Kurt: They are angels symbols passed to humanity by the Archangel Gabrieal mein Freund I add one form every sin
Wyv going Overprotective Southern mom mode: oh Sweetheart... That's not healthy you shouldn't hurt yourself because you did something wrong
Kurt: Ah but that is how I was raised in the circus they said the only way God would forgive me is if I let them do that
Wyv: Sweetheart I get it everyone does religion differently but, Kurt whoever told you to do that isn't truly following the Bible your God has never said to do that you just pray for forgiveness and go on with your day...
Kurt: what..?

this is (hopefully) gonna be my one post about the live action because I do not want to hear or think about it. also if you hold or have expressed any of the opinions here that's totally cool and fine, this is in no way personal and I'm still happy for you if you can enjoy it!
This thing does not need to exist. Words cannot describe how much I do not care. The color palettes, shots, sets, costumes, etc. so far seem so close to the original that it makes me question why they would even bother. If you're going to do live action, there should at least be a PRETENSE that you have something to add by doing so. I hate Disney live action remakes as much as the next guy, but at least they tend to look like what the movie would look like if it were live action, y'know? And if you can't do that, that's maybe a good sign that the thing was in the medium it was in for a reason. I saw someone say that it looks like an insurance commercial and I can't stop thinking about that. Everything that looked cold and misty and atmospheric in the original looks sad and like it's filmed on a stage.
I saw someone say that we should at least be grateful that we're getting new content for the franchise and hoping the lore would be expanded. I could maybe, maybe even see that perspective too IF HTTYD WASN'T ALREADY AN EXTREMELY EXTENSIVE AND FLESHED OUT WORLD. We have a theatrically released TRILOGY. We have three pretty solid TV shows with the same characters totalling EIGHT SEASONS and 118 EPISODES. We have multiple video games, multiple shorts, and two more adjacent TV shows. And if that's not enough dragons for you, then there are the twelve books that it was based on, which are pretty different but just as beautiful and special.
I will not be happy with a live action remake. I was never going to be. There does not need to be more. And I especially do not want a washed out shot for shot regurgitation of a perfectly good movie spat out in my lap when I could literally just be watching that movie. No thank you. I'm done hearing about the thing.
And most importantly, I think the thing that really gets me about the discussion around live action remakes is when people are desperately reaching for good things to say about them or acting like "oh, well, you gotta hand it to them for this one aspect at least." You. Do. Not. You don't. I saw this a lot with the ATLA live action too, and while it's totally okay if you enjoy it or you just like seeing something in live action, you do not have to look for things to like. You SHOULDN'T have to look for things to like. We deserve better, and we do not have to waste our precious minutes on earth being grateful or looking for positives in a watery forgettable useless piece of media when there are so many good and beautiful things in the world.
#pickle pontificates#httyd#httyd live action#httyd salt#<- tagging so folks can filter#yeah that's my half baked rant and I'm done talking about it now.#will follow my own advice and go think about things that actually enrich my life

7 Worst Dragon Ball Characters (objective)
Honorable mention, Master Roshi. So here's the deal, I actually like Roshi. I actually like Roshi A LOT when he's being the offbeat martial arts master, but for the most part he's a serial sex offender, and the anime adds even more sexual assault for lulz.
Like a bad relationship, I try to remember the good times
Oolong
So y'know how I basically said there were aspects to Roshi's personality I really enjoyed, which is why he's not on the list proper? That's not the case with Oolong. There are definitely aspects to Oolong I like -- I like Piggy from Journey to the West and I think it's hilarious that Toriyama dressed him (and Mai, for some reason) like Chairman Mao. I also have to credit him with saving the world, although idk how Pilaf would have actually held onto his world empire with people like Goku around. Regardless, his character is another vehicle for sexual assault humor.
And yes, the English dub fucked up and made him sound like an adult. The joke is that he's a child that acts like a perverted adult, but because he's a child, he's just kidnapping girls to clean his house and be his mom, basically (Bulma pretty much even adopts him). Sexual assault humor is still sexual assault humor, though, so Oolong sucks
Bacterian
He's just gross. I really hate this dude
Garlic Jr.
Who stans a poser? In DBZ Abridged, they rip on Lord Slug for being EXACTLY King Piccolo, but the only difference between Slug and Garlic Jr. is that Lord Slug knew his place well enough to stay out of the anime.
Lemme start tho with the things I actually like about this guy. 1) he's a demon, I think. Toriyama introduced the concept with King Piccolo, backtracked, then reintroduced it with Dabura. Dragon Ball Xeno Heroes or w/e later realized this was free real estate and expanded on the idea to the point of nausea, but until then, Garlic and his henchmen and Dabura were your only demons, if that's something you found dope.
Other than this, Garlic Jr. steals Pilaf's design, but instead of remaining a lil' gremlin, he goes the filler route and beefs up like a Broly. He has a past connection with Kami like King Piccolo and successfully uses the Dragon Balls like King Piccolo. He then uses the Jr. like Piccolo. Get your own fucking thing. ALL YOU HAVE IS BEING THE SON OF KAMI'S RIVAL
And what really gets me is that he would be an okay filler villain if he wasn't just a chimera of better, actually canon characters, but as he is, the only things I like about his movie and arc have nothing to do with him.
Fwiw this is the only character on this list that's filler/not a part of Toriyama's original run. If this included GT, then there would be nothing but GT. As far as Super goes, I like the characters or at least their concepts (looking at you Zamasu), and the shit part is in the execution.
Spopovich
He and Yamu serve to showcase Babidi's power of mind control, but in doing so we're forced to witness the most pointlessly brutal, one-sided beatdown in all of Dragon Ball. I think the anime even devoted an entire episode to this ffs
We later learn that you have to already be a prat to fall under Babidi's powers, so there's nothing even tragic about his brainwashing and ultimate demise. He sucked before, he sucks now, he's a bad character.
Idasam
First off, it really doesn't make sense that a kid's division was introduced, does it? Most of the top fighters in the World Martial Arts Tournament were underage
Second, look how cute that girl in the top right is
Ok ok. As I made this list I began to realize there weren't a lot of characters in Dragon Ball that I actually hated. Some I definitely liked less than others, but few were so bad that I would remove them if I could. This chick is definitely one of them tho.
The Anti-Chi-Chi, Idasam raised two little brats that ig she loves and supports, which is the only thing she has that going for her. Besides that, she's mean to Bulma and even tried to physically assault her until the Mother of our Saviour Chi-Chi stepped in
Pirate Robot
Admit it, you thought he was filler. He looks like Third Form Frieza fucked some Saiyan armor. I've seen people try to salvage pirate robot by saying he's Android 2, but no, he's not, General Blue had no idea about this underwater pirate cave, and it doesn't make sense for Dr. Gero to squirrel away a dragon ball down here. Sometimes the things you love just disappoint you
Super Buu
I'm not sure this if this is a controversial opinion, but Super Buu is trash, his arc is trash, and everything he does will be done better later by Janemba in a fucking filler movie.
Before his introduction, Gohan failed, Vegeta failed and failed and failed, Gotenks fucked around and found out, and Goku wasted his time on a useless transformation like Future Trunks did in the Cell Saga (if he had been alive, Gohan would be trained and he would have realized SSJ3 wasn't a real transformation). Then Hercule came along and WON. The champ did it, he beat Majin Buu (with kindness). And that's great. If the Buu arc ended there, it would've still had several loose ends, but Z has loose ends as it is (imo another saga was needed to complete Gohan's character arc).
But then Toriyama (I'd rather blame his editors, but I've never seen anyone credit Super and Kid Buu to editorial interference) Ctrl-Z's Hercule's victory and we get Super Buu, a Perfect Cell wannabe that does nothing but crack his neck and murder Marin and everyone else too ig with his admittedly dope human extinction wave.
I have nothing but issues with this guy. His arc is way too long, his design is generically cool like a filler character, he steals Cell's powerset, he steals everybody's clothes, and he murders most of the cast while having little to no personality, so I can't even hate him for it
Go crack your neck more, you're the worst character in Dragon Ball
#dragon ball#dragon ball z#master roshi#jiraiya is a better roshi#but both belong on lists#not these kinda lists either#oolong#pirate robot#super buu#majin buu#garlic jr#bacterian#spopovich#dbz#theres a reason super buu isnt in fighterz

In Extella: The Umbral Star - y'know, the game ABOUT Altera - that dash thrust she does in FGO is in fact just some attack she does.
You wanna see a the True Name release of a real A-Rank Anti-Army Noble Phantasm? Look at Teardrop Photon Ray. The REAL Photon Ray. Which is shown as her Noble Phantasm in Extella TUS, Extella Link, and the animated movie adaptation of Temple of Time. Practically everywhere she appears in besides FGO and FGOA. You want to know why? Because THAT'S her Noble Phantasm. It's not the Sword of Mars. It's the giant, fuck-off, Hammer of Dawn ass megalaser the God of War keeps shooting at Altera for kicking his ass fourteen hundred years ago.
So even if it wasn't just a regular part of her kit in her source material, her Noble Phantasm in FGO doesn't hold a candle to her actual Noble Phantasm. And until they provide a decent reason for it not being Teardrop in the mobile and arcade games besides the same "Oh well FGO came out before Extella so we didn't want to spoil her character" excuse they've been using for the past 7 years of not expanding on her at all in past TUS, I will continue to demand it.
Once again I am begging Lasagna to give Altera an NP animation update
This is canonically just a regular attack she does. This isn't her Noble Phantasm. Give me the Velber Air Strike

y'know it's really good that Goncharov is gaining more traction these days, because Ice Pick Joe's character does a lot of intriguing things that sorta blows a sizable amount of well known mentally ill serial killer characters outta the water. Like idk for a 1973 film, Scorcese did an impeccable job at leaning more towards the failing of those who institutionalized IPJ and society itself, rather than implying that those who suffer from psychotic episodes are inherently violent. Not to say that this absolves IPJ at all, my man Joe fucked shit up purposefully, but the road that got him there wasn't obvious and inherent from his initial psychotic break. Like, the flashback scene to him having nightly hallucinations of his brother walking off a cliff...there was nothing in his demeanor that suggested that he was violent or murderous at all. It was just a man filled with dread and grief. Like that was pre-institutionalization, he hadn't done anything to anyone or even so much as had the desire to. It was made clear that his descent into sadistic murder had everything to do with how he was treated and how he was viewed. I definitely think they could have stood to expand on that even more, but from what we got, it was really ahead of its time. It definitely is a shame that this movie was buried for so long, but I'm glad it's gaining a cult following.

10, 12, 21 for the behind the scenes ask game?
10. Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?
It depends on the story, for me, on what the original spark for that story was. If my original idea for the story revolves around dialogue, exposition or plot, that's what I'll have the easiest time writing, because that's the thing I keep wanting to write. I do tend to favor dialogue and plot more than exposition. I write dialogue focused stuff when I have a scene very clearly in my head, or when I focus on plot, I just want people to figure out how the pieces fit together.
12. Is there a trope you haven’t written yet but really want to?
I kinda wanna revisit "fake dating" with a ship I'm a lot more invested in. I don't have anything against PromNyx, but that entire series was written out of prompts because it's not a ship I personally ship super hard, so I needed prompts to write more for it. Plus there's some sad/unfortunate associations with how that series came out, so I'd like to give it a shot with a ship I have more positive associations with! Possibly mix in some enemies to lovers, I don't know. Fake dating is one of my favorite dynamics, I just want to do one that makes ME happy, y'know?
21. What is the one fic that got away?
I feel my most defining "oh, let's better not" moment was in 2006, when I was writing FMA fic, and one of my long, sprawling messes got tangled up in the movie verse and I had a moment of blinding clarity while doing research that maybe FMA fic that requires you to research political and military developments in Germany in the 1930s and the 1940's is fic that you... probably shouldn't write? It wasn't even a matter of skill - there's fic I've thought about and then realized I don't have the chops for it - it's just. Y'know. I found myself researching the rise of Nazis for fic and then I decided I was better off not writing fic about fucking Nazis.
I think about that fic a lot, specially every time there's massive wank around Issue fic.
I'm not one to disparage fic. I'm sure fic is important and transformative and worthy of a lot of pretentious adjectives. But at some point you gotta realize that if you're using real life tragedy as salad dressing for your fic, that comes with the decision, conscious or not, to reduce real, actual human suffering to the badly painted background for the stage where you make your dolls kiss. It was a very powerful realization, for me, that. There's themes and topics that when you put them in a story, they just. Dominate the story. You can't have slavery or rape or torture or any number of real world harrowing things in a story, and not have them dominate the story by immediately forcing the story to SAY something about them, one way or another. It's why you see the iddy omegaverse fic so very quickly spiral into grimdark melodrama the moment you expand it beyond the iddy smut one-shot. Because the setting carries consequences and most writers want to explore those. That curiosity and need to really think about and explore consequences is one of the defining things that makes a writer. And I think there's a point where you realize you have a lot of things to say about something or other, and shippy fic about shonen jump teenage protagonists isn't the best vehicle for it.
I feel that balance of how much srs bsns you put into your setting and worldbuilding, framing your story, and how to not fall face first into You've Made It Issue Fic Now, Thanks, is a very underappreciated skill that takes a lot of years to master. And I will always remember that one FMA fic for being the one that taught me that. Because it was clever and witty and to this day I think it made sense, building up on what canon had presented and the type of story I was overall trying to tell. Absolutely.
But it was also a fic that was definitely going to have Nazis in it for it to work, and life is too short to waste it characterizing Nazis with any depth or having to write characters who at any point have to entertain their ideology. Can it be done? Maybe! I don't know. I'm not the arbiter of all things Nazis or anything. But it can't be done BY ME. And teaching me that lesson is why that fic is the best fic I never wrote, and I will remember it fondly probably til the day I die.

idk if you’re still doing these but 13 from that headcanon list for adam, amanda and lawrence?
YASS I'm still open for ramblings! btw sorry for the late reply, but I had to be in the right headspace to give proper answers, so here goes:
13. Sex headcanon
adam: look, we all like to joke around that he's pathetic and all, but we just can NOT deny that he gets around, okay? he has the personality-type for it, let's be real. he has lots of people to choose from too, because he's bi and all that. it expands his horizons, y'know? perhaps most controversially of all, I see him as a switch and not just a pure bottom! these are MY headcanons so don't @ me abt this 😤 but yeah, he's a cheeky bastard, no matter if he's topping or bottoming. he likes to tease; to get a bit snarky and get a reaction out of whoever he's with amanda: do i even need to say it? if adam gets around despite all his flaws, you can just imagine how amanda gets around even MORE... I'll be honest that while watching the movies myself, I didn't quite get the "full lesbian" vibes from her, but her bi-vibes are Off. The. CHARTS. that said, she still prefers women, though the occasional man slips through the web once in a while. anyway, in bed, she's demanding as hell, no surprises there. even when she's with a guy, she has big top energy and she won't bow down to anyone. she's like that with other women too, but sometimes-- just SOMEtimes-- she can let her guard down a bit and let the girl she's currently with take some form of control over her. she'd never let one of her guy-lovers do that though
lawrence: vanilla as HELL. and hey, nothing wrong with that! but it's kinda funny when you think about it, cause isn't the stereotype usually that the older you are, the more likely you are to be a sex-god? well, lawrence is not nor has ever been a sex-god. if he gets with adam, maybe he would be able to help ol' larry loosen up a bit (if you catch my drift..), but before that, he's only ever been with alison ever since he met her after, like-- college? before that, he had SOME encounters and he wasn't even very closeted back then! he even slept with a couple of guys before he left college and went on to pursue the "all american" family-dream everyone's supposed to have. after that, he was stable with alison for quite a few years until the tedium set in on both sides. basically, lawrence and alison's sex-life can be summed up like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4O4-09qVec

Phoenix and the Kubrick-a-thon
Back in....February? March? Let's go with March. Anyway, back in March, I decided I needed to stop watching The Shining so goddamn much and instead try to branch out and expand my movie watching horizons. And instead of tackling the list of horror flicks I'd been putting together since August that's m i l e s long, I figured it wasn't too much of a leap to work my way through the rest of Stanley Kubrick's filmography. I mean, I'd only been watching The Shining relentlessly since September, right? And since I'm now halfway there (cue Bon Jovi), now seems like as good a time as any to ramble about it. No analysis, just opinions under a cut because this is going to take awhile. And because I like to torture myself, I'm going to try to pick my top moments.
The Shining
This stupid movie has infected my brain. Nowhere NEARLY as badly as the conspiracy theorists, but still. If we're close enough that I feel comfortable rambling at you, you've heard me mention this movie at least five times over the last eight months. I honestly can't remember my first opinion of it, but safe to say that it has CHANGED. Holy SHIT. This is a long ass movie that I feel absolutely none of the run time because there is always something going on. The camera work, the art direction, the music, the performances, all of it. I didn't find it all that scary or even creepy the first couple times I watched it, and now it gets to me more and more the more I come back to it. A full-on ramble could take up its own post, tbh. The geeking out and the occasional existential crisis and the rampant enthusiasm are too much to cram into one paragraph. The long and short of it is, it's pretty safe to say this is one of my favorite movies.
Top moments: 95% of the movie if we're serious but Danny riding the big wheel, Jack walking to the Gold Room, the Bat Scene™, "Here's Johnny" (ofc)
A Clockwork Orange
Funny story, I ended up watching this for the first time after a friend of mine told me something I wrote reminded her of this movie. If you've seen it, you can imagine the WTF running through my head afterwards. And somehow, it's even more fucked up on a revisit. It's interesting to note this is Kubrick's low budget movie, because it seems to be one of the first that comes up when talking about his body of work. IDK, that's just amusing to me. Visually, it's a trip. Thematically, it's a doozy. Which is worse, a violent individual committing all sorts of atrocities for fun, or state sanctioned violence that strips an individual of their free will? The cinematography and design are, again, distinctive, but what sticks out the most to me is Malcolm MacDowell's performance. He's despicable but charismatic and I want to look away but I just. Can't. Do. It. I loathe Alex and his crimes are horrifying, but I don't enjoy watching him get his comeuppance, and yet the way it's portrayed is all horribly mesmerizing/surreal/cartoonish. A tough watch, but a brilliant film.
Top moments: Alex and his droogs' first meeting with the drunk, Alex's second meeting with the writer
Dr. Strangelove, Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb
I'm a big fan of irony, so I dug this movie. I also don't think I've watched anything that made me facepalm more. It's just so ABSURD. And by highlighting the absurdity, it makes it easier to laugh at what is truly a horrifying concept. In summary, one nut job decides to launch a nuke and jump start nuclear war because he has a weird conspiracy theory, and the most powerful figures on the world stage are utterly incompetent to stop it. It's frustrating as hell, and fucking hilarious, and that ending is just the icing on the cake. As far as comedies go, this one is DARK.
Top moments: "You can't fight in here! This is the war room!" and any time Peter Sellars is on screen.
Full Metal Jacket
*sigh* Y'know, if you've seen one war movie, you've pretty much seen them all. That said, it does feel like two different movies, though it still didn't do much for me. At this point in my watch-a-thon, though, I'd picked up enough of Kubrick's style to read it, in terms of what the camera is doing and how character arcs progress, which was pretty cool. However, I reeeeaaaally don't understand why I've only heard this movie mentioned as being an uber-macho, by-dudes-for-dudes flick about guys being dudes, because....that is NOT the reading I got. If it's not Sgt. Hartman during basic training, then it's the door gunner shooting down random civilians or the Marines being interviewed that seem to hammer in the idea that war breaks down your humanity and leaves you a mindless killing machine. It's easy to see Hartman as the antagonist of the first half, and very hard to sympathize with the soldiers in the second, and unless I'm missing something in my reading, that's how it's supposed to be. Which gives the ending more of an impact, if you ask me, when one last killing is, given the situation, the most humane action that could be taken. Not a bad movie, but not my cup of tea.
Top moments: Private Pyle's...er...DOR, and Joker's response to the sniper reveal
The Killing
Back to our good friend Irony. This is one of Kubrick's earlier movies, and it shows quite a bit in the mechanics of the film. The story itself, on the other hand... I don't really have too much to say about this one. It's a straightforward heist movie with some fun moments and some aspects that just don't work very well. I was occasionally entertained, and occasionally bored. I'll give points for the ending, though, as I couldn't stop laughing until the credits were over. Again, the IRONY.
Top moments: the final scene
Lolita
Watching this was easily one of the ickiest viewing experiences I've had so far, full stop. Made even worse by the fact that this is a good movie. Which makes it really. Frigging. Hard. To talk about. You probably know at least the general premise of one of thee Problematic™ novels some people love to wring their hands over, and in case you don't: a middle aged man becomes obsessed with his landlady's young daughter, and it gets gross fast. Apparently there was all kinds of trouble adapting it in a way that appeased the censors, and gee whiz, I wonder why. It's also one of those cases when working backward from a twist actually works. The cast is excellent, and while I'd never heard of Peter Sellars before starting this watch project, I might have to look up more of his work, because dude can steal a scene. All in all, a beautifully made and perfectly nauseating flick. I mean, damn.
Top moments: the opening scene, Charlotte finding Humbert's diary
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that'll wrap it up for now. Only six more to go!

DEFENDING...
THOR: RAGNAROK!
Okay, so yesterday I asked you guys which is your least favourite MCU movie and why. I said I'd take the most commonly disliked film and try and defend it, using my personal reasonings as well as attempting to counter what issues you had with it yourselves.
Firstly, I'm quite surprised that Ragnarok was the most hated! I was expecting Age of Ultron or Iron-Man 3 (though they weren't too far behind). To make it clear, it's okay to dislike this movie, my attempt at defending the movie is just a bit of fun, but if it lets you see and appreciate the movie in a different light then that's cool! If it doesn't then that's cool too! Here goes...
I'll start with why I personally love Ragnarok, and how it was actually my favourite MCU movie, until Infinity War inevitably took that spot.
Thor was the first character in the franchise to introduce outerspace, and the cosmic side of the cinematic universe. With Iron-Man, Hulk and Cap being restricted to Earth, Thor was key to broadening what types of stories they could tell, what sort of threats and stakes could arise etc. The first Thor movie was certainly a bold move at the time, hoping that audiences would embrace the fantastical themes that he and Asgard brought to the table. Bar Thanos, Thor and Loki are the reason sh*t's going down in the first Avengers movie, so you have them to thank for that.
Flash forward to Dark World however, at this point we've seen Asgard already, so the novelty has worn off slightly. As much as the movie expands our view of Thor's home, we still feel very restricted, as though we're only seeing through a keyhole, when we actually wanna bust the door down and see what an outerspace adventure could really offer, hence why people gravitate towards Guardians of the Galaxy so heavily, because it let loose and didn't feel like it was shying away from the sci-fi elements that made the property what it was.
So with Dark World leaving a bad taste in our mouths (even though I think it's underratedly funny, but perhaps another time), and Thor not quite standing out in Age of Ultron, we're left thinking, do we really even want another Thor movie at this point? Something had to change. The studios' take on Thor was good in ways, but wasn't gripping people as much as say Iron-Man and Cap. If Captain America could have an amazing sequel, why couldn't Thor? With the damage already done via Dark World however, Ragnarok had to be Marvel's shot at redemption and reinvigoration, and I personally think it was.
There's no arguing Ragnarok was a bold step to take Thor, though not everyone agrees it was for the better. Could the Thor we were used to still work given the correct writing and direction? Who knows, but with already 'failing' once with Dark World, it was surely less of a risk to go for something completely unexpected. We go from majestic golds and elegant architecture, to crazy, vibrant, jagged imperfections that you'd expect to see in a retro sci-fi movie. The Thor we knew and expected has lightened up a little, during his few years between Age of Ultron and now, scouring the universe for information on the Infinity Stones. No pun intended, but perhaps his absent couple of years provided some much needed soul searching. So to those that wonder why Thor is suddenly so funny and witty, he's been out and about off-screen for quite a while loosening up! That's how I like to see it at least.
In the first 10 minutes, we're given more cosmic calamity than any of the other Thor movie has provided in their joint runtimes. He's in the fiery realm of Muspelheim, kicking the crap out of hellish minions and their giant demonic flame lord, Surtur, whilst the Immigrant Song plays. Then moments later, there's a damn dragon beast that's on fire that chases him, as the coolest little synth melody twinkles in the background. That cool little action scene not only gave Mjölnir the ultimate send off, but I remember thinking just from that point, "This is what Thor movies are meant to be like! This is already my favourite MCU movie!"
I think the comedy is people's biggest issue with the film. Admittedly, the style of humour was a little jarring at first, but I soon let go of doubts and embraced what the movie was trying to do. Notice how I said 'style' of humour, and not just 'humour' as a whole, because a lot of people forget just how comedic the first two Thor movies actually are. I feel like humour allows a sort of alleviation to what could potentially be something rather odd on screen. That way, if the movie embraces it's outlandish source materials, the comedy allows us to laugh with it, rather than at it. I think people are okay with the inclusion of comedic elements - I think they just weren't expecting the amplification that it had. So as I said, you can either let that ruin the film, or you can embrace/accept it, because there is just as much heart in this film as there is humour.
I know there's people that think Hela was wasted. Having watched these movies countless times, I rarely see any issues with villains anymore. The fabled 'villain problem' springs to mind, where everyone says that they were just there as a device to make the hero save the day. But what's actually wrong with that technically speaking? And how is that any different to other movies outside of the superhero realm? I see most of these villains as stepping stones for the heroes. These movies belong to the heroes, so the way I see it, the villains are there to develop and shape the good guy into whatever the finished product may be by the time the credits roll, just like all the other characters do in the movie. To prove this point, everyone loves Thanos as a villain, but that's because Infinity War was his movie, given the amount of time spent with him. I think the only exception is Loki, but his character is so well-received because he sits within the grey area of good and bad. We've seen both sides of him now.
Yes, I understand that villains are a little lack luster in most of these movies, but I liked what Hela brought to the franchise. We get the shock of discovering Thor has an older sister, she manages to take over Asgard, she demolishes everything in sight, she was the reason Thor is reinvigorated via his new right eye and weapon, she forced Thor's hand, making him enact Ragnarok (even though there's no stopping Ragnarok but it was a cool twist) and destroy Asgard, she was the first main female villain at long last, and she had a giant wolf. Some films spend more time with the villain, and some sacrifice it to focus more on the hero. There's never a straight 50:50 between good and evil in their storytelling, and I imagine it's always a hard call to make when balancing and ensuring that not only do the audience care for the hero, but also everything and everyone around them. Regardless the solo hero is always the focal point. Unless you're watching Breaking Bad or American Psycho or... *Lists shows and movies told from the bad guy's perspective*
I think the underlining disapproval stems from the fresh direction that it took. His hammer goes bye-byes, his warrior friends die just like that, Thor no longer looks or acts like the Thor we're used to, and Jane moved on. People will either be okay with those things, or it'll be too much to accept. Was the film too bold? Perhaps, but Thor can conduct lightning through his body now and that fight scene on the Bifrost bridge was badass.
Jokes aside, I suppose it's up to the individual audience member to decide whether or not the change is too much. A part of me wishes that the Thor we currently have was the Thor from the get go - things would've been different, but I love the character no matter what weapon or haircut you give him. Ragnarok gave the God of Thunder the opportunity to prove why he's a badass and not just a guy that relies on a hammer. They turned the dial up on his power level, and then again in Infinity War, which is good because I feel like prior to Ragnarok, Thor was kinda just there, y'know?
Everyone has their own favourite and least favourite movie, and no one should force you to alter your personal interests and disinterests, but if I were to wrap up what I thought of the film, Thor: Ragnarok to me is a fun, crazy joyride from start to finish, that provided a lot of heart as well as light-heartedness. It introduced some new, diverse characters whilst also giving the Hulk a much-needed story arc. A bold game-changer for the character and the lore he contributes to the MCU. It's the type of change I can appreciate and most definitely get behind!
What do you guys think? Have I swayed your opinions, or do you hate the movie more now! Let me know. Thanks for reading! Shall I do more of these? Let me know that too. I'm off to buy snacks and watch Ragnarok now, no joke!

Again no worries about the long answer lol I kind of understand how hard it is to get into new things, I personally don't re watch stuff so I get kind of stuck watching nothing for a long time. I'm more of movie person tho, I really enjoy horror and weird movies, the critically acclaimed stuff too, yknow "Cinema 🤓". I guess my favourite favorite movie is Pi (1998).
Now for my question lol
Would you like to tell me about your relationship with TØP? How did you discover them? What song really caught you?
omg i started to answer but then i had A Lot happen last night and didn't come back to it D: sorry!
if your favorite films are "cinema 🤓" we would NOT get along during movie night because i have such bad taste in movies and i never expand my taste because. well as we previously discussed i'm bat at watching new things. BUT my dad and i watch a lot of old movies together and pi is on our list of ones to watch!
ooohhh i love this question hehe. so i found out about twenty one pilots through one of my brothers, because he would always be playing either ride, stressed out, house of gold and i think fairly local? and it annoyed my because our rooms were right next to each other so i heard the music no matter what. so because my brother annoyed me with twenty one pilots i hated twenty one pilots for awhile, but one day i had one of thr songs stuck in my head so i listened to it on my own and thought "wtf. why does he have those tattoos on his hands and neck. hm. this is weird. does anyone else think this is weird?" and checked the comments, read blurryface lore, went and watched more videos to learn more about blurryface, and then all of the sudden they're my favorite band and 11 or 12 year old me felt less alone :-) i don't know what song really did me in, but i think it was probably guns for hands because that's the first one i really remember clicking with, but it wasn't the first one i listened to. but man finding their music when i was so young really changed me Forever y'know? like i've grown up with twenty one pilots and it's like. it's part of who i am. i would be COMPLETELY different had i not fallen in love with their music. plus, i found them after i had some Messed Up Shit™ happen to me and i had just started showing signs of some mental illnesses, and i had adhd but nobody knew at the time so that was messing with me, so to find twenty one pilots as all that was going on...it was really just perfect timing. so yeah that's my LONG ASS answer. your turn. i want to know your answer to the q :D
#HOPEFULLY i wont have more super late answers bc im ok winter break now so i dont have work and my afternoons and evenings are less busy#sorry anon i didn't know i'd be so busy until all the sudden i AM#cliquesecretsanta2022#;malls;

So about today news of the global casting (💀) I have to say I'm not surprised ☁️ want to expand with more peoples and more projects with the company in the futur because when they announced the movie for mileapo it was clear to me it wasn't because they especially wanted a new project with them but because with the movie they'll have now a serie and a movie in their historic to show. Good for apo and mile bc that will benefit them obviously, especially Apo. I think from the the poster and trailer it's obvious he is the center of the movie. We will follow the story of apo's character and mile's character will obviously be part of that story but not his story y'know what I mean? Anyway not the point of my msg. Forget about everything the company lack of but the global casting call is so ridiculous.. why not do normal casting when you have a pitch for a new serie so that you know what talent you're looking for. That look more like a casting call for a band than anything else. They should stay a little company that learn to manage their artists instead of going big like that. I already heard a month ago of 2 actors who are rumored to joined ☁️ and I guess after today it may really come true. Not gonna lie I'm already tired of all the drama more peoples will bring to already a lot of crap. And they gonna shove them into our face with the boys and this is exactly the kind of things that make me tired of peoples more than interested. I think mileapo &
bible👷♂️ fans should prepare to the disbandment of the pair because they checked the bl serie and movie so next they are obviously gonna go not bl route, but I can see them pairing the female lead not with a new talent but with the man who obviously gonna make them tune in for the view and sucess of the show. Not gonna lie I don't see them choosing mile unless it's an obvious adult serie because mile is a grown up man and it show he can't pretend to be 25 years old, this is what I mean. Aand I don't think the news talent are gonna be 30 years old unless they look 20. I could see them going for apo because whatever we think about pond the man likes apo and apo like the dude and they like working together but with him being a lead from already kinnporsche and the movie I think he will think it better to give a chance to someone else and y'know what on that point I agree you can't make the lead the same man of all your projects of the company, it's weird and not fair for the others who don't have projects and apo should work with others directors. So I think bible could be a choice. But tbh it'd be me the role would go to jeff. Bible has his fanbase with 👷♂️ and it may be too soon for them and they could bring more bad sound than anything else. I know jeff is pair with barcode but the kid is... well a kid and it would be a good idea, also I think jeff deserve it. Ngl he is the only cast member I like other than mile and apo. He is a good guy and you give him material he can do good + we haven't seen him a lot in kinnporsche. Not that I don't like the others but I don't care about them that's the thing, and jeff has his own fanbase who isn't from kinnporsche.
I was wondering but I hope they aren't gonna use the world tour for them to do casting since they are doing a global casting ??? No because them announcing that before the tour dates has me 👀 talking abt that the thing RIGHT NOW that is urgent for ☁️ are the date for that tour.. who announed a tour 2 weeks before. Peoples travel they need to organize things. How is this hard to understand. By the way the send off is a bad idea. The hall where they doing this has 2000 places it's nothing for their fanbase did they forget the concert last time and now they're doing that free event where everyone can show up. It's dangerous and not safe with covid & monkeypox who started to spread in thailand like I'm so annoyed. Can they think for once. Yesterday I woke up annoyed with the send off event today it was the casting call pls make it stop.
I'm dying at your use of emojis! That made me laugh. Thank you for that, anon.
In the words of Mean Girls, stop trying to make fetch happen. Here's the thing, anon, and I've mentioned this vaguely on my Twitter. First things first, being attractive doesn't make a star. Charisma and personality matters too. I'm not throwing shade at anyone's fave when I say this and I hope some people don't take this the wrong way - but if your fave can't mingle and schmooze with regular people, important people, anyone, then they're going to fail. In this industry, you have to know how to talk to people. Being attractive will get you in the door but it won't get you the job. You have to be able to wow the right people. The people with Farger tapped Mile and Apo for their company well before the series even aired. That's what I mean when I say you still have to have a personality. They hadn't even seen the show yet, but the company wanted these two.
Being introverted is a thing, and I'm not knocking anyone for being introverted because you can't change that about yourself. However, that doesn't mean you can't learn how to talk to people. Being socially awkward doesn't really help you in the long run, because these companies and brands are looking for very specific things when it comes to who they're hiring to be the face of their brand. They're looking for attractive people, but they're also looking for charismatic people who can make consumers feel safe and comfortable. They're looking for people who are relatable and people who can actually talk to potential customers. If you're just standing there like this🧍♂️the whole time and you're not interacting with people, who's going to hire you? Who's going to look at you and say 'yeah, let's rehire the guy who could barely hold his own at this event?' If you're latching onto someone else because you're so incredibly socially awkward and shy that you're struggling to figure out what to do, you're not going to be successful in the long term.
So while I understand what you mean when you say that Pond & Co. may start steering the company towards an actor that 'looks younger,' it won't matter if said actor is standing in the corner with the deer in headlights look because they don't know how to mingle and talk to people. With the way things stand right now, you're going to find a lot of attractive people with little to no personalities and that's not good. I don't know much about Jeff honestly. I haven't really paid attention to anything he's done outside of this show, so I'll take your word for it. But I have seen ... other actors in this cast who have struggled at fan events. I mean, legit struggled and you could see him drowning. He could not hold his own at this particular event and it was actually painful to watch.
So, unless these new actors are able to completely blow us away with award winning acting, I need to see how they are outside of that. We need actors who can act, but we also need actors who can impress brands because that's where the money comes from. Especially when it comes to a company like BOC that's still incredibly new and hasn't proven they can turn a profit yet. They need all the brands and endorsements they can stand, because those brands are the ones sponsoring this world tour. They need to be able to impress both the brands and the fans. If they can't do either one, then how you can expect them to lead a series all on their own? The marketing and promotion alone would kill them, metaphorically of course.
Also, and here's where we're definitely going to disagree, anon - if they are moving away from BL-like dramas, then there's no need to hire 'younger looking' actors. You only need actors who 'look young' if you're still trying to tap into the BL drama industry because that's the whole shtick of BL dramas. But if you're continuing to move away from that kind of thing and are moving into a mature direction when it comes to dramas, then seeking out an actor that looks young won't really fit. Barcode is a kid and looks like a kid. He wasn't a good fit for this type of show; he would do well in a stereotypical BL drama, but this show was too mature for someone who looks that young. So not looking like a prepubescent boy works in your favor if you're trying to land roles in mature dramas.
TL; DR - being attractive and 'looking young' isn't enough to lead a series. When these actors are expected to do a promotional run for this potential new series, they still have to be able to appear likeable in interviews. Certain actors in this cast would not be able to handle leading a promotional run for a potential new series unless they're paired with another actor who is charismatic enough to pick up the slack. Otherwise, it's going to turn people off and no one's going to want to tune into the show. People tune in and watch these shows because of the actors. They tune in because they feel a kinship with the actors. If they don't feel that, they're not going to waste their time. The show's subject content could be hot garbage, but the audience will still tune in in spite of that because they enjoy the actors. Despite what BOC is trying to do, it's not working. We've seen that today with the lack of attention and interest in the events for the other cast members. BOC is horrible at betting on the right horse, and it usually blows up in their face. Every single time.
