Personal Space
Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw x reader
Summary: you love your personal space. Unfortunately, Bradley also loves your personal space.
Pt. 2
You never understood why Bradley stuck around. Since the academy you’d preferred to stick to yourself; get your head down and get the job done. Especially with a surname like Mitchell. You didn’t want your father and grandfather’s reputation to negatively proceed you, and by the time people had put two and two together as to whom loins you came from: you’d made your own reputation so Maverick never made much of a difference to it.
But still, having dinner in the mess you’d sat down, when someone came and thudded down next to you and began eating themselves. “I’m Bradley” he said when you finally looked up at him. You raised a brow “Bradshaw?” You ask and he nods: you recognise him from the photos your dad pinned up in your two’s hanger. You hum “and you are?” He asks “not important.” You reply, deciding you’d lost your appetite and stood to clear your plate “good talk!” Bradley said, but you were already walking away.
He’d next encountered you when you were running around the academy, early morning; before any naval training would take place. He hummed and decided it was perfectly acceptable to interrupt your jaunt with his presence. “Hey! Up so early?” He asks as he tries to match your pace from a standstill “could ask you the same.” You reply bluntly “well I wanted to get a run in before-” “well there’s your answer.” You reply, cutting him off. “You run really quick.” He says as you try to keep your pace increasing to shake him off “goodbye, Bradshaw.” You say, pulling your sunglasses over your eyes and taking off at a pace he couldn’t sustain. He just stops and shakes his head smiling, you were funny.
Eventually, you’d both gotten up in the air and were quick to earn your callsigns “Rooster” and “Hen”. Bradley earned his because he was up before the chickens, you’d earned yours because the chicken kept fucking following you around like you were his mother. You were sat on the aircraft carrier, your trainee group learning how to land on a ship deck and you’d finally gotten a moment of peace that evening. You sat on the edge of the deck, feet dangling over the edge as you watched the sunset, not moving when you hear someone slip into the space between the barriers beside you.
“Oh look my chick is back.” You mumble sarcastically and Bradley laughs loudly at you. “You love me really” he says, looking at you as if he wanted to you agree with him “you seem to keep telling yourself that, don’t you?” You hum, turning to watch the sea lap against the grey metal. You can feel him fidgeting beside you, as if antsy to say something. “What?” You ask, finally turning to look at him. “What?” He repeats, looking at you with raised brows “you want to ask me something. You’re fidgeting.” You point out “so ask me or fuck off” you say, turning away again. “Your last name is Mitchell” he says and you roll your eyes “you can read and hear. Two things I’ve learnt today.” You huff, again, with sarcasm. “Are you related to Pete Mitchell?” He asks, looking at you and nearly holding his breath “you finally put two and two together?” You ask and he lets out the breath.
“Yeah, he’s my dad.” You say after a while “I was a whoopsie baby my mother didn’t want anything to do with” you tell him. “He used to fly with my dad.” Bradley almost whispers, voice just a few octaves above. “I know” you nod “he’s practically wallpapered all over our hanger.” You say “so are you” you eye him. “He pulled my papers” he says, again after a few moments of silence “I know” you say “do you know why?” He asks “yes.” You reply, and he could tell you weren’t going to elaborate. “Y’know I’m not a fan of your dad, but I really like you.” He says and you just look at him with a blank face. “Yup” you hum to yourself and he raises a brow “just as Mother Goose was described” you say, and Bradley’s face immediately lights up with a huge grin, stretching and arm around you and pulling you into his side.
“Get off me.” “Yup, yep, sorry.”
For your first deployment, the academy set it up that you’d at least be with one person from your training squadron, and today the list of names were coming out; they were scribbled on the back of a napkin and pinned to a notice board.
“1. Haywood & Solomons, 2. Hughes & Shelley & Omaha, 3. Cooper & Parker & Cromwell & Smith, 4. Bradshaw,” you crossed your fingers as someone read out the names, then yours was read alongside Bradley’s “oh for god’s sake” you grumble, turning to see Bradley practically jumping for joy. “This is great! Me and you, Hen!” Rooster cheers and you just stare at him “should’ve called you leech cause you’re acting like one. Calm down.” You instruct and he tries to chill out, but the cheeky smile on his face was indiminishagble.
He only became more unbearable then, with you every working hour, your wingman on the missions you’d fly, inseparable despite your complaints. “Where’s your boyfriend?” Hawk asked you, as he came to sit with you for lunch. You shush him loudly. “Woah woah I only asked where he was.” “Speak his name and he shows up. I’m trying to hide.” you say in a hushed voice “plus he isn’t my boyfriend” “sure” he scoffs but the daggers being shot into his head silenced him easily.
“Hey Hen! Hawk” Bradley greets as he sits down. You grunt and point an accusatory finger at Hawk “this is your fault, jackass” you say and he laughs at you, him and Bradley engage in conversation as you just eat, having learnt the skill of drowning him out. “What about you, Hen?” Hawk asked, drawing your attention away from your plate and up to the two men alongside you, you raise an eyebrow - letting them know you were insinuating that you weren’t listening to their conversation.
“Do you want a family?” He ask and you just nod “really?” Hawk asks “that’s cute, didn’t take you for a family gal” he jokes and you harshly kick his leg under the table “kids and everything?” He asks after the pain subsides. “Yup.” You say and Bradley hums “I didn’t know that” he says and you just look at him “you never asked.” You reply simply, and that was true: he hadn’t. He was quite prepared to spend the rest of existence chasing after you, whether that meant giving you your first kiss on your deathbeds.
The two of you even went to Top Gun together, training to be the finest naval aviators of them all. And boy, you two fought to be the best; tongue and teeth, blood sweat and tears, everything. The decision came down to one final dogfight. “May the best aviator win” Rooster jokes, sticking out a hand to you. You eye it and internally question if you were insane, before leaning up to peck his cheek. “Prepare to loose, chicken.” You say, leaving him frozen in his place while you head to your plane. That day, Bradley was seriously off his A-game, and you came out on top.
A Mitchell finally Top Gun.
“Congratulations!” Bradley says excitedly on graduation day when you victoriously lifted the trophy above your head. You turned to him and he leant down slightly - you weren’t stupid, you knew what he was intending to do. “Thank you, Brad.” You say, turning to walk over to where your father was stood - knowing that was probably the only time Bradley wouldn’t follow you. That was the first time you’d ever called him anything short of Bradley Bradshaw.
“I’m so proud of you honey” your dad says, hugging you tightly and you embrace him back, smiling widely “thank you, dad” you respond and he looks behind you where Bradley was stood a while back, watching the ordeal. “Is that-” “yes” you tell him and your dad just looks at you “I wouldn’t get all teary he follows me like a lost puppy” you grumble but he just grins “he’s a good kid, hon.” He says and you shake your head “he’s definitely something”
“So how does their relationship work?” Bob asks Hangman, watching Bradley talk your ear off and you just staring ahead into space, blankly. “You see Bobby my boy,” Jake begins “Hen loves her personal space” Bob nods “Rooster also loves Hen’s personal space.” Bob nods again, now understanding. “Haven’t they done everything together though?” He asks “I think it’s more the fact that Hen does something and Rooster just kinda goes with it” Phoenix said and Bob hums, as Bradley continues to converse one-sidedly with you.
“He means well” you hear from beside you as you stare out from the hanger, turning to see your honorary uncle Tom walking towards you, you run towards him as he embraces you tightly “hey Ice” you smile, sweetly. “Hey sweetheart” he croaks. “I mean what I said.” He states and you raise a brow “he means well” he nods towards the man doing his required push ups on the ground with Hondo. “I know, Ice.” You tell him. “No, I don’t think you do” he hums and you raise your eyebrows at him. “The kids in love with you. You’ve either got to let him in or tell him to get out.” He says, “you’re living together for goodness sake”. “It was cheaper” you argue “we both know the accommodation is subsidised.” He states, matter-of-factly, patting your shoulder as he turns to go talk to your dad when he walks into the room.
It was true, you and Bradley were sharing accommodation. “Hey Hen, they’ve offered us shared accommodation back in Miramar” Bradley says, coming over with a pamphlet. “Why?” You ask, taking it out of his hands. ‘Married couple accommodation’ it states and you raise your brows “you getting ahead of yourself, Bradshaw?” You ask and he shakes his head “the guy assumed our callsigns were cause we’re a couple” he tells you and you just hum. “Well I’d rather stay there than in an apartment.” You say simply, giving him back the leaflet and refocusing on the plane you were working on repairing. “Seriously?” He asks, voice overly hopeful. You look at him and shrug “just go get the damn house, Bradshaw. Before I change my mind!” You say and he grins, turning and breaking out into almost a jog to head to confirm your living situation.
You take a moment of hesitation, before loudly groaning and heading out onto the tarmac, getting down and doing push ups alongside Rooster. He turns his head and looks at you and you just raise your brows at him. “Hey honey” he grins “hello Bradley” he nudges your hip with his own. “I’ll drive us home.” You tell him, and he raises his eyebrows “Home?” He asks and you huff “okay, Bradley I will drive the two of us back to our shared accommodation that we accidentally got given.” You say and he laughs loudly “home sounded better.”
Then after the mission, the whole Dagger squad got permanently stationed in San Diego, other than deployment, so they urged the new additions to the base to buy their own properties closer to base rather than on it. You and Bradley were sat in the Hard Deck, a long time before it was open, the rest of the Daggers spending time on the beach while the two of you were scouring Bradley’s laptop for a property. Well, Bradley was.
How about this one? He turns his screen to you. You shake your head “I want grass in the garden. I want to plant flowers” you say as you point at the paved back of the house, explaining that it’s a waste of money to have it ripped out. Bradley nods “Mkay, garden” he says, moving back to look again.
“How about this one? Beach front, close to the running track for you. Only a walk from the Hard Deck. White picket fence, really” he hums, turning the laptop again “garden?” You ask and he nods “garden.” He nods with a grin. “Shall we go look?” You ask and he raises a brow at you. “You said it’s a walk from the hard deck. Let’s go.” You say, putting the address into your phone and immediately recognising the street name, Bradley quickly falling into step with you as you walk towards the property.
You look at it and place your hands on your hips. Bradley was right. Pretty damn perfect. “Can I help you?” A lady asks, walking outside of the house, clipboard in hand. “Oh no, we’d just seen this property online and wanted to take a look.” Bradley tells her. “Well I’ve had a no-show on a viewing. How’d you like to take a look?” She suggests, motioning to the open door. “Okay” you nod, following her into the house.
“Obviously the kitchen, living room, even a deck out back with a huge garden and high fences” she says nodding out the window and you hum. “Out the side there’s an entrance straight to the beach” she motions, then starts heading up the stairs “three bedrooms, attic space, bathroom” she says “I’m guessing it’s just you two at the moment?” She asks “oh we’re not-” Bradley begins “yes, just us.” You confirm, shutting him up. “Okay, so there’s a large room for your bed and then if any new additions are to join, you have the space for them” she smiles and leads you back out front.
“It’s not cheap, it’s California. So I understand if you’re not prepared to pay that much money, do you mind me asking what you do?” She asks “we’re naval aviators.” Bradley says “stationed here?” She asks and you both nod “ah! I get why you’re looking for a property here!” She says and Bradley looks at you. “I really like it, Roo.” You say, and Bradley has to stop his jaw hitting the floor at your nickname. “It’s your call, honey” he says and you look at the lady and smile as she offers her hand “we’ll take it.”
“How shall we split the payment?” You ask Bradley as you walk back to the Hard Deck after organising a meeting with the realtor to actually finalise all the kinks and bumps. “I don’t mind doing the down payment then we’ll take it in turn paying the loan” he suggests “we can get a joint bank account and do it that way” you say and he agrees as you settle back into your seats at the Hard Deck. “Where’ve you two been?” Hangman asks “we bought a house.”
One evening, after you were all moved in and were hanging out at the Hard Deck after a long day or routine flying, you were sat outside with Rooster; watching the sunset. “When are we getting married then?” You ask and he spits out his beer “what?” He asks, eyes wide and getting progressively more giddy. “Well we live together, we have a joint bank account, and Jake keeps telling me we’re practically married. So when are we getting married?” You ask as he hugs you tightly “whenever you want, baby” he says, kissing the top of your head and pulling a ring out of his pocket to get on his knee. “Will you marry me?” He asks and you raise a brow “didn’t I just say that?” You ask bluntly “just say yes, please” he begs and you nod “yes. Yes I will marry you, Bradley Bradshaw.” You confirm as he kisses your lips gently.
“Okay get off of me now.”

jade my heart I’m really feeling Peter parker tonight in this chilis. maybe just Pete listening to r go on about something she likes? Like a book or a tv show and he’s just listening but also so obsessed with her and thinks she’s adorable? I love u! 🫶🏻
ily ty for requesting <3 fem
“It’s a prequel, you know?”
Peter feels fondness for you pretty much every second of the day, but the way you’re asking without looking at him, and the way you’re laying across his lap so unbothered, he finds himself grinning like a mad man. “I did not know that,” he says.
You nod up and down with a severe sort of look about you, as though this is of the utmost importance. If Peter doesn’t get on the same page as you soon, he’s not gonna make it. “I can’t believe you’ve never seen the first trilogy. Like, I like you so much, but where the hell have you been?”
“Where have I been?” he wonders.
“Anyways, that’s not the point, sorry. They’re complicated movies. You’d like them, though. Next time I’ll bring my DVD’s and we can watch them, if you want to, you’ll really like them, or you’ll really like Natalie Portman, at least. She’s beautiful. And her character is so… complicated, I guess, she’s doomed from the beginning of the narrative and she’s the catalyst for so much but she’s also just… sorry, I’m being totally boring.”
“Says who?”
Doesn’t take much more than that to get you rolling again, you want to tell him that badly, “I don’t wanna spoil it anymore because I really think you’ll love them if you watch them, but you’re gonna need to watch the first trilogy to get the emotional impact, and you’ll love them, don’t worry.”
“I’ll love them,” he agrees, attempting to lean down for a kiss.
“Wait, is this a shut me up kiss?” you whisper.
Peter shakes his head as he kisses you, serving for a wobbly but soft press of your lips to his. “Never. Tell me everything about it.”
You talk until you’re hoarse, literally hoarse, and Peter has to make you a cup of water. His cheeks are hurting from smiling at you. You’ve never looked this cute, not once, not even when he took you to Coney Island and you screamed the house down on all the rides.
“I think we better go and get those DVDs,” he says.
“It’s dark out,” you say.
“We’ll swing.”
“Isn’t that against your code of ethics?” You sip your drink, pointing at him. “We’ll hear someone who needs help on the way and you’ll drop my extended editions to save them.”
“I won’t drop anything,” he says. “Come on! Come on, if you’re this excited just talking about it I wanna see how pretty you are when we’re actually watching the movies.”
You press your smile into a line. “You’re not just humouring me?”
“I could listen to you talk for hours, baby, but you sound like you did the second time we got off of The Cyclone.”
You do a spinning, meandering dance into his arms. “If you insist.”
Your feigned reluctance is adorable. He grabs you in both hands for another misaligned kiss.

Ashes, Ashes | One | Bradley Bradshaw
masterlist | prologue | next chapter
Synopsis: In which Maverick didn’t make it home after the Uranium mission. He’s missing, presumed dead. There are things that have to be done — someone has to take care of the house, the bills.
So, Maverick’s daughter is back in Fightertown for the first time since she was in elementary school. There’s a gaping hole in both of their lives now, and somehow, the world’s supposed to just keep on turning without him.
Warnings: bradley bradshaw x minimally descriptive oc avery mitchell, age gap (23/33), smut, angst, hurt / comfort, mentions of character death, mourning, military inaccuracies. This entire fic and my blog is an 18+ space, minors do not interact. Do not repost.
…
Crossing the threshold into Maverick’s home doesn’t come naturally to either one of them. This place is something that they had both left behind. Outgrown. It’s solely his. It’s not their home and it has never been, until now. Now, Avery, at least, is stuck here until things are figured out.
On that fourteen hour drive down to San Diego, she’d had a lot of time to think. How long is a person supposed to wait for a body to turn up before they go ahead and throw the funeral without it?
Three paces into the hallway, brown wood floors and white walls, she is met with a smiling family picture. Only, she’s not in it.
Because, it’s not a picture of Pete’s family. Pete doesn’t have a family. Pete Mitchell has a daughter from a one night stand with a married woman.
This picture is of a real family. Hung on the wall opposite the front door is a picture of Nick and Carole Bradshaw holding their infant son. He’s bald and gummy. They’re grinning and showing him off like a prize trophy — so proud of him even though all he did in those days was drool and pee himself.
These days, their infant son is up to more important things. Their infant son grew to an upsettingly grand height and is carrying two of her bags in one hand behind her today.
“C’mon, Mitchell — these are heavy.” Bradley huffs softly from behind her, reminding her that she’s standing stationary and blocking his path.
The nickname stings. Avery’s last name isn’t Mitchell because her biological father had wanted it to be. It’s Mitchell solely because her mother’s husband knew she wasn’t his and would rather die before letting her take his name.
She shrugs her duffel bag closer to her body and turns left. Bradley huffs under the weight of her luggage, watching her walk her cute butt in completely the wrong direction. “Wait, where are you going?”
Not struggling at all under the weight of her single duffel bag, she turns slowly to face him and frowns slightly. “My room.”
Avery doesn’t remember Bradley. Not in her own memories, anyway. She knows he was around, she’s seen him in pictures but the image in her head doesn’t match. Not quite right. Like puzzle pieces bent and forced together.
He’s taller than he looked at his high school graduation, which sits pictured and framed above Mav’s mantle. Older, but that’s to be expected. Up close, he looks more like his mother than his father. A slight bump in his nose and scars, nicely healed, but jagged and raised nonetheless dusted his cheek and his throat.
Even with all those differences, there’s a very slight familiarity to him that makes this all feel a little bit less suffocating.
Bradley’s brows draw together. He gives a small nod in the direction of the spare room. “That’s… I usually stayed in that room.”
“Oh.” Avery realises with a hum. With Bradley being ten years your senior, the room was his long before it was hers. With him growing up so close by, it was probably his much more frequently than it was hers, too. It’s not like she had ever kept anything here anyway. It’s just a guest room that she would occupy every now and again.
There’s a brief quiet between the two of them.
“I just figured you could take the big room. ‘Til you get settled. I’ll go home once your car is fixed, if that’s what you want.” Bradley adds on. That sad little look on her face, right in front of him, is killing him.
The big room. The loft room upstairs. Avery thinks about it and finds herself pretty sure that she’s never even been upstairs in this house.
“You’re staying too?”
Oh. Yeah. He hadn’t addressed that point yet. Truthfully, he hadn’t even been planning to stay. He hasn’t even packed an overnight bag. But, from the second that she had stepped out of the car and looked up at the house with that look on her face, he hadn’t even considered leaving her here alone.
“Just ‘til we get your car fixed,” He offers with a small shrug. “I’ll be here to run you around until then.”
Like he’s doing this for her sake. Natasha has her own life to get back to and Bradley can’t stand the thought of going back to his apartment alone.
“Okay,” Avery agrees, turning to peer down the hall towards the spare room. It’s nothing special — it really never felt like hers, anyway. “Alright, I’ll take Pete’s room.”
Pete. She calls Maverick ‘Pete’ now.
Bradley just nods, shifting the weight of her bags and nodding for her to head for the stairs. All the floors in this house are tan oak. The entryway is now herringbone. With the help of a friend, Pete had done the entire thing himself.
Of course, as they walk silently across it, neither one of them would know that. Neither one of them was speaking to him last May, which was why he had needed a project in the first place.
Natasha’s outside on the phone. Bradley’s footsteps thud on the wood of the stairs behind her, following her up. She stops at the top, leaving just enough room for Bradley to stand there behind her.
The door to Maverick’s room is open. His bed is made. There’s a book thrown on top of it, the spine cracked and used, the pages yellow from years out in the sun.
“No way is he still trying to fucking finish War and Peace.” Bradley steps around her and heads straight for the book. Pete started this book before Bradley finished elementary school. Bradley twists and looks back at her. “He always gets bored and stops reading, then forgets his page and starts again.”
Another slow nod. One foot in front of the other, her shoes along the tan oak floors. Her fingers trail the white walls. Maverick wouldn’t have minded. This place was always messy before. It’s not now.
This house is vacant and quiet, but it’s far from empty. It’s filled to the brim, practically pulling apart at the seams with everything that Maverick was and planned to be. He was finishing War and Peace — he made it to chapter 253 this time; further than he had ever made it before.
Suddenly, Avery’s throat is thick with the knowledge that all she knew Maverick to be, is now all that he’ll ever be. An absent father, a fantastic pilot, a lousy cook. A thousand more things that she’ll never know.
Four days of knowing, a fourteen hour drive down here, and it’s a book that stings like a cold slap to the face, reminding her of why exactly it is that she’s here.
Fire burns behind her eyes, blistering and stinging as Bradley sets her bags on the floor with a soft thud.
He turns with his attention completely on the book, his fingers extending towards the peeling cover of the paperback. His fingers curl around its weathered pages and he lifts it tenderly, examining the front at first.
It’s too early to start this process bawling her eyes out, and Avery refuses to let Russian Literature be your downfall, again.
That thick feeling sits in her throat like a stack of weights as she sits down on the end of Maverick’s bed. The mattress is soft, taking her weight without a squeak of complaint. Maybe he finally listened to her and got a bed that wasn’t so harsh on his back.
It’s been almost two years since she had even set foot in this house last. If she had known that Maverick was going to be gone this soon… she sits and thinks to herself about if she would have maybe visited more. Probably not.
“I’ll change the sheets and stuff, then I’ll get out of your hair for a bit.”
Lifting her head, she blinks at him. He has already started to pull back the comforter and strip the bottom sheet from the bed, awkwardly forcing her onto her feet again.
Mobile once more, Avery turns slowly to take in her surroundings. This is Maverick’s room. It’s his house, she was prepared for that much — but this is his room. The last thing she wants is to be alone in it all night.
“Oh. Sure,” She nods, setting into motion to help take the sheets off.
He’s so methodical about it, like none of this phases him at all. But then, she hasn’t seen how he has been for the past few days.
“I was thinking of just ordering food tonight, since I’m kinda tired — and Pete never had groceries. Would you want… to maybe join?”
“Sure.” Bradley nods, tugging the pillows out of the cases. He glances up to her with a strictly polite, neutral smile. Quiet settles between the two of them until the bed is just a bare mattress and uncovered pillows.
Then, there’s a moment of total stillness between the two of them. Her gaze flickers up, meeting his, and the realization settles between the two of them.
Maverick’s favourite cologne was a French thing that some woman in the eighties had liked. Citrus in the shade of cypress wood. The scent fills the room like he’s standing between the two of them.
Bradley glances down at the white sheets in his hands. The snowy white peaks of those mountains, Maverick’s aircraft spiralling into them, engulfed in flames. In a sick way, Bradley hopes that he didn’t manage to eject. At least then, it would have been instant. Maverick wouldn’t have felt anything.
Avery watches his adam’s apple bob in his throat from the other side of the bed. The last you had heard, Mav and Bradley weren’t on speaking terms. She wonders if this is as weird for him as it is for you.
“I’ll put these in the washer. You can… unpack, or whatever.” He decides finally, already taking one step backwards, headed for the door. She stands there, blinking at him. Even with those steeped, broad shoulders, he makes it through the doorframe unscathed before he turns to check where he’s going.
He probably knows this house inside and out, just like he knew her dad. Once.
When it comes to wracking her brain and trying to remember Bradley Bradshaw, Avery can’t ever come up with anything. Maybe a glimpse, here and there. A blue t-shirt with green stripes. His school backpack accidentally left in the backseat of Maverick’s convertible beside her shoddily installed car seat.
Truthfully, her experience with Bradley Bradshaw is limited. He’s just as real to her as any of the other guys in the stories she grew up hearing about. Her very own Peter Pan is downstairs right now, trying to figure out Maverick’s ancient washing machine, just so that he doesn’t have to stand up here and stare across at her.
He can’t hide from her forever, though. Evening comes, and so does hunger.
He stares down at the pizza between the two of them as he chews through a bite, brows drawn together slightly. He hates thin crust pizza — it’s the worst kind of pizza. But, when she had suggested it, he had agreed with a tight-lipped smile.
Natasha has gone home. It’s just the two of them, now. Sitting in this unchanged, all too familiar kitchen. Avery has barely unpacked. She set up a couple of things in Maverick’s bathroom, but it doesn’t feel right to be in the big room upstairs. That wasn’t ever her space to claim.
She chews absentmindedly at the bite she had taken. The TV in the living room is off. The record player is coated in a layer of thin dust already. It’s dead quiet. The kitchen light is dim above their heads.
There’s a chip in the corner of the table on Bradley’s side. It’s there because Bradley was running through this kitchen when he was four years old and had tripped and knocked his front tooth out right here. His thumb trails the tiny mark, wondering how his teeth had ever been that small.
Wondering why she isn’t angry with him, too.
Maverick had picked him up that day, turned him around and held Bradley while he cried, stemming the blood and quickly introducing the concept of the tooth fairy. He had done all that he could, and Bradley still found a way to resent him for what had happened to his own father.
Bradley hasn’t ever done a thing for Avery. Except maybe pay for this pizza. And here she is, calm as can be.
The sauce base feels tangy and coppery, and the cheese makes him want to puke. He sets the slice down on his plate and wipes his hands on the paper towel beside him.
Finally, he lifts his head and looks at her. Her hair is up differently now, tucked out of your way after an afternoon of manual labour upstairs, tidier than it had been earlier. She’s wearing a stretched out old t-shirt. Bradley assumes she got it from a boyfriend.
Really, he doesn’t think she looks that much like her old man. He would really have to search for the resemblance. But, briefly, when she offers him a polite smile across the table, he knows that you’re Mav’s kid.
“I’m sorry.” Bradley blurts out. They both look across at each other, equally surprised that he has spoken.
“…For what?” Avery asks quietly, lips tugging into a small frown.
“I’m sorry that I’m here and he’s not.” He’s just got to say it. He knows she probably wouldn’t bring it up on your own, but there’s a big elephant in this room. Bradley knows what it’s like to sit in her spot, and not know how to talk about it.
It’s his fault that Maverick didn’t make it home.
She stops chewing. That last bite sits in her mouth, doughy and dry all of a sudden. She stares across at him, awkwardly making herself swallow down the last of her bite of pizza and picking up the paper towel to wipe at her mouth.
“We weren’t that close.” She tells him, like that’s supposed to make him feel better. It doesn’t. It’s like a blow to the chest. She’ll never get the opportunity to fix things, because of him.
But, he knows what it’s like to be told how to grieve. He just dips his head and nods awkwardly. “Right.”
“I got a call from an admiral the other day,” She picks up the slice of pizza and pick at its toppings. There’s no one here now to tell her not to play with your food. Mav never really cared anyway. Bradley watches her, unhungry. “Invited me down to Miramar. He said he was a friend of Mav’s and that he could talk me through… this whole thing. How it works.”
Bradley rubs a hand over the neatly trimmed hair above his lip. It feels like he has swallowed a golf ball, sitting here like it’s normal to be discussing the measures.
He knows how it works. It won’t be as simple as it was with his own father. At least Maverick had afforded him something to bury. For her, there’s nothing.
“I’ll have to be there around eleven.”
“Sure,” Bradley nods, scratching at the back of his neck. His legs tingle with stiffness. Clearing his throat, he shifts in the little wooden chair and stretches, knocking his foot into hers under the table. “Oh. Sorry. I’m sorry.”
Her teeth press into the inside of your cheek. Maverick hadn’t ever described Bradley as this nervous.
“It’s fine.” She hums, pushing back in her chair and standing up from the table. “Well, I’ve been up since like… four, so I might just hit the hay.”
“Sure.” Bradley breathes out, hands braced on his thighs, eyes focussed on that tiny chip in the corner of the table. “Yeah. Goodnight.”
The downstairs bedroom seemed bigger when he was a kid. The twin-sized bunks on the carrier feel bigger than the wooden-framed bed that Maverick put in here. Bradley’s shoulder is practically hanging off the side, and the old frame creaks with each movement he makes.
It’s not like he would be sleeping much anyway. When he closes his eyes, the only thing he can see is the fireball Maverick’s plane had turned into as it fell.
Bradley’s hunched over the coffee pot by the time that Avery wakes up. He hears her coming down the stairs and straightens up like he wasn’t three seconds from throwing the stupid thing at the wall, clearing his throat and turning around.
It occurs to him that he should have put a shirt on. This isn’t his place. It’s hers, now, he guesses — either way, he hadn’t considered making her uncomfortable. He folds his arms over his naked torso as she strolls into the kitchen, hair mussed and rubbing at her eyes.
She’s wearing big socks and the same big t-shirt she had worn to eat the pizza last night. He can’t tell if she’s wearing shorts or not.
“Morning,” He offers up, making her lift her gaze from busily tapping at her phone. Her gaze lands squarely on his navel — more so, how low his shorts sit on his hips and the way a soft trail of brown hair ventures from there to his bellybutton.
Blinking, she finds his face.
“Coffee machine’s broken, we can stop somewhere on the way to base if you like.” He leans down a little bit, like an awkward teenager shrinking away from a family picture. She locks her gaze on his, trying not to glance back down at his muscles.
“Oh. That’s not broken — if you hit it hard enough, it’ll work.” She heads right for him, fuzzy socks padding across the floor so softly that it really does startle him when she grabs the copy of War and Peace that now sits on the kitchen counter, and slam the book right into the side of the coffee machine.
He whips around as the machine whirs to life. Avery the book back down gently, and look up at him. He sets his jaw, brows knitted together, searching her face.
Maverick never taught Bradley anything like that. In fact — Bradley always, always was taught the opposite. You never take the easy way out; if something’s worth fixing, then you fix it right.
Then you, you on the other hand, beat the thing with the heaviest book you can find? He just doesn’t get it.
“Well. Thanks.” He guesses, turning his bemused expression back to the brewing coffee.
He hadn’t been expecting you to do that. Doesn’t take a genius to figure that out, given the way he’s still glaring at the machine. That coffee pot is older than you are, and Mav never taught him that trick?
“So this guy, the one who called me,” Avery skims her fingers along the cool granite countertop, just to have something to do, “He was the guy calling the shots up there?”
Bradley blinks. He doesn’t know how much she knows about the way all of this works. He knew everything there is to know long before he ever enlisted, but that was because he wanted to know.
“Um,” Bradley grabs his mug and takes a step back for her to get herself one. “He was our mission command so, kind of. He gives orders — but, y’know, everything happens fast, it’s… it’s hard to call the shots from back on the boat.”
“Did he like Mav much?” She asks, head tucked inside the fridge door as you scan for anything to make her coffee a little less black. Nothing. A couple of beers and a block of good German cheese. She swings it shut with a resigned sigh, wondering if she’ll be here long enough to need groceries.
The thought flashes across her mind — what’ll happen to this place when she leaves it behind?
“Uh... No, not really.” After a routine training presentation at the very beginning of their attachment, Admiral Simpson had once become so agitated by Maverick that he snapped his own reading glasses in half. Mav got a good laugh out of it, at least.
“Great.” Agitation creeps into her tone as she curls her fingers around a plain white coffee mug. All of his kitchenware is plain white.
“What?” Bradley tilts his head, trying to catch a glimpse at the look on her face, stuck between whether she’s sad or pissed off.
It’s an easy answer, rolling off of her tongue with a shrug of her shoulders and a deflated sigh. “People usually put us in the same boat — if they don’t like him, they don’t like me.”
That’s something that he thinks he can understand. There’s not an instant dislike, but there’s a pity that he finds in the eyes of people who once knew his father.
He screws his mouth up, shaking his head and reaching for her without thought. His palm claps against her shoulder, platonic and soothing, but the first time he has touched you nonetheless. “I’ll be there. He won’t say a thing.”
Glancing upward, while his palm lingers on her shoulder, her eyes flit across his features. He doesn’t know quite what she’s searching for, or whether she finds it. His fingers squeeze softly against her skin before the touch is gone all together.
They drink their coffees in parallel, both subtly miserable in their silence but comfortable in it anyway. It’s difficult to prepare for a meeting like this — she doesn’t have a clue of what to expect.
Bradley wears black jeans and boots with a plain white t-shirt, which convinces her not to wear the more formal dress she had thought she’d have to wear. She slips into his passenger seat in a skirt and Mary Janes.
He drives a loud, blue vintage Bronco. It sparkles inside and out, and makes her dusty old car look even worse.
Bradley settles behind the wheel to the sound of chilled seventies music, the radio turned low. He drives with three fingers curled around the bottom of the wheel and the other hand resting absently on the stick shift.
Even though he seems calm enough behind the wheel, she watches him chew at the inside of his cheek for the duration of the drive. Gears tick away inside his head. His knee only stops bouncing nervously when it’s time to press his foot against the pedal.
He’s not as good at pretending as he thinks he is; she silently appreciates that he tries, either way.
Bradley, truthfully, spends the entire drive thinking about the last time he was face to face with Admiral Simpson. ‘Son, I’m doing this for you.’ He had sworn, face sullen, uttering the exact same words Pete Mitchell once had when delivering the words that had torn Bradley from him the first time.
Only, Admiral Simpson wasn’t pulling Bradley’s papers — he was just putting him on a month long bereavement leave. His protests had fallen on deaf ears once again, as they had fifteen years ago. He’s now a week into that leave, but it feels like longer.
It turns out that when sleep is cut from the equation, everything feels a lot longer. In his own apartment, his routine has been getting up at 2am after hours of tossing and turning, going for a run all the way down to the docks, coming back and showering, then waiting for the sun to rise.
Last night, he’d been awake in that creaky old twin bed, struck by the realisation that if he spent all night tossing and turning — one, he might actually break the old bed frame, and two, the squeaking of it would definitely keep Avery up.
All it had taken was the focus of trying to sit still for so long to finally knock him out. It was the best that he’d slept since the mission.
He kind of hopes that it’ll take him a while to figure out something to do with her car; at least that way he’ll be able to sleep at night.
“You ready?” His voice startles Avery from her daydream, the engine cutting out with a jingle of the keys as he stretches forwards in his seat to shove them into his pocket. “We’re headed just over there.”
“Yeah, let’s get this over with.” She’s stepping down and swinging the heavy door shut before she’s taking her next breath, leaving him to catch up to her.
His long strides have him at her side before long, reaching ahead of her to pull open the glass door to the post headquarters.
This process has already been easier with him at her side. He’d coolly handed over his service ID and greeted the guard at the gate by name, and he stops her from turning sharply down the wrong hallway with a soft bump of his shoulder against hers.
He catches her forearm as she tries to blow right past the front desk, his grip loose but firm.
“Rooster.” The woman behind the desk stands up sharply, looking sharp in her service khakis, her entire face creased with a deep worry. She’s older, maybe around Mav’s age. “I heard, I’m so sorry.”
Rooster loosens his hold on her forearm, his lips flattening into a line. He stands up straight, his interaction with the woman nothing if not totally polite. His thumb trails across the bend of her wrist as he nods his head towards her.
“Thank you,” He says softly, seemingly unaware of the way Avery has stiffened in the presence of this woman. “We’re, uh… we’re just here to see Cyclone, Lynn.”
Her warm, brown eyes whip towards Avery, widening. Recognition floods her features as she pieces together who the girl at Bradley's side must be.
Her boots hit the ground, Avery's lips parting slightly as she realises that this stranger is headed right for her. Bradley feels Avery's arm tug in his grip and turns his head, taking note of the way she's trying to shrink behind him.
Lynn is a hugger by nature, and she was a good friend of Mav’s for a long time. She means well, but Bradley isn’t going to let her touch Avery when he can see how unnerved it makes her.
“We’re a little late. I’ll catch you at the O-Bar this weekend?” His fingers uncurl from her forearm and his palm falls flat between her shoulder blades, giving her a gentle nudge and silent permission to avoid Lynn's hug.
The woman stops and there’s another polite, departing exchange between the two of them while Avery continues down the hall.
Bradley catches up to her as she raps her knuckles against the doorframe, fingers trembling when they come to settle back against her thighs.
“Miss Mitchell.” A chair scrapes along the tiled floor, Cyclone’s signature rumbling voice carrying out into the hallway. His boots tap across the ground, his face creased with sincerity and his hand outstretched when he notices Bradley standing behind the young woman he had arranged this meeting with. “Bradley Bradshaw.”
Avery checks back over her shoulder, glancing briefly at the man behind her, who has assumed his best bodyguard impression.
Standing tall, his uniform crisp and his greying black hair combed neatly, Admiral Beau Simpson slips his palm into hers and shakes her hand curtly. The sunlight catches on his shining name badge, his face heavy with lines and sharp angles.
Letting her hand go, he then reaches to her right to shake Bradley’s. Bradley’s chest bumps her back as he leans into the handshake.
Avery steps away from him, angling yourself closer to the doorframe. “He just gave me a ride here. Is it okay if he comes in?”
“Of course,” Cyclone is far more polite to her than he has ever been to Bradley. “Anything you need. Please, take a seat.”
It feels a little bit wrong standing before his boss in jeans, and sitting before him. Everything about this feels a little bit wrong. Bradley rests his chin against his fist.
Avery sits in the chair beside him, shoving your trembling hands under your thighs, straightening up and trying to look as brave as you can.
It shouldn’t be this stranger sitting beside you in this meeting — your mother should have come with you.
“Miss Mitchell,” The admiral takes his seat on the other side of his desk once again. “I want to first express my deepest condolences. Your father was a good man, and a… extremely skilled pilot.”
Bradley almost scoffs. Even now, Cyclone can’t manage to compliment him, not really.
“We are forever grateful for his service, and the sacrifices he made on behalf of our country. I understand that this is an extremely difficult time, and I’d just like to say that I’m going to personally make sure that this process is as easy as it can possibly be.”
Avery blinks at him. Jet engines rumble on outside of the window. People bustle on outside of the closed office door.
Cyclone glances towards Bradley.
“When a man is lost in action, our resolve is to initiate a search and rescue effort as soon as possible,” The admiral explains, leaving out the part where that search and rescue effort had been delayed by seventy-two hours after Mav disappeared. “We’ve been working tirelessly, and our efforts to locate your father are ongoing.”
Her brows knit together, lips pursed, unimpressed.
“But— he’s dead.” She frowns abruptly, rendering Cyclone suddenly quiet. “He’s got to be. It’s been a week. No food, no water, sub-zero temperature. What’s the point in looking?”
Bradley grits his teeth. He looks across at her, her words like a jolt of ice-cold water, the muscle in his jaw ticking. There’s nothing in her expression, no fear or sadness. Pete deserved more than that.
“The point is to bring him home.” He bites from her side, staring straight ahead at Cyclone.
She shoots him a look. When it’s clear that she isn’t going to say anything else, Cyclone clears his throat to continue.
“Miss Mitchell, we do have to prepare ourselves for the other outcome. If recovery efforts are unsuccessful, in two weeks time, he will be listed as formally ‘Missing in Action’. If that’s the case, we will honor him with a memorial service and all of his service records and personal effects are delivered to you.”
She drags her teeth across her plush bottom lip, swallowing hard and giving a small nod of her head. Closing her eyes for a moment, she pictures the moment that this is all over. She can get out of here and pretend it never happened.
“Okay. Two weeks?”
“This is going to be a longer process,” Cyclone warns her. He’d heard that she had come down specially for this, and he doesn’t want to mislead her about the time frame. “The recovery mission, if unsuccessful, will be suspended in two weeks’ time. After that, we’d like you to be local for the investigation.”
“Investigation?”
“Of ourselves. To ensure that the Navy had performed its due diligence, that kind of thing… I’d expect us to be here for a good few months.” He explains.
After that, it’s like Bradley can see a switch flip for her.
She’s biting at the inside of her cheek so hard that she must be tasting copper, picking at the seam of her skirt and breathing like she’s trying not to cry.
He’s still confused when he’s all but chasing her across the parking lot, listening to her try to control her breathing.
“Hey, hey, hey,” He tries, approaching her cautiously as she crowds herself against the passenger side of his car. “It’s alright. We’ll get through it, it’s just a couple of months.”
“I— fuck. I don’t want to be here. I-I— I’m going to have to find a job, and I’ll have to call my mom, and— and my friends, and—“
“Hey,” Bradley mumbles, resisting the instinct to throw his arms around her. His brows draw together as he reaches out and squeezes her bicep, bending his knees so he can catch her eye. “It’s alright. I’ll take care of it.”
Avery knows that he’s just trying to be nice, but really, she’s sick of nice. It’s all that Maverick ever was and it left her with no idea of who he really is. “Of what? There’s so much that I have to—“
He nods, closing his mouth, swallowing dryly. Thinking of what he can, feasibly, take off of her plate for her. The idea sparks in him.
“You need a job. I can get you a job. Um, your friends, we can call them and bring them down for a weekend?” He squeezes again at her bicep, nodding his way through his plans, trying to will the tears in her eyes not to spill over.
She sniffs, turning her gaze towards the ground. The lump in Avery’s throat burns and bobs as she tries to swallow it away.
Mav really is never coming back.
“I don’t want to go back to his house.” It comes out as a whimper, and really just reminds Bradley that she is in the same position that he was when he was just a little younger than her. It’s a scared kid type of feeling, being all alone in the world. Being in an empty house had made it even worse.
He licks his lips and glances towards the skies, watching the sun pass behind a cloud.
“You could stay at my place, for a night or two.”

Wish list for CBS ghosts season 4
Make Patience a recurring antagonist for at least 2-3 episodes before that story gets resolved and she gets regulated to a background character.
Patience character to be 50% good religious farm girl, 50% crazy witch. She also needs to have a wicked(ly cool) ghost power
More of Isaac loving dinosaurs
More solo development for Isaac
More of Isaac and Hetty's awesome friendship
No Nigel for a while. I do not like him. He did a lot of things in his and Isaac's relationship that are textbook abusive partner behavior.
I think it is about time for Jay's restaurant to start up, and I would like that to actually become pretty successful/profitable. Mostly because I would like Sam and Jay to have a bit more disposable income to do things around the manor, and I know the B&B is unlikely to become super busy next season (unless the show is ending , which I really do not want).
The difference in treatment between the above ground ghosts and basement ghosts to be addressed. I know after season 3 that they aren't going to move them all up stairs. But it would be nice if Sam and Jay could like furbish the basement , and then more Basement ghosts than just Nancy got invited to come upstairs for games or discussion.
Just to be clear I still want Nancy to keep making her frequent visits up stairs and hang out with the man 8. I just also would not mind seeing Stuart or another nameless basement ghost standing or walking by in the background on the occasion.
Explore Pete's power more. He does not need to hop on a plane and go across the country or anything, but let him keep going out into town and having adventures. Also let him keep going on dates with other random ghosts outside of the house.
I know that Pete&Alberta will probably happen at some point in season 4. The thing is though while that ship was cute in season 1, the way the ship was handled in season 2 soured it like milk to me. Both characters need a lot of development, and separate explorations of what they want out of a relationship, before I can ship them again.
H-Money is still a couple I kinda like. I do not expect them to get back together in season 4 (Please not another season that is fully devoted to coupling up all the character), but I would like them to start scheming together again. Let them figure out how to interact together as friends, and build a stronger foundation to eventually, in season 5 maybe, try again.
I have heard people suggest that Pete's power could maybe be extend to getting the other ghosts through the barrier if they are like holding onto Pete's hand. I want this. Now I know Sass will want to visit a Pizza Hut, and Issac a dinosaur museum, but I would say the most important thing to do with that would be to take Thor and Flower over to the Farnsby manor to visit Bjorn and his girlfriend Judy. It would also be cool if there was a lesbian ghost living there they could set up Nancy with. Since Nisaac is on a "respite" and queer representation (preferably healthy queer representation) is important.
Everyone remember in season 2 when we learned about Flower's super protective, formally MIA, army vet brother : Rob. You remember how the show's staff said they would love to have Rob come to the B&B for a visit, and were already considering actors who could play him? I want this episode. Also if you cannot directly tell Rob his sister is a ghost on the property, then can Trevor or Alberta use their powers to help Flower send a message to Rob. To say that she still loves him. I cannot deal that both siblings spent like 50 years thinking the other hated them when neither did. It is to sad.
It would be cool if we could also have Ira visit once too. I know Flower did not love him like she did Michael or does Thor, but he was still someone who was a big part of her life for a while, and knowing her cannonly had a large impact on his. Maybe we find that while he has done charities in her memory, trauma over watching her be killed by a bear has also lead him to sponsor bear hunts or poaching. Flower is horrified. Then Sam and Jay have to spend his visit looking for a way to convince him that is not what Flower would have wanted.
Four standard episodes for each season are a Halloween episode, an episode where Bela visits, one where Stephanie wakes up, and one where Crash appears and is slightly relevant. I have no idea what to do for an episode with Crash, but for the others
-Ghost animals on Halloween
-Home theater night for ghosts and guests on the night Stephanie wakes up, complete with all the drama of set up and shenanigans that going to the movies encores.
- Bela is broken up with Eric, she does not even like him. This time her and Jay's parents come with her for the visit. Bela wants all the latest gossip surrounding the ghosts, but they have to tip toe around the parents. Jay's dad does not fully support the B&B even without the knowledge that it is haunted, and Sam does not want to give her mother in law another reason to suspect that she might be crazy.
Owning back to the "Can Pete take the other ghosts off the property" theory, can Thomas Woodstone be a ghost who died visiting a neighbors property. We have no reason to see Elias again since he has decided to stay put in Hell. But Thomas reappearing could be interesting for both Hetty and Alberta. If he does show up though I want the twist to be that he is actually severally cognitively impaired (think Lenny from oMaM)... I mean the man was from an inbred family, played with lead based toys as a baby, had a cocaine addict mom, and a father who was a lot of things. He could not have been all there. Also address more on if Earl ever actually cared for any of the people he was two timing (again development that needs to happen to make Alberta want to go from dating an Earl to a Pete).
A Sasappis based episode that is not his death story. I feel like he needs at least one more episode exploring what his life alive was like, to be appropriately gutted when we learn about his secret death.
Actually maybe we can hold off on Sass's death and Hetty's ghost power until season 5. let's keep the element of mystery in the show for a little longer.

Kingdom has frankly made me feel crazy. I've seen the movie three times. Noa gives both "important" items to Mae. He doesn't choose between Soona and Mae when literally asked. He gives a bullshit "we were born together" answer (what does that mean, bro?) which literally sounds like he thinks of her as a sister. (Which checks out, bc that's the vibe they actually had lbr) He carries her. Rescues her on horseback. Bonds w/her through the whole damn movie. And all their tension? Not to mention Owen and Freya being the literal faces of the movie and all the promo. I just need to know if they have written the single most unintentional enemies to lovers story or if its all intentional and we aren't crazy.
Let me let you in on a little secret that might shed some light on what is going on, here.
Shhh... don't tell anyone. I don't think they could handle it!
The Planet of the Apes Franchise has had many, many examples of human-ape hookups and pairings before in the comics, and hints of this can be found on the big screen (Taylor and Zira kissing, the almost-was ape-human hybrid child).
Some examples of ape-human pairings in the franchise have been:
Malaguena (human woman) and the male chimp Grimaldi from "Terror on the Planet of the Apes"
Tonus, a human-hating gorilla, fell in love with a "chimp" named Valia who was really a human woman in disguise named Myndith. It more or less changed his stance on humans "Blood of the Apes" miniseries
Fauna, a blind chimp female fell in love with Pete Burke, a human man in an episode of the Planet of the Apes TV series
Various examples of human-ape hybrids, such as the mud people
Some examples of ape-on-ape mixes also occurred:
Minister Shiva was half chimp, half gorilla (Dark Horse comics)
The Chimerae were descended from gorillas, orangutan and chimp blood (Dark Horse, again)
Lieutenant Mungwort was part chimpanzee, part gorilla
You can find all of this detailed here for reference:
So, yeah, if they were hinting something between Noa and Mae, you can bet it would be on-point for the franchise to do that.
Intentionally.
Because, you know, the Planet of the Apes has this long history of mixing species, both on-screen and off.
I know some claim it's bestiality, or zoophilia, or whatever to ship Noa x Mae, and that's fine. Sing it to the rafters, you do you.
I still stand by the fact that if someone claims this and pays to watch the Planet of the Apes movies in the movie theater they are financially supporting their own claims of bestiality and zoophilia for a franchise that has always promoted ape-human pairings.
For the rest of us, it's just par for the course and a typical ship.
Hope that helps!

tasm!peter parker x f!reader
Summary: being best friends and maybe in love with Peter Parker is nice, until certain spider changes everything
Word couny: 10k
Warnings: mentions of wounds, kissing, hickeys, and I think that's all
A/N: it's based on Honest by The Neighbourhood, It's nice to have a friend, King of my heart and Sweet nothing by Taylor Swift.
Also, thanks to @myriadmoons for helping me write this <33
Patience, test my patience
If I made it too hard for you, maybe
“What happened?” You ask Peter, approaching him in the hallway. Immediately noticing the bruise on his face, even though he tried to hide it with the hoodie.
“I fell” He tells you, walking to your first class, which, to his displeasure, you had together.
“Do you think I’m stupid?” You ask him as he works as your shield among all the students going to their classes.
“Sometimes” He laughs, trying to change the subject as you both sit in your place.
“Pete, I’m serious. Is it Flash again? I wouldn’t care to threaten him again”
“That only worked because he has a crush on you” He smiles, resting his head on his arms while looking at you.
“Yeah, but it worked, so I take it as a win” He laughs softly, trying to ignore the concerned look you were giving him. “What happened?”
“I fell” He knows by the look in your eyes that you don’t believe him, but he ignores it, just like he ignores your sad expression as you turn your head to the teacher.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
“Are you okay?” You ask him, opening your bedroom door so he can get inside. You notice the new bruises, of course you do, you always notice.
But you also notice the look in his eyes, telling you to not say anything about it, telling you to just hold him now.
So you do, you hug him. You let him hug you so tight that you’re afraid he might break you.
“I’m better now” He mutters, his voice muffled by your hair.
“I’m glad”
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
You should have changed it
Say it, you should say it
“You don’t even have to tell me” You had told Peter, sitting on the stairs of your porch. “I mean, it’s obvious that I’m not buying the ‘I fell’ bullshit. So just let me help you”
“It’s okay, someone’s- I’m already getting help” And it’s not you. He had told you, getting up and walking away after waving goodbye.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
“You’re ignoring me” You tell Peter, sitting on his bed with your homework on your lap.
“I’m literally doing homework right now” He says, slightly offended.
“Not right now, I mean lately” He hesitates before talking.
“I’ve been busy, I’m sorry” He finally looks up from his homework, looking at you.
“It’s okay, you know I don’t care about that, just, don’t be a stranger”
“I won’t” He assures you. “Talking about that, I didn’t tell you but I’m friends with Gwen” Then he puts his homework away, because, of course, when it’s about her he has to focus completely. “We started talking the other day and she’s really nice… "
So you just sit there, listening to him, because that’s the most he’s talked to you in days. And because you’re a good friend who’ll listen to anything even though it hurts. Because you don’t want to lose him.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
Waiting, always waiting
You wait. Even though you shouldn’t. You wait for him, for a text, for a call, for a response, anything. You wait for him to fulfil his promise, that he’d be here to do the work with you. The most important work of the year.
You wait for him to answer all your texts, all your calls. You keep waiting as you do the work, as you start it, as you look up information, as you finish it, as you revise it.
You stop waiting for him to start waiting for an excuse when he opens the door. With new cuts and bruises that had already been taken care of.
“Sorry for being late, I lost track of time” He puts his backpack in the usual place and sits on your bed, behind you. “We can start now”
You turn around in the chair, not waiting anymore since you already got your excuse. You watch the hour on your phone before talking.
“At 11pm?” You ask him, looking at his new bruises, sighing and wishing he told you more about it.
“I know, I’m sorry, it’s just…” He doesn’t continue, because he doesn’t have anything to say.
“I already did it” You inform him, getting up and laying on your bed as you turn on the TV.
“What? But, we were supposed to do it together” He says, offended as he gets up, to discover that, in fact, you already did it.
“It’s due tomorrow” You don’t look at him, instead, you look at the news, talking about the decrease of crime.
“You could’ve waited for me” You look at him now, foolishly hurt by his words. Because that’s all you’ve done lately. Wait for him. “I know I didn’t answer.” ‘I’m sorry’ He doesn’t add. “But it’s like half of the grade” ‘It’s not fair that you had to do it alone’ He forgets to add, again.
“Fuck you Peter” You tell him, eyes again on the TV, refusing to look at him and at his audacity.
“Look, I know that you’re mad, but I was with Gwen, and I lost track of time, and…” He stops talking, either because he realises he mentioned Gwen or because he realises that you don’t care.
“See you tomorrow” You don’t look at him when he mutters a soft ‘good night’. You do look at him when he turns around, picks his backpack and leaves, closing the door behind him.
You don’t go to sleep immediately, even though you should. You add yours and Peter’s names to the work before putting it on your backpack. Then you continue watching the news. Weirdly entertained by the people talking about Spiderman as he swings between buildings.
You watch his back, just as you watched Peter’s. A back that you know too much, a back that you've scratched, a back that you watched leave earlier. And then it all makes sense, well, you still don’t know why he’s ignoring you. But you know the reason behind the bruises, the cuts, the tiredness in his eyes.

I wish you could be honest
I wish you could be honest with me
You watch as the teacher corrects the works. Peter watches you. You both watch the teacher walking to your desks. The teacher watches both of you as he talks.
“It’s really good, I still have to correct some things but it’s the better one of the class” He says before walking away, with your work still in his hands.
“You added my name?” Peter asks you, looking at you as you watch the clock, waiting for the class to be over.
“Yes” You answer, now looking at him.
“I didn’t deserve it” He says ‘I didn’t do anything and then made you feel bad about it’ He doesn’t say.
“I know” You keep looking at him, ignoring the shred of hurt in his eyes, and focusing on the exhaustion in them. “Peter, are you honest with me?”
He doesn’t expect the question, but he doesn’t doubt when answering “Of course”
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
Why'd you stick around?
Why'd you stay with me?
Why'd you fake it?
You always did this. It was your tradition. But things have changed lately, so you shouldn't be surprised when he doesn't show up.
You look at the news, waiting to see someone informing you about what Spiderman's doing right now, maybe saving the city again. But nothing. He seems to be sleeping, or ignoring his best friend.
So you give up, put your phone in silence and walk in the cinema. Doing your monthly tradition alone, for the first time.
When you walk out you don't expect to see him there. Looking weirdly anxious. But you don't acknowledge him, you just continue walking.
"I'm sorry" He says as he follows you, standing in front of you when he realises you're not going to stop. You don’t say anything, you just look at him, not even bothering to hide the fact that you’re hurt. Hurt by him, by his actions, by his secrets. “I’m really sorry, I was really occupied and I couldn’t make it and…”
“I can’t keep doing this” You try to walk around him to the door so you can walk to your house. But he stands in front of you again.
“I know, and I’m sorry, it won’t happen again, I promise” And you want to believe him, you really want to, but you can't let yourself get hurt again.
“You could’ve told me” Just like you can tell me that you’re Spiderman. But you don’t say that, because you want him to trust you, although you don’t know why he doesn’t.
“I- my phone-” He stops, because lying isn’t going to get him anywhere. “I forgot”
You smile, even though all you want to do is cry. He forgot his best friend. And why? Before you can ask him, the answer appears behind you.
“Where were you? Oh, hi Y/n” You turn around, to see Gwen smiling at you. You return her the smile and a wave before turning back to Peter.
“Fuck off Peter, and make sure you don’t forget to talk to her” You mutter as you finally walk around him, reaching the door and start the journey to your house.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
As you walk on the pavement, you notice someone approaching you. You wave at him when you notice who he is. Harry, Peter’s friend. He introduced you two a while ago, and to his surprise, you actually got along.
“Hi” He greets you.
“Hi, I didn’t know you were in town?” You ask him.
“Yeah, I arrived a few days ago. Actually, I was going to Peter’s house, do you want to come?” He asks you, oblivious to the whole situation.
“I was just going to my house, but it was nice to see you again” You tell him, resuming the walk to your house when he starts talking next to you. “You don’t have to.” He cuts you off before you can finish.
“Did something happen? The last time I was here Peter told me that he wouldn’t let you walk home alone, because it’s dangerous, you know?” You sigh, because it’s true, he never did that, until today.
“It’s complicated I guess, but you don’t really have to walk me home, it’s just a ten minutes walk from here”
“It’s okay, I’d like to catch up with you” You give up trying to get him to actually go where he was supposed to and start talking about both of your lifes. “Does Flash still have a crush on you? I don’t think Peter got over the fact that he asked you out”
You laugh, remembering that day. When you’d suggested that maybe he was just jealous, he said that it was because he wanted his best friend to date someone better than Flash.
“He still does, but he hasn’t tried to ask me out again” You stand in front of your porch, turning around to face him. . “Thanks for walking me home, Harry” You smile at him, really thankful that you hadn’t spent the whole walk thinking about Peter.
“It’s okay, I always like talking to you. And about the Peter thing, I’m sure you’ll work it out”
You let out a soft ‘I know’ before saying goodbye to him and walking in your house.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
Harry doesn’t bring up the matter when he shows up at Peter’s door. Neither when they both start playing video games. Or when Peter starts talking about Gwen. He talks about it when he says that he went to the mall with Gwen.
“That’s why Y/n was going home alone?” He notices how Peter tenses up immediately.
“What?” Peter asks, like he has no idea what he’s talking about.
“I saw her, and I walked her home, she seemed upset” Peter doesn’t say anything, feeling too bad, knowing that he’s the reason why. “I even asked her if Flash still had a crush on her, maybe the next time I shouldn’t be that discreet”
“What?” Peter turns around, the video game long forgotten as the boys talk.
“Maybe I should ask her on a date while I’m here, the worst she can say is no” Harry keeps talking, and maybe he’s being for real, maybe he just wants Peter to react. But all Peter knows is that he’s getting mad, and he doesn’t know why.
“You shouldn’t” He says dryly.
“Why? Is she seeing someone?” Harry asks, getting up to pick up his things.
“No” Peter answers, his jaw tightened as he watches his friend move around the room.
“Then? What’s the problem?” Harry stops for a second, looking at him.
“I don’t want you to date her” Then he moves again, giving Peter his back as he closes his backpack, hiding his smile.
“I thought you were with Gwen?” Peter frowns at that.
“What? No, it’s all platonic” He swears.
“She must be a good friend then. You left Y/n to go with her” Harry can see Peter's face go through all emotions before talking back.
“It’s not like that” He frowns, again, like it's the most obvious thing.
“I don’t know the whole story Peter, but I do know that she was walking home alone –something that you swore you’d never do– and she seemed hurt” After that Harry leaves. Leaving a confused Peter considering all the choices he's made, while looking at the pictures you two have together.
Pictures he took of you when you gave him his new camera for his birthday. Pictures Aunt May insisted on taking one of the first times you went to the cinema together. Pictures you took of him when he was distracted. Pictures he took of you while you were sleeping, because he thought you looked cute, even though you got embarrassed after. Pictures he took of you while falling(and on the floor), after you had assured him that you knew how to skate.
He remembers that after the last one, you almost made him fall again, he also remembers that your actual words were 'Pete what the fuck??, why didn't you help me?' Like he could’ve done anything to help you
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
I hope you find a way
To be yourself someday
You were doing all you could to avoid Peter. You didn’t know if he was trying to talk to you. But you didn’t care. Maybe he wasn’t trying to find you. It's not like it's something new. But you couldn't known
You couldn't avoid each other in the next class, since you guys sat together(for the next two hours).
“Do you like Harry?” He asks you, neither of you had anything to do, while the others finished their homework, you do all you can to not look at him.
“What?” You fail, meeting his gaze as you talk.
“I think he likes you” He adds.
“Okay” You say, dryly.
“Do you like him?” You can’t believe him, it’s the same shit he did with Flash.
“Just leave me alone” You try to ignore his intense gaze.
“I don’t think you should date him” You stop ignoring his eyes now, looking at him and trying to find where his audacity comes from.
“That’s not your problem” You remind him.
He looks at you, because it’s really not. Even if you were still best friends, it wouldn’t be. But then you’d say something like ‘are you jealous?’.
“I know, I know, but he’s-” You cut him off, tired of his shit.
“I don’t care, Peter, why would I?. If I like him or if I don’t, it’s not your problem, so just leave me alone”
He seems hurt, he really does. But you stop looking at him, because maybe if you don’t see him, you won’t notice. And maybe if he doesn’t look at you, he won’t notice your hurt. Or maybe he does and he just doesn't care.
You stay like that the rest of the hour, fighting the urge to not turn your head to him, even when you can notice him looking at you. You fight the urge to not ask him for explanations, to ask him to come back to you.
As soon as the teacher says that you have a free hour, you walk out of the class as soon as you can.
You walk to the bleachers, waiting for the hour to be over so you can just go home. You’re looking at the sky when Peter approaches you, your immediate response is to get up, to try and run away.
“Please- just…” He stays there, standing in a row in front of you. You sit down again, looking at him.
He doesn’t say anything. He just looks at you, feeling like he hasn't seen you in forever. He doesn’t talk, you don’t talk. Until you get impatient and try to get up before he talks.
"You don't call me Pete anymore, you know?. You just say Peter, and half of the time is to insult me" You don't know how to react, you don't know what to do with the hurt in his voice. So you just talk, before thinking.
“Are you Spiderman?” You see him trying to say something, trying to lie. But you both know it wouldn’t work. So he doesn’t say anything. He looks at you, frowning.
You laugh.
“You didn’t even try to deny it” You look at him, questioning him, questioning his friendship with you, his friendship with Gwen.
“How long have you known?” He frowns, looking sad.
“Long enough for me to say that you’re not honest” You fight the urge to walk away.
He doesn’t say anything. You know that he’s mad.
You don’t say anything. He knows that you’re mad.
“You shouldn’t know” He finally speaks, looking at you, clenching his jaw.
“I know” Because you do. You know that he’s been trying so hard to hide it from you that you almost lose your friendship, or maybe you already lost it.
“It’s dangerous” He adds
“That’s all you’re gonna say?” You ask him. You both know what you want to hear. I’m sorry for not telling you. I’m sorry for ignoring you. I’m sorry for getting you worried. I’m sorry for almost ruining our friendship.
“What else am I supposed to say?” He doesn’t meet your eyes. Not when you get up. Not when you throw the sweatshirt he’d lent you at him. Not when he barely catches it before it touches the floor. Not when you start to walk away.
“Way to go Parker” You mumble, walking down the stairs.

Hesitation, is killing me too
But I couldn't save it
I couldn't save it
"I didn't want her to get involved, it's dangerous, and I-" Peter is sitting in Gween’s bed, his Spiderman suit under his clothes, ready for the night guard. A week after his last conversation with you.
"So you're just going to lose your friendship because of that?” Gween asks, her eyes going back and forth between Peter and her homework.
“I don’t want to lose her. I thought that if I wasn’t around her that much she wouldn't discover it” He admits, his eyes looking down at the mask in his hands.
“Do you think she’s stupid?” Gwen asks, knowing for a fact, that you aren’t stupid.
“That’s the thing. She’s too smart, and she found out even when I ignored her” He sighs, laying in the bed. “I don’t know what to do now. I can’t just go to her and apologise, can I?”
“You could try, but it better be the apologise of the century” She tells him, focused again on the papers before her.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
Peter keeps thinking about that as he climbs out Gwen's window. While he's swinging between buildings. As he fights for his life.
But, curiously, he doesn't think about it when he goes to your house, when he knocks on the window. He just does it, like you're a magnet who's attracting him, leaving him no choice but to get close to you. He does it as a reflex action. Like he knows that you'll always be there for him.
And sadly, you will.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
Is this the end of all the endings?
Peter used to go to your house when he couldn’t sleep, he just knocked on the window, waiting for you to get up and let him in. But you didn’t expect him to do it right now. Especially no in his Spiderman suit.
“What the fuck happened to you?” You ask him, not even bothering to close the window. Knowing that he’d close it for you. Like always.
He sits on your desk chair as you look for your first aid kit, the one that you’d bought when Peter started to skate.
"I'm hurt" He talks, slowly moving the chair close to the bed, where you're waiting with all the supplies.
"Yeah no shit" You roll your eyes, carefully cleaning his wounds.
"I'm sorry" He suddenly says, after watching you in silence, admiring you as you healed him.
You admire him too, his hands as he holds tight to the chair, his chest as he breathes in, as he breathes out. His face as you clean the blood out of it. The look in his eyes as you keep your hands on his face longer than necessary.
"What are you doing here?" Your eyes go from his wounded chest to his eyes.
"I missed you" You stop for a bit when he says that, and you're sure he notices, but you quickly bandage the wound and get up to get him some clothes.
"It's not fair, it's not fucking fair that after everything you're just here. Telling me that you missed me. It's not fair Peter" You swear you can see something change in his eyes as he hears the name. "And I'm here, acting like nothing happened, like it's the fucking same, like my best fri-" You don't finish the word. "Like you aren't Spiderman. It's not fucking fair"
You finally tell him, looking through your closet, like the fact that you're far from him will help you ignore the attraction you're feeling.
And then it hits you, you've felt like this for a while. You've been attracted to him for a while. And with everything that had happened, you couldn't stop and think about it.
Because maybe the fact that you lost your best friend hurts more than the fact that you're in love with him. Just maybe.
"I know" He says as he gets up, walking to the bathroom to put on the clothes that you just gave him. He leaves a confused you cleaning your room, feeling your heart shrink a bit when you see all of the tissues covered in blood.
After going to the kitchen to throw everything that you had used, you come back to Peter sitting in your bed. Looking at his hands, only looking away when you sit next to him.
“I’m sorry” He admits, almost in a whisper.
“Stop saying that you’re sorry” You ask him.
“But I really am” He whispers, again
“You should’ve thought of it before you… before everything” You look down, and then at him.
“I know, but it’s not my fault that I’m Spiderman and I’m really sorry” You look away, slightly hurt by the fact that he thinks you would blame him for that.
“What are you even sorry for?”
“I’m sorry for lying to you, for ignoring you, for making you feel bad, for ruining our friendship” He says the last words like they hurt. “I’m sorry for everything, honestly. For talking the way I did about the Harry thing. For not apologising sooner. For ignoring you because of Gwen, who’s just my friend, by the way. I’m sorry” You don’t look at him, because if you do, you know you’ll do something stupid, like hugging him, or telling him that everything’s fine.
“I think you should go, maybe May is waiting for you” You get up, feeling his gaze on you as you continue to pack your suitcase.
“Why are you saying that after I apologised?” You let out a small laugh, looking through your t-shirts.
“Do you think an apology solves everything?” You hear him sigh, passing a hand through his hair.
“I- What? No, I thought you’d be more understanding” You stop for a bit, breathing in and breathing out, trying to not get mad at him.
“What?” You turn around slowly.
“You always say that people deserve second chances” He says, afraid of what your reaction will be.
“And how many chances have I given you Peter, I could’ve fucking left you as soon as you started ignoring me. But no, you hug me and everything's okay, I’m your best friend again and we’re fine. Just for you to go and ignore me, again!. What the fuck do you want me to do? Have zero self respect and go back to you just because ‘you’re sorry’?. And don’t even talk about second chances, because you’d had so many fucking chances, and all you do is fuck it up!.” You throw a t-shirt into the suitcase. “If you want me to just forget everything just because you apologised, it better be the bigger apologise anyone has seen, because I’m so fucking tired of everything“ Now you throw a hoodie. “All I ever wanted was for you to be honest, but you couldn’t even do that, so I just, I don’t know what to do anymore.”
“Where are you going?” He says, like he just noticed that you're packing your things. Catching a t-shirt before it can land into the suitcase.
“Are you telling me that that’s the part you chose to care about?” You ask him, snatching the t-shirt from his hands and throwing it in the suitcase again. Just for him to catch it.
“Yeah, where are you going?” He raises his arm above his head when you try to steal the fabric from his hands.
"You're fucking unbelievable Peter, I'm going to my aunts" You finally catch your T-shirt and put it on the suitcase.
"What? You won't be happy there?" He replies.
“And who says I'm happy here?” You don't look at him as you pick up another T-shirt from your closet. When you turn around, Peter’s emptying your suitcase. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“Don’t be immature, just stay here, there’s no need to go there” He pushes your hands when you try to stop him.
“Oh, so I’m being the immature one? Sorry, Mr. I didn’t want my best friend to find out that I’m Spiderman so I just stopped talking to her” You put the clothes that he’s putting on the floor into the suitcase, just as he does the opposite in front of you.
“Oh, I have to get Harry to walk me home because I can’t do it alone” He replies, determined to unpack your suitcase.
“Oh, I can’t even text my best friend to tell her that I ditched her because I was with other girl”
“I already told you we’re just friends. Are you jealous?” He looks at you for a moment, making you take advantage of him and quickly fill up your suitcase.
“You wish I was jealous” You give up, and just watch as Peter empties your suitcase. “Stop being immature and go home”
“Maybe I do wish that you'd be jealous” He drawls, looking down at his work(your clothes on the floor).
“Just go home” You say again, getting up and walking to your closet. He quickly gets up again, and you think is to leave, but he’s next to you immediately.
“I didn’t want you to worry, or be in danger. So it was better to just stop talking to you, because I didn’t have to see your face when you saw the bruises. And I just couldn’t stand the fact that if you knew, you’d be in danger. And I know I fucked up, I’m sorry, I regret it everyday, I just want us to be okay” He admits, looking down at you.
“Are you fucking stupid?” You look at him, confused. “You didn’t want me to worry? So you just ignored me? You’re the dumbest person I’ve ever known. What if something happened to you? What if you fucking died? I’ll be here not knowing that it was because you’re fucking Spiderman –I mean, I would’ve figured it out, but still–. And the ‘being in danger’ shit, I have no fucking words, you think I care about that? You’re so fucking stupid Peter” You turn around and pick your clothes from the floor as you mutter ‘so fucking stupid’.
“You still care about me?” He asks, looking at you, impatiently waiting for your answer.
“You’re actually dumb…” You consider. “Of course I do” His eyes light up.
“Does that mean you forgive me?” He gets closer to you.
“No, I’m still waiting for the biggest apology anyone has ever seen” You start to pack your clothes again.
“You’re still going?” He frowns.
“Yes, I’m leaving tomorrow, so, goodbye Peter” You finish packing and you stay there, looking through the window, where Peter was just minutes ago.
And you know that he is really sorry, but you couldn't give it to him that easily. You'll forgive him as soon as you see the biggest apology you've ever seen.
Because you miss him, you miss your best friend, the guy you've been pining over for a year, the guy who used to walk you home everyday. You miss the insignificant fights you'd have about the homework, about the movie you'll see. You miss Peter Parker.

You think about last night as you watch through the window of the taxi, about how close your bodies were for a moment, about everything he said, about the jealous thing. About the fact that you’re still waiting for his apology.
That’s when you see it, the biggest apology you’ve ever seen. Just in front of you everyone, but just for you. After you tell the driver to stop the car you get out of it as soon as possible, looking at the “I’m sorry” made of webs.
Just when you start to look around, Peter grabs you, and you honestly don’t know how but you end up above the words. Looking at him, and hugging him, because, it’s so fucking scary.
“I’m sorry” He says, after taking out his mask. Looking at you with soft eyes.
“I can tell” You say, looking at his eyes, just so you don’t look down, and because you missed his eyes.
“Is that the biggest apology you’ve ever seen?” He asks, suddenly nervous.
“Yes it is” You talk as you look around you, observing the city. “You’re fucking Spiderman, that’s unbelievable, like, out of all the people, you, that’s so fucking crazy” When you look back at him, he looks like he isn’t breathing. “Yes, Pete, I forgive you, I thought about last night and it was kinda funny, you know? The whole suitcase situation. I missed that, I missed you”
Once the words leave your mouth he smiles like he just won a contest and hugs you. He hugs you like he hasn’t done in a while, and you hug him back, happy to have your best friend back.
“Yeah, I get it, but, um, could we get down? Love the views, but it’s scary” You say, smiling.
“Shit, yes sure” He seems to remember where you two are and puts the mask on before taking you to the taxi.

My broken bones are mending
With all these nights we're spending
"I'm sorry" Peter says as he sits on your bed.
"Don't apologise" You tell him, cleaning the wounds on his neck.
"I'll buy you another first aid kit" You smile, patching up his face.
"Well, I hope I won't need it" He chuckles a bit, knowing that you probably will have to.
"Thank you"
"I'm your best friend Peter, and I have morals, if Spider-man was on my window dying I'll help him"
"What if it's a fake Spider-man?" He grins through the pain.
"You think I won't recognise you?" You ask, indicating him to roll down the top of his suit so you can look at the wounds. "Does it hurt?" You look at the bruises on his side.
"I'm better now" He slowly gets up and grabs the clothes you let out for him.
"I'm glad" You smile, cleaning and throwing everything you've used.
When he comes out of the bathroom, already in normal clothes, you're in bed, scrolling down your phone.
"I should leave" He says as he picks up his backpack.
"Stay here Peter" You talk, patting the space you left him next to you.
"Are you sure? I don't want to bother" He says, even though he's smiling.
"Yes, I'm sure" You don't bother to look up your phone. "There's a lot of gossip we have to discuss"
You do look up your phone when he lays down next to you and covers both of you with the blanket.

Up on the roof with a school girl crush
Drinking beer out of plastic cups
Say you fancy me, not fancy stuff
You notice people staring at you as you enter the house. You follow Peter through the crowd, and wonder if the music and the smell of alcohol are bothering him.
"I'll get something to drink" Peter talks through the music, once you've found a not so packed corner in one of the rooms.
"If you insist" You smile back at him as he walks away.
You're looking at his back when someone approaches you.
"What are you doing here alone?" Some guy asks you, leaning on the wall behind you.
"Who said I was alone?" You reply, not smiling, rather grimacing from the smell of alcohol he gives off.
"Well, I don't see anyone around right now" He says, looking around, ignoring the fact that you're not even looking at him.
"Maybe it's because I don't wanna talk to anyone" You simply answer.
"You're kicking me out?" He still smiles, even though he wants to look offended.
"I don't know, am I?" You give him a fake smile, just before Peter appears with two cups, and after you grab one, he passes his arm around your waist, facing that guy.
"So you weren't alone" The guy mutters, looking at Peter's arm around you.
"If you wanted to keep her company, you can leave, I'm already here" Peter grinns, oblivious to the look the guy gives him before turning around to bother someone else.
"What was that?" Peter doesn't answer, instead he pulls away and grabs your hand, leading you upstairs, to one of the balconies of the house. "What was that?" You ask again, seeing that he's too focused on his cup.
"He was bothering you" He simply answers, smiling at you, as you both sit on the floor, leaning your back on the wall.
"How did you know that? Maybe I was having a good time" You question, smiling back at him.
"With that look on your face? I doubt it" He raises an eyebrow before raising the cup to his lips.
"Maybe that's my way of flirting. Showing no interest. They seem to like that" You shrug, smiling.
"So you were flirting?" His jaw tightens a bit, looking directly at you.
"What if I was?" You hold his gaze, waiting for any kind of reaction.
But the only thing he does is take out a bottle of alcohol from under his jacket. "What the fuck?" You smile, taking it from as he hands it to you.
"Though it'd be nice to have something just for us" He smiles as you pour it in your cups.
"But you didn't answer" You remind him.
"I mean, I'm your best friend, I have to approve them first" He jokes.
"That's the reason?" You half close your eyes.
"Yes" He looks away, drinking.
"You sure? No other reason?" You insist, stretching out your arm to poke his cheek.
"Yes" He moves away, fighting his smile.
"Are you really sure?" You scoot over to be closer to him, still poking his cheek.
"Yes, I'm sure, okay?" He finally lets the smile out and grabs your wrist as he pulls away.
"No, not okay, I don't believe you" You try to get your hand free, but he holds it tighter.
"Why don't you believe me?" He asks you.
"You don't seem believable" You smile, looking at him as you drink.
"Maybe it's you who doesn't want to believe me" He talks back.
"Maybe" You shrug.
"But for what reason?" He insists, leaning to see your face.
"I don't know" You sigh, drinking the rest of your cup. "But it's true that you don't seem believable"
"So you don't believe me and I don't believe you, we're even" He smiles, knowing there’s no point in trying to get you to talk.
"I guess" You smile back at him.
At some point, maybe when you're talking about the stars or when you finish the bottle. You find yourself on Peter's lap, his lips on yours and his hands on your hair.
You feel the grip he has on you, and how his lips go to your neck, you also feel him smirking against your skin.
And you also hear someone knocking on the door, making you pull away immediately.
You don't talk, not when you get up, or when he holds your hand to lead you through the people. You talk when he's walking you home.
"Can we not talk about that?" You ask, a hand on your neck to feel the hickey he gave you.
"Why?" He says, looking at the hand on your neck, and remembering how it felt to do that.
"We were drunk, Peter, it was a mistake" You remind him.
"Yeah, sure, we won't talk about it" He says, and maybe he means it, because even when he's drunk, he hasn't forgotten about the fact that he's spiderman.
He tries to not be obvious when he's saying goodbye to you, but you still notice him looking at it.
"Peter, stop looking" He smiles.
"I'm not looking" He says, looking directly at your neck.
"You're drunk" You remind him, giving him your back to open your door.
"Kinda" He replies, grinning.
"You should stay" When you turn around, he's still smiling. "Peter if you talk about it i'll kick you out" You remind him as you close the door, both of you already inside.
"Maybe it's worth it" He stops smiling when you leave him alone and walk to your room, mumbling something about a 'mistake', that's all he could hear.
But he keeps his promise and doesn't talk about it. He wants to, but he conforms with having you under his arm while you watch a movie.
He doesn't talk about the next days either, not even when you put makeup on your neck to hide it. And weeks pass, but neither of you have forgotten about it.

School bell rings, walk me home
Sidewalk chalk covered in snow
Lost my gloves, you give me one
You were walking home from Harry's, after saying goodbye to him, who leaves tomorrow. Peter's walking by your side. He's huffily talking about the fact that some classmate of yours never stops talking.
"You also talk in class" You remind him, rubbing your hands together to get some warmth in them, you accidentally left your gloves in Harry's house, you already texted him to consider it a parting gift.
"Yeah, to you, it's not the same" He says, taking the glove of his right hand off.
"Why not?" You ask when you see what he's doing. "What are you doing, you're gonna get cold" You say, walking away from him when he tries to give you his glove.
"At least let me give you one" He replies, and he's faster than you, so he quickly grabs your right wrist and puts the glove on.
"What about your other hand?" You ask, still refusing to make him cold, even though he's Spiderman, so it's not that of a problem.
"You'll grab it, and then it won't be cold, okay?" He doesn't give you a chance to protest as he grabs your ungloved hand and starts walking to his house. "And it's not the same because you're worth talking to"
"You're biassed" You tell him, smiling.
"Me? I'd never, how dare you say that" He puts the hand you're not holding in his chest, acting offended.
“Of course you’d never, you react the same when I talk and when Flash talks” You remind him, looking at the snow on the floor.
“That’s because you’re not a shitty person” He says, suddenly grumpy when he talks about him.
“You say that ‘cause you’re I’m your best friend” You look at him.
“Everyone can tell that you’re a good person” He says, genuinely,
“You’re still biassed” You remind him.
“Nonsense, even if I wasn’t your best friend I could still tell that you are a good person” He seems ready to defend his argument with his life.
“How could you tell that?” You ask, curious.
“Because of your aura” You look at him, sceptical “And because you’re pretty” You look away, so he doesn’t notice how flustered you are. But of course he notices, and of course he smiles. Because neither of you have forgotten the ‘maybe I wish you were jealous’ thing, or the fact that you made out at that party.
You don’t say anything, instead, you urge him to walk faster so you can get in his house already. When you walk in, you're greeted by Aunt May, who gives you a big hug.
"Oh sweetie, I missed you so much, you should've told me and I'd make sure that Peter isn't dumb, you're the best that has ever happened to him, I can't believe he almost lost you. Men are so stupid sometimes" She talks as she gives his nephews a bad look.
“Thanks Aunt May” He says, taking off his coat before helping you take off your own as soon as May breaks the hug. “My own family is against me, I can’t believe it”
“It’s okay” You assure her “I could handle him on my own. And they’re really dumb sometimes” You agree with her before following Peter to his room.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
Light pink sky up on the roof
Sun sinks down, no curfew
After finishing your homework, gossiping and playing video games, you’re both on Peter’s roof, a blanket around both of you as you watch the sunset.
“What about bug-boy, web-head, spidey?” Peter shakes his head with each nickname. “I don’t care, I like spidey”
“Really? I’d prefer bug-boy honestly” He admits, making you smile before looking at your phone, who just made a notification sound.
“What the fuck?” You mutter.
“What?” Peter asks, leaning over your shoulder to see what you’re talking about.
“Flash just asked me on a date?” You say, still looking at your phone.
“Why does he have your number?” He frowns.
“That’s what you care about, really?” You look at him, and you roll your eyes when you see, that, in fact, that’s what he cares about. “I used to tutor him”
“Oh” He seems to relax, but then he frowns again “Didn’t you reject him once?”
“Yes, but he quite didn’t believe that I didn’t like him, so as a last resource, I told him I had a boyfriend” You tell him, looking at your phone, thinking about a way to turn him down.
“And he just believed you? He didn’t ask who he was?” He says, asking himself why he didn’t know any of this.
“I mean, yes” You doubt before talking. “I told him I was dating you, and I also told him that if he ever bothered you again then he’d actually never have a chance with me, so, yeah” You rant, and when he doesn’t say anything, you keep talking. “I guess he saw that we weren’t that close anymore and assumed we broke up”
“And he just- he believed it? He didn’t question it?” He frowns again.
“Actually, he said that it made sense and walked away” You shrug, looking at your phone.
“What? Do we look like a couple?” He asks and prays that you don’t look up to see the smile on his face.
“Should I tell him that we’re back together?” You avoid the question.
“That’d work” He waits to talk again after you type your response.“Why didn’t you tell me?”
Something gave you the nerve
To touch my hand
“Didn’t seem important” You don’t look at him, instead, you look at your phone, which seems to make him lose his patience. So he grabs the hand you’re using to grab your phone and puts it down between both of you, with his on top.
“It didn’t seem important that people could think that we’re dating?” He asks, thanking the sound of the birds, because he thinks that if it were silence, you could hear his heartbeat.
“Does it bother you?” He almost jumps with the assumption.
“What?- Are you crazy?, no- Why would that bother me?. Does it bother you? Well I don’t think so because you’re the one that said it. But it definitely doesn’t bother me. Like, I’d be honoured if someone came to me and asked ‘Are you dating Y/n’. Actually, I’d be more honoured if we were dating for real, you know?” He stops his ranting when he notices what he just said, and just closes his eyes, thinking about swinging out of this situation.
When you don’t say anything, he looks at you, seeing you wide-eyed, fighting a smile.
“Is that your way to ask me to be your girlfriend?” He doesn’t answer, he just looks at your mouth, just as you look at his mouth, who’s fighting to say something.
But the words don’t come out of his mouth, instead, he gets closer to you, and you back down a bit, slightly opening your mouth, looking down at his.
“Easy bug-boy” You smile, reminding the wound you cleaned up just a few hours ago. Also reminding him that you’re supposed to be his best friend.
“What’d you call me?” He whispers, laughing before sighing, so mesmerised by you. You smile, and back away, feeling like you’re in heaven when he sighs again.
“You said you liked that, I could call you Spidey if you wante-” You stop talking, his lips almost touching yours. The hand that was on top of your, goes to one side on your neck. “Peter, we shouldn't” You talk, trying to not lose your breath almost.
“I know” He drawls. And that’s when you give in. His lips go to your neck and you can’t take it anymore. When he’s in front of you again, you stop backing away and lean forward.
When your lips meet you feel like you’re going to die. The cold that you were feeling goes away. And you don’t care anymore about the people that could see you.
You just focus on his mouth, so needy for you. His hands, touching you to make sure you won't go away. His body, practically hovering over you.
He's fighting so bad his impulses to not bite your lip, because he's been waiting for this for a long time. But he does anyway, and he seems proud of himself when he hears the sound you make.
His hand moves to the back of your neck, and he moves your head so he can kiss you better. You let him do whatever he wants, and you groan when he stops kissing you.
He laughs after seeing your face, and his lips go to your neck immediately. His other hand goes to your waist, and while you use one to support your body, the other goes to Peter's hair. Which you keep touching when his lips are touching yours again.
He's practically on top of you, and he's about to make you lay down, but you hear someone walking down the street.
So you pull away, and after realising what you just did, both of your hands leave each others body immediately.
"That was a bad idea" You say, barely breathing.
"I'm in love with you" The breath you just catched goes away, and his eyes search for your gaze after he rants. "I'm so in love with you I don't think it's normal. Because you're so, perfect, and I know I don't deserve you"
"Don't say that" You frown.
"You're too nice and I'm so…" He looks at his hands.
"Peter, don't say that" You repeat.
"And I know it's selfish for me to tell you, but we just kissed" He smiles. "And I get it if you don't feel the same but-" You don't give him a chance to continue talking, instead. You grab his face with your hands and kiss him again. This time it's softer, and you just wish that he gets what you mean. You hope that he knows that you're also in love with him, that you love him so much you want to die.
When you pull away, you rest your forehead on his, closing your eyes, because you're sure that the intensity of his gaze might decompose you.
"I love you so much you don't get it. And don't ever say that you don't deserve me. You're so…" You sigh, not able to express it right now. "I'm in love with you, Peter"
"Are you sure?" You look at him, actually wondering if he's being for real.
"We just kissed?" You tell him, to make sure if he remembers.
"You kiss a lot of people that you don't love" He says, thinking about the parties you used to attend every weekend.
"Did you give me a hickey?" You ask, touching your neck.
"You're changing the subject" He closes his eyes halfway. You sigh.
"You're the one changing the subject" You talk back.
"Why would I change the subject?" He sounds offended, even though he's smiling.
"Because you don't want to believe that I'm in love with you" He smiles "Because you think you don't deserve me" He stops smiling "Which is the dumbest thing you've ever said, and it's saying something, because you say a lot of stupid shit" He smiles again.
"Because it's true, it's dangerous, what would they do knowing that you're Spiderman's girlfriend?" He stops smiling, and looks away, regretting everything.
"I'm already your best friend" You remind him.
"It wouldn't be the same, they love that cliche where they get the hero's girlfriend" He scowls.
"They probably think we're already dating" You see him fighting a smile.
"But still-" You roll your eyes, tired of this.
"I'm sure, I'm in love with you" You tell him. And he smiles, he looks so fucking happy, especially when he talks again.
"I did, in fact, give you a hickey" He looks at it, and grabs your wrist when you try to hit him. He doesn't let it go, instead, he puts it down and grabs your hand. "Does that mean you want to be my girlfriend?"
"No, we just ate each other's faces and confessed our love but I won't be your girlfriend, idiot" You say, sarcastically.
"Is that how you talk to the boy you love? No wonder you're single" He rolls his eyes.
"We aren't even together and you're already leaving me" You frown, but it quickly turns into a smile.
"I would never" He assures.
"Yes Peter, I want to be your girlfriend"
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
"Weren't you already dating?" Is what uncle Ben and aunt May ask you when you walk in holding hands a week later.
"What? No" You both say, at the same time.
"Oh, congratulations then" May says, having an excuse to hug both of you again.
"Took you long enough to get the girl" Ben says, but smiles anyway, giving Peter's back a pat.

It’s nice to have a friend
You were walking around Peter's room, he just came back from his usual duty as Spider-man, and was finishing some homework.
"This is new" You tell him, taking a book out of the bookcase, and showing it to him.
"What?" He looks up, and when he sees what's in your hand, his face goes red. Making you frown.
"What's this?" You ask him, smiling as he gets up slowly, afraid that a sudden move might make you open the book.
"Nothing" He lies, walking a step forward, making you back away immediately.
"That's not true, what is it?" You ask again, and before you can look at the book, it flies away from your hand. When you look at Peter, he's taking the webs out of the cover.
"Nothing" This time you're the one who walks forward, closing your eyes halfway.
“What are you hiding?” You’re getting closer to him, actually afraid that he might jump out of the window.
“What do you mean? I’m not hiding anything” He talks as he hides the book behind his back. Once you’re in front of him, he sticks the book on the ceiling and grabs your face so he can kiss it when you look upward.
“Kisses are not going to get you out of this, why are you so embarrassed of a book?” You don’t move when he continues kissing you.
“I’m not embarrassed” You look at his face, almost as red as his suit. “And how are you going to get it out of there anyway?”
“I’m sure May would love to see that” You start to walk away when he wraps his arms around you, laughing.
"Promise you won't laugh at me" He talks, with his arms still hugging you.
"I promise" You assure him, and after he hears it, he jumps and effortlessly sticks to the ceiling, grabbing the book.
He gives it to you and turns around, muttering something about homework.
When you open it you see a lot of pictures, professional ones, polaroids, and even printed from his phone. There's photos of both of you together, of you, and of the things that you like.
Photos of you trying to do your makeup, reading in class, studying, sleeping, crying from laughter. You petting a dog, a cat, running away from a bug. You holding a test that has a 100 written on it. You sitting on a bench while reading a book.
Selfies that you took when he was distracted, when he was texting Flash to leave you alone, when you arrived at your first party. Photos of him doing homework while you sat in his bed. There's one of May and you trying to bake while Peter and Ben are trying to help. You kissing his cheek, and him kissing yours.
Photos of the flowers you saw on the street once and said that you like, a certain street that gave you good vibes, some of the drawings you made of both of you in class. Photos of the matching keychains you made for you to share.
Apart from the date in which the photo was taken, there's annotations under every single photo. Some of them say 'I love you so much', or, 'You fell down right after I took this photo'.
He put his thoughts under each picture, even when it's just 'You look hot in this one'. And that photo was from when you two were just best friends. He also put 'I made that ;)' under the photo where you can see a hickey on your neck.
The book is full of every moment of your friendship, even when that moment was you trying to cut Peter's hair. There was everything, sad thoughts, happy thoughts, normal teenager thoughts.
After you look at every single page, you look up to see Peter watching you.
"Do you think I'm crazy?" He asks after you two just stare at each other.
'What? Why would I think that?" You frown, sitting next to him in his bed.
"Because I made that" He avoids your gaze.
"And it's beautiful Peter, I love it, it's amazing" You hug his side, leaving the book on the chair.
"Are you lying?" He asks and you laugh, rolling your eyes
"You're the dumbest person I know" You lay down as you talk, making him lay down next to you, he turns around so you're facing each other.
"You say that a lot" He frowns, looking almost offended.
"Because it's true, why would I lie? I love it" You see him fighting a smile.
"Thank you" He stops fighting and grins.
"Did you really think I looked hot that day? I remember that you took a lot of photos" He hugs you and hides his face on your neck, and laughs.
"Really?" He talks with his face still on your neck.
"Yes, because if I remember well, we were best friends, you know? Do you think it's normal thinking about your best friend that way?" You grab his face in your hands, making him look at you as you talk.
"Like you're one to talk" He rolls his eyes.
"I'm sorry? I've never thought that" You add, innocently.
"Because I didn't see you almost drool when I wore that outfit you bought me" You smile thinking about it, wondering how you got him to accept your gift.
"You looked hot, you should wear it again" You smile, giving him a quick kiss on the lips.
"Didn't you say you never thought that?" He closes his eyes halfway, leaning in to kiss you again.
"But we're already dating, dumbass" You smile
"Right"
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
They said the end is coming
"What if something happens to you because of me?" You see him trying to hold the tears in his eyes.
"No, listen, listen-" You try to talk, but he doesn't seem to care.
"No, wait, wait, wait" He cuts you off, not willing to let you talk. "I cannot let that happen"
"Listen to me" You get closer to him, so he has no choice but to lean on the wall behind him. "You're Spider-Man, and I love that. But I love Peter Parker more, I always loved you, with no Spider bite and all, with glasses, contact lenses or whatever, that's not gonna change" You search for his gaze. "That's worth it to me"
"I can't lose you" He says, looking directly into your eyes.
"If because you can't lose me, we can't be together, who does that work out for, Peter?" You ask, already knowing the answer.
"I can't, I'm sorry Y/n" You look away, laughing as the tears begin to fill your eyes.
"Wow. You've done this to me again and again Peter. I can't live like this" You take a step backwards as you talk.
"I know, I'm sorry" He doesn't move, instead, he looks at you. "We should break up" He says, so quietly that you have to lean forwards to make sure you heard him right.
"What?" You ask him.
"We should break up" You stare at him, not showing any emotion.
"No" You simply say, crossing your arms.
"What?- You can't say no to a break up?" He frowns.
"I can, and I do, we are not breaking up" You remind him.
"Y/n… It's for the best" He looks down.
"No" You cross your arms. He sighs, passing a hand through his hair.
"Look-"
"I said I can't live like this, but not in that way. You can break up with me when you stop loving me, or when being with me hurts you. But not because of self sabotaging" You don’t talk for a second, letting him process the information. “So, I’m gonna go, talk to me when you don’t want to break up with me”
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
When you open your shared playlist the morning after, you see that the most recent added song is Afterglow-Taylor Swift

Everyone’s up to something
You don’t see Peter until the night after your ‘break up’. He is on your door, with flowers in his hands and sorrys on his lips.
“I’m sorry” He talks as you let him in, scanning his body for new bruises.
“Are you okay?” You ask, grabbing the flowers to put them in a vase.
“You’re too good for me” He mutters as you lead him to the couch, making him sit next to you.
“Stop saying that” You remind him, grabbing his hand.
“I’m sorry” He looks at you, nothing but honesty in his eyes.
“You came here to tell me something, didn’t you?” He nods, still looking for madness in your eyes. “Then do it”
“I don’t want to break up with you, but I don’t want to lose you. If something happened to you because of me, I’d never forgive me. But you make me happy, you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me, I don’t want to lose you” He hugs you, not sure if you’re the one who’s going to break up with him.
“You won’t lose me Peter, they won’t hurt me, if I survived Flash’s tries to flirt with me, I’ll survive anything. I promise” He stays silent for a moment, chuckling at the Flash's mention. Then, he talks.
“I love you”
“I love you too”
He stays there for the night, giving you nothing but kisses, hugs and sweet nothings.
🕸 ⊹ ⋆
I find myself running home to your sweet nothings
“Shut up” Peter says, finally getting up from the chair and walking to his bed, where you're laying.
“No, I’m being for real, hear me out” He suddenly lies on top of you, leaving you unable to get up, but you keep talking. “We make T-shirts with exclusive pictures, and boom, we’re rich”
“You really want to sell my pictures?” He puts his head on your chest, closing his eyes.
“What about one with no shirt and the mask, to keep your identity safe-” Even though he’s not looking, he can feel your smile as he covers your mouth with his hand.
“Let’s sleep” You laugh, pulling his hand away from your face.
“We could be rich” You remind him.
“Shut up” He chuckles, lifting his head to look at you.
“Okay, maybe not sell them to the press, but” He waits for you to finish, raising his
eyebrows.
“Don’t you think Flash would want a T-shirt from the actual Spiderman?”
He doesn’t react for a moment, considering if you’re being serious or not, then, he kisses you, a quick peck, giving you no time to react.
“I’m so in love with you” He says, his head on your chest again.
"I'm so in love with you too" You tell him, with your hand through his hair.

Wildcats (Part XVIII)
XVIII. For survival purposes
MASTERLIST
Summary: Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis, that’s how it worked.
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Zombie apocalypse AU, living dead, zombies, guts, blood, guns, injures, kissing, longing, angst, fluff, reader is horny, girl talk, might miss some important warnings, but you know what this is about
+18, MINORS DNI
You did not have more time to put Daryl up to speed, you both ran towards the place they were holding the meeting, the palace from where you had heard the gunshot. And what you saw when you got there was heartbreaking.
Pete was dead on the floor, headshot, Rick was still holding the gun. Deanna was crying, and in her arms, on the floor, stood Reg, bathed in blood.
Reg! you whimpered when you saw him.
He was the builder of all of Alexandria’s dreams, and there he was, dead, his throat slit open, blood still pouring from it. A katana on the floor, Deanna was weeping, as many others were too. In frightened moans. Jesse was there, watching her dead husband with eyes filled with tears.
You came back home after everything was sorted, you were shaken, but so was Daryl.
“I know he meant a lot for ya”, he said softly as you were walking back to the house
“He was going to teach me how to build real houses”, you whimpered, “meaning, structures and others… things we are going to need in the near future….”, you mumbled. Like the freaking wall around Alexandria.
“You’ll figure it out”, he said softly, leading you with his hand on the small of your back.
You stood on the porch, both of you, like two normal people, who after a normal date, the normal guy would accompany the normal girl back to her normal house and walk her to the normal door. And they were normally nervous, does she invite him in? Does she invite him back to her room?
He took a step forward leaving no space between the both of you.
He placed his hands on your hips, as he sighed.
“Hey”, he muttered
“Hey”, you greeted back, looking at his beautiful eyes.
“I kiss ya”, he said
“Aren’t you sharp, Dixon? nothing scapes ya”, he snorted as you chuckled, “I enjoyed it, and I kissed you too, pretty aggressively, I might add”, you said with a wide smile
“Ya’ wanna to keep kissin’ me?”, he asked again, he seemed unsure, his eyes shone with what looked to be hope, and you hoped you could transmit how much you wanted it with your eyes as he was doing it himself.
“Yes”, you said, hoping not to sound too eager.
“Why?”
“Why?”, you echoed his question, how could he not get it?
“Why would ya? keep kissin’ someone like me?”
“Someone like you”, what does that even mean?”, you asked, incredulously, “someone kind? strong and compassionate? loyal? generous?, someone who would give his life for his family? Someone who can spend days hunting to make sure we don’t starve? someone who can survive in this fucked up world? someone devastatingly handsome? with arms for days?”, you kept going until he was blushing mess
“I’m way older than ya”, he said then.
“I don’t care”, you said with a soft smile, “but I do care that all you’re doing is looking for excuses”, she chided softly, “we are going to find a lot, you too… my only question is why would YOU like to keep kissing me?”
“Ya are the most beautiful person I have ever seen”, he drawled. “You’re badass, protective…”, he said, you smiled warmly at him, “Would ya like me to… keep kissin’ ya’?”, he asked softly.
“I would enjoy that, yes”, you said, nodding excitedly, “and if you get tired I can always… kiss you”
“Soun’ fair”, he said, with a little smile.
“Like this”, you said, leaning in and kissing him softly. He grabbed onto you, returning the kiss passionately.
You released his lips again, because you believed you were never going to let him go if you didn’t, you shared looks, as he placed his forehead against yours. You breathed each other, enjoying eachother’s warmth
“Are you alright?”, you didn’t know what else to ask him, you wanted to know what happened in that trip
“Yeah”, he whispered softly against your lips. “Now I am”, you smiled warmly at him
“Want to talk about it?”, he shook his head. You weren’t gonna lie, you were disappointed but, you were not going to press him. Something happened on his run with Aaron, something that led him to realize something that led him to kiss you.
But if he didn’t want to talk about it, the important part is that he was ok, he was back home, and he had kissed you.
He leaned in and kissed you now, and you enjoyed it even more…
Should you invite him to your room? Should you… screw him good like you wanted to for a while now? since the very first time you saw his naked arms, you believed.
Someone cleared their throats, making you split.
Michonne, Rick, Rosita and Abraham were looking at you, all of them with smiles on their faces. Rick looked at the two of you and he looked positively surprised. Like he just found his teenage daughter with a boy
“Well! about time!”, said Abraham.
Daryl seemed completely uncomfortable, as he cleared his throat, looking everywhere but at the people there, including you
“Let’s leave them alone”, said Rosita, taking Abraham with her.
Only Rick, Michonne, Daryl and you entered the house. The silence that ensued turned awkward, really awkward. Rick didn’t seem to be in the mood to deal with any of it, he disappeared quickly.
Michonne winked at you before she disappeared as well, leaving the both of you alone.
“Do you want us to… go down to your room?”, you asked him, you believed he was going to be more comfortable in his domains. He smiled at you, but he leaned in and kissed you on your forehead.
“Let’s go to yours”, he said. Not only for having… intimacy of any kind with him, but you needed to talk. You were a bit disappointed that he had not let you go down there, since you had never seen his room, but again you were more comfortable in yours.
You closed the door when he entered the room behind you.
“Wha’ happen?”, he asked, “when I was gone?”, you looked back at him with a conflicted look in your eyes. You were for certain nobody was going to hear you, so you could speak freely.
“Everything happened quickly”, you said softly, “Rick and Pete started fighting in the street in broad daylight”, you started telling him everything that happened, “And when Deanna stopped him, he had a gun and started pointing it at people”, he didn’t seem impressed at all, “he started saying, that Deanna’s ways were over, that they needed to change… then Michonne herself knocked him out…”, you explained, “where did he get the gun? then I learned that he stole it from the armory…”, you said, “he told Glenn, Michonne, Carol, Abraham and me that he intended on a hostile takeover of Alexandria… but it didn’t came to it…”, you saw the guilt in his eyes as soon as you saw him, “you knew”, you said
“I did”, he said
“I thought of Carol…”
“She was in it too”, he said, “she stole guns from the armory…”
“Why?”, you asked him
“I didn’t take one”, he said lowly. You took a long breath
“Did you want to participate in a hostile takeover?”, you asked him
“If it was necessary”, he said, “but I wanted to try first”, you believed him.
“What was on Rick’s mind?”, you asked him
“I dunno”, well, definitively imposing his own vision of things on this place. A violent, but more realistic approach, “he wants to save this place, whatever it takes”, that whatever it takes being slashing some throats, for example.
“What do you want to do?”, you asked him, he looked back at you. Both standing in the middle of the room.
“I wanna us to be safe ‘ere”, he said, “Carl, Judith, ya… ya’ deserve it”. You only looked at him
“At any cost?”, you asked him
“It won’ come to it”, he said, “not after tonight”, Deanna had ordered Rick to execute Pete, Deanna had seen the “light”, so, he was right… You nodded at him.
“So, can we finally call this place home?”, you asked him. He smiled
“Guess so”, he said finally. There was an awkward silence
“Do you wanna stay?”, you asked him. He moved where he stood, uncomfortably
“I reek”, he mumbled
“I don’t care”, you said
“M’gonna ruin yer sheets”, he whispered
“I don’t care”, you echoed, looking at him intensely, “we slept together on the road many times… I think… we should stick together, you know, for surviving purposes”, you said quickly, cheeks heated.
“G’night”, he drawled, kissing you int he forehead, and he left you there. mouth wide open as you saw him disappeared through the door.
He rejected you?
Is anybody else going to block your metaphorical cock? First Rick, then the entire group, and now the very man that was kissing you. You grunted, about to throw a fit like a kid.
You were a woman, a relatively healthy woman, and as such, you had needs.
And now you had a kissing buddy who could meet those needs… but that kissing buddy as much as ran away from you.
But you had just kissed, you couldn’t pressure him, you need to take it slow… a bit hard to take it slow when you had already literally sleeping with him
This meant nothing, right? that he as well as ran away from your room didn’t mean he didn’t want to be with you… in that way… right?
. . .
“so….”, you looked up from the blueprint at Rosita and Maggie, both looking at you with mischievous looks in their eyes. They had found you, the gazebo in the small park had become your sanctuary, is where Reg, Noah and you met, before they both died horribly.
“So?”, you asked, even though you already knew what this might be about
“You had been… kissing… Daryl for a week now…”, teased Maggie, “soo… how is he?”
“Kissing?”, you asked, wanting to throw yourself into the lagoon and never resurface. Because kissing is all you have been doing…
It was… odd, to say the least, he would look for you, place his hand on your hip or waist when he was by your side… he would look for you every morning, to greet you and before he went on runs…
But kissing is all you had been doing, a soft peck on the lips when he said good morning, or good night, or goodbye.
Everybody caught on by now, Daryl made sure to… make his presence known by your side in front of everybody by now, but then, when you were alone, he would just leave, especially when you invited him to your room, or tried to go with him to his.
“No!”, exclaimed Rosita, “you haven’t screwed yet?”
“Hey!”, said Maggie, slapping her shoulder playfully, but then she turned to you, “well… have you?”. you had been on edge, to say the least, you were about to start humping his leg like some horny dog, you were about to start climbing walls like a woman possessed by hornyness.
“Come on! spill girl!”, encouraged Rosita. So you looked at the both of them and sighed loudly
“He won’t fuck me”, you admitted, “he won’t do it, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong”, they shared concerned looks
“It’s not you…”, said Maggie
“I haven’t been sutil”, you warned, “I have invited him to sleep with me, almost every night, on my room, and he won’t do it, I think I scared him, and now he won’t even go to the second floor in fear of me”
“He is special…”, said Maggie
“You know him the longest”, you said, closing your notebook and looking at her, “is he regretting ever kissing me?”, you asked her
“No”
“Have you spoken to him?”, you asked her
“No”, she echoed, “but I’m sure he doesn’t regret it, I mean… he made sure everybody knew you two are together, he might as well pee on you”, she giggled.
You lowered your head, he hasn't even invited you out of the walls, like that day, you had such a good time, and if you suggested it… he shut it down quite quickly.
“Are we even together?”, you asked out loud
“He kissed you”, said Maggie, “he wants to be with you”
“It’s only been a week”, you whispered, “and I already feel like this is not advancing, we aren’t even speaking”
“So weird”, muttered Rosita, “Dixon looks like he would rail the shit out of you”, she said, you both laughed. It was tragi-comic at this point.
Maybe you were getting ahead of yourself, maybe he was the one who wanted to take it slow… but he didn’t even want to hang out with you…
From the gazebo you actually saw Daryl, jumping off of his bike with something in his hand and going into the pantry
He had gone out of the walls everyday since that day… and even though you never needed him here, because Rick had been weirdly calm… you couldn’t help but actually feel trapped in here, you haven't gone out there like he had, He wouldn’t take you anywhere either, so…. you wanted to get out there, maybe, put some distance between you… maybe that’ll do you both some good, to help him figure out what he wanted.
You wanted to be with him, hang out with him, have talks with him, you wanted him to pin you to your bed and…you shook your head… What did he want?
But not only because of him… this place was making you weak, you needed to get out there, you enjoyed it, besides the walkers of course, you liked scavenging, not with the Alexandria team though.
You left the girls behind as you almost ran to the man, who was coming out, empty handed, out of the pantry/garage
“Daryl!”, you said excitedly, he seemed startled, “how did the run go?”
“Found the damn’ pasta maker!”, he said, excited, like he had found the cure. You laughed as you wrapped your arms around him, he placed his hands on your waist, smiling at you.
“I want to go out there”, you said, and yes, you were testing him, trying for the last time
“Wha’ for?”, he asked, frowning, “ya should stay ‘ere”, he said softly, learning in and giving you a peck on the lips, “need to go”, he mumbled, releasing you and walking away like you were the plague incarnate.
You walked back to Maggie and Rosita with your tail between your legs.
You wanted to get out there again, and you knew Daryl wasn’t going to take you.
Also, you wanted to be useful, to your family, and to put your piece into the new community. You wanted to get out there.
And suddenly, you realized where you had to go. And you turned to Rosita.
“I need to ask you something”, you said with a short smile.
. . .
“I want to go to DC”, you said to Abraham, Eugene, Rosita and RIck, you had trouble setting this up, every time you had one, the other was somewhere else, but alas, here they were, besides Rosit helped.
“Why?”, asked Rick
“Those three wanted to go for a reason”, you said, signaling to the trio
“It was a lie”, said Abraham
“Not completely, you said you were talking to people there, and Eugene wanted to go for a reason, and he was right, if there is someone left, is probably there”
“Deanna said they evacuated them all”, muttered Rick
“So it’s gonna be empty, either way”, you said simply
“Are you planning on sightseeing?”, mocked Rosita, you smiled
“I always wanted to see the Lincoln monument, but yeah… I think it’s a good idea, Atlanta was still… lively”, you muttered, but nobody looked convinced, “look, I will go, I just gathered you here to hear your opinions and if you wanted to join me, it's just a couple of hours from here”, you said surely, “I can go for a couple of days''
“You are not going alone”, commanded Rick. You took a long sigh
“I will not make anybody come with me, I get it's very dangerous”, you said with a convincing look, “but I feel like at least one of us has to see what’s up there, for closure or whatever”, you assured him.
“I want to go with you”, said Rosita, and you smiled
“So do I”, said Abraham, “i want to see what all the fuss is about”
“I think its best if I stay put…”, Eugene kept mumbling objections, so you tuned him out.
“Right!”, you said with a wide smile, “we are a team”, Rick looked a you
“Are you sure you want to do this?”, he asked
“Damn right”, you said
“I’ll need to talk to Deanna”
“Why?”, you asked that so quickly you earned a look of disapproval from Rick, “Sorry I forgot”
“Yeah, I don’t like it either”, said Abraham, “since when do we ask for permission?”
“I think it would be best”, he said simply, “let her know”
“But if she insists that one of those idiots has to go with us, I will cancel the whole thing”, you warned, he smiled and shook his head
“Right”, he said, “are you all sure?”
“We need to score a big run”, said Rosita, “DC is out safest bet”
“Fine”, he said, nodding, “I’ll tell Deanna tonight”
“No others”, you said
“You didn’t tell Daryl?”, all eyes were on you when Rick asked you that.
“No”, yous aid shortly, “he is out with Aaron, didn’t want to concern him
“Fine”, said Rick

Summary: Your husband Pete reads the epilogue of the book you're on and there's only one way to keep him from spoiling it for you now…

Note: I contemplated whether to make this dark or not but then said what the hell?! Shorter than usual (I think) because it's been a hot minute.
MASTERLIST
"Aw, thank you, baby." Pete flashed you the million dollar smile that had charmed you so much the first time you saw it that it had directly led to this very moment.
"Honey~" you sweetly called out to your loving husband in that one tone he adored so much that he preferred you spoke to him in it all the time. "Here~" you held out the mini tray containing a chilled beer and loaded sandwich for him to snack on while he watched some old movie that you were frankly too young to know anything about.
You smiled and turned on your heels to place yourself next to him on the couch that faced the tv, feeling a tiny butterfly flutter in the base of your tummy due to how he patted the spot beside him for you to sit in that dominant way of his. The man could literally so much as breathe and have your whole stomach flip. He had you whipped.
Not much interested in the rather vintage movie, you turned to your book that you had bookmarked before leaving to make your husband a sandwich because he liked a snack or two with his movies. Your fingers hurriedly turned the pages as you found your chapter, bottom lip moving itself between your teeth in excitement. You had been perfectly engrossed in a particularly thrilling part where a plot twist was unfolding when your husband had ordered- no, requested his craving.
Why would Pete ever order you outside the bedroom? Pfft, no way. He was a very giving and kind husband who would never disrespect you!
Yes, maybe sometimes he was just a little mean during punishments but it was never not duly deserved.
It wasn't unfair. Not by a long shot. Pete worked hard for the both of you and your future family throughout the week so you could stay at home in pretty dresses and do whatever you pleased. Your only jobs were to cook, clean and take care of his husbandly needs.
And that was all!
You weren't the one who had to go out into the scary outside world and deal with all those dangerous people that lurked past the protective doors of your house! Honestly, if it weren't for Pete being such a supportive and devoted husband, you didn't know where you would be right now.
You would be cold, alone and miserable with no one to protect you. His words from training time faintly rang in your ears.
Pete was right.
He always was.
Your love was the only one who meant you no harm and could keep you safe.
Everyone else had already failed you or eventually would. Even your parents. Because seriously, what guardian is so careless as to take their child to baseball games where the ball could crack your skull open anytime! Honestly, how careless could your father be! Your mother was no different because, what kind of a woman encourages her daughter to have a career instead of teaching her the much needed and important domestic skills so she could keep her future family happy and healthy! Making you risk your precious life by letting you persue a career in law out of all!
If this wasn't the prime example of the fact that no one except for Pete truly cared about your comfort and safety, you didn't know what was.
Yes, so what if he had roofied your drink in the bar before taking you to your real home with him? He had only meant well! You had been far too headstrong and stupid a girl back then to know proper manners for someone your gender. But Pete had been very kind. Though you had fought relentlessly in the beginning and attempted to escape the premises of this house that was nothing but love and care, he forgave you for everything!
How much more wonderful could this man get?!
Your husband had smiled at every insult, laughed at every injury you had inflicted on his skin and heart, kissed away every tear you had so foolishly shed.
And then he had taught you proper wife etiquette.
Honestly, no one had ever bothered to put up with you that much.
"Honey?" Pete called out to you in a semi-distracted tone, blue eyes still trained on the tv as you stared at the pages in front of you with wide eyes as a realization washed over you. But before you could communicate your thoughts like you had been taught to do so, your husband continued. You hummed for him to go on, mind still stuck on the page. "Want to know something real funny?"
Obedience had been woven into every fiber of your existence. So you turned your head to look at him with curious eyes after making a mental note to tell him what you had realized just now later. Because Pete always came first. So you had to await your turn.
"Funny?" You tilted your head to the side, one arm looping around his arm as you perched your chin on his shoulder. "Sure, dear! I like funny…" Your nose crinkled a little as you smiled in the way he had taught you.
A devious smile spread over your husband's lips. "I read the epilogue while you were in the kitchen" it took you a few moments to realize what he was hinting at. He had done it before and the way he finally turned his head to look at you with mischief dancing in his ocean blue eyes, placing the now empty tray on the table in front of the couch, you knew he was about to do it again.
"No! You didn't!" You squealed as he laughed in the comic typical evil way, tackling you until your back was flat against the couch. "No! Please, honey! No!" You helplessly whined as you shook your head violently, tossing the book open and hurrying through the words. "I am almost at the epilogue! You cannot do this to me!"
"That's just a shame, isn't it?" The protestant kicking of your feet that rested on his back now caused a clinking sound in the air due to the thick iron cuff enclasped around one of your ankles.
"Noooo! Pleeeeease!" You pouted as his goatee gently pricked your fingertips that were pressing against his mouth in a desperate attempt to quieten him. "Honey, please! I've been a good girl!" That was the reason why you had maintained your reading privileges for three straight weeks at this point. "You're being cruel for no reason!"
"Aw. Don't you remember?" Prying your fingers off his mouth was no challenge to the older man. "Husbands can do whatever they want whenever they want…" You whined loudly as you ignored the tingle in your nether regions that his dark tone had caused, flipping the page and hurrying through the words, holding the book between your faces. "Okay, soooo… what happens is–"
"Ohmygosh you're so meeeean!" Now your free hand desperately darted to your own body before you fished out one of your boobs from the neckline of your dress. A whimper escaped from your lips when you reached for Pete's nape next before arching your back to further close the gap between your bodies. The action clasped the space of your husband's mouth shut as he hummed against your tender flesh now.
Pete had this rather mean way (that you didn't actually mind) of torturing you when you were reading sometimes. He would sneakily read from a section way ahead of where you were and then tease you with spoilers until you shoved his mouth with one of your private parts.
You faintly recalled being heavily opposed to it at one point.
But there was no other way to stop him when he was at this.
And that was alright because he was your husband who loved you and loved him.
… Right?
"Hmmm~" you softly moaned in the way he liked. His clothed dick instantly stiffened under your pussy like it always did; a confirmation that you had done the right thing. Your hips that were not as securely clad as your husband's began to slowly piston against his crotch, the dress being the only cover for your bottom since you weren't allowed underwear inside the house. Pete liked you accessible 24/7. So he could bend you whenever he pleased over any surface with no hassle.
It was the least you could do after all that he did for you.
Your legs tightened around Pete's waist as did his arms around yours. It was crazy to you how easy it was for him to handle your body however he desired since he physically looked more on the lean side. But his strength was no joke, you were nothing but a doll between his fingers.
And the reminder always made your wifey parts quiver.
"Hmmm… my perfect wife~" Pete's husky grunt caused your holes to clench around empty air as he latched onto your other boob that you had pushed out next. "Such a good slut… knows exactly what I like…" Your brows were furrowed and hands shaky, breaths hitting the paper that you struggled to both hold and read without dropping it on your face. "It's almost as if-" a loud sucking noise erupted in the air when he forcefully pulled his mouth away from your hardened nub, the feeling causing your back to arch as your hips increased their pace. "-As if you were only born so you could be my good little wife, huh baby?" His slightly rough hands were manly and strong against the soft skin of your chest, lips and teeth grazing against your sensitive skin while the goatee caused the tickles that never failed to tip you over the edge.
"B- Because I was, hubby!" You whimpered submissively as you failed all your attempts to make sense of the words in front of you. Pete had already told you why this was and he was right.
You were far too simple minded to multitask.
"What was that?" As his hips started to work against yours, the soft burn of the expensive fabric of your dress rubbing against your throbbing and leaking pussy caused tiny droplets of sweat to form on your temples. The book fell from your hands and on the ground besides the couch at last.
"I- I was only born s- so I could be your good little wife, hubby!" You cried out as you attempted to sink your nails in his shoulders but your husband beat you to it.
"That's fuckin' right…" Pete's breaths were heavy as he reached for the chain that connected to your ankle cuff and pulled it upwards. It was locked around a sturdy hook hidden under the living room couch on the other end. Long enough to allow you to move around the house to perform your wifely tasks but not an inch longer to entertain any funny or rebellious– dangerous attempts that could be made while he was out earning your bread and butter. Only Pete had the key that could unlock it.
You whined loudly when he deprived you from touching him while exposing your aching core in an even more intimate position at the same time by snaking the chain around your wrists and holding both your hands as well as your shackled ankle above your head.
The new position further distanced your pussy lips as you rubbed your swollen flesh against the soft material of his trousers now, your dress a wrinkled mess in the middle of your body.
"Mmm… I need you so bad, hubby…" You whispered out, throat dry and face twisted in need and want. "Please…"
"Do you deserve it, huh baby?" Now he laid out some of the cold chain against your throat with his free hand, lips parted and eyes dark. "Have you been a good wife for me?"
You vigorously nodded, clenching around air once more as your eyes rolled to the back of your head when he applied pressure to the makeshift leash against your windpipe, the loss of air and realization of the imbalance of power causing you to pant and hump the man harder.
Pete could do to you literally anything that he desired and you would happily let him just to please him.
That was your only priority after all; your real duty.
"You're gonna have to use your words, honey…" Your husband released your windpipe as he spoke, causing your back to arch once more to try and breathe better.
"I… I…. deserve it, hubby. I really do… I've been s- so good… I promise…" Your chest rose and fell as it glistened under the lights due to the tiny beads of sweat coating it along with Pete's saliva. "I- I deserve you~" your last word was a gasp against his lips that he finally smashed against yours, chaining down your windpipe again as he helped stimulate your worked up pussy by moving his own hips in sync to yours.
You were too close. It was dangerous. You had to break away and ask his permission if you didn't want to get punished. Cumming without Pete's permission was always followed by cruel edging that stretched on for weeks. Your husband was a master at taking you high to the point of utter dumbness only to leave you deprived and trembling at the last moment.
But you liked to kiss him so much…
That and you didn't want him to feel like you were prioritizing your pleasure over kissing him.
That would be such a selfish thing to do!
And good wives were supposed to be giving, understanding, patient and supportive.
It was a dilemma.
But as always, your knight came to your rescue and you knew you could never love him more than you did in this moment. "Cum for me and I'll consider…" It was like he could read your body and boy did you adore him for it.
Your air came back -or rather, was allowed to do so- just as fast as your vision went out when your tense insides finally bloomed open and went crashing over you the barrage of pleasure that had been building up inside of you. You moaned Pete's name along with heartfelt praises as you trembled, hips slowing down to avoid overstimulation as you blinked away the stars in your vision.
Rubbing and humping definitely had their own kinds of orgasms.
"Atta girl… That's it… Just like that…" Your husband whispered in your ear, his still clothed cock now rock hard against your worked up pussy. "Good girl…" Though he still kept a firm hold on your ankle and wrists, Pete let go of the makeshift leash to reach for your marked boobs that he began to caress. "You feel that, baby?" A soft whine pushed past the pout that formed on your lips. "This is what you do to me…" His voice was strained as he held back a moan, his stiff crotch teasing you now as he let go of your breasts to open his fly.
It was then that it suddenly occurred to you.
And though you knew from ample experience that it was never pleasant… you had to do the right thing.
You owed it to your perfect husband.
"U- Uh, honey…" You hissed out softly, trying to move your hips away from the torturous humping he was still subjecting you to. When Pete didn't respond, you tried again, only this time more timid because you knew too well how he responded to denial and rejection. "D- Darling…"
His nostrils flared as he exhaled loudly in annoyance. "What?" Your bottom lip wobbled at his snappish tone.
The man of the house did not like to be delayed when he wished to wreck his lady apart.
"I- I need to tell you s- something…" Pete gave up fiddling with the fly, looking up at you now.
"And it can't wait?" Your eyes stung when he refused to mend his tone but you told yourself it was because he wanted you so bad that he didn't want anything to come between you two.
Yes, that was it.
The truth.
Pete had told you this many times.
"I- I don't think you would like it…" Averting your gaze from his heated one and training it on his neck, you whimpered out your next words because of how his body had suddenly stiffened against yours. "I- I…" You bit your lip, already heightened heart rate refusing to slow down. Pete appreciated it when you were honest about this, you didn't understand why it was making you feel so panicked and sad.
Hopeless.
"D- Dangerous memories have been r- resurfacing again…" His tone and expression instantly changed after hearing this. They were darker but less rude now.
"Oh…" Pete stopped for a few moments to recollect himself. "F- For how long, baby?"
"D- Dunno… didn't really notice it until I remembered a whole episode from my time in court in the m- morning…" You couldn't help but whimper when you looked back up at him.
He seemed almost dumbfounded for a second before he spoke. "I see, honey…" Stopping for a few moments, Pete let go of your chains to caress your hair lovingly. "... And… What do we do when that happens, baby?" Your husband's voice was barely above a whisper as he peeked up at you with skeptical eyes.
"W- We have to go downstairs to fix it so the dangerous memories cannot form any silly ideas in my simple baby mind, hubby…" The man's worried expression changed to one of surprise.
And then the biggest smile made its way on his handsome face.
"Aren't the most perfect little girl, huh?" You couldn't help but blush and relax when he went back to being nice.
Disappointed and angry Pete was one you preferred to avoid at all costs.
"I just love you, hubby…" It came out the way the man had programmed you to say it before you gently pressed your mouth to his. "Wanna please you and make you happy…" Your husband pulled at one of your cheeks lovingly before he peppered soft kisses around your nose, making you giggle from how his goatee tickled your skin.
"So, then… shall we?" The older looked almost proud and smug as he crawled off of you and undid your ankle cuff, softly caressing the slightly red skin before he offered you a hand to sit up.
You smiled as you pushed away a rather unfamiliar stinging in your chest, focusing on the man in front of you instead as you took his hand and stood up, naively following him out of the living room and into the basement, hand in hand with your fingers intertwined.
Pete smirked to himself darkly as he turned the dial of the combination lock on the door of the basement cell before opening it for you to step in. He could still remember the time when you used to push all of your faculties to try and override the lock system somehow.
All that fight to get out only to voluntarily step in with a smile now.
You were definitely Pete's Magnum opus.

“You have to stop taking your grief out on me.” There wasn’t an awful lot more Jake Seresin could have done about it. And the only thing he could think of that could fix the situation he found himself in was to go back in time, fly a little faster, and save your brother and what Jake could only describe as your ‘adoptive’ fathers, lives.
But he couldn’t bend the laws of physics anymore than he could bend time. So, he stayed standing in your living room—watching as you folded up the remaining bits of laundry you’d been neglecting to put away.
You hadn’t spoken in three very long, very silent days. The home you shared had become a silent battle ground of unspoken fear, grief and anger. You could cut the tension with a knife it had gotten so bad—but Jake gave you the space you so clearly needed. Until now—
“Leave me alone Jake.”
During those three days all Jake could think about was how he might lose you because he wasn’t a good enough pilot to be able to save Maverick and Rooster. He wasn’t fast enough, he wasn’t prepared enough—
Hell he wasn’t brave enough.
“Okay, I cannot, no matter how much you blame me—no matter how much you ask, no matter how much you criticize, ignore my existence or question me, I cannot bring them back baby.” Jake made his way across the space when you didn’t answer him, he missed the way things used to be before that damned mission. He crouched to his knees across from you—piles of washing kept a little distance. But none of that stopped Jake from tilting your chin up so that you had no choice but to look at him as he spoke. Nothing stopped him from cupping your cheeks in his hands just to run his thumbs across your soft and supple cheeks.
“I’m right here, I’m right in front of you baby—“ You and Jake had been on rocky rounds since he’d called you to inform you that your brother, Bradley Bradshaw and your uncle or, as some would be more comfortable referring to him as your dad, Pete Mitchell had both been killed during a mission. “Please look at me?” Jake continued to guide your gaze to his eyes. He smiled softly when you finally gave him the time of day. “I’m right here, just talk to me.”
He had to be the one who told you.
Jake couldn’t leave that task to anyone else—it was the least he could do, considering he had been the one who’d gone after them.
“I don’t even know who I’m looking at anymore.” There was a sickening feeling that hadn’t left your body since Jake had told you two of the most important people in your life had both died. “I don’t believe you when you say that you, Hangman, did everything you could to try and save them.”
You never called Jake Hangman, you knew deep down how much the meaning behind his callsign kept him up at night. But here you were, throwing it right back in his face.
Jake Seresin thought you loved him, understood who he was to the very bone. Jake thought you trusted him, knew his mind, body and soul. He had a ring tucked away in his bedside table—a Diamond worth more than he could afford. But yet here you were:
Just like all the others who ever came before you.
Jake thought you were different, that you saw him for who he really was. You were Bradley Bradshaw's little sister, the barista who made the world's most perfect oat milk vanilla lattes and just so happened to work at the coffee stand on base while Jake was stationed in Lemoore. Did he know you were Rooster's little sister? Not initially. Did he back down when he’d connected all the dots? No—he still thought you were just the sweetest thing.
But now you were sitting right in front of him, folding laundry that you’d neglected, calling him a liar after he’d told you all that he knew and all that he did.
“I don’t believe you when you say you didn’t hold back, that you did everything you could have to get there in time because I know you—“ Jake had dropped his hand a long time ago at this point. But he still sat there right in front of you and took the metaphorical beating you gave his person, his very being. “And I know that deep down, you and Bradley hated each other with such a passion that as soon as the opportunity came up where you could get rid of him? you took it.”
It was misguided anguish, Jake knew that. But this was getting a little too personal for his ego to handle.
“Is that what you really think?” Jake asked softly as he watched you get up off the ground with a huff. You’d promised you wouldn’t cry anymore, but you should have learnt by now not to make promises you couldn’t keep. “Do you really think I hated your brother so much that I'd just let him die?”
It wasn't just a question of morality, it was a question of character. Just who did you really think Jake was?
“Don’t walk away from me!” Jake hissed as he got up off the living room floor to follow you. Hell three weeks ago he thought he’d follow you anywhere on earth. Now he wasn’t too sure if you’d even let him. “Y/n! Don’t you dare walk away from me.”
“Leave me alone Jake!” You spat back as you made your way down the hallway towards your bedroom. “Before I say something I’ll regret.”
“Oh no honey, let's air out all our grievances now!” It was the condescending tone you didn’t appreciate the most as Jake followed you into your shared bedroom. He slammed the door so hard behind him that it nearly came off its hinges. It made you freeze in your place, the loud obnoxious sound of the door slamming shut rattled in your mind as Jake's footsteps grew heavy as he walked closer and closer to you. “Fucking tell me you don’t mean what you said.” He growled with a disdain in his temperament. “TELL ME!”
You’d never seen your boyfriend so mad before. Usually Jake was pretty content, but it was clear that your suspicions had struck a raw nerve.
“You killed my brother.” Was all you said as the backs of your legs hit the side of your bed. “And you killed the only man who was ever remotely my dad.” Jake could see it in your eyes—you believed every word you spoke with enough conviction that he even questioned what the truth of the matter was. “You're meant to be the best! But yet you weren’t good enough to save the two most important men in my life!?”
“I did everything that I could!” Jake was beginning to lose his damn mind as he pulled at his hair and clenched his jaw so hard he thought his teeth might break. “I love you, I really do but you are taking this too far Y/n—I didn’t kill your family! The enemy did, they were the ones who flew a little faster in better jets with better equipment and they were the ones who fired the missile—NOT ME!”
Jake knew you didn’t believe him, he knew that you’d already left before you had the guts to say it. He could see it written all over your face like a bad breakup song from the nineties. You couldn’t sleep beside the man who you blame with every fiber of your being for the deaths of your father and brother.
But you just couldn’t pull the trigger.
“Is this really how it’s gonna be?” Jake asked as he stepped a little closer, his chest was practically pressed against yours as you held your ground. “You blame me, I deny deny deny until my dying breath and we keep going around in circles like this?” The feeling of Jake's palm against your cheek had your tears welling, his thumb brushed against the apple of your cheek and all those stray hairs were now tucked back behind your ear. “I thought you knew me baby, c’mon, look at me yeah? Do you really think that I didn’t do enough?”
The silence that lingered spoke volumes. Jake knew right then and there that he had to leave, he had to step away. He couldn’t keep doing this—begging you to remember who he was because you were so clouded by your own grief.
Never once had you asked if he was okay. Never once had you asked how he was, if he was going alright after getting there just five seconds too late. You never asked if he laid awake at night playing that scenario over and over in his mind—never. You never asked because you didn’t care. You didn’t believe he was an innocent man in all of this.
“You know what?” But Jake Seresin was good at putting up walls to protect his heart. He was good at playing pretend, playing the part in people’s lives that they needed him to be. It was just easier to be The Hangman than it was to be Jake. Standing before the love of his life realizing that he would always and forever be remembered as the man who killed her brother was a role he never thought he’d play:
But for you he’d do it, and he’d do it well.
“Fine—I admit it.” Jake stepped back to put some distance between the two of you. He knew he’d never be so close to you again. It broke his heart into a million pieces but if this was who you really needed him to be he’d be that person. “I could have done more, but I chose not to.”
“Jake—“ You’d been thinking about it for days, the possibility, the probability that Jake had more involvement than he was leading you to believe. But hearing him actually say it threw everything you thought you knew out the window, along with your relationship.
“All your brother ever did was sit on that fucking perch of his and the one time he needed to get off? He wasn’t nearly capable enough to get himself out of a tough situation.” Jake had never hated Bradley, sure they had their tiffs and differences over the years but never did he ever hate the guy. “And Mav? His arrogance finally caught up with him! You should take some fucking comfort in the fact they’re both with your dead daddy now—it’s one big family fucking reunion because I chose to not take the shot when I so clearly had it!”
It was the biggest betrayal you’d ever experienced.
“Get out!”
“What! You’ve been blaming me for everything since before the funerals and now you wanna stand there and pretend you didn’t see it fucking coming?” Jake scoffed as he made his way across the room to collect a few things he’d need before showing up to Coyote's front door with his tail between his legs.
It was the biggest betrayal Jake had ever experienced.
“Leave! Get out of my house! Get out of my life before you have a chance to take anything else away from me!” You had never felt such a heartbreak, felt such a loss than when you finally heard Jake admit it. He could have saved them, but he chose not to for his own selfish reasons.
But Jake was a good man, he had his morals and his own heart to protect. He’d never forgiven himself for not being just a fraction faster—because when he saw that F-14 explode with two of the most important people in your life inside as his thumb grazed the trigger—he knew he’d lost you too.
“Trust me Bradshaw, you’ve got nothing left to fucking lose.” ***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~**~***~

Kenta
Okay. It is once again time for me to talk about my number one little man. I was interested in Kenta from the very beginning, and at some point I realized that I was not going to be normal about him, but I really did not anticipate how much he would come to mean to me. I hope y'all have enjoyed witnessing my descent into feral blorbo state. It is not over for me in the slightest.
I want to say that Garfield really acted the shit out of this role, and the writers knew what they were doing when they cast him. His arc was so important to the overall plot, with his growth being pivotal to Tony's downfall, and yet he had a relatively small amount of dialogue to work with (although certainly not the smallest amount of the cast).
A lot of his scenes involve him standing in Tony's office, taking instructions, or even just simply observing. A lot of his lines are based around business deals and errands—rather than furthering his emotional development. He doesn't give big speeches, he doesn't talk about his feelings or his dreams, it's always just "I'm doing xyz for Tony, and I will never betray him."
Some of his most dialogue heavy scenes are in one stairwell with Pete and in another with Tony, which I think are extremely pivotal moments, both of which reveal a fear of abandonment.
But it's honestly when he's quiet that he says the most.
And I love that, I'm obsessed with it. I love that the whole fandom could insantly tell that he and Pete had something going on, just from the way they looked at each other. I love that the storytelling in his arc was so highly visual.
In the beginning, Kenta appears to be nothing more than Tony's lackey: quiet, intimidating, and actively complicit with what is going on.
But as we see him more and more, it becomes exceedingly apparent that he cares, so much. I know I am biased in saying this, but I do also pay close attention to what other people are saying about Kenta, and I know almost everyone has been waiting the entire series to see him stand up to Tony. The amount of acting that Garfield did with his eyes, while remaining such a stoic character, was insane.
Despite him repeatedly declaring his loyalty to Tony, despite the fact that he does not reveal any actions against Tony until episode 12, we feel so much of his inner conflict.
I think for me, personally, the aspect of Kenta's character that I relate to the most is his inability to speak up when he wants to. I've struggled with selective mutism my entire life, and there have been countless, countless scenarios where I've had so many things to say and no ability to say them. The more dire the situation, the more my words fail me. I have to spend so much of my energy constantly planning for potential conflict scenarios just so I can have the time I need to figure out which words to use. Because it can sometimes take months for me to figure out certain phrases. And because it is so painful to stay silent when you want to tell someone to stop. To stop fighting, to stop hurting each other, to stop hurting me.
So I was beyond moved and proud to watch Kenta finally be able to protect his brothers and quietly say the one thing he has wanted to say all along.
Don't hurt anyone anymore.
Don't hurt anyone anymore.
Don't hurt anyone anymore.
I will take some of the words that P'Chod gave to Garfield before they went into production. "It’s just you want to live in a peaceful house and be happy together.” All we want is peace.
I wish that Kenta had not been forced to kill Tony because I don't think he has ever wanted to hurt anyone. But I'm sure as hell not sorry that he did it. There will always be people who are unwilling to stop.
And I recognize that Kenta tried a peaceful method first. He gave X-Hunter what they needed to put Tony in jail, and Tony refused to give up. He was never going to be the kind of person who would simply surrender. To him, these people's lives are property that he is entitled to.
Here is an auto translation of something Garfield said about Kenta at the final episode screening.
"I already knew that Kenta would be similar to me, in that I'm someone who doesn't dare to express my feelings to the people around me, saying very little. So when I got the role, I felt… that it teaches us that as long as we dare to be ourselves and do things that make us happy, that's enough."
We may never know what happened to Kenta after Tony died, but I hope he is able to find his peace. I hope he is able to engage with restorative justice, and I hope he is able to learn what family really should be.
And I hope that someone, anyone, will give him a goddamned hug.
the first shot / the last shot
Thank you, Kenta, from the bottom of my heart, for showing us yours.

Random Thoughts about Love Sick 2024 (EP 4): Love Triangle and Jealousy.
I have to be true to myself and admit that Love Sick 2024 is becoming my favorite series to watch right now. It brings me back to how I felt when I was watching We Are. The story is different, but the feelings are the same. I know there are great series airing right now (Jack & Joker or Monster Next Door are the other ones I really like at the moment), but there is always something that draws me to the tribulations of young love.
So Phun and Noh have both decided that they can't do anything about their feelings for each other and that life goes on. Noh still has to find the money to pay for the drums his club has ordered, but can't afford. Unfortunately, it came earlier than expecting and they still haven't sorted out their financial problem. However, there is always a solution to any problem. Noh has a special power that seems to draw to him the richest boys of the school. He got the help of Earn, another member of the council, who seems to have a soft spot for him and gave him the money to pay for the drums.
The problem is Phun isn't really happy about Earn being around Noh and helping him. He feels evenhurt when he learned about it. I wouldn't want to be Phun right now because you can see how attached he is to Noh, but he can't really do anything. He can't tell people he likes Noh and he can't show it either. He can just endure the jealousy. Noh is also thinking a lot about Phun. He can never stop replaying in his head their conversations and you can see how important it is for him, to get along well with Phun. I wish I could give them the solution for them to be able to live fully their romance. Love shouldn't be so complicated. Paired that with the difficulty of being a teenager and you get the most complicated combo.
If Phun and Noh are the main characters and the main romance, they aren't the only one dealing with complicated feelings. I think we saw two others in this episode. There are so many characters that it gets hard to remember all the names, but I'll try. I think we have Per and Mawin. Per is in the music club (with Noh and Ohm) and Mawin is his "friend". I don't know if they are another couple, but it seems Per is really protective of Mick. There is also Pete who seems to be really caring about Earn and he is experiencing a one-sided love since Earn is more into Noh (right now). I wouldn't mind if the series give us a We Are situation where everyone is queer and happy at the end (Oh! and let Aim be with Li).
I guess the comparison with We Are also comes from the fact that I really like the friendship between Noh and Ohm. They have the same friendship as Peem and Q. They both keep bugging their best friends, but when one of them needs some advice they are there for them. When Noh didn't know how to react when Phun told him he felt like he didn't trust him, he immediately sought advice from Ohm. I appreciate when a series takes the time to show the friendship as well as the romance. It works because I also believe that friendship is as much important as love. It may not be romantic, but it's an important relationship too.
By the end of the episode, it seems to me that Earn and Phun know that the other one wants to be close to Noh and it may sparkle more jealousy. Let's see how the story will go on.

part one | masterlist | part three
Thursday
“Hey, did Syd go out already?” you hear Natalie ask, causing you to pause what you’re doing.
You’re in the middle of laying out the gifts you’ve brought for your friends for the weekend, as a thank you for coming to Savannah to help you find a wedding dress. You’re not looking for anything extravagant – you are eloping at the courthouse after all – but it felt like a good excuse to get your best friends together for the weekend too. While you’ve spent most of your time planning this trip insisting that it’s not a bachelorette party, it’s certainly beginning to feel like one.
“Just because we’re not doing a big wedding thing doesn’t mean we can’t do a pre-wedding girls’ trip,” you’d explained to Liz and Maya over your group FaceTime.
“Hmmm, sounds a bit like a bachelorette party,” Maya had observed with every intent of provoking you.
“It’s not a bachelorette party!” you had vehemently insisted on the call.
“Sounds a little like one to me,” Liz had added, earning an eye roll from you as you murmured something about the two of them always ganging up on you.
So here you are, deciding that, maybe, you should just lean into it.
While Sydney’s gone to the grocery to do the shopping (something she insisted on doing since you’re both making brunch for tomorrow morning) it’s just you and Nat in the house. You could’ve sworn Nat was on the phone earlier – Pete being the every-worrying, doting husband who hasn’t spent a night away from his wife since she got pregnant.
“Hey, you!” you finally greet her, a broad smile spreading across your face as you turn to see your very pregnant almost-sister-in-law. “Uh… yeah she was going to the grocery store for some things. Need me to text her?”
Natalie shakes her head ‘no,’ before stepping into one of the many rooms that fill the airbnb that you have rented for the weekend.
“Watcha got goin’ on over here?” Nat asks curiously, as she takes a few steps towards you.
“Well,” you sigh, placing the neatly folded set of washable silk PJs down on one of the two twin beds that fill the bedroom that Maya and Liz will be sleeping in. “Just because you’re not technically my bridesmaids doesn’t mean that I can’t get you guys gifts, right?”
Sugar snorts, “Huh. That’s funny.”
“Hm?” you hum in response.
“Soooo many things, especially since you won’t just admit this is your version of a bachelorette party but…” she teases you, pausing before she continues with:
“I mostly came in here because I have a gift for you.
“What? You didn’t have to get me a gift,” you start, watching as Nat presents a gift bag stuffed to the brim with tissue paper.
“I know. But just because you refuse to admit that this is a bachelorette party, doesn’t mean I can’t get you a bridal gift,” she answers, taking a seat on one of the beds as she repeats your own reasoning back to you.
“Fair enough,” you chuckle sitting down on the bed as you accept her gift.
Parting the mountain of tissue paper, you pull a neatly folded article of clothing wrapped in more tissue paper. Gently, you slide the fabric out of its sleeve, revealing a silk lace slip nightgown out of the gift bag.
You gasp, examining the soft, delicate material in your hands.
“Nat, this is-, holy shit. It’s stunning,” you marvel, running your fingers over the creme-colored material.
“I saw it and couldn’t help myself,” she smiles proudly, happy to see that you love it.
“It’s perfect,” you whisper, this time moving your fingers over the black lace trim at the hemline.
“I wanted to give it to you before everyone got here,” she explains softly. “Wear it this weekend. Or for the honeymoon. I don’t know. I saw it and… it just felt like you.”
“Thank you,” you smile, your heart warming as you lean over to give her a hug. She squeezes you back, ecstatic that you love her gift.
“Think Carmy’ll be jealous I didn’t get him anything?” she asks, jokingly, her eyes narrowing.
“Oh, this is a gift for him too,” you’re quick to reply with a smirk.
“Ew!” she glares at you, earning a laugh from you as you defend yourself.
You shrug, “You set yourself up with that one, mama.”
You exchange a look, and a laugh, as Sugar playfully rolls her eyes at the thought of her brother doing anything more explicit than what could be in a PG-rated film.
“How ya doin? How’s my soon-to-be-nephew?” you ask, shifting your body so that you’re facing here even more so now as you change the subject.
“I’m alright,” she sighs, leaning back on her hands behind her. “Second trimester’s been a whole lot better than the first but… this whole pregnancy thing? Wow.”
“Yeah, we are in no hurry,” you empathize, adding a little humor to your sentiment.
“Well, from what I hear, it hasn’t stopped either of you from-,” she begins to tease you and now it’s your turn to say:
“Oh my god, Natalie! Ew!”
You roll your eyes this time, no stranger to the fact that you and Carmy’s sex life has started a rumor or two that’s gotten passed around the restaurant staff like wildfire.
She nudges you playfully, earning another laugh from you before the two of you settle into a comfortable silence, sitting side by side.
Natalie takes a beat, carefully choosing what she wants to say to you, especially since heart to hearts weren’t exactly common for her growing up.
“I also came in here to say…” she begins, her voice softening because she really means it. “I am so glad that he met you – Carmy – that you found each other. And I meant it when I said that I couldn’t wait for us to be sisters.”
The memory of the night you both got violently high together before Sugar got pregnant – the night she first called you her sister-in-law – brings the biggest smile to your face as you laugh.
“You’ve changed his life,” she finishes, the deepest of gratitude coloring the words she says.
You think someone should’ve warned you that getting married would bring up so many goddamn feelings, because you’ve been feeling pretty damn nostalgic and emotional lately too.
With watery eyes, you grab Sugar’s hand, giving it a squeeze as you say, “Nat, he changed mine. He keeps… changing mine.” You pause for a moment wondering when, all of a sudden, you’ve gotten this sappy. “I love Carmen… so much. And… I’m so glad that in loving him… it brought us together too.”
She nods in agreement, as she whispers a tearful ‘yeah,’ giving your hand a squeeze in return before releasing it.
“Jesus Christ. When did we become these people?” you chuckle, shaking your head.
“I have no fucking clue but I’m blaming the pregnancy hormones,” Nat laughs with you.
She pauses once more, and it’s as if she can’t help herself, diving into it again because there’s so much more she wants to say.
“You know, I always wanted a sister…” Natalie starts with a disappointed nod of her head. “I always thought… like, maybe things would’ve been different or something. Mikey and Carmy could do no wrong, you know, but me?”
She lets out another sigh, shifting her sitting position in pursuit of something more comfortable.
“I don’t know… I always wondered what it would be like – to have an ally in it all, a partner in crime – because Mom was Mom… and-. Well, you know. But now with the baby coming, I just can’t picture putting a child through that.”
She takes a beat this time, making sure she’s clear on what she’s trying to communicate to you.
“I think what I’m trying to say is, selfishly, I’m so damn glad Carmy swallowed his pride and called you all those years ago.”
You’re grinning from ear to ear as you listen, agreeing with, “Me fucking too, buddy.”
The sound of the front door is an almost-welcomed interruption as you and Nat exchange a look, the both of you coming to the conclusion that it’s probably Sydney, back from the store.
“Helloooooooo!” you both hear Sydney call out in the empty downstairs area of the airbnb.
“We should probably go. See if Sydney needs our help?” Natalie suggests.
“Yeah,” you reply, standing up from where you’re seated on the bed.
“Nat,” you say, offering a hand to help her up.
She takes it, murmuring a thank you before groaning about her feet. You giggle, but this time, you have one last thing you want to say to her.
“Thank you for the gift… and for what you just told me,” you say, before finishing your thought with, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” she replies, a soft smile on her face.
You share a look, and one more moment, before heading downstairs.
“Look who I found!” Sydney squeals, her voice resonating broadly throughout the house.
It’s then that you hear the sounds of luggage being rolled, as Maya goes on about how cute this place is, while Liz, following closely behind exclaims something about how goddamn hot it is outside.
“Oh my god!” you exclaim, leaping over the last few stairs as you crowd both of your New York friends.
It’s an exchange of squeals, how are you’s, how were your trips, and enthusiastic hugs exchanged between old friends.
“Liz, Maya, you remember Natalie, right?” you introduce, as Nat gives both of your friends a small wave.
While Liz and Maya have met Sydney multiple times (including a few trips to New York Sydney’s taken by herself), you know your two best friends have only met Sugar once or twice when visiting you in Chicago.
“Yes, Carmy’s sister!” Liz says, her eyes lighting up with recognition.
“Yes,” Nat nods, confirming the statement.
“Well, come on in! I’ll show you up to your room so you can put your stuff down and whatnot,” you encourage, ushering the both of them upstairs as Natalie asks if Syd needs help unloading the car.
“I can’t believe we’re finally here!” Maya exclaims, excitedly.
“In Savannah… That you two idiots somehow figured it out and are getting married,” Liz continues, adding clarity around the very layered statement.
You laugh, “Listen, you and I both, sister.”
You show both Liz and Maya to their shared room as the three of you catch up about the flight here, shared exclamations about how stoked you are for the weekend, about how much you were all in need of a good vacation anyways. As you watch your best friends set their things down and begin to settle in, it feels surreal.
Like you and Carmy’s last trip to New York, it feels as if your worlds are once again colliding – two sets of friends from two very different chapters of your life as you approach a new one.
Friday
Your not-bachelorette brunch menu goes as follows:
Syd’s famous potato chip omelet, a vanilla bean yogurt with Liz’s favorite homemade granola recipe, made last night before bed, bacon you’re frying up in a cast iron pan that belongs to the stocked rental kitchen, and one of Liz’s favorite mocktails because, yes,
“You’re making us go for a hike?!” Maya exclaims. “In this heat? In this humidity?!”
“I thought you were… on your whole SoulCycle kick,” you’re quick to reply.
“Yeah, because it’s indoors,” she emphasizes with a sigh of defeat.
“Thank god you didn’t get your hair done for this, babe,” Liz teases her friend, earning a ‘seconded’ from Maya.
“Oh my god! I forgot that we both love SouCycle!” Sugar chimes in, simultaneously.
“Add it to the list,” Maya replies, because she and Nat have gotten quite chummy over the last 12 hours.
After ordering pizza last night, Maya and Nat had promptly curled up in a corner of the couch with a glass of wine for Maya, and an non-alcoholic cocktail for Nat, and spent almost two uninterrupted hours of realizing that they had way too much in common to not become instant-besties.
“So let me get this straight. It’s your bachelorette party and-,” Maya begins, straightening up on the barstool that lines the other side of the breakfast bar.
“It’s not a bachelorette party, it’s just a girls’ weekend,” you and Syd say in unison, you more insistent while Syd simply recites the words as that you’ve droned on about again and again.
“And we’re not going out?” Maya asks, unamused by your lack of enthusiasm.
“I wasn’t planning on it,” you shrug, careless for the idea of going out this weekend.
“What about the strippers?!” Maya exclaims, a little louder this time, sending all of you into a fit of giggles.
“What strippers?!” Syd exclaims.
“Listen, I’m not against strippers…” you laugh with a shake of your head. “...but I just wanted this weekend to be about getting my favorite people together and looking for a dress. YOU are the one who called it a bachelorette party.”
“You’ll have to excuse Maya. It’s been a while since she’s had a weekend away from full-time mom duty,” Liz teases her, as the two of you share a knowing look.
“Not to mention full-time work! And full-time wife-ing,” Maya adds insistently. “I’m ready to shake my ass!”
You and Sugar both snort with laughter and Syd snickers again, plating her final omelet.
“And while she’s somehow the first one of us to settle down, she’s also always been the biggest party animal of the both of us,” you continue, picking up where Liz left off.
“See, this is what you have to look forward to,” Syd jokes, directing her comment to Nat. “The both of you.”
“Oh shut up,” she quips back, playfully.
You shrug, before offering to help Syd distribute her stunningly plated omelets to the kitchen table that Liz has already set.
“Tell us what you made today,” you joke, doing your best Padma Lakshmi impression, as if Sydney were a contestant on Top Chef.
Sydney laughs, while the rest of the girls take their seats, standing at the head of the table as she takes your invitation to roleplay a little too seriously:
“So this… is a potato chip omelet with boursin cheese inspired by our very own Natalie Berzatto.”
“You’re amazing,” Natalie coos, because she truly cannot get enough of this omelet.
“This looks incredible,” Maya compliments, admiring the neatly shaped French omelet.
“And the potato chips are fucking genius,” Liz marvels, simultaneously.
“Something I started making at the restaurant just for Nat since, you know, it kinda hits all the cravings. It’s salty. It’s filling. You know you got a little texture going on with the chips. Aaaaand I’m starving so let’s end this Top Chef cosplay right now and eat,” Syd says, earning a laugh and statements of agreement from the rest of you as she rushes to the last empty chair.
You spend the morning enjoying breakfast before ushering everyone out to the car for your hike. Insistent on heading out there before it gets too hot, you decide it’s probably best to go before noon. As you head out to the Skidaway Island State Park trail, the fact that you friends are finally all together in one room begins to hit you. While Nat and Maya have hit it off over their love for SoulCycle, how strange pregnancy cravings are, and their mutual adoration for Maggie Rogers, you smile to yourself while you listen to Sydney and Liz dissect the most recent season of Love Island.
And despite the few yet passionate protestations, the hiking trail really isn’t all that bad. The five of you spend about an hour out there, hanging out a little longer along the boardwalk, before heading back into town for lunch, and then home for showers and some downtime. Tonight’s game plan is to get all dressed up (sort of) then head to Mashama Bailey’s restaurant, The Grey.
You take some time (and a nap) to yourself this afternoon, knowing that everyone else has taken some time to read, catch up a little, or just hang out. As you awaken from your nap, you flip through your phone for a bit, and, you think to yourself, it feels really damn good to slow down.
You decide to call Carmy, Facetime-ing him as you remain snuggled up in the airbnb bed. It takes a few rings before Carmy answers, his hair wild, dressed in his chef whites.
“Hey, babe,” Carmy smiles, as soon as your face appears on his phone screen. “It’s good to hear from you.”
“You too. I’m glad you picked up,” you reply, a lightness in your voice that only comes with vacation-you.
“How’s my girl doing?” he asks you, adoration in his eyes.
You hum happily in response, stretching a little in your bed.
“She’s great. But she misses you,” you answer, soaking in how much you love when he calls you his girl. “The trip’s been great so far, baby. We went for a hike this morning and uh, well, everyone’s really hit it off. Pretty sure Nat and Maya have become best friends now.”
“Uh oh.”
“Oh come on,” you chuckle, snuggling deeper into the duvet. “You know Maya’s always been your biggest fan.”
“Yeah,” he nods softly, because he does know that, for whatever reason, she’s always been his biggest advocate.
“But how are you? How’s Aioli? What am I missing?” you ask your future husband.
“We’re good. And Aioli is still the most spoiled cat in the Greater Chicago area. Not much to report here. Just taking a smoke break before dinner service,” he answers with a shrug.
“What’re you up to?”
“Just waking up from a nap,” you reply with a yawn, your disheveled bedhead more of a turnon then Carmy will admit. “And we’re going to The Grey later.”
“Mashama’s place?”
“Yeah.”
“You gonna get all dressed up?” he asks, his interest piquing.
“Yeah, I think we are,” you reply, the conversation taking a slightly flirtier turn as you add, “Don’t worry. I’ll send pictures.”
With a shy look on his face, Carmy returns with a:
“Oh shit. Well, let me know how it is. The restaurant.”
“I’ll report back,” you assure him. “You know… maybe we can come back here together. Another time.”
Carmy hums in response, barely able to wrap his head around the idea of a vacation. It’s not like you’d never been on one together, but no matter how many steps he takes back, how much he’s learned he’s allowed to (sometimes) slowdown, the unshakeable fear of falling behind hangs over his head. He’s learning, getting better at it, and you’ve helped, but it somehow always still feels a little unsettling at first.
You can see that Carmy’s mind is running a mile a minute, so you decide to cut to the chase as you say:
“I just… wanted to call and see what was up. Tell you I was thinking about you, babe.”
He smiles softly.
“Yeah,” he exhales. “I’m thinking about you too.”
He waits a beat before following up with:
“I’m always thinking about you.”
“I love you, Bear,” you whisper, a smile on your lips.
“I love you too,” he says back, and you swear Apple has installed a filter on FaceTime with how vibrant and blue his eyes are as he looks at you.
The knock at your bedroom door grabs your attention, your eyes shifting immediately to where the door hangs slightly open.
“Hey, I heard you were up,” Sydney says, poking her head in. “Can I come in?”
“Oh my god! Yeah, of course. I’m just on the phone with Carmy. Wanna come say hi?” you encourage, waving her your way.
“Sure!” she grins, quick to hop onto the bed, settling down right next to where you lay.
“Great. It’s like you never left Chicago,” Carmy groans dryly, as Sydney snuggles in.
“Whatever. You miss us,” Sydney shoots back with a playful eye roll.
Carmy’s become no stranger to getting kicked out of his own bed when Sydney comes over – you and her taking it over to watch a movie or giggle while watching TikTok videos for hours on end. Most days he’s so glad that you found a friend in each other, while other days, he’d very much like his bed back.
“Well, babe. I won’t keep you. I’ll see you Sunday?” Carmy asks, more than happy to let you spend time with your friends.
“See ya Sunday, honey,” you reply before ending the call.
You toss your phone on your bed with a sigh as Sydney fake vomits at your sickeningly sweet goodbye.
“Did you nap?” she asks you.
“Dude I passed the fuck out,” you reply, enthusiastically.
“I don’t know how you do it. Like, I think I’ve seen you sleep in…” she starts, trying to pull together a rough guesstimate in her head of how many times she’s seen you nap in a public place. “... more places than I can count.”
“OH! I have not forgotten about your little… photo album,” you remind her, in reference to the photo collection of you sleeping that she has of you. “I’m begging you to release this photo album AT our wedding brunch.”
And you’re only half-joking about it.
“Did you get a nap in?”
“Nah.”
You take another breath as you and Sydney lay next to each other, settling into a comfortable quiet as you reflect on the moment you had with Sugar yesterday, suddenly consumed with an immense amount of gratitude for her and Sydney’s presence in your life.
“Shit…” you exhale.
“What’s up?” Sydney asks you, turning her head to look over at you this time.
“Somebody should’ve warned me that getting married would like… bring up all these extra feelings about… literally everything,” you admit, your eyes fixed to the patterns on the popcorn ceiling above you.
“Oh god,” she groans. “Don’t tell me you’re pregnant.”
“God no!” you snort, reassuring her that you just finished your period.
You and Sydney exchange another laugh, and a look of mutual affection, before returning your gazes back to the ceiling.
“You wanna… talk about it?” Sydney asks, carefully.
It’s not that you and Sydney don’t do the heavy stuff together, but she’s become one of your best friend because she makes you laugh harder than anyone ever has, so it always feels different – foreign in a way – when you have these moments together.
Your friendship with Syd is lighter. It’s laugh until your abs hurt kind of lighter.
But you know she’s here for all the rest of it too.
“Uh… sure,” you answer, as you share what’s on your mind. “I’ve just been so nostalgic lately. Just thinking about… you know… me and Carmy’s relationship. The life I’ve built with him. You guys….”
“Ew,” she jokes, her face twisting into an expression of repulsion.
“I know,” you groan, unable to stifle the life that escapes your lips.
“Not to get all, you know, emotional or anything,” Sydney starts, shrugging it off like it’s no big deal.
“But like… I wanted to work with Carmy, you know? Which is why I came to The Beef. And… It was a lot.” She pauses, thinking about what she wants to say next as you nod along because you know it was a lot. “I wanted to learn from him and… I wanted to be somewhere that I could make an impact – where I could make something good.”
And in the spirit of being sappy and nostalgic Syd continues.
“And… I never thought, like, in a million years… that on top of building a restaurant… I’d meet you. You’re like… one of my best friends.”
“Woahhhh,” you tease her, pretending to be surprised.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“I know.”
You both take a beat, knowing that you’re both using humor to deflect from the moment of vulnerability that you’re sharing.
“Syd?”
“Hmm?”
“You’re one of my best friends too.”
Saturday
“This isn’t me. I mean… none of this… is me,” you say to yourself, examining your reflection in the mirror. “I mean. We’re getting married at the courthouse, you know?!”
Maya had booked you an appointment at one of those high end bridal boutiques where they make a custom sign for you and serve champagne, and while it was more than a lovely gesture, even the least-fancy dresses here still don’t feel right.
“I figured as much but thought we’d give it a shot,” Maya sighs, disappointedly, as Syd and Nat exchange glances.
“If it helps, your tits look great,” Liz suggests, earning a laugh from you because, she’s not wrong and it may be the highlight of this dress stop.
A mischievous smile spreads across your lips as you say:
“C’mon. I have an idea!”
It’s those five words that lead you to the most ridiculous bridal consignment shop with the floofiest gowns you’ve seen all day. Deciding that you should have a little more fun with today, you use the fact that you’re the bride and it’s your weekend to convince your friends that they have to try the most extravagant and silly dresses on with you.
“Oh my god! Well we’re going to make beautiful brides,” Maya gasps facetiously, as she steps out of the fitting room in what can only be looked at as a ball gown.
“I’m pretty sure this thing has a built-in petticoat,” Liz adds, spinning around in the dress she’s tried on, something that looks like it should be what one milks cows in.
“I’m SO sending this to Patrick,” you laugh, snapping photo after photo on your phone while Nat cackles along with you. “I think you guys are going to have to get married again just so you can wear this dress.”
Before you know it, Sydney is pushing you into a dressing room with another dress to try on, promising you that she’ll try something on this time too. It takes way too long to put on the ball of taffeta, and Sugar has to come in to help figure out what goes where, before you emerge once again, like a cotton ball of a bride.
“Well, I think this is the one,” you joke, staring at your reflection in the mirror.
“And we can’t forget thiiiiiis,” Maya says in a sing-song voice, adding a hand beaded veil to your head this time.
“Wait, this is actually really pretty,” Nat says, in reference to the veil.
You agree with her, as Maya slips away to grab a few more dresses from out front, before turning your attention to the still-closed dressing room that Syd is hiding in.
“Sydney Adamu. Get your ass out here!” you holler, just as she makes her dramatic entrance, pulling back the curtain to the fitting room.
“Oh my god!” you gasp, the minute you see her in the beaded, fitted white dress. Aside from the mermaid tail-like hem, the fitted bodice fits her like a glove. “Ummm… this is hot!”
“Excuse me?!” Nat squeals as Liz simultaneously adds, “Okay, miss thing! Give us a walk! Give us a spin.”
“You guys are out of control,” Sydney says, gesturing towards the three of you, even though she knows you’re right.
She looks phenomenal.
“Okay, okay. Go try these on. I think I finally found some good ones,” Maya encourages. And before you can even protest, she’s handing you a few hangers worth of white dresses and shoving you into a dressing room while Syd continues to strut around the fitting room area.
You smile to yourself, listening to your friends giggle and squeal over the silly dresses, while you hang up the few that Maya’s picked out for you. One in particular catches your eye: a slip-like silhouette with a high halter-like neckline that cuts low in the back. You run your fingers over the smooth material and decide to try this one on first.
The dress fits a little big, and the hemline is a little long, but it’s nothing you can’t take to a tailor. You pinch the fabric, picturing what it would look like fitting a little closer to your body as you shout:
“Guys!!”
“What? Did we do the impossible? You find something you actually like?” Sydney teases you, as you pull the curtain back.
“Um… well it needs to be taken in some. And hemmed. But… yeah,” you reply, the reactions immediate on your friend’s faces as soon as they see you.
Maya gasps, while Liz’s jaw drops. Tears well in Nat’s eyes while Syd rubs a few soothing circles on Nat’s upper back.
“Holy shit,” Liz says.
“We did the impossible,” Maya adds, awestruck. “We actually found something that you, the anti-bride, actually like.”
“Oh sweetheart, you look so, so beautiful,” Nat whispers, so overwhelmed with emotion as she thinks of you and Carmy. And because this is so not any of you, Sugar can’t help herself, instantly deflecting with a dry, “God, I can’t believe you haven’t left his ass,” as the five of you burst into another fit of giggles.
As the laughter subsides, and the reality that you’re going to marry the love of your life sets in, you stare back at yourself in the mirror once more, the words falling out of your mouth.
“Yeah. I… think this is it.”
--------------------------------------------
Crowded around the dinner table, the five of you work through what seems like a never-ending amount of Chinese takeout, as you wonder to yourself who let Liz over-order when you’re all leaving tomorrow morning. You sit next to Sydney, one of her knees tucked into her chest as she listens to all the drama from Liz’s last kitchen job.
“Shit,” Sydney commiserates. “When do you just say ‘fuck it’ and start your own spot?”
“Uh… when I marry rich and don’t have to worry about the business of it all?” Liz replies, earning an ‘amen’ from Nat and a laugh from you.
“I always knew,” Maya says, a sure smile on her face as she changes the subject.
“What?” you ask her, quizzically.
“I always knew that you and Carmy would end up together,” she replies with a certain amount of aplomb that baffles you.
It’s a simultaneous “How could you know?” from Liz and “How could you know that?” from Sydney, and an “I didn’t even know!” from you, as Nat exclaims a skeptical, “My brother?!”
“I knew! Because…” she declares insistently.
“I saw the way that Carmen looked at you. How he always looked at you. Even when you thought you were just friends. Even when you guys banged and thought you fucked it all up. And especially when he finally got over himself and invited you to Chicago.”
It’s a strange feeling, that one of your best friends in the whole wide world could see something that you, for a long time, could barely understand yourself, and it reminds you of the magnitude of you and Carmy’s love story.
“That was really beautiful,” Sydney admits, so casually that you have to laugh.
“You always were his biggest champion,” you say, earning a confident nod from Maya.
“Hey, remember when he was so nervous to even talk to you that he spilled your drink all over you?” Liz brings up, almost jokingly as you all burst out into laughter.
“You were soooooo mad.”
“So mad!” you agree passionately.
“Poor guy didn’t know what he was doing,” Liz chuckles.
“What an asshole,” Nat adds, as she and Sydney exchange a knowing look.
“Well. I will cheers to that,” you announce, even though you know, for all the shit you give him, he is and always will be the love of your life.
“To our last night here in Savannah. And you, our best friend, in all of her anti-bride glory who got us all here this weekend. And to Carmy, for loving our girl. Our king and queen of (not-so-much-anymore) denial,” Maya toasts, holding up her glass.
You cheers with your friends, exchanging laughs and quips as your glasses clink. You look around the table, and it’s not just the wine you’re drinking that brings a warmth to your cheeks. There’s Liz and Maya, the friends that loved you through your life before Carmy, through hating him, and eventually, through falling in love with him. And then there’s Nat and Syd, the two women who, had you and Carmy not taken a chance on each other, you never would’ve met. Never would’ve gotten to know. Never would’ve gotten to love.
You’re starting to understand this whole bachelorette party thing. You may not have bridesmaids, or all of the bells and whistles that come with having a big ceremony, but the love that you have in your life is bigger than just romantic love.
It’s in this room right now, a living, breathing thing that fills the air and warms you from the inside out.
It’s palpable, it’s real, and most importantly, it’s yours.

Summary: Going home.
Early Morning Delights | 1,122 | CaptainStilinski
Summary: The early morning sun was shining through the window, alighting the skin of Maverick's back with a pleasant warmth, but it wasn't what rouses him from his sleep. Mav kept his eyes closed, letting himself drift in that hazy place between sleep and wakefulness. He was warm and comfortable and- ah, that's what woke him. Mav smiles sleepily as he feels Ice pepper kisses along his bare shoulders.
i know who you are (so why don't we start again) | 1,210 | ropememory
Summary: “Ran your mouth a lot today, Mitchell,” Ice says, words as casual as his strokes. “Not one of your better qualities.” Maverick’s grin is the only thing that’s sincere when he replies, eyes flashing with a challenge he knows will be met. “Sorry.”
How To Quiet Your Wingman | 1,224 | CaptainStilinski
Summary: Ice hears Maverick say his name, but he hasn’t been following the conversation so he has no idea what it was said in reference to. Regardless, something in Ice has finally had enough today. He whips around, taking the two short strides it takes to cross the small room and clasps a hand over Maverick’s mouth, “do you ever shut up Mitchell?”
Taking Silver | 1,275 | thecarlysutra / @icemankazansky
Summary: Maverick had never been big on studying, especially when it came to things in the bedroom, but he definitely wasn’t going to let Iceman think he was an authority on something just because he’d realized he liked guys sooner.
Please see below for more recommendations!
International Delivery | 1,332 | Saturn / @icemav86
Summary: When Ice has to travel for work, Mav surprises him with a gift to help him feel closer to home.
Come and Put Your Name On It | 1,474 | Saturn / @icemav86
Summary: He pushed the fingers back past Mav’s entrance. “Baby, you want another finger?” Ice had to shut his eyes at the image of pressing another digit inside the tight heat of Mav’s body, of watching Mav take more. In the end, Mav wants more than just another finger. He wants Ice's whole hand.
does my ring burn your finger? | 1,485 | themodernmerlin
Summary: “You better not lose that,” Tom teases, pressing a gentle kiss to Pete’s neck, and carefully slipping the ring onto his partner’s finger. “It’s my good luck charm.”
never let you go | 1,459 | lookforanewangle / @lookforanewangle
Summary: “Guh, fuck I’m so sore,” he slurs, lying stiff beneath the sheets, eyes clenched shut tightly against the throbbing of his limbs. “That’s what you get for ejecting at Mach 10 out of an exploding plane,” Ice murmurs, voice grumbly from sleep, “and then ejecting again out of another exploding plane within the span of three weeks. And that’s not even counting all the Gs you’ve pulled during that same time period.”
A Pocket Full of Soul | 1,525 | Saturn / @icemav86
Summary: It takes a near miss for Iceman to realize that maybe this thing with Maverick was more than just blowing off steam.
Talk To Me Of Lightning | 1,687 | Pink_and_Velvet
Summary: Maverick takes off in a huff and Iceman is on his tail, at a stupidly reckless speed. “Were you trying to kill yourself on that thing? The hell with all this reckless bullshit, Mitchell. You’re not just a threat to yourself, you’re a goddamn hazard to us all.”
Now Use Both Hands (Oh No, Don't Close Your Eyes) | 1,692 | thecarlysutra / @icemankazansky

dream a little (wet) dream of me | 1,698 | lightsabersandpens
Summary: “I had a sex dream about you.” Maverick says in a rush. Immediately, his face flushes red, and he wishes the boat would capsize. Ice blinks once. Twice. His own face flushes a delicious shade of pink. “You…had a dream about me?” Ice asks softly. Maverick nods. “I’m sorry. That’s really weird of me to say-“ “No! No it’s - not weird.” Ice cuts him off. His hand stays steady on Mavericks knee. “What were…what were we doing? In your dream?”
I'll pull you up and push you right | 1,794 | Saturn / @icemav86

Ride It Out | 1,818 | thecarlysutra / @icemankazansky
Summary: Maverick and Ice had been messing around for weeks, but they hadn't had sex sex yet.
once you get a taste for it (you will need it) | 1,820 | ropememory
Summary: “Your rope tying skills would make an RDC proud,” Maverick says, glancing up at where Ice is carefully looping knots on his arms, tight enough that Maverick can’t easily get out, but with enough give they won’t have to worry about seeking out medical attention when there’s an inevitable struggle. Ice inspects the utilitarian ties, tests them to make sure he’s satisfied, before glancing down at Maverick. “Took a whole class on it at Annapolis,” Ice murmurs, “Restraining Your Wingman 101, was quite the hit after hours.”
Bucket List | 1,993 | Saturn / @icemav86
Summary: Ice and Mav have a long-standing, well curated bucket list of places they'd like to have sex. Ice's recent promotion to Admiral gives them the chance to check one place off the list: The White House.

Tangled Up In You | 3,126 | CaptainStilinski
Summary: Mav stands to the side, arms crossed in frustration as he watches Ice, standing in the tub, fiddle with the damned thing, his own look of frustration peaking through. They were both trained to handle multi-million dollar machines and yet getting this showerhead to properly connect to Mav's shower was stumping them both. Mav sighed and uncrossed his arms, taking a step forward, “here let me try again Ice-” “No no, I think I got it…” Ice gave a sharp tug on the offending piece of equipment. CRACK
what a situation (a fella's in) | 3,341 | ropememory
Summary: There’s lots of answers Maverick could give–the idea’s hot, he wants to try it, why the hell not– but none of those are going to get Ice to agree, won’t help Ice understand the appeal. Shrugging, Maverick goes with a reason he fully expects to work. “I trust you.” Maverick would like to think Ice knows that by now, because he trusts Ice up in the air, trusts Ice enough with a relationship they have to keep secret–why wouldn’t he trust Ice with something like this, too?

(Just Like) Starting Over | 4,088 | Brenda / @brendaonao3
Summary: "Well?" Mav asks, after an awkward minute that feels like it lastedten. "You said you wanted to talk." Shit, this is harder than he'd expected. Mav's temper is usually a flash fire — quick to ignite, even quicker to burn out. He's not one to hold a grudge or go for the silent treatment. That had always been Tom's job. Well, it serves him right if the tables are turned. "I've missed you," Tom finally mutters, pressing his nails into his hands to keep himself from bolting for the car. He's got to start somewhere.
some invisible string tying you to me | 4,336 | quantumoddity / @mollymauk-teafleak
Summary: Maverick isn't used to being surprised by his wingman. But tonight, Ice asks him something that he's never asked before. And Maverick thinks he knows why.
further on the edge (hotter the intensity) | 4,433 | vinylflowers
Summary: The idea of being denied an orgasm wasn’t exactly appealing to Ice on its own, and he had really never wanted to explore it. But the idea of Maverick spread out on his bed, fingers clutching the sheets, crying and gasping and begging- Yeah, Ice could get behind that.
i like the sound of that | 4,470 | redwithlove
Summary: Ice comes across as stuck-up; he struts around with a stick up his ass, assured of his place as the top dog. There have been enough times where Maverick has butted heads with him and thought about sticking something else up his ass. And now that’s actually happening. Quite literally. Huh. Interesting how things play out.
you know that i caught it bad, boy | 4,931 | quantumoddity / @mollymauk-teafleak
Summary: Maverick and Iceman have, against all odds, kind of got things figured out. They're both instructors at Top Gun, spending their days bugging the hell out of each other and spending their nights loving each other. But it's the holidays and holidays mean family visits. Which means Maverick has to stay away from his boyfriend for a whole week. That goes predictably.
got me to blame | 4,946 | susiecarter / @susiecarter
Summary: For a second, getting in Sundown's face on the tarmac, it probably showed anyway. That he was already over the edge, clinging by his fingernails. That he needed something nobody was giving him. He hoped dimly for a minute that Sundown might shove him off, shove him off or even hit him. He wanted to be hit. He wanted to bleed. It wasn't going to be as much as Goose had bled. But it would be something. But Sundown didn't do it. He let Maverick walk away whole. Just like Viper, just like Charlie. Just like Carole. Just like the board of inquiry. Then, in the locker room after, there was Iceman.
Pulse | 6,298 | DeeEffGee
Summary: "It's not that you're dangerous, Maverick. It's that you have all the self control of a fucking child." Top Gun Kink Meme fill- Spanking.
Moving In Slow Motion | 7,516 | boasamishipper / @boasamishipper
Summary: Maverick never thought he’d actually like the nitty gritty details of working at TOPGUN — the lesson plans, the tests, the endless paperwork — but it grows on him over time. Viper’s even taken to giving Maverick these approving glances when he thinks Maverick’s not looking. He’s got a good thing going here. A year after that, in walks Iceman Kazansky, cool as can be, and Maverick starts to think that he might have a problem.
What You Don’t Know | 7,756 | chemm80
Summary: Maverick finds Iceman handcuffed to his bed. He has a hard time getting over it.
The Auction | 7,921 | ao3 / aelibia / @topgunreacts
Summary: There’s a raging boner in my pants tonight.
time to let go | 8,659 | AortaArgent / @aortaargent
Summary: Shifting on the seat, Maverick puts one hand to the top of his jeans and flicks the button open, passing his thumb over the hard metal edge and toying with his zipper idly. The boxers he’s wearing were a gift from Ice (and for Ice), ones with black mesh up the sides. Riding low on his hips, shimmery black waistband wide and elastic enough for him to tuck his thumb into it and make a good show of snapping it against his lower belly. Ice tilts the bottle up - eyes never leaving Mav’s open jeans - and takes a long drink before wiping his mouth with his thumb. “You’re gonna have to ask me if you want this to go anywhere, baby.”
if you're not asking (then i'm not telling) | 9,096 | StoriesofmyLife
Summary: Maverick should be paying attention to lecture, he knows this, but he can't seem to stop staring at Ice chewing on his pen cap. It shouldn't be as distracting as it was, but it is and Maverick can't help but wonder what those lips feel like.
Can It Be About Us | 11,345| Saturn / @icemav86
Summary: Is it that Mav and Ice need more privacy or just that they need to make better choices about when they get their hands on each other?
no brighter diamond | 12,404 | qin_ling / @qin-ling
Summary: Maverick is a star blazing across the sky, and Iceman would follow him to the ends of the earth.
The Next Step | 21,004 | thedevilchicken
Summary: When he takes a job as an instructor, Maverick has issues to deal with. Ice shouldn't be the one to help him.
Blackberry Pie | 21,181 | aelibia / @topgunreacts
Summary: After the Layton, Maverick returned to TOPGUN. Two weeks later, so did Ice.
the further on the edge, the hotter the intensity | 24,363 | StoriesofmyLife
Summary: Maverick wonders if it's always going to be like this--this burning want under his skin, the total awareness his body seems to have of Ice. The surge of want that always seems to grip him, even at the most inappropriate of times. He wonders if he's ever going to be able to be around Ice and function like a human being. Thankfully, Ice seems to have the same problem as Maverick.

Continuing the series Miles and Gwen plague my thoughts, Morales-Stacy family version 😃
I personally like the original idea of the Earth-8 comic but I'll improve it with my touch.
First, I love that Miles and Gwen share last names. It's important both because it shows that Miles and Gwen are still their individual people, but they also love sharing each other's lives and that hyphenating shows that.
Their eldest daughter is not called Charlotte, but Elena. Elena Rio Morales-Stacy. In honor of her two grandmothers, since Elena is the Latin spelling of Helen, and Rio is kind of obvious, in addition to being a name that means light, which it would be for Miles and Gwen.
As for Max, his name is Aaron George Jefferson Morales-Stacy. Because there was no way Miles would stop honoring the most important men in his life, and Gwen would do it for her father too. Not to mention that the meaning of strong would be very appropriate.
Elena is 4 years older than Aaron and they would both have a good relationship with each other, despite normal sibling tensions. You know, sharing things, telling on each other, fighting on the roof of the house and breaking a chandelier once…
They would easily be the most beautiful children you would ever see in your life, I mean… have you looked at Miles and Gwen? The genes these kids inherited are insane! Beauty runs in the family blood.
I like to think that they are both a perfect balance of Miles and Gwen, and that Elena inherited Gwen's eyes while Aaron inherited Miles's. They would have curly hair and their skin tone would be more similar to Rio's.
To Rio's pride, btw, the two are bilingual, in addition to being well involved in the cultures of both parents. When Gwen became pregnant for the first time, she and Miles had a serious conversation about how they would raise their children, so both Elena and Aaron were raised in a Spanish-only household until they went to school. As Gwen at this point already spoke fluent Spanish, it wasn't a problem. Rio and Jeff also greatly influenced Elena and Aaron's early years of creation. You need to be proud of your roots after all!
Elena and Aaron, like their parents, would have a spider bond with each other, this being fraternal rather than the parents' obviously romantic one. Which would make them both very protective of each other, always letting them know that one is in danger. However, being her mother's daughter, Elena is the more protective of the two.
And this happens because Elena has a ridiculously refined and sensitive spider sense, something that Gwen suspects comes from herself, since from the films, it seems that Gwen has a spider sense beyond the ordinary and Elena would inherit it.
Aaron loves dancing. He especially likes breakdance and hip-hop, although he also knows salsa and ballet, being a popular dancer in the neighborhood where the family lives. Sometimes he participates in school competitions and the whole family enjoys watching. The Morales-Stacys are the best hypemans you will ever meet.
Elena is an excellent singer and is part of a band! Gwen and the Mary Janes sometimes like to go to rehearsals, and when they do a show, the whole family goes to watch. Elena also likes to sing in karaoke and at home.
Unlike Miles and Gwen, and just like Mayday, Elena and Aaron were born with spider powers. Therefore, Peter helped and continues to help a lot in their creation, having his own share of experience. He's Uncle Pete to them.
Elena and Aaron have a lot of uncles and aunts in general. Hobbie teaches them the importance of thinking for oneself and questioning absolutism (something both Miles and Gwen are grateful for), Pavitr brings sweets, practices dancing with Aaron, and the two of them plus Elena plan to break into the British museum. Gayatri also visits sometimes, helping Elena with her stage presence, as she is a model after all.
Noir and Ham always tell stories about their dimensions and this entertains the brothers a lot. Margo and Peni visit a lot too, as they and Gwen have game nights every Wednesday, as well as teaching lots of technological tricks.
Miles G. is a funny case in itself. Since I think he and Miles are going to become like brothers in Beyond, he definitely wanted to be present in the lives of his honorary nephews, and as soon as both Elena and Aaron were a year old, he started visiting them… and both of them cases, kids think he is their father and then confused because "daddy has a twin now?" when the two are together.
Well, that's what came to my mind. Thank you and good morning!

Ever since your boys went off to Top Gun, you couldn’t wait to see them. So, when family week rolled around, you, along with Carole and Bradley, boarded the plane together. Carole was ecstatic to have her sister-in-law joining her on the flight. It gave her someone to watch Bradley while she snuck in a few hours of shut-eye. You couldn’t wait to see your big brother. However, Goose wasn’t the only one you were excited to see. For the past three years, you and Maverick had been dating.
Throughout their time in Fighter Town, you had heard all about your boyfriend’s rivalry with Iceman. You remembered him from Goose’s time at the academy. You found that he was a lovely person. So lovely, in fact, that you went out with him for the entire time Goose was at the academy. You wouldn’t put his competitive side past him. Even if Maverick was stretching the truth just a little bit. You never imagined that the competition between them would escalate to where it was now. As far as you had been told, it was a healthy, safe competition. Now, however, you wanted to smack both Iceman and your boyfriend upside the head.
Your older brother was the most important person in your life. He had practically raised you. You could vividly remember crying for weeks when he left home for the academy. When Maverick and Goose had first been paired together, you had sat the rebellious pilot down and told him that while Goose trusted him, you weren’t so convinced. In that moment, Maverick promised you that your brother would always return safely to his family. Three months later, Mav took you out on your first date.
Maverick had quickly gained your trust. You soon came to learn that you and your brother were the only family that he had. That only helped to prove the fact that Maverick would sacrifice himself in a heartbeat for either of you. For that, you were immensely grateful.
Given their job, you understood that there was a large risk factor. However, you knew how good of a pilot your boyfriend was. If he had any control over the situation, everything would turn out okay. Even though you trusted him, you knew that sometimes, he didn’t trust himself. When he was up in the air, it was like he was flying against a ghost. You knew exactly whose ghost that was.
Mav had always thought that he was a disappointment, purely because he was his father's son. He had always been told that he would never amount to anything, all because of his last name. You saw how hard he worked to prove them wrong. That was one of the things you loved about him. No matter how many times he got pushed down, he always got back up.
This time, however, was shaping up to be very different than the others. This time, there was no going back.
Before they left for Top Gun, you had told Maverick about your ex. After all, you were pretty sure that he would be there as well. Oh, how right you were. It was just your luck that the two of them would end up going head-to-head for first place. At the beginning, you were thrilled with the idea of Mav and Goose getting to go to Top Gun. Now, you would give anything to keep them from ever getting a chance.
Only a few days after you had arrived for family week, there was a tragic accident. Maverick and Ice were tied for first and you knew that both of them would do whatever they could to win. What you didn’t know was that ‘whatever they could’ would come with a grave cost.
When you had first heard the news, you collapsed. You had lost your brother. The one piece of your family you had left and he was gone. Unsurprisingly, Maverick had turned into a mess. Goose was like the brother that he never had. Regardless of whose fault it was technically, Maverick would never stop blaming himself. Needless to say, Mav wasn’t handling the situation very well. Even Carole seemed to be having a better time coping with the tragic loss of her husband.
While a large part of you felt so sorry for your boyfriend, the other part wished he would open his eyes. He wasn’t the only person that lost somebody. But he was sure acting like he was. Carole had lost a husband. Bradley had lost a father. You had lost a brother. And yet none of that seemed to matter to your grieving boyfriend. To him, he was the only person that lost Goose. He began drinking his troubles away, not a single thought as to what all of this was doing to you.
Now, you were sobbing in the bedroom you shared with Maverick. He hadn’t been at the past few days of training, spending all of his time in the bar. With your boyfriend off god-knows-where, you couldn’t help but miss everything that the two of you used to have. Late nights spent cuddled up on that old ratty couch, Mav whispering sweet nothings in your ear the whole time flooded your mind as you continued to sob.
Goose wasn’t just your boyfriend, he was your best friend. A few days after the accident, the pain had worn off. Now, all you felt was numb. While Maverick had drinking, you had nothing. You had nothing to make that feeling go away. Through your tears, you finally came to a horrible realization. Your loving boyfriend was gone. He died in the same accident that your brother did.
You couldn’t stay with him anymore. Not if it was going to be like this. Was Maverick hurting? Of course he was. But were you also hurting? Yes. In the aftermath of the accident, you had assured Maverick again and again that you were there for him. That you would be the shoulder he could lean on should he need somebody. Instead, he had turned to drinking, leaving you with no shoulder at all.
Sniffling, you wiped your nose on the back of your hand and stood up from the bed on shaky legs. You hadn’t left the bed all day. Picking up the phone, you tried to call the bar where you figured Maverick was. When the bartender picked up and tried to hand the phone to Mav, your boyfriend refused to talk to you. The phone dropped out of your hand as you stared straight ahead. That was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Numbly, you began packing your bags. You had very few clothes, but you threw all of them into a bag with little to no order. Soon enough, your bags were packed and you were slamming the door of Maverick’s base housing. Time seemed to fly as you called a taxi to the airport and bought a ticket home. Sure, Carole and Bradley were still here, but you had no reason to stay. You would have loved to stay for Maverick’s graduation. However, you just couldn’t bring yourself to wait around for someone that was long gone.
