs telling Yokozawa âI know who you are deep down, I see you, and Iâll take it with everything it goes with without hesitationâ, and thatâs precisely what Yokozawa needs: to be loved for who he truly is, and to be given the time to change the way he behaves without being rushed or judged. The proof of this is that, Yokozawa DOES change in the course of the novels. Heâs less grumpy and angry and stressed, but also more confident and relaxed and able to solve problems with calmness and communication. And those changes all come from his desire to be a better person for the people and to be able to support people around himself. He doesnât change to please Kirishima; he changes because heâs wanted to change things about him for a long time and Kirishima offered him the opportunity and the support he needed to make those changes in himself. I think Kirishima being a father really helps here, because heâs a good father, which means he has learned to be patient and understanding and to leave others the space to grow, just like he does with Hiyori. So, yeah, heâs right when he says that having a child is âa plusâ for his relationship with Yokozawa, because it gave him the tools to be the partner Yokozawa needed and deserved. On a personnal note, I think I fell in love with Yokozawa because I used to feel a similar type of loneliness and that horrible feeling that you could technically do something but you still somehow canât manage to actually do it, and you feel horrible about yourself. But by loving him, I learned to love and forgive that part of myself. Because I saw this part of myself in him, I realized that it does not make me horrible or pathetic or disgusting. Itâs humane, itâs hard, and it should be handled with support and kindness, not disdain and disgust. So, thank you my grumpy bear boy for allowing me to accept all this, I love you <3

I'd love to see Yusuke with an injured girlfriend. Perhaps during a tournament she happened to get hit or pushed someone out of the way and got hit instead. Ty! đđ
Thank you for requesting!
I hope this is of your liking!
Please let me know what you think of it!
TW: injure mention.
-----------------------------------------------
You went to watch the dark tournament, you were worried sick about the boys, but more specifically Yusuke, your stupid and troublemaker of a boyfriend.
As you sat there watching match after match you grew worried about yourself, Shizuru and Yukina as well. A lot of debries were flying your way, alas no deadly things on your way yet.
On this fight Hiei and the mysterious fighter were out of the scene due to a scheme. You were lived, it was not fair! Kurama, Kuwabara and Yusuke were handling all by themselves.
Kurama and Kuwabara were in pretty bad shape so Botan went to help them out. So that meant Yusuke was fighting the leader of the opposing team a guy named Jin.
Much like Yusuke you got frustrated whenever he went up to the skies - that should be consider out of ring right? Right? But the referee said it wasn't, much to your dismay.
You noticed it was going to be rough for Yusuke, Jin had both a solid attack and defense going on there and Yusuke was a little tired from the previous fight.
As Yusuke got that first punch on the face you got on the edge of your seat. The fight went on and honestly? It was hard to keep up, those two were fast! At least Yusuke seemed to be having fun.
Eventually Yusuke seemed to have a plan to win. He launched a very powerful attack toward Jin, the youkai was sent flying off or did he pulled away again? This trick was so very annoying!
Soon you heard the noise of something falling and Shizuru rushing you and Yukina away from your seats, Shizuru went ahead followed by you and Yukina. You grabbed the frail girls hands and marched after Shizuru's lead. As the three of you were close to leaving the roll, Yukina tripped, out of reflex you pulled her to you to shield her and pull her away.
The roof where you three were at collapse, but seems like you were not fast enough on getting out. A piece of debrie ended up rebouncing and hitting you on the head, on the moment you shielded Yukina from her fall.
You were knocked unconscious for a few moments, you woke up to Yukina gently holding you head on her lap, but you were very dizzy and a little aloof:
Yukina: Y/n! Y/n! Are you ok?
Shizuru: Hey, Yukina, can't you heal them?
Yukina: Yes, but I need them to be awake to be sure they are fine!
Shizuru: Damn, Y/n!
Y/n: I... I, huh...
Yukina:!! You are awake! I am sorry for causing you such harm!
Y/n: It's... It's fine.
Shizuru: Don't worry Y/N, will get you on top notch shape soon!
Shizuru balanced you on her back and started to head to the hotel room you guys were using.
Yukina tagged along, trying to talk to you the whole way so you wouldn't faint again and to keep you thinking.
As soon as you all reached the room, Shizuru placed you on the couch and went to grab some ice for you. Yukina started her healing routine on you, which at this point you were a little more yourself:
Yukina: Y/n, I am so sorry! Because of me-
Y/n: Hey, it's ok. I will be fine soon, you are here right?
Yukina: Yes, but...
Y/n: Then I will be fine!
You tried to lift your head and a throbbing headache stopped you on your tracks:
Yukina: Please stay still! You got injured badly!
You could feel your hair sticky and you were a little light headed. You lost track of time while Yukina was caring for you. You noticed Shizuru standing close by and grabbing whatever the girl asked for, she would often ask how your head was doing - they didn't allow you to close your eyes for a minute. You heard a knock and saw a familiar face: Botan entered the room, she was looking for Yukina to help heal the boys. When she found you there, injured too, she causes a little ruckus:
Botan: What happend? Y/n?
Shizuru: A debrie fell on their head.
Yukina: it's all my fault. If I-
Y/n: It's fine, I will heal.
After a little discussion Yukina agreed to leave you on Shizuru's care, you seemed to be better so she could help the fighters a bit. You felt guilty that she wasted some precious stamina healing your head wound:
Y/n: Sorry, because of me you used some of your energy...
Yukina: It's ok! It's the least I could do for you, you saved me after all!
Shiruzu sighed heavely:
Shizuru: You do know she is a high level Youkai right? I am sure she can do a lot more than just one patient at a time.
Yukina blushed a bit and mumble something about not being that powerful. But it made an awful a lot of sense what Shizuru said. Botan rushed Yukina out after this to aid the boys.
As you were chatting with Shizuru about nothing at all, you suddenly heard the door swing open - Yusuke was back and very worked up:
Yusuke: Y/n? Y/n? Are you OK?
You braces the pain to sit up:
Y/n: Yusuke! I am fine it's nothing!
Yusuke: Nothing? Yukina told me what happened!
Y/n: Yeah and she healed me so I will be fine!
He rushed to kneel beside you to see and talk to you. At this moment Shizuru excused herself to smoke.
Yusuke: Let me see your head!
Y/n: What? No, go heal yourself first, you are a wreck!
Yusuke: I am suppose to be a wreck, you are not!
Y/n: I am fine, really.
Yusuke: Maybe you should go back. You got hurt just watching me...
Y/n: No! I want to be here with you!
Yusuke: Be with me from there! You know, in spirit!
Y/n: You are ridiculous!
You huffed and as you did your head throbbed a bit, which made you flinch:
Yusuke: See? Not ok!
Y/n: Oh bite me, I am fine!
You crossed your arms and looked away from him, puffing your cheeks. You heard him mumbling a thousand curses and something about you being stubborn. He got up, which made you think he was going to leave, but to your surprise, he didn't just leave.
He leaned over you, caging you on the couch and left a sweet kiss on your forehead. He got up and said you were " his stubborn idiot, so you should heal soon". With this he left.
You were surprised and as red as tomato. You didn't have time to call him back again, you wanted to hug him and smack his head, he always made you worry so much with all this fighting!
Then, it hitted you: did he win the fight? At this thought you called out Shizuru and turned a little too fast, causing another pain rush:
Shizuru: Take it easy now. What is it?
Y/n: Do you know how the fight ended?
Shizuru: Seems like Yusuke won.
Y/n: Ah I see...
You smiled. Of course he did, that's Yusuke after all! Upon seeing your smile Shizuru didn't leave it cheap:
Shizuru: Worried much about the lover boy that you forgot about the match?
You flushed and spoke really fast:
Y/n: No! I mean, I was worried is just, I didn't had time to ask - he left and he got annoying and-
Shizuru laughed at you:
Shizuru: That's so cute! Thought, I could barely catch a thing you said.
You ruffled your hair and said she was grabbing some more water for you. You puffed your cheeks again, but soon, you smiled. A soft smiled, the memory of his face and how he worried for you made you so soft.
The lingering feeling of his kiss on your forehead was there too. He has a weird way to show his love to you, but you appreacited it nonetheless!
Boy, how much you loved that idiot. He could be rude, love to fight and get into trouble a lot, but he was kind and loving too!
Shozuru returned to see you smiling a bit, she, once again, poked at you:
Shizuru: Are you seeing stars or hearts fluttering?
You rolled your eyes, this was going to be a long day. You couldn't wait to see Yusuke again, hopefully soon when you got better or he came around to see you.
In the end he appeared to see you again. This time you got to give the hug you so wanted a while ago. He just laughed and held you tight. No words. You didn't need to say anything for now.

So, I LOVE a good sibling reveal fic, but what I really want (my deepest wish) is an entire spin-off series with Yukina and Hiei (and the rest of the cast too but mainly Hiei and Yukina) awkwardly learning how to be siblings.
The scene Iâm thinking of right now is there first real argument (most likely over something to do with Yukinaâs safety - she hates being controlled and worries that people, especially Hiei, think that because she abstains from violence that sheâs weak - Hiei, on the other hand needs his sister to be safe so itâs the only thing heâs willing to fight her over) and while he trusts her more than anyone, his paranoia gets the best of him - theyâre not super great at communicating any of this (Yukina had to repress all her thoughts and feelings to have a chance of being accepted by the Ice Maidens and Hiei associates feelings with weakness that can get him killed) and at one point, Hiei raises his voice against Yukina for the first time in their relationship - Yukina starts to tear up (terrified that sheâs ruined her relationship with the only family she has left) and suddenly Hiei is faced with his greatest worry about having a sister: heâs going to fuck it up like he fucks everything up and heâs going to hurt her because thatâs the only thing heâs good at
He INSTANTLY starts backpedaling and apologizing - he keeps reaching out to touch her, comfort her, but then pulling back becauseďżź surely he could only make things worse
Mostly, I want the blissful relief of that moment after when they both FINALLY communicate that they donât hate the other (they could never hate the other) and they hug (Yukina still struggling not to be too emotional and Hiei barely holding back an anxiety attack) until all the tension drain from them both
Hiei briefly submits to the mortifying ordeal of being known, just long enough to communicate that he does trust her 100% but his relationship to her is the only part of himself he doesnât hate and heâs shaking as he admits âI know you can take care of yourself⌠but just⌠Let me come with you⌠I canât - if anything ever happened to you Iâd-â and she finally realizes that the whole scenario was never about him judging her - it was based solely on his trauma history and his love for her

Story: Yusuke and Kuwabara go out to the beach, on their long-awaited summer vacation. Then, they run into Botan and the others by chance! Kuwabara is entranced with joy to see Yukina, and struggles to impress her, but...
Video:
youtube
Translation:
âMemories of a Summerâ (ă˛ă¨ĺ¤ăŽćăĺş)
Yusuke:Â Alright, Kuwabara! It's a perfect day for the beach! Let's have fun today!
Kuwabara: It is!
Kuwabara: No, it's not, Urameshii! You said "let's go to the beach", so I came to find that âŚ
Kuwabara: Two dudes at the beach is not a good idea.
Kuwabara: There're no flowers AT ALL ... such as Keiko-chan, Botan-chan and the others, right?
T/N: flowers = girls
Yusuke: Shut up! Keiko has things to do with Botan and the others.
Kuwabara: Uh-huh? Well, are you angry that your date dumped you?
Yusuke: You idiot, it's not like that!
Botan: Whoa? Isn't it Yusuke? And Kuwa-chan too!
Yusuke: Botan!? Don't you have things to do with Keiko?
Botan: Huh, I know it very well. We were talking about going to the beach together.
Yusuke: What the hell? You could have invited me then, right?
Botan: Nooo ... Actually âŚ
Kuwabara: Aah! Yukina-san!
Yukina: Oh, Kazuma-san. What a coincidence!
Kuwabara: No, no, this is already fate! Fate!! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!
Shizuru: The four of us were having some girl talk. Let's not get into this, right âŚ
Yusuke: I see ... I agree!
T/N: Botan was interrupted by Kuwabara as she was about to explain why she and Keiko didn't invite Yusuke to the beach. Then, Shizuru says they were having a private and girl talk, and it would be better not to go into the details. Yusuke agrees with her. I wonder if Keiko didn't go to the beach with them because she was having her period or something XD. Anyway, Maji Battle hasn't released any illustrations of Keiko in a swimsuit yet.
Kuwabara: Errr! Does Yukina-san also play in the sea?
Kuwabara: I'm worried about you walking on the beach alone, in such a crowded place. This man among men, Kuwabara! Will protect Yukina-san honorably!
Yukina: Ah, aah ... Thank you very much
Shizuru: Kazu! Quit your grumbling! Why doncha spread a sheet and wait for us?
Botan: Well then, Kuwa-chan, if you please. We're going to get changed in a minute!
Kuwabara: Okay, I got it.
Kuwabara: Alright ... it's gonna be a fun summer vacation!
[The girls get changed]
Kuwabara: Yeah! Now it's perfect!
Kuwabara: Kuwabara's special setting will make Yukina-san feel like she's on vacation!
Kuwabara: I'm doing a very good job! Ha-ha-ha!
Shizuru: What are you talking to yourself about? ... Oh, this bench looks comfortable.
Kuwabara: Ne, neeee-chan! That's for Yukina-san's exclusive use ...!
Botan: Thank you for waiting, Kuwa-chan!
Botan: Huh? What happened to Yukina-chan?
Kuwabara: Yukina-san hasn't come yet? Weren't you together?
Botan: Yukina-chan said she was going to see the sea first. She left ahead without us, butâŚ
Kuwabara: Whaaat!? So, that's it?
Kuwabara: Yukina-san is all alone, on such a vast beach âŚ!?
Kuwabara: I shouldn't be wasting any time! I gotta go find Yukina-san!
Kuwabara: Waaahhh! Yukina-saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!
Yukina: Noo! Um, please stop!
Delinquent A: Don't be so reluctant! It's okay to have a little fun with us!
Delinquent B: Even so, you're really cute.
Yukina: Let, Let me go, please.
Kuwabara: Heey, you idiots!! Where are you planning to take Yukina-san!?
Yukina: Kazuma-san!
Kuwabara: Yukina-san! Don't follow these guys!
Delinquent A: Hey, this ugly guy! What a smashed face!
Kuwabara: Smashed ⌠*heavy breathing* !? You son of a bitch, I ain't gonna let you get away with this!
Delinquent B: Heh, bring it on, you idiot!
Kuwabara: Oh, I will!
Kuwabara: Yukina-san, please stand back!
[Kuwabara fights the bad boys]
Kuwabara: Heh, how about that!
Delinquent A: Fu, fuuuuuck!
Kuwabara: Yukina-san, you're safe now. I'll take care of both bad guys with my own hands.
Kuwabara: Whaaat!? Yukina-san is not here!?
Yukina: Arrgh!
Kuwabara: Haahh ... Yukina-san!?
Sea youkai A: Hehehehehe, this gal is a great find!
Sea youkai B: Her tears will become a rare stone called hiruiseki (ice tear stone). We can make as much money as we want just by selling them off!
Kuwabara: It's a youkai this time!? One after another! Wait!
[Meanwhile, Botan and Shizuru ...]
Botan: Yukina-chan ... she hasn't returned yet, but she's fine, right?
Shizuru: If Kazu went there, she should be fine.
Botan: Hahaha, I wonder if the two of them will be getting along REALLY well after this!
Botan: Shizuru-san, let's go check on them a little bit!
Shizuru: Oh well, if you insist. But, where did they go? ...
[Back to Kuwabara VS Sea Youkais]
Kuwabara: You, idiots! Get your filthy hands off Yukina-san!
Sea youkai A: Is this the time for bluster? Take a good look around you.
Sea youkai B: Here's our hideout. Fellas, let him have it!
*sound of a punch*
Sea youkai A: Ouuuuuuuuuuch!
Yusuke: Hey, Kuwabara! Looks like you're having fun! Count me in too!
Kuwabara: Urameshi! Where the hell have you been, until now!?
Yusuke: Aah? None of your business.
Yusuke: Come on, hurry up and let's kick the crap out of these guys. You're going to save your beloved Yukina-san, right?
Kuwabara: Damn, you're fucking teasing me ... Don't take the lion's share to you, idiot!
Yusuke: I know!
Yusuke: Alright, let's go wild!
[Yusuke and Kuwabara defeat the Sea Youkais]
Kuwabara: Yippee! Is this total annihilation?
Kuwabara: Yukina-san, you're safe this time! Do you have any injuries!?
Yukina: O, okay ...!
Yukina: Oh, Kazuma-san, you have a wound on your arm ... just a moment please!
Kuwabara: Yu, Yukina-san! Awawawa ...
Yukina: Yes?
Kuwabara: Errr ... uh ...
Yukina: ......?
Kuwabara: To, today, you look ve, very pre-âŚ
T/N: Kuwabara is nervous. He wants to say Yukina looks very pretty today, but words won't come out.
*BAM!* (sound of a hard blow. Shizuru hits Kuwabara)
Shizuru: What have you been doing all this time without coming back! You idiot!
Kuwabara: Nee ... Neeeeee-chan ...
Botan: Yukina-chan, are you okay? You didn't come back, what happened?
Yukina: Um, I was careless in many ways ⌠Therefore, Kazuma-san helped me.
Yukina: He even got injured because of me. I'm treating him now.
Botan: Oh, was that so? I thought it would be ... ohohoho!
T/N: Botan has such a dirty mind lol.
Kuwabara: Botan! You moron!
Shizuru: Good grief, I was worried when you didn't come back at once.
Yukina: U, um! I'm really thankful to you, Kazuma-san!
Yukina: You can have this, if you like âŚ
Kuwabara: Hmm ... a seashell?
Yukina: Yes, I just picked it up. It's very beautiful, isn't it?
Yukina: Please accept this if you wish, as an expression of gratitude for earlier.
Kuwabara: Yu, Yukina-san! What a wonderful thing ...!
Kuwabara: I, I will cherish it for the rest of my life!
Yusuke: Heh, excited about a mere seashell. Congratulations, dude!
Kuwabara: What the hell, Urameshii âŚ!  Shut the fuck up, hey idiot!
*PUNCH!* (Kuwabara hits Yusuke)
Yusuke: Ouch! You did it on purpose, idiot!
Kuwabara: Whooo! Cut it out!
 <Yusuke and Kuwabara start fighting>
Botan: Ahh ⌠There they go again.
Shizuru: Let's leave those idiots behind and have some fun!
Botan: Yukina-chan, let's go!
Yukina: Yes!
- The End -
Yukina-chan is so cute, isn't she? I wish they had designed the seashell and the sea demons. I missed Keiko, though.
There's another summer event quest called "Undercover Operation on the Poaching Beach!". This one introduces Koto, Juri and Ruka wearing swimsuits.

Request fic
Anon asked:Â
Would you do a Hiei from YYH fic where Hiei and the reader are in "will they won't they" stage since they clearly like each other but she's not going to push Hiei and Hiei wants to ignore his feelings but he can't once he gets blatantly jealous when Shishiwakamaru makes a comment about her during the Dark Tournament after she turns him down for "not being her type"?
A/N: I kinda messed with somethings because I havenât seen Dark Tournament in a hot minute.
Word Count: 1624
âHiei, youâre glaring again.â
âShut it Kurama. Iâm not glaring, merely observing.â
An exasperated Kurama smiles at his friend who despite, verbal assurances that he was âmerely observingâ seemed to be growing increasingly irritated. Demonic aura rolling off his friend in waves as Hieiâs hand twitched to grab his sword.
The object of Hieiâs ire stood there completely unaware of the death looming over his head. Or maybe, he was all too aware. Shishiwakamaru had no issues when it came to taunting his rival team. You were no exception, the fact that you happened to actually catch Shishiâs eye was nothing more than icing on the cake.
The fact that Hiei looked ready to turn him into a sword sheath made this interaction all the more sweet.
All the while, you were caught in the crossfire between the 2 demonsâ mind game/ ego contest. You continued your conversation with Shishiwakamaru out of pure politeness, every question he asked, you answered bored and disinterested, each answer getting shorter and shorter as time stretched on. To be truthful, youâd rather be back at the hotel, you were wasting the teamâs precious training time by being here. You tried to shoo them off but Kurama insisted for the sake of being a gentleman and Hiei stayed because he wanted to âscope out the competitionâ.
Now the competition had more than ended and neither of them had any real valid reason to remain here, demons long gone, any stragglers youâd be more than able to avoid on your way back to the hotel. But you figured the same reason you were still here was why Hiei stayed around. Kurama probably just stayed behind to make sure Hiei didnât add any extra charges to their long list of crimes.
âIf youâre done wasting oxygen, Shishi, weâd like to head back now.â, Hiei, fed up with Shishiâs persistence speaks.
âIf youâll excuse me, your presence is no longer required. I can escort my Y/N back to the hotel if youâre that busy.â, Shishiwakamaru was all too aware of the underlining irritation in Hieiâs voice, more potent than his usual cadence.
That seemed to be the tipping point for Hiei because he grabbed his sword and nearly lopped off Shishiwakamaruâs head if it werenât for Kurama placing a hand on his shoulder with a look that said âsave it for the arena.â
Alright, this had gone on long enough, âActually Shishi, I was thinking of heading back with them, itâs getting kinda late and I donât wanna be here at night with just you...â, you mumbled the last part out a little awkwardly and gestured towards the exit where Hiei and Kurama stood.
Your âexcellentâ moderator skills seemed to have worked though because Shishi didnât put up a fight. He smiled at you before gently taking your hand in his and placing a kiss on the palm of it. âUntil we meet again Y/N, you hold my heart in your hands.â With a final smile directed at you, ignoring the way Hieiâs glare intensified, he walked away, leaving you to deal with the aftermath of his actions.
The aftermath being one pissed off fire demon named Hiei.
As you all made your way back to the hotel, you could tell that Hiei was very pointedly, ignoring you. He trailed behind you and Kurama before completely disappearing into the trees going who knows where.
The walk back with Kurama was silent but not unpleasant. You were mainly lost in your own thoughts, Kurama offered you a sympathetic smile but otherwise didnât bother you. Any advice he couldâve given you would be repetitive, the both of you being closest to Hiei and knowing how he operates.
Upon coming back to the hotel, you note with nary a concern that Team Urameshiâs common room was completely empty. Fine, you needed to be alone with your thoughts anyways. All you wanted was tea, after that, youâd leave.
It did not appear that the universe was on your side as Botan appeared by your side with a cattish grin that said sheâd found a new piece of drama to prey upon.Â
âSo, Y/N, me and the girls were playing truth or dare. Since everyone else is out, we were wondering if youâd like to join us?â
She said that all too innocently, it seemed she was either trying to lower your guard or sheâd finally put her paws away. It did sound nice though, hanging out with Keiko, Yukina, Shizuru, and Botan in a situation more relaxing than hoping your boys donât die every time they go out to fight.
âIâm sorry, I have to say no. Iâm feeling a little tired from today and honestly, Iâm just gonna pass out on the nearest surface, preferably a bed.â
She looked a bit disappointed, but understanding. âItâs just that I wanted you to see that Yusukeâs spirit beast had finally hatched.âÂ
âOh, good for him, but Iâm sure I can see it tomorrow. Arenât the best things worth waiting for?â She looked a bit confused at your usage of the quote and you took that as an opportunity to leave. As interesting as Yusukeâs spirit beast sounds, you honestly were hoping to wait up for Hiei so you could talk to him about today.
Mind made up, you sped to your room, catching the faintest sight of a black puff of hair atop a blue...blob, before closing the door. You set your tea down to let it cool while you changed into your sleepwear. Pacing all the while and triple checking that your curtains were pulled back and your window was open.
âWhy do you look so nervous?â
The sound of Hieiâs voice causes you to jump up in fear, tea cup almost spilling and dropping to the floor as a result. You turn around and see Hiei, perched on the windowsill, as dramatic as ever but also as serene as heâd ever been.
âHiei, y-youâre here.â, a little caught off guard, you beam at the sight of him.
âWhy wouldnât I be here?â, he states that as if itâs the most obvious thing in the world, the implied affection doesnât go unnoticed by you either. He jumps down from the window and enters your room, but thatâs it. He puts his hands in his pocket and makes no moves to get closer to you beyond that.
Is he-? Itâs faint but if you squint and the moonlight hits him just right, you could swear he was blushing. Hiei? Blushing?? You must be more tired than you thought because in what world does Hiei blush?
He opens his mouth to say something before closing it and youâre reminded, this is the world where Hiei blushes. The same world that forced him to compete in a tournament that could cost him his life. And the same world where he cares for you and you him but neither of you acting upon it.
âHiei I-â
âY/N look-â
At that you both laugh, feeling some of the tension in the room ease a bit after doing so. You try to urge Hiei to go first but he insists you speak, so you do.Â
âI just wanted to say that I donât have any feelings for Shishiwakamaru.â, you figured being blunt would be the best approach, Hiei appreciated it despite him being one of the most roundabout people you knew, âYou know I only have eyes for you right?â
At your honest admission, Hiei looks a little guilty, eyes flitting about the room before settling back on you. His blush intensifies as a pout forms on his face, âI know that, Iâm not an idiot like Kuwabara.â
Despite him looking like he wants you to finish this conversation for him, you remain silent. He had more that he needed to say to you, even if he didnât know it.
His eyes took another trip around the room and he fixed you with a glare that said âseriously?â. You just smiled innocently and waited for him to continue.
âListen Y/N because Iâm going to say this once.â, he clears his throat, standing up straight and removing his hands from his pockets to point at you. âI find that youâre more tolerable than others. If I let my guard around you...I trust that youâd watch over me.â As soon as he finished, he looked away and plopped onto the floor, legs crossed.
You tensed the slightest bit, this subject was new to both of you, before forcing your body to move and making your way across the room to Hiei. You sat in front of him and placed a daring hand atop his.
To your relief, he didnât seem opposed and even tangled his fingers in yours. Now both of you were staring into each otherâs eyes, waiting for someone to make a move or say something.Â
An unrestrained smile broke out across your face as you savored the feeling of Hieiâs hand in yours, the warmth of his calloused hands sending a fresh stream of butterflies up your arm and into your stomach.Â
Hiei smiled too, a smaller one than yours but the happiness in his eyes more than making up the difference. It seemed like the two of you would sit there lovesick forever until Hiei, in an unprecedented show of boldness, leaned in and placed the gentlest kiss onto your lips.
It was clumsy, too firm at one point and angle a bit awkward, but it was so remarkably Hiei. The kiss was so brief that you were left dazed and wanting for more.
Hiei didnât oppose when you pulled him in for another kiss, nor did he oppose the many that followed.

Hey, Iâd love to hear your thoughts on the boys responding to hearing âI love youâ for the first time - only if you want, of course - youâre blog is awesome :)
I love this prompt (pun intended)! Super cute ask just in time for Valentineâs Day. This turned out to be an x-Reader piece; hope you donât mind!
(Confession: The Kuwabara scenario is pretty close to how me and my boyfriend confessed to each other. He said âI love youâ really early and I came around slower. So that section really means a lot to me.âĽÂ Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy! Happy Valentineâs Day!
Warnings/Tags: Some light cursing. SFW. Gender neutral reader. Thereâs some Yukina/Kuwabara in Hieiâs section.
Hit âKeep Readingâ to dive in!
KURAMA
So⌠Kurama knows how you feel before you drop the L-word.
Heâs perceptive! And you keep looking at him askance and biting your lip all cutely, demurring from answering when he asks whatâs up.
Youâve been dating for a long time, so it would make sense youâre finally about to say those three little words aloud.
He has a hunch youâre about to admit your feelings, and his hunches are usually right.
So, smarmy fox-boy that he is, he teases you about it a bit before the weeks leading up to your confession.
Heâll sort of murmur your name to get your attention, look deeply into your eyes, then say:
âI loveâŚâ [dramatic pause while you hold your breath and your eyes go wide] â... this food weâre eating right now, donât you?â
And then heâll act all innocent and pretend not to understand why you just choked on the food he said he loves so much.
He thinks itâs hilarious to watch your face go supernova.
Kurama is low-key an asshole, but thatâs why you love him.
But when you actually do work up the nerve to tell him how you feel?
Heâs not laughing anymore.
He knows this is serious for you.
He knows that saying âI love youâ makes you feel vulnerable, and he wonât devalue this moment by not taking it seriously.
So he doesnât make any jokes after you say it and stand there looking at him, shaking like a leaf.
He just smiles, pulls you to him, and presses a kiss against your forehead.
âI love you too,â he murmurs, lips ghosting over your skinâand he only lets you go once he feels you relax against him, relieved to have your affections returned.
HIEI
You know that meme about alternative responses to âI love youââ?
Hiei falls into multiple categories of that meme, cycling through them one by one until he lands on his final reaction.
After you say âI love you, he just sort of looks at you. Like, really looks at you with a blank expression on his face, like he canât quite grasp what he just heard.
And then Hiei laughs.
Itâs not a nice laugh.
Itâs a throw-back-his head laugh, a harsh bark of sound that makes the hair on your neck stand up.
âYou fool,â he spits. âAttachments make you vulnerable. If youâre too blinded by emotion to see that, then youâre not who I thought you were.â
And then Hiei⌠just kind of vanishes.
You donât hear from him for a few days, and the hurt you feel is the kind of hurt only someone you truly care for can inflict. Itâs proof of your feelings, sure, butâŚ
You spend a lot of time in a glum or agitated mood, because while you knew Hiei wasnât the most emotional, this wasnât what you thought would happen when you confessed your love.
Meanwhile?
Hieiâs off training in the woods and attacking trees with 900% more ferocity than usual.
He isnât sure why heâs in such a foul, vengeful mood at first, but the fact that he canât get your shattered expression out of his head?
Thatâs... a hint, he supposes, as to the source of his ire.
Eventually he emerges from the woods and wanders around until he reaches Genkaiâs temple, where he spends a good deal of his time when not in the city with you.
Yukina is there (this is part of the reason he goes there a lot, predictably).
So is Kuwabara (this is part of the reason he doesnât go there all the time, also predictably).
They welcome Hiei into the temple like they usually do, and while Hiei normally leaves as soon as he spots Kuwabara, he allows his sister and her boyfriend to lead him inside for once.
He watches the pair of them cook dinner in silence, observing the way Yukina and Kuwabara talk and laugh with each other, and the way they wordlessly communicate as they work.
Itâs⌠not the worst, he thinks, seeing them together. His opinion on Kuwabara has changed over the years (mostly thanks to you poking him to give Kuwabara a chance) and he knows Kuwabara would give his life for Yukina.
Kuwabara demonstrates exactly this when he opens a cabinet and a heavy pot falls out of the cupboard; Kuwabara leans over Yukina to take the brunt of the blow, sheltering her from harm.
Yukina gasps and grabâs Kuwabaraâs arm, inspecting him for damage and fussing over his injury.
But Kuwabara just grins, takes her hand, and asks her if sheâs OK.
âI love you,â he tells her when she scolds him for being reckless. âI didnât want you to get hurt!â
That scene replays in Hieiâs head for a few days afterwards, looping through his head along with the image of your sweet, earnest face when you told him that you loved him.
The image of your shattered heartbreak makes a few appearances, too.
It takes a few more days after that for him to realize something.
Love hadnât made Kuwabara weak (or any weaker, at least). In fact, love often powered Kuwabara up in fights. It gave him things to protect, a reason for fighting, a purpose for his powerâ
Hiei goes cold at the realization.
Attachments aren't always signs of weakness.
Attachments can be powerful.
Was he the fool, not you, for rejecting an attachment so quickly?
Hiei suspects he made a terrible error, and the moment he has this realization, he breaks into a run and rushes to your side.
Heâs not sure what heâs going to do or say to you to fix things, but he is determined to do exactly that.
Only you can say whether you forgive him or not, though.
KUWABARA
So Kuwabara hasnât been shy about his feelings for you.
Like⌠he hasnât been shy AT ALL.
He sings your praises to anyone whoâll listen.
He tells you youâre gorgeous every single day.
He says he loves everything about you all the time!
It was basically love at first sight for him. (Because thatâs just who he is!)
But as for you? It took you a little longer to come around.
Itâs not that you disliked Kuwabara or anything.
Itâs just that he came on strong and you were a little more cautious about jumping into a relationship than he was, that's all.
And he was totally cool with that!
âHey, you donât have to reciprocate!â he tells you when you indicate you donât feel the same way. âIâd wait for you forever, but if you never like me back, thatâs OK, too. I just want you in my life; if itâs as friends, thatâs fine, too!â
Your friendship is just as valuable to him as your romantic feelings.
Heâs not pushy at all despite his declarations; heâs a gentleman to the extreme, content to love you on your terms and never push for reciprocity.
But after a while, you start to look forward to seeing him.
You start to search for him in crowds, hoping to spot his shock of orange hair.
You start to miss him when he isnât around, craving his bone-crushing hugs and booming, exuberant voice.
And then one day you see something on TV and it reminds you of him, and you start smiling to yourself as you think about himâand it hits you.
OH NO.
YOUâRE IN LOVE WITH HIM, ARENâT YOU?
But heâs been saying he loves you for AGES⌠is it awkward that youâre just now ready to say it back?
You argue with yourself for days and days about what to do⌠but eventually youâre hanging out, and youâre listening to him be his boisterous and enthusiastic self, and it just spills out.
âKUWABARA-I-LOVE-YOU-OK!?â you blurt when he pauses for breath.
But⌠he doesn't react the way you think he will.
He just stares at you in silence, stunned, and you take that as a bad thing.
You get up to leave, muttering an apology as your cheeks burn, saying youâll see him laterâ
His hand darts out and closes around yours.
His face is on FIRE, but he stares up at you in wonder. In awe, even. Like the clouds parted and angels started singing.
âY-you do?!â he says, voice pitched up quite high, eyes as wide as they can go. âD-do you really? Do you mean it? Do you really love me back?!â
And you start smiling, and you start laughing and nodding, and he laughs too, and then youâre both in a puddle on the floor, arms around each other, just laughing together for the joy of it.
YUSUKE
Yusuke has been wanting to tell you how he feels about you for, uh..
Well. Itâs been a long time.
Youâve been dating for a long time, and youâve been through a lot together, and he can barely even look at you without blushing these days.
Heâs been in love with you for a long while, but like hell if heâll actually admit it.
Yusuke is NOT a mushy person, nor is he very in-touch with his feelings.
In fact, heâd rather take a sharp stick to the eye than ever admit how he feels about anyone.
But when YOU end up saying you love him FIRST, it does something to him.
He freezes. Stares at you. Blue-screens for a second.
And then he falls back on the one thing that has consistently aided him throughout his life:
Snark.
âWell damn, babe,â he drawls with a lazy grin (one that does NOT reflect how rapidly his heart is beating). âI knew I was irresistible, but if you really wanted to get laid, all you had to do was ask.â
You shriek and huff and walk off (and probably swat at his arm, though of course he dodges).
Itâs only when youâve stalked a good dozen meters away that his brain catches up with his mouth and he realizes that heâs fucked up.
Like, really fucked up.
So Yusuke curses and lurches after you and shouts, âHey, hey, wait a freakinâ second!â
But you donât stop walking.
You get halfway down the block with him trotting at your heels, telling you to just cool down and let him talk.
Eventually he gets in front of you and holds up his hands.
âNow, now,â he says (nervously; very nervously). âJust give me a chance toââ
NOPE. He ruined what couldâve been a cute moment and you arenât having it, so you dart around him and keep walking with your head held high (and a tear in your eye).
His arms are around you before you get far, though.
He buries his head in your shoulder and just holds you, and finally you feel itâthe way his heart is racing, thudding against your back.
âLook, I⌠I love you too, OK?â he mutters. âSo please donât goâŚâ
It almost makes you giggle, seeing him blush like this.
Almost, but not quite.
You know how big of a deal it is for him to say those words, so you just hold him right back.

Thirsty?
Finally, after three years, I've written something else for Hiei x Botan week! I'm a dreadfully slow writer, and this was meant to be out yesterday but whatever! It's still here and content is content!
Day 1: Desire
Let me know what you think, if you'd be so kind!
Botan swallowed thickly, her mouth dry, and feeling as though the temperature around her had suddenly risen to sweltering degrees. Something which Botan believed to be quite odd considering that it was a lovely Spring afternoon and she was sitting beneath the shade of Genkaiâs temple awning, high in the mountains. Yet even still, a bead of sweat trailed itâs way down the length of her neck, dipping beneath her blouse, and Botan began to fan herself with her hand, feeling overheated and flush. It was ever so strangeâŚ
A flash of movement in the templeâs courtyard drew her attention, and Botanâs eyes settled onto Hiei and Yusuke standing opposite one another, battered, bruised, and breathing heavily. They had been⌠âsparringâ, as Yusuke called it, training for the upcoming Demon World tournament, but from Botanâs perspective, it looked more like an all-out brawl. And both men could not have looked any more than pleased with themselves if they tried to do so. Botan sighed, shaking her head; she would never understand how they could be so happy to bash one anotherâs brains out, but she supposed it was just in their combative nature to be proud of their own strength⌠or more importantly, each otherâs. Not that they would ever admit that tidbit out loud of course.
Stifling a giggle at the thought, Botan watched on as Yusuke beckoned Hiei with one hand and faster than she could blink, the pair were at it again, fists flying at blinding speeds she was unable to keep up with visually. âImpressive as always,â Botan thought to herself, waiting for the pair to slow down enough for her to watch once more. From what she has been able to witness over the last few days, it appeared as though Koenmaâs concerns could be alleviated in some ways at least.
With the second Demon World tournament forthcoming, tensions in Spirit World were once again at an all time high. The previous tournamentâs winner, Enki, had been a benevolent soul, and under his reign, instituted a decree stating demon-kind must leave humanity in peace for the duration of his rule. However, with the very real chance that a new ruler would be crowned in the coming months, panicked whispers had begun to spread throughout Spirit World, terrified that peace between the three realms may crumble with a tyrant in charge, and the Kekkai Barrier no longer standing. And it was for that reason that Koenma had ordered Botan to oversee the former detectiveâs training; the prince having high hopes that Yusuke could emerge victorious, and maintain the precarious peace between worlds.
It was good news then, that after years of living a quiet life with Keiko and Atsuko in the Human world, Yusuke appeared to be just as strong as heâd ever been! It had taken him a few days to get back into tip-top fighting shape, but it was clear that Yusuke would stand just as good a chance at winning this year's tournament as any of the other known S-Class demons! And Hiei⌠Botan bit her bottom lip, fingers toying with the hem of her skirt anxiously; he was another matter entirely. Even just seeing him in the Human World after all this time had been wholly unexpected, but heâd arrived at the temple shortly after Yusuke had, set on âwarming upâ before the tournament started. And after years of continued service under Mukuro while working for the Border Patrol, Hiei had grown in more ways than Botan could have ever imagined. He was always strong of course, but nowâŚ
A sudden, thundering crash jolted Botan from her thoughts, and she snapped toward the source in a panic, seeing little more than a billowing cloud of dust and raining debris. After a moment of silence, the smokescreen was swept away by a passing gust, and Botan was surprised to see Yusuke lying flat on his back in the middle of the courtyard, the force of his impact having left an indentation in the ground beneath him. Just as she made to ask Yusuke if he was alright, Hiei dropped down from above, standing in between them and any concerns Botan may have held for Yusuke instantly died on her tongue. Her breath hitched, and goosebumps rose over the skin of her arms and neck as she soaked in the sight standing confidently before her; Hiei was shirtless. At some point during his high-speed duel with Yusuke, Botan could only assume that the sleeveless, powder-blue shirt Hiei had previously been wearing, had gotten torn from his body, the tattered remains clutched limply in Yusukeâs fist at the bottom of his own miniature crater.
âYouâve grown soft over the years Detective,â Hiei taunted, standing above Yusuke triumphantly.
âHiei had not,â Botan thought internally, staring wide eyed at the rippling muscles of Hieiâs broad back, slender waist, and powerful shoulders. He looked as though he had been sculpted from stone and his skin gently kissed by the sunâs rays. Botanâs tongue darted out to wet her lips, and she absentmindedly tucked a strand of errant hair behind her ear. This darn heat...
Below, Yusuke groaned as he sat up, rubbing his jaw gingerly, and spit a wad of blood and saliva to the side before hopping to his feet. He noisily cracked his neck to each side before jumping from the pit to stand in front of Hiei once more.
âGimme a break Hiei, Keikoâs made an honest man out of me after all,â Yusuke said with a hearty laugh, clapping a hand down on Hieiâs shoulder, âIâve just gotta get back into the swing of things. But look at you Hiei; Someoneâs finally learned how to throw a real punch! That last one actually hurt. Feels like your arm is made of steel man!â
Botanâs eyes wandered over Hieiâs âsteel-likeâ arms, noting just how much thicker they were from the last time sheâd seen him, the sealing bandages wrapped around his right arm stretched taut against his biceps and triceps, threatening to burst at the seams whenever he raised his fist. Why, she was sure even Kuwabara would be envious of Hieiâs new size and definition!
Hiei scoffed, slapping away Yusukeâs hand.
âHad you stayed in Demon World, you may have become a more worthy challenge. Youâll waste away here.â
âDonât you worry about me half-pint, when the time comes, Iâll be sure to kick your ass just like I used to,â Yusuke replied cheekily, waving Hieiâs ruined shirt between them, âIf I can take this off you, Iâm not as rusty as I think I am.â
Half-pint? Botan was astounded that Yusuke had the gall to even label Hiei such a thing, especially now that they practically stood eye to eye with one another. Sure, Yusuke was still fractionally taller, the pointed tips of Hieiâs hair not included in his height, but Botan was genuinely curious to know if Yusuke had noticed his former comrade had grown nearly a full foot since their last meeting. Because she certainly had... Botan even noticed that the once baggy clothing Hiei used to wear fit much more snugly on his frame, the black material of his trousers clinging shapely to his rear end and thighs, and now only needing one belt to keep them fixed into place! Another wave of heat passed over Botan once more, and she hurriedly fanned herself, trying to find some reprieve in her manufactured breeze.
Hiei snatched the shredded fabric out of Yusukeâs outstretched hand, and with a flare of dark energy, reduced it to cinders.
âDemon World wonât have just been sitting back, cooking noodles until the next tournament rolls around Yusuke,â Hiei bit back sharply, âCountless demons want your head. Either you rise to the occasion, or they will take it.â
âAww Hiei, is that why youâre here?â Yusuke replied with faux surprise, trying to contain his building laughter, âCause youâre worried about little olâ me? I always knew you were a softie Hiei!â
âFool. Go back to your hole.â Hiei growled, turning from Yusuke and beginning to stalk toward the forest.
âHey,â Yusuke called out, sounding more genuine and serious, âYou came all the way here to give me the kick in the ass I needed to get back on to your level... so thanks Hiei, I appreciate it. Iâll be ready for the tournament, you can count on it. No way Iâm dying before I beat your ass again.â
Hiei stopped and looked back over his shoulder at Yusuke, an unreadable expression across his face.
âHn. There wonât be any mirrors to save you next time Yusuke.â
Yusuke broke into a wide grin and threw himself at Hiei playfully, âLove you too Shnookums!â
Botan let out a gasp, hands flying to her cheeks and her eyes sparkling, too distracted by her own thoughts to notice Hiei dodging Yusukeâs advances in the courtyard, âWas Hiei always so kind and considerate!?â Botan asked herself incredulously.
Of course, she had always known Hiei to be a swell guy who held an obvious soft spot for Yukina, but this was the first time she had ever seen him go to such lengths to help out another person. Well, without being coerced into doing so that is. But still, it warmed her heart to witness first hand that Hiei truly did care for his friends and seemed to have grown comfortable enough to express those feelings in his own, awkward way. âPerhaps not in so many words... but actions always did speak louder for Hiei,â Botan thought with a giggle. Why, it was almost like Hiei had become a completely new man, and warmth blossomed in her chest realizing just how far heâd grown from being the nasty little criminal she had first met all those years ago. His maturation, both physically and emotionally, was really quite⌠attractive.
Botan could practically feel the heat rising from her cheeks and she buried her face into her hands as the realization dawned upon her; she was totally into Hiei!
Where had this come from and how could it have happened after so many years apart!? They had never been particularly close and she could practically count their personal interactions on both hands. She had always admired Hieiâs strength and reliability, but that certainly couldnât have been enough to evoke these feelings, right? Botan peeked through her fingers over at Hiei, finding both he and Yusuke chatting about something that she couldnât quite make out, but she glued her eyes to the fire demon, studying every aspect of him, searching for clues.
Hiei was an incredibly handsome man, and always had been, she supposed... but she had never really taken notice of his looks until after his prolonged absence. Before their separation, Hiei had always looked so angry at the world, his eyes sharp and distrustful of those around him. And too often had she felt his cold air of indifference or outright hostility directed toward their group of friends in the past than she cared to admit. Heâd been so rude and cruel to those around him for so long that Botan supposed it was those lesser quality traits that had kept her from seeing his more positive, physical aspects in the past. At the time, she just couldnât imagine him being a viable partner...
But now, Botan could see that Hiei had a more calm look on his face, the hardness in his eyes replaced by warm confidence and his body language more light and open, as though a massive weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Botan smiled fondly; whatever it was that Hiei had found in his life, it had clearly been good for him. Yusuke and Kurama had always placed their utmost trust in him, and years prior, she had wondered if they had been wrong to do so, but seeing Hiei now, it was clear that it was she who had misunderstood the way Hiei viewed his comrades. Just like Yusuke once told her; they could always depend on Hiei to save their butts in the end and realizing this to be true, allowed Botan to see Hiei in an entirely new light.
And his body!
Botan gushed, wiggling in her seat as she desperately fought off the giddy squeal of excitement that rose from the pit of her stomach. He was so incredibly sexy that she could hardly tear her gaze away from him! Never before had she been so fixated on a manâs physical prowess, but everything that Hiei had going on, just worked wonders for her. And now that he had turned toward her, Botan could fully appreciate his sculpted chest and core; each pectoral, oblique and abdominal muscle clearly defined by years of hard battle and religious training. Just the sight of them was enough to drive a girl insane with wanton desire and she could only imagine how warm and firm they felt under her finger tips. Her eyes moved ever lower, and the thought of what he may look like elsewhere drifted to the front of her mind...
âThirsty?â
A wet, frigid cold touched the heated skin of her neck, and Botan could not contain the wail of shock and panic that slipped past her lips as she jumped from her seat and into the courtyard.
âW-w-what was that!?â Botan exclaimed, spinning around to see what had touched her.
Her panic quickly melted into confusion upon seeing Shizuru standing in front of her with a pair of canned drinks in her hands, and wearing an all knowing smile. One that made Botan immediately flustered, and feel as though sheâd just been caught doing something she shouldnât have. Peeking back over her shoulder, Botan spotted both Yusuke and Hiei staring curiously over her outburst, but she hurriedly waved them off, trying to avoid eye making contact with either of them.
âShizuru, w-what are you doing here?â Botan stammered awkwardly, pawing at the air like a kitten.
Shizuru paused before answering, staring out into the courtyard and then back to Botan, who looked increasingly nervous as the seconds ticked by in silence. Taking a seat, Shizuru beckoned Botan over, and the pair sat side by side, long legs dangling over the walkwayâs ledge.
âKazuma heard from Kurama that Yusuke was up here training for that demon tournament,â Shizuru explained, tossing one of the canned beverages toward Botan who clumsily caught it, âHe wanted in, so he used that dimension sword thing of his to bring us up here; makes for cheap and easy travel you know. I figured you wouldnât be too far from the scene, so Yukina, Keiko, and I tagged along too.â
âO-oh! Well thatâs just grand! Yes! Itâs been far too long since weâve had a little get together, let alone some girl time,â Botan said, popping open her beverage and taking a sip. Tropical berries, yum!
âThatâs true,â Shizuru replied in a hushed tone, throwing an arm around Botanâs shoulders and pulled her in close, âBut it looks to me like youâd prefer some one on one time with Hiei instead.â
Botan promptly choked on her drink, coughing and sputtering as her drink went down the wrong way. Shizuru then gently patted her on the back until her airway was clear enough to take an inhale of breath.
âShizuru!â Botan exclaimed, positively aghast.
âAm I wrong?â
âI-I-I⌠well you see... but I didnât even... um, h-how,â Botan stammered erratically, breaking out into a nervous sweat, her face reddened in embarrassment and humiliation.
âUh-huh, thatâs what I thought sweetheart,â Shizuru stated smugly. âCanât say I blame you though, Hiei got really hot.â
Next to her, Botan tugged nervously on her ponytail, and nodded her affirmation. No sense in denying what was obviously true. âHow did you know? I only just found out myself.â Botan whispered meekly.
âWell, it was pretty easy, Botan. You were ogling him like you wanted to replace your oar with his-,â
âShizuru stop!â Botan wailed, trying to muffle Shizuruâs mouth with her hands but Shizuru leaned back out of the way, openly laughing at Botan's outrage.
Botan cast a panicked glance over to Hiei, hoping that he hadnât heard Shizuruâs crass words, but froze solid upon seeing that he was looking right at her, his crimson eyes smoldering and a seductive smirk playing at his lips. She wasnât even sure how it was possible to be both so incredibly mortified and aroused at the same time, but the look on Hieiâs face did both to her, and she couldnât help but shiver under his gaze, her heart thumping wildly in her chest.
It was then that Shizuru leaned in once more, whispering, âLooks like Hieiâs pretty thirsty too. Why donât you go give him a drink?â Shizuru then forced her own unopened beverage into Botanâs free hand and guided the ferry woman to her feet.
Across the lawn, Yusuke slapped Hiei noisily on the back, then jogged off with an amused cackle. Shizuru followed suit, sauntering away with a call of âGood luck,â before leaving Botan and Hiei alone to figure things out.
Botan swallowed thickly, briefly staring down at the chilled can in her hand, before returning her focus to Hiei. He... err, it was really was quite hot today... and she supposed that even fire demons like Hiei would need to quench their thirst on a day like today. Yes, she decided, there was nothing wrong with sharing a drink with an old friend. She took a tentative step toward Hiei and tried her best to ignore the butterflies in her stomach as Hiei began to advance on her in return.

Between Humans and Demons
Summary: A s Kuwabara gets older, he starts to notice the differences between himself and his demonic friends. A harrowing moment reminds him, that the differences don't really matter.
******
He closed his eyes.
The sound of metal wrapping around metal flooded his ears.
Even with his eyes closed, he was dizzy; could tell that he was rotating in the air, as the collision broke all around him.
Something shattered and sharp, sprayed against his face and dug into his skin, either falling away or embedding into his face.Â
Another crunching sound, and then Kuwabara was hanging suspended in the air, kept in his seat by the seatbelt that held him flush in place. His eyes were still closed, but they didn't need to be open to feel the spirit of the driver, and the other two people in the car with him, snuff out. Three candles being blown out in a slow breath.
Kuwabara should have gone with them.
Somehow, Kuwabara was alive, and something told him that that was strange. That he too, should have been snuffed out.
"Kuwabara!"
                   --------------------------------------------
Kuwabara had been thinking lately about the differences between him and his friends. The difference between being a human and a demon.
It had never really bothered him before, not as much as it had this year. But he was forty now, and things were more noticeable in his middle-aged years, rather than the twilight years of his youth.Â
As a teen, he had momentary thoughts of his friends' strength versus his own, but he had never dwelled.
But something about this fortieth year had made Kuwabara aware that he was becoming different from his friends. No... he was always different, wasn't he?
Still, he had never thought about it, so much as he had this year. He had never... noticed it before.
There were all these... these incidents that just kept... pointing it all out.
Like last month, when Kuwabara had taken Yusuke to a new Raman stand. Yusuke had wanted to scope out the competition, and Kuwabara had wanted to try their spicy cheese Raman bowl. The food had been good, and Kuwabara teased Yusuke about his lack of innovation in coming up with a new style of noodles. Yusuke had been glaring at him when the cart owner had smiled at Kuwabara and said, "You and your son get along pretty well, don't you?"
Yusuke had started choking immediately, and Kuwabara had started laughing.
The cart owner was pulled away by a new customer before Kuwabara could answer, but when he turned to Yusuke, he saw his friend didn't find the situation funny.
The look on Yusuke's face was uncomfortable, a little angry, pained... and sad.
Kuwabara closed his mouth.
They paid for their bowls and left, Yusuke uncomfortably quiet as they walked side by side.
When they passed by a store with a large window, Kuwabara looked at their reflections. Kuwabara, no longer sported the pompadour he was so proud of, but kept his hair shorter, his curls hard to manage at this length, and graying around his ears. He'd grown into his face and large frame, and while still strong and fit, there were wrinkles near his mouth, especially when he smiled; wrinkles in the corner of his eyes, and the furrow of his brow.Â
Time had slipped by, and Kuwabara had aged with it.Â
Yusuke hadn't.
Yusuke looked as young as any of the fifteen-year-old kids Kuwabara taught at his school.Â
He looked like he could be Yusuke's father now.
Kuwabara turned away from the reflection, and hooked an arm around Yusuke's neck, and dragged him in for a noogie.
He ruffled Yusuke's hair until, Yusuke was red-faced and angry, and Kuwabara forced a laugh so convincing, he fooled himself.
Yusuke laughed right along with him, and the cart owner's comment, wasn't brought back up.
Two weeks after that incident, Kuwabara had been hanging with Kurama in his greenhouse.
Kurama was tending to his plants, currently plucking purple blossoms from yellow-green stems with ease, telling Kuwabara about the latest trouble Hiei had gotten himself into. Something about refusing to have a birthday event, and incurring Yukina's wrath-which was all quite funny.
Kurama had missed a flower, and Kuwabara reached up to pluck it to offer it to his friend.
The petals pricked Kuwabara as sharp as needles, and chill followed by an intense pain began to burn his way down his fingertips.
"Kazuma, No!" Kurama shouted dropping his basket of flowers and lunging for Kuwabara's hand. He plucked the leaves of the same plant and immediately began to rub it on Kuwabara's smarting fingers, while encouraging Kuwabara to sit down.
Felling all too nauseous, Kuwabara was happy to oblige.
"I'm so sorry! I should have said something... this plant is a demonic variety of Poppy, and is extremely harmful towards humans. Very toxic, and with a mind of its own to cut the human flesh..." Kurama rambled, looking mortified over his mistake.
"Oh well... that's friendly..." Kuwabara grumbled, the chill and pain ebbing away as Kurama rubbed the leaves over his fingers.
"It's a common flower in the Makai... I just forgot..." Kurama mumbled. He paused, and let out a little sigh, "Well, as with most toxins, the antidote is normally within the same body of the toxin, and the leaves of this flower are the remedy for any damage it could do. We'll just have to be... I'll be more careful next time about warning you what I'm doing."
Kuwabara remained quiet as Kurama went on about what he was using the plant for, and the good uses the plant could provide. Kuwabara just quietly tried not to think about if he had been Hiei or Yusuke, the plant wouldn't have done anything to him. Tried not to notice that Kurama, like Yusuke, could pass for his son. He failed on those counts, but when Kurama turned to look at him Kuwabara smiled wide and told him not to worry about it.
"No harm no foul, Kurama. I just wanted to help... I should have been more careful, I know what type of plants you keep!" Kuwabara said, intentionally tilting his head and smiling at the fox. Forcing a goofy grin he knew Kurama to be weak to.
When Kurama returned it easily, Kuwabara felt that he had at least gotten that right.
And just a week ago, Hiei had taken Kuwabara by surprise.
It's not like it was a huge deal, but he had been startled by Hiei materializing in his classroom when his students were gone for their next class.
"Ah Jesus! Hiei, shit... you startled me!" Kuwabara had grumbled, heart, hammering in his chest as Hiei stared at him.
"...You didn't sense me coming?" Hiei asked, tone accusatory and a little disbelieving.
Kuwabara's spiritual awareness had reached its height in his mid-twenties, and he was very proud that even for those that tired... couldn't hide their presence from him. Kuwabara had been pretty smug the first time he revealed Hiei's carefully hidden location once outside of Genkai's shrine. Hiei's offended but impressed look still gave Kuwabara a sense of pride any time he thought about it.
Kuwabara sighed, "Maybe I'm just too tired or too old to detect you now..." he rubbed a hand over his eyes, and thought about the weeks of finals prep he had been doing lately for his students, "...Maybe just too busy..."
Hiei placed a wrapped bundle on the table, "Tired perhaps. And busy... clearly. But you're not that old." He said the words like he was offended.
"Old for a human," Kuwabara had grumbled, leaning back in his chair.
Hiei looked at Kuwabara like he had grown another head, "What are you talking about?"
Kuwabara sighed, and shook his head. He glanced at the bundle Hiei has set down on his desk and pointed, "What's that?"
"Yusuke and Kurama have been complaining you've been skipping meals because of work. Yusuke put you a bento together," Hiei answered, still giving Kuwabara a strange look.
Kuwabara smiled, "Aw... you guys love me."
Hiei made a disgusted sound, his mouth curling into a snarl.
Kuwabara laughed and opened the bento, tucking into the lunch before Hiei could say anything else.
Hiei watched him quietly, and Kuwabara turned to him, his cheeks stuffed full. Covering his mouth, Kuwabara mumbled out a muffled thank you.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Hiei asked reluctantly, "Your mood... has been off."
Kuwabara swallows slowly, and thinks of how to answer. Glancing at Hiei, Kuwabara takes in his young face, and shining red eyes. What does Hiei see when he looks at him? Has he changed a lot? Does Hiei notice the changes? Does he know what it means?
"Do I feel... weaker to you? Like... am I not as strong as... before?" Kuwabara asks before he can stop himself.
"...You're always weak," Hiei snorts immediately, and Kuwabara rolls his eyes in annoyance.
Hiei's hand is on his shoulder, and startles him, "But it's the same weak you've always been," Hiei's voice is low, and serious.
Anxiously, Kuwabara meets Hiei's eyes, and Hiei is studying him trying to figure out what has caused Kuwabara's impromptu question.
Kuwabara stuffs some rice into his mouth, "Sorry Hiei... I know I'm being weird. I'm under a lot of stress from work... just ignore me."
Hiei let out his own sigh, and headed for the classroom window. Looking uncomfortable he grumbled, "You should know by now, after all these years, you are one of the few people I can't ignore. Take care of yourself."
Hiei is gone hastily after that, but the warm feeling from his words sticks with Kuwabara all day.
Like a warning, all these little things kept piling up. Pointing out that there was a gap between Kuwabara and his friends. Kuwabara was aging, and he couldn't tell if that meant he was falling behind, or rushing forward without his friends. Whatever it was, it all led up to one thing, one path. He was different than his friends... and he would be gone long before he would ever see their first gray hair.
In this year, in which he had turned forty, he wondered if he was the only one that knew.
                    --------------------------------------------
"Kuwabara!"Â
Kuwabara opens his eyes in time to see Hiei ripping the door of the passenger side car off... what's left of it.
Kuwabara hurts all over, and he can feel blood dripping from his head.Â
Hiei reaches inside the car, bracing Kuwabara's shoulders, and rips the seatbelt apart with ease. Hiei catches Kuwabara's full dead-weight, and pulls him from the wreckage of what is left of the car. As Hiei hauls Kuwabara out, and settles him on the ground, Kuwabara gets a good picture of the fatal collision. Two cars had wrapped around each other, blending into one another in a harmony of a deadly wreckage.
"How...?" Kuwabara mutters, his head pulsing and aching, a red foggy cloud hazing his vision.
The section of the car Kuwabara had been pulled from seems oddly intact compared to the rest of the vehicle, and Kuwabra strains to remember a detail he knows he's missing.
Information comes slow, but it paints a picture of how Kuwabara had come to be this way.
It was late. The finals were over. He and the other teachers went out to celebrate. A beer and some food. Their designated driver got behind the wheel... they'd been safe.
They had been driving for only a few miles when a vision had prickled Kuwabara's senses. A car, full of drunk party-goers running a red-light at top speed. Their driver didn't see them coming. Kuwabara had known what was going to happen before it even happened. He had closed his eyes; there would be no time for warnings. Before he had closed his eyes, just a second before... a black blur had been in front of the car, his energy flaring up in front of him...
"Hiei... did you jump in between two colliding cars?" Kuwabara slurs, his voice very soft.
He looks at Hiei, everything spinning and moving violently. It's as he wants to puke that Kuwabara recognizes he has a concussion. He focuses on Hiei, rather than the bile climbing up his throat, and takes in the demon's expression. Hiei is bristled and clearly rattled, his eyes wild, and his aura flared with protective fright.
"You were going to die! That... that vehicle was going to colide with yours..." Hiei is livid, and scared in a way Kuwabara rarely sees from him. He stumbles over the word vehicle in a way that reminds Kuwabara that Hiei had once struggled with the concept of a car, and its function.
Trying to focus back in the present Kuwabara slurs, "You been following me?"
"I've got to keep an eye on you! And lucky I did! You would have died! You can't die!" Hieis hold is tighter, and Kuwabara is pressed into Hiei's side.Â
Kuwabara can feel a tremble in the shorter demon's body. Under Hiei's breath he hears a soft, "We can't..."
Hiei doesn't finish, but Kuwabara finishes the sentence for him inside his head, 'We can't lose you.'
So, Kuwabara is not the only one to notice the difference between he and his friends. They've clearly noticed... and they care. Kuwabara is not alone in his concerns that he's been trying to keep to himself. He never was. After all these years... you would think he would know that by now.
Kuwabara needed to have a talk with his friends. This was not something they could walk around. It was all too fragile. Rather than dodging the painful shards of what is to come... Kuwabara thinks instead, they should acknowledge it.
"I've got to get you to Kurama," Hiei forces some steadiness in his voice, and tries to move Kuwabara, regaining Kuwabara's focus.
"No, Hiei... you've got to leave me here-" Kuwabara whispers, because he can't will his voice to be louder.
"What are you-"
"Human laws are different... If you take me away from here, and its found out I left the scene... I could get blamed for all this. I need to get seen at a hospital and say what happened here," Kuuwabara softly interrupts, turning his bleary gaze to the wrecked cars. He fumbles for Hiei's arm and squeezes his arm, "You have to go. You can... can call for help for me, but you have to leave me here-"
Hiei's expression is pained and twisted.
That is the last thing he wants to do.
Kuwabara smiles, "You saved my life... but I can't leave the scene. I've got to... people need to know what happened." He gestures towards the wreckage, and then moans as it stirs some pain in his ribs. Fractures, maybe?
Hiei birstling with anger, sets Kuwabara down on the ground. He growls, "Fine. But I'm not fucking going anywhere. And you're going to be fine, or so help me I'll rip your spirit from Koenma myself."
Kuwabara wants to laugh, but his head hurts too much, "It's a concussion... and I've been banged up worse before. I'll be fine... Go Hiei. Please call for help."
Hiei closes his fists, and disapears.
Kuwabara takes a deep breath, his body tingling as he uses his own energy to assess the more damaged parts of his body... though honestly, thanks to Hiei, Kuwabara thinks the worst thing he has, is a concussion.
He doesn't need to be psychic to know what's going to happen next. What happens after Kuwabara's taken to the hospital, and after his three closest friends are at his side.
They're going to talk about this uncomfrotable distance, that Kuwabara has only just noticed, has sprung up betweent them, but has always existed. A distance that really isn't so large. Kuwabara's getting older. Things are changing. But he's not being left behind, or going on ahead.
They're walking their different paths together, all trying to keep pace. Yes. They'll part ways eventually, proably sooner than any of them woud like.
But as Hiei just proved, clearly they'll be willing to jump into one another's path to keep each other safe.
As the sound of sirens fill the air, and Hiei appears again, eyes burning bright with grim determination, Kuwabara feels settled for the first time in a long time.
Really, human or demon, different or not, it doesn't matter. Clearly, they can still care about each other, and still worry about the same things. The passage of time, or a difference in strength won't change that.

THE DISPOSITION OF A LADY
Part 1
(This is a sketch of what my female Kuwabara looks like. I took the liberty to sketch her face at least because Kurama's female self is more predictable. Japanese folk usually draw females with softer features than they do when they draw males.)
And the story begins... 3... 2... 1...
Kuwabara stared down at her reflection, her forlorn expression staring back up at her from the blackness of the deep abyss the area had for a lake. She felt lonely and yet wanted to be left alone as she stood upon that red bridge styled in the traditional way reminiscent of Samurai times. The trees were a lush green, the distant sun setting as the tremendous heat of the day began settling down.
She had came here due to an invitation, her friend Sayuri Minamino wanting to spend time with friends or least people she trusted. Currently, Sayuri was hanging out with Hiei and Yusuke, talking about what only the three and the gods above only seem to know...
Yusuke Urameshi...
Kaguya felt felt bitter when thinking about his name. The hurt was there and it seemed to wanted to stay. Maybe forever.
"I trusted you, but yet again you've abused that. You keep abusing that." She muttered hushly.
She thought back to the past and all the things they've been through as a team. Yes, there were good times, but most seemed awful...mostly because Kaguya would often end up as the biggest target amongst the four, other times because how her team treated her, let alone enemies.
"It's always been that way, though. You don't know it, Urameshi... but I've always been a target." She spoke to herself in barely a whisper.
She placed her arms on the rail of the bridge, folding them on top of each other, and rested her head sideways on top. She stood there hunched over like that for what seemed like hours, but it was only a little under a quarter of an hour.
Sayuri spotted her from afar and insisted to the others that, they, the three of them join Kaguya to watch the sunset. As beautiful as the setting sun was, it was an excuse Kurama made to give her female teammate some company.
Hiei rolled his eyes at the idea, which was typical. He didn't care about sunsets and he likewise didn't care to hang out with "the human".
Yusuke didn't seem to mind the idea so much until he laid eyes on Kaguya. His guilt began to flood inside him then. He may be a total and selfish jerk, but he wasn't completely heartless.
Not wanting to hide the obvious, nor wanting to lie about it, Sayuri grabbed Yusuke's hand and held on him as the three drew much nearer. Part of the reason was because he's her boyfriend, the other reason was because she was pushing Yusuke into acceptance for what he did to their friend.
Yusuke almost felt miserable. Almost. Him being with Kurama by his side helped him cope with the situation.
"Kaguya..." Sayuri spoke up.
Kuwabara lifted her head and looked at the other female before standing straight, forcing herself to grin and bear it all. She had a shit eating grin to say the least.
The fox released Yusuke's hand, somewhat to his disappointment, and joined the psychic.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Sayuri asked, smiling softly.
Kaguya nodded and then smiled more genuinely. "I like sunsets. Always have... but I used to prefer mornings about a year or so back beginning from childhood. I liked mornings for their meaning mostly... A new day, a new beginning, a new start...with the darkness being over with."
"Because of the ghosts?" Sayuri asked, remembering what Kaguya was willing to tell her.
"Yes, but mostly because of the terrible nightmares I had each night." Kaguya enlightened further. "I had terrible dreams, unspeakable horrors that played mostly while I slept. I still have them even until this day. I've come to accept them."
"What were the nightmares about, if you don't mind me asking?" Sayuri asked, concerned for her friend.
"Something bad." Kaguya responded. "I don't think you'd like to hear about it."
"Well, when you're ready to talk about them, I'm here for you." Sayuri assured her.
"It's a mess. I sometimes dream of being someone else from a different time, other times I'm me now...yet not so much." Kaguya confessed.
Sayuri blinked for a moment. "I think I know what you mean. I had dreams about Yoko's life before this one, seeing through his eyes...then dreams about...well, about daily life and its many troubles."
Kaguya inhaled. "I know I'm dreaming about a past life of mine, that's obvious to me...but it was far worse than mine is currently. It's strange...it doesn't make any sense to me yet it does."
"What do you mean?" Sayuri asked, concerned yet mildly curious.
"Well, I was a guy. And I was a prince." Kaguya informed. "...and I was not human. Far from it."
Kurama stared at her long and hard. "...how peculiar."
"Ya think?" Kaguya huffed. "In my dreams, beings called me--"
"Hey," Yusuke spoke up, interrupting the conversation, and having came upon them real quick. "It's getting dark and I'm fucking starved. I haven't eaten all day. Let's go."
Kaguya sighed.
Sayuri nodded at Yusuke in understanding.
"Where the fuck should we eat?" Yusuke asked.
"There's a nice restaurant nearby." Sayuri vouched. "Since its a little on the expensive side, I'll cover the bill."
Sayuri, Yusuke, and Hiei began leaving.
Sayuri paused and looked back. "Are you coming, Kaguya?"
Kaguya looked at the three looking back at her. She thought about her decision for a moment and then began following them, wanting her actions to speak for her.

Chapter 6: Clap Your Hands
âWhat have you done, Botan?â he asked her.
There were many ways she could have answered him, and so she was never sure why she chose the answer she did give.
âI was showing my son the human world. Now itâs getting late, I have to put him to bed.â
Koenma gave her a long, hard look before sighing softly and nodding his head. They never directly discussed the boyâs origins again after that moment. Botan took him to her room, and, unfortunately, that were where she remained with him for the next several weeks. Despite arriving home with him and telling herself she would return to Yukina within days, she never even got that chance thanks to just how much work the boy was. She made the mistake of unbinding him, and then had to expend all her energy maintaining a barrier to contain him within her room as he went on a rampage she thought would never end. He was destructive and dirty and angry and vicious, and he was incredibly dextrous, effectively wielding any object as a weapon and running, jumping and somersaulting over everything. He burned Botanâs bedding, and when she cried and told him it was a cruel thing to do when she was so tired, he laughed at her. After days of sleepless suffering, Botan became desperate to sedate him somehow, desperate to make a connection to him, to make him understand her pain and to understand that she just wanted to care for him.
She became so desperate, she unearthed a mixtape Kuwabara had recorded and distributed copies of to all his friends. He had written the name of the artist on the front, and she could vaguely recall that he had told her it was a selection of music by the twin brother of a member of Megallica, who, in his opinion, was an under-rated artist. There was also something about the brother originally being a member of Megallica, but he left the band because of artistic differences and his brother took over, but his brother had since died, and Kuwabara was hopeful the exiled brother would return to the band, but she could not remember the brotherâs name, and she could not even read the name that was written on the tape.
She put the music on, and, for the first time in days, the boy stopped moving. He went very, very still, his feral, maniacal perma-grin slowly easing, his wide, wild eyes slowly softening, and curiosity overtook rage as he turned towards the stereo, padding towards it â he was still completely naked as he would not stay still long enough for Botan to dress him â and staring at it in fascination. Botan had thought the tape would have contained songs, but apparently it was just rhythmic acoustic guitar music: but it seemed to have put the boy into a soothing trance. Botan sank onto her bed and tried not to cry. She started nodding her head in rhythm to the music, and the boy turned to her, looking up at her with large, curious eyes. He actually looked like a child in that moment, and he almost looked cute â but Botan was still somewhat wary. When he started to nod his head along with her, she smiled and clapped her hands along with her nods: and, to her utter disbelief, the boy smiled sweetly and started clapping with her.
Botan sank off her bed, kneeling down in front of the boy as tears of joy and relief filled her eyes. They clapped their hands and nodded along, and his face became softer and sweeter. She got a little too confident, as she held out her hands for him to clap his hands against hers, and when he did, he almost broke her wrists with his ungodly strength. She yelped and he laughed, but it was not the sinister laugh he had been making before. After dancing around to a few songs, the boy sat down, his hands slowly fell to his sides, and soon after, he lay down, curled up in a ball, and fell soundly asleep.
Botan leaned over him, waving a hand over him. When his little chest continued to rise and fall steadily, his eyes remained closed and his face soft, she dared to stroke his head, smiling to herself when his spiky hair sprang back into place behind the pressure of her fingers. She dared to let her barrier down, and she turned her attention to the mixtape, the thought then occurring to her that it was sickeningly ironic that the one thing to calm Kuwabaraâs wild emiko child was one of Kuwabaraâs wild mixtapes. Still perplexed by the writing on the cassette box, Botan called Keiko from her communication mirror, laughing off the comments Keiko made about how frazzled she looked before showing Keiko the tape and asking her what it said.
âOh no!â Keiko had giggled. âYou actually listened to that tape? Iâm sure Kuwabara would be pleased one of us did! But the name, itâs a foreign name. Apparently Daiki Yoshida â the twin brother of Daichi Yoshida â wanted to explore Latin guitar music or something. Thatâs the name of his band. Itâs pronounced Charanko.â
As Keiko said the word, the boy on the floor lifted his head, rubbing at large, sleepy eyes with his tiny, chubby fists.
âCharanko?â Botan repeated.
The boy looked directly at her and she smiled.
âCharanko,â she said softly.
